(00:00):
So hey, Darren, welcome tomy table fire star Ignite, where insights
are shared for your delight and encouragement. Today I wanted to talk about the
Book of Proverbs, but particularly theBook of Proverbs Chapter two. But before
we get into the chapter, andbefore we get into the study, let's
(00:26):
get a little bit familiar with thebook. So the Book of Proverbs was
written by Solomon, son of David, King of Israel, the wisest man
to ever live. He was wealthyand rich. He owned vineyards, fields,
cows, and anything you can thinkof. Solomon wrote the Book of
(00:47):
Proverbs. This book is filled withwise inside, wisdom, knowledge, experience.
Solomon shares the good, bad,and the ugly and leaves it up
to the reader to apply knowledge forgood and honest living. The Book of
Proverbs is actually one of my favoritebooks, and so I will be sharing
(01:10):
insights from the book and pray theyare a blessing to you. Chapter two,
My son, if you accept mywords and store up my commands within
you, churn in your ear towisdom and applying your heart to understanding.
Indeed, if you call out forinsight and cry out loud for understanding,
(01:34):
and if you look for it asfor silver, and search for it as
for hidden treasure. Then you willunderstand the fear of the Lord and find
the knowledge of God. Says,if you look for it with all of
your heart, and that reminds meof Jeremiah twenty nine thirteen that it talks
(01:55):
about if you look for me withall of your heart, or if you
seek for me with all of yourheart, you will find me. If
you seek wisdom with all of yourheart, then you will understand the fear
of the Lord and find the knowledgeof God. Verse success For the Lord
(02:19):
gives wisdom from his outcome, knowledgeand understanding. He holds success in stored
in store for the upright. Heis a shield to those whose walk is
blameless, for he guards the courseof the just and protects the way of
his faithful ones. Safety protection isavailable to those who are faithful to the
(02:47):
Lord. Then you will understand whatis right and just and fair every good
path. For wisdom will enter yourheart, and knowledge will be play to
your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you. When
(03:07):
you invite wisdom into your heart.Knowledge comes along, discretion comes along,
and understanding. Verse two of saysWisdom will save you from the ways of
the wicked man, from man whosewords are perverse, who have left the
straight path to walk in dark ways, who delight in doing wrong and rejoice
(03:32):
in the perverseness of evil, whosepaths are crooked, and who are devious
in their ways. Now right there, as I'm reading verse fifteen, it
reminds me of Psalm eighteen, versetwenty five. I believe some were David
(03:54):
the Psalmist is the author of thisparticular book, or even this chapter Psil
eighteen. He says, to thefaithful, you show yourself faithful. To
the blameless, you show yourself blameless. To the pure, you show yourself
pure. But to the devious, you show yourself shrewd. And right here
(04:15):
in Proverbs, as we go back, it says that these men, wicked
men whose words are perverse, haveleft the straight path to walk in dark
(04:38):
ways, and they delight in doingwrong, rejoice in the perversence of evil.
Their path is crooked, and theyare devious in their ways. They
are devious in their ways. Wisdomwill save you also from the adulterous wor
(05:06):
from the wayvered woman with her seductivewords, who has left the partner of
her youth and ignored the covenant shemade before God. Surely her house leads
down to death, and her pathto the spirit of the dead. None
who go to her return or attainthe path of life. When you have
(05:34):
wisdom, wisdom will save you fromthose women who are perverse in their ways,
who are seducted with their words. The adulterous woman Babel says that she
(05:55):
has left the partner of her youthand ignored the covenant she made before God.
She's a rebellious woman. And anyonethat stops by our house, anyone
that spends the night with her,or anyone that is in company with her,
it says that none of none whogo to her return or attain the
(06:23):
path of life. Once you enterinto her house, it leads to destruction.
Thus you will walk in the waysof the good and keep to the
path of the righteous. For theupright will live in the land, and
the blameless will remain in it.But the wicked will be caught off from
(06:46):
the land, and the unfaithful willbe torn from it. These are insights
or wise words from Solomon. Heknows what he's talking about. Solomon has
gone through much Solomon has faced much. Solomon has seen much, and so
(07:09):
he is speaking to us today. He is saying, watch out, so
that you are not let astray.Watch out because she is out to get
(07:35):
you. Because this woman or thiswicked even wicked man, not just woman,
but wicked men. They're out todestroy you. You must be careful.
And when you have wisdom, wisdomwill guide you. Wisdom will lead
(07:56):
you with wisdom will give you anunderstand and even discretion, and it will
protect you. I hope you havebeen blessed by this chapter. It's a
very insightful chapter. Verse one ofthis proverb book says, if you accept
(08:18):
my words and store up my commandswithin you, churning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding.Indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry out loud for understanding, and if you look for it as for
silver, and search for it asfor hidden treasure, then you will understand
the weird of the Lord and fineknowledge of God. So right there,
(08:43):
if you just obey, if youjust accept the words, if you just
store the commands within your heart andturn your ear to wisdom, it will
lead you on a path of righteousness. For his namesake, doubless and stay
tuned for the next chapter.
