Hello, and welcome to the Stupid History Minute. I'm your host, KEB. Pound,
and today we're talking about mister Met. Now, I know
a lot of you out there are like, I can't
believe he's doing this one, because you know that I
have a hatred for the New York Mets. However, I
do love stupid history, and this classifies as stupid history.

Mister Met made his debut in nineteen sixty four as
Major League Baseball's first live action mascot. Originally appearing as
a cartoon on the New York Mets game programs and scorecards,
he came to life at Shay Stadium, wearing the team's
uniform and a giant baseball head. Though he disappeared in
the late seventies, fan demand brought him back in the

nineteen nineties because their fans are dumb. Since then, he's
become a beloved symbol of the Mets for reasons unknown,
but he is known for his big smile, white gloves,
and enthusiastic antics. He's even been inducted into the Mascot
Hall of Fame, and yes, he's probably the only mascot
