Proverbs, Chapter five, titled Warningagainst adultery. My son, pay attention
to my wisdom. Turn your earto my words of inside, that you
may maintain discretion, and your lipsmay preserve knowledge. My son, my

(00:28):
daughter, pay attention to my wisdom. Side note, pay attention to the
wisdom of Solomon. Pay attention tothe wisdom that comes from the throne of
Grace, that you and I maymaintain discretion and our lips may preserve knowledge.

(00:57):
Verse three. For the lips ofthe adulterous woman drip honey, and
her speech is smoother than oil.But in the end she is bitter as
gall sharp as a double edge sword. Have you ever met somebody that was
sweet? Have you ever met somebodythat was so nice? But the minute

(01:23):
that she pressed their buttons, allof a sudden, they're not so sweet
anymore. All of a sudden, they're not so nice anymore. All of
a sudden you feel the double edgedsword of their mouth. This is what
Solomon is talking about. This isthe type of woman that Solomon is talking

(01:46):
about. A woman that speaks likehoney, and her speech is smoother than
oil. But he said, don'tbe full, because in the end,
when she's done with you. Sheis bitter as gall sharp as a double

(02:07):
edged sword. Her feet go downto death, Her steps lead straight to
the grave. She gives no thoughtof the way of life. Her path
wonder aimlessly, but she does notknow it. She is a blind woman.
She is a woman who doesn't knowany better. She is a woman

(02:28):
who is misled by the enemy. Now, then, my sons, listen
to me. Do not turn asidefrom what I say. Keep to a
path far from her, Do notgo near the door of her house.
A warning, lest you lose yourhonor to others and your dignity to the

(02:52):
one who is cruel. So thisis the pavement payment that she would pay
for coming near her and allowing yourselfto be tempted, Unless you lose your

(03:14):
honor to others and your dignity tothe one who is cruel. Your honor
and dignity as at stake. Lessstrangers feast on your wealth and your toil
enrich the house of another. Atthe end of your life, you will
groan when your flesh and body arespend. You will say, how I

(03:34):
hated discipline, how my heart spurnedcorrection. I would not obey my teachers,
or turn my ear to my instructors, And I was soon in serious
trouble in the assembly of God's people. In other words, you would be
filled with regret, guilt, andshame and condemnation. But it will be

(03:57):
too late now. Slomon goes intothe next section, talking about being content
with what you have. Drink waterfrom your own cistern, running water from
your own well. Should your springsoverflow in the street, your streams of

(04:19):
water in the public squares, Letthem be yours alone, never to be
shared with strangers. Is talking aboutsatisfaction within your own home, satisfaction within
your own wife, your partner.Let them be alone, never to be

(04:45):
shared with strangers. May your fountainbe blessed, And may you rejoice in
the wife of your youth, aloving though a graceful deer. May her
breast satisfy you always. May youenter, may you ever be intoxicated with
her love. She's talking about thatwoman of yours, the one that God

(05:06):
gave you to enjoy, the onethat God gave you to pleasure, the
one that God gave you to rejoicewith. He says, do not be
intoxicated with another man's wife. Whyembrace the bosom of a wayward woman.

(05:29):
There's nothing good on the other side. There's nothing good when you reject what
God gives you and you go andtry to find something else. There's nothing
good on that side. For yourways are in full view of the Lord,
and he examines all your path Theevil deeds of the wicked ensnare them.

(05:51):
The chords of their sins hold themfast. For lack of discipline,
they will die I led astray bytheir own great folly. So Solomon is
talking about being discerning number one. He's talking about not being foolish. Number

(06:14):
two, he's talking about using selfcontrol. Number three. He's talking about
being content with the wife of youryouth, being content with what God gives
you, to be satisfied, andto be content with what you already have.

(06:35):
And he warns you what's on theother side. He warns you if
you cross to the other side,if you decide to churn against God,
if you decide to churn or gonear this wayward woman's house, there's nothing

(06:57):
good on that side. Your dignity, your respect, your honor, you're
rich, your wealth, your richness, all of that, all of that,
it's not worth it. In otherwords, it is not worth it.

(07:20):
Therefore, just like Solomon says, drink water from your own cistern,
running water from your own well.So if you're married and you are looking
on the other side, you areenvying your neighbor, or you are envying

(07:45):
another man's wife, stop it.There's nothing good on the other side.
I pray that this was a blessingto you. I pray that you have
benefited from this, and you walkin wisdom discretion, and that your lips
may preserve knowledge godless and take care
