Good evening, Come in, won't you? Why?

What's the matter?

Your hand is shaking. Surely you're not afraid of me.
Perhaps it would steady you to hear a little story
that was just told me, the story of a strange
ship that sails the Seven Seas with no cruise save death,
and no passengers except the dead. I call the story

the ghost Ship. My story. The ghost Ship begins in
a badly battered life for pitching and tossing on the
surface of the South Atlantic. Three men wearily bail out
(01:06):
the water which the breaking waves constantly pour into the boat.
A fourth man, burly and broad shouldered, is at the tiller.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
All right, biller, man, beller, what's gaining on us?
Speaker 4 (01:18):
What's the use of bailing? We'll never make land. Why
don't we admit we're done for and getting over?
Speaker 3 (01:23):
We saw that, Boson, We may set a ship any minute.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
You've been saying that ever a day, for a weekness tempton?
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Yeah, what is a cry? Take it to ship? You
snow easier there? Report All right, look sharply, I don't.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
See anything, just another false alarm.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
No, No, what's not Captain Arci, you're it's a small
steamer heading this way. Yeah, yeah, I can make her
out now, she's heading straight for us.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
It's that ship, all right. But she looks mighty funny.
Look how lows he is in the water. See the
way she's steers.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
She does, can't of stagger back and forth. Maybe you're
steering you broke.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
And there's no smoke from her funnel's eye there.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
If you ask me, she's a dairy link. Even a
derelict is better than this lightboat. The wind's carrying across
our courts, and we're going to border.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Half an hour later, the lightboat rubbed against the side
of the strange ship. The four hungry, weary men clambered
the border and found themselves greeted only by the uncanny
silence of a deserted sheep.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
See what about to tell you? This is a derelict
a blue Yeah, she's a derelicts all right. Look at
around work covered with rust. I'd say she's been drifting
about for a good many months. Supposed it made old
Grover water boarder douts. What waters now, that's what we're
gonna find out right now. Coconile searched the starboard side
of the ship you are the two search the port

side looks lively. Now we'll meet the chart room in
thirty minutes. All right, Boson, what a joke? Fine, We
didn't find nothing, not a single solitary thing. That's all right, Captain.

Of course we're saloon on the water, and then all
the holes in the cabins below deck are half flooded.
But we searched everything else and we didn't find a thing. Well,
Cook and Eye had butter luck. We found the galley
dry and plenty of can grubbing it. I left Cook
rustle up some chow. He'll be bringing us a hot
meal any minute. Hot fool dog gone. That's what I
was a want of hair.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
But I want to know is why was this freight
or abandoned?
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Hey? See why? This is a mermaid girl. There's a
name on the love book see the ghosted. Do you
hear me? We come up on a ghost it. We
gotta get off her or we'll die. Boston get hold
of you, so we do.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
This is the Mermaid Girl, and every cement in the
world knows about it.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
While Sarado's captain what is his hair? Mrmaid Girl? This
is Alice Toy, the Murmaid girl is a curious one
here ago she had her hells stove in a hurricane,
but she's loaded with lumbering court, which is why she
never sung it well. The first night out after the storm,
while the crew disappeared. Next night two more men went,
and two more the night off. I'm telling this post.

It's true, every word of it's so the men disappeared,
the rest of the crew. You need an abandoned ship,
only one lifeboat with five men, and it ever made port.
They are the ones who have spread this story, and
ever since then of her made girl's been drifted a ghost.

off o we'll die too. That's a cook outside. Something's
happening it Captain look there on the deck of tray
fishes and food. Cook was bringing hiss club and now

their group.

put a curse on her, and so the flying little

All night, the two men huddled in the chart room,
the doors boarded, the memory of Texas screams ringing in
their ears. In the morning, with a fog covering the sea,
they cautiously emerged and searched the ship. The captain keeping
his revolver are always ready, and they found nothing.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
That's what we found, captain, Nothing but the smashed lantern
on the empty gun line on the deck where.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Texas dropped them. Well, frankly, I think taxed the cook
went out of their heads and jumped overboard. There's absolutely
nothing on this ship that could have harmed out.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
There is, only it's something you can't see that it
wants to see it go.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
That's ridiculous. Bosa listened to me. I tell you that. Wait,
what is it?

What is the job?

It's a fog horn. It's a steamship someplace in the
fog off the starboard of us said in this way,
but you'll never see us. Look how fast the false sickening? Yeah, yeah,
we gotta work fast. There's a hen operated fog horn
up in the bow of this vessel. Get up tour
and start sounding it. I'll hunt for distress rockets. We've
got to attract attention before that ship gets too far away.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
I said, I'll signal there's the Wes.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
With the old good bed. No, she's pass the stern
of us blast this fog. If it hadn't figuring up
so fast we'd have been sighted. Yeah, what is the
Poston Now I'm plumbing both.

Olson orser, where are you?
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Here's the old?

Help me in the whole watch I kept here here?

It's enough. What a giant optimist. It's not me down
here in the old A technacle caught me, you know,
you pulled me in an octomus. So that's that's the
devil has been upon in this ship. Well, I can
see it both in just under the water.

I'm gonna try and shoot it. Honey, all right, devel

Again. It's a my guns and see I've gotta technical
tinnacles around my legs. I can't get loose. It's pour
me down into the hole too, am I gonna wait?

No under? The shipwrecked sailors who boored the Mermaid Girl
could find nothing. The devil who haunted her was an
underwater devil whose presence they couldn't guess. And so the
Mermaid Girl still drifts on across the Seven Seas, with
death in the shape of a giant octopus, her captain

you have to grow now, I do hope you'll drop
