Speaker 1 (00:05):
TV Deaf Leopard on MTV you got Rock of Aage's video,
Mark Goodman here tonight, and as we promised you something
we've been waiting for for quite some time.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Robert Plant, Welcome to MTV. It's not good to have
you back, thank you. Uh.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
And and here with Robert tonight is uh the new
album which is due out pretty soon as a matter
of fact, called The Principle of Moments. Let me give
you a look at the album cover, real neat looking
album cover, and I should ask while they're looking at that,
we'll just start with something real easy, like why principle
of moments? Maybe you can explain the concept. It's not
Jungian concept.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
No no, no, no, young uh no, young boy. I
think really, if anybody did any physics at school, it
wouldn't take him long to work it out. The principle
of moments is a law of physics related to equilibrium bollums.
And I think it's probably taken me a while, but
(01:00):
maybe I'm just beginning to understand more equilibrium imbalance. It's so,
it's a pretty topical old sites. It's got to has
meetings if you want it.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
To you know, just uh for your last record was
a pretty basic sort of a title.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
I think pictures of Alemen, yeah, or pictures in a
Lemon record.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
What was different for you with this record is the
second solo record for you or the second record where
you you can sort of thrust out into the world
and uh M, have you attained that equilibrium and the balance?
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Then?
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Uh? I don't think anybody who does what I do
has total sort of control of equilibrium and balance. But
I think I've got I've got it more or less
sort of that I'm more or less the master of
my own ship and uh and that helps a lot.
I don't really have to I'm far more in control
(01:52):
than the other ones before, So that's fine. I mean
that's pretty close to balance.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Is it the same people playing on the record as well?
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:59):
The only different person is that there were two drummers
on the first record, Phil Colin vand Cozy Powerliff. Time
it's Phil and a guy called Barry Bala who spent
years and years and tour after tour with jefro Doll
And after a certain amount of time he left or
something happened, And when he left, I think he decided
(02:21):
that if he was going to drum at all, he
should change his whole approach to drumming. And so what
he did was he sat down for about six months
and developed a totally new approach for a guy of
his years. He just put his sticks down and said, right,
if I'm going to do something there, then I'm going
to go about it differently. He's going to quite a
contemporary new music bandoning called Tandury Cassette, which.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Is we haven't gone one here yet.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
No, it's so far over to the left or the
right from how people may or may not remember him,
that he really demands quite an award. Yeah, I mean,
I'm right into that myself. You really have to say,
that's what people expect, that's what they're gonna get here.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
The arm Obar is not going to be with you
on the tour. I want to talk a little bit
about the tour. If you can hang out with us
a little bit, we're gonna we're gonna do some video.
What we'll do here is break away for a commercial,
and we thought since you're here that we would play
a little bit from the conference for Campuccia, A little
Sister Far Away that's coming up after this here on
(03:22):
MTV and more. With Robert Plant, Rick Springfield and just
ahead of it, little sister Robert Plant singing. Robert Plant
is here with us tonight and if you just joined us,
Robert's got a new record.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
That is what a week or so away from being released,
called Normal should be about me.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
So it's it's close.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
And the good news for us here at MTV is
that there is going to be a video.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
For which one I think, well, I know definitely what
it's going to be. It's going to be Big Loss,
super Block Covers, Trying Too.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
There's a sort of Spanish guitari feel too, hasn't it.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Yeah, it's a it's a very wishful song. It's sort
of rams the whole album up at the end, you know,
like when you get the credits going over a movie
at the end of the day and the hero whatever
it is, walking off into the semipepe.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
It's one of those.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
It has that feel. And yet, besides that, it's got
a lot to say.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
About me, you know, do you want to talk a
little bit about where you did it and who you
did it with?
Speaker 3 (04:19):
And I've still got a little bit of a working
relationship with the remnants of a company called Hypnosis that
used to do the Sepplin album covers and the Floyd
album covers, Acartney and whatnot. And they obviously have moved
into video being mercenaries.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
And these are people who have just done probably a
great video for you, and you say that about my
national television average.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
Yeah, they're probably going to watch it. And well, you're
gonna always like to be directed and pushed and pulled
throughout half of California, Debert, you know. But they are
because of their background and their history and their but
looking to refer to just that many different points in
time and place. They're remarkable for locations.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
And things like that. When are we gonna have it?
Can you?
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Well, I'll go I'll be an England on Monday, so
I would imagine by that Wednesday we'll be ready for
the week Wednesday, So I don't know when this is
going out.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
So hopefully we're gonna we're gonna have it here in
the United States within the next couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
I'll tell you what.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Another thing that, in addition to talking about the principle
of moments a little bit more and about who's gonna
be with you on tour, we're gonna break away here
and come back and talk about Robert Plant on tour
in the United States.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Station, Welcome back. Robert Plant is gonna be here with us.
Don't you go a wait with us? I think are
you with us?
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Almost just checking out the rest of the old MTV
ranch here Robert Plant. We're gonna be back talking with
Robert more after this. And I just continuing here on
MTV and we have a special guest with us. Robert
Plant has been here with us through the hour. We're
talking about the new record and a lot of people
writing now and and getting real excited about the fact
that you're coming to the US to tour again, or
(06:09):
should I say for the first time.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Yeah, for the first time.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
But it's not been that long, really, what six years?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
Only? That's that's not much that's happened to you in
six years, right, not a lot?
Speaker 3 (06:21):
No, I mean I've been really busy for two Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Yeah, I remember that the last time that you were
here you mentioned that you were going to record another album,
which you've in fact done, and uh then you would
have the material to do yeah in concert.
Speaker 5 (06:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
I thought it would be a misdemeanor to uh er
to put pictures of eleven out and then he was
out on the road with eight and nine songs. Because, Uh,
the way it is now buzz for me and for
Jimmy if you like, is that if if Jimmy decides
to work shortly, which I think he probably will, then
neither was sort in the position where we should go
(06:56):
out and ring some more life out of u uh
communication breakdown and a whole lot of love and to
stay away to Avenue. So it had to be for
me as an artist, if you like, If that's I
can be roughly called that or a rough artist, I've
really got to do it all over again. And that
is the challenge. I mean, without that challenge, I might
(07:16):
as well go to Vegas and do cabaret, you know. Uh,
And there are a lot of rock and rollers do now,
I've just been there.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
There's rock and rollers in Las Vegas. We don't ever
want to see it there.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
You like it, It's gonna happen, will happened for me.
I'll always be in Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
In the Blue Hills. Why why don't we uh show
the concert dates?
Speaker 1 (07:36):
Yeah for this uh, and be aware the Robert is
gonna be on a tour here in the United States
and why are you at home?
Speaker 2 (07:41):
We're looking at the concert dates. Who who is gonna
be in the band? The same people who are on
the record.
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Yeah, Robbie Blunt guitar, Paul Martinez place Jess Woodrough keyboard
on this leg of an American too? Or Phil Collins
will play drums, but that's not the case for Europe.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
Am I right?
Speaker 1 (07:59):
Or no?
Speaker 3 (08:00):
There's another As we talk on Friday here or whatever
day is here, the band are rehearsing in London with
another drummer, an American, and I also have an American
playing second guitar and keyboards. Bob Mayer from Foreigner and
Errol Smith and Frampton. Who's excellent?
Speaker 2 (08:21):
What is it that's happening?
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Then with the band, they're saying the second leg of
the tour, who's gonna be?
Speaker 3 (08:25):
But I wouldn't mind doing this twice, you know, twice
at night. It's easy.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
We have burning down one side coming up. We're gonna
do that right here? Do you want to introduce it? Perhaps?
Is there any Is there anything I say about this video?
Speaker 4 (08:40):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Yeah, well everything that you try first time around can
get better by the second attempt. I mean, I think
it's a funny video. It's very silly. I think what
it does is it shows everybody that I'm not standing
on top of a hill with sparks flying out my
parents quite an ordinarly guy.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
You know, we're gonna wait then for Big Log, which
is coming up a couple of weeks away from the
new record. This one is burning down one side Robert
Plant and more with Robert.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
There you got don't.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Change Mark Good been here with you and spending the
hour with us has been Robert Plant. It's been a
lot of fun talking with you tonight. Yes, it's been great,
and we gave you to tour dates a little earlier.
Robert has a record which is not in the storage yet.
I should mention that although you are going to be
seeing some video from it here on MTV, I'd say
a couple of weeks down the road. It's called the
principle of Moments. You're gonna be seeing Big Log. I'm
gonna give you a look at the back, and you
(09:29):
ran through a wonderful formula, Robert. Let's lest we think
that rock stars don't understand mathematics, do you want to
explain the principle of moments?
Speaker 2 (09:39):
Just the mathematics of it before we go.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
When a body is an equilibrium under the action of
a number of forces, that some of the clockwise moments
about the full croom or any point is equal to
some of the anti clockwise moments about that full crop
all that same point. And I'll remember that from when
I was about twelve, So there must be somebody out
there when stand it too. Let's just balanced, keep it
all together.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
Take that sting.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
Yeah, where are you? It's too early for him to
be Do you know what time this is?
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Here?
Speaker 3 (10:07):
About ten o'clock in the morning. It's not Friday either.
It's horrible, but I'll see you about eight o'clock somewhere
in Milwaukee's another.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
Robert.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
I want to thank you for coming by. It has
been nothing short of insanity, and I thought i'd left all.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
I'll be honest.
Speaker 1 (10:24):
Watch Robert on tour and watch for the video, big
log and the new record.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
It's been a pleasure, and you too, right, we.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
Got more rock and roll coming up here on next
(11:07):
freaking Family.
Speaker 6 (11:08):
Here, people who listen, w A N G B Babe,
and it's time for another episode of the Saaking Wag Show.
Speaker 7 (11:19):
Let's turn the.
Speaker 8 (11:20):
Microphone over to Bill Wag worry.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
What do we got going on? Buddy, We're gonna do
the new Vixen record.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Yeah, rock and roll man, No, no, no, no, oh
d it got me all excited.
Speaker 5 (11:37):
I know, I know, put down that heart on Homeboy.
Speaker 7 (11:39):
No Vixen this week, maybe another time, but no, we're
gonna dock bluck. Oh man, I know, my bad brother,
I'm bad. You don't say it dearly d blah blah
blah bah. Okay, we're gonna be doing the July fifteenth,
nineteen eighty three album on album on Atlanta Records, The
Robert Plant and it's Robert plant second solo record, and
(12:01):
it's called.
Speaker 5 (12:02):
The Principle of Moments Hell Yeah.
Speaker 7 (12:06):
Yeah, and it's It was produced by Robert Plant, Benji
le Fear The Fear. It went to number eight on
the Billboard two hundred It obviously it went platinum. It
was recorded at Rockfield Studios and Monmouth, Wales. Obviously Robert Plant,
(12:29):
Jizz Wood, RoAF keys and synth, Robbie yeah Man, Robbie
Blunt and Bob Mayo guitars, Paul Martinez bass, Phil Collins
drums on most tracks, Very More Barrymore Barlow drums on
(12:51):
two tracks, and if anybody was wondering the principle of
moments theory. The principle of moments states that when a
body is balanced, the total clockwise moment about a point
equals the total anti clockwise moment about the same point.
Speaker 5 (13:10):
So there you go. You know a little bit of
information there.
Speaker 8 (13:12):
You know, it's a little too technical for me. Come on,
you're saying Stanley, that's that's making my head hurt.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
Yeah, all right, but hey man, let's get into some
pop culture notes.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
Hell, yeah, man, what do you got this week? Wang?
Speaker 9 (13:31):
All right?
Speaker 7 (13:32):
So the number one movie and the United States of
America me and saying Saint Ken Stanley's country.
Speaker 5 (13:46):
I'm not gonna make any comments other than that. Okay.
Speaker 7 (13:49):
The number one movie on that date was the Star
Wars part of the trilogy in the beginning Return of
the Jedi.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
Oh man, awesome, I love that. Man.
Speaker 7 (14:01):
Yeah, so that's a new one. We haven't said that
in our little our you know, synopsis of Yeah. Man, okay,
so hold that's reoccurring theme though, sink its downy?
Speaker 4 (14:13):
What do you think? God?
Speaker 8 (14:17):
What do you think?
Speaker 7 (14:18):
The number one TV show was on July fifteen, two
thousand and I mean nineteen eighty three, was this Dallas?
Speaker 5 (14:28):
Yes, it was Dallas.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
God, I almost said the Cosmic Show.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
All right, So what do you think the number one
album was on that day?
Speaker 4 (14:43):
Oh? By eighty three? Holy shit, Oh my god, eighty dude,
I have no idea.
Speaker 7 (14:53):
And the interesting thing about this is because this album,
in particular, it wasn't consistently number one every single week,
but most.
Speaker 5 (15:02):
Of the weeks of eighty three it was. But on
this specific week it was number one, and it was
Michael Jackson's Thriller.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Oh God, of course.
Speaker 5 (15:13):
And I think the week.
Speaker 7 (15:16):
Anyway, I don't want to get into this stiff, but
like a couple of weeks later it was the Police Sprediciped.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
But all right, So then, okay, now, now what do.
Speaker 7 (15:24):
You think the number one song on the Billboard one
hundred pop charts were on this.
Speaker 5 (15:30):
Date in eighty three?
Speaker 4 (15:32):
Ooh, man, eighty three?
Speaker 5 (15:37):
He're of our Lord?
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Oh god, I can't I can't even think, man, I
can't think. No, tell you, yeah, yeah, what is it?
Speaker 5 (15:47):
The Police? Every breath you take?
Speaker 4 (15:51):
You just said the album, Yes I did.
Speaker 5 (15:54):
I'm trying to give you I'm trying to give you way.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
You know.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
Too, man, okay, right out right.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
Out, I'm gonna say a couple of things about the
police during our review years.
Speaker 5 (16:07):
Oh nice, can't wait, can't wait, my brother? So all right,
So before we get into the situation.
Speaker 7 (16:16):
So, the Super Bowl champs of the nineteen eighty three
seasons were not the Los Angeles Lakers, like I said
on the Laked episode.
Speaker 5 (16:25):
It was the Los Angeles Raiders. Yeah. And the World
Series champs was the Baltimore Orioles.
Speaker 7 (16:35):
And the NBA champs, which was an anomaly in the
eighties because almost every single year was the Lakers Celtics.
But in nineteen eighty three, Doctor j Moses Malone, Bobby Jones,
Andrew Tony, I can keep going. The Philadelphia seventy six
Ers won the NBA championships of the eighty two to
(16:56):
eighty three season.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
No wow, good for them.
Speaker 7 (17:00):
Yeah yeah, yeah, Doctor Jason's only championship.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
In the NBA.
Speaker 7 (17:05):
And then the last but not lease, the Stanley Cup
champions were the New York Islanders.
Speaker 5 (17:12):
There you go see.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
Oh yeah, the Stanley Cup. Yeah, Stanley Cup. Yeah, think
of Stanley Cup.
Speaker 10 (17:31):
Oh man, yeah, So you ready to get into this,
I assure him, dude, all right, let's get right into it, man,
Track number one, Other Armed Man, I'll.
Speaker 4 (17:43):
Start it off U other arms Man. This is a
great song, man. It is a great opening.
Speaker 9 (17:49):
Track, nice tempo, strong vocal presence with you know and
that that chorus lead down your arms. Yeah, man, I
dug this song.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Yeah, I wasn't.
Speaker 9 (18:03):
To be honest, I'm not too familiar with this album,
and I'm not too familiar with this opening.
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Track, but I have heard it before, and yeah, I
dug it. Wig. What do you think of other Arms? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (18:16):
Right, I'm that and uh, anybody would the that's old
and remember its way back then it was. It got
a lot of airplay on rock radio. Uh and uh,
not necessarily anymore, I suppose, not that I listened to
rock radio, but enough that I would know, and I
do a lot of reading of playlists on you know,
whatever states and truff.
Speaker 5 (18:36):
I think it's a cool song.
Speaker 7 (18:38):
And if you're if you're trying to figure out the
meaning of the song, Timmy, Timmy, it's kind of sounds.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
Like it's about a love try angle, you know what
I'm saying. So uh yeah, anyways, I'm gonna get you yeah, yeah,
things to make you go.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
H So love triangle about.
Speaker 5 (18:56):
Yeah, just what it is to chance a guy? Yeah, no, man,
but you know I was dearly d ba ba ba
ba buck. All right, here's the deal.
Speaker 9 (19:06):
Four to five chops here, hell yeah, all right, man, man,
wag taking.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Number two in the mood.
Speaker 7 (19:13):
Alright, one yeah in the boodh It went to number
thirty nine on the Billboard one hundred and if you're
wondering what that is, that's basically the pop charts, and
it has been since the fifties.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
So it reminds me of I don't.
Speaker 7 (19:33):
Know, man, just chilling, like on a summer afternoon, very chill.
You've got your blog wog girlfriend just next to you,
just drinking her little fucking.
Speaker 5 (19:46):
I'm not gonna say it anyway, It's just a chill song.
I love, Andrew reminds me of you know what. It
reminds me of Michelle Marie. I'm not gonna lie, you know,
I'm saying top on the whole bit. Uh yeah, and
just listening to music. Not really a complex song, but
it's a really cool song. Man, I'm gonna get it.
Speaker 9 (20:04):
Four to five chopsticks, Hell yeah, man, my sentiments exactly.
Speaker 4 (20:09):
Man, it's a great song. I love it. This is
one that could be boring, but it's not.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
It's not.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
Man.
Speaker 9 (20:17):
It it's got those those guitar chords. Man, just just
like you said, just just chill, relax.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
Man, it's just a it's just ear candy.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Man.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
It really is, dude, it really is. It's a great song, man,
it is.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Man.
Speaker 9 (20:32):
It actually puts you in a mood, you know, hence
the titles. Just to a good relaxed mood listening to music.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
Man, That's that's what I get out of it.
Speaker 5 (20:43):
Yeah, I get the same thing my brother.
Speaker 9 (20:45):
Maybe maybe maybe by yourself with a chick in a bar,
you know, just just chilling.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
You have this on the jukebox man, right.
Speaker 5 (20:53):
Maybe a fireplace, maybe a fireplace, you know, in the bar.
Speaker 7 (20:57):
Yeah, at a place in Berkeley, California, Brand McNally's.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
And I do remember the video, man. The video was cool,
you know.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
Man.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
And let's let's keep in mind these first three tracks.
Phil Collins on Drugs.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
Yeah, and like I said, he's on every all tracks except.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
For too Yep yep, yep, yep.
Speaker 5 (21:25):
Right on, brother right on, Yeah, yeah, yeah, awesome man.
Speaker 9 (21:29):
Number three, mess it with a me me con Now,
this is this is where this is where he threw me.
Speaker 4 (21:36):
Man, I'm like, what the fuck is a mec on?
And I didn't I mean, I.
Speaker 9 (21:42):
Tried to look it up, but man, I just couldn't
really find anything that really, you know, I don't know
what is it?
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Man?
Speaker 3 (21:50):
Do you know?
Speaker 4 (21:53):
Do you know what a men is? It's just a
weird song.
Speaker 5 (21:57):
Oh no, I think it's a personal.
Speaker 7 (22:01):
There's another song coming up that I got a little
bit more, but no this one in particular. I mean
as far as I'm concerned, I mean, as far as
the title, I will address.
Speaker 5 (22:12):
That in a second, but as far as what the
song means to me.
Speaker 7 (22:15):
To me, it's about being involved in a recovery, trying
to save pride, and being in a circumstance beyond.
Speaker 5 (22:24):
Your own control.
Speaker 7 (22:25):
It's a very odd song title, and it stands out
hence exactly what you just said, Shi can standley very
very well, very good observation.
Speaker 5 (22:38):
Do I know specifically what that title means?
Speaker 2 (22:41):
Now?
Speaker 7 (22:41):
Probably only Robert Plant and maybe somebody else, Do you
know what I'm saying?
Speaker 5 (22:46):
So as you said, just me, I mean, the song
title stands out like a sore com Yeah. I think
if anybody knows.
Speaker 4 (22:55):
What the fuck a me con is? Please put it
in the comments. I don't know, some type of mythical creature,
I don't I don't know, man, I don't know. Yeah,
I mean it's it's just a weird song. It doesn't
do much for me, but it does remind me of
a keyboard era rush.
Speaker 5 (23:14):
Yeah right, I got no common observation. I give it
three out of five toxis pet hell.
Speaker 9 (23:22):
Yeah, man, So I guess you like to mess with
the meconf the mecon is playing with my dick.
Speaker 5 (23:28):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (23:30):
What if the mecon is like a male mypical.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
Creature, Well, then I'll pass it off to the next guy.
Speaker 4 (23:36):
Okay, all right, Tat.
Speaker 5 (23:39):
Number four, I'll stick. I'll stick with the shongry and
It girls, I got.
Speaker 4 (23:43):
There you go. Track number four, Reckless Love.
Speaker 9 (23:48):
Oh man, you know it's kind of got that Middle
Eastern sitar vibe at the beginning.
Speaker 4 (23:53):
Cool song.
Speaker 9 (23:54):
I dig it, but it really doesn't go anywhere for me,
you know, it's you know, I don't know. This song
didn't didn't really do too much for me. Wang, What
do you think of reckless Love?
Speaker 4 (24:10):
And this song did not feature film.
Speaker 7 (24:12):
Calls by the way, it's the one of the two
songs that did not very is Stupid various studie observacant
their observation scene and Stammy.
Speaker 5 (24:24):
So just a little bit a little off some of
the lyrics.
Speaker 7 (24:29):
Now Red, I'm gonna tell you what I think it's about,
And I mean, I'm guessing, you know.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
What I'm saying. So but I like guessing trying to
figure out what Homeboy's talking about. So one of the
lyrics is now Red is urgent.
Speaker 7 (24:43):
Green's a let off, and the score shows just another's
spin off. I like that man, And but just that
line alone, to me, it sounds like he's talking about
love at first site, you know, like you no love
first time?
Speaker 2 (25:01):
You know.
Speaker 5 (25:02):
Anyways, you know it's a good song because three five tossic.
Speaker 9 (25:10):
Plus you know he's British man and you know, so
he you know, he's a lot of their stuff over
there just doesn't really translate to.
Speaker 5 (25:18):
Us, you know, very try try humor, very hum.
Speaker 9 (25:23):
Yeah yeah, yeah, And they got different sayings and words
doing different things over there.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
So so who knows what the fucking meco could be,
you know?
Speaker 9 (25:32):
Anyway, all right, back back to Phil Collars on drums,
trying to rid through.
Speaker 4 (25:39):

Speaker 4 (28:17):
Wow, Man, what a year?
Speaker 3 (28:19):
Man?
Speaker 4 (28:20):
If that doesn't that year the musical must perception. Oh
my god, dude, Wow, wow, dude, we're really.
Speaker 5 (28:29):
Lucky or what the fuck hell Luckey and I obviously
fuck gory. I focused more on music here. Sick et down.
I know in the previous episode, I really went off
the deep on out.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
The world ship.
Speaker 5 (28:41):
But yeah, one, well I fee here's why seek its sawn. See,
it's down, sick is down.
Speaker 7 (28:45):
I figured I already did the get up episode and
that was only you know, right around that episode.
Speaker 5 (28:50):
So all the same shit. So what can I add
to it? You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
It's all good. You don't need to explain yourself.
Speaker 5 (28:57):
Well I am to the audience.
Speaker 7 (28:59):
I'm explaining to the audience because I like to be transparent,
not never mind, not transactional, not transsexual, transparent.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
All right, now we better we better get back to
through with the two step before.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I got you, brother, I
got you.
Speaker 7 (29:21):
Uh so, uh it sounds like to me to me again,
to me, it sounds like he's talking about having an
affair and very simplistic.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
Transaction with a transactional.
Speaker 5 (29:34):
No not Robert plan he no, no, no, no, like
my dad says, if you suck cock, you're a faggot, and.
Speaker 7 (29:42):
You know people are always talking about I'm gonna wait
for another episode because I have a feeling something's coming.
Speaker 5 (29:49):
Yeah, so yeah, yeah, Like.
Speaker 7 (29:51):
I said, three to five, top six through with the
two step, how about you? Horizontal Departure sadic.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Oh, Man, this is this is airy. It's kind of
airy too much keyboards.
Speaker 9 (30:02):
Man, sounds kind of cool when the drums and guitar
solo kicks in, But honestly, it's just it's just too
boring and dragon for me.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
Man.
Speaker 9 (30:13):
I do dig the guitar though, but other than that, Man,
just yeah, this one didn't do much for me, just
kind of boring.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
So on the track number six with Phil on drums.
Speaker 9 (30:24):
Again, Horizontal Departure.
Speaker 4 (30:28):
Wow, that's a weird.
Speaker 5 (30:29):
Title, Man, I really thought provoking one.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
It really is.
Speaker 9 (30:33):
Man, all guitar, man, funky bass, nice up tempo, killer
drums from Phil.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
It's a very ambitious, cool song. Man, I dig it.
Speaker 9 (30:46):
Man, Plant's voice is up in that slightly higher pitch.
Speaker 4 (30:51):
Man, I don't dig this song, Man, this song is
really cool. Wang, what do you think of horizontal departure?
Speaker 7 (30:58):
She gets downy with the word ambitious A fifty cent
word kind of like gymnasium.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
Hey man, you know, but it was man that you
listen to this song. It's pretty intricate. Man.
Speaker 7 (31:10):
Oh fuck it, brother man, No no, no, boy down
when you come to my town. All good, brother man,
all good.
Speaker 5 (31:16):
I like this lyric.
Speaker 7 (31:18):
And you said you'd never leave me in Fatton. You
said you'd never you'd beat my only one. Very simple,
very lovey dovey, but very very to the point. I
gave it four to five.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
To cool Man. Track number seven Stranger here then over there?
What do you think of that way?
Speaker 7 (31:50):
I prefer strangers in a strange stranger in a strange land.
Iron Maiden, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm just trying to be
funny here.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
The songs.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
You're pretty right, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (32:04):
You know what I'm the identity it has, yeah, yeah,
it has some interesting moments.
Speaker 5 (32:10):
You know, I really don't have a lot.
Speaker 7 (32:11):
I'm not gonna get into and talking about the follow
the room and Empire and how it has has Nietzsche
and overtones.
Speaker 5 (32:17):
I'm not gonna get that in uh entery hit and everything.
But like I said, it's an interesting song that has
cool interplay and everything, and I'm gonna give it like
I do. Every song on this record. The lowest song
rated is three. Never before three.
Speaker 7 (32:35):
Every single song on this record is at least interesting,
at least makes you think, at least wow, this is
you know, and this album back then as a kid,
obviously I'm old, but I'm not old enough of being
led Zeppelin. The first you know, from seveness I was
my era led Zeppelin. If I'm being honest, is in
(32:55):
through the Outdoor. So before that, you know, I was oblivious.
I mean I knew because of my older friends everything.
But a lot of this record is just radically Unzeppelin life,
radically Unzeppelin life now, even more so than the first
album pitches at eleven because Slow Dancer sounds like a
(33:17):
fucking led Zeppelin song if you ask me.
Speaker 5 (33:19):
But yeah, man, so there you go. That's my take
on Stranger here, Dan Over and there.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
Yeah Man.
Speaker 9 (33:27):
For me, it's you know, it's got a weird opening again.
This is a very experimental with the sounds. It's kind
of got a police sting vibe to it. I wrote,
it's all right, but it doesn't.
Speaker 5 (33:44):
Grab and pull me in.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
I mean it just it's just there.
Speaker 9 (33:48):
This whole album is very like it like relaxing, you know.
It's it's just one of those albums that you would
put on and just just kind of chill, go to man,
you know, go around and you know, do some work
around the house.
Speaker 4 (34:05):
You know, just just kind of muddle through the day.
Listen to this ship, man. It's it's very cool, man.
I mean, it's a it's a very good album.
Speaker 9 (34:15):
But but those those songs in the middle between between
in the Mood and what we're about to talk.
Speaker 4 (34:22):
About just just are kind of I don't know, kind
of mean for me, but I mean I dig them.
You know, there's elements that are really cool.
Speaker 9 (34:31):
But let's let's get on to the big one man,
the Elephant in the Room track number eight, Big Log, Man,
what do you think of big log? Wall and again
and again, real quick, before you say anything, what the
fuck is a big log?
Speaker 4 (34:48):
He never even says big log in the song.
Speaker 5 (34:53):
It's just the title a big heart on You're taking
a dump a big ship.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
I don't know, I don't no, man, But anyway, what
do you think of big log?
Speaker 9 (35:03):
Because I'm gonna, I'm gonna I got quite a bit
to say about this song.
Speaker 5 (35:08):
Cool right on man, you know, like you were talking about.
Speaker 7 (35:12):
As far as the sound of the album, you know,
and think about it, man, and he they he he
started this transition and in through the Outdoor very mellow, very.
Speaker 5 (35:23):
You know, not as heavy and everything and all that.
Speaker 7 (35:25):
He was trying to distance himself from the thunderous led
Zeppelin sound, even though so much led Zeppelin was acoustic
and blah blah blah blah blah.
Speaker 4 (35:33):
Oh and probably the super high vocals too.
Speaker 7 (35:35):
Man, Yeah, yeah, exactly, you know, and and a reoccurring
a reoccurring theme to me is just radically un Zeppelin,
like I could say this about this, this this this
radically un Zeppelin like, big log Man. As far as
the song, it went to number twenty on the Billboard
(35:57):
one hundred Pop chart, his first top forty hit, no
Top twenty hit.
Speaker 5 (36:04):
One of the songs went to thirty nine.
Speaker 7 (36:05):
But yeah, the first legit hit, and it was huge
on MTV. He went to number eleven in the UK.
Speaker 4 (36:13):
I might add, yeah, so.
Speaker 5 (36:18):
What the song means, Man, I at.
Speaker 7 (36:22):
First listened or maybe multiple listens to me, you know,
to anyone else, you know, and then if you watch
that video, you know, the excitement of the open road
or maybe even a you know, the basic analysis to
me would be the excitement of the open road, you know,
just just just haven't you know that sort of thing,
(36:42):
or maybe a more intellectual dissection of him personally would
be maybe it's even a metaphor for career tiredness and
the need for a break led Zeppelin.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (36:58):
It's an amazing song, and I'm gonna I'm gonna give
it five chop stick.
Speaker 9 (37:07):
Honestly, I think it's just about you know, leaving leaving
everything behind, you know, and just just driving on the
open road, man, and just leaving.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
All your cares and worries behind.
Speaker 7 (37:18):
And just yeah, same theory what I'm talking about. I'm
getting a little bit more specific, but yeah.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
No, that's fine. It's all good man, big log man.
Speaker 9 (37:28):
Other than the title, which kind of like throws you
for me, this is a phenomenal song.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
I freaking love this song. I mean I even played
bass on this song in a band for about a year.
I love this song.
Speaker 5 (37:47):
Ah man.
Speaker 9 (37:47):
It's it's like, this is like the the piece of
resist off of the album.
Speaker 4 (37:52):
You know.
Speaker 9 (37:53):
I wonder why he saved this for last on the album,
because it's just that good man. I mean, it just
takes you like on this ethereal journey. Man, it's just
so beautiful. And that that little vocal bridge with the
leading me.
Speaker 4 (38:09):
On all that stuff.
Speaker 9 (38:14):
Man, it's it's just incredible.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
Man.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
This song's a masterpiece. I mean, I've seen.
Speaker 9 (38:22):
Guitars play it. I've seen guitar players play it and
and and it's pretty simple to play really once once
you get that guitar tone.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
But the trick is, you know, you write something like that, man, I.
Speaker 9 (38:38):
Mean Robert Plant and his guitar player wrote this song together,
you know, and it just it's just simply amazing.
Speaker 4 (38:45):
Man. I could gush about this song all day.
Speaker 9 (38:48):
That's how much I love you, man, could I could
listen to it on repeat like five ten times in
a row.
Speaker 5 (38:53):
That's how much, right on, right on.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
It doesn't it doesn't get old or boring to me. Man,
this song comes on. Man, I never change it.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
Man, It's like love it love heh yeah hell yeah yeah.
Speaker 9 (39:08):
So anyway, yeah, well that's principle of moments by Robert Yes, sir,
oh man. Yeah the way man, You got anything else, man,
you want to talk about?
Speaker 5 (39:22):
Not really, bro, but I do want to make a comment.
Speaker 7 (39:25):
There's some guy that you showed me made a comment
in our stupid ass Facebook group. As far as I'm concerned,
every Facebook is stupid because it's all a bunch of
dead men.
Speaker 5 (39:35):
I mean, it's all a bunch of old people.
Speaker 4 (39:37):
You know.
Speaker 7 (39:37):
The only time I ever go on Facebook is if
I'm three seats to win. I have this very private
little group with a handful of people, and that's the
only time. But this one guy, cool guy, cool guy.
He made a comment about us like reviewing the same
album over and over and over, that all these other people, Well,
I don't think I've ever seen anybody review this album. Okay, yeah,
(40:00):
and when when when you're in the hard rock, heavy
metal ethos, you know, and if you're gonna focus on
classic albums, you're kind of fuck you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (40:09):
And we tried, Yeah, come on, we did.
Speaker 7 (40:11):
The Cure, we did the Rolling Stones, we did Corn.
We're not all the same ship, so we're trying. We're trying, Yes,
do we do? I mean the kiss ship? Yeah, everyone's
done kiss But that's me and sink at Stanley's Foundation
is kiss.
Speaker 9 (40:26):
Hell Yeah, man, kisses, kiss kisses. Well it was like
the gateway man to everything.
Speaker 7 (40:31):
Yeah yeah, but if but if you're but if you're
going to accuse us for oh, you guys are doing
all these kiss records, well that's what we basically had
our formation on and we both agreed we're gonna do that.
Speaker 5 (40:43):
We could do a kiss episode every fucking week we
come up.
Speaker 7 (40:47):
With the crew, not just reviewing, not a dumb ass
album review, but a dead cat could do.
Speaker 9 (40:52):
Like I'd like to think. I'd like to think that
we have our own take on this ship, you know,
not you you would think so you know, yeah, we're
we're different.
Speaker 4 (41:01):
People, so you know, we might have something new so different,
or something.
Speaker 9 (41:05):
Funny to say about the ship, you know, or or
an experience that is unique to us.
Speaker 7 (41:10):
When it comes to comes to yeah, yeah, we're not
gonna go off but hurt and ban anybody for saying
something that we don't necessarily agree with.
Speaker 4 (41:18):
But fair no, no, man, we don't want to go
to that.
Speaker 5 (41:22):
Yeah enough, fair enough.
Speaker 4 (41:24):
We get people, people, and gotta let people have their opinions.
Speaker 7 (41:28):
Man, you can't absolutely yeah man, Yeah, nineteen eighty three
is a magical year. It was an amazing year and
uh yeah man, so Uh, that's all I got, brother,
That's all I got.
Speaker 4 (41:42):
Well, man, I really don't got much. I'm actually looking
forward to our next episode.
Speaker 9 (41:47):
We got a cool one coming up for you next
episode that you know, I rarely see anybody review I
think I think I I think I searched it and
I found one one review do in this album maybe two?
But uh yeah, I think I think the next one
is gonna really throw everybody, and I'm I'm looking forward
(42:08):
to it.
Speaker 7 (42:08):
So yeah, this is this is my pick, people, and
the next pick is this guy's pick. So hopefully that
guy that said we review all the same ship all
that we're well, we'll like your pick. I hope, so, man,
I mean, I hope he likes that we get a
ship if we're being honest. But we respect our audience,
(42:28):
We respect the people that watch our ship. We don't
take that ship for grantic. There's a billy dumb ass
podcast with a bunch of old men in their forties
and fifties that think their opinions need something, and none
of our opinions mean ship.
Speaker 4 (42:41):
They don't mean shit. They only need something to us,
and that's all.
Speaker 5 (42:45):
That matters, man.
Speaker 9 (42:46):
And we don't exactly We were just hoping everybody enjoys
our take on stuff.
Speaker 5 (42:51):
And man ship man.
Speaker 6 (42:54):
We we're just here to talk music and have fun.
Speaker 5 (42:58):
Man and Drake get his beard, nay, oh yeah yeah.
Speaker 4 (43:02):
It's not rock and science. It's not fucking rocket science.
Speaker 5 (43:06):
Man. Hell god, hey, I drink in his beer. It's
sinking Stanley.
Speaker 7 (43:10):
You guys don't know because he's got his little uh,
his old thing, but sinking Stanley always has. I'm gonna
give a little update for all you people wanting the
mysterious sinking stamily I have.
Speaker 5 (43:21):
Like, well, I know I got my Guinness.
Speaker 7 (43:24):
Right, everybody knows I love Guinness, But sinking Stanley has
his little cup of warm milk, so he's always he's
always nipping the warm milk.
Speaker 5 (43:35):
So between being my Guinness and seeing.
Speaker 2 (43:41):
Hell, no.
Speaker 5 (43:46):
Milk harm milk, motherfucker? Hey, why not? Why not?
Speaker 4 (43:50):
Why not?
Speaker 3 (43:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (43:52):
All right, man, out of glasses always you my boy?
Speaker 4 (43:55):
Hell yeah man.
Speaker 6 (43:56):
This concludes another episode of The get Away.
Speaker 4 (44:00):
Shall we'll see it next time? Fail This has been
a Think Army production. Ba Bawn
