was created in nineteen seventy nine as the mascot for
the Montreal Expos, becoming the first Major League Baseball mascot
to be ejected from a game by Dodgers manager Tommy

Lesorda in nineteen eighty nine. When the Expos moved to
Washington in two thousand and five, Upie stayed in Montreal
and made history again by becoming the first mascot to
switch sports, joining the NHL's Montreal Canadians. With his bright
orange fur, big smile, and chaotic energy, Upee remains a
beloved symbol of Montreal sports culture, bridging two major leagues

and winning fans over with his goofy antics in a
