Are men justified in leaving society, abandoning things like marriage and relationships, and going their own way?
In this episode, we uncover the truth behind the MGTOW movement. Learn about the allure and the lies surrounding Men Going Their Own Way.

Join us, your hosts, Tim Bisagno and Stewart White, in this episode of the Stand Up Dude Podcast, as we delve into the "Men Going Their Own Way" (MGTOW) movement. We'll explore its origins, beliefs, and the societal issues it aims to address, such as divorce court biases and the stigma surrounding men's mental health. While we recognize these concerns, we also critique MGTOW for its flawed solutions and negative views on women. We advocate for a biblical perspective on masculinity, highlighting the importance of vulnerability, accountability, and the inherent dignity of all individuals. We encourage you to embrace a Christ-centered approach to true masculinity.

If I get real vulnerable, are they going to disappear? Are they going to judge me? Are they going to go away?

(00:06):
Hello, welcome to another episode of the Stand Up Dude podcast. I'm joined by our host Tim Bisagno. Yes, hi Stuart
Thank you. I am Stewart White and we are really glad that you guys are here with us today
We want to jump right into this episode because I feel like it sounds good

(00:28):
It's intense. It's a great topic. Yeah, but I don't want to waste a second. You know, I'm excited about it
So today we are going to be talking about something that you've probably heard of at least in some form or another
It is a movement that has been around for about 20 years now stand up dude. No, but it's gonna be stand up
We're gonna replace this movement and the stand up dude movement is gonna be the one we are gonna take over the replacement

(00:54):
For for MGTOW if you have ever heard of this it sounds like a big toe. It kind of rhymes with big toe
But it's not it's not a big toe. It's actually far more
Shall we say
Subversive shall we say yeah, yeah, so MGTOW stands for Men Going Their Own Way

(01:15):
And it is a movement it started in as best we can tell the early
2000 2001 which I can't even believe that that is
25 almost years ago at this point
Where is the time? Lee? Yeah, it is nuts, but
MGTOW stands for Men Going Their Own Way and
Here's what you need to know the basics of it tell me

(01:38):
it's about
Men who have decided to disengage from society from relationships and from women and just as it says go their own way
and there are a lot of
Voices in the world right now that are speaking to this issue and I don't know that they're doing the best job of it because

(02:00):
This is one of those ones where we were talking about this before this episode
We know Satan he doesn't have to tell you an outright lie
Yeah, he actually the closer he can get that bad boy to the truth just yeah
Oh man, he's gonna be so much more effective. Yeah, yeah if you can take a
Brownie and you can put just a drop of poison it only needs to be enough to make them sick or die

(02:24):
Yeah, and that's what the enemy does what Satan does and I feel that this MIG toe movement while having some valid concerns
It's answers are not answers. They are not rooted in actual
Good things good truth and so we're gonna dive into that a little bit today
So this episode is called MGTOW the Allure and the Lie. Okay

(02:48):
Yeah, so we're gonna give you a perspective on this from a Christian perspective of true masculinity versus this false
masculinity that is MGTOW
Are you ready for this? Yeah, I actually I am let's hear it. I'm pretty ready for it
So I want to kind of give you an origin
Okay real quick here of it and landscape I touched on it briefly early

(03:09):
2000s kind of came about there were some early manifestos of
Such as one called no ma'am which came out in 2001 which encouraged self-reliance and
Traditional masculinity so those things called no what no ma'am no ma'am. Yeah, no ma'am
So it sounds like it's being polite, but it's really kind of this like get rid of women kind of a thing

(03:32):
Yeah, then in 2014
Right wing conservative commentator Milo Yeanopolis. What you call me? Yeah, I know that's a mouthful right?
You do and you'll clean it up. It is yeah he brought it kind of back to the forefront of the attention of people he was writing for bright
Bart and he described it as a rejection of relationships

(03:55):
Due to the feminist influence which a lot of these things it's like okay
I can I can kind of understand that you know I can see where that goes since then
MGTOW has grown huge because of the internet because of sites like Reddit and YouTube and
Certain personalities that have been attracting people to this movement also society as a whole in large part has been

(04:19):
Disenfranchising men which we've talked about on the show. Yeah, I think quite a bit now you're talking about no ma'am right now
You talking about MGTOW no ma'am all of these kind of tied together to the same
Same coin. Yeah, okay, but the core beliefs. Let's cover this real quick
So MGTOW the first thing it asserts that society has come has become corrupted by feminism

(04:43):
It's making relationships risky for men because of that
So that's the first thing society's been corrupted by feminism thus making relationships risky for men
That's a head scratcher, but okay, okay? Okay?
Number two, it promotes male independence financial freedom and
Disengagement from traditional commitments like marriage and family. Okay. Yeah, okay, I can see all this though and

(05:08):
Three for many it offers a sense of control and validation of their frustrations a lot of men are
Like a diversion so they don't have to look at the real thing that is a great question giving them an offer to look at this instead of that
I think it is a little bit of that. I think what it is is I think in every single human being there is a sense of something's not right

(05:31):
I'm frustrated. I'm mad and what do we do? We tend to kick the dog figuratively speaking
We we take it out on something and often the things that are kind of
Bumping us making us frustrated in life will blame those things for what's really going on internally in us, you know
I told my kids this analogy a bunch of times, but

(05:52):
If you get bumped and you have a cup of water and you spill it and it was water
But then when it spills out pops sewage and you go look what you made me do you made my cup of water turn into sewage?
No, no that was either water it was sewage. It wasn't one or the other we tend to blame people for that because kids
You know we do that too as adults. Yeah, but it's like what was in your cup? It's symbolic of what was in your heart?

(06:17):
Yeah, so a lot of people are going
I'm mad. I'm frustrated. They don't look inward and go what's actually going on in my heart?
They go it's probably your fault and they point to somebody, you know in this case it in large part its society and its women
So there are four levels of engagement with this mig toe movement

(06:37):
One it doesn't make any sense actually there the two of them are pills and the other two not pills. Okay
So I will obviously this was made by men because we didn't think it through very
But I'm gonna say both of these pills are poison pills. Okay first two
Is this like the matrix? It is kind of really you know ever since matrix everybody has used the term red pill because if you pick the red pill

(07:03):
You know you wake up and you see reality. Yeah, you see the other side. So it's about kind of
Waking up and yeah on awareness of the truth
But in this case they say the first one is this red pill of awareness
You're aware you're recognizing that in society there are biases against men
But you would still consider being in relationships like men. So you're aware. Yeah, yeah, I know

(07:26):
Society kind of it's rigged against men. That's what they would say
But that's not gonna stop me from getting married from having a girlfriend or having a relationship with a girl
So that's the first one the next one is the purple pill and you're gonna see the stair step effect here
Avoiding marriage and cohabitation while pursuing casual relationships translation hook up. Yeah

(07:50):
It's basically using women
Justifying it and saying I'm gonna use them because they're using me. I'll just
So you deserve what I'm gonna do to you. I'm gonna use you like a rag
Not not cool
Third one this is where the pills stop and the next one is kind of weird but other metaphor monk mode

(08:12):
Okay, monk mode is rejecting all romantic or
Sexual relationships in minimizing interactions with women which is kind of strange
You know like if you're not doing it for like a religious reason or something, but you're just a guy's like there's a girl
Okay, I'm just gonna avoid all these women. Okay. What goes after monk. I want to hear more about I know
Well, this is weird. I just wanted to like what's worse than month? They call it going ghost

(08:38):
Okay, good enough
Go now. Okay, let's go back to mock. I got to go and go. Okay. I just want to go what in the world gets worse than monk mode
Yeah, so basically monk mode is just living like what we would esteem a monk to be which is kind of isolated and
Overall you may have to interact with women sometimes, but you go to great efforts to avoid them. Okay in general

(09:01):
So ghost mode though going ghost okay with drawing from since society entirely
And striving for complete self-sufficiency
There's some words in there that sound like well, what's wrong with self-sufficiency? We're Americans, you know
We're self-sufficient work. I leave now. We're America. Yeah, right?
And this is where I say the
Hidden poison is in the the enemies lies small. We need one percent in there good truth and some little nasty stuff mixed in this

(09:31):
I think there's more than one percent lies. Yes, how much are you able to tolerate kind of hmm? So
Micto it raises some concerns some valid concerns about societal issues, but
We're gonna explore a little further in reveal where it actually falls short. Okay, okay?
So the next one here is I want to acknowledge what those issues are a little pro and cons

(09:56):
Yeah, so some of the valid concerns. Okay. This is some of the things they raise and you'll find it in these chat groups and these
YouTube videos and other things
challenges in divorce court and custodial battles for children and
There is a reality - yeah, that's a decent. Yeah, mama mama wins. Yeah, men often do not get custody of their children. Yeah, I've heard of cases where

(10:20):
The husband is a good guy works a job. He's not abusive and the wife is you know a drug addict
Okay, but they will give the kids to the mom. Yeah before they give them to the dad and so that's kind of an example
Where yeah, you kind of see this does seem to set up the idea that it's a little bit rigged against them. Okay
Next one would be workplace discrimination against men in certain fields and so you'd be like wait what?

(10:47):
Where I thought you know society has said feminism
Yeah, they're always discriminated against just the opposite which typically would hear but what you would see
There are actually videos that you can watch online about this where it's like
Rough neck men who are doing like the the oil rig stuff and it's like you don't see it. There are no women
It's like 99% men in this field very dangerous very deadly the

(11:12):
Large amount of first responder jobs are men
When you look at war they go to war typically it's men who are going and dying so
Those are sort of the biases. They're saying are slanted
Against men they get the worst jobs they get the harder jobs and then

(11:33):
The other one is the stigma around men's mental health and there's kind of two sides to that actually it's it's that men
Just need to shut up and take it because you're a man
But also then we if you do have problems don't talk about it because you're a man, you know, so yeah, we do that a lot right? Oh, yeah, yeah
I mean I know both of us have had things where we've had counseling and different things and

(11:57):
Coaching and you would say I'm sure
With your coaching things you've you've gone through yeah, if you are not able to be a real person who shows up and is vulnerable
You're not gonna get much out of it right? Yeah, yeah, and the vulnerability is your gift in your vulnerability
You'll discover your strength and until you go there it's it's more of a

(12:20):
The strength is a little bit more of facade or some yeah some concoction that you drew up
Yeah, where you're your real gift and there will come out through vulnerability and man
That's hard that that's a real man that that enables to be vulnerable
And that's good to surround yourself with other men in that situation. Yeah totally most women don't really see

(12:41):
vulnerability as sexy per se if you want to just kind of speak of it like that, but they're the vulnerability of
Of showing their heart
Yeah, to their wife now that's a different story. That's beautiful
But yeah, that's why it's good to have a safe place for
Around other men and it's a testing ground is what it ends up being. Yeah, it's a beautiful testing ground

(13:07):
When you have accountability to where you can test it how vulnerable can I get if I get real vulnerable
Is are they going to disappear? Are they going to judge me? Are they going to go away?
Mm-hmm
Are they going to try to change me?
The answer is no. Yeah, none of that. Yeah. Oh
Okay, now look see what happens you you get this new like okay, so there becomes a strength that comes from your

(13:32):
Vulnerability totally well even to the mental health being vulnerable about that the other side of that coin is the
overwhelming majority of
mental health issues are with men and
Solidality men attempting to take their own lives is overwhelmingly like higher than women

(13:54):
So they're saying this is proof is what they're they're arguing that it is slanted against men and on the surface like those are valid concerns
But they're they're not giving the full picture. They're not giving you the full truth about it
Some other aspects here too would be the full truth
Well as much truth as we can grab from that just on this

(14:17):
level of conversation that we're having about it is that men the reason why all of these
suicide and and and these
Heart attacks and all these things
would come from
Men not being able to have a place where they feel that they can show vulnerability
Yeah, that they can speak and and share their their self because a man has to be tough and that has to be strong

(14:43):
It's always man up your your being man
Don't cry those kinds of things and it's it's seen as a source of weakness rather than strength
So of course, you know if you're packing all that emotional way and you're not dealing with it
Yeah, what do you think mental health is gonna suffer?
You know because it's really when people are talking mental health
I would say a majority of the time what they're really talking about is spiritual health like your heart

(15:08):
You know we talk about that a lot living from your heart if your heart is not free to be
whole to be
Express in a healthy manner. Okay. It's going to feel like there's something dead inside
Just like if I sat around if I sat in a chair all day
It's an undeveloped it must have yeah those muscles atrophy
Yeah, and then I get I try to get up and and move and I can't move there's I got to tell you this this funny meme

(15:34):
I found on Instagram, but it's this it it looks all like emotional and it's this wife and she's helping her husband up and the caption is
Me helping my husband learn how to walk again, and you're like oh, that's so sweet
And then it says after he spent four hours watching videos on the toilet
It's like I think of it every time I'm like so funny. Wow, but that's true though

(15:56):
You're you're letting something go to waste and you're not exercising appropriately
Yeah, the exercising is that funny that space where you can
Be vulnerable and make mistakes and test yeah absolutely
So it reflects that muscle and that's that's a good it's a good really good thing. Yeah
Well, so some other positive things that it gets sort of right

(16:18):
MIGTO that is
emphasis on self-improvement and financial independence. Hey, yeah, it's good. I should grow as a man
I should I should be financially secure. They really emphasize the financial independence of
You know from a even owing a woman anything even owing a family anything that can kind of that's where it gets a little

(16:38):
Off into the weeds and then encouragement of thinking
critically about societal norms. Okay, like critical thinking it's good to encourage people to not just take things at face value
But actually analyze them that yeah, it's not bad. Okay
But some biblical insights I want to provide here. Proverbs 20 verse 3 says

(17:00):
Honor belongs to the person who ends a dispute, but any fool can get himself into a quarrel
So kind of relating in their desire for self-preservation
Which is what a big part of MIGTO is?
independent self-preservation
But the biblical call for wisdom while addressing the misapplication or avoidance of these things that were

(17:24):
It's kind of steering people in the wrong direction. I think sounds like these guys have pointed just some really great stuff
But it's more of a complaint instead of coming with a solution. Yeah
And like the scripture just referred to there is beautiful is
More solution based. Oh, yeah, I mean these guys have opened their eyes and seen some stuff and they've gathered it in a in a space and made a thing out of it

(17:50):
but
the solutions that are being offered as we're finding are not the solutions at all. Yeah
Well, so while it does identify some legit issues
It ultimately it falls short and it's a flawed solution in what it offers. So
I want to examine where it falls short of God's design for masculinity

(18:15):
Which is something we are all about and and I want to say this too
The reason we're talking about this today is because we as a channel four men could easily get
Lumped into this batch here, right? They could say oh these are more of those MIGTO guys
We did get lumped in when we first started. Yeah, yeah people thought that and we want to come out and say no that is not us

(18:37):
This that is not what we are about
We are actually about coming under the
umbrella of God and in doing what it is that he has outlined for us. Yeah, the authority. Yes
We have a boss. Yeah, so I tell people this if you try to solve a problem
But before you ever sit down to solve that problem you eliminate something so let's say for simplicity sake

(19:01):
You I say Tim I want you to solve two plus two
Okay, what is that equation? But I go hold on the number four is not a number anymore. You can't use four no matter
How hard you try to solve that problem?
You're only going to get maybe close and if you could be like hey five
Hey five is pretty close to four right? Yeah, three is pretty close

(19:23):
But it isn't the answer right right and I think that's what happens in these things is
They have eliminated. Oh
The answer. Oh godly. They've ruled that's beautiful. Oh God entirely. Yeah
And so then they go okay now. Let's find a solution apart from him. You had to get a limit
You had to eliminate the real answer for that's that's nasty. Yeah, I mean that's wow that's a humanism

(19:46):
For sure as a whole that's and I feel like that's what I know our heart is with stand-up dude is we want to go
Hey, would you reconsider?
This is an answer that God is part of this equation and all of a sudden the pieces start to click and people go oh
Oh, you mean the one who made everything

(20:08):
Designed it for a particular purpose and a reason a man exists for more than just his own pleasure
He exists for more than nothing at all in fact like meaninglessness
That there is something behind it. So that's a big part of it and I you know, I'm going off script here a little bit
But I want to to just point that out like we are not part of that movement
We are part of what we want to say is biblical Christianity and biblical masculinity

(20:33):
And we want to emphasize that so
Okay, so
Getting into the differences where it falls short. I'm going to try and move through this pretty quick here, but
It has misogynistic views misogyny, you know, meaning like men are better than women or women are less than men
So migto often portrays women negatively and

(20:55):
It does so by denying or thus really denying their inherent dignity
So we see in Genesis chapter 1 verse 27
We see it says so God created man in his own image
He created him in the image of God. Okay, so far so good right God created man created him in his image. That's pretty cool
Yeah, that is a big ramifications if that's true and then it goes he created them male and female. Oh

(21:22):
Wait a minute
So not just man's created in the image of God woman is so if we reduce women below
Us as men
We are reducing an image bearer of God. Oh interesting. I've never heard that and this is where migto they go and portray all women as
Terrible they can't help themselves. They're all just terrible. So let's get out of society. Let's leave them behind

(21:45):
Wow, and that's not what that's that's as Christian men. We're like that's not what we want. No
No
So that's one of the things
And then a rejection of relationships. You can kind of see how this sort of logically makes sense in their mind
So migto often discourages marriage and companionship
although

(22:06):
Many levels of it as we talked about the the pills and all that lonely and selfish. Yeah, it it'll either reject those but use women or just reject them outright and
Both are wrong, you know both are not it's again
It's going back to your viewing women is less than God has made them to be
But in Genesis 2 18 it says then the Lord God said it is not good for a man to be alone

(22:31):
I will make a helper corresponding to him and we just went through this church actually, but that word helper it isn't like
You know your waiter or your servant that comes along it's somebody that is filling in that area and helping you in something that you are not
Gifted in like we need this where we're two pieces of a puzzle and you want to bring those two together and it's going to create this beautiful

(22:57):
Image this tapestry of sorts, but if we go no, I don't need that. I don't I'm not made for that
That's where it gets a little bit shaky, right? Like I'm not saying that there aren't people that God and it hasn't put them in a season of
Singleness or a lifetime of singleness right and that they're somehow inadequate or less than because they don't have a relationship

(23:18):
That's not who I'm talking about really. I'm talking about the people who are like I choose to be single because I hate women. Yeah, that's
Not difficult. I wonder where the guys that that's
MIGTO
Yeah, uh, and going their own way and going their own way even
Where do they think the future is going? What I mean just logically this logically

(23:45):
I met a nice lady she's going to be a guest on our podcast. She wrote a book called the future is male and female
And if we separated ourselves and went
complete monk or uh or the other one ghost ghost. Yeah, there is
I mean come on logically speaking these solutions that are offered I can see why they

(24:10):
Thank God people are trying these guys in some sense are trying to come up with solutions without God
So my heart goes out to to that in a and a heartful way that
They missed the unfortunate mark there, but my heart goes towards them and like look you try
You guys are trying to figure something out here potentially, but wow running some of these solutions even just two minutes down the road

(24:37):
If to their ultimate conclusion is there's there's no
There's there's the end of human race. Yeah, which is yeah upcy well and I feel the reason I felt so inclined to speak to this
Both because we don't want to get lumped in with that and yeah early on you said you know we have
But there are so many voices much bigger much broader reach than we have currently

(24:58):
Uh, Andrew Tate different different speakers different people and they're on the left and the right
They have what would seem to be a bigger platform, but we are not that big
But we can be just as big of a voice yeah, and we're gonna have to speak even louder I think to
Kind of wake people up and go okay. Don't go that direction that road leads to death that road leads to destruction

(25:21):
I'm concerned about that like I've seen younger men just start doing this and it leads to being checked out
It leads to being disengaged it leads to
Ultimately some of the mental health stuff we were even talking about like if God designed you to work this way
And you are designed for relationship and community and um not just with like women, but society as a whole

(25:43):
You know they emphasize checking out from society
You're gonna be even worse off. You're gonna you're gonna feel like something's missing and you're probably gonna get more angry
Yeah, so another thing here it
Has extreme individualism like we we talk about in America again rugged individualism
rugged individualism like we i'm a self-made man

(26:06):
I can go out there and get her done, you know, and I don't need anyone
I don't think that's the right attitude either like from a Christian man from a Christlike perspective
Yes, there is a personal responsibility, but it's like personal responsibility
On steroids. It's yeah, it's too far. Yeah, uh, and so

(26:27):
We don't want to promote a self-centered lifestyle over community and connection. Yeah, I think that's the big part
We miss is if you just go I'm an individual like extreme individualism. It's just self-centeredness ultimately
Philippians two three through four says this
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit
But in humility consider others is more important than yourselves

(26:52):
Everyone should look not to his own interests, but rather to the interests of others
It's difficult to do that. Yeah, that command there in scripture if you're living
opposite that direction your heart is not toward others your heart is only about you
It leads to a society that's gonna collapse in on itself
Okay, so bitterness and lack of forgiveness is the next thing. Oh, we see this. I bet there's a dose of that there man

(27:17):
It encourages resentment instead of reconciliation
Because they're like well, I'm just gonna go over here. I'll take my ball and go home
You know and that's the attitude really it's a grown-up version of this childlike attitude
so
We know that's not good
just
From a parent if I see my kid doing that. I'm like that's not gonna take them anywhere and that's not gonna do them any good

(27:41):
They're being so resentful of this person and it's it leads to bitterness
I heard someone put it this way once bitterness is like drinking poison and hoping it makes the other person sick
It's no good same thing as unforgiveness. Yeah, unforgiveness. You got this
There's hot yeah ball of lead in your hand and and you're hoping that it's burning

(28:05):
Yeah, person that's you're not forgiving. Yeah, it's like look at the damage I'm doing to you. It's like it's hurting only you buddy
Okay, so Ephesians 4
31 through 32 says this is a big one. I know
Let all bitterness anger and wrath shouting and slander be removed from you along with all malice
And be kind and compassionate to one another forgiving one another just as God also forgave you in Christ

(28:32):
Notice it brings it all back around to Christ
If we as Christian men yeah are claiming the name of Jesus. We're claiming the forgiveness of Jesus
It's like that parable Jesus tells where he's like there were two servants and one was forgiven this massive debt
He went to the the his master and said I can't pay that back and he forgave him

(28:54):
And then he went and he chokes out his fellow servant for 20 bucks and he's like the master wax mind is like you wicked serve
I identify and I was in that story man. I way more than I want way way more than I want to I don't even like to
Think too long about how I do that because it just feels so terrible, but

(29:14):
That's a that's a good we've been really is giving to all of us so much. Yeah, yeah, we
Leave that house and we go
And we go two doors down and choke the guy for for you know not
Fill in the car back up with with gas when he said he would when he borrowed the car
I mean, I'm just making that up, but it's just like that kind of a thing like man

(29:36):
Did you just got forgiven? Yeah, you know four gold bars two doors down and now you're you're gonna go and put a choke hold on the guy
Yeah, you barred your car. Yeah, well, so then if mig toe isn't the answer we want to see what does true masculinity actually look like
So we're gonna explore that in this next little section here. I like okay

(29:58):
This is the gospel alternative. This is why we back to the equation two plus two is four
Jesus is the answer here and we don't want to eliminate him from the the solutions if if we do I think we're gonna end up with
Solutions like mig toe
First of all our identity is in Christ

(30:18):
That is one of the most critical things we need to know if we are in Christ
It says in 1st Corinthians 16 13 through 14 be alert
Stand firm in the faith. Oh baby be courageous be strong do everything in love. It says be
men, right? This is this is one of our key verses here and
then

(30:40):
Respect for women. This is the stuff that we need to realize that
True biblical masculinity. Mm-hmm. It's first rooted in Christ has respect for women
Husbands love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. That's Ephesians 5 25 back to Christ again
He's like why why do we do it? Because Christ did it and we're to imitate him, right? Yeah, like that's so powerful

(31:05):
Very
Community and accountability is the other thing
Because we are Christians we're called into community and we're called
Into accountability in that community
So it says in Hebrews 10 24 through 25. That's a lot of verses a lot of verses. I like I like the Bible
Yeah, I really like them. I will put hey, these are some good answers show notes guys. Yeah, we're gonna include all this

(31:28):
These are rock star of
Versus yeah, it says and let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works
Not neglecting together together as some are in the habit of doing but encouraging each other and all the more as you see the day approaching
We're not to be isolating ourselves as some day approaching

(31:49):
But because we know hey, Jesus is coming back. We believe that and
You're to be in community. Don't isolate yourselves being community be in accountability and
That leads also to serving others
This is where mig toe is I'll just serve myself, you know, I'll just again take my ball and go home
Yeah, that isn't what we're looking for we want to serve others

(32:11):
It says in Mark 10 45 for ever even the son of man did not come to be served but to serve
And to give his life as a ransom for many
Jesus says later, you know the servant is not greater than the master and he's like if I've washed your feet if I've given you the example of serving you
You better serve, you know, that's pretty powerful stuff very

(32:31):
Ultimately here true fulfillment is in Christ and this is one of the last points here
It says in John 10 10 a thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy
I have come that they may have life and have it in abundance
True life is in Christ
Not in some mig toe movement
Not in something some group of guys on the internet dreamed up and said, ah, yeah, that sounds good

(32:54):
Yeah, you know a big echo chamber of ideas that they're like yeah
Yeah, I hate women too. Yeah me too. Let's make a movement. Let's isolate ourselves
That is not the solution
And I mentioned andrutee earlier. I don't know if you're familiar with andrutee. Yeah, it's a little bit he is
He is a snake and I have watched young men get pulled in by him because he is very slick

(33:17):
He's smart. He is intelligent. He can speak
competently to a lot of things
I've seen him in debates and he handles himself well
But his view of women his view of what is and isn't right for a man to do is not in alignment with the word of God
And he will talk about using women he he got rich because of

(33:38):
Basically making pornography, you know, and and then he says he's a Christian and then he leaves Christianity and becomes Muslim
Because he said it wasn't hardcore enough
Christianity the men were too soft
So I'm going to become a Muslim and it's like wait a minute, buddy
Yeah, you I don't even understand where you're coming from but he is the example that so many are following and we're here to say we want you to follow Christ

(34:02):
So some practical steps. Okay
Seek God
Through Bible study and prayer
So important like so very God reveals himself to you through his word. He has revealed himself in his word
It's like trying to play basketball, you know without past trouble and shoot. Yeah, you know, you get those foundations down and then the

(34:28):
The nuances can can come of of you know podcasts and and and and you know
Retreats and all those beautiful things but but to skip the the time and prayer and the time and the word
And the time of being around
Other Christ followers it's not possible to do without those yes, triple and shoot. Yes

(34:54):
Well in addition to that you kind of hinted to it there
Building genuine friendships with other men
Godly men of character like we need to be seeking that out as men
Don't just be like hey, you know the saying you are the summation of the five people you spend the most time with
That's true and I don't just want to be like so I want someone exactly at the same stage of life as me

(35:18):
I want to be meeting with the guys who I'm like, hey, you know, you're 10 years older
You're 20 years older and further along in your maturity and your walk and everything and as you're choosing these men
men
in a a they used to
Call it when you were looking for a sponsor
You would look for for somebody that had something that you wanted

(35:41):
So find a man that has something that you want not his car or his wife because there's warnings on both of those guys
but
He's got high character
He handles difficult situations really well. He's he's possibly wealthy, but yet he's super humble
The way that his kids

(36:01):
Look at him and in a way that he looks at his kids and how they're at rest and at peace when they're around him
what just those kind of things are
are the find find men that have things that you want like that and and ask to spend time with them
Ask me around them if they're in a man's group join that group and you'll find others. Yeah

(36:22):
in addition to those things
pursuing growth
Biblical with biblical values really like biblical growth
Don't just jump into anything make sure what you are
pursuing your growth in is adhering to the truth. Yeah, that's so critical for men
I can't tell you how many times and this is no knock on sports. I like sports

(36:43):
I could talk to a man who's been in church his whole life
He couldn't tell me one Bible verse
But he could tell me every single person who's won every single super bowl for the last 40 years
And who their quarterback was and who like what the stats were for that quarterback and it's like it's not that you don't
Know it's that you don't love it. You know, you love something else and it's like go ahead. Love those things sure

(37:07):
But love the truth just as much more so in fact let it permeate everything about you
It's like it's like tea, you know, the longer you steep it the more flavor like it gets richer
And that the the more you are full are steeped in the truth the more you're steeped in the word of God the more you're steeped in all of those things

(37:27):
You're going you're going to have greater flavor and so here's here's the last two things in this
engage in mentorship. Don't check out yourself
You know earlier it was
Finding mentorship, but having
Other people that you are mentoring taking responsibility for that and going hey, I'm five years ahead of this guy

(37:47):
And he doesn't really know this or that or whatever or I'm 20 years ahead of this guy
Imagine if you follow the mig toe model
You're checked out. I'm disengaged from society now. Maybe it's implying that you're still talking to other men
But you're probably talking to other men about disengaging from society too. Yeah, probably so and
We serve a creator who entered into oh love creation. He didn't run the other way. That's a good one

(38:13):
Oh man. He came in. He is our model of masculinity
You know a lot of people we've talked about this before the think of Jesus is like a sky fairy dress wearing long hair blonde hair
Blue-eyed guy couldn't be further from the truth
It it takes a real man to
Carry across it takes a real man to take responsibility for something that wasn't his fault. Oh

(38:34):
Yeah, that's hard
It takes a real man to bear the burdens and like Jesus says
No greater love has anyone than he who would lay down his life for his friends and Jesus bear bore that exact example
So I want to talk about that real quick because I feel like something that we often aim to do

(38:55):
And don't always get to an every episode, but it is our heart. Yes, sir is give people a chance to respond. Yes, please
So I'm gonna I'm gonna just give a message right now of the gospel to of it
Thank you those listening those watching
So first of all you can receive this very thing as I said the god of the universe entered into humanity

(39:19):
He entered in and took his
life and put it in our place
He gave us his
very existence and
Took your sin so in Romans 323
The fact of the matter is it says all have sinned and they fallen short of the glory of god
That means every one of us there's not one not you not me not anyone watching listening

(39:43):
That is not affected and broken by sin in some way and so sin it separates us from God and from each other
Just like mehto it separates. Yeah. This is this is a good way you can measure it go
Does it sound more like sin or does it sound more like Jesus does it enter into our
Our struggles does it press in in spite of our

(40:05):
Rebellion because it says while we were yet sinners Christ died for us not while we were his friends even we were his enemies
That's pretty impressive wow and before we even
Wanted him to right right? Yeah, so it pursued us. It says this too
The wages of sin is death the best you can get by being separated is death

(40:27):
More separation, but it says this there's hope it doesn't in there the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord
We can't fix this ourselves, but
He can no amount of our effort is going to be able to do anything to change it no amount of good works
no amount of independence

(40:47):
Can bridge the gap between us and holy God right? Yeah, it's just the opposite
The only solution is Jesus so
It says this in Romans 5 8, but God proves his own love for us
I alluded to this earlier and that while we were still sinners Christ died for us
It got in his love and mercy that he would do that for us while we were not even his friends yet

(41:09):
He went and made us his friends he pursued us
You can see how the migtow movement saying and tases they suck
I'm not going to be around them anymore right not Jesus. That's not how he he approached it
This is why it is not a biblical worldview for a man to take to embrace that
Jesus presses in and he loves his enemies to the point of making them his friend but like

(41:33):
I don't even think we comprehend just how heavy that is really
So
It does say Christ died for us
He was buried as the scripture say he was raised on the third day. Yes, he was
He rose again
So Jesus he truly is he's the most masculine man who has ever lived
He's demonstrated hit the ultimate strength the humility to lay down his life

(41:57):
And he now lives it says he ascended to heaven. He seated next to God
He makes intercession for us every single day at the right hand of God restoring the broken relationship that was broken by sin
How much more can we respond to that and restore relationships
So if you if you want that if you want to receive that you says this if you confess with your mouth

(42:19):
That Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved
It's as simple as that
You are saved by grace through faith not of your own works
It is a gift of God. So if you want to receive salvation
That is how you do it you confess that you are a sinner you confess that Jesus is Lord

(42:40):
You receive the gift of salvation from him
You trade him. What does it call it in scripture the the great exchange?
The dumbest like deal in history
Why God gives you all of his righteousness and you give him all of your brokenness and sin like
What does he get out of it seems like a terrible deal? He gets his child home his glory

(43:02):
He gets all of that because he he gets to be who he is which is love he gets to redeem so
If that's you if you have prayed that prayer and you want to
Speak to somebody we want to help you continue on in that journey. Can I lead him in the
Yeah, would you please let's do it? Yeah, let me let me pray with you

(43:22):
You can use these words these beautiful scriptures have laid the beautiful
Palette the road right in front of you as an opportunity to respond. So let's respond to that gospel
The scripture says is he had mentioned
If you will you will say Jesus is Lord it says speak with your mouth if you will proclaim that Jesus is Lord

(43:44):
You shall be saved. So use your mouth right now at the beginning of this prayer
And say Jesus is Lord what you're saying is Jesus is boss. I looked it up this morning
I've said Lord a million times in my life. I made sure of what exactly it meant means he's the boss

(44:04):
It's it's a reference to a master and we are his slave and we put our our freedom that we thought worth freedom and
And find true freedom and he is our boss
So follow with me. Jesus is my Lord
Thank you for dying on the cross for me

(44:25):
I need you I'm a sinner and I want you to completely rewire my existence
Thank you for rising to life again on the third day
offering me true life beginning today

(44:46):
Please use me to do your will from now on
I'm all in to follow you and your ways
In Jesus name I pray amen amen. Thank you Tim. That was
It's so good. Here's here's the great news. It says in scripture because we have been justified by faith

(45:12):
We have peace with God the Father through the Lord Jesus Christ
All these men in this movement they're looking for peace really but they're not going to find it because they're looking in the wrong place
