It baffles me.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
You want to olive our onion? Any drink olive? If
it's all right with you, Ahi, you're smart. Olive's got

Speaker 4 (01:18):
No, he says, we're here today and gone tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:21):
Well, put how about my drink?
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Or take the blonde sitting over there?
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Hmm, all right, I'll take the blonde.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
Know who she is, Maddie North used to be in
musical comedy.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
I can see why, even at this distance, she sings too.
I wouldn't have thought it necessary. However, about my drink?
Speaker 2 (01:40):
So what happens?
Speaker 6 (01:41):
She makes big door.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
Then she gets possy with Joe Maxon, at that time
a small punk, but with her door he works himself
up with He's now owning the biggest gambling joint this
side of the kid Father Committee.
Speaker 6 (01:53):
So now he is a big shot.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
And what happens? He won't even buy her a drink?
Speaker 4 (01:56):
Right, don't want to know her anymore? Don't even give
her a door back?
Speaker 6 (02:01):
You know something?
Speaker 3 (02:02):
Yes, I'm thirsty.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
She could kill him as easy as swatting a fly.
Speaker 6 (02:06):
Whom do you have to know around here to get
a drink?
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Huh?
Speaker 4 (02:11):
Always kidding, mister Temple here, Yeah, see I did to
get around to the other customers.
Speaker 7 (02:17):
You can't stand here talking to you all night, and.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
I could be persuaded to put a small bet on that.
Are you?
Speaker 6 (02:24):
Oh?
Speaker 8 (02:25):
Hello, my name's Mary North.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
I know who you are, do you?
Speaker 9 (02:30):
Sim Temple?
Speaker 8 (02:32):
He ill Simon, Hello, you're the same. That's why I
came over. Thank you.
Speaker 9 (02:40):
You think I'm just a teamy?
Speaker 8 (02:42):
We need that drunk, don't Well?
Speaker 6 (02:45):
You're right I am.
Speaker 8 (02:47):
I I'm gonna ford got you. I get these dizzy
stuff when I look here, Sit down, No, no, just
let me hold on to you for a minute.
Speaker 6 (02:59):
Man, When was the last time you ate some food?
Speaker 9 (03:03):
What's that?
Speaker 3 (03:04):
I thought? So you better let me order you something?
Speaker 8 (03:07):
No, No, I see you all right now? You sure
see I can stand all.
Speaker 6 (03:12):
By myself, Madam.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
I'm sure glad I.
Speaker 8 (03:15):
Ran into you, Simon. A real pleasure to meet a gentleman.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
Let's talk some more about them.
Speaker 8 (03:21):
No, I gotta be going, I gotta date good bye.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Seven Who won the rattle?
Speaker 6 (03:27):
Something strange about the whole thing?
Speaker 3 (03:30):
I mean, she don't rastle fair a busy spell. She
got over it in a few seconds, walked out of
here with no difficulty, perfectly straight.
Speaker 6 (03:37):
She must have had some.
Speaker 4 (03:38):
Reasons, all literal reasons dame's got for leaning against the guy.
The other one usually want to pick his pockets.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
I'll be that's what she did in a way.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
But what she still wasn't money. It was my revolver fact, Patsy,
are you gonna do this template with her?
Speaker 9 (04:07):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (04:08):
How did you know my name?
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Louis told me.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
He also told me I should take good carriers should
you ever step a foot into my camp.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
Well, my name is Eddie, and where would you like
to win it?
Speaker 3 (04:18):
But I'm very glad to know you Eddie, do you
know where Joe Maxon's establishment is? Yes?
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Sure, only in the best cycles.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
You know what I referred to as an establishment, This
is better known as a joint.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
You're gonna maybe gamble a bit, and not exactly. A
blonde just leaned against me, Eddie. Oh, that's bad. And
she did it in order to steal my gun.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
That's bad.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
Yeah, but I don't explain why you're going to Maxim's.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
You think that maybe she swiped the gun to give
it to him.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
I am afraid it wasn't a gun she thought of
giving to him, only the bullets in it. Looking for
someone You're not Joe Maxon? Are you no? My name
(05:10):
is Brent.
Speaker 6 (05:10):
Oh is uh Maddie North here?
Speaker 7 (05:13):
Maddie?
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Mm?
Speaker 6 (05:14):
Who wants to know?
Speaker 3 (05:16):
I do? That leaves me pretty much.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Word farmer.
Speaker 7 (05:18):
My name is Simon Templar. The Saint room is due
spread them thing. I have no idea where missus North is.
Speaker 6 (05:25):
Well, I do.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
The idea is that she's here. What do you want
her for?
Speaker 7 (05:30):
I'll tell her that is she here? Well, she was
here a little while ago.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
At the moment the moment, I don't see her. Where
is Maxim?
Speaker 7 (05:37):
I am not acquainted with his schedule.
Speaker 3 (05:39):
You're giving a very good imitation of an idiot. If
it is an imitation, where is Maxim Golfer, mister Templer.
Speaker 7 (05:44):
I've got a job is to keep the customers happy
and mister Maxon undisturbed.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
If Maddie North gets to him, Maxim is going to
be more than disturbed.
Speaker 6 (05:52):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (05:53):
She stole my gun in a bar a little while ago.
I believe her intentions were murderous. They concerned mister Maxon.
Speaker 7 (06:00):
Good heavens, I uh come along. If i'd only known
mat you let her visit Maxim. Well you may not
know this, but she and mister Maxon at one time.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
You I know what they used to be. And there's
been a few changes, however.
Speaker 7 (06:12):
And perhaps but everyone around here likes Maddie.
Speaker 6 (06:15):
She must have been figuring on that through here.
Speaker 7 (06:22):
I Uh, well, we were all hoping perhaps she and
mister Maxon would get together again. Uh.
Speaker 6 (06:27):
The office is right down this way. I'd better not. Oh,
someone else decided to knock first.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
It's locked. Have you got a key? Yes?
Speaker 6 (06:37):
Get it out quick?
Speaker 3 (06:38):
All right? Uh? Those were sharp her mind being brilliant here.
Thanks Max huh fell forward unto his desk. Window behind
him is open. Short dropped to an alley. We're a
little late. M Bullets went in under his left shoulder.
(07:02):
Blame uh, mister Templan's dead if that's what's bothering you.
Speaker 7 (07:05):
No, you see uh that man? Uh well, he's dressed
in a dark suit and his hair is the same color.
But that isn't maxim I uh phoned the police, quiet
(07:32):
at the boys out front and disposed of the customers.
I've been through the little stranger's pockets brand find anything?
Speaker 3 (07:38):
A couple of ten dollar chips?
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Oh have you ever.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Been to Allentown, Pennsylvania? Brand? Uh? No, this man has.
Speaker 6 (07:44):
How do you know that?
Speaker 3 (07:45):
Brilliants on my part? I looked at the label in
his suit. Came from hes Brother's department store in ALLENTOWNE.
Now you'll be just as brilliant and tell me his name.
Speaker 6 (07:54):
Uh Carrie.
Speaker 7 (07:55):
He's uh well, a business competitor.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
M rings a bell, don't stop.
Speaker 7 (08:00):
Then he and a man named Harris run a rival establishment,
the Red Wheel down the street.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Interesting they've been doing well.
Speaker 6 (08:06):
No.
Speaker 7 (08:07):
As a matter of fact, mister Harris was here yesterday
to see mister Maxon his reason, he uh, he accused
mister Maxon of unfair practices.
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Designer among these in a way interesting that it doesn't
explain why Carrie died in Maxon's office.
Speaker 7 (08:23):
Now he's built something like mister Maxon, he's wearing a
similar suit, and from the alley he could easily have
been mistaken for mister Maxon.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
To turn up. Ah, let the police worry about that.
Speaker 7 (08:33):
Are you leaving?
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Yes, I've got to acclaim some property property, Hm, my
stolen revolver.
Speaker 6 (08:38):
From Maddie North.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Yes, a lady who may have made a mistake. On
the other hand, she may not have had a chance to.
Speaker 7 (08:45):
Meaning what this is Maxon's office, that's Maxon's desk.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
But where is Maxon?
Speaker 5 (09:00):
Hey, mister Templer, just we was pulling away from the
Maxims joint.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
The other cops was pulling in.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
They always do after a murder, Eddie.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Oh then Maxin ain't no longer woulds?
Speaker 3 (09:10):
If you mean president? The answer is yes, If you
mean Dad, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
Oh, oh, this you think helps me?
Speaker 3 (09:16):
A man named Carrie was shot in Maxon's office badly
by mistake, not necessarily, however.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Well that's okay by me.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
If it was a mistake. Then his murderer could have
been Maddy North or possibly Paris, a business rival.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Oh yeah, this is very clear to me.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
If, however, Carry was shot as Carry uh huh, I
beg your pardon.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Well, I just thought this would be a nice place
to say. Uh huh. So if Carry was shot as Carrie.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
The killer then might have been Maxim.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Yes, so whichever will you look at it altogether? There
are three suspects. Huh. Yes, well that's a nice number.
So who lives at this address that I'm taking it to?
Speaker 6 (09:54):
A blonde, A leaning blonde.
Speaker 2 (09:56):
Yes, you want to find out if he's still leaning,
that's hi?
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Or if she fell? Oh hello, Maddie maconing.
Speaker 8 (10:18):
I I'm on my way to bed.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
You usually go to bed with your clothes on.
Speaker 9 (10:23):
I I I didn't have a chance to get them off.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
If you came here directly from the bar.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
I uh went for.
Speaker 8 (10:30):
A walk, A long walk, alright, A long walk.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
The way of the revolver didn't bother you?
Speaker 4 (10:36):
What what revolver?
Speaker 3 (10:39):
The one you borrowed from me?
Speaker 9 (10:40):
I didn't.
Speaker 8 (10:42):
I'd like it back, I I I don't have it.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
You led it to a friend.
Speaker 8 (10:45):
No, I I realized i'd been crazy.
Speaker 10 (10:49):
After I left the bar, I threw it away.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Before or after two shots were fired from it?
Speaker 9 (10:53):
Two shots.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
Where does that door lead to? Oh?
Speaker 8 (10:57):
That I it's it's the back door of the apartment.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
Funny place. I'd right opposite the front door. The architect
had no imagination. What's interesting about that door, Maddie. Nothing,
You've been watching it ever since I came in. I
think i'll have a look at it.
Speaker 8 (11:12):
Simon, don't open that door.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
I'm mad about back doors. M it's dark.
Speaker 6 (11:19):
You ought to speak to the landlord about oh m.
Speaker 8 (11:34):
Mmm m Simon.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
Simon, alright, alright, I'm ready for my music.
Speaker 6 (11:40):
Lesson, musically I'm the harp.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Or is this the other place?
Speaker 6 (11:45):
Let me help you up?
Speaker 3 (11:46):
Alrighto, Maddie, you're a female Benedict Arnold. I was happy
on the floor. Hand me my other.
Speaker 8 (11:54):
Head, Simon, Please, are you all right?
Speaker 3 (11:57):
I'm fine. My head may not be bloody, but it
certainly got bowed.
Speaker 6 (12:01):
I was so worried. And what that door turning out
to be a door leading to your bedroom?
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Not the back door at all?
Speaker 9 (12:07):
He who hit me?
Speaker 8 (12:10):
There was a suitcase over the door shelf.
Speaker 9 (12:13):
It fell when you opened the door.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
A suitcase with lungs. Maddie, it did breathing just before
it hit me. No, shall we go look for that shelf.
They don't usually build him over door. It was in
that room, Maddy.
Speaker 6 (12:26):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Could it have been Joe Maxim?
Speaker 9 (12:28):
You think I'd let him hide here?
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Oddly enough?
Speaker 4 (12:30):
I do, but I hate him.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
That's possibly true.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
You did steal my gun to kill him with, didn't you?
Maybe I did, but then you changed your mind. Or
perhaps you didn't change your mind. Perhaps you did kill him.
He's not dead, of course he isn't.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
But how did you know that? I I you knew
it because he's just been here, Maddie. Did you ever
wear glasses?
Speaker 9 (12:49):
No, my eyesight's perfect.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
W No. A man named Carrie carry I think so
my tense was wrong. I should have said you a
man named Carrie. He's dead. Somebody shot him earlier this
evening and Maxim's office, either because the killer thought he
was Joe, maximum because he didn't.
Speaker 8 (13:04):
You're making up some kind of a joke.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Of course, be sure to tell it to Joe the
next time you see him. He may die laughing.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Hello, Maddie, Joe, Oh, Joe, Temple. Yeah, did he tumble here?
Speaker 9 (13:24):
He guessed it was you.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Just so long as he isn't sure, Maddie, I I
need some dough. I gotta stay hold up for a while.
Why well, this business of Carrie getting bumped off in
my office? The CoP's a level. I think maybe I
bumped him off.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
He was sorry about the way you did business, wasn't he?
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Joe? Yeah?
Speaker 9 (13:42):
But did you kill him? Joe? Of course I didn't
no until tonight.
Speaker 6 (13:48):
You didn't even want to see me. But when you
get in a jam, Oh.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
It's not that, baby. I was busy. I was gonna
look you up the first chance.
Speaker 6 (13:55):
I got sure.
Speaker 8 (13:58):
I wish I was dope enough to believe you. But
even not believing you, I've got a few dollars, how
can I get them to you?
Speaker 3 (14:05):
I gotta keep moving around. I'm done at park growing out. Look, baby,
make it up on the bridge the pedestrian.
Speaker 9 (14:12):
Walk on an hour and I'll be all right. I'll
be bad.
Speaker 6 (14:16):
Joe, fine, Baby, fine.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Because.
Speaker 10 (14:22):
Because I love you, TA can.
Speaker 5 (14:33):
Have a long time to find out about that lean
and blonde mister Templar, it did so did you find out?
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (14:39):
Huh?
Speaker 3 (14:39):
I fell mister Templar, No, I did.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Well, it could happen to anybody.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
It didn't to me, So some days you can't make
a niggle.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Well, that's why.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
You're going to the Red Wheel. I think I should
meet mister Harris. He may have some information. He has
also got crooked roulette wheels, and I won't play.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
You're playing, mister Templar.
Speaker 5 (14:58):
From what I hear of mister harro Us, you could
easily be playing with death.
Speaker 7 (15:11):
It's open, mister Harris, I'm Harris, you'd be Templar.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Your boys downstairs were very thorough about searching me. They're
always very thorough.
Speaker 6 (15:23):
They've got their orders.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
I uh notice you've got the window shades drawn. Nervous
playing it safe a habit of mine. Your partner felt
the same way.
Speaker 7 (15:33):
No, Carrie was always on the reckless side. He said,
what the cops have been here, Templar, h.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Terrible tragedy, fine upstanding citizen like Carrie dead.
Speaker 7 (15:44):
I could spare your sarcasm.
Speaker 4 (15:46):
I'm not sure I couldn't. But do you think killed him?
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Harris?
Speaker 2 (15:49):
The cops didn't tell me.
Speaker 7 (15:50):
Then you'd know how much doubt do you think there
is about maxim Is the killer? A good deal of
doubt at the moment. You must have reasons I have.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Maxen's club was doing very well yours and Carry's isn't.
Why should Maxim bally killing an unsuccessful competitor.
Speaker 7 (16:06):
Kerry didn't care for the way Maxon had been steering
customers away from us. Carry, as I said, was on
the reckless side. He probably told Maxon how he.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
Felt, and Maxon, being a sensitive plant, promptly killed Carry.
Speaker 6 (16:18):
It's a possibility. Don't you think.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
I'm unarmed in your club? I don't think I can
afford to do much thinking it's on the house, thank you.
But still and has How did Carry and you get along?
Speaker 7 (16:31):
We got along fine? But you knew that's what I'd answer,
whatever the truth was.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
What is the truth?
Speaker 7 (16:36):
There's more than one way of answering anything, Templar, I.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
More than one way?
Speaker 6 (16:41):
Hash You're quite right, I am, which means that I'm
in a.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
Hurry about what if there's more than one way? I
don't get it? Perhaps not, but I suspect I've just
discovered how Carry got it. Who's there, Simon, Templar? Brian
(17:06):
place all closed out?
Speaker 7 (17:07):
What do you think the cops have been after us
for a long time. Carrie's shooting gives him their chance.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
It's a pity. What are you doing all alone here
at the bar, repressing your tears?
Speaker 6 (17:17):
Taking some nourishment.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
The vitamins can wait, Brent. How did Carry get into
Maxim's office? He must have sneaked in with you watching? Well,
I guess he didn't sneak in through the front door.
He must have got in through that back window, the
one that was open. Mm let's go take a look
at it.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Huh, alright.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
The last time I was here, all I had time
to do is take a quick look at that window.
There's something I've got to check. Go in, I'm going.
I did mention there was a drop to the alley
from the window. Uh, it still is.
Speaker 6 (17:57):
What does that mean?
Speaker 3 (17:58):
The theory has been for some time that maybe Carry
was shot by mistake.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Yes, it has been, and that.
Speaker 3 (18:03):
Would mean he'd have to have been shot through that window.
Speaker 6 (18:06):
What's wrong with that?
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Is a drop to the alley, Brant, somebody standing outside
wouldn't be able to see into the room or fire
a gun if someone in the room, I end uh,
maybe he stood on so we got into the room
seconds after the shooting. It wouldn't have been time to
remove anything from under the window. There wasn't anything under
the window, Brant.
Speaker 6 (18:24):
Why, I don't know what to say, Brent.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Carry didn't sneak into the office. You let him in. No,
there must be more than one way into this room
besides the front door. Well. Uh, that door uh leads
to what, hm bathroom? Another door here, yeah, leads to
the hallway too.
Speaker 6 (18:50):
Very nice, brand, what's very nice?
Speaker 3 (18:53):
Carrie wasn't shot by mistake.
Speaker 6 (18:54):
Whoever shut him intended to kill him.
Speaker 3 (18:56):
You let Carry in, perhaps deliberately. I didn't make you
an accessory.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
I didn't have any motive.
Speaker 7 (19:02):
Maxon might have had.
Speaker 3 (19:03):
Maxon didn't have opportunity. He didn't know Carry was in
his office.
Speaker 6 (19:07):
Well, sure he did it, I mean Max and.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
You Kerry was waiting for him. How did he know, Brent?
Speaker 2 (19:12):
I don't have to answer that.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
It might be the only thing to keep you out
of the chair.
Speaker 7 (19:15):
Well maybe I told him.
Speaker 6 (19:18):
You're not sure you said carry up for Maxim.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
That's not what I said.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
You didn't have to. I think you'd better stay in town, Brent.
The police get annoyed when they have to travel for
their witnesses. Sometimes they get so annoyed they don't even
let them turn state's evidence.
Speaker 5 (19:45):
There must a couple of time you come back even
quicker from a blade.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
But it had a good reason, Eddie. She's not home
a voice than that, Eddie, it's bad.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Well, it ain't such a cold noise.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
I gotta find her. Door man told me she took
a cab, but he noticed the kind of can is yours?
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Well, in that case, we are in.
Speaker 3 (20:04):
He got an idea, yea, all of us.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Camp he's up in this part of town. You see.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
We hang out at Sammy's and we ain't got a
fair Sammy. Yeah, that's the station a couple of blocks
over to the river. If the campy that dropped the
blonde any places around, I will loan all.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
Hey, come to think of, it's about time. Did I
learned the work anyway?
Speaker 3 (20:31):
Eddie, you are sure your information is correct?
Speaker 5 (20:33):
Yeah, the blonde took a camp to the New York
end of the Brooklyn Bridge. She got out, she started
walking across a bridge.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
And that's what you tell me before.
Speaker 7 (20:39):
But the truth the camby happens to be my brother
in law, and he always tells the truth, sure, except
to my sister.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
But why would Maddy be walking on the bridge at
this hour of the night.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
Who can tell about blondes.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Of course, she might be meeting someone there, or she
may decide to jump. I don't hear anything. Sure, I
(21:13):
didn't see you, not in the habit of standing on
the lamp posts.
Speaker 7 (21:17):
It.
Speaker 10 (21:17):
It's so dark up here on the bridge, so dark
and cold.
Speaker 6 (21:21):
I never mind the emotions.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
You got to dough.
Speaker 8 (21:22):
Yeah here, Joe, and thanks baby?
Speaker 6 (21:27):
Thanks baby?
Speaker 9 (21:29):
Is that all you've got to say to me?
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Joe?
Speaker 3 (21:32):
Somebody coming. Turn you back to the wall. We'll lean
over the rail.
Speaker 9 (21:36):
Al right.
Speaker 10 (21:41):
Whoever it was is gone.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
Joe, Maddy, Matty I, I I think you're swell. Sure,
maybe I didn't always act like I appreciated you, But
once I get out of this mess again. Oh no,
don't be like that, baby. I mean everything I say. Oh,
I better scram.
Speaker 8 (22:03):
Would it be asking too much if I wanted.
Speaker 9 (22:05):
You to kiss me?
Speaker 6 (22:07):
No, Max.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
I, I gotta hurry so long, Maddie.
Speaker 6 (22:16):
I'll be saying it, Maddie, why salon?
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Where's maxim? I?
Speaker 6 (22:26):
I I I don't know if you haven't.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
Got time to be cute. I came from the New
York end of the bridge. Maxon didn't pass me. He
must have gone on to Brooklyn.
Speaker 8 (22:33):
Simon, What do you want with him?
Speaker 3 (22:34):
You may not believe it, but I'm trying to save
his life. Did anyone pass you and Maxim on the bridge?
Speaker 9 (22:39):
Yes?
Speaker 8 (22:40):
Someone, We had our backs turned so we didn't see who.
Speaker 9 (22:43):
If it's who I think it is, Salon.
Speaker 6 (22:58):
Yes, yes it's Maxim.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
He's dead. Whoever killed him is heading for the Brooklyn
end of the bridge. It's got a start, perhaps too
much of a starting list.
Speaker 9 (23:08):
Where are you going?
Speaker 6 (23:09):
I'm climbing down to the roadway. Perhaps I can get
a hitch.
Speaker 2 (23:23):
But I don't understand it. Mister, don't try.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
I haven't enough time to explain for coming to the
end of the bridge. Slow down here, Well.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
All right, but I don't want to get any trouble.
Speaker 6 (23:31):
About his Thanks.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
What's it all about?
Speaker 3 (23:33):
Murder? Oh do goodbye, Good evening, mister Harris.
Speaker 6 (23:43):
In hurry, mister Harris.
Speaker 7 (23:44):
I was taking a walk on the bridge, taking a run.
You mean, well, I don't mind admitting I'm out of condition.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
That's sadly true, but I really must go along. I
haven't a point you have. It must still be.
Speaker 6 (23:58):
Warm, thank you?
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Yeah, it is still warm. Why, yes, mister Harris, I'll
get you for this. All I can understand why yourself upset?
Mister Harris, have made you late for.
Speaker 6 (24:13):
Your appointment, haven't I?
Speaker 3 (24:14):
And I don't worry even if you are late. The
executioner always waits.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
All the things that happen on bridges, And.
Speaker 5 (24:39):
Mister Templer, we have now deposited the blonde who wasn't
only not leaning, she was collapsing, poor Maddie. And we
have also deposited on mister Harris with some policemen, and
they were very.
Speaker 2 (24:50):
Happy to collect them. But do I know what happened?
Speaker 3 (24:54):
He murdered Joe Maxon up on the bridge.
Speaker 5 (24:56):
Yeah you know, all right, But then all you did
was just to hit you right on a car and
then you'll be him to the other end of the
bridge in Earquebu.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Now, mister Templar, I will admit that.
Speaker 5 (25:03):
This was a public spirited action maybe with honest it
ain't worthy of you.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
What do you mean, no clues? So but Eddie, I
already knew it would be Harry.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
Oh all right, well now I'm beginning to feel better.
So tell me how did you already know there would
be Harrish.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
Who could have killed Carry. One theory was that Carry
had been shot by mistake for Maxim. That might have
involved Maddie, but I eliminated that possibility on my second
trip to Maxon's plate.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
Oh yeah, I see, did the business about the alley?
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Yeah? Yeah. Another possibility was that Maxon and Carry quarreled
and that Maxim shot Carry.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Yeah, it just sounds.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Reasonable, except for the fact that, as I mentioned at
the time, Carrie was shot under the left shoulder blade,
meaning he was shot in the back. He wouldn't have
turned his back on an open enemy like Maxim.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Oh huh, Yeah, this also sounds reasonable. So that left Harris.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Yeah. By getting his own partner and framing max Harris
hoped to eliminate a business rival, thereby making his own
gambling club more valuable and at the same time gaining
sole ownership of Ahi. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
This guy was trying to kill two boys with one stone.
Speaker 3 (26:13):
A Hi. Yeah, here right, Eddie?
Speaker 5 (26:17):
Why I should drive your home now, mister Templar, I.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Guess so, Eddie is not a blonde in sight, not
even a leaning one.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
