Speaker 2 (00:29):
It's kay to Pearl River Resort. The snikes will be
high today as President Trump meets with Ukrainian President Zulenski,
and the hope is that they can find some common
ground to broker the peace deal with Russia. Ukrainian President
(00:52):
Zelenski is bringing in several European leaders with him this
go around, So we're going to see what happens today.
We know what happened last time when Zelenski sat down
with President Trump, Vice President Vance, and Marco Rubio. It
(01:15):
wasn't a good show for Zolenski as he came in
and was disrespectful in many people's eyes, and the President
and the Vice President weren't having it. But the fact
this time that he is bringing in key European allies.
(01:35):
It's definitely a show of strength for Zolensky to show
up with these European leaders to flank him. It may
also be a chance at him being forced to remain
diplomatic and not fall off the cliff like he did
last time. It also is going to signal that europe
(02:01):
is still determined to rally behind the Ukraine. So it
is going to be a interesting meeting for sure. Zelensky
did acknowledge his last visit to the White House and
he told reporters in Brussel he hopes Monday's meeting will
be more productive rather than a repeat of February's encounter.
(02:27):
What can we expect. We know that Trump met with Putin.
I know Putin has laid out things he wants. And
here's the thing. Any key negotiation, you're not going to
get everything you want. You're not going to get everything
you want, and that goes the same way for Zelensky.
(02:48):
They're gonna have to find common ground. There's some things
that Putin asked for that seem reasonable, But there are
some things that Putin asked for that I would if
I were the leader of the net he had invaded
that I would also object to. You've got to find
the points that you can concede on that don't fundamentally
(03:14):
scar your country, and I think that's where we're at.
I know why Trump says he's not a big fan
of ceasefires, and he's not wrong on that, But in
this instance, if it looks like the negotiations are going
to advance, I think they should be trying to push
for some type of cease fire. That way, before the
(03:38):
president is I mean, before the deal is struck, they
have time to negotiate without both sides still shooting at
one another. So there are reasons to ask for a ceasefire,
and that's one of the things Lensky's asking for. Prediction
on how it's going to go. I have no clue.
(04:00):
If you had told me back in February that Zelensky
was going to come in and act the way that
he did, and that meeting was going to blow up
the way that it did, I'm not sure I would
have believed it. But by the same token, if you
had told me, you know that Putin was going to
come in and it looks like there might be a
(04:22):
path I wasn't sure. I would have bought that either.
Trump's a great negotiator, and you know that because he's
been a part of several deals as a businessman, he
may be very well equipped to make sure that this
(04:42):
deal is brokeer. We already know that Putin has said
that this war with Ukraine wouldn't have happened if Trump
had still been president. Let's see if he can come
up with this master negotiation skills that we have seen
him be so successful at on the business field. Let's
(05:04):
see if he can broker this deal. It's not going
to be an easy one because I do think that
Vladimir Putin's asking for some things that Zelenski is well
within his rights to say no to. Where is going
to be the compromise? Where is the middle ground going
(05:26):
to be found? That's the question. That's why it's so
difficult to give you an answer on how this is
going to play out. It's why it's so difficult to
give you an answer on how everything is going to
shape up. At the end of the day, the fact
that both sides are talking and utilizing the United States
(05:50):
as a mediator is a good thing, and I hope
that it works now the things that could blow up
in everyone's face today, the power move of bringing multiple
European leaders with him. That could backfire because again, that
could be seen as we're trying to strong arm everything
(06:13):
we want. And I think in this situation, in order
to achieve the peace that they claim that they won't,
there's going to have to be some give and take. Again,
I understand there are some lines in the sand, things
that Putin asked for that you can't possibly give, and
(06:35):
I one hundred percent agree with that support that believe that.
But at the same time, there is a lot of
things that could work in our favor and it could
(06:59):
finally be that piece brokerage. The fact that they are
talking at least through the United States as a mediator
is progress. We'll find out what happens. I don't want
to predict. I'm just hopeful that this time Zelenski is
(07:20):
taking it more seriously and that we can get to
that point where these two sides are no longer battling
one another. One thing's for certain, and this is something
that I hope Trump makes clear to Zelenski. It's cute
that you got that European support, but if you're not
(07:41):
serious about broker in peace, then don't ask us for
another time. Don't ask the United States of America to
spend another penny in trying to help your nation, because
if you're not coming at this seriously and you've got
all these europe and friends, they can pay for it.
