the NHL and NBA playoffs. But the college basketball season

when there's a National championship in your front yard. Literally,
I could have thrown a rock and hit like the
official NCAA lot attendant that was working the Alamodome from
where I live. You have to stop down and change

your schedule around the the not just the game tonight.
Obviously we're going on after, but the whole weekend was
It's just change any plans you had if you forgot
it was coming to town.

Oh buddy, just what that brings? What you are two
episodes in already a professional. As always on Monday nights,
we start with a little weekend recap and you can
already imagine, you know, my with my house being where
it's where it is located. We were right in the
heart of things and it's you know, I guess I

sort of miss underestimated exactly how not how many people
they were gonna be downtown, because downtown was packed, every bar,
every restaurant it I would love. I'm gonna try to
get one of my buddies that owns a restaurant bar
right there across from the Dome, Charity Bar. I'm gonna

try to get him on soon. To talk about just
some of the you know exactly. We hear all these
numbers from city government it's going to bring such and
such millions of dollars to San Antonio. Well, I'd love
I'd love to hear from you know, actually talk to
a local bar restaurant owner from you know, the downtown
in the neighborhood that like, what kind of pop you know,

just straight from the horse's mouth, What did it do
for you? Because it looked like every place was packed.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Are you talking about the expansion.

Speaker 4 (05:51):
The the new arena, the whole overpass walkway, all that
kind of stuff.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Well, that'll be nice when it only gets here. But
just as it was right now with the infrastructure we have,
it was I mean, it seemed like it was.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
It seemed like it was a big win, especially judging
by you know, hearing multiple reporters say, you know, how
well San Antonio did carrying the event, how well they
did organizing it, how well how much just people liked
the city.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
It sounded it seemed like, yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
I didn't really hear any big complaints about.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
It, which is you know, besides, we bitched a little
bit about the traffic and construction, and that was Still.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
We are lucky compared to other cities in La Rive,
especially La It's another world.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
We are lucky, but the excuse, the excuse shouldn't be
at least we're not as bad as Boston.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
You know, we could still do better, is all I'm saying.

But outside of that massively successful weekend you mentioned, you mentioned,
it looks like we had a little bit of fun.

Yeah, Facebook stocked you a little bit.

Curmudgeon, a geriatric millennial.

Yeah, properly.

Now we uh you know, as we are wont to
do on weekends with uh, you know, no kid related responsibilities.
And when an event this big is in town, you
got to match the you gotta match the level of
the event. And we we did our best to achieve that.
We went out quite a bit and it I was

we were all talking earlier, the roommates here, Uh she
watched the game with us, and you know we were
talking about how every bar you walked into you immediately identified,
Oh that's a journal that guy writes for the Ringer.
Oh you know, those are the barstool guys. Those We'll
talk a little bit about them. But like you saw

a lot of uh you know, journalists, you recognized media
personalities that you reconnize. I mean, hell, we saw the Hornet,
We saw Billy Napier, the head Florida football coach earlier today.
So just walking around, you know, and that we were
over by the Convention Center, were walking like over by
the Alamodome.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
So it was one of those weird.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
I know this person and they're sitting in my neighborhood
bar that I go to every weekend to watch sports,
and now there's a guy that.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Writes for It's like a disconnected feeling.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
You're like, I'm somewhere different, but I'm exactly where I
always go every week.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
And that's exactly what it was because also with the
journals that were in town, also came the influencers and
influencers in their own right, but also the only fans girls.
And let me just tell you, strike it where it's hot,
that's where. That's where it felt like. We were in

uh La Atlanta, Miami, you know, not exotic, but just
it felt it felt like a party town.

You just felt a nipis come somewhere.

It felt I've never seen as much plastic, I've never
seen as much work done in my neighbor like I
walk into my neighborhood bar, and all of a sudden,
it feels it's like I'm in a different city. These
are not the same, Like I know the people that
come here every weekend, Like I know generally what a
San Antonio crowd looks like, even if I don't know

who they are. These were not San Antonio crowds. These
were not your locals.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
Yes, below you, ma'am, I should not come here.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
I immediately walked in and you know, my uh, you know,
six foot four self conscious ass immediately started thinking like,
oh wait.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
A second, Like I I I don't think I need
to be like belong around these people.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
I'm not a did you go to the bathroom, check yourself,
get your hair comb, make sure the stash is looking good.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
Well, I mean I I had I had the roommate
with me, so I had to make sure.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
I had to make.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
Sure there was no one there that was from the
male side of things that was gonna necessarily be looking
too much better than me.

She's not gonna tell you if you got some on
your teeth. He's like, no, she's gonna leave me. She's
gonna hang me out to dress.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
She's just like, hey, isn't that that writer you said
you knew, go talk to him.

Yeah, go make a fool of yourself. No, it was
we sat there, we set at the bar a couple
of times this weekend and played the game of uh,
professional entertainer.

Or oh you're telling the street walkers. Yeah, well you
know they travel again, the highly, the elevated, the elevated.

Only fans h girls that the event seemed to bring in.
It felt I was kind of waiting for Bonnie Blue
to show up at any moment.

Yeah exactly.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Hey, those those women are millionaires and entrepreneurs. I absolutely
applaud their work everything. The uh, you know, big takeaway
again is it went at event like this happens in
your city.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
You got to take advantage of it. So we were out.
We were out as much as we could.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
We never went into the music festival, but just walked around.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
You could.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
I mean, it's not like the sound was contained. You
could hear it just walking around. Went to Uh, we
went to the fan fest.

We're not front row.

We're not standing up at the front people anymore. Even
though I did tell him a nice little hack to
do it, because we are tall and big enough.

Is you take the.

Flashlight and as you're walking up to the front, you
take your phone and shine the flash light in your
eyes and say security, security, Security, And you can do
that all the way up to the front.

It would take me back to my Aztec theater days
of just put the security voice on, get back into
that mindset. But it was I mean again, uh, we
went to the fan fest, saw ended up walking past
Christian Latner, which is just like that doesn't happen on a.

Normal weekend in my.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Town, in San Antonio, in our in our town. You
know that was buddy, Yes, yeah, Now if it had
been Steve Wojahowski, I wouldn't have been able to do.

This stream tonight.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
I would have been I would have been so exhausted
from the mental gymnastics of just playing that moment over
and over in my head. But of course, mentioning Duke
were we're gonna talk about We're gonna talk about the
game we just watched. We're gonna talk about the game Saturday.
Because all in all those three games were that was outstanding.

That was the best you could ask for.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
You got four number one seeds, you got three awesome games.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
That's gonna be our comebacks. Yeah yeah, you.

Speaker 3 (12:45):
Got, you got storylines, you got individual stars, you got upset,
you got and you got the stars either rising to
the occasion or looking lost at times. So, uh, final
four is gonna be our main segment. We're gonna tie
a little bit of Spurs talk again in with the

Final Four because we also over the weekend got officially
eliminate Spurs got officially eliminated from play in contention, So
we'll see you all of that will make up the
main segment. As far as I know, a lot of us,
you know, this weekend is gonna be a lot of
the same stories with the Final Four in town. But

I found myself, I mean, obviously I watch a lot
of sports on weekends, Yeah, a lot.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Yeah, that's what we do.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
A fanatical amount of sports. This weekend felt like I
turned the channel on at nine am for Premier League
games or nine am for Premier League games, and I
was watching all day.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
You know, that's like my teams. You know, we had
soccer in the morning. We had Rangers playing a day game.
We had stars playing back to back day games. We
had a.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Local SAFC on Big CBS, like all of it with
Spurs games. I mean, we had just NonStop. It felt
like everything was staggered very nicely. I mean, hell, Vo
Texas Open was in town even and those scores, yeah,
that was the weather. The completely changed the complexion of

that tournament. But just not only the final four, uh,
but just all across San Antonio. I mean s AFC
on national TV, the Valero Texas Open on national TV,
and the final four in your town. It was I
almost felt like Randy from like it was.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
It was almost too much, got too much sports. San
Antonio got to shine this weekend, which is very.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Nice, big time and again everyone seemed to say that
it's not just us saying that, as everyone seemed to
be saying celerities.

Everything.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
Valero Open was great and that was to the final.
You know, they almost were blowing it the top guy.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
I think it was, uh, Harmon and Harmon. It was
just basically about just maintain par and you would win.
And someone that's played that course, that's of course, well
there's a reason it's okay.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Course I don't want to spend a lot of time
on it.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
But I wish they would rotate courses again, just because
I would love. You know, that's the sixth oldest golf
tournament in the US.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
That thing has so much tradition. I mean there were
you know, there were.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Major US Opens played or either US Opens or not
PGA champions No at Brack in the hearted, you know, downtown.
I would just love not that it would ever go
back to Brack. That would be awesome, but you know
they're the two lock and Terror courses.

Or shoot like like one who cares?

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Like the winner was what I think eight or nine
under harmon this week. But anyway, I wish they would
rotate it just because JW is so far out there.
That's more like a it's more like a Valero Texas
Open held in the hill country than it is in
at you know, proper San Antonio. But the sprawl anyway,
too much time on the blarro. But like I was saying,

weekend was a lot of sports, I would assume that
it was the same for you same a.

Just I was trying to get man one thing with
this weather going from one hundred degrees to fifty degrees
my knees were like, I'm getting old, no cartilage, and
I started the aqua therapy. Oh yeah, hey, I was ready.
I walked in there, your choice or doctors, Well, my

choice and the doctor okay.

I was suggested as.

Speaker 4 (16:37):
A lot of trainers told me check her. You go
at the door, do what you're supposed to do. Just
try to get better quality of life. Yeah yah, yeah, right.
So I walk in there and no, I'm gonna be
the youngest person, not by thirty years old, but I
was the youngest person. I was ready to go, you know,
and I'm ready to get in the pool.

And I can laugh at that joke because I've had
already at thirty nine.

So I feel, I feel.

This, And unbeknownst to me, it was just the evaluation.
So they had me to do a lot of box
squads's and box squads, get up and walk to this cone.
What's your flexibility like? And by the end I'm like,
we're not getting the pool. They're like no, and I'm like,
somewhere in my speedo for nothing could have told you
could have told me. I'm in there rocking a banana

hammock and people are looking at me and I'm just
I'm ready to go swimming.

This is the thing, this is the thing about you.

But you could have also. You absolutely could have also
said hell yeah. I was in a like yes, like

Sport I know you watched the most of when you're
not doing water based therapy. I know baseball is your
most watched and last Monday we were talking about the
you know, the evil menace of the torpedo bat, and
exact God put that thing away, the Derek Jeter bat

that he's now showing on stream now. Last week it
was the panic that the torpedo bat was causing. I
would assume you've watched, if not every one of the
Yankees game since, but all of them.

Okay, so I missed half a game because I didn't
know it was on earlier, but I watched them all.

We came back to Earth.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
We'll hold that against you that game, I know, right, And.

The hype over the torpedo bat died down because, oh,
unbeknownst to us, we played a Yankee stadium with a
bunch of left handers in a short porch, and we
have Aaron Judge, the greatest home run hitter in our
generation at this time, and all of a sudden, you're like, oh,
they hit nine home runs in one game, surprise, surprise,
against a weak pitcher and week relief staff in Milwaukee.

They're getting it right now. But now we come back
to Earth. It's starting to shape now, even though Aaron Judge, you.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
Know, okay, hold on holding. We're not doing this every week.
I'm not gonna be I'm not gonna be bogged down
by Yankees talk every week. LG, do you have do
you have the ability to give me? I'm gonna give you.
I'm gonna give you a Yankees minute every Monday night,

because here's here's the clock, here's here's the logic behind it.
My Rangers are eight and two, that is true. They've
got the best starting pitching e r A in the
al Right, it might be in all of baseball. They
they're not hitting their team batting averages under two hundred.
But I think the Rangers have staying power. Any team

in the history of baseball that has gone eight and
two over any ten game stretch during a season while
hitting under two hundred. They've all, like four of the
six have appeared in the World Series.

That was kind of the Yankees last We overperformed with
our pitching, our young starters, and then we came back
to Earth.

And I think that, I mean, clearly that's going to happen,
especially if they keep not being able to hit. They're
just smashing home runs right now with no torpedo bats yet.
I think Jock Peterson used one for a game, but
it hasn't gone back to it. But I think the
Rangers are going to be in the long fight for
the AL. I will feel bad for Astros fans because

some Houston fans, some of my Houston fans, have felt
bad about the Luca trade. I will say, if you're
an Astros fan and you saw Bregman win AL Player
of the Year or Player of the Week and Kyle
Tucker win NL Player of the Week.

I hate that for you personally as a fan. I
love it for the prospects of my Rangers, but I
think Houston will still be around. I think at the
end of the day, the three teams that I have
the most confident or have the most confidence in is Texas, Houston,
and New York. So that being said, I think Astros
and Rangers fans both need to keep an eye on

what the Yankees are doing. So every Monday, that's al

to tell us whatever you want to about the past

pre order option plan that only so far.

I'm a little worried about the pre orders being pushed back,
but I'm also I mean, it's not what it doesn't

About not to overshadow Clayton Junior's performance in the first game,
but really Auburn ran out of gas. Florida's depth just
finally beat them down in that second half. That Auburn
