who I don't get this thing? Hit a couple of
them up and they're telling me they're not Cowboy fans
this season? But you in contract negotiations with another team.
Michael Parsons. He said, currently he holding out watching the

Yeah, a lot of people like to feel like it's
a year to year thing.

Well, at some people jump ship this offseason, So now,

They were just I think it was partly public shame
and whatever. They didn't like how Jerry was handling the
Michael Parsons situation.

Now, what do they think that Jerry should have done.

He should have just paid Michael Parsons. Why why should
I just have paid Michael Parsons? What part of the equation?
Now't they have a thing out on Netflix where Jerry
buys the team and after the first year he trades
Hershel Walker. He was able to take those trades, as

we famously know, and get a lot of draft picks
that eventually ended up being three Super Bowls. So why
have we already boxed this Michael Parson trade up to
be a failure And people thought the same thing about
trading Hershel Walker.

I think that the timing of it is, you know,
a player of Michael Parson's talent, you don't let that go?
Why not trade that, well, every every team needs pass rushers,
but I need multiple guys.

If I'm looking, I'm just because I hear people, and
it's like, I'm not saying that those people, or you,
or whoever feels that way is wrong. I'm saying, but
there is another side to it that I talk about, Like,
if you don't think you got the team, why are
you paying this person? I definitely know I talk about

it in the NBA. Why would you go pay some
guy to stay on your team when you ain't got
the team? Why would the Suns They'll go pay Devin
Booker two hundred and fifty million dollars just to continue
to be seventh in the West.

But I think with what I'm seeing a little bit
of the difference between with the NBA is that kind
of the rule of kind of incentivize players to stay
with their teams. The NFL doesn't have that same kind
of structure with as far as contracts go. But players
of Michael Parsons talent don't often hit the free agent

market in that way. They would normally stay with with
the team. So a trade being made like this, I
think just because it just happened, a couple of weeks
ago that it doesn't it seems like a mistake by
the Cowboys because of what they got for it, or
that if Parsons is one of the best pass rushers

in the league, you don't let you don't trade that guy.
You pay that guy to keep him on your team.
I understand what you're saying. As far as they're not
a Super Bowl contender, they don't look that way. So
I just keep paying you high numbers to be you
feel like if you're another player away, but you're taking
up the money for another player. I got a question,

Is that's the juggling, and this is just this is
the Dallas Cowboys for dummies question.

Just whatn't Michael Parsons like in the last year of
his contract? So he his rookie contract, right, No, So

Contract, yes or no, he was still in the contract.

But Austin as you as you will see with guys
who are undir rookie contract going into the fourth year
of that five year deal, that's when the uh contract
extensions come in and normally the fifth year, if there
is no contract agreed to, then that player may hold

that's where the holdouts come in, right, I understand those,
and I know some teams immediately cave to that kind
of pressure.

They immediately go, let's make the deal. And then some
teams don't negotiate with terrorists. Well, and you know, I'm
not calling like parsons of terrorists. I'm just saying some
people have said that I have in my contract given
you as much as I am agreeing to give you
in this span of time. We still got a year

left on that, and you want a brand new deal.
Now you get this brand new deal and it's guaranteed,
and then you game number one.

So I really don't and even to what sports Jock's saying,
I can't pay for the ten person airbnb when only
three of us say we're showing up so that we're
rating resources at this point. So I think a lot
of people get offended and they getting their emotional feelings

when Jerry Jones talks about it like it doesn't matter
to him and he's the owner, when it matters so
much more to the fans. They seem like, you should
know this, and why wouldn't you do that? And he's
just kind of like, well, you know sometimes and sometime
we move along.

And if you add up to three, think, guys, I
think they've signed. Since it equated to what Michael Pardons
would have got on one deal, well, there was a
there was. It was the handshake deal reportedly that was
in place, but because the agent wasn't involved, Michael Parson said, well,

you know, talk with my agent. But then the deal
that was the handshake deal stayed the same. And I
don't know if you now, now what do you what
do the two of you think of that?

The general way that it's done is the agent speaks
through their athlete to the organization and vice versa. Uh,
the Cowboys don't believe in that you work for us.
We want to talk to you. Well, I want you
to talk to my agent. Do you believe that that's necessary.
That's how it was done this time. When with Dak

Prescott's contract, he still he from the beginning it was
talked to my agent. I think the mistake that was
made here with Michael Parsons, which which led to him
being traded, is that he talked to Jerry directly without
his agent, and then the deal was made there and
that's what Jerry stood by. And when Parsons tried to

go back and like, well, I want you to talk
to my agent. If they tried to get more money
or a different structure, then that's where negotiates.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
And I'm just I'm a former player. I'm on the
player side, but I do understand that if I had
to go own the team and be a businessman a GM,
that these cases come up. Sometimes it's your team, sometimes
it's another team. And I know one of the keys

(08:52):
for me is to look to see if me locking
this guy up for one hundred million dollars, it's what's
going to put us over or I'm just gonna be
paying one hundred million dollars for a guy for the
next four years that he's gonna be the only guy
we have. And that's what ends up with a lot
of people. And I think a lot of teams makes

that mistake. Uh. And that's why I say sometimes it's
easier to show in basketball or in baseball, because you'll
go give what's the kid for the San Diego team
the baseball team to tease, Uh yeah, right, and I
lock you in And now I gotta wait and hope

(09:37):
that everything you. You know you still be the famous star.
I think you're gonna be without a chip.

Speaker 7 (09:45):
That's that's sentimentality. You you you're hoping something works out
and general and see that's the difference. People who are,
in my opinion, captains of business don't take emotions into
the negotiating room or other people find it hard to
separate themselves from that emotion.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
And sometimes teams wait too long to trade that piece
that could have benefited them. They had a piece that
could have got them four other pieces which they needed
more than the one piece. People were here in Atlanta
with Grady Jarrett, oh Man what they got. Well, I'm
not telling you they shouldn't have in a perfect world,

(10:29):
but I can see how they're saying, Man, we have
five places, we need some people, and you're eating up
the ability to hire three of them. Yeah, so we
which way do we want to go? That's math, and
that's just some people find themselves in that predicament. And

it's one of those things. As Michael Parson, you needed
some of those other guys to be playing at a
high level to wear the team like, oh, I'm gonna
keeping this whole defense intact.

Yeah, I need this I need this same squad to
run a bike, so we got to run this bike.

But great weekend of sports. I am tired. I mean
we started with the Cowboys and spitting hey hey, we
went in hey sir, We went to Brazil and got

a two hour rain delay from my high school game.

I didn't get home to like two am. Game was
supposed to start at seven thirty, it didn't kick off
to nine forty.

yesterday we got some exciting games, the revival of Aaron

then maybe you have to put it in your pocket.
But the game last night Bills Ravens could end up

being the best game of the year, of the about
eight ten, twelve weeks. And you see other games. Don't
forget like, oh that was because it happened so early.
And I was about to say, NFL, I hope you
didn't just serve all the best stuff. First, you came

that somewhere in Gregg's woke culture people decided that it's okay.

And I know easily about ten different groups. If I
started plugging in something to represent who they are, would
be protesting. You keep calling this one group Karen's, but

if I turned that name into some Kunta oo Topin
ooh and some Shequito Kizzies and all other names, people
be mad. Somewhere you keep thinking you can label, and

you have decided that if someone of Caucasian female acts
a certain way. I can call them that. But if
the teacher at your school tell you to come get
Tyrone and your son named Jamaal, you swinging on them,

am I line. I'm just just tell me if I'm wrong.
Now you call your wife, Hey, you need to come
down here and get Tyrone day day. And you know
your son named Gregory Junior. I know she didn't. And
then you do it to the office and she said again,

So now you have realized she ain't make no mistake.
Now he's in here acting like day day. So when
this being a day day, and when you look at
the film, the lady could have had compassion for the boy.
The boy did not go get the ball. This incident

happened down the Phillies were playing the Marlins and Miammy.
The ball was hitting to the stands into one area.
The kid's dad came down to the area in which
the ball was going into the lady the ball fell
right in front of her in the bleachers. He came

about ten twelve seats down, the dad the boy. So
when they write these stories, and this is part of
what's going what's wrong for me in our country? We
moved the words around to try to indict somebody. There
is no little boy coming down the aisle to get

the ball from the lady. And then the lady goes
back down and takes the ball from the boy. The
boy's father came down in front of the lady, got
the ball, took it back to his son, and the
lady went down and told the dad, you can't come
do that. So the ball imagined just balls right in

front of you. Cometch, Big Kenny is not even in
your peripheral he's so far down. But he runs down.
Excuse me, excuse me, take the ball, get in front
of me, sir, excuse let me get back hey, excuse me,
excuse me. But they rot the story like the lady
and the boy was jousting for the ball.

That's how he wrote the story. I saw this because
of the day job. I saw this game, saw it
happen in real time.

Oh, biggest Karen in baseball steals ball from Key.

The thing is when it's a foul at this this
is what I understand etiquette to be at a baseball
game when it comes to a foul ball or a
home run ball. If you don't catch it, if you
drop it and someone else in front of you gets the.

Ball, that's it.

And so that's the issue that people had with this
woman is that it was unfair like she tried to
catch the ball. She she didn't catch it. The dad
was standing the row in front of her and picked
and got the ball.

No see, and that's why you didn't add the whole.
But where did the dad come from? He came from.
He came from. He came to the end of the road.
They weren't sitting His family was sitting on the other
end of the row. Correct.

But for even even if someone comes down to that
in the road and gets the ball that that no
one has, there's no like right to the ball. If
you catch it, you catch it. If you drop it
and someone else gets it, then you're out of that ball.
And and now, so the issue that the woman has
that like she's but she was complaining that that should

But you're skipping to the out of the parts that
I'm not talking about. I'm talking about how the media
described the store. I have not seen where it was,
where it was or had some interaction woman with the boy.

The boy and and this is this is the thing
that I'm maybe confused on. Maybe I'm not up on
baseball etiquette, but uh, in all instances that I've been
aware of, if a home run ball is hit, the
person who has the right to the ball is the

one who either catches it. And then if there's a scramble,
it's usually for people within arm's length. You're in front
of me, you're behind me, or on the sides, and
we're all up. Like in the hell Mary grabbed for
the ball. If it goes to the ground, then we
can scrum for the ball at our feet. The video

I just watched this lady and I'm sure she probably
has never played Major League baseball, tried to catch the ball.
It hit the back of a seat and was kind
of I guess ricocheted, and this dude came running in
from what was nowhere near arms length, grabbed the ball
and walked it back to his son. Now she could

have had a chance to reach over and grab the ball.
All she had to do was step over one chair.
But and I'm not saying there's anybody who has a
right to the ball, but when it comes to etiquette,
when it comes to space and the tickets that we have.

Bought and all of that. You were nowhere near here.

And maybe it's just winners winners and you know, losers, weepers,
finders keepers kind of yeah, kind of thing.

I don't know.

That that that's my That's how I see it as
far as with this, because if the game was sold
out or someone was in that area, someone else is
in that area, and that dad couldn't come down to
the end of the road, then that dad doesn't.

Get that ball. But it's whoever gets the ball?

Well, well, and see there's there's no like and now
see so rule about it.

And based if that lady had the ball, had went
towards that dad and boy, and that lady had came
out of her step, went down twenty seats and got
the tuck the ball, who is he then? How would
he's going to address it? I don't know if he
would have done the same thing. But she got the ball,

then that's her ball. And how do we handle this?
And I've seen this.

Somebody catches a home run ball or kid grabs the
ball and someone just reaches over and grabs the ball
out of their hand and then they claim, well, I
got the ball. You might have caught it, but you
couldn't hold on to it, and then people go and
they get upset. No, that should have been their ball.
But if it's just finders keepers, then it's also survival

came over and stole the hat from the kid. So
that may be where some other etiquette may come in

by taking the ball from a kid.

Well, why I paid the same amount of ticket. You're
in your in your analysis that then we at war? Now?
Is that not what he explained it? And that's all
I'm asking.

That whatever's going on, I may say, I'm saying it
may look bad if it was.

Caught the ball and then she came down and like, no,
that should be mine, then you know she may she

give her the ball. But whoever gets the ball, it's
their ball, Okay, not how I would view it.

I guess that's why the NFL charges you for throwing
the ball, because these kind of incidents can turn into fights.
And I don't like how the media tried to write
the story up, calling this lady a Karen, or that
they tried to make it seem like she took the
ball directly from that boy. She addressed the parent who
came down there and got the boy. That's etiquette. You

don't talk to my kid, you talk to me. Yeah.
And the dad, she didn't take it out the boy's glove.
The dad took the ball because he knew he was wrong,
out the boy's glove and gave it to the lady.
That doesn't make anything. Was he wrong. I'm quite sure
if he felt he was right, he wouldn't have gave
it a ball. She's explaining, you came to my area

We are running through the weekend of uh sports guys,
any game from high school or college you want to
bring up, we can also hit on those as well.
On the college scene. This weekend it was kind of

like soft at Saturday, where you had a lot of
teams playing teams they paid to come play them. That's
typically when you look. The SEC went on record before
the season to make sure that everybody knew they're doing

(43:19):
nine conference games, so it used to be eight. They're
doing nine out of twelve. That gives you three weeks.
Typically one of those three is homecoming where you get
to invite someone, and one is typically so that you
can keep up whatever rivalry right that you have. So

(43:40):
however the schedule, Yeah, if you got some certain rivalry
you want to keep, you can keep that week and
that other game typically is what we saw this weekend.
For a lot of teams, even if they played a
tough opponent the first week was in that first two games,
they pay somebody to come play them. So that's all

(44:01):
On the Saturday, I think the upset University of South
Florida beat Florida, right, I do know that, And it
was one other upset that I'm trying to think of
unranked Peter. But other than that kind of slow a
big Kenny.

Speaker 7 (44:16):
You went out to see Southern miss play Jacksons State,
and this is you mentioned rivalry, You mentioned paid games,
things like that. A lot of those games used to
have some sort of chip on my shoulder aspect to it. Yeah,
you're paying me, but we're gonna come down and show
you that we could compete. And what I saw this
weekend with Southern miss versus Jackson State in Hattiesburg seemed

like we just wanted feel good football. Nobody was grounding
and pounding. The band performed together two powerhouse programs, one
unified sound, and I was like, what when did when
did we we aren't doing that?

When do we start having a joint And from the
home side they spelled out US in both bands and
from the visitor side you could see JSU and I
also saw the effects of what seemed to be the
transfer portal. It's a SWACK versus SBC school.

Speaker 7 (45:19):
Uh, there's supposed to be a difference, but they about
the same size, same speed, but the same. But there's
a guy that goes to jack and State though probably
jumping to portal and be at USM in two weeks,
and the guy from USM will be at Mississippi State somewhere.

Yeah, who won the game? Southern did so.

Speaker 7 (45:39):
And they started pulling away at the end of the
game when where it should have been. Usually it's one
of those beat you so bad, make you kind of
wonder if you want the money next time things.

But you know now, it wasn't like that at all.
I wonder in those because I was in the band
in high school and there I do know that when
I've seen that, and I love going to bland contest,
I was wondering maybe the joint well, I don't know
what it could have been. It could have been to
show some kind of unity, right. It could have also

been that maybe one of them that routine is long,
so it wouldn't leave time for the other band. It's
a way to get both bands on the field in
that twenty minutes. Well, you know some of those top
notch bands, yeah, take a long time.

This is the thing sports Jack I projected onto it
that the band's presentation is so culturally different. The sonic
Boom of the South is R and B pop music,
very fast paced. The Pride of Southern miss is very

Sports football kind of band.

And they got together and did a Cupid's uh flex
shuffle is what they played. So it's something that you
would hear at a tailgate and everybody can gather around
and it seemed to me like they were making concerted
effort to present that we are one image. There is

no us in them. We just all having fun in
the spirit of football and fellowship there.

Speaker 4 (47:27):
So none of you are up there yelling get those
Karens off the field. Ah, did I hear Karen?

Because there they wouldn't have known who to grab at.
Southern Miss. You get that, Karen, and all of the

and M. And I don't even know where that is

play in Kansas. No, Kansas City, Missouri. I don't know

So well, this weekend, as I said, I had a
rain delay up in Uh. It was Cartersville versus Calhoun.
For you that do keep up with college football, Cartersville
has a receiver, Brady mccazy. He's going to Georgia. Real

deal again from Cartersville. That's the real that's unheard of.
Like wow, I never really seen anybody from Cartersville come
out except for like nine of the last guys came
out of Cartersville. Cartersville running Brown, Trevor Lawn so those guys.

But they have a receiver up there. He's when you
see him at Guga next year the year after. I remember,
I said he was fast, big, aggressive. He looked like
a boy playing a men playing boy sports. You mentioned
the rain delay, and you may have clarified it for
me before, but what is the rule with rain? How

long do we have to wait each time that lightning
is spotted within a eight I think it's eight miles,
no more than ten. I want to say it's eight
miles of the stadium. Then the clock stops and goes
back and it's like thirty minutes. So the game was

supposed to kick off at seven thirty, and we kicked
all close to about mind forty two because said lightnings right.
So each time they're spotted and I made the joke.
I made the joke when I played until the lightning
hit somebody. They never Yeah, we never had Okay, time out,
