Speaker 2 (00:32):
One of the things that always frustrates me when watching
different campaigns and how they unfold is anytime a challenger
is taking on an incumbent and they start to play
against the incumbent's record, we always hear certain people that
(00:53):
will say, well, that's just negative campaigning, that's just dirty pool.
I'm here to you that it is not. It is
imperative for an incumbent who has a record and a
record that might not be stellar to be called out
for it. There's probably several of those votes that the
(01:16):
challenger's pointing out that led to them deciding to challenge
the incumbent in the first place. This idea that pointing
out someone's record is dirty pull And of course they're
also the same people who decry name calling all why
(01:37):
calling the challenger and his supporters liars merely because they
point out a record, a record that's easy to look up.
And here's the thing. If the challenger was wrong and
you could easily prove it, then jump on a debate
stage with them. Crush them in the debate. Show us
(01:59):
with your fact why the challenger is wrong in his
assessment of your terrible voting record. You can't do it
because you understand the challenger is right on this issue.
So instead of actually coming out and being honest with people,
(02:21):
you then go to your own form of negative And
soo often people in too many voters fall for this nonsense.
They either try to find something that the challenger said
that can be taken out of context. They either try
(02:42):
to spin it however they can, but ultimately they're just
gonna say they're lying and basically attack their character and
say that they're liars. They'll play the victim card, despite
the fact that it's us, the voters, who are the victims,
the people that she's supposed to be or he is
(03:02):
supposed to be representing. Of course, I think I let
the get out of the bag that I'm talking about
State Senator Robin Robinson again when I said she. But
that's been their main comeback to the accusations of her
poor voting. They've also tried to put out this false
(03:23):
rhetoric that she is the most conservative voter in the
Mississippi State Senate. She's not. That's also easily proven, but
most people don't take the time to research the facts.
They just hear a challenger attacking her record and they
(03:43):
check out. I hope that's not what we see later
today in the election here in Senate District forty two.
I hope people actually are listening and understanding that these
votes that have been pointed out that she may that
are terrible, she has to own them, and she's yet
(04:05):
to really do that. She's tried to make excuses, She's
blamed it on the NAACP. She's not alone in this.
This is establishment incumbent candidate playbook one oh one. This
is how they play the game, this credit name call,
(04:25):
deflect away from their record, and sadly, nine times out
of ten it works. It's beyond frustrating when we see
these type of nonsensical gamemanship work. We really and truly
deserve better from the people that we vote to. Go
to Jackson or go to Washington, DC and be our representatives.
(04:51):
Doesn't matter what state you're in, you should look into
your elected representatives voting records. If there's a challenger calling
them out on votes, research it yourself, and I guarantee
you that you'll probably find out that said challenger wasn't
(05:13):
lying about the bad vote. Now, maybe you're one of
those people that can brush it off and say you're
okay with it. I may disagree with you, but that's
you're right. But don't sit here and try to tell
us that this is somehow dirty campaigning. She voted the
way she voted, that's her record. It's fair game. If
(05:36):
you don't want it to be fair game, then don't
run for office. If you don't want to have to
explain your bad votes, don't run for office. Look, there
are several bad votes that a politician can make that
are forgivable. You can overlook them, but there are some
(05:57):
that shouldn't be overlooked by the public. Destroying a judicial
district in your home county to benefit another fellow state Senator.
That's a huge, huge no no, and one that shouldn't
be forgiven. And then drawing out people of your district
(06:19):
into a Democrats district, that's another one that shouldn't be forgiven.
That doesn't make the incumbent a bad person. It just
makes them a bad politician, It makes them a bad representative,
it makes them a bad senator. And in that instance,
(06:44):
it is time to bring them home. It is time
to send a message clear as day and let them
know that we're tired of the same old, same mold.
It is time to start standing up to the status quo.
Until we the people are willing to take tough positions
(07:06):
and stand up to these folks and actually vote them
out of office when they show us who they are,
then we're never going to see change. And guess what,
then it stops being that politician's fault, and then it
starts being your fault because you refused to listen. You decided, well,
(07:28):
they're just being mean by pointing out that terrible voting record. Meanwhile,
the incumbent can send you a mailer telling you that
the challenger is the worst person in the world and
put many falsehoods out there and you'll just accept that.
(07:52):
But when a challenger actually uses their votes against them,
that's campaigning. I'm sorry, I'm not buying it. If you're
that naive, if you're that foolish, then I hate to
say it, but you probably stay home and never vote
because you are a major part of the problem. And
(08:13):
next time you start complaining about the things that are
going on in your government, look in the mirror and
understand your to blame. This has been morning Coffee with
the Right Side and I'm your host, Jack Fairchild's and
we're a part of the Midnight Ride Network. This show
