Speaker 1 (00:03):
Hello, are you happy people?

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Neil Smith and Old Buck Buddy? Are you hearing Neil? Neil?

Speaker 3 (00:09):
I miss you, man, Donnes, I have a question. We
respect for me down by breaking a major story, Chris, congratulations.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Listen to a single score podcast.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
The Rise of the Liberty Loving Latino. What is the
book about? I know there's going to be a lot
of buzz. There's going to be a lot of talking
about what this book portends as we get closer and
closer to the publishing date. And I thought maybe i'd
get you guys a bit of a well, this is
actually an exclusive of the podcast.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
I haven't done this anyplace else.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
I don't anticipate doing it any play sels, because well,
there are just certain things I do for the podcast,
certain things I do for the radio shows, certain things
that for the TV shows. The Rise of the Libertly
Loving Latino is coming out on December ninth, and we
have well, I actually have a dedication. This book is

(01:26):
dedicated to my wife and my family and of the
Chris Helsado Show audience who have been gracious enough to
pick up what I've been laying down so very much
a part of the audience is this book and helping
me formulate the chapters in this book. There's an introduction.
It's called the book No One wanted. You would be

(01:49):
surprised how many people looked at the greatest political revolution
to hit the United States since the formation of the
Republican Party.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
And said, yeah, no, we don't.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
We think that's too narrow. What Yeah, it happened. Chapter
one The Rise of the liberty loving Latino and magifest Destiny.
Chapter two The rise of identity politics and intersectionality. Folks,
this not only do we detail the rise of what

(02:21):
had become the norm in America, we detail its demise
and again circles right back to the America First agenda
of President Trump and how the Latinos paid played a
key role in the demise of identity politics and intersectionality.
The Democrats don't know what to do. The Democrats are
actually out there saying that they want to oppose Latino

(02:43):
districts because those Latino districts are majority Republican. Now it's crazy, right,
And by the way, when if Republicans ever did that,
they'd be called racists. And when the Democrats do it,
you know, aren't they aren't they the same? The Democrats
can't live up to the impossible standards they impose on
their on their opponents. Chapter three, The rise of the unimpeachable.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
This is a this is a key one, folks.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
This is how the Democrats have been allowed to basically
hamstring weak minded Republicans and it's it's quite fascinating. The
rise of narrative over news. That's a that's something that
you and I have been developing in this audience for
quite some time as we've watched the biased press descend

(03:31):
into their political narratives and basically omitting and ignoring the news.
Chapter five, The rise of suppression and oppression. Number six,
the rise of the pushback movement, of which the Latino
community was very.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Much a part of.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
Chapter seven, The rise of left wing lawlessness, which we
saw take place really since the occupation of the Oval
office of Barak Hussein. Chapter eight, the rise of state
sponsored destruction at Barack Hussein. Obama also instrumental in infecting
the government with those dedicated.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
To the destruction of our country.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Chapter nine, The rise of the left wing racist. By
the way, they've always been racist, but now it's becoming
widely known that they are. That the left wing and
the Democrat Party, the Party of Racism, The Ideology of
Racism and Division. Chapter ten, the conclusion, the Rise of
the Awakening, and then some acknowledgments in the back. So

(04:34):
those are the chapters in the Rise of the Liberty
Loving Latino A New American Revolution. And folks, I'm not
being pumping this up as is to what I think
this is when you see the fundamental shift that took
place in the Hispanic slash Latino community in the twenty

(04:54):
twenty four election, when you see where everybody had been,
millions and millions and millions of the had been and
where they ended up. And the shock at which the
likes of CNN and MSNBS and the Democrats they.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Were like, whoa, whoa, whoa whoa whoa, whoa what what?

Speaker 4 (05:12):
The majority of Latinos in Texas voted for Trump? What?
Forty eight percent of the Hispanic slash Latino community voted
for Trump in the election? What what? And it was?

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Folks, I, well, we detail a lot.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
There was. Everything that I mentioned in the chapter breakdown
was responsible for it. But there was one big issue
that drove Latinos to the polls illegal immigration and the
Democrat parties pushing of it, We visit with another liberty
loving Latino coming up next on the Salsado Storm podcast.
And now a word from our sponsor. Oh jeez, if
I hear another Obamacare commercial telling me how great it is,

(05:47):
I think I'm going to vomit. In reality, folks are
paying out the nose for crappy insurance, meaning those commercials
are just as much bs as Obamacare is. What if
you're under sixty five ineed quality affordable health coverage? American
Medical Plans specializes in under sixty five health insurance plans
that have zero copays at the doctor and no deductible
on all outpatient services, including surgeries. You pick your doctors

(06:09):
and hospitals. There are private plans and roll any time,
and there are thirty to sixty percent less than Obamacare.
If you're paying too much for your own health insurance,
call American Medical Plans. They are the answer to the
cancer that is Obamacare.

Speaker 1 (06:23):

Speaker 4 (09:17):
Slash Chris Just a reminder, folks, make sure you visit
Chrisalsato dot com. Lots of tidbits there for you, including
the new book that's coming out December ninth, The Rise
of the Liberty Loving Latino and folks. Might I say
that this book is reflective not only of the research
we have done over the course of a year and

(09:37):
the cramming in of a decade of the Chris Salsato
shows and podcasts into the book, but it is also
reflective of what we're dealing with today. I just made
mention that the polls are showing that the Democrat Party
is bleeding supporters two point one million voters have left

(10:00):
the Democrat Party, two point four million have joined the Republicans,
and a big, a massive chunk of that is the
Latino community who finally decided that you know what, Democrat
ain't where it's at, and they are leaving in droves.
They left in droves before the election and they are

(10:22):
living in droves after the election because all the Democrats
have done is doubled down on what has lost them
the country, and because the country realizes that we almost
lost our country because of Democrats. I want to bring
on somebody who has been in the trenches a very,

(10:42):
very long time, folks. His name is Orlando Sanchez. He
is a United States Air Force veteran served in the
Texas Air National Guard, been a longtime player in Texas
GOP politics.

Speaker 2 (10:53):
He was elected County.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
Treasurer three times for Harris County. Serves on the board
of directors of Capitol Bank, e s A Hospital, and
University of Houston Foundation Board of Trustees.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Mister Sanchez, welcome.

Speaker 5 (11:06):
Good morning, Chris.

Speaker 4 (11:07):
How are you doing well, sir.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
It's a great to have you.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
I'm going to get to your big announcement probably here
question my third question in but I want to lay
some groundwork here about who and where you've been. What
you've been, and where you've been. Tell me about your
efforts to train up Latino conservatives in the strait in
the state of Texas to run for political office and

(11:31):
change the narrative the left wing press is told about Latinos.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
Well, first of all, thank you for having me on
the program. It's an honor to be with you. As
you know, Chris, I've been active in the Republican Party
since the nineteen eighties and ninety two, I was the
Republican nominee for the Texas House of Representatives, and then
I was elected to the Houston City Council for three
terms for six years, and I ran for mayor in

(11:58):
two thousand and one, and then I became the first
Latino immigrant ever elected county wide in Harris County as
a county treasurer. And so during that period I had
been watching the voter population trends, not voter trends, but
population trends in Texas, and the state demographers were predicting

(12:22):
the explosion of the Latino population in Texas. And at
the time I realized that my party, the Republican Party,
wasn't doing enough to reach out and explain to the
Latino community that our values were aligned. And so I
created an organization called Texas Latino Conservatives and the whole

(12:46):
purpose of it was to create a political action committee
to support conservative Hispanics running across the state of Texas.
But we also created a five oh one C three,
which is a nonprofit organization that teaches and advocates for
conservative principles among Latinos. And within that organization, I created

(13:08):
what's called Leadership Latino, which is a class, if you will,
that trains young Hispanics how to participate in the political
process anywhere from press secretary to precinct chair to candidate,
whatever level they want to participate in, we would train them.
And oddly enough, in twenty seventeen, I went down to Brownsville,

(13:30):
Texas and held one of these classes, and one of
my students was a young lady named Mita Florides. And
you know, the rest is history. She became the first
Mexican born Latina conservative ever elected to the US Congress.
But she wasn't alone. Chris Michelle Gamboa, a native of

(13:51):
what is Mexico, a Texas a and m graduate was
the first Latina ever elected to the Longview City Council.
We helped elect Roman Guard to the city council in Kerrville, Texas.
Joel Castro is a city council member in Alvin, Texas.
And so we've been instrumental in many conservative Latinos running

(14:12):
for office, not the least of which we won a
Democrat district in southern Bear County with a candidate by
the name of John Luhan. John now sits as a
Republican in southern Democrat Bear County as a result of
the efforts of the Texas Latino Conservatives and our coalition partners. Indeed,

(14:34):
so we're doing great work. And as you know, Chris,
we are in a major political realignment in the United States.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
As a matter of fact, it was the subject of
my new book, The Rise of the Liberty Loving Latino,
a New American Revolution. It is the greatest political shift, folks,
since the creation of the Republican Party. It's coming out
December ninth, so make sure you make sure you mark
that in your calendar, or maybe you can jump on
Amazon and get a copy early. You'll save yourself some bucks.

(15:05):
But folks, Trump won the majority of Hispanics in Texas
forty eight percent of Latinos across the nation. Mister Sanchez,
why do you think that happened?

Speaker 5 (15:19):
Well, several reasons. As you know, the Latino community is
culturally conservative, but above that we are economically conservative. And
so this realignment, this political phenomenon that we see going
on across the United States, but particularly in Texas, started

(15:41):
in the nineteen eighties. To have a political realignment, you
have to have a pre alignment, and that started back
in the nineteen eighties with Ronald Reagan. A pre alignment
basically is apathy and disillusionment within one party. We saw
that in the nineteen eighties where Democrats were a little disillusioned,
were apathetic, and that created a whole new set of

(16:03):
independent voters in America. What happened in the nineteen eighties
they went for Ronald Reagan and then a big landslide
in nineteen eighty four, and so that disillusionment led to
a delignment, which was they completely decoupled from the Democratic Party.
And so what's happened today Chriz is now a realignment,

(16:25):
meaning that Latinos are now shifting to the Conservative Party,
the Republican Party, and we see this trend. Let me
just give you some statistics. In nineteen seventy six, the
Democrats won seventy four percent of the Latino vote. In
twenty twelve, that slipped down to seventy one. In twenty sixteen,

(16:46):
Hillary won sixty six percent of the Latino vote. In
twenty twenty, Biden won sixty five percent of the Latino vote,
and in twenty twenty four Harris only got fifty two
percent of the Latino vote. Trump achieve the highest percentage
of Hispanic votes in the United States, getting forty six
percent of the vote. So we're clearly in a major

(17:08):
political realignment in this country led by Hispanics and Latinos
in this country.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
Indeed, and again because of the cultural conservatism you made
reference to, and I think it's also just on a
practical level. You look at the Democrat Party, which is
now the party of the criminal, the party of the criminal,
illegal alien, the party of surrendering to communists and socialists
and Marxist all over the globe, of less quality of life,

(17:36):
and no Latino works hard all their lives to get
to give less to their children. And that's the Democrat Party,
and they are the party of slavery. All let's not
forget that, folks. We're talking to Orlando Sanchez. He is
a United States Air Force veteran ben in Texas politics
many many moons, and I want to ask you about
the announcements you made just last week because you are

(17:57):
going to challenge an individual I call Looney Lina Adalgo
Looney Lina Adalgos as the and the Commissioner's Court for
County judge. And I'm just fascinated to ask you this
question about what prompted you to come off the sidelines
and by the way, doing great work that you're doing

(18:18):
to make this challenge. What was it the number one
thing that got you off the off that and to
jump into the race.

Speaker 5 (18:27):
Well, Chris, as you know, I spent twelve years as
the county treasurer of the third largest county in the
United States. I actually ran the checkbook and by the way,
I posted that checkbook online for complete transparency for the taxpayers.
But in the period that I served as county treasurer,
Harris County was in the black. That means that we

(18:49):
ended every fiscal year with money in the bank. In
addition to that, we were lowering our bond indebtedness. That
means the amount of money we borrowed we were paying down.
Compare that to twenty twenty five, where Harris County now
is approaching three hundred million dollar deficits. The property tax

(19:14):
rate has exploded to thirty eight and a half cents
per one hundred dollars valuation.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
What does that mean?

Speaker 5 (19:23):
That means that the hard working families of Harris County
are now having to pay a bigger chunk of their
income to a growing government that doesn't serve what the
taxpayers expect. We expect the criminal justice system that serves
the hard working, law abiding taxpayer. We've turned the tables

(19:45):
with criminal justice. We now make it profitable in Harris
County to be a criminal. What does that mean? Burglary
of a motor vehicle. You park in a parking lot,
they break your window, they steal your laptop, they pay
your gun, they take items out of your car. That
criminal is given a free get out of jail card

(20:07):
to go do it again, and the taxpayer has to
buy a new laptop, a new weapon, replace the window, misswork,
and so this county is completely upside down. We've created
departments in Harris County called economic equity and opportunity. What
the heck does that mean? How about addressing flood control?

(20:29):
How about our toll roads? Our streets are infrastructure. So
we've taken our eye off the ball in Harris County
and I decided I'd had enough of Lena Hidalga.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
Yeah, well we haven't. They have.

Speaker 4 (20:41):
They've taken their eye off the ball. And you know
you mentioned the already skyrocketing tax burden that the left
wing run Harris County and the left wing run City
of Houston, what they must endure, and now they want
to raise your taxes even more. Looney, Lina Adola, go,
I'm gonna play this sound by it for you and
just get your reaction. The Commissioner's Court in Harris County

(21:05):
is run by a functional child, folks, and you're going
to hear this functional child as she actually solicits the
help of actual children to seek to raise your taxes.
I'll play the sound by it, then I'll get your.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Reaction, sir.

Speaker 4 (21:21):
So the motion is to set up public hearing on
August fifteenth, twenty twenty five, at ten am, to consider
for the Harris County General Fund the proposed twenty twenty
five tax rates.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
Her bring the kids here and ask each member yes
or no?

Speaker 5 (21:32):
Yes, Commission Garcia, porn of order.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
There's been a motion made, no second, and we're in discussion. Actly,
I didn't make emotion. I just read what it's going
to be. You said no, I didn't say no.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
I didn't. Okay, Well, I take it.

Speaker 4 (21:44):
Back education support.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
So kids, we're trying to see.

Speaker 5 (21:47):
Can you guys count to three, one, two, three?

Speaker 3 (21:51):
Okay?

Speaker 5 (21:51):
So I'm one, So we need two and three. We
need three votes so that we can can we can
we can put this on the ballot.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
Discuss is the word, as she would she would use
children to try to raise taxes on their parents to
lower the children's quality of life. That this is insanity.
And by the way, Garcia on the Commissioner's court Folks,
is also a Democrat.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
And I don't know, mister Sanchez.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
You saw this display, and I think many people in
Houston and Harris County were like, that's a step too far.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
Many Democrats said it's a step too far.

Speaker 5 (22:29):
What was your reaction, Well, Chris, let me tell you
this is what happens when you hire a rookie, someone
that has no clue about government, its responsibilities, its roles
to serve the taxpayers. Lena had algo, had absolutely zero
experience in government, and you get what you pay for.

(22:51):
You got a rookie. And now eight years later, the
county is upside down. Criminals were property tax rates have
gone through the roof, infrastructure is crumbling, and so this
is the third largest county in the United States. We
cannot have rookies at the helm. And this is exactly
what we're seeing. You see a person that is in

(23:13):
a combative relationship even with her politically aligned colleagues. Leslie
Briones and Adrian Garcia are Democrats, She's always fighting with them.
She does have the support of Commissioner Rodney Ellis, whom
I argue is really the person in charge of Harris County.
And of course we've seen the results. We didn't elect

(23:35):
Rodney Ellis to be the county judge. We had elected
him to be the commissioner of Precinct one. But for
God's sake, she has ceded her responsibility to mister Ellis,
and now you see this commotion on the Commissioner's court.
We can't afford to have rookies in the job.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
Chris Right and again I think that she didn't have
Not only is she not have any experience in government,
she had no experience in life life whatsoever. And I
think you're spot on in your evaluation that Rodney Ellis
is the puppet master behind this meat puppet. Who is
the is the county judge Lena Adalgo, who has been

(24:14):
abhorrent at her job. Now, judging how unpopular this woman
is Lena Adalgo, with even those of her party on
the court, I would imagine there are some Democrats who
might be supporting you coming in and actually winning this
election to restore sanity to a commissioner's court. So maybe

(24:34):
they can actually get some business done.

Speaker 5 (24:36):
What do you think, Well, let me say that, first
of all, the bridge to the future of the Republican
Party and Harris County is the Latino vote.

Speaker 2 (24:49):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (24:50):
The more Hispanics we get crossing over and voting conservative,
voting with the Republican Party, the longer the Republican Party
and conservatism days in Texas. And my whole goal for
the last twenty five thirty years has been to ensure
that Hispanics received the message of fiscal conservatism, family values,

(25:13):
strong patriotism, which are all the values of the Hispanics,
and so my hope is that we can win Harris
County back with the large, growing percentage of Hispanics that
are participating. You know, let me give you a statistic.
In the year two thousand, only seven point four percent
of the vote nationally was Hispanic. In twenty twenty, it

(25:36):
went up to thirteen point six in twenty twenty four,
it became fourteen point seven percent. In twenty twenty six,
we're projected to be Hispanic Conservatives more than fifteen percent
of the total vote, meaning that you cannot win elections
in the United States, in Texas or Harris County without
the Latino conservative vote.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
It's awesome and again it shows you, folks, it's right
in line with what we're writing about. I wasn't being
rhetorical when I said it was the biggest political revolution
since the formation of the Republican Party. And that's exactly
what we cover in the rise of the liberty loving
Latino and one of the individuals who's been in the
trenches making sure that rise happened, that Latinos could actually

(26:21):
be the instrument by which not keeping the Democrats in
power and perpetuity, but also giving real Americans a chance
to have a voice again in their government. Orlando Sanchez,
if folks want to check out your effort to become
the next county judge of Harris County, where can they go?

Speaker 5 (26:39):
Well, I'm going to give two websites. Chris. First of all,
our biggest and overarching task is to keep Texas conservative
and keep Texas rid for the foreseeable future and for
generations to come. So I invite people to go to
Texas Latinoconservatives dot com. We survived because of the generosity

(26:59):
of Texas. But if they're interested in the upcoming election
in twenty twenty six, where I've declared my candidacy for
County Judge of Aris County, you can go to Orlando
Sanchez dot com.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
All right, Orlando Sanchez dot com. And by the way, folks,
I just have to point out that the demographics, just
the numbers alone, scares the daylights out of leftists, don't.
I don't recommend the Republican Party per se. And that's
why I am the executive director of the Conservative Hispanic Society.

(27:38):
Why mister Sanchez here runs a conservative organization, It's an
organization of ideals and of values, not necessarily of political parties.

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Vote your values.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
It's like I always tell you, mister Sanchez, thank you
very much, appreciate the time, and good luck.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Keep us posted.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
Thanks Chris, that right there is going to put a.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
Rap on this Alceto Storm podcast till we visit again.
My friends, Remember this society's worth isn't measured by how
much power stolen by government. A society's worth is measured
by how much power is reserved for you and me,
we the people.

Speaker 2 (28:09):

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
