Speaker 2 (00:32):
The meeting yesterday was Lensky went much better than the
one back in February, and Trump has even called it
very good early steps towards Russia Ukraine piece. But part
of the problem that we saw was after this meeting,
not long maybe mere hours afterwards, Russia launched a drone
(00:56):
strike on Ukraine. And I think this outlines why during
the negotiation project process, while European leaders and Zelenski himself
want to see a ceasefire because Putin is why negotiating,
He's not backing off his aggression. So it's gonna be
(01:22):
interesting to see what happens. But seeing that they have
made steps and come up with some positive momentum here,
it's gonna be interesting to see if this can be
achieved again. We know that the president has had a
(01:45):
good relationship with Putin in the past, Zelensky, and he
got off to a rocky start, but maybe after yesterday
it's a little bit better. It's extremely encouraging even with
the idea that happened yesterday, and we'll see what comes.
(02:08):
But I do think that it is something that even
though Trump says he's not a big fan of ceasefires,
and I get it. I understand why you're not a
big fan of ceasefires because a lot of times ceasefires
just are a break in the aggression and then no
piece is achieved. But it is something that I think
(02:31):
needs to be elevated to avoid having more Russian aggression
during these negotiations, and we'll see if that's something that
they proceed with next Zelenski, of course, he dressed in
a more appropriate attire yester day, and of course made
(02:55):
jokes about it and had a fun exchange with the
reporter who who commented on the fact that he was
dressed better by pointing out the reporter had the same
suit on that he wore last time the Linski was here,
so a fun exchange between himself and members of the media. Again,
(03:17):
this is a process, and a process that's not going
to end right away. It's a process that's going to continue.
And here we are in the you know, here we
(03:38):
are in the early stages of this negotiation. I know
there are people that are going to want to see
progress move at a faster pace than it's going to
in order to get to the point that both sides
can feel happy. It's going to be a slow process,
which is part of why I believe that they do
(03:58):
need to getting some type of an agreement on a
ceasefire during the negotiation process, because it's a smart play
to avoid what happened yesterday. You can say what you
will about Russia going in on the attack knowing that
(04:19):
the negotiations that Trump and the United States were working
as a mediator, that he probably shouldn't have done it. Unfortunately,
that's not the way things work in war. They don't
care about your opinion. Right now, there's still an ongoing
conflict and that's the reality, and that's why coming up
(04:40):
with some type of ceasefire agreement is probably the smart play.
While you're ironing out the negotiations, We'll see what Zelenski's
willing to give up, We'll see what Russia's willing to
give up. This cannot be and a negotiation where one
(05:03):
side wins everything they want. It's going to have to
be a meet in the middle somewhere type of negotiation.
That's just the way it's going to be, or else
this conflict will wage on. And if this conflict wages on,
Russia will get all of Ukraine, most likely because I
just can't see us being able to continue to fund
(05:28):
the Ukraine. We probably have funded them way more than
we ever should have in the first place, especially considering
our own problems in this country. And if the United
States is not funding them, then guess what happens. They're
bold European nations don't have the capital to back them
(05:49):
at a level that they would need without fully engaging
in the conflict with their own military forces. And I
don't think anybody wants to do that. Understands the stakes
here and that if you get involved with boots on
the ground, you are essentially starting World War III. So
(06:10):
here we are. We have seen Trump meet with Putin,
we have seen Trump meet with Zolenski now comes the
part of the process where Trump tries to put together
a deal that both sides can agree to. At some point,
get Putin and Zolensky in the same room and get
(06:31):
this thing fixed and ironed out. But I do think
the next step should be, based on what happened yesterday,
should be a cease firing. And that was one of
the things that the European leaders in Zelenski were adamantly
asking for, and Putin proved that they were right to
(06:54):
want that request by his attack last night. It shows that, yes,
while we're in this negotiation process, a ceasefire is a
smart move because Vladimir Putin is not backing off the
aggression over there. So again, positive steps forward, positive steps
(07:19):
forward when it comes to the negotiation process, maybe not
so positive steps when it comes to an attack launch
during this process, the need for a ceasefire during the
negotiations appears very very clear. We'll see what happens next, folks.
