Speaker 1 (00:01):
Today's psalm to meditate on is Someone of five, And
that's a psalm that's taking out of the book of
Psalm written by David the Psalmist, where he shares his
thoughts and prayers on the situations at hand. David hasn't
encountered much in his life. He has gotten enemies to
(00:25):
go after him. King Saul himself was after him. He
fought the Goliath. David had really endured some things, maybe
some things he doesn't even talk about. Maybe some some
things that are in his heart and he doesn't truly
(00:46):
share well. Someone of five is one of those psalms
where David really shares his heart on how good God
has been to him. So he gives us a little
insight into his situation or situations at hand. Some one
(01:07):
of five. Verse one says, give praise to the Lord,
proclaim his name, make known among the nations what he
has done. In other words, testify, give praise to the Lord,
proclaim his name, Make known among the nations what he
has done. What has he done in your life? Proclaim
his name, proclaim his goodness. This is what David is
(01:32):
saying here. I will be reading this psalm out of
the New version's Bible, new version, Bible app or even
new versions, and I pray it is a blessing to you.
So this is David sharing his thoughts, sharing his prayer
(01:54):
with the world. Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name.
That's verse one. Make known among the nations what he
has done. In other words, testify saying to him, sing
praises to him. Tell of all his wonderful acts. Again,
testify glory in his holy name. Let the hearts of
those who seek the Lord rejoice. Look to the Lord
(02:18):
and his strength, seek his face always, he says, in
every situation and circumstance, I thank God. I look to
the Lord for his strength, and seek his face. He
goes on to say, verse five, remember the wonders he
has done, his miracles, and the judgment he pronounced You
(02:38):
his servants, the descendants of Abraham, has chosen once the
children of Jacob. He is the Lord, our God. His
judgments are all in are in all the earth. He
goes on to say. He remembers his comeing in forever.
In verse eight, the promises is he made for a
(03:01):
thousand generations, the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath
he swore to Isaac, I'm sorry, he confirmed to Jacob
as a decree to Israel, as an everlasting covenant to you,
I will give the land of Canon as the portion
you will inherit. Again, he reminds us of the promises
(03:23):
of God, especially the promises to Abraham verse twelve. When
they were, When they were but few in number, few indeed,
and strangers in it. They wandered from nation to nation,
from one kingdom to another. He allowed no one to
oppress them. For their sake, he rebuked, kings, do not
(03:46):
touch my anointed ones, do my profits no harm. He
called down famine on the land and destroyed all their
supplies of food. And he sent a man before them, Joseph.
If sold as a slave. They bruised his feet with shackles.
His neck was put in irons till what he foretold
(04:08):
came to pass, till the war of the Lord proved
him true. Verse twenty. The king sent and released him,
the ruler of people, set him free. He made him
master of his household, ruler over all. He possessed to
instruct his princess as he pleased and teach his elder's
(04:30):
wisdom Verse twenty three. It's a little lengthy, but let's
continue then, Israel answered. Egypt Jacob resided as a foreigner
in the land of Ham interesting name or Hum, however
it is pronounced. The lord made his people very fruitful.
(04:53):
He made them too numerous for their foes, whose hearts
he turned to hate. His people to conspire against his servants.
He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen.
They performed his signs, among them his wonders. In the
land of hem Hem or Hum, it's up to you.
(05:20):
He sent darkness and made the land dark. And had
they not rebelled against his word. Verse twenty nine says
he churned their waters into blood, causing their fish to dye.
Their land teemed with frogs, which went up to bedroom
of the rulers. Remember the ten um plagues in Egypt.
(05:46):
He spoke, and there came swarms of flies and nets
throughout their country. He churned their rain into hail with
lightning throughout their land. He struck down their wines and
fig trees, and shattered the trees of the country. He spoke,
and the locusts came, grasshoppers without number. They ate up
every green thing in their land and ate up the
(06:09):
produce of their soil. Then he struck down all the
first born in their land, the first fruits of all
their manhood. He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold,
and from among their tribes no one faltered. Egypt was
glad when they left, because dread of Israel had fallen
(06:31):
on them. He spread out a cloud as a covering,
and hanging on with me, were almost done, and a
fire to give light at night. They asked, and he
brought them quail. He fed them well with the bread
of heaven. He opened the rock, and water gushed out.
(06:52):
It flowed like a river in a desert. For he
remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham. He
brought out his people with rejoicing his chosen one, with
shouts of joy. He gave them the lens of their nations,
and they fell heir to what others had toiled for
(07:13):
that they might keep His precepts and observe his laws.
This entire psalm reveals the miracles of God. This entire
psalm reveals all that the Lord has done throughout generations.
He mentions Moses, he mentions, He mentions the Israelites coming
(07:35):
out of Egypt. He mentions Joseph, and he reveals the
miraculous that the Lord does for each and every one
of them because of the covenant of Abraham, because of
(07:57):
the covenant that he had made with Abraham. And so
we too fall into those promises. We two today fall
onto the promises of Abraham, and so let us continue
to just testify and magnify his holy name, because he's worthy,
He's worthy of our praise. As David says, give praise
(08:22):
to the Lord, proclaim his name, make him known among
the nations for what he has done. To tongue twister,
give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name, make known
among the nations what he has done. In other words, testify,
Go and testify, Go and tell what he has done
(08:43):
in your life. Again, thank you for joining me. If
