(00:01):
So hello, there has been aminute. I am your host, Lena
Jay, and we are here inmy sword room where we dissect scripture,
reflect, pray, put on afull armor of God, sharpen our sword
on the move. My sword roomis wherever I open my Bible. In
(00:23):
this season, we have been talkingabout parables, and parables are illustrative stories
with spiritual messages. Jesus often spokein parables, and he left it to
the audience to understand its meeting.Of course, he gathered his disciples and
(00:43):
he told them what he meant inthose parables. But to the outsiders it
seemed like a normal story. Youcan find these stories on my website fire
starignite dot com in a section calledand Inspiration. I hope you're blessed as
(01:03):
you are going through my website. It is integrated podcasts integrated into my website,
and I hope that you can gathersomething from it. So here we
are in my swordroom. Before Iget into the parable. The next parable
that I want to talk to youabout, I want to invite the Holy
(01:26):
Spirit in. I want to invitethe Holy Spirit to guide me, to
lead me, and to come intothe presence where two or more are gathered
in his name. There he isin the midst. So right here in
my swordroom, right here in yourswordroom. Wherever that is may be your
(01:47):
car. It may be your livingroom. It may be your room.
It may be your dining room table, It might be a couch. I
don't know where your swordroom is.My swordroom is different. I could be
at my table, I could beat my study table. I could be
my dining table. I could bein my living room. I could be
in my car. I could bein at the park. My sword room
(02:13):
is wherever God's presences is. WhateverI open the Bible to sharpen my sword.
And so today I want to talkto you about the parable of the
Lost Sheep. It's the Holy Spirit. We invite you in lead us,
(02:34):
direct us, instruct us, teachus the most important thing. Teach us,
correct us, lead us. Wehonor you, we worship you,
We give you glory and all thingsin Jesus' name. Amen. So this
parable that I want to talk toyou about comes from Matthew eighteen, verses
(02:57):
ten to fourteen, as well asLuke fifteen, verses three and seven.
It's a story told by Jesus abouta good shepherd and a haunted sheep.
Only one of the sheep is lost. The focus here in this parable is
the lost sheep, not the ninetynine healthy ones, but the lost sheep.
(03:22):
So in this story, the shepherdrealizes that one of the sheep is
missing. Maybe it's at the endof the night that he counts his sheep,
and all of a sudden he realizeshe's missing one, and he begins
to wander where is the sheep. He doesn't just go on with this night.
(03:44):
He leaves the ninety nine and searchfor that one sheep. And I've
seen movies, I've seen illustrative videoswhere the shepherd goes through the storm and
he goes and to these areas thatwere really hard to get by, and
(04:05):
he looks for that sheep. Helooks and he looks, and he looks,
and he can't find it. Buthe still keeps going. He doesn't
stop. He keeps going, evenif it's storming, even if it's if
the valley, if the valley isgetting rough, he keeps going to find
(04:25):
that sheep. He takes time tofind his sheep, and when he finds
that sheep, he puts it onhis back. And he brings it back.
He doesn't repriment the sheep right there, and then he just takes the
sheep and brings it back to thefold. We're talking about a good shepherd.
(04:53):
We're not talking about a shepherd thereis a shepherd that's he only cares
for the healthy ones. We're talkingabout a good shepherd that cares for that
one lost sheep, that one lostsoul. He takes his time, he
(05:15):
goes out of his way, andhe finds that sheep. And when he
finds that sheep, he puts iton his back and he brings it into
the fold. This parable is usedto show that God and all of Heaven
celebrates when one sinner comes back intothe fold. In desparable, the good
(05:40):
shepherd brings the sheep back to itsfold, and they all celebrate because this
one lost sheep was lost and nowit's found. If you have a Bible
(06:01):
nearby, go ahead and open Mattheweighteen, verses ten to fourteen, and
let's read it together for more precisely. Verse twelve eighteen, verse twelve.
What do you think if a manowns a hundred sheep and one of them
(06:23):
wanders away? Will he not leavethe ninety nine on the hills, and
to go out and look for thatone that wandered off, and if he
finds it, truly, I tellyou, he's happier about that one sheep
than about the ninety nine that heor they did not wander off. In
the same way, your father inheaven is not willing that any of these
(06:44):
little ones should perish. And againlook fifteen verse three and seven. Then
Jesus told them this parable. Supposeone of you has a hundred sheep and
loses one of them, doesn't heleave the ninety nine in the open country
to go after the lost sheep untilhe finds it. And when he finds
it, he joyfully puts it onhis shoulders and goes home. Then he
(07:08):
calls his friend's neighbors together and says, rejoice with me. I have found
my lost sheep. I tell you, in the same way, there will
be more rejoicing in heaven over onesinner who repents than over ninety nine righteous
persons who do not need to repent. So he's basically saying, it's common
sense, right, it's common sense. This one of your sheep has gone
(07:31):
lost. It's common sense for youto go out and find it. Say,
if you lost one, wouldn't youleave the ninety nine and go find
it. So he's saying, inthe same way that you would go out
and find the sheep. The goodshepherd goes out and finds his sheep,
(07:51):
and he likens the lost soul toa lost sheep. And he says,
when he finds he puts it joyfullyon his shoulders and goes home again.
As I mentioned it before, hedoesn't reprimand the sheep the sheep, He
doesn't correct the sheep, he doesn'tdiscipline the sheep. He joyfully puts it
(08:13):
on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors and
says, rejoice, I have foundmy lost sheep. And so Jesus here
is comparing a moment in life toa moment in the kingdom. And he
(08:39):
says, I tell you that inthe same way that will be rejoicing in
heaven over one sinner who repents. There's a sinner that has turned his way,
a sinner that was lost but nowfound, a person that has lost
its way a little bit and isfound. Now there is a part,
(09:00):
or there is a celebration going onin heaven over one of one lost soul,
and here we find this truth.Right. And while I'm reading this
story, and I've heard it somany times, while I'm reading this story,
(09:24):
I'm thinking to myself, I wasthat sheep years ago. I was
that sheep. I was the onethat was lost. And Jesus he found
me. You know where he foundme. He didn't find me in a
church pew. He didn't find mein a church building. He found me
(09:48):
at home. While I was searching. I remember there was a moment that
I was searching, and what Iwas one was simply trying to prove something
right. I was trying to provesomething to someone. And so I was
(10:09):
researching and looking for scriptures as likePharisee do right. We're looking for scriptures
to basically back up our belief right. And so as I was searching,
I came across a scripture John fourteen, and he says, I am the
(10:31):
Truth, the Way, and theLife. He says, what are you
searching? What are you looking for? I am the truth. What you're
looking for is the truth, That'sreally what it is. You're not trying
to prove nobody. You're just lookingfor the truth, and I am the
truth. He said, just holdmy hand and I will lead you.
(10:52):
He says, just follow me,and I will show you all there is
to know. And so moment Idecided to give God a chance, I
decided to stop searching. Even thatnight, I think I forgot all about
proving anything. I gave up.I said, I'm done, And of
(11:15):
course I'm going to share my storyin my book. I'm definitely going to
share this particular moment because it hasdefinitely brought change to my life. And
in this moment, I didn't careabout anything else. At this moment,
(11:37):
I didn't care who was right,who's wrong. I didn't care you know
what, I knew, what Ididn't know. I just simply give it
all up and I said, leadme, Lord, Teach me, Lord,
show me Lord. And that wasthe beginning of my journey where he
began to lead me out. Ofcourse, that wasn't That wasn't the moment
(12:01):
that I completely surrendered. There wasother moments where I completely surrendered, But
that was the moment where God openedmy eyes and I surrender to Him at
that moment, not completely surrender tomy faith, but to God. At
that moment, I surrender. Andso in this story, the good shepherd
(12:26):
goes far and wide to find hissheep. He goes and he looks for
it. No matter where you are, no matter if you have gone far,
no matter if you're in the ditchsomewhere, or you're on the side
of the road, it doesn't matterwhere you are. The good shepherd he
(12:50):
goes out to find you. Andwhen he brings back the sheep, or
when he brings you back, hebrings you back into the fold. And
the ninety nine sheep that were withhim rejoice at the thought that one lost
sheep has wandered away and is nowfound. That's not the truth. Today.
(13:15):
A lot of believers do not rejoiceover the fact that pastor or minister
focuses on that one person, thatone person that has wandered off. They
do not rejoice with that fact. But we should be rejoicing at the fact
that one person is back. Weshould be rejoicing that one person has found
(13:37):
its way back and is no longerin the ditch, and it is no
longer destroying himself or herself. Weshould be joyful. So I hope that
(13:58):
story has really spoken to you, because I just wanted to share it.
I just wanted to share it.And I pray that this story has been
a blessing to you. Now,if you're following me, thank you for
following me. If you're supporting me, thank you for supporting me. Thank
you for being here. It couldhave been anywhere, but she decided that
(14:20):
you wanted to check me out.So thank you for being here. And
if you have not created a swordroom, I encourage you to do so.
All you need is a bible,a pen, and a notebook.
Open your ears, open your eyesor incline your ears, and open what
(14:41):
your eyes and just begin to seewhat it is that the Holy Spirit is
going to show you. My missionis to help you sharpen your sword so
that you can become a warrior,a great warrior of God, fight the
enemy on the battlefield.
