Speaker 1 (00:00):
The UFO season, and well, our trip is officially over,
but the fun doesn't end, as we've got plenty more
to talk as the off season officially commences and another
football season is catching our attention. This is episode one
oh eight of the UFL Podcast and it starts right
now long till three. Welcome back, everybody to the UFL Podcast.
(00:43):
I am Zach Common hosting this post championship episode of
the show, and man, you know, the season's over. The
trip of a lifetime, the greatest adventure we've ever had,
is officially concluded, but does not mean that the party stops.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
It's the off season.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
There's plenty of things on the that we're gonna be
talking about in the coming months, and we have some
more football to talk about. Football doesn't stop people, It
goes all year round, and football has an off season
cording to UFL T shirt, but that's correct, and we're
gonna talk about that today. We've got plenty on the
docket and I got plenty to discuss with my partner
on the opposite side of me and my road trip buddy,
(01:21):
the ref himself. How are you doing now that we
are back to reality as I call it, the norm
rather than our fun excursion.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
I hate it. I hate it so much. I could
just not go back to real world life. It would
be amazing. But you know what you gotta do, what
you gotta do. We're all in the same position. I
will say this. You know, it's I think we picked
the better route to record because the route we took home, boy,
(01:52):
there was not a whole lot to look at or
stop at or anything we did see. The only thing
that may have been worth any value on that on
that ride back was a mopad on a seventy five
mile an hour road, not going seventy five miles an hour,
by the way, in pitch black on a road with
(02:14):
no lights. He sure is lucky it was us that
well didn't run into him, Rather because I got a
feeling those are the roads where people might be, you know,
tipping one back and doing whatever they need to do.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
But those Texas side roads are a different beast at night.
And honestly, if there wasn't any chance we had done
a mini like follow up on the way back, we
would have just talked endlessly about, oh boy, we are
just on a on an excursion through through nowhere.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Wait, look at that field Zach, that's a good field.
Speaker 1 (02:53):
Hey, look at that abandoned Arkansas town. Oh is that
a new one? Wait, that's another one. Are we in
the same sit No, this is okay, we're just still
This is just Arkansas. Okay, that's fine though we might
stop there someday. But everywhere else was a boy that
was fun. It's like my my coworkers have been from
Arkansas told me Arkansas is an interesting place, and I'm
(03:16):
just gonna leave it at that.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
Yep, yep, yep. And it was a shame. We went
to the come and go and they didn't even have
T shirts. We saw them Maverick Maverick hiders. It's it's
coming and it's going real quick. Shame. Yeah, that's a
good point.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Oh.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
You know. The other thing that was interesting the damn
Chinese restaurant that was made out of the rallies that
was somehow in better condition than any other Rallies building
I've ever seen. Like they had the chrome still on
the top like most rallies you see. It looks like
that gum has been on the wall for thirty years.
This place was like a macula. It just so happened
(03:54):
to be a Chinese food restaurant only in Arkansas, Only
in Arkansas.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Good fishing here though, Yeah, Arkansas is fun. Uh, I
don't know beyond beyond that. You know, we made back, Okay,
I had to. You know, we had a t on Monday,
kind of sat down and kind of processed the the
whole thing, so to speak, including the white castle that
we have on the way back too. And you know
(04:24):
I have I haven't gotten hit as hard as I
think some of my other Panthers brethren about the game,
but you know, it still hurts that we just we
just had no answer. There's there was absolutely no answer.
And the Defenders were kind of they were kind of
the team of destiny as I was hoping Michigan would be,
you know, or as I think some other colleagues have
(04:46):
said in our space. You know, the underdog story that
just found a way and you know, storybook ending. I
guess you can't can't write a different ending when you
got a good story behind you already. So I just
take my lumps and I next year we can reload.
It's the best way I can put it.
Speaker 2 (05:03):
Yeah, you know I have a different take on it, Zach.
You know, I grew up beating broken down, battered, sludged
through the snow, thrown in some gravel, punched in the face,
kicked in the knees, just laughed at, spit at everything
bad all at once. You've been abused. You know why.
You know why? Because I lived in Michigan. That damn
place is cursed. The Michigan curse came out again. And
(05:25):
it's just like this little rain cloud and it follows
you around. It's like, Oh, you got a football team,
do you be a shame if you got blown out
in the championship? Yeah, no, Detroit, nothing for you, no
fun for you, Detroit, little rain on your parade. They
just couldn't do anything. And yeah, maybe I should have
(05:46):
seen it coming a little bit. Everybody likes a good
underdog story. I talk about it. You know, it's so
easy hindsight looking back. You know, from day one, the
Defenders came in and kind of proved everybody wrong. They
beat the Stallion, the back to back to back championship
champions to start out the season, and from then on
(06:06):
they seemed to not earn everybody's respect. Well, I think
they got it now. I was maybe a week late
to the process here, but you know what, they just
decimated the Panthers, and honestly, I don't think there's anything
the Panthers could have done different because that damn Michigan curse,
that flipping, low down, dirty, ugly, stinky, sneezy Michigan curse
(06:32):
came and just did what it did best and ruined
all of our days except for those Defenders fans, which
there was many in the crowd and they were having fun,
and me just watching that it helped me not feel
as bad at the game when I saw I didn't
get a chance to meet him, unfortunately at the game.
But when I saw the Lemon guy, we saw him.
(06:53):
They were kind of like kitty corner to where we
were sitting. But when we saw that whole group celebrating,
the guys that we always see in the beer snake
section celebrating, say well, it's kind of hard to be
mad at that, So sign them up. Congratulations. I mean,
the Defenders definitely earned it. We had over fifty collective
points at halftime, and although Michigan could have came back,
(07:16):
and there was even I'm not even that guy, I'm
not even you know whatever, but they did still have
a chance in the fourth quarter until they didn't anymore.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
Definitely made him sweat with with the fourth and twelve conversions,
but just no stops. I mean, that's the thing. You know,
DC got an interception, they got a punt out of
the deal as well, and we're able to just kind
of get one or two stops and kind of swing
things the right way to where momentum is never a
Michigan side, and you know, a banged up defense like
(07:49):
that that can't get pressure, you're gonna get kind of
beat battered and bruised in all angles. And then that's
just kind of happened. And Jordan's aam of course, having
his best performance he's ever had, by far the best
perform Rmans we have ever seen from him any way,
And you know, I think it just kind of was
that asterisk on saying like what he mentioned postgame, you know,
(08:10):
I just was going or God was wanting me to
go for different hardware, was essentially what he was trying
to say. And he got the MVP nod, he got
a trophy, he's gonna get hopefully a ring, because I know,
I understand the twenty four Stallings did not get rings.
So I'm hoping one of these teams does because they should.
But at least they got that nod with them that
they could take back. Great win whatsoever. I'll tell you
(08:34):
what else though, great tweet I had seen and I'm
lost and who put it out now? But someone put
man Detroit Residence, mostly pissed at the DMV this year
and just thinking the last three sixty five. We're not
talking just this game. Let's not forget. We're talking the
semi finals. Right after the wild card, Detroit looking like
(08:56):
the Prodigal Song can't get it done against the Washington
or the Washing Commanders. I about say the other name,
but you know what.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
I mean, it just kind of continues that I know
what you mean, Zachi boy, I know all too well.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
It's just you know, it's it's like when I say
San Diego Chargers.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Still I'm just used to one name.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
I just have to catch myself when I'm about to
say the other one a little more.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
You know what, They got a new name next year,
the Dead Skins, because they're not gonna we are getting
We're done with them. We're hunting them down there. You
think you're gonna come and play a game this season?
I don't think so. Goff he's got more than one skill.
I'll tell you that much, and we won't elaborate on
what that other skill is, but it's deadly.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Yeah, you think a fun fun fact with this one.
And it was already mentioned that we're talking that the
this game was the highest scoring in modern spring football history,
(09:58):
the one that still stands out that is really the
one that I think most people can think about. Oh wait, actually,
I take that back. I thought that there was more
points to this one. I was gonna I was gonna
reference the greatest game nobody ever saw. But the reason
why I thought I was higher scoring. The yards are insane,
but the comeback was different, and Jim Kelly and Steve
Young were going nuts over that. I'm gonna have a
(10:20):
double check if this maybe is the most modern of it.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
I think it might be. I think, I mean, well,
how many how many points were in that AF one
game earlier this year that went? Well?
Speaker 1 (10:33):
I see now with that, that's that's a little different
because I I look at it as it's fifty yards.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
Oh, it's different, Zach is different. It's different. Is that
what you're telling me? Oh, it's almost like the last
team to win a championship in the city of Detroit
was the Michigan Panthers in nineteen eighty three. I rest
my case not.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Football, it's oh, you're cracking me.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
Up, Case rested. It only took I don't know how
many weeks that argument's been going on, because it's been
actually years, because that he's been in my comments in
YouTube for saying that years ago, case rested. I adjourn
the ref judge. Have you nice anyway? Anyway? We what
(11:21):
do we want to talk about? We what do we
want to talk about? Zachi Boy? Actually one other thing.
If you guys haven't watched Summerstock yet, it's one hundred
percent worth it. There's really actually a very small segment
where we talk about our our our one hundred percent
inaccurate picks. But that's one little tiny segment of the
(11:43):
whole journey. And I don't know if you noticed this,
Zach and not that it's gonna work or will work
or maybe I don't know. Hopefully please will it work
you too? Algorithm? That would be sweet. I changed the
name of the video to just we draw drove one
thousand miles over one thousand miles to the UFO Championship. Uh,
maybe that'll interest somebody outside the football world of checking
(12:04):
it out. But if you didn't watch it because you're like, oh,
the game's over, you should still watch it. It's a
three hour epic journey. There's very there's a there's humorous
segments in there for that we didn't plan on. I'll
just leave it at that. I have the paper. I
still haven't mailed this crap out tech. It's sitting right
(12:27):
here reminding me that I need to do it. But
we will get there. And if you want to find
out what that pile of crap that I need to
mail out is, tune in to Summer Stock for the
road to the UFL Championship. It's I mean, Route sixty
six is there. There's Onion Burgers, there's white castles, there's
gas station competitors, the arch a hotel review, more things
(12:54):
than that. I don't even remember a soda review we
stuck in the soda review or two in that bad
actually a beer review. We have all sorts of things
in there, So make sure you check it out. And
if you want to get real crazy, and I know
you do, you're already thinking about it. You're like, I
don't even know what he's gonna say, but I'm feeling crazy,
(13:15):
You're gonna go down below there's a link to a shirt,
a summer stock shirt, and once they actually deliver Zach
and Mines, I'll show you what it looks like, but
the wake on it. If you click the link, you'll
see it. You'll say, wow, that's a beautiful shirt. I
need that on my body me too. So soon we'll
(13:35):
have them, hopefully, I don't know, but when we do,
we'll share you what it looks like in shirt form.
But if you click on the link, you'll see what
it looks like in link form, and then you can
pay with it, buy it, and wear it. And you
could well watch it first because I don't know how
long it's gonna take, but you could wear it when
you watch it again. You should watch it like three
or four times. It's over three hours long. Yeah, it's
(13:57):
a big one.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
I'm actually heavily considering making just because we had to
kind of get it out. I'm debating on doing either
Director's extended dad More b Roll, or we do it
episodic day by day and we do it extended for
the day. So if you feel like you want that,
let us know, because there is there's stuff that was
left on the cutting four because we had to kind
(14:19):
of get it out. But we have do I have
tons of clips that are sitting and could be used
and that we could filter in. So, uh, let us know,
we might just do it ourselves. So just keep that
in mind. We may do like director's cut editions of
this or something like that, and uh maybe tune it
up a little. But we appreciate the feedback so far.
It's been good response. People have really been enjoying this.
(14:40):
And I'm pretty a smile to my face man, because
like we we were we took a really bit. We
took a gamble with this project. We weren't sure if
we were gonna pull this off well and didn't. Yeah,
it did a great job.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
We work. There was there was a moment there, Zach,
I was.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Like that cop car it was actually another pull Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:02):
Oh my goodness. Well, I'm telling you when I when
I sent you off to go to the pizza place,
there was half of my brain I was like, this
might not work. I don't know what we're gonna do.
I don't know what we're gonna fucking do. It worked,
It worked, and you know what this I'm glad we said,
who knows it might go out at midnight. It ended
up just that it just happened it finally. It's not
(15:23):
like I planned it. I was like, just go live
when it goes live, and it it happened at midnight,
I was like, oh my god, it's almost like we
planned it a little bit. But I'm like sweating and
dying over there. I'm like, it worked, guys, well jeez,
I'll be honest. There was even a moment where I
thought the end got like clipped off, and I didn't
want to say anything, but I went back and checked
(15:46):
and it worked. I'm like, all right, well, another thing
that's there. Thank god. That was gold.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
I wish I would have caught that on camera actually,
but maybe not.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
There were things said to certain computers and software's fun,
fun stuff, but it got done. We'll talk though, if
you if you feel like you want an extended Cutius again,
there's some cool things we left off, so let's know
the comments. Also, by the way, subscribe this channel.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
If you're new.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
Welcome aboard. We have plenty for you to check out
or to catch up on and click the bell below
builds morale not only.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
For you, but for us too.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Got a whole crew PFN guys, you're helping support as
well with that, so please welcome along for the ride.
If you're joining us just after season, or maybe if
you're curious about the UFL after the season has been done,
well you just come on and stride. Any other thoughts
on the game, I mean, look, I've kind of dug
into this a little bit more, and it was just
your classic ass whipping, as simple as that. I mean,
(16:47):
just no no defense, you know, and I know that
a few of my colleagues I agree that, yes there
was you know, Michigan did find some ways to score,
but again just not enough. You know, DC had a
lot bit of a pass rush. They definitely made things
more flustered for Michigan. You know, on the other side,
just couldn't figure things out and couldn't get a stop
(17:08):
to slow down Tyamu or any one of the like.
You know, six six long pass passed me to twenty
five plus or more, and there's probably a few didn't
eve account for, but six receivers of twenty five plus
and more is nuts for any football game. You're not
gonna stop many teams that way. That's it.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
No, no, and yeah, you know, at least we you know,
it's funny everybody before the game they said, I just
hope it's not a shutout. Well, we didn't get a shutout.
We at least didn't get that much. We did get
a little bit of a spanking, but we didn't get
a shutout. There was still excitement late in the game.
There's I mean, there's still a decent amount of people
(17:47):
late in the game considering the fact of what the
score was. And to those people, sign you up, sign
you up for sticking around, either for your team or
for the game, the love of football, whatever it may be.
But I did put this out on X the other day,
and I don't think it is. Is it too early
to speculate that my Houston Roughnecks, my rowdy of Houston
(18:10):
Roughnecks are gonna go twelve and oh next year. I
don't think it is. I think it's the real question
is if it's even speculation.
Speaker 1 (18:19):
Twelve it still is. But you're gonna do your thing.
I can't stop you. You've always known whatever you want.
Speaker 2 (18:26):
So just like my team's gonna do next year, when
we go twelve and h rough them up, baby Drew
all day and nights.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
All right, Well, it is off season now, which means
that we get to analyze other various things about the league,
including players that are gonna get their NOD and their
chance to go up to the NFL and make their mark.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
And see if they can stick.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
And so far, within the short turnaround we've had, we
are currently sitting at seven and potentially eight we'll get
to that in a moment that have been signed on
to NFL contracts and are moving up at least getting
into the training camp season with those teams, and we'll
we'll have our thoughts for a few of them. We'll
list off the ones as follows. So the seven that
(19:15):
are that we for sure know where they're going, that's
where I'll kind of label this are Deshaun Corman, Harrison Mavis,
the thicker kicker as you know. Corman, by the way,
leading rusher in the league this year, he went to Atlanta,
Mavis went to the Jets. Mario Goodrich of the Stallions.
He's over and head to Denver to play for the
Broncos at least in training camp and hopefully for a
longer time. Titans Seth Green signed from the Arlington Renegades.
(19:38):
He's going to New Orleans Saints. Barry Wesley from the Stallions,
He's heading over to the Saints as well, So he
got a double one right now. That might not be
the last. Of course, Texans are signing Damon Arnett from
the Houston Roughnecks, and yeah, I mean that's been a
story in itself. So he's been fighting his way back.
He's getting another shot back in the NFL. He's are
getting looks good for the rev to seat one of
(20:00):
his own fellow guys making it and then Imperian Winfley Winfrey.
Why that was so hard to say. I'm sorry if
you're listening, Varian, but he from the Stallies. He's had
to the Dallas Cowboys to go and play at Jerry
World right now.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
And the final one.
Speaker 1 (20:16):
So the league listed off sal Canela on the PR list,
saying that it was termination signed with NFL contract. So
Canela is, by what we can tell from their designation signed.
There's been no news that I can find or that
the ref can find yet, or that James has reported
on our own James Larsen which team he's with. There's
some people speculating he went back to the Packers. We're
(20:38):
not sure, but according to at least how we understand
the pr list is he's also supposedly on a team.
He would be the eighth member of the current roster
of players that's made that jump with a contract.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Still haven't seen it.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
Also, by the way, on the NFL's contract list on
their signings and waiver tabs, So once that goes through,
we'll know officially where he went as well. But thefl's
claiming he is already heading his way to the NFL
at least.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Yep yep, yep so and honestly, probably by the time
that this episode drops that news will come out. But hey,
he's signed somewhere. I do like to see the Roughnecks
getting a signing right off the bat. I do like
to see him go with the Texans. One thing I'll
call out here the Cowboys again with their yearly early
pickup from spring football. We've seen it time and time
(21:25):
again with the USFL and then the UFL. Usually they're
the first team to pick one up, so they're slacking
a little bit this year, but they're still amongst the
early birds. Uh getting getting there. They're picking the litter here,
and this is really just the beginning of what we're
probably going to see a good rapid fire of over
(21:46):
the next couple of weeks. This guy's getting an opportunity
as we had closer. And this sounds crazy to the
preseason Zach. It's it's sounds like it's a crazy thought,
but it's actually just really right around the corner. These
teams are kind of gearing up, getting ready for that
even already to a certain extent. Uh. And so these
(22:06):
players are kind of getting their shot right now. And
so I think we're gonna just see more and more
and more of these guys as we as we head
towards this. But I love to see the I love
to see these uh, these guys get the shot. Thicker
kicker in the NFL sign them up. I'm actually surprised though,
that Rodrigo wasn't the first one to go blanket ship
(22:28):
down in Saint Louis. I kind of expected me to
be the first kicker picked up, But I ain't mad
at at Harrison over there set him up.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
And I think some of it will. Keep in mind,
you know, there's a lot of aspects in signing to you.
It's also many of the of the things in the
NFL is kind of who you know sometimes. And also
keep in mind, you know, while Maybs, maybe's in Rodrigo
were really close, I'm not one hundred percent on if
it's a leg strength thing too, because remember Rodrigo, you know,
(22:58):
one of the one of them not marks on him
coming out of the from the NFL coming into this,
and what he's still looking for is better leg strength.
So you know, I'm not sure about one hundred percent
of Mavis. But maybe that was also another factor two,
because you do, like you notice the NFL these past
few years, the distances have grown astronomically on a more
regular basis of plus fifty and even plus sixty kicks,
(23:21):
So they're so important to be able to hit from
those high fifty low sixty ranges. Now that maybe that's
another thing, but I think personally, just as a guy
who has a kicker that was that is known not
as much a distance guy in Cairo Santos on the Bears,
I think he's gonna get a look. I do believe that.
You know, we usually see about two sometimes three kickers
(23:43):
in these leagues get picked up in off season. Doesn't
mean they'll stick, but they'll least get looks. So don't
count out Rodrigo just yet.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
It's still really early.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
So yeah, like by the end of June, I mean,
I'm almost predicting what will be pushing like thirty or
so signings, if I had to take it, maybe even more.
I know last year's cycle if I remember reading from
Mike Mitchell saying eighty was the total. So we're we're
hopefully in for some pretty significant numbers. So we're we're
just beginning this whole game of offseason signing and flipping
(24:14):
round rosters and whatnot, because just how it is, team's
got to get ready in the NFL, you know, you
want the best depth you can possibly get too, so
that's what we're looking for primarily, but special teams guys
will be a premium. You know, We've been seeing that
every year. We're looking for that next guy that's going
to make that jump.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Absolutely absolutely, So this is just the beginning, the beginning.
I'm sure as we have more episodes, this list is
going to grow and grow. The names we'll say, oh
my god, what are these teams going to do without
these guys? But then also around the corner, Zach. Is
that collegiate draft happening in July. Yes, So as the
(24:51):
league is losing players to the NFL, they're going to start,
you know, potentially picking up the next prospects, either for
next year, potentially years beyond that, depending on you know,
The collegiate drafts a little bit different than your your
your normal every day draft. You're number one pick. He
might not end up in the league, or he might
or he might, right, And that's kind of the the beauty.
(25:13):
It's an extra little gamble on this. You can go,
you can shoot real high, or you can see I mean,
there's there's a lot of different strategies to the collegiate
draft in the UFL.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
So something to look forward right from them wrong. We
also should be seeing this offseason some very some possible
fascinating changes in free agency.
Speaker 2 (25:32):
With yes yes, yes signed and restrict basically restricted.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Unrestricted free agents could play a massive factor with these gms.
Even with the with the copy of the contracts are
last year signings versus two year ago signings. Apparently we're
still getting a few more of the details hammered out,
but apparently that could be playing a big role into
changes that some of these rosters might take as well,
(25:58):
along with new coaching staffs. We're still gonna be waiting
for and we probably won't see it until later in
the summer anyway.
Speaker 2 (26:04):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, So a lot of things to look
forward to in this UFL offseason. The one thing that
seems to be consistent is all the executives say, if
you're worried about a season three, you shouldn't be. We're
here here for the long haul. We're ready to play,
We're ready to go. And even as we talked about before,
you know Venue the sports app, that may be gone,
but Fox is working on something new. They're going to
(26:27):
have something ready. It sounds like for NFL season, correct,
which if you all know the NFL season, I guess
it's technically after the UFL season, But in the instance
of where we are now, it's before the next UFL season,
which means we're gonna have that app ready for the UFL.
I can only hope, I can only pray, I can
only say, please, please, please, please, please make my wishes
(26:48):
come true. Is that this app has all the UFL
games on it. But I wouldn't I wouldn't be surprised
if the ESPN games are not on this app, at
least for live and maybe not on demand until the
season's over or wherever, who knows.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Yeah, that's something I found interesting with this league. So, yes,
it is owned primarily by Fox, and I know Disney
has some interest in it from what we can tell.
But the rights of the league I've always been curious about,
because yes, they do keep them separate for the network,
but it's like at some point sports leagues try and
(27:27):
keep and get those rights more in house and kind
of get them on their own. I mean, even I
think about it this way, like, so Fox owns the
Big Ten network, and if you watch the Big Ten
Network every time you watch it, there are games from
any network on it. We're talking past ESPN games, NBC games,
and CBS games from just last year, Like those logos
(27:50):
are on there. And sure it's not Fox in name,
but Fox owns the sixties like two thirds of the network,
So you think that you would think that at some
point you would have it where you know, if Fox
owns fifty, Like, I'm kind of surprised they can't get those.
It has to be a deal, but I'm kind of
shocked myself they can't get their own rights in house.
(28:11):
Because to me, if I was a fan of this league,
and if I was trying to say, you know, enhance
my app that I own or that I'm helping run,
wouldn't it be wise to try and get as much
media in one place if you're wanting to watch or
maybe have something to get someone caught up on.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
I mean, that's I think.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
That's a discussion hasn't really talked about much. But like
you know, we've talked about how like United by football
doesn't exist anymore unless you have to like dig for it.
It's not to be where it used to be. But
like that's what I'm saying. Like even those NBC games,
I think those are kind of like they're going vanished
into the ether, Like we don't those are gone, those
are lost media, Like can't you get your own rights back?
(28:51):
Like I worry about that stuff because like you know,
we care about it. I know it's not as big,
but you know, having that fractured media and you you
should have a copyright. They do have copyrights on this.
We watch these games, you can't get it in the house.
I just think there's something I want. I don't know enough,
but I like to know about why they can't do that.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Yeah, I mean, this is my hope for this Fox
Sports app is that somehow it brings back United by Football.
You know what they want X amount of hours Zachie boy, Well,
you know what that gives them? At least what ten
hours extra? Right, it's ten ten episodes an hour each
something like that. Get those NBC games. Put all the
(29:32):
USFL games on there, because right now there's not even
the USFL games actually aren't streaming anywhere.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
That I can tell.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
I mean, you can find she copied them like a
madman like me, other than those NBC games, which please,
And if somebody, for the love of God has those
United by Football games, hit me up, hit me up.
I want them. I want them because I'm a hoarder. Yeah,
digital horder.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Shoot, if you know what the link is, comment below,
because we'd love to find a way to preserve because
I do find interesting like the USFL going under, Like
some of that stuff does get lost and just vanishes,
you know, And I don't want that. You don't want
to be gone, you know, I mean, shoot, like, uh,
I know, I was just I was talking about try
and look up scores, which by the way, I do
believe now after looking through the USFL scores that I
(30:21):
do think that championship game, it looks like was the
highest scoring spring football game of all time, because the
last one that I can check was a fifty two
thirty four affair that Michigan was involved with back in
nineteen eighty three. From what I can tell based on
that one, they did win that one, by the way.
But I'm curious.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
I have to.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Oh, don't worry, I'll get it. I'll get it. I'm
pretty sure was Houston actually, but I'm gonna, oh why
I asked, I'm gonna I now need a double check
just so I could get a good laugh and at it.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
But yeah, it looks like that is.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
But you know, I think about like the greatest game
nobody ever saw like it, which is again I mentioned
the Steve Young Jim Kelly game where it's a it's
a twenty point comeback and the gam the Gamblers beat
the LA Express. That game broadcast does not exist. They
did not air it anywhere.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
It's vanished. It's gone.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
Unless you were there, You're never going to see that game.
And that's that's a football history loss. And I know
it's not NFL history. You know, we know the Hall
of Fame. It's an NFL first and it kind of
cliff notes some other things, but that's still football history
right there. Of like you know, pro football hall of
famers that we will never see anywhere.
Speaker 2 (31:43):
It's not possible. So that's that's what I worry about.
You know, Well, that's like the Mega Bawl, all the
Mega Ball, the Spring League in general, it's just gone.
It doesn't exist. There's there's some highlight videos. That's that's
the closest you'll ever get to finding it. It's zach,
It's sad.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
I don't like it. Yeah, it's a shame. It's a shame.
And I'm glad that there's projects like the USFL project
or like even like an arena. There's Arena Football TV.
They try and find they get clips, they get old
recordings from people, and they put it on their website
on YouTube and the archive. And that's really cool because
that stuff wouldn't be possible without superfans. So you know,
I'm glad, and I will have to find speaking archive.
(32:23):
I'll have to find this because yes, the highest scoring
USFL game and what I believe is the highest scoring
spring football game of all time was Monday, March twenty sixth,
nineteen eighty four. Michigan beats Houston in Houston, fifty two
to thirty four at the Astronome. So yes, from what
I can tell, we can now put that to bed.
(32:46):
This past weekend's championship was the highest scoring spring football
game in history. No modern history tag on that in history,
so you know, pretty pretty cool stuff.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
You know what that tells me? Zach, Dude, this ref's
rivalry goes way back than I ever imagine. A while back,
I was just a little tad ref, little we ref,
one year old ref, like Mama, why what is happening
on TV? And she's like, don't look, your team's getting destroyed.
I didn't even live in Michigan at the time, and
my mom sounds like a trucker. Not in real life,
(33:21):
but when I just did. Anyway, I don't know, I
don't twere baby ref stop watching that game.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
He proceeded to watch many a football game later.
Speaker 2 (33:37):
I'm gonna do it want mama. Yep.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
That was that was my interpretation, all right, probably close Maybe,
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
It's probably a little bit more swearing in there, but yeah,
now anyway.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
One final thing we did get from this past weekend
it's I don't like talking ratings as much because, like
we said, it's kind of, you know, we just if
the season happens, we go on the ride and we
hope it improves, and we do need to bring it up.
But yeah, it did bring up some eyebrows with the
championship ratings and what happened. So ABC has been up
all year. They've been pretty much the leader in the
(34:14):
broadcasting section of getting these games high ratings as by
everything else is how it's been for this season. And
well they did sync to really its lowest since these
championship games have been happening in twenty twenty two. So
the championship for this year hit just below one million,
(34:36):
nine hundred and eighty three k on ABC, down from
last year's just under one point six million, which by comparison,
if you compare all both the leagues that combined into
the UFL, last year's was the high mark. This year
was the absolute low mark. So not a great thing
to read about. Whatsoever, they did get kind of a
(34:57):
breakdown to the markets and New Orleans and Birmingham led
Tulsa was up there as well, and a few of
the other usfl ones were Memphis and Michigan as well
for local markets. But yeah, it did compete with some
good competition on that day, so I'll mention this too.
MLB was on at the time on Fox. Stanley Couples
also on a time as well, so there were overlaps
(35:19):
in those games. Remember it was also a blowout in
the going where it was a high score kind of
not looking great for Michigan in the first half, and
then by the third quarter it was already getting into
the high forties, low fifties when we were talking the
end of the game. So yeah, not many things going
its way, so to speak. So but I also say
(35:42):
quote that the execs said the ratings don't matter for
this game, because they've also been quoted as mentioning that
they weren't concerned with the job. So where do we
go from here? Stefan, I'm curious, mean, you just keep
moving forward.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
I mean, if they say they're happy with the numbers,
then I'm happy with the numbers. In all reality. I mean,
you're still getting to a million in the modern age
of TV, which, yeah, if you're a bigger sport like
the NBA, you're gonna hit a million, easy, right, But
I look at you know, they're not the NBA, they're
not the NHL, they're not all of these other leagues,
but they're still They did hit over a million. They
(36:16):
averaged under a million.
Speaker 1 (36:18):
So yeah, it did peak over a million. So yes,
thank you for bringing for mentioning that can't go wrong
to me.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Okay, that's great. Now if you go into next year though,
and it hits like six hundred, okay, all right, and
then maybe the next year it's four hundred and then okay,
then then the downward trajectory is maybe a little bit
more concerning. But you know, to me, yet, last year's
was the highest of all highs. Why it was the
(36:44):
two leagues merging together. People wanted to see what the
culmination of that looked like. And this is really one
of the first years in spring football where is funny enough,
in the last five, six, seven years, we haven't had
a new league. It's the same league returning. We had
that with the USFL. But even with the USFL, we
(37:06):
had the XFL was a new league. And so every
year there's this high interest in the new Spring Football league,
the new Spring Football league, and that's kind of sustained
it over as you know this this this now, well,
this is the first time we're seeing one league alone.
Second year to me, peak over a million, stay averaged
(37:26):
near a million. I'd be happy with that too. Again,
if it was that three hundred thousand, four hundred thousand,
I might look at that and be a little bit concerned. Right,
That's where I'd say, oh my god, if we lost
a million year, Like if we went six hundred thousand
and lost a million average year over year, That's where
I'm as fox, like, oh my god, what how do
(37:49):
we save that ship? But this, to me, this is
I mean part for the course, and honestly, I wouldn't
be surprised if next year's averages around this or maybe
even a little bit less. But it's really all about okay,
is it going down down? And then it is a
little bit of the competition too. Uh yeah, they get
they got lucky they didn't have to go against the NBA.
(38:11):
But Stanley Cup, I mean there was a lot of
interest in that, which I'm glad to say that can
we uh we kept the Americans away from that Stanley Cup.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Never getting it again, Nana,
no boo boo eat it. Canada take that one. If
you ever want to see the Stanley Cup again, you're
(38:31):
gonna have to pay a terrif on it. How you
like that?
Speaker 1 (38:34):
As the old adage goes, America still has won a
great Cup before the Canada has won a Stanley Cup.
Funny little fun fact you could take home with you
until that changes, if it ever does. But what you're
referring to, and I think this is what we talk
about with like I hear this a lot with like
TV and like we if you ever read anything about
(38:55):
like cable news numbers as well. I know this is
not exact one to one, but hang with me. There
they talk about a floor. What's the floor? You know,
the low and you know, we even talked about this year,
you know it was last year kind of the floor.
And then we start going up moving the ceiling or
we're gonna see the rings dip again and we're gonna
be looking for the floor again. And I think that's
what we're hopefully wanting to say, is that this year
(39:17):
is the floor. Because you don't want the floor to
keep lowering. You want, at some point to find a baseline,
grow your baseline up. Last year, you had some momentum
from merging two leagues together, and you kind of robe
that first season, and then as we saw personally, we
felt mistakes were made across the board of our shows
that they could have done better getting this season ready.
(39:39):
And so now we're seeing a new floor, and I
wonder what. I wonder what the floor is. If it's
not this, I hope it's this. That's the thing, you know,
the six hundred ish k, you know, with the about
a million with a championship and like around a million
per playoff game, which actually that's the bigger surprise to
me is you know, yes it was a blowout in
(40:00):
the third quarter, but the highest rate playoff game was
actually the USFL champion Conference Championship. It wasn't like that
was the highest rated. Second rates then went to the
playoffs and then the Fox game, which you don't want
to see that. You want the championship to be your
premier ratings getter that you can sell, and then the
playoffs are kind of that second gem, and then you
(40:21):
sell across the playoffs or across the regular season. So
definitely some work to be done, you know, without a
doubt and a lot of your talk. I know it's
piling on a bunch of we say this a lot.
Definitely some work, definitely some work, but you know, got
to start somewhere. You know, we've talked solutions on ATU.
I still think, you know, and I believe you're on
this bandwagon. Either you pick a site to start with
(40:43):
during the summer or like fall, and promote the hell
out of it like an ELF, or you play at
the highest seed and you just work your ass off
to make sure every venue is available for the championship date.
Speaker 2 (40:56):
Those are your two.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
Options, really yeah, and I think these are ones the
new site can't Ohio. But you know, they got to
be able to want to make that trigger poll. That's
their call. Do they want to do that? We're gonna
find out pretty soon. But this is part of the
off season, you know, a lot of stuff going on,
you know, because people want to see upward movement soon
in the league. I think is trying to say that
(41:19):
they're okay with where they're at now, but I think
we all know they would approve if they could get
start seeing some games again.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
Be nice. So yeah, yeah, well, you know, just because
the UFL season's over, doesn't mean that the football season's over,
as the UFL will remind us when the NFL season ends,
and you you know more about this than anybody I know.
I won't say that you know more about this than anybody,
(41:49):
but you definitely know more about this than anybody I know.
And so throughout i'd say probably starting well, whenever we
started this show, every time we did like a summer
stock or maybe a spring stock, maybe both, we always
end up watching some type of arena football. Last year
we had AFL, This year we have AF one, And
(42:09):
I mean the timing actually couldn't be more perfect for
anybody out there that's kind of has that it. You
want some spring football, alternative football, whatever it may be.
Now that the UFL championship's over, we're going right into
the AF one playoffs and then the championship or Zach,
you're gonna have to explain this whole crown thing to me.
(42:30):
We're gonna go into the details. Uh. But we also
have like a fun little tie in as well as
Zaki boy Uh. Ace, you had the opportunity to sit
down with somebody that plays in the AF one that
also played in the UFL USFL as well champion if
(42:52):
I remember correctly break it down, Zaki, boy, what do
we got I do?
Speaker 1 (42:57):
And not only that, I would say one of the
leading MVP HE candidates now in af one as I
had the pleasure to sit down with former Stallions quarterback
and now Southwest Kansas Storm quarterback Jalen Morton. So we're
gonna jump in. Let's have a little chat with him
and don't go on the other side and talk a
bit about theF ON playoffs coming up this weekend and
(43:21):
the fight for the twenty twenty five Arena crown. Well,
it has been a hot minute since we have had
a guest on the UFL podcast for our player interview series,
but we finally have someone that I think all encompasses
my interests in spring football in particular. It is Jalen Morton,
quarterback of the Southwest Kansas Storm, former QB also for
the Birmingham Stallions joining us.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
Jalen, glad to have you on.
Speaker 1 (43:44):
I'll be honest, wasn't how I expected to have you on,
but you know, hey, I am all for arena discussion
and man, you have the perfect subject for the show.
Speaker 4 (43:55):
Well, question is, how did you expect to have me on.
Speaker 1 (43:59):
Oh well, I was looking to see to have you
on on during the UFL season because I saw you
were heading over and I thought you were done playing
for Southwest Kansas for for a little bit, wondering how
that was gonna be with Gary. But yeah, no, he
looks like he's still still around. Honestly, can you take
us through those six days of uh limbo? I know
some of its roster movement, but I'm just fascinated by it, uh.
Speaker 3 (44:22):
I mean I was headed back to Texas on the
bye week before the Renal League and got a call
maybe you know, far ours into the trip, seven hour trip,
far ours, and I got a call, did you want
to you know, come play for you know, a team
that I previously was on, as you said, so it
was one of those things.
Speaker 4 (44:40):
Well why not? I got an opportunity.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
I'm on a bye week, headed back to Texas where
the headquarters for the UFL or and and.
Speaker 4 (44:48):
You know, why not, see you?
Speaker 3 (44:49):
I I can get on the field and play and
play in and play in the UFL again.
Speaker 2 (44:55):
Why not?
Speaker 4 (44:55):
And that's so yeah?
Speaker 2 (44:59):
I mean why not?
Speaker 1 (45:00):
Like it's for the season that the Stallions had in particular,
I mean they could have used anybody with any help.
And you know, you being with Skip, you know in
previous years and in twenty three, you know that definitely
has to be something that he was looking for, especially
with all the chaos, with the injuries, with that roster
kind of crazy in it.
Speaker 3 (45:17):
Definitely crazy six quarterbacks and and uh in that type
of league, you know, it's just an injury bug and
nobody wishes nobody any harm for any for any reason.
Speaker 4 (45:29):
Uh, just very unfortunate.
Speaker 3 (45:31):
So I was just fortunate to be in a position
to go over there and help out that the best
that I.
Speaker 1 (45:35):
Could without a doubt. Now I got to ask you here,
so I know that you played a little bit of CFL,
but you know, Arena's got It's funny because Arena's kind
of to me, you get a little bit of those
aspects with the kind of the high motion and whatnot
in there, maybe a little more so at the indoor
game than arena game. But you know, take us through
(45:56):
kind of your kind of your first year with kind
of adapting to this. You know, it's there's football principles obviously,
but it's not it's not pure outdoor football. There's definitely
a difference to this.
Speaker 4 (46:05):
Game, Oh no doubt. It's definitely a difference.
Speaker 3 (46:09):
And the difference is, of course, everybody knows the field.
I definitely called it a smaller CFL only because the
waggle and I, you know, being in the being in
the CFL and understanding the waggle, understanding you know, the
high motions and whatnot and what you can do with it.
Speaker 4 (46:27):
That helped.
Speaker 3 (46:28):
I think that helped me go into this arena league
and be more comfortable in the understanding of what's going
on and how everything and how you see everything. Because
the CFL is fast as well. Arena game is fast
as well, so you know they kind of correlate, but
don't really correlate.
Speaker 4 (46:44):
It's just how you look at it.
Speaker 3 (46:45):
And so you know it's the you know, why not
look at it like a smaller CFL.
Speaker 4 (46:50):
And you know it's the same thing.
Speaker 3 (46:52):
You know, you got to put balls and window footballs
and windows where it's just like you know in the
CFL you throw from the far hats and that that
you know that feel safety can go get it.
Speaker 4 (47:02):
You do the same thing.
Speaker 3 (47:03):
Here that backside, backside safety or corner can go get it.
So it's about to say.
Speaker 1 (47:13):
I don't think it's talked about enough. It's what's funny
because like I always that's how I've equated it. The
more I've watched, it's like, oh yeah, you can definitely.
And it's surprising because if you look at all the
other the i f L in particular, you know, one
of the most common guys I see go like leagues
I see them go up to is the Canadian football
and I think, oh, yeah, that's just that just correlates
DB's and and receivers, you know, yeah, they're already doing
the waggle as they call it in the CFL or
(47:33):
the high motion as we call it here in the States,
So you know, the one to one. It just seems
like that doesn't get talked about enough.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
Do Do you feel the.
Speaker 4 (47:40):
Same way, No, I definitely feel the same way. Uh.
It is a very unique thing.
Speaker 3 (47:46):
It's something that I think I don't know about the
if L, but I know Arena and this AF one
league that it's the quarterbacks job to to, you know,
do the motion and make sure the motion's on time,
and make sure the snaps on time.
Speaker 4 (48:00):
In the CFL, it's the receiver, it's the receiver. The
whole way. So it just.
Speaker 3 (48:04):
Really depends on what team you're on and how that
goes about.
Speaker 2 (48:10):
Coach coaching.
Speaker 1 (48:11):
With two great coaches you've had, I think in the
last span of the last three years. You know, Gary
Thomas is one of my favorites in this league, and
I consistently continue to be impressed with what he does.
When I talked with him this offseason, really liked his
thoughts on the game.
Speaker 3 (48:24):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (48:24):
And then Skip Holtz, I mean, what else can I
say about it? You know, three times spring football champ
probably too many to some one of the one of
not the greatest in this alternative scene to ever win
outdoor championships.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (48:35):
Maybe describe, maybe describe some dimsess between the two noticed
or just your experiences with either one.
Speaker 3 (48:41):
Uh, I say, the differences between Skip and Gary.
Speaker 2 (48:45):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (48:45):
Gary's a little bit more chill and then Skip. Uh.
Skip is a you know, of course older has.
Speaker 3 (48:53):
Been He's been in different places, so as Gary.
Speaker 1 (48:57):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (48:57):
I take nothing away from any of them because they're
they're both really great coaches.
Speaker 4 (49:01):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (49:01):
They both know what they're doing, and they both and
they both like the you know, the things that they like,
and that's what you have to get accustomed to as
a quarterback and going in each of their systems, one
one coach is harder than the other.
Speaker 4 (49:14):
As you've seen, you know.
Speaker 3 (49:15):
Uh, but as you've seen, one coach is harder than
the other. And I don't I don't necessarily look at
it coaching harder, if that makes sense, because uh, don't
get me wrong, behind the.
Speaker 4 (49:27):
Scenes, Gary's Gary.
Speaker 3 (49:29):
Yeah he's getting on show on the field.
Speaker 4 (49:33):
Yeah he doesn't really.
Speaker 3 (49:34):
Yeah, so uh but the times he does show it
on the field, that's what y'all see. But other times,
like it's me and him and we're doing But you know,
of course, you know Skip has Skip has his moments
as well to where he's gonna get on to you.
But it's just you know, with both of them, it's
the little things that matter. Him is very they're very detailed, uh,
individuals in every in every aspect, and so if you're
(49:57):
a quarterback that can't get align with that, then you know,
know it's gonna be hard to you being at offense.
And so uh, the difference, I feel like the difference
is just you know, age, if that if that helps.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
Well, yeah, a little bit, but I'm glad you look
like it's a gary he for some of the stuff
you guys have gone through, specially the last few weeks. Yeah,
it's definitely seems to uh, I think, keep a cooler head.
But which speaking last few weeks, if I say Salina Liberty,
you say to me.
Speaker 4 (50:31):
What ah hurt? That's what I am.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
I mean, Yeah, you say Saline of Liberty, I just say,
you know, just competition, that's all it is. And you
know they're they're a good ball club, and you know
they they did what they did. But at the same time,
we did what we did.
Speaker 4 (50:57):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (50:58):
But end of the day, we're both still in playoffs,
both still got opportunities.
Speaker 4 (51:05):
And you know, the team I'm rooting for is a
team I'm own.
Speaker 1 (51:07):
So yeah, I hope you're not rooting for anyone else.
Speaker 4 (51:11):
Yeah, right, that pone of.
Speaker 2 (51:12):
Pete Rose or anything at all.
Speaker 4 (51:15):
Not at all.
Speaker 1 (51:17):
I didn't think gonna regardless of course. And I'll say
on the field, you definitely, you know, I think that's
what's impressed a lot of people in this space, which
the crowd in this space. It's so it's very I think,
much more knitted and tighter than even UFL which is
kind of crazy to say, but we've seen you play.
(51:37):
The passing ability has been there since the start of
the season. The runability, I think is what's impressed people
the most. How do you feel you I mean, you
were already kind of a mobile QB in college anyway
with Prairie A and M. I mean, do you. I mean,
this league feels like in many ways it's encapsulates what's
great for running qbs and the IFL I've always seen
a lot so, but even Arena feels like you're taking
(51:59):
advantage even with that jacklinebacker that can track you around
the field very well.
Speaker 3 (52:05):
Yeah, I mean, it's it's one of those things to
where you just have to understand your abilities.
Speaker 4 (52:10):
And I know my abilities, and i know what.
Speaker 3 (52:12):
I'm capable of, and I've always I've always known that,
even like you said, in college, that's something that I've done, uh,
something that I've always accepted, and just knowing who I
am and what I can do and just understanding, like
you know, with this game and even like for example,
in the CFL game, everything is angles.
Speaker 4 (52:30):
Everything is angles. Even in the NFL everything is angles.
Speaker 3 (52:34):
UFL everything is angles, and you just got to understand
angles at the point of time and just understand like, hey,
like things might be moving fast, but if you get
there at this point or you get you get at
this you know this timing and precision or anticipation, like
everything will work out for you.
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Mm hm, you get now you're talking.
Speaker 1 (52:53):
Now you're playing along some of some of the best
in the league, in the business right now, you know,
I mean, you've gotten to play alongside likes or against
likes like Sam Castronovo over in Albany. You know, Tyler
Kolch is been doing great in Japan and is coming
over here and has done really well. I can say
plenty about Mike Henry coming in and what his capabilities are.
Have you chopped up on any of these guys, I'm like,
kind of maybe you were needing a little bit to
(53:15):
catch up the speed on this game, or maybe some
stuff you didn't know about this game. Maybe you talked
on these qbs. Who who have you talked to kind
of help assist in any way?
Speaker 4 (53:23):
I've talked to nobody.
Speaker 2 (53:25):
No, all right, nobody.
Speaker 1 (53:30):
That's fine.
Speaker 3 (53:31):
I mean, it's it's one of those things to where
you know, I'm end of the day. I got a
mechanical engineering degree. I learned on the fly and I
learned fast. So yeah, I mean they can. They can
give you know, info, and I would love to, but
I would love to, you know, get info from him.
But at the same time too in the NFL, you
(53:51):
know Aaron Rodgers, not you know, Finny, just give you know,
any info just like that, so you know, so you
can be better than him. And you know, and like
Joe Flacco said, with uh with shre dear Sanders, He's like,
I'm not a babysitter.
Speaker 4 (54:05):
He's gonna if you stick around, you'll learn.
Speaker 3 (54:08):
And it's one of those things where like like I said,
I learned fast, I learned quick and I and I
and I learned in a shorttand of time. So you know,
just get me the offense and I understand defense as well,
and we go from there.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
So you can't lexineering degree. I'm now I'm curious, what's
uh not? Not that I'm saying football over anytime soon,
but where do you where are you looking? Where are
you looking at? Say post football now with that.
Speaker 3 (54:36):
Post football, with mechanical engineering, I feel like it would
be just a hobby for me. Okay, and I say that, yeah,
it would be a hobby.
Speaker 4 (54:44):
I you know, I want.
Speaker 3 (54:45):
To convert some some older cars to electrical cars and
and go from there and just build some cars from scratch,
and you know, uh, you know, you know, make my
own house and just you know, things like that.
Speaker 4 (54:57):
To where uh, they're unique to me. And like I said,
just a hobby.
Speaker 3 (55:02):
I want to be, you know, that wealthy that ridge
that's successful to where like you know, that's a hobby
for me. And and that's you know, whether it's retail,
whether it's uh, you know and not real estate retail,
whether it's you know, investments and you know, in stocks
or whatever. Just going from there and just having those things.
(55:24):
And when you meet wealthy, rich people, you know, that's
kind of certain things that they talk about of you know,
of financial freedom.
Speaker 4 (55:32):
But other than that, travel travel.
Speaker 3 (55:37):
So that's what I wanted to post football, get paid
to travel.
Speaker 4 (55:42):
So and uh and you know clothing, you know, designs, fashion.
Speaker 2 (55:46):
All of that.
Speaker 1 (55:47):
So dang love the ambition, Well, the ambition. I definitelynt
wait to see what you do. They're still got your
playing here. Hell yeah, lift might be calling you know too.
You think about it that way, you never know. Plenty
of opportunities these days with football, but we got a
playoff game for you coming up here. As we talked
a little bit of the hardships against Solana, did not
(56:09):
lock in a home game, So you're gonna be going
on the road to Nashville. They just announced that they're
playing at FNEM and Rea in Clarksville, which you just
if you saw any of the film from last week,
they packed the building out. It's gonna be a little
rowdy and ruckus.
Speaker 2 (56:22):
What do you thought?
Speaker 1 (56:23):
What do you thought you played this Nashville team with
with Kolka company, this kind of more. I think second
half of the season team compared to your first half,
like the beginning of the year, squad, What did you
take away from the last time you get two played?
Speaker 3 (56:36):
I mean, they're the same team in my eyes. You know,
they're gonna do what they're gonna do, and they're gonna
be who they're gonna be.
Speaker 4 (56:42):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (56:43):
At then at the end of the day, we played
Salina three times, you're playing them three times. Uh, They're
gonna be who they're gonna be, and we're gonna do
what we gotta do. I mean, there's nothing more to
say other than we're going to their house this time
and and uh, you know, Hey, it's a road trip
and the end goal is to be one to know
(57:04):
at the end of the day.
Speaker 1 (57:05):
So with with a crowd that's going to be probably
stacked up as well, you know. So again you know,
same team team we're talking here, so not much there.
I think a little bit more rowdy atmosphere this time
you two are playing playing or I think is going
to happen based on if we're going to say, how
the Clarksville communities come out for this team, how.
Speaker 2 (57:27):
Are you putting up?
Speaker 1 (57:27):
Are there any mental blocks or things you're trying it?
You keep up with like crowd interactions because it's it's
a different ballgame of this when you're right on top
of you compared to say, guys are back a little
bit in the stands in the outdoor game.
Speaker 4 (57:40):
Uh, not at all.
Speaker 3 (57:43):
You know, Yeah, it's a it's an enclosure. Uh, and
it's different. But I mean same time too when you
have sixty thousand people in the stands or eighty thousand people,
one hundred thousand people in the stands or you know,
whether it's NFL, CFL, you know, a college university.
Speaker 4 (58:00):
Uh, you know, noise is gonna be noise.
Speaker 3 (58:02):
But for me personally as a quarterback, and I know
you know other quarterbacks can speak for this as well, like.
Speaker 4 (58:07):
We don't really hear the noise. It doesn't it doesn't
really register.
Speaker 3 (58:11):
So you know, after the play you might hear something
a little bit, but not not really hearing it during
rowall to play like, so that's just me personally.
Speaker 1 (58:22):
Well, Jalalen, I can't wait to see you play this
weekend on your hopefully your journey to the twenty twenty
five Arena Crown, which, by the way, guys, if you
want to catch him playing, you can watch that game
on Vice TV. That's gonna be as at five thirty
Eastern time, two thirty Pacific and there again they'll be
playing in Clarksville, Tennessee, playing on the Nashville Cats, part
(58:45):
of the twenty AF one playoffs. Also, the day before Saturday,
the twenty first, you can watch well his rival Salina
they'll be going to Albany to take on the Firebirds
for those contests. Jayalen, glad to have you on, Glad
to talk with you today, and best of luck, hope
to see you get get into the Crown and maybe
(59:05):
walk away with the Crown in your first year in
arena football.
Speaker 3 (59:09):
Ye, sir, I definitely appreciate you. Thank you for having me,
and you know we'll be speaking again.
Speaker 1 (59:13):
So hey, special thanks once again to quarterback Jalen Morton
for stopping by. And look, look, Stefan. I'm really happy
to see his journey has been with the Storm in
this light as being like one of the premier now
arena players, you know, and he's also you know, really
interesting guy, mechanical engineering degree and has a lot of
(59:35):
you know, I talked after the show with him as
a lot of stuff he wants. He has visions and
thoughts of what he wants to do with his future
with or without football. So you know, hats off to him.
His journey has been been fun. And he's also been CFL.
Like we talked, he's af one, you know, has had
seen the NFL system in the first few years he
was out out of college. And I mean, Skuy's lived
(59:58):
for the guy. You know, I'm curious where he goes,
Like I could see him, you know, with that UFL
connection getting a call back up, you know, maybe with
getting some more tape on there. He's a mobile guy,
really solid arm. Yeah, I mean, possibility's end listening. He's
got a championship to fight for Stefan, that's the thing
he's got to focus on right now.
Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
Well, I mean, again, this is what I was talking
about before. For all those Stallions fans that have the itch,
I mean, it feels like you found your team already.
And so these games are this weekend. They're pretty easy
to find. We'll probably give you some details there. But
you know, one thing that I really appreciate. You mentioned
he had a mechanical engineering degree, and that probably explains
(01:00:37):
a little a little bit why he's so good on
the field, because engineers think differently. They see things. You know,
it's all about that field vision really in any sport
court vision, I guess in basketball. But engineers they think
beyond the problem, right, and they're thinking kind of three
steps into it and to where you know, to me,
(01:00:57):
it actually makes sense to see a quarterback plus have
that kind of profession behind the scenes. Plus, I mean,
he's got a pretty solid career to fall back on
whenever he's tired of playing football. Just lucky that we
haven't that he hasn't gotten tired of it yet, at
least hopefully until the end of this weekend. And the
weekend after. But we have some games lined up, Zack,
(01:01:18):
and I'm gonna let you be the arbiter of like
explaining some of the rules for some of the folks,
maybe some of the differences here. But Saturday we have
our first game seven pm Eastern on Evergreen Free. By
the way, if I always say if it's free, it's
me head over to Evergreen. They have an app you
can get on your Android device, your Roku device. You
can pull it up on your computer, your phone, you
(01:01:40):
name it. I think you do have to sign up
for an account, but it's free. Yeah. Game kicks off
seven pm Eastern. We have the Albany Firebirds and the
Salina Liberty. Did I say it right? Oh? Good, sign
me up. People always get mad when I say Regina
about Canada, and I just I don't want to say
the real name because I feel like I'm saying a
(01:02:01):
bad word.
Speaker 1 (01:02:02):
It's just Regina.
Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
Yeah, yeah, here we go. We're gonna get censored on
YouTube for that one.
Speaker 4 (01:02:08):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:02:08):
But yeah, first game up. We got the Firebirds and
the Liberty. Now I don't I don't watch af one
as much as I might watch the ufl uh. But
New York northern Upstate New York Albany. From what I understand,
they're usually and from what I see, they're usually a
playoff ready team. Yeah, they had a little bit of
(01:02:29):
a stutter a few years ago with Antonio Brown. Different team,
different team guys. For anybody who's like, oh, that Upstate
New York team, I don't know about them, different team,
but they're taking on the Liberty. This is on Evergreen.
Break it down for me, sacky boy. What am I
supposed to be looking for here?
Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
Well, I would say look for what the Salina Liberty
are going to do at quarterback because one thing that
has been very prominent in their run to the playoffs
is they've had to lean on their old veteran and
former championship and Javin Kilgo, who has not been their
starter this year. Rackeem Cato, former Marshall quarterback and also
(01:03:07):
Arena veteran in many other spaces. He was signed on
later in the year to kind of replace Kilgo at
the start because Javin Kilgo had a terrible start this season.
Cato comes in helps rally the team to several wins
to get him to where they could even qualify for
a playoff opportunity. But they had to beat the Storm
twice in their own building and in Southwest Kansas, which
(01:03:27):
is Dodge City. And sure enough, not only did they
do it twice, come from behind victories in both games,
and Javin Kilgo had to come in in relief duty
to lead come from behind victories. It is a very
special team that's come in and also has given the
Firebirds a run for their money. Now all but he's
undefeated going into the playoffs. But Solana is one of
(01:03:49):
the few teams this year that has kept it close
and has had a shot to get a win. Can
they do it with Javi and Kilgo? That's the question.
Speaker 2 (01:03:57):
Now.
Speaker 1 (01:03:57):
If you want to feel like doing picks, be my guest.
Here's the fun.
Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
But I'm curious who you're picking now.
Speaker 1 (01:04:03):
I mean, I'll be honest with you. It's in the
Capitol region. It's a rowdy, very raucous crowd out there.
Those guys, it's a fun atmosphere. I've been to a
championship game when they were in the NAL. Those people
are great. They support the team hardcore. I gotta go
with the Firebirds here out of just sure safe keeping here.
But if Javin kilgo Is back, which Kilgos is a
(01:04:27):
good veteran. It's just he was terrible as at the
beginning of the season and really did not look at
all himself from his championship days. Looked a little overwhelmed
from the level competition. Personally, if he shows up in
any way, this will be.
Speaker 2 (01:04:40):
A barn burner.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
I just trust that Albany roster. Sam Castronova, by the way,
if any of you know that name, that's a guy
who's been in this space that I've been dying to
see go to the UFL. He is one of the best,
if not the best, fifty yard quarterback in any of
the league levels. It's either to me now or never
that he gets a look. He is and I hope
(01:05:01):
to God that he goes to one of these camps
this year and some team picks him up. He is stellar,
and they have a loaded roster on both sides of
the ball. It's basically an our all star team. But
I think it'll be a fun game. So line has
kept up with him. They have a really great defense
on the other side, and some good weapons in the
passing game in likes so like say Tracy Brooks or
Malie Honeycut should be a fun one to kick things
(01:05:21):
off for the playoffs, even though it's a one four matchup,
and it'll lead into an exciting Sunday night affair over
in Crksville, Tennessee, with the Nashville Katz hosting the storm.
Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
And I'll say this real quick. Yeah, just because I
learned my lesson over over this past weekend for not
rooting for the underdog. And this is me knowing nothing
other than the few games I watch. I'm going Salina
all day. I got the name right, I got it down.
I'm watching. Because I'm watching this game, I'll be dropping
(01:05:51):
some tweets. There are some things I'm looking for. I
want to puke delay. So if anybody out there, you know,
sign them up. Sure the people like the league like
to shut up reps. What are you talking about? It's hilario.
I forgot.
Speaker 1 (01:06:03):
I almost forgot about the pukelay.
Speaker 2 (01:06:07):
It's like the top five AF one moment for me, man,
I was that or if we can get where the
ball gets stuck in the in the thing again, like
in the crossbar. So that was what that was my
first week of the season, early season, I believe I
was like, oh my God, you don't. You don't see
that in football every day. You gotta love it.
Speaker 1 (01:06:27):
But I'll tell you before we go in the second matchup,
this is a great time to kind of go over
some things. If you are any say you're watching this leak,
or say you're watching our show. You've never watched Arena before,
this is the perfect time to do it. These are
the best teams in the cream of the crop, and
the rules are so fricking fun. So he's mentioning the crossbar,
so the nets and the nets in the rebound rebounding structure.
(01:06:50):
Basically there's these big square netted like criss crossing iron
or aluminum as they as I know, uh, they used
to be made of steel bars. And the way it's
structured is the balls bounces off when they kick off
and you're supposed to recover off the net. But the
bars can screw up the ball, so as you said,
it can get stuck in the net in the bar
(01:07:10):
and it'd be a touchback. It can bounce off the
bar and that ball's live. It gets recovered on the
kit by the kicking team. They can score or they
can start another drive immediately and you can score points
on those kickoffs with what is called the deuce two points.
If you kick off and you make a field goal
between the nets from the kickoff, it's a big game
changing play in a game that is so much more
(01:07:32):
important on possessions I think than even any outdoor game
could be. And yeah, that's only one aspect of it.
Eight players also on each side to keep that in mind.
Speaker 2 (01:07:41):
You know where else the ball is live. We saw
it this weekend, Zachi Boy, when we were driving it's
live on the wall we saw what was that a
pick in the end zone. Yes, because the ball tipped
and bounced and landed on the wall and the guy
just boom, that's mine now.
Speaker 1 (01:07:59):
That it was a super fun rule, like if you're like, say,
you're a smart arena player or something like that. So yeah,
if the ball lands on top, or if it bounces
off the side and doesn't hit the ground from a pass,
you can pick it off or catch it. And there
are really good receivers in this league that take advantage
of that, honestly.
Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
Freddie McGee, by the way, who is with the Liberty,
He's the one who caught off the wall. He's one
of the best arena dbs. In the game. Absolutely smart
arena guy. And another one that's not you know, on
any team, but I wish was playing if he had
a chance, Darius prince Man. He is really good at
understanding the rules and is like a super expert at
catching off the walls or on the pads. But that's
just another aspect. It's a completely different ball game. It's
(01:08:43):
always fast paced, NonStop, you know, and the possessions matter
so much more. You're expected to score every possession. If
you get a defensive stop, it just means that much
more in this game. So definitely check it out. And
I think that game in all but he's great to me.
My game of the week of the two is definitely
the Sunday night game, though I'm gonna be honest with you,
these two have fought tooth and nail against each other
all year with the Storm, with the Storm taking on
(01:09:05):
the Cats in Clarksville, Tennessee at the FNEM Arena just
north of Nashville. But what's gotten me is the Storm,
as we kind of hinted at, they put themselves in
this position. We were watching this game on our road
back from Summerstock and they had lost to Saligna two
weeks prior in a come from behind fashion. Here they
(01:09:26):
are leading by double digits again at on the road,
this time in Salina, and we watched the same thing.
They slip away and they lost the lead on really
just some poor execution, dumb luck and not I think
to me, not a good strategy with a certain rule set,
because as you now know, Stefan, if you're leading the
(01:09:47):
game in arena football, you have to get yards positive
to keep the clock running under a minute. Under one
minute is traditional timing rules, and that means the clock stops,
whether is an incomplete pass or in this sense, if
you can't get positive yardage.
Speaker 2 (01:10:05):
On a down.
Speaker 1 (01:10:06):
So it's a huge implication if it's a one or
two possession game. And so Lina took advantage both of
these games, this one in particular, that's why they won.
They have a good kicker as well, and the Storm
are going to have to pay for that against the Cats,
who have one of my favorite nicknames in the game,
mister Kolkamania himself, Tyler Kolka behind center, who's been lighting
(01:10:27):
it up as well for Nashville since he's joined in
on the fray. That'll be fireworks, that's my game of
the week. You got an MVPQB in Southwest Kansas coming
over to play not only one of the better structured
rosters that's built over the season, but an old school
legend in Darren Arbett who's coaching on the opposite side.
Speaker 2 (01:10:47):
Well, and you also have some big name tie ins
to this game as well, because correct my if I'm wrong,
John Gruden hit earlier this year joined the Nashville Cats
ownership group. Yes, sir, I mean that alone again not
being you know, knowing the ins and outs of the game.
To me, I would love to see Nashville win just
based on that alone, because it's the hey, Grudin, look,
(01:11:09):
you bought into a not only a playoff ready team,
a championship team. Whether you win that game or not,
you definitely have something to build on for next season,
which will be his first full season as part of
that ownership group. But to me, the Nashville Cats is
we look back last year when uh there, you know,
(01:11:30):
the Cats came back and there was a lot of
noise around the Nashville Cats, And so to see that
team now in the AF one, to see where everything's
heading now, I just want to see them build upon that.
They have a pretty good fan base from what I understand.
But I have also seen some of these Storm games
and they seem to hold up well as well. But
(01:11:51):
as you mentioned, Zach, it's that time management, you know,
it seems like it's it's in their incentive in that
position to run the ball. And from what we saw,
they weren't running the ball on every possession when they
could have gotten some yards, ran out some clock, moved
on to the next play.
Speaker 4 (01:12:11):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
Yeah, it's a two point lead, you want some more points.
It is what it is. But once you throw it
and it doesn't get down the field, you're stopping the clock. Yeah,
you lost it down. That's more time that that other
team has to capitalize. And well you used to see
how that goes. And I'm hoping, and I'm hoping Nashville
picks them apart. I hope they claw at them a
little bit, tear them up. I don't know. That's my
(01:12:35):
my uneducated pick Nashville. I'm Nashville is a from Tennessee.
They have no state income tax, and I reward that
as well as a Texan and no state income tax.
Speaker 1 (01:12:48):
Oh Man collecting the collecting the checks and cash them
in the bank for the Crown, right, I will actually flip.
I'm gonna go with Southwest Kansas and I'm gonna go
with the thing with the things of I think got you.
I think'na chip on their shoulder. Personally, they lost two
straight games that were very winnable, just couldn't close the deal.
And I don't think that I don't think that this
(01:13:09):
is gonna go the way that way where they get
a little too comfortable and kind of, you know, maybe
don't take advantage of having that kind of buffer, you know,
don't keep the gas pedal down, and so to speak.
I think you're gonna have to in this one. Nashville
is really good in the passing game. They also have
a really solid rush attack on the ground, and I
think Jail Morton's gonna have to be basically his MVP
(01:13:30):
self what I've seen all year and have to carry
the reins and carry this team to a Crown meetup,
likely to me against Albany, although if your scenario plays
out by the way Stefan, it would be hosted in
Dodge City, as the Crown is going to be played
at the highest seated team of the two championship teams,
so does have implications by the way, if that were
(01:13:53):
to play play out and an upset where to happen
in the Capitol region, so to speak. But yeah, I'm
gonna go with the storm, and then I'm gonna actually
reserve our conversation on the championship until next week because
we're on the ride and I think this will be
something we might try out as the year goes on.
You know, there's other great leagues out there. We talk
about them once in a while, but I think it's
(01:14:14):
a perfect time offseason. There's still games going on. Let's
talk about that a little bit what we see, and
I think that's the thing. You know, this is a
great league. I love arena football. I always tell you
if the UFL didn't exist, I would be just all
arena football all the time. And I still do a
ton arena football stuff on the side. This will be
a fun weekend and the Crown matchup is going to
(01:14:35):
have two stellar opponents where we're gonna setup for one
hell of a conclusion to their inaugural year being AF one.
Speaker 2 (01:14:44):
I know we're going to talk about the championship next week,
but let me just throw one question in there is
there a literal crown? Don't know? I know, and I'm
actually pretty sech. You know, you need to get on
the phone with whoever you need to get on the
phone with and say, if there's not a crown, you
better get a flipping crown. I don't care if it's
a burger creaking crown. Well, actually probably with the memes nowadays,
(01:15:07):
you probably don't want the burger, but you get a crown.
Speaker 1 (01:15:12):
I don't know if there is, but you think if
they're naming it that that they're.
Speaker 2 (01:15:17):
Going to make it that way. I want a crime.
I know somebody's got to be listening. I want a
crown before we leave this conversation. So the second game's
on Vice TV. If you don't have Vice TV, I
want to call out. You can find this game on
Friendly TV streaming service which one week free trial. They
(01:15:40):
have a one week free trial a seven day free trial.
So if you want to watch the game and you
don't want to spend a lot of money or any money,
you can do it that way. And even the subscription
was seven bucks a month's ack. It's like it's pretty cheap.
So hey, if you like Hallmark movies, that's how you
do it. Your wife's like, honey, why are you spending
more money? Say show, we got the Hallmark Channel your set.
Speaker 1 (01:16:03):
I think too, and I'm not one hundred percent confirmed
on the championship broadcasters, I'm pressure it's this.
Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
If you do that, you should be.
Speaker 1 (01:16:11):
Covered by the way for the Championship because my understanding
is I think it's you know, they haven't said themselves,
but my understanding is the Championship will also be on
Vice TV. So if you do kick that off on Sunday,
because remember the Saturday games free, you don't need anything.
You just need to go on Evergreen Now, which you
can find on any Android, iOS, Roku, and Amazon Fire.
(01:16:35):
It's all the big ones. You can go on there, upload,
download it, log in. You got the game right away.
For Albany, the Nashville game, you go on there seven
day free trial on Sunday that'll last through both those games.
So if you pick up a trial, you got the
whole playoff slate for free. Keep that in mind, which,
(01:16:55):
by the way, that's not just me saying that. No,
I mean, we watch the NL Championship game, but the
ifl one's not, you're gonna have to pay for.
Speaker 2 (01:17:04):
That either way, so well in that NAL game was
like a one. They have it unlisted on their YouTube channel,
which is just comical in myself, I still can't believe
we had to go and hunt that down and the
fact we jumped for hoops we thought, oh, we need
an antenna and then it's like, oh it is there.
Speaker 1 (01:17:21):
Oh we got to go and hunt it in a
playlist unlisted.
Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
It's not on their main page.
Speaker 1 (01:17:26):
What's their main page got deleted this year?
Speaker 2 (01:17:29):
Oh honestly, I got it. So I saw a tweet
today and I almost got senteled. Whoever runs the Arena
Football centel one said that they were gonna shut down
the league because the the Omaha guy, and I was like, huh.
Speaker 1 (01:17:43):
I was like, oh, okay, okay, I'm laughing at that
because we so I have a little chat with some
buddies of mine that we were in the community, in
the arena community like that, and we kind of talked
and that got sent to me and we did a
little digging that that account hasn't been used in like
I think two two years, and all of a sudden
it comes on and you're seeing like tweets and we
(01:18:06):
were like it's this is their owner. Their owner definitely paid.
Speaker 2 (01:18:08):
Oh my god, they responded to it.
Speaker 1 (01:18:11):
Yeah, yeah, they responded. Yeah, we think their owner got
on and basically got so frustrated that he wrote up
like two paragraphs worth of a response between a reply
and a quote tweet to a fake account.
Speaker 2 (01:18:28):
Sign him up. Yeah. So, the the tweet and question
was Arena Football Central crazy. The Olmaha Beef will be
folding the entire Naal after their NAL championship game loss.
Reasons cited for this decision to include embarrassment and sadness,
and then the Omaha Beef responds, That's the craziest and
(01:18:53):
most ridiculous thing I've ever seen or heard. I could say,
Oh my god, they got baited. That's hiious. Sign them up.
Speaker 1 (01:19:00):
Watch out for the centel comes guys.
Speaker 2 (01:19:03):
You never know what you're gonna get. Tip my hat
to whoever scent this centil what is? I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:19:10):
I mean, I don't know who it is, but they
they are. They clearly know how to get get the
ump roar.
Speaker 2 (01:19:17):
That's hilarious. That is too flipping good. I'm so glad
because I didn't know that the Beef. I just saw this.
This morning, and then I didn't know that they do it.
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 1 (01:19:30):
God, only an arena people, you only get that in
arena football.
Speaker 2 (01:19:35):
Another reason to tune in.
Speaker 1 (01:19:36):
Well, check that out by this weekend again, Saturday seven
o'clock Eastern time for the alban East line of game
Sunday five thirty Eastern time for south West Kansas taking
on Nashville on Vice TV. The other one is on
Evergreen for the Saturday game. So yeah, have a good
time with that, and we'll be talking about that next
week at least about the championship. Hopefully another interview by
(01:19:58):
the way, because a shout out to the half one
for helping us set up the Jail and Morton interview.
So we'll keep you in touch with how that goes
and see who else we chat with next week. But
uh yeah, yeah, until then, anything else you got. I mean,
it's kind of weird. We're in off season mode, man,
It's we're into some talks about the future, what's coming
around the bend once again, it's all part of the fun.
Speaker 2 (01:20:22):
It's uh, we'll probably be having a lot more Speculation
Zone episodes as we head deeper into the off season,
but at least now we have a little bit of
football to talk about. Sure, once the NFL season comes
comes around, I'll be doing a little bit more trash
talking about those dirty, low down Bears and they're poaching
techniques down there, and I might do some I might
(01:20:45):
do some trash talking on behalf of my Lions. But
they got to earn it first. That's I don't know why.
That's the way. You know, I go all in on
my my, my roughnecks. But the Lions, I don't know
what it is. It's it's forty plus years of them
breaking my heart time into again. They got to earn it.
Even we got that playoff win a couple of years ago,
we didn't get it last year. And uh, I don't know.
(01:21:08):
That's about it. I'm looking forward to it and hopefully
work doesn't beat beat the life out of me before
the next UFL season starts, because they're doing the best
post vacation.
Speaker 1 (01:21:19):
I'm as I'm finishing recording.
Speaker 2 (01:21:21):
I'm with you right there.
Speaker 1 (01:21:22):
I'm about to go and uh get back in the
cycle and yay, good luck, brother, It's okay. Well we're here.
We'll work through it together, my friend. We've got a
whole summer yes, some of this stuff. Maybe a maximum
football sessions in order soon, so uh, I don't know,
there's plenty. There's other things we're talking about behind the
scenes too, so stick with us. But yeah, again, if
(01:21:43):
you're you haven't subscribed, you're new to this again, if
you've been interested about the UFL after the championship game,
or hell maybe if you're looking up af one and
you stumble on us from our talk and you're wanting
to follow more football, Hey, sign on, sign you on
up as we as we say, click the bell and
cook the subscribe button. The bell builds for us, and
you also keep connected anytime we talk in the offseason
(01:22:04):
or going into next year, so you don't want to
miss that, whether it's us with the USFL podcast or
even once again on ATU because we're over there with
a James Larson and the other crew of Ducky Jake,
you name it. Nick Thorn maybe shows up as well
too his championship stuff, or he shows up and James
doesn't show up because that happened last week, so you
never know what happens on that show. But yeah, until then,
(01:22:27):
he's the ref. I'm Zach catch on the next episode
next week. We will be back for whatever else comes out. Signings, AFL, crown, stuff,
you name it. It's THEFL Podcast. See I for episode
one on nine next week.
