(00:27):
Today's blog is Cleansing Prayer and youcan find this inter section of prayer on
my website. During the day,we keep our bodies and hands cleaned by
showering and washing your face, brushingour teeth, and even using hand sanitizer.
(00:47):
Because of the pandemic, and I'vewrote this article, I've wrote this
blog during the pandemic, it's importantto be even more careful about staying clean.
We need to constantly clean eye hands, wipe down surfaces that we touch,
wear masks and gloves, and evenstay away from each other. You
remember the six feet rule of keepingthe distance. Cleansing is a process intended
(01:18):
to get rid of impurities or germsfrom the surface, intended to clean something
throughout the especially the skin. Itook it upon myself to do a little
research and here I've come up withPsalm fifty one. Psalm fifty one,
the verses one to two as wellas seven. David is pleading to God.
(01:42):
He's saying, have mercy on me, O God, according to your
unfailing love, and I quote froma new international version Bible, according to
your great compassion, blot out mytransgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and
cleanse me from sin, cleanse mefrom his up and I will be clean.
(02:05):
Wash me, and I will bewhiter than snow. These words right
here are very familiar to me whenI was a kid growing up. When
I was a child, I rememberparticularly declaring those words, wash me and
I will be clean. Wider thansnow, I would say, and I
come from New York, so Iwould see snow on a daily basis,
(02:29):
and it would remind me that Godcan cleanse us from inside out, the
sins, the transgressions. He cancleanse us from inside out and make us
wider than snow. So here,David is asking God to check him and
to search his heart. He knowshe is human, he knows that his
(02:53):
heart is wicked. He knows this, but he also knows God and what
he is able to do. Heprais this prayer psal one of my favorite
psalms to pray, and a dangerousprayer to pray. Search me, God,
and know my thoughts. Search me, God and know my heart.
Test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way
(03:16):
in me, and lead me ina way of everlasting. In other words,
whatever you see in me that doesnot please you, Lord, remove
it far from me. Lead mein a way of everlasting. Anything in
me that prevents me from anything thatyou got in store from me, remove
it far from me. So Davidis asking God to check him. He
(03:43):
gives an authority to locate anything inhim that would be found offensive. He's
asking God to examine his ways andlead him in a way of everlasting,
set his crooked path straight. Howmany times we've gone on the wrong path,
how many times we've done things, how many times we've gone in the
wrong direction. Here David is saying, examine me, and if there's anything
(04:06):
in me that does not please you, anything in me that is offensive,
remove it far from me. Hewants his heart examined, his mind renewed,
and set his crooked way straight. Before we even start our day.
(04:26):
We must ask the Holy Spirit toexamine our hearts and thoughts and check our
spirit if there's anything in our heartor mind that exalts itself against the world
of God or the knowledge of God, or if it's offensive in us,
to get rid of it. Anythingin us that is not line up with
the world of God is to betaken into captivity. Cleaning is part of
(04:50):
our daily routine to improve our livesand to stay healthy. Just like in
the natural world we wash our faces, clean our hands, and take showers,
our spirit, mind, and heartneed cleansing too. Our hearts and
minds can get polluted too. Ourspirits can get impure too. With all
(05:14):
the things that are going on inthe world and all the negativity that is
surrounding us, we should be cleansingour spirit even more. Not only that
the things we watch can be harmfulto us, the things we hear can
damage our hearing in the spirit. Our spiritual vision can be damaged too,
causing blockage and hindering the voice andunction of the Spirit of God. Because
(05:40):
of this, we may not seethings clearly in a spirit realm. We
may not hear or feel with oursenses. Our senses may not be clear.
We may make assumptions, and withassumptions come misunderstanding. Just like we
know and examine our bodies when weneed to take a shower, or we
(06:03):
smell bad, or we look atour hands and our hands are dirty and
we know that we need to goand wash our hands, we must also
examine our minds and hearts through theworld of God too, and be aware
of when it is that we needcleansing. David, in Pursuit in pursuit
(06:25):
of God's Heart, knew this alltoo well. He examined his heart,
he checked his spirit, He cameto God with a transparent heart, and
he passed on a pattern for usto follow. This pattern can be found
in Psalm fifty one, one ofmy favorite verses, and also Someone thirty
(06:47):
nine verses twenty three to twenty four. If you did not have a chance
to subscribe to our newsletter, Ihighly encourage you to do so. If
you subscribe today, you're going toget a quality content from Fire started Ignite
on a daily basis. We livein a world, but we are not
(07:11):
of this world. We exist inthe world, in other words, but
we function not as the world does. Yesterday's Verse of the day was do
not be conformed to the patterns ofthis world. This world has a pattern,
and we are not to conform tothat pattern. There are certain things
that the world does we are notto do, or we are not to
(07:32):
repeat what the world does. Aswe enter into the world. We must
not conform to the standards of thisworld, but rather renew our mind with
God's Holy word. If there's anythingin us that is causing us to act
prideful wicked, we must take itinto account and hand it over to God.
(07:57):
When we surrender to God, heis faithful and jail to forgive us
of all unrighteousness some fifty one versesone through four, and I quote,
have mercy on me, O,God, according to your unfailing love,
according to your great compassion, blotout my transgressions, wash away all the
iniquity, and cleanse me from mysin. For I know my transgressions,
(08:22):
and my sin is always before me. David acknowledges this. He says,
I understand. I understand that I'mprone to making mistakes every single day.
But I also have a savior thathelps me, a savior that cleanses me
from inside out. So if todayyou did not make this a pattern of
(08:46):
prayer, I highly encourage you todo so. I highly encourage you to
take my pattern. I'm going topray a pattern that I pray, and
you are welcome to use my patternto pray your prayer before you find your
own prayer. And so before Istart this day, examine my heart.
(09:07):
Lord, I know and know mythoughts. Are there any offensive thoughts in
me displeasing to your sight, anythingthat hinders me blocks me from your presence,
anything in me that does not bringyou glory. Take the awful stain
of my transgressions. Wash me clean, purify my heart, have renewed my
spirit. Let your grace and mercypour on me. Let your love and
(09:30):
compassion see me. I admit myshameful behavior and actions and ask you to
step in. Cleanse me with yourblood. A floor flows from Calvary.
Wash over my mind, Purify myheart, Create in me a clean heart.
O God, renew a right spiritwithin me. Purge me with hissp
make me witer than snow. Fillme with your thoughts, cleanse my emotions,
(09:54):
streighten my will power. I thankyou, Father for your loving kindness
and mercy in a precious name ofJesus, I pray, Amen. A
prayer is just a conversation with higherauthority God. It's a conversation, a
two way conversation where you do thetalking and God is listening. And then
when God is speaking, you betterhave your ears open and listen. Speak
(10:20):
with authority. You are cleansed, you are pure, you are righteous in
the sight of God, and youhave been washed. Now you're ready for
the day ahead. Now you areready for the day ahead. I encourage
you to make this a pattern ofyour prayer every single day. When something
(10:43):
is not right, when things aregoing wrong, go to God and cleanse
yourself. Just like you cleanse yourself. Just like you and I cleanse ourselves
in the morning. We wash ourhands, we take show we brush our
teeth. We are to cleanse ourspirit as well. Examine me, Lord,
(11:05):
and if there is anything in methat does not please you, remove
it far from me. I desireto be honoring to you. I desire
to please you in all my ways. And on that note, thank you
for joining. If you have beenencouraged, inspired, ignited with this word,
