Speaker 1 (00:00):
Famcast Media.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
You know, if you break my heart, I'll go, but
I'll be back again because I told you once.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
BEFO, welcome back to the Monsters of Rock show now,
as promised long ago promised the Kiss interview, the band
got a brand new album out, Crazy Nights, and I
caught up with Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley recently and
asked them, it's your brand new album. What's it all about?

Speaker 4 (00:31):
Boys, Well, if you buy the album, you'll find a
hole in the middle of it. And it's actually it's
eleven songs, and we spent a good bit of time
doing it and it's great. I mean, I can't lie, folks,
it's great. It's it's in the tradition of everything we've done,
that's real good. I think we kind of liking a tool,

(00:53):
a cross between maybe Animalized, which was the album before last,
and Destroyer, which was pretty good album from what everybody
tells us. Yeah, so it's quite good. I mean, we
spent quite a bit of time writing it, and I
think everybody's gonna like it when we're pleased.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Gene.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
I noticed that ron Nevison produced the album for you know,
he seems to be everybody's favorite producer at the moment,
after his success with Aussie and Heart last year. What
attracted you to him?

Speaker 5 (01:20):
Actually, Ron wears very tight pants and that was one
of the more important reasons that we got involved with. No,
that's not so at all. Ron had actually been known
to us for a while for his work with the
earlier English Group's Bad Company and led Zeppelin and so on,
and that was really much more of the appealing factor
instead of his recent success with some of the more

(01:41):
recent groups. That's not as important, But we'd been producing
our own albums for quite some time and we thought
maybe it was time to have somebody else to have
a sounding board off of, and Ron seemed like a
very good choice. In fact, he really came through did
a terrific job.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
I noticed a lot of the material on the new
album seems to be written in conjunction with people outside
of the band. You pull go away and write with
someone else, so with Eugene, don't.

Speaker 5 (02:05):
You guys also within the band, though the band also
coax material with each other. Bruce cu Lick and Eric Carr,
our guitar player, drummer, lead guitar player and drummer, also
co wrote the material back and forth, so somewhere outside
writers and some of the material was within the band.

Speaker 6 (02:25):
Keep saying, wow, that.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Troubles gown.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
Crazy Now twenty first album, Crazy Nights.

Speaker 7 (02:38):
It's the first one that you guys didn't produce.

Speaker 8 (02:41):
Why did you go to an outside producer? And how
is it different?

Speaker 5 (02:44):
I think it's just a matter of trying different things.
You know, sooner or later you hit all the basses
and it was right for the time. The next one,
we're going to do ourselves though this.

Speaker 9 (02:51):
As we reported in July, Kiss has a new album,
Crazy Nights. Is there, twenty first record, and there'll be
in record stores on September fourteenth. Kiss also has a
new video, which they filmed before seven thousand of their
most loyal fans, Kiss.

Speaker 5 (03:09):
Love in front of seven thousand screaming fans who came
because radio stations said, hey man, they're filming a video.
You got to go check them out. Bang the tickets
me like that.

Speaker 7 (03:17):
That's our fans, especially Paul.

Speaker 9 (03:21):
The group begins a worldwide tour November three, and.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Then Bruce was here for the first time.

Speaker 10 (03:28):
And now he's a full member.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
In case he's a full member, Bruce was always a
full member. We he just had to go through the
field of battle, you know, had to go through the
mine course, the gauntlet, the gas he had to you know,
before actually knowing that he was a full time member

(03:50):
of Kiss. Got to actually go through and fight in
the trenches and actually be there his first experience, his
first experience being in Kiss. You get right out on tours,
Jean Simmons, what was it?

Speaker 8 (04:06):
Huh so?

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Well, well, I ran and I got lost in the trenches,
but Jean pulled me out because I was holding a
cupcake and he smelled it.

Speaker 8 (04:16):
And that's how he found.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
It's good to be It's good to be bad.

Speaker 8 (04:21):
Nothing section take over.

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Otherwise we're not going.

Speaker 11 (04:23):
To Hey, it's excuse like you're watching Sinking Wang show.
Sinking Wing sh h.

Speaker 8 (04:53):
M hmm.

Speaker 7 (05:07):
Thinking standy here, people are living.

Speaker 1 (05:11):
Bill Wait here people bay.

Speaker 7 (05:14):
It's time for another episode of the Thinking Way.

Speaker 8 (05:19):
Why do we have a dizy here?

Speaker 12 (05:22):
Why?

Speaker 8 (05:22):
I tell everybody what else? What the album we're up to?

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 12 (05:27):
Man, before I get into the situation that we have,
but I just want to come clean that I fucked
up on the My Tramp episode. I said that I
saw a white lion White Lion on the what I said,
I said to who made whose tour? That was in

(05:49):
nineteen eighty six. Uh, but the actual tour I saw
was blow up your video? So just you know, just
for contact. I hate people that go on and just lie.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
But anyways, yeah, so that was a blow up your video.

Speaker 12 (06:06):
Uh. And just for context on the ac DC who
made who tour? I saw Queen's right on the Rage
for Order tour? So thank go brether Man.

Speaker 7 (06:16):
So yeah, man o, well, Mike Quent love with you anyway,
he didn't blow your cover.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
My nigga. Yeah man, So anyway, So hey, man, everybody,
how's it going? Man? How's it go?

Speaker 8 (06:30):
There? Going? Man? It is going. Man, we're ready to
get into some crazy is he?

Speaker 1 (06:36):
N How you doing? Sinkings family?

Speaker 8 (06:40):
I'm doing good, man, I'm doing good. I'm for it.
I'm actually looking forward to get it. Is this album?
I think it's gonna be fun.

Speaker 1 (06:48):
Oh cool? Cool?

Speaker 12 (06:49):
Hey before I get into that, that shirt you're wearing
is that a Triumph shirt?

Speaker 8 (06:56):
Tryesome?

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Awesome? I really like Triumph. I really like Trying a
few times live so right on Sinka and.

Speaker 8 (07:03):
Stanley, but well yeah, man, try and rule.

Speaker 12 (07:07):
Yeah yeah, they were really good anyways. But all right, man,
here's the deal. Sink it, Stanley. So we're going to
talk about the album that was released on September twenty
first of nineteen and eighty seven. The record is called
Crazy Nights, and of course it was put out by

(07:28):
the band Kiss. It was produced by ron Nevison. The
studios that it was recorded in were can And Recorders
one on one and Rumbo Recorders in Tarzana, Hollywood, and
Los Angeles, respectively. It was the highest nineteen eighties charting Kiss.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Album of all of them. Yeah. Yeah, it went to
nomber eight on.

Speaker 12 (08:01):
The Billboard two hundred and number four and my ancestral
passed in the UK.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
Uh so that was kind of cool. It has obviously
gone on to gun platinum. The band consisted of Gene Simmons, Paul.

Speaker 7 (08:24):
Wait wait, wait wait wait, let's let me stop you there,
so don't win platinum?

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Yeah, so it didn't go.

Speaker 7 (08:31):
Double platinum like our previous guests album who opened this
tour for them?

Speaker 1 (08:37):
No?

Speaker 7 (08:38):
No, unfortunately that's gotta hurt Paul Stanley's with a little booty.

Speaker 12 (08:43):
Yeah you would think so, brother man, you would think so.
But oh yeah, so uh anyways. But like I said,
Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Briscue the amazing our.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Car and then the little guy named Phil Ashley plays keyboards.

Speaker 12 (09:03):
And I saw the tour and sing it's Daney if
you could post my ticket stub, not the post the
picture of the venue I was at the anyway, So
sing It's Danley, post my ticket stub Wednesday Wednesday.

Speaker 8 (09:19):
You got it, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
Brother man.

Speaker 12 (09:21):
Wednesday, March Wednesday, March thirtieth of nineteen eighty eight at
the San Francisco, San Francisco Civic Center, same place I
saw Creatures of the Night tour the band and Thrax,
and Thrax opened up and uh a crazy nights, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
I know, wow wow yeah.

Speaker 12 (09:47):
At batchit crazy brother man, Yeah yeah, And uh you know,
before I get in on my little dates and everything,
I want to say something.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
I want to say something, and I want to say
I want to welcome.

Speaker 12 (10:01):
I want to welcome back to the show, David Lee,
David Leif and Ken Sharp, Ken Sharp, that amazing book.
I'm gonna milk this shit into the end and I
don't give one fuck, so suck my deck, bitches, all right,
So I want to tell y'all, what Gene Simmons Before

(10:24):
I get into the hardcore staffs and everything. But so
Gene Simmons says in the book by the Those Crazy
Kids David Leaf and Ken Shark, So Gene Simmons says,
Crazy Nights was one of my least favorite records of
any of the ones that we've done.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
I thought it sounded thin.

Speaker 12 (10:48):
I thought we became a happy band, although it sold
a ton of records worldwide. If it was Paul, probably
four stars. If it was me, only two stars. It's
much too happy. Let's have a good time. I love
you makes me want to wretch. I think the plan

(11:10):
is okay, and some of the songwriting is okay, but
it's much too pop.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
And uh yeah I wanted to do that.

Speaker 8 (11:19):
And uh I pretty much agree with him.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Oh okay, I know all right.

Speaker 8 (11:25):
So uh yeah, yeah we'll see.

Speaker 1 (11:27):
Yeah yeah yeah yeah, we'll see.

Speaker 12 (11:29):
We got we We have a ship ton of conversation,
a ship ton of kiss.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Uh uh just manusha.

Speaker 12 (11:39):
We are like massive Kiss fans and we may not
be the scab Kiss Alliance.

Speaker 1 (11:46):
Meaning everything every day.

Speaker 12 (11:50):
All the time, no matter what Kiss puts out, no
matter what they do, no matter what they say we
are gonna support them. We are gonna be basically Jim
Jones apologists. So anyways, that ain't you an amy amazing
me and sink. All right, let's go back to the
nineteen hundred and eighty seven. So on September twenty first,

(12:13):
nineteen eighty seven, the number one movie in our country
was Fatal Attraction?

Speaker 8 (12:19):
Did Did You Go?

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Right?

Speaker 12 (12:24):
And of course we're gonna be We are gonna welcome
with a with open arms and.

Speaker 1 (12:30):
Open legs, as Paul Stanley used to say.

Speaker 12 (12:33):
The number one TV show in the United States of
America was The.

Speaker 8 (12:38):
Cosby Show, Oh My God Again? Yeah, I know, I know.

Speaker 12 (12:43):
And the number one album on the pop the Billboard
two hundred on September twenty first, nineteen hundred and eighty
seven was Bon Jovie Slippery Slippery.

Speaker 8 (12:57):
Win weg Well, Who's there?

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 12 (13:01):
Yeah, it was a monster album. It was fucking generational popularity.
And then number one sound was Whitney Houston. Didn't We Didn't.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
We have it all?

Speaker 12 (13:16):
The Whitney Houston And then the last but not least,
the NFL Champions of the nineteen eighty seventh season, where
the Washington Redskins the first time brother won the Super
Bowl as a quarterback, Doug Williams, and then unfortunately the

(13:38):
Los Angeles Lakers beat that team. The defending champs, the
Boston Celtis, and then the n MLB champs was those
pesky Minnesota Twins, and they last, but not least, the
NHL champions were one of the most definitive, conic fucking teams.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
In all world global sports, the Edmonton Oilers. Yes it's counting,
all right?

Speaker 12 (14:10):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (14:10):
Who?

Speaker 8 (14:12):
All right?

Speaker 4 (14:13):
Man?

Speaker 13 (14:15):
Yeah, buddy, So you've already get into this way, go
for it by the man real quick before we go
to the first song, Man, what did you think of
the cover album?

Speaker 8 (14:28):
What'd you get? A?

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Yeah? I thought it was horrific, wasn't it Dennis Warlock
or whatever?

Speaker 7 (14:36):
Yeah, I think this was Paul's idea on this one,
cracked mirror, you know. But actually, man, I kind of
dig it in a way. But I think it's kind
of cool. But I think it would have been totally
badass this kind of cover if they were in makeup.

Speaker 8 (14:52):
That's just my opinion.

Speaker 7 (14:53):
I think it would look cool as a makeup album
with that concept.

Speaker 8 (14:58):
But anyway, anyway.

Speaker 7 (14:59):
Let's be Matt Hey let's get into this track number one.
You want to kick this off way? Why don't you
kick it off for a change?

Speaker 12 (15:06):
Yes, yes, yes, yes I do. And I want to
bring in uh back to the show. See kay Lynn,
See Kaylen, you know see Klan and David Leaf and uh,
I mean, let's be honest, see Klan, David Leaf and

(15:28):
Ken Sharp for huge contributor contributions to the s.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
But I want to read this so see Kaylen.

Speaker 7 (15:37):
Hell you track one crazy Crazy Nights.

Speaker 12 (15:42):
Yeah, well before I get to that stupid as ship
so see changes.

Speaker 7 (15:46):
Oh man, don't don't give him any un anyone, anyone.

Speaker 8 (15:52):
The spoiler alert.

Speaker 12 (15:54):
Yeah okay, but let me just hear it. So in
this amazing book by C. Klan as ce key Let
eloquently says Crazy Nights. The new Kiss album that ron
Nevison was producing in Los Angeles would be finished in
September of nineteen hundred and eighty seven, and a tour

(16:16):
was to follow in November. Early reports on the record
were highly positive and the chemistry seemed to be working
between Kiss and ron Nevison. As the release date approached,
Kiss Kisses precarious financial situation was becoming a factor.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Cash was drying up.

Speaker 12 (16:40):
Some of the suppliers and studios would have to wait
to get paid until the group got a final installment
of their advance from PolyGram. When the album was completed,
Kiss needed a blockbuster record to get massive radio atterplayer,
something they had had only really a few occasions in

(17:02):
their history with heavy airplay. Sold out arenas would follow
on tour. It was a tall order, and that it was.
It was a very tall order, and it never happened.
And anyways, man, so there's go and and just for
the record, it went to number sixty five, sixty five

(17:25):
so on the Billboard Pop chart. Yeah, yeah, not exactly
the lot fuster sixty five in the Billboard Pop Chart
aka the Billboard one hundred and personally, I don't remember
hearing this song San Francisco Bay area radio stations at

(17:45):
all at all, but I do remember MTV playing it
a lot. And I'm gonna give it two and a
five toughting riot, oh.

Speaker 8 (17:55):
Yeah, man, crazy crazy nights.

Speaker 7 (17:59):
Well, man off the batman, give a little though for
everybody out there.

Speaker 8 (18:03):
I mean, how freaking gay can you start off a song?

Speaker 5 (18:06):
Man?

Speaker 8 (18:07):
Come on?

Speaker 7 (18:07):
Not that there's anything wrong with that, man, I freaking
did this song, oh Man. And like you said, Man,
I never heard this ship on the radio, never heard
it on the radio, but it was all over MTV.

Speaker 8 (18:19):
Man, it's just.

Speaker 7 (18:21):
It's just so gay, cheesy and cornball.

Speaker 8 (18:25):
Not that there's anything wrong with that. I mean, I'll
admit though.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
I'll admit though.

Speaker 8 (18:30):
Man, it's catchy as fucking it is catchy. It is catchy.
And Bruce.

Speaker 7 (18:37):
And Bruce is solo is awesome with his whammy bar harmonics,
you know.

Speaker 8 (18:41):
And yeah, Man, I don't know and I don't know
what the heck the I.

Speaker 7 (18:47):
Don't know what the heck The Brits and the freaking
finished people were thinking. Man, this ship went to number
four over there across seats, right, But but I don't know. Man,
oh man, that video man with Paull walking on the
crowded ship. Man, oh h uh huh.

Speaker 8 (19:08):
Man.

Speaker 7 (19:08):
I can't say much about this song, man, not not,
not a favorite, nothing, nothing I really care to hear.
Number two I'll fight hell to hold you. Although you
know this one, this one, this should.

Speaker 8 (19:24):
Have been the album opener. Honestly, Yeah, Man, I kind
of think this song.

Speaker 7 (19:29):
Man, it's got a it's got a fast driving riff.

Speaker 8 (19:32):
Man, Paul's vocals are through the stratosphere. Uh.

Speaker 7 (19:36):
And and it's It's got to catch you as fuck
chorus man, and.

Speaker 8 (19:40):
It builds up to that cool solo from Bruce Man.
I actually kind of dig I'll fight hell hold you wang?
What do you think?

Speaker 5 (19:49):
You know what?

Speaker 4 (19:50):
Man?

Speaker 12 (19:51):
First of all Crazy Crazy Nights was written by PAULS.
Tally and Adam Mitchell. Yes, Adam Mitchell from U. Yeah,
we're friends with Adam Mitchell from Australia, right, you know right,
isn't it that our our Facebook friend Adam Mitchell?

Speaker 1 (20:10):
No, all right, all these years I was under the.

Speaker 8 (20:14):
Impression you can tell me about Adam Marshall.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
Well all right, well anyway you're not planning anyways? Yeah, exactly, whatever,
saying it down friend from ball down under you else?

Speaker 12 (20:34):
Yeah, you know what, I believe this guy should changed
his name to Adam Marshall because Adam Marshall is the man.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
But anyways, I'll fight help hold you.

Speaker 12 (20:44):
Uh, Paul Stanley, Adam Marshall, I mean Adam Mitchell and
Bruce kulliing uh and uh, as I eloquently said in here,
Bruce Cullick does a fine job throughout this album. Uh,
and then Paul Stanley. His singing is so high it's crazy.

(21:05):
Ship and uh, I'm gonna say two of the five
tough pick.

Speaker 8 (21:12):
All right man, trap number three?

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Way, why don't you take Bang bang you? Yeah?

Speaker 13 (21:19):
Man?

Speaker 1 (21:19):
Uh you know what here's to deal with? Bang bang you? Uh?

Speaker 12 (21:24):
Uh? It was written by Paul Stanley, Desmond Child, the
incorporable Desmond Child.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
Uh.

Speaker 12 (21:32):
Desmond Child said, uh about this song in the book
by David Lee and Pin Sharp, the greatest book ever.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Uh in the history of kiss books. Uh. You know.

Speaker 12 (21:46):
Basically, Desmond Child says the song was influenced by Sonny
Bonos by the Sonny Bono song.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Bang Bang You Shut My Baby Down?

Speaker 12 (21:59):
So yeah, yeah. Are you aware of that song by
Sonny Bonham?

Speaker 8 (22:05):
I No, I'm not.

Speaker 12 (22:06):
I'm sorry yeah no, and neither am I. And I'm
very mad at myself that I'm not. Anyways, I get
this song one out of five chopstick.

Speaker 7 (22:17):
Hell, yeah, man, bag bang you Man love Gun's bastard child.
Oh man, it's just terrible man with Paul trying to
teach us how to count like the count from freaking
Sesame Street.

Speaker 8 (22:30):
What two three? I mean?

Speaker 6 (22:34):
God, man, I'll sit you down with my love gun Tommy,
this game fuck, dude, man, when we're when we're hitting
Desmond thinking man, and I mean Desmond coming off or
write and freaking living on a prayer to.

Speaker 8 (22:49):
Freaking bang beg you come on. It's God seriously, man,
this song sucks all right. Man, Let's let's just move
right on to track number four.

Speaker 7 (23:03):
No no, no man, freaking Jean, Eric Carr and Bruce
Man just nailing it man with this instrumental. It just
got a killer opening solo by Bruce, I mean killer
drums by Eric Carr and then Jean just coming in.

Speaker 8 (23:19):
Man, It's just it's just just great man.

Speaker 7 (23:22):
Brusco and all Eddie van Hale and tapping crazy that Jane.

Speaker 14 (23:27):
Bust in with you.

Speaker 8 (23:29):
Man, this is so badass dude, so fast. And I
love this song man, I love no no note Wang,
what do you think?

Speaker 12 (23:37):
First of all, before I get into the description of
the song, I give this shit one out of five
chapsis bag oh man, But here we go, Here we
go by the man, Jean Sinon's beat, the great It's amazing,
Bruce killing and the incarparable and somebody that I will

(23:58):
love until the end of time. Car wrote the song
Bruce's openings with the solo of the song.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
It's quite amazing.

Speaker 12 (24:08):
Nice solo for shower Casey playing throughout the song, but
the song's not so great.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
And I give the ship one out of five topsick
but up Bank all right man.

Speaker 7 (24:21):
Track number five, Heller high Water Way.

Speaker 8 (24:25):
What do you think of Heller high Water Yeah Man?

Speaker 12 (24:29):
Gene Simmons in the incomparable Awesome Bruce Klik wrote the songs.
Bruce plays fantastic and great on this ship. If I'm
being honest, it's a little bit better than I remember
back in the day, because I did a podcast on

(24:49):
this album like a billion years ago with all these
really popular podcast people, and I don't really remember what
I said about it, but it is is what it is,
and if I said something different now then back then,
it is what it is. But I give Hall or
High Water two out of five.

Speaker 7 (25:09):
Compstick Day, Hell Yeah Man, Hell or high Water Man.
Geene trying to be sexy and missing his woman, but he's.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
Gonna get to her no matter what.

Speaker 8 (25:21):
Hell or high Water Man. This song sucks.

Speaker 7 (25:24):
I don't care for her, but it's got Paul, you know,
doing some dominant backing vocals.

Speaker 8 (25:30):
Yeah, I'm not. I'm not too into this song.

Speaker 7 (25:33):
I could care less, so uh yeah, and then we
get onto uh track number six, another song I could
care less about My Way? Oh my god, why why.

Speaker 8 (25:46):
Paul, why did you torture us like this?

Speaker 7 (25:48):
With those vocals being so Fred high Man, Oh my god,
he's singing out of the stratosphere and this song just,
oh man, it just it goes nowhere.

Speaker 8 (25:58):
Man, it sucks. Why what do you think think about
track number six My Way?

Speaker 12 (26:04):
Well, before I get to the incomparable lot in My Way,
I want.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
To talk about that nine.

Speaker 12 (26:12):
Nine albums that were number one albums on the Billboard
two hundred chart of two thousand, I mean, of nineteen
hundred and eighty seven and here they are, so nine
of them. So the first to lead off the year

(26:33):
on January third to January tenth, with Bruce Springstein and
the East three Band. They came out with like a
multiple CD situation. It was like a you know, like
a big thing documenting everything that was number one. And
then the then from January seventeenth to February twenty eighth,

(26:57):
Bonjo bon Jovi slipped when Wet was number one, and
then from March seventh to April eighteenth, Beastie Boys Licensed
to Ill was number one, and then from April twenty fifth,
nineteen one hundred and eighty seven until June twentieth was
You to the Joshua Tree. And then the fifth number

(27:22):
one album of that glorious year from.

Speaker 10 (27:25):
June twenty seventh to September fifth of nineteen eighty seven
was Whitney Houston Whitney, and then for like one week
the Lobamba Soundtrack was number one and It's physically the.

Speaker 8 (27:44):
Check.

Speaker 12 (27:46):
And then from September twenty sixth of nineteen hundred and
eighty seven to Halloween Night of nineteen eighty seven, Michael
Jackson's Bad Album was number one, and then two more enclosing.
The eighth number one album was Bruce Springsteen Tunnel of Love,

(28:07):
which was number one on November seventh, and they closing up.
I like that, I did too, and I hate Bruce Springsteen.
I hear, I agree with that, brother man, and they
ain't closing of. The number nine album was Dirty Dancing Soundtrack,

(28:28):
and that was number one from November fourteenth of nineteen
eighty seventh until December twenty sixth, and there.

Speaker 6 (28:37):
Go man, maam nobody puts Tom in the corner.

Speaker 7 (28:46):
Alright, man, So Wang, what are your thoughts on my way?

Speaker 1 (28:52):
My way sucks?

Speaker 12 (28:54):
Those keyboards are just terrible. So dating, very weak song,
very eat song. The song was written by Paul Stanley,
Desmond Child and a guy named Bruce Turgon.

Speaker 7 (29:09):
Who cares no.

Speaker 12 (29:12):
No, we're a very professional podcast. So I have to
get this ship right.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
So he was, I give a ship one out of
five tracktics.

Speaker 7 (29:22):
Fire all right, man, moving on to track number seven.
When your Walls come down? Oh my god, way you
want to take this one first?

Speaker 12 (29:34):
Uh yeah, yeah, yeah, yes, absolutely I do. And I
want to read a little quote from the corporable Amazing
Bruce Killing. So Bruce Culick says, uh about when your
walls come down?

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Yeah, anyway, so uh right, when you're.

Speaker 8 (29:58):
Welcome down, when you're all come down?

Speaker 1 (30:01):
All right?

Speaker 12 (30:01):
So Bruce cool it says, I remember having a couple
of verses kind of van handling, like bouncy things. Paul
liked it. We sat down and worked on it. I
wasn't around when he finished the song with Adam Marshall,
but anyways, so that was kind of cool. So yeah,

(30:26):
so anyways, I give the ship a half of a
chopster a half, so like a half out of five.

Speaker 8 (30:38):
Man. I ain't even gonna give this a soy sauce.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
Man, Dude, I don't blame man.

Speaker 8 (30:46):
When your walls come down.

Speaker 7 (30:48):
I mean, it's got cool solos from Bruce can't lie.
It's fast and snappy too, but it's lame as fuck.

Speaker 8 (30:54):
Man.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
It's nursery rhyme than Paul Man.

Speaker 8 (30:56):
He's up there doing.

Speaker 7 (30:57):
Freaking nursery rhymes and everything, and then he's like, you'll
swallow everything when you're with me.

Speaker 8 (31:04):
I'm like, really, Paul, really, come on, man, this sow
sucks man. Geez ah man.

Speaker 7 (31:12):
But but Paul redeems himself with track number eight, Reason
to Live, which I mean it's great. Valveta Cheese man,
and I love Velvita Cheese. I ain't gonna lie and
I love this song.

Speaker 8 (31:27):
Man.

Speaker 7 (31:27):
I'm a sucker for a good ballad. This is a
great ballad and for some reason I like it. Wang,
what do you think of Reason to Live?

Speaker 1 (31:36):
Well, first of all, reason to Live.

Speaker 12 (31:39):
I want everybody to know that the return of David
lead Thing, can shark David Leaving, can shirk be amazing?

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Be amazing? Behind the mass.

Speaker 12 (31:51):
My book I Don't give a fuck one you and
you think about suck you Hey. So yeah, man, here's
a deal. Reason to Live, written by Paul Stanley and
the incarparable.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
Desmond Child.

Speaker 12 (32:07):
And here's what Paul Stanley and Desmond Child said about
said songs.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
Paul Aileen, I wanted to have a ballad on the record, but.

Speaker 12 (32:17):
Ballads are real touchy because when you do a ballad,
you have to make sure you're not wimping out w
I M P I n G. Whimping out because you
write a ballad or because you write a song about
a relationship, that doesn't necessarily mean you have to write

(32:39):
about being miserable and not and not being able to
live with somebody.

Speaker 1 (32:46):
So it felt really real good about it.

Speaker 12 (32:49):
And then of course I'm gonna talk about what Desert
Child Paul Amily's love Chomping. That song was mostly my concoction.
It was more of a keyword kind of song. Paul's
contribution were lyrics. He wrote stuff on it, but that
was more moss my style sin than kiss. So uh

(33:13):
yeah man, uh and uh back to it.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
Here's the deal.

Speaker 12 (33:18):
If I'm gonna be real dude, I remember hearing the ship.
I should say, no, hold on, I remember watching the
ship on MTV all the time. If I'm gonna be honest,
I never remember hearing the ship on San Francisco radio stations,
whether it's.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Pop stages, cots of rock.

Speaker 12 (33:42):
I never heard this ship on San Francisco or radio SAT.

Speaker 7 (33:46):
But so what So what you're saying is either the
gay people didn't want to hear the ship.

Speaker 12 (33:51):
Maybe so, maybe so, but but but but what I
will say is I do remember this ship a lot
on empty and uh oh yeah, so uh yeah man.
And and let me just say something in clothing.

Speaker 1 (34:08):
I want to know one love is.

Speaker 12 (34:11):
This song is a ripoff of that foreigner song so
U up of that forner. So basically I get a
song one out of five chop chicks.

Speaker 8 (34:23):
Dump dang hell yeah.

Speaker 7 (34:25):
Let's go on to track number nine, my favorite song
on the album. Yes that's right, Good Girl Gone Bad
by Gee. I absolutely love this song. I'm not gonna
be ashamed about it. I freaking love the song. I
think it's a great Gene song. It's my favorite song
on the album.

Speaker 8 (34:42):
It's sleazy, slinky slitherin Jeene. I mean, dude, it's it's
it's just.

Speaker 7 (34:48):
Cool man, and he's got those super high vocals when
he goes best lit.

Speaker 5 (34:53):
Up I have.

Speaker 8 (34:55):
That's awesome, man, it's I love this song. What do
you think you the good girl got bad?

Speaker 1 (35:02):
Well?

Speaker 12 (35:02):
You know what, if I'm being real, I totally forgot
about the song. Okay, And obviously I did a podcast
about this album like back in nineteen eighty three.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
But no, the luck you're pointed, I didn't, you know,
but I don't remember what I said about it.

Speaker 12 (35:22):
But I'm gonna be honest with you. I think this
is a if. This is better than I remember. Written
by Gene Simmons, a guy with the last name Sigerson
and Diggins, I'm not gonna fly.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
The song is okay in.

Speaker 12 (35:44):
Twenty twenty five, I totally didn't think it would so previously, so.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
I'm gonna give this song three and five toughsdays.

Speaker 7 (35:53):
But oh wow, look.

Speaker 8 (35:55):
At that hell yeah way yeah, think on the big
MTV hit, turn on the Night.

Speaker 12 (36:04):
Yeah, turn on the Night. And let's what's let's yeah
all right on about So that's what's uh? The the
general woman that wrote the song, so anyway, was the
song was turn on the Night?

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Right, Bro?

Speaker 8 (36:21):
Warren.

Speaker 12 (36:22):
Yes, Sir, Paul Stanley, Diane Warren, Uh, Dailly Gate Uh
and uh. This is from the amazing book David leave
Thing can sharp those crazy kids. They're back when they attack.
This is what Diane Warren said about Turn On the Night.

(36:42):
I hadn't had a lot of hits at the time,
but Paul Stanley had a lot of belief in me.
Paul has a good top sensibility. Paul's a song guy.
He's a good writer, and he appreciates good songs. I
love a fun writing Turn on the Night with him,

(37:03):
I thought it would have been a bigger hit than
it turned out to be.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
And and and then pauls emmy.

Speaker 12 (37:11):
I've known Diane warrens before she even ever became Diane
Warren in Capitol Records. Last when I was writing songs
for Crazy Nights, I was I, uh, Crazy Nights. I
very much wanted to write a song with her. Diane
came from came up with the title, and then we

(37:33):
wrote it.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
So anyways, oh, daego man, Diane Warren fact.

Speaker 7 (37:38):
Hell yeah, Well, Paul never had any hits with Diane
Warren because he's not Steven Tyler.

Speaker 8 (37:43):
But anyway, turn On the Night.

Speaker 7 (37:47):
Man, It's just man, it's just Paul trying to write
another cheesy anthem song. Man, I'm like, turn off this song, man,
it's it does nothing for me. Man, turn on the
Night sucks, man, and.

Speaker 8 (38:02):
And and it almost and it sucks just as bad
as the last song on the album. And I'm actually
glad that we're at the last song on the.

Speaker 7 (38:08):
Album because track number of eleven Thief in the Night Man,
Oh my goodness, man, this song is just terrible.

Speaker 8 (38:17):
Dude.

Speaker 7 (38:18):
I mean it's like, oh god, Man, by this time,
you're glad the album's over with.

Speaker 8 (38:26):
And uh so, wag what do you think of Thief
in the Night?

Speaker 12 (38:31):
And then there's there's plant as Day I wrote it,
says uh Gene Simmons, Mitch Weisman, It's okay. I guess
it has a few moments that that I liked that
I forgot, But.

Speaker 1 (38:47):
No, is it because a graffiti?

Speaker 7 (38:50):
No?

Speaker 1 (38:50):
But I don't think it's so shitty. So I'm gonna
give this ship two.

Speaker 8 (38:54):
And five to Wow. Man, you thought of it more
than I did. Dang man, yeah fuck it. I mean yeah,
there's there's nothing I can redeem about it.

Speaker 5 (39:05):
Man.

Speaker 8 (39:05):
Maybe the solo of Bruce is solo.

Speaker 7 (39:07):
But you know, Bruce, Bruce can polish any third with
his guitar solos.

Speaker 8 (39:14):
Man, you know, he can make any any third sound good. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
he puts his solo on it. Man.

Speaker 7 (39:22):
It's just that's just the way it is, because he's
so great and a guitar player.

Speaker 1 (39:26):
That's it, brother, that's it.

Speaker 7 (39:28):
Yeah, man, that is crazy nice man, wag, You got
anything else to say about Crazy Nights?

Speaker 12 (39:37):
No, man, I don't. But you know what I do
want to say is nineteen eighty seven was a big year.
And you know, for Kiss, they waited from eighty five
with Asylum to have a produced album by a big producer,

(40:00):
and it marginally did good for them, But I honestly
don't think it did good for them.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
But it is what it is, man, So right, I
think it was.

Speaker 7 (40:13):
A bigger year for thrash metal man, to be honest
with absolutely. I mean I was more into the thrash
bands at this time than this crap.

Speaker 14 (40:21):
I mean, oh yeah, yeah, I mean seriously, I mean
and honestly, man, this was like the one of the
last Kiss albums that I forced myself to listen to
just to stay loyal to.

Speaker 7 (40:33):
The band, right, And I don't know, man, it's just
after this I just I mean, even after.

Speaker 8 (40:40):
Animalized, I was kind of like out of like you know,
Animalized Asylum. Crazy Nights, you know, they just they have
their high points, you know. They got some good songs,
a couple of good.

Speaker 7 (40:52):
Songs here and there, but most of it is just
filler and just trying to keep up with the bon
jovies of the world that I was just I was
just in a different place at this time, man, Musically,
to be quite honest, I really.

Speaker 8 (41:07):
Wasn't in the kiss man.

Speaker 7 (41:09):
I was more into Megadeth, Metallica, am.

Speaker 8 (41:12):
Brack Slayer, the Big Four.

Speaker 5 (41:14):
Man.

Speaker 8 (41:15):
Yeah, you know, still jamming the Priests and maiden Ship
at this time, but just there was so.

Speaker 7 (41:23):
Much other stuff going on, man, King Diamond, just I mean,
so much better, better written music than this crowd.

Speaker 8 (41:33):
I mean, I'm sorry, that's just the truth. I'm sorry
if I heard any discards feelings out.

Speaker 1 (41:38):
There, like like we care exactly.

Speaker 7 (41:43):
I mean, I'm the biggest kiss card on the planet,
but I ain't gonna sit here in lather.

Speaker 8 (41:48):
You're lather, you know, Crazy Nights. I mean, I mean, yeah,
I like what I like who cares, but overall, man,
that it.

Speaker 1 (41:58):
Man, that's it.

Speaker 8 (42:00):
Hell yeah, man, it's a wag.

Speaker 12 (42:02):
Man.

Speaker 8 (42:02):
You got anything else to say?

Speaker 1 (42:04):
No, I ain't getting none to say.

Speaker 7 (42:06):
Brother than well, I got one more thing to say,
and all I got to say is.

Speaker 1 (42:10):
That reps up another episode.

Speaker 6 (42:12):
That the SINCD word, So we'll see the next time.

Speaker 8 (42:23):
This has been a thick army production.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
Bam.
