(02:12):
We welcomed Morgantown Mayor Danielle Trumpell to the program on Thursday,
and we spoke just a little bit about some of
the dust up that occurred around the Committee of the
Whole meeting and how the items that maybe made it,
well the items that did make it to the regular
meeting agenda that followed the Committee of the Whole really

(02:33):
didn't follow the path of the Committee of the Whole
as as it has in the past. Would like to
read this text that I received. Texter says, I listened
to the Mayor of Morgantown discuss how open communications is
a priority. However, it is clear that she and Butcher

(02:53):
purposely had a vote on the issue without having any
facts from both sides, circumventing the Committee of the Whole.
Now imagine if the former council did this with camping ban. Now,
what is the purpose of setting up a meeting in
two weeks to hear evidence after they've already voted. This
is an embarrassment and a major concern for future issues.

(03:18):
I think I would like to point out just a
couple of things. I think the first thing is the
PSC will likely get this case.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
What is it August fifteenth.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
The PSC will likely get this case sometime in the
next thirty days. Because of the League of Cities conference
that was held here in Morgantown. They adjusted their meeting
schedule so there won't be another Committee of the Whole
meeting in order to set that for the agenda. So

(03:51):
the mayor said time was of the essence because of
that particular issue. The other issue was she said that
there was really unanimous opposition to this effort. And later
on in the program, as a matter of fact, at
nine point thirty, we're going to welcome Delegate Chris Anders,
and I think he'll echo that same story. He attended

(04:14):
a meeting earlier this week in the Eastern Panhandle that
was put on by First Energy, that was attended by
about one hundred people, and he and I had a
quick telephone conversation. We're going to go into more detail
here this morning, but Delegate Anders said that really the
only people that were in favor of that project in
that room with one hundred people in it, for the

(04:37):
people from First Energy. That is exactly the case that
we've found in the meetings at University High School, the
meetings at Preston in Preston County, and also as in
the aftermath of presentations presented to the Mond County Commission
by Next Era Energy. And when I say the aftermath

(04:57):
of those presentations, I'm not just talking about the elected
officials that heard that briefing. They were all against it too,
but so we're all the residents as well. In addition
to Mon County, probably one of very few counties in
the state that has a mix of Democrat and Republican

(05:17):
delegates and senators. They're all united against this issue as well.
But I think the texture does have a good point
in that maybe not so much of an embarrassment, but
it is a major concern for future issues, and I
think that that's a valid concern, and I think the

(05:39):
best way to address or convey that concern is by
attending a meeting, letting folks know how you feel. Oh
by the way, hey it's Friday, and we made it.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Okay, So here we.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
Technically shoes plague the program and they continue. However, we're
going to work through those technical issues right now, some clouds,
a little bit of fog, sixty six degrees in the
University City. We'll be back with Nikki Kramer from Comcast.
We're gonna be talking about their new store here in

(06:19):
the city of Morgantown and some of their efforts in
the community. That's coming up next on top of the Town.
AM fourteen forty f M one oh four point five
W A Jr.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Join the conversation at one eight hundred and seven sixty
five eight two five five. This is the talk of
the town.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Good Friday morning.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Coming up at nine thirty, We're going to spend a
few minutes with Delegate representing the nine district, Chris Anders.
We're going to be talking about the mid Atlantic Resiliency Link,
and in just about thirty minutes we're going to catch
up with wv AQ's Just Jamie. She's camping for k
nines and raising some dollars for dogs out at the

(07:17):
Kendrick Family Ballpark. So we'll rounds out the remainder of
the program. Right now on the phone, we've got Nicki
Kramer from Comcast.

Speaker 2 (07:26):
Niki, good morning. How in the world are you?

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Good morning, Mike. I am fantastic, very very pleased to
be here with you today.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Okay, good deal. Well, NICKI tell us exactly what do
you do over there?

Speaker 4 (07:42):
Well, with as much pride as I can possibly muster up, Mike,
I'm the director of retail Sales for Comcast. I oversee
all the Extinity stores across their Keith Stone footprint, including
the one right here in Morgantown. My role is really
about making sure that every customer who walks through our
doors has an outstanding experience, and that means a lot

(08:04):
more than just offering great products and services. It's really
about understanding that no two customers are the same. We
don't really believe in a one size fits all. Each
store should feel personalized and it's really my job to
tailor our approach to meet each customer's unique needs.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Nick my job, Okay, Well, Nicki Kramer.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
She is the director of retail Sales for Comcast and
earlier this week they opened a brand new twenty three
hundred square foot store.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Can you tell us about that location?

Speaker 4 (08:32):
Absolutely? It is at seven four zero Venture Drive. And
really why that's exciting, It's really all about innovation. We
have transformed the store into a more open, just interactive
space where customers can explore the latest and internet in
mobile and TV and smart home technology. And Mike, I'll

(08:54):
tell you what if anybody, any one of your listeners
wants to stop in today and tell them that Nicki
Kramer sent them, will throw into free hot dog My
store managers. Yeah, My store manager is Charlie Damel and
Brian will be on the grill handing out freshly grilled
oscar myers. And that's not all, Mike. If you walk
away as a new Xtinity Mobile customer, we'll even throw

(09:16):
in the cookies.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
That sounds like a pretty good deal.

Speaker 3 (09:20):
But I got to tell you, though, Nikki, the question
that is in my mind is that you know, online,
the online marketplace, online sales so vibrant these days, So
why would you guys invest in a twenty three hundred
square foot brick and mortar location.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
A couple of reasons, all right. So first of all,
I find that the customers I see too every day
are much more apt to disclose exactly what they're looking
for to a real live person, right Like, I'm not
an expert regarding our dot com services, but I will
say that we have a really new simplified national tracing

(10:02):
structure as well as the student offers that I'm going
to talk about here shortly. If I'm a local here
in Morgantown, my advice to you is to stop into
the store because it's the best way to determine like
the best form for you. Plus you get to meet Joyce.
Joyce is one of my favorite employees there. She's been
there for thirty two years. I bet you a ton

(10:23):
of your listeners know her. Chelsey's there too. We've got
a great team to prepare to help. That's why I
think you shot but with us rather than online.

Speaker 2 (10:33):
You know, Nikki, I've had the honor privilege.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
We've been working with Comcasts since the contract with the
Mond County Commission was announced, and part of that contract
was a commitment to the community. Does this store in
any way kind of mirror what was maybe on the
on the construction side of the business?

Speaker 5 (10:56):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Absolutely, I mean let me let me addressing obvious right.
Morgantown is a vibrant, growing community, especially with students coming
back to campus this time of the year. We want
our store to reflect that. The renovation that we did
is part of a larger investment in Mont County. We
expanded our networks to include and connect more homes and

(11:18):
more businesses. We've awarded thirty thousand dollars in grants to
local nonprofits to support digital skills and workforce development. Like
our renovated Actimity store. Let's use engaged directly with our neighbors, right,
And that goes back to the whole question around you know,
the way shop online. It allows us to engage directly
with our neighbors, helping them access our networks of products,

(11:42):
of servers, services and savings all in one place. And
Maddie honestly for the first time.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Now, you know, as luck would have it, Nikki, there
are forty five hundred new freshmen and thousands of others
that are moving into continue their college education here in
the city of Morgantown. So and I'm sure some of
them are maybe looking to upgrade or maybe get.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
A new phone.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
So what what kind of deals can you offer them?

Speaker 4 (12:14):
Very popular question. Let me just say, like go mountaineers,
there you go. We've got some great right, We've got
some great student exclusive offers. Students can get, first of all,
really fast, reliable internet starting at just fifty dollars a
month with a two hundred dollars Uber Eat for Amazon

(12:35):
gift card included on us. Our plans are perfect for
students that are you know, much like my sixteen year
old streaming, studying gaming. Plus their mobile deals and no
contract options that make it easy to stay connected without
breaking the bank.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Okay, you know, I tell you, I appreciate you going
through those deals, but you know, like many people, well,
I'd like to have maybe a place that they could
go back and take a look and say.

Speaker 2 (13:03):
Oh, yeah, that's right. I remember Nikki said.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
That, Yeah, yes, I mean, Senny Mogul is a big hick.
Students love the reliability, the flexibility in the savings are
we have. Our now products are also really popular. They're
low cost, pre paid options for internet, mobile and streaming
with no credit tex and no contracts. It's really all

(13:28):
about giving customer control and convenience.

Speaker 3 (13:33):
Where can folks go maybe take a look at what
we've been talking about here for the last few minutes.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Seven forty Viasure Drive. Our team is always ready to help.
If you stop by the store, you might just you know,
walk out with a new deal and a hot dog.
We're FOURB and both.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Well, that sounds like a good deal.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Now, can you save more money when you buy at
the store versus online? I guess that's a kind of
been a question of mine over the years.

Speaker 4 (14:01):
Yeah, that is, that is honestly, that is a question
that I get often. You know, as I said, we're
going there our places national pricing, right, So we've gone
national pricing. So that means that offered the game across
the board.

Speaker 3 (14:17):
Mm hm, okay, all right, Now, Uh what if I'm
out of state, maybe uh lose my phone, break my phone,
end up, you know, dropped it somewhere I shouldn't have
dropped it.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Uh, how what can you do for me?

Speaker 3 (14:32):
I guess because I've got an immediate problem now.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
Yeah, they say the average human drops their phone about
three times a day. Don't feel that that's you. I've
been there myself, right, my sixteen year old Hylie, she's
broken her phone many many times before. So to all
of my parents out there listening. Number one Insurance helps
and we offer XMC, which is our our Exanity Mobile

(15:01):
care product and I highly endorse it. But even without it,
our retail specialist in Histor can help you explore your options,
whether it's a repair or a replacement or an upgrade,
will work with you to find the fastest, most affordable
solution to get you reconnected.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Okay, good deal.

Speaker 3 (15:19):
Once again, that Comcast stores at seven forty Venture Drive.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
They've got the grill fired up and it is a Friday.
It is time to enjoy a great hot dog.

Speaker 5 (15:33):
That's great, Thank you.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Okay, good deal.

Speaker 3 (15:37):
Well, Niki, we certainly appreciate your time talking with Nicky Kramer,
the director of retail sales for Comcast, and I'm sure
that we'll talk again.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
I appreciate it.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
Very much, thanks, Mike, had a good day, joy Friday,
and as I said, go home out.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
Here there you go. Take care Nikki.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
Great talking with you, and once again seven forty Venture
Drive is the place where the deals are and also
the hot dogs.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
So get out there today.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Out now it is a Friday fair day and is
luck would have it there. There are two fars going
on the Valley District Fair in Reidsville, and tonight they've
got the bog that starts seven pm. Also out at
the Valley District Fair, they held their thirty eighth annual
Grand Firefighter Parade last night and in that parade they

(16:29):
had a couple of well I wasn't there, so I
can't tell you if it was in it, but I
do know that on the fair grounds they have two
very historic fire engines, one from the nineteen twenties that
they are the sole owners of. It's been in their position,
possession and in Reidsville, I guess now for nearly one

(16:51):
hundred years. And also they have another fire engine from
the nineteen forties. So that fire engine was dedicated to
a museum in the area, and then they pulled that
out of the museum and they've got it back So
if you go down to the Valley District Fair there
in Reidsville, check out the mud Bog and you can

(17:13):
also check out some historic rolling iron I don't know
about you, but I really get a kick out of
taking a look at some of that stuff also happening.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
And this one's in Fairview. It's the Clay District Fair.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
And you know what, you can't say Clay District Fair
without saying pie. And I realized that that might not
make sense, but it is one hundred percent the truth.
We had Ethan Moore on the program earlier this week
talking about the pie Ladies and the dedication that they
put into making those pies. So the Clay District Fair

(17:54):
that's happening in Fairview on day Brook Road, and this
evening their main stage entertainment is the band Recoil. And
then they'll also recognize the tiny Miss Clayed the District Fair.
They'll crown the tiny Miss Clay District Fair. Rather, they'll
also crown little Miss Clay District Fair and also Junior

(18:19):
Miss Clay District Fair. And if you're so inclined, they
will have a mechanical bull in operation from seven pm
until ten pm. And if maybe that's a little too
much for you. You can also check out the Magician
that happens at seven point thirty in the evening, but

(18:42):
you'll want to get there early. And don't forget that
this is an eight dollars admission fair and that gets
you on all the rides, but tonight a little bit well,
very special. As a matter of fact, they'll have their
baked steak dinner. Now these are dining in or carry out.
You get a baked steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, Coleslaw,

(19:04):
rolled dessert, and a drink. All that's fourteen dollars for
all ages. And the bake steak dinner. Don't get those
started at four pm, So if you want to get
an early dinner, that'll be a great way to do that.
The Claye District Fair in Fairview on day Brook Road.
The mid Atlantic Resiliency link has been a hot topic

(19:28):
throughout the region, and coming up next, we're gonna spend
a few minutes with Delegate Chris Anders. He represents the
ninety seventh district in Berkeley County. They had a meeting
there earlier this week that was hosted by First Energy
that addressed the mid Atlantic resiliency Link, and we're going

(19:49):
to talk with Chris coming up next and get a
report from that meeting and maybe what his constituents are
saying about that.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Now back to the talk of the town.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Well, good Friday morning.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
Now, the mid Atlantic Resiliency Link is a one hundred
and five mile five hundred thousand volt high voltage line
that will originate in Greene County, Pennsylvania. It'll head south
through multiple counties here in West Virginia on the way
to Gore, Virginia, where it will ultimately power data centers

(20:37):
that are in the Frederick County, Virginia area. On the phone,
I've got the delegate representing the ninety seventh district, Berkeley
County's Chris Anders. Chris, pleasure to make your acquaintance, and
welcome to the program.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
How are you.

Speaker 5 (20:53):
I'm wonderful this morning. How are you this morning?

Speaker 3 (20:55):
Hey, I'm doing good. Thank you very much, Chris. Earlier
this week I ended a meeting that was held by
First Energy regarding the mid Atlantic Resiliency Link.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
I guess set the stage for us.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
How many people were there and what was the tone
of the attendees.

Speaker 5 (21:14):
Well, first of all, this whole situation reminds me of
an old country song, except it's a little bit different.
This time, where Virginia gets the gold mine, in West
Virginia gets the shaft. This moral transmission line is nothing
more than the twenty first century land clerk. And you know,
we had a meeting with First Energy or they had

(21:37):
an open house at Shepherd University on Wednesday evening and
I had put out an email encouraging people to show
up to oppose this, you know, essential corporate misuse of
imminent domain for a private profit, and we had about
one hundred people show up. I spent most of the

(21:58):
time outside talking people explain the actions they can take
to stop this land grab where West Virginia gets holding
the bag and even if your property doesn't get taken,
you still end up with over four hundred and forty
million dollars in costs for the project being put on
our race. And not one single person that showed up,

(22:19):
not one that showed up at this open house supported
this effort. Everybody showed up and opposed it. They were
very angry that West Virginia is being treated sort of
like the District twelve and the Hunger Games, supplying things
for Northern Virginia and we get nothing in returned except

(22:41):
for our land taken, our electric grades going up. This
must stop.

Speaker 3 (22:47):
Chris Andrews is with us, a delegate from Berkeley County. Now, Chris,
I got to ask you. They've mentioned mone Preston, Mineral Hampshire.
I believe those are the counties, possibly Jefferson. Berkeley's not
in the life. Why are you concerned?

Speaker 5 (23:03):
Well, first of all, I represent both Berkeley and Jefferson Counties.
Even if you know, none of my constituents property is taken,
they're still end up with their electric bills being jacked
up to fund this project for Virginia's benefit. You see,
Virginia's gone all new green pipe dream. They have declared

(23:23):
they will no longer generate power through coal or natural gas.
They're totally bought into the insanity of windmills and the
solar compounds and everything else. But they want to keep
their data centers, they want to keep the tax revenue
flowing into the state. So they look west and they said, hey,
West Virginia has real power. West Virginia has, you know,

(23:47):
with the actually export power. So let's just go over
there and run a large extension corps through the state
and take their power so we can continue to collect
this this big pile of taxes, so we can continue
our spending ways, you know, in the end, taking land

(24:08):
from West Virginians to give you know, left wing billionaires
and another state this power is just straight up in
moral It's unconstitutional, and it's an American. This is about sovereignty.
Do we control our own energy and our own land
or do you corporate lobbyist Enrichmond in DC. Because if

(24:30):
they can do this for electricity, they can do it
for anything. This is the landline in the sand for
property rights.

Speaker 3 (24:36):
You know, Chris, I want to ask you because it
comes down more and more when when you boil this
thing down, that the PSC is really going to play
the pivotal role, and you know, lawmakers like you will
have no more than maybe just to be able to
endorse or not indorse.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Do I have that part right?

Speaker 5 (24:59):
That is sand correct? We have yet another unelected board
in West Virginia. Just like the state school board which
is appointed, we have the PSC which is appointed. I'm
ruling by FIAT. They will make a decision whether or
not people lose their property, whether or not their economic
liberty is compromised by having to pay for increased electric

(25:23):
rates for billionaires in Virginia. So I'm encouraging everyone to
contact the PSC. If you are personally affected by this,
you can file against the project. But I'm just being
as loud as I possibly can and shining as large
a spotlight on this issue as possible, because you know,

(25:48):
in the end, this is about property rights. This is
about you know, we founded our republic based upon life, liberty,
and property. And if a corporation can use force of
the state, which is essentially men with guns, to take
away your property so somebody else can profit, there's no
liberty left.

Speaker 3 (26:10):
Chris Andrews, delegate from Berkeley County. Now, Chris, there will
be a special session coming up. Is that maybe an
opportunity for you to huddle with other delegates in other
parts of the state that may not be as keenly
aware of this as we are. Get them in the
little mix.

Speaker 5 (26:31):
Absolutely, you know, as I've been watching this, it does
build up to this project. There are a lot of
state delegates that are opposing it, and state senators like
Chris Rose. We have Mangehilia County coming out against the
the County Commission. There as well as a Jefferson County

(26:53):
commission and more and more need to get involved. But again,
first of all, I don't know exactly when the special
session is going to be, and I doubt it we'll
be addressing anything regarding this. But in the end, we
need to get as many of our principled politicians on

(27:15):
board to fight against this. This will be a real
litmus test to see who actually stands up and says
no and stands with the people, and who is very quiet,
doesn't say a word, just waiting for their campaign callers
to be feeled by lobbyists from these large data centers.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
Well, Chris will certainly continue to watch the situation. We
leave the door.

Speaker 3 (27:39):
Open for you to come back at any time to
give us an update from your neck of the woods.

Speaker 2 (27:45):
And we appreciate you coming on today.

Speaker 5 (27:48):
Absolutely, it's pleasure being here. I'm glad to come on
at any time.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
Okay, you take care.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Chris Anders, delegate representing Berkeley County, that is District ninety seven,
certainly do appreciate his time. Right now, as you and
I have this conversation. Just Jamie from VAQ, well, she's
camping over at the Kendrick Family ballpark. It's camping for knines.
We're raising dollars for dogs. We're gonna catch up with

West Virginia Outdoors is the Mountain states only hook and
bullet radio show dedicated to the more than quarter million
hunters and anglers across the state. Award winning host Chris
Lawrence has been tracking down hunting and fishing stories for
more than twenty five years.

Speaker 8 (30:36):
I'll go out on a limb because people won't like
my answer. Probably. I think there's fewer coyotes than most
people imagine. Really because when number one, when you hear
a family group of them this time of year, the
pups are very vocal. The coyotes are getting They've been
kind of shut mouthed during the spring when they're young,
and it's like a bunch of teenagers. When they get

(30:57):
to September, mom, dad can't keep their mouths shut anymore.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Whether it's hunting and fishing news or just compelling stories
about the enjoyment of the great outdoors. West Virginia Outdoors

you name it. If it's got anything to do with
the Golden Blue, we're on it.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
And don't forget the text line available every night.

Speaker 7 (31:43):
So we invite you to join us. The Senator coach
Hunter and me Tony Coritti. It's the city Net state
wide sports line.

Please don't text and drive. We're talking about your town.

(32:34):
Now back to the talk of the town.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
Well, good Friday morning, fair and seventy degrees.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
It is good camping for weather, and thank goodness because
wv q's just Jamie. She's in a bass pro tent
camping at the Kendrick Family Ballpark. It is camping for knines,
trying to raise a couple of dollars for.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
A few good dogs. Jamie, good morning. How are you?

Speaker 10 (32:59):
Good morning? Doing well more than a couple of dollars. Man,
This goal feels quite far away, but we're going to
hit it. I'm confident.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
Okay, where are we at? I think the goal is
fifteen thousand dollars? Where are you at?

Speaker 10 (33:12):
So the goal is fifteen thousand dollars and I'm not
leaving until we hit it. So it's going to be
a long weekend unless I get a little bit more help.
Read almost six thousand dollars. We're working our way over there.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
Okay, good deal.

Speaker 3 (33:23):
Now let's see the question I've got for you though,
is last night was barking the park?

Speaker 2 (33:28):
Right?

Speaker 4 (33:29):
Uh huh?

Speaker 3 (33:29):
Okay, So you've got all that excitement going and then
when everybody's leaving, don't you kind of at some point
feel like, hey, you forget me.

Speaker 10 (33:40):
Well, you know, we did kind of ambush people with
adoptable puppies from Animal Friends in north central West Virginia
that we had on site. That's kind of how we
reel them in. Hey, look at these cute puppies. By
the way, I'd rather not be out here all weekend.
I think you could venmo me a couple of dollars
so I could go home and we can help out
these adoptable pets. And they're a new facility that they're
building out on Graft Road. So we were able to

(34:01):
get some donations from really generous folks.

Speaker 3 (34:04):
Okay, good deal. Now tell us how can folks then donate?
You brought up Venmo? What other ways?

Speaker 10 (34:11):
PayPal as well? Now in Venmo it's at AFNCWV as
an Animal Friends north Central West Virginia. On PayPal, it's
at Animal Friends nc WV. And one hundred percent of
the proceeds that I am making are going directly towards
Animal Friends. So every dollar counts five dollars, ten dollars,

(34:32):
whatever anyone can give really appreciated, and our friends at
Huntington Bank made a big donation, so we're grateful to
them as well.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
That's good.

Speaker 3 (34:40):
Now, let's see help us understand that they're in the
Kendree Kendrick Family Ballpark complex.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Where are you located.

Speaker 10 (34:49):
I'm right in front of Gate A, so basically that
main box office here where you would come and get
your tickets. That's where I've been, so where I've been
all night in fact, so yeah, I stayed the night here,
and that's kind of the most common question that people ask.
Did you really spend the night? Oh yeah, and I'm
gonna spend the night until I raise every dollar of
that fifteen thousand.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
Okay, good deal.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
Now folks can stop by, I'm sure and maybe throw
a dollar or two atches.

Speaker 10 (35:12):
Well, yes, yes, we sure appreciate. We have somebody coming
and cleaning out the cash box every so often.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
Okay, good Now, I'm sure you probably have some good
views up there.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
Sunset, sunrises, oh just beautiful.

Speaker 10 (35:25):
It was a little hazy this morning, so everything in
the campsite it was very damp when I woke up.
But you really can't beat that view out here in Grandall.
It's just beautiful.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
Okay, good deal, Just Jamie from WVAQ camping for canines
up at Kendrick Family Ballpark. And you know what, I
can't really tell you when she'll be done. That's up
to you, the listeners.

Speaker 10 (35:49):
Yeah, that's right. Every dollar makes a difference, truly, so
big thanks. The community has been very generous, but we're
looking for a little bit more. So you can always
come visit me. I'm here.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
The last thing that I wanted you to address was
the family What is the Family Friends of North Central
West Virginia.

Speaker 10 (36:07):
Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia. Yeah, they've been
around for quite a while. They're building a new facility
because they are a no kill shelter, so they are
oftentimes going to other shelters at the last minute for
dogs and cats and taking them out of there and
getting them adopted. But all the money, really, you know
that they need throughout the years for cleaning supplies and

(36:29):
food and veterinary care. That's a huge one. But this
money's this fifteen thousand dollars specifically is going to the
expansion of their facility, which is desperately needed.

Speaker 3 (36:39):
The Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia. Jamie, I
promise I will never get that wrong again.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
You got it?

Speaker 2 (36:47):
Okay, all right.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
Well, Jamie, good luck and keep us posted and will
continue to carry your torch throughout the day today in
the newsroom.

Speaker 10 (36:57):
Thanks so much. I really appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Alte.

Speaker 3 (37:00):
You take care of yourself, Jamie, and I guess stay dry,
but I'm telling you it is good camping weather today,
sunny and I have eighty eight tonight night mostly clear,
down to sixty eight for the low. Then Saturday looks
like a pretty nice day. There's just a chance of
showers twenty percent between two and five pm with a

(37:22):
high temperature of eighty eight degrees. And Saturday evening we
know you're gonna come through for her. By then it'll
be mostly clear and a low of sixty eight degrees.
So certainly great camping weather and great weather for you
to get out and make a donation or maybe Venmo, PayPal,
do something of that nature. Now, one thing I did

(37:44):
want to mention is the at home version of Talk
of the Town. You've got it and probably just don't
know it. You just need to go to WAJR dot
com and go down to the podcast section. When you
get there, you'll find Talk of the Town. What you
can do. From there, you can go back and take
a listen to maybe an episode or something that we've

(38:07):
talked about, like, for example, the conversation with the mayor. Well,
you can go out to WAJR dot com, click on
the at home version of Talk of the Town, which
i e.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
The podcast section.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
And you can go right to that interview and relive
those questions and the comments and you can get involved
and maybe find out why people are texting about things
in order to find out more, be sure and check
that out. Coming back, we will wrap up the program,
hand things off the Metro News talk line and Dave

(38:43):
and TJ right now, Farisky, seventy degrees in the University City.
This is Talk of the Town on AM fourteen forty
FM one oh four point five WAJR.

Speaker 1 (39:09):
Join the conversation at one eight hundred and seven to
sixty five eight two five five. This is the Talk
of the Town.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
Well, good Friday morning.

Speaker 3 (39:16):
Earlier this week we welcome the chairman of the Republican
Executive Committee here in Montagelia County. We were talking about
the fifteenth annual Reagan Dinner. It's coming up October sixteenth
out at the Lakeview. Now they've got Joey Jones, Fox
News contributor and author, a former United States marine certainly

(39:40):
was mortally wounded in Afghanistan, lost both legs. He's also
a motivational speaker. He'll be their keynote speaker at that
event and tickets are on sale right now at montcountygp
dot com. Coming up on Monday, will welcome the chair

(40:01):
of the Democrat Executive Committee here in Montaguelia County.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
Cal Carlson. Will welcome Cal to.

Speaker 3 (40:08):
The program coming up on Monday and find out what's
going on with the Republican Party here in the county.
Now we learned went over to the Ericson Alumni Center
for the statewide Republican Committee when they selected Josh Holstein
as their chairman. And one of the hot topics there

(40:30):
was the fact that Mont County, the Republicans in mont
County have now pulled within eight hundred or so voter
registrations in being able to be the dominant party in
the county after many years of Democrat dominance. So we'll
talk to Cal and maybe learn a little bit more
about their strategies and I guess what they're doing in

(40:52):
order to push.

Speaker 2 (40:53):
Back on that.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
Don't forget about just Jamie now from WVQ. She is
camping at the Kendrick Family Ballpark. We're getting to fifteen
thousand dollars and Jamie's not coming in until we get
to fifteen thousand dollars, So if you can stop by
see her, maybe take her something to eat, but by

(41:16):
all means, drop off a dollar or two to help
out the Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia. It's
a no kill shelter building a new facility and they
would certainly love to have your help. And if you're
considering adopting a dog or a cat, might want to
talk to them. They can help you out. Everybody, make

(41:38):
it a great Friday and have a good weekend. We'll
be back Monday. It's time for Metro News talk Line
on the Voice of Morgantown.
