KEP Pound. Today we're talking about Auto the Orange. Auto
the Orange is the official mascot of Syracuse University, known
for its big smile and even bigger personality. Originally, the
school experimented with various mascots, including a Roman gladiator and
a Native American figure, before settling on something a little rounder.

In the nineteen eighties, the lovable citrus character began to
take shape, and by nineteen ninety five, Auto was officially
adopted as a university soul mascot. The name was chosen
for its alliteration and gender neutrality. With no limbs and
an endless amount of energy, Auto quickly became a fan favorite,
embodying school spirit with an orange foam body and a
