Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome on in everybody too the UFL Podcast. I am
Zach Kaman, hosting this week and on as always for
a show that well is gonna be a little over
stuff because it's about overdue for our next edition. Got
plenty to discuss this week as we edge just a
bit closer to training camp and the twenty twenty five

(00:22):
UFL season, but before, of course, we jump on in
and do all of the things that we will be
doing on this amazing show live by the way difference,
and thank you again to the folks that are tuning
in and tuned in for what I would call the
production meeting as I will put it. Gotta give a
shout out here to Mike Man on the opposite side screen,

(00:43):
Rutho ref he is here. Welcome on in, sir.

Speaker 2 (00:46):
How you doing, Bud? We got a lot to discuss.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
Actually, got some stuff today that I think pertains a
little bit to you in your team, not even just
saying rough them up to say ruugh them up.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
I mean we're looking forward to a good season, Zach.
We talked about this on the seven.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Year stream which you were able to join me.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
I got the new camera and look at this, we
got new technology. We got all sorts of things seven
years at newsroom. Like I said, the next stream we do.
We got the intro settled.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
We got the whatever. The other problem was, oh the chat.
We got the chat settled.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Third time this Monday for around the A two. We're
gonna get this bad boy to work.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
We're so close, guys. I mean you've you've been on.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
You've been on a few of our test streams as
of late.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
You can see that.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
You know, Like I said, if you haven't done a
podcast before, it's you get a little comfortable with uh,
I guess your setup. And so we have been learning
on the fly. But we're glad you're learning with us.
I guess and uh, you know for those audio listeners
you're like, what the hell are you talking about? It's like,
trust me, it's okay. You You still get that wonderful, crisp,
glorious road mic audio that we enjoy so comfortably here

(01:58):
with our studios. But yeah, diving on in here. It
is episode ninety four of the UFO Podcast. We got
a lot to discuss today in terms of the season
ahead for signings. But I also think one that you know,
originally I'll say.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
I did I underreacted to.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
But I read a little bit more into this one,
and I think we should talk about this a little
bit more because for the UFL sake, kind of cool.
I read the PR a little bit more and it's
kind of cool. So you know, I'll also listen here
Stefan UFL HQ.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
We we've already know it's in Arlington. We've known they've
been based in Arlington.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
They took up, you know, host hosting duties from what
the XFL had in twenty twenty three. They said, hey,
got a great relationship with the city. Let's dive back
in on them.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Why not.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
So this past week PR releases that UFL HQ is
going to be in Arlington, and the original one I
will say, Barry watching these say Stefan, Oh, here we go.
We'll talk later, Bama two five. Anyhow, back to what
we're talking. They launch and they say they're having an
HQ in Arlington. Now, a lot of people like me,

(03:06):
whatever they've done it. They've said this before. They've been
at Chalk Tak, but differences. You know, they're going to
be at a massive facility pretty much across the street
from the stadium. I'm looking at the photos of it
right now, and they're doing a lot of extra stuff
in it that after reading pr I'm like, Okay, this
is kind of cool, and it kind of like puts
a little more direction on stuff that they want to

(03:29):
do that maybe streamlines the process of the business and
also makes I think better for players to be more
involved with like league accounts and league support.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
So, you know, what are your thoughts on this.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
I mean, we're talking like new training rooms, We're talking
a dedicated media center. We're talking you know, more of
a focus on office buildings and like personnel that are
in Arlington at like an actual headquarters, not not like
having some loosely jointed stuff like they were talking equipment management,
Like they will have an equipment center to streamline sending

(04:04):
items two venues that they didn't have as much last year.
So good infrastructural pieces that you know, I think it
helps keep building blocks towards what we want to keep
seeing and putting roots down.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Well that's to me, it's and I've brought this up
this is usually my go to answer for a lot
of these types of things. It brings legitimacy to the league,
right having their central headquarters not only just as a
headquarters to deal with business, but now that you have
weight rooms and training rooms, and you're probably gonna bring
some of the social media people and some of the

(04:38):
marketing people and having a central place where all of
these people can workshop in one area.

Speaker 2 (04:44):
To hopefully keep this thing going. Right.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
So we've we've seen it time and time again. You
get one season under your belt if you're lucky. You
get two seasons under your belt if you're really lucky.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
But the one thing that has eluded us since the
eighties has been that season three. Right. And so when
I see Fox or the UFL.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Or really whoever's pushing this initiative going forward and building
out a large headquarters, it feels to me like they're
just really preparing for a season three, right. It would
seem strange if they were, you know, on the line
about well are we aren't we going to continue with
this project? Why would they put all the effort into this?

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Now.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
This is not to say that this is confirmation that
we are going to get a season three, but it.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Feels like this is something to it. Now.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
I will comment on this because I know Bama Boy
and the and the rest are going to wonder.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Well, why move it from Birmingham.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Now, I'm not saying that's a good idea or a
bad idea, but from a business perspective, I can understand why.
And it comes down to Texas, right, and so Texas
is notoriously one of these places where they're offering cheaper
tax rates to businesses. I don't know if that's the
case in this situation, but I would wager that that's

(06:03):
probably the case in there. In this that one, there
was either it was either more affordable, right so choktaw.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Maybe they had this office space laying around.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Maybe it's on the discount, and then you add in
the tax breaks and things like that. Again, this is
just me making assumptions here. I love Texas, I love Birmingham.
Whether if they were in either spots, I would be
just as happy now and less and less.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Here's the one thing.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
If if the UFL really wants to go above and beyond,
they're gonna have some swingas on some of those cars
in that parking lot.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
I'm just saying it's it might be a.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
You're putting into Dallas, that's what you're trying to do there.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Sooner or later we're gonna take over Dallas. I don't
know who Dallas thinks they are. They get all the
good concerts, they get all the good events. Houston is
the fourth largest city in the country and Dallas, I
mean Dallas.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Got Paul McCartney. Paul McCartney.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Hey, I don't know if you know this, Houston's bigger
and better than Dallas.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
You didn't get the memo he didn't care.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Yeah, well know you can talk to him about that
if you want, go go up to Dallas, get take
a few hour trip up there and ask you questions
if you like. I think this is one thing I
love with the live show. So first off, Boomer here
if you can throw up his comment on Birmingham doesn't
care about the Stallions. Why would they go back to Birmingham?
And I live in Alabama, So first off, I want

(07:35):
to just to defend the Stallions. You do realize we're
talking about a team Arlington had even worse support. So
first off, I think that doesn't even make any sense
to bring up the support angle because Arlington, to me,
if we're talking support fan base wise, you know there
are diehard fans there, but they got to work on
selling tickets let's be freaking honest with you.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
That was a market that needed some help.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
So I'm gonna second off, and you put it up
with Ducky's common I think it makes more sense. Is
again Texas being cheaper and I saw I put Christopher's
up as well. But the airfare, and I've said this
before and I've told you this many times, Birmingham's airport.
I've had very mixed bag experiences with going to Birmingham.

(08:20):
And it's a small airport, like there is a massive
gap between Birmingham International and Dallas. Dallas International is huge.
It's one of the biggest airports in the country. So
the logistics make a ton of sense, especially if you're
moving equipment, you're moving players, you're moving personnel.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
You know that's the deal money and that transport plus
you know this is equal for Birmingham and Arlington. But
I think you know, you get with who you know,
you have a good partner, Your reward that partner. You know, again,
it's a give and take back and forth. The city
gives you some some bonuses and a little more leeway
on things, and it maybe gives you some better ways

(09:00):
of getting in and you know, operating your business and
you help the city of Arlington by being there and
being present. Maybe you employ more folks from that area,
maybe you help with the more local economy and exposure
in that area. So that to me is definitely you know,
you get with who you know, your reward partnerships and

(09:21):
people that you know. That's a business thing. So like
that's part of why this is just being reiterated. And
I'll be honest with you, I'm gonna go with this angle.
I see a little WWE in this move and let
me let me float a great comp in here. When
I looked up this building and I started looking at
the pr and releases on this building and just thinking

(09:41):
about you know, I know Dwayne Johnson's a minority owner.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
I understand that.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
But they're making a content center, They're making training facilities
at this place. They're making office buildings. This is Titan
Towers of the UFL that this is exactly what they're doing.
They're making their Titan Towers in Arlington, Texas. Yes, it
doesn't have the flags or the low go on it,
or it's not a big glass building, but like you
look at this building, it's right next door to their
facilities and it's operating the way they wanted to, like

(10:07):
they they are renting this whole space out. This is
their Titan Towers. So you know, I see a little
bit of the WWE like business model aspect of like
we're gonna put our stuff in one location. You know,
we travel around a little bit. Yes, it's different than wrestling.
You know, you're not doing night by night like this
is our operations center. We have all this stuff here,

(10:27):
we have all these resources for you to help us
then move stuff out to where it needs to go.
This is Titan Towers of the UFL. I'm gonna I'm
locking that one in.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
And No, that's that's actually a really good comparison because
I think you're you're you hit everything on the nose, right,
it's there. It's their central operations for everything in one building.
Where I mean, you you know we seen this well,
I've seen it a little bit where I work.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
I'm sure you see it where you work too. It's
like you can.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
Pump out a lot of things when there's a lot
of people working on different.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Things in one building. Right.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Yeah, So no, I think I mean, at the end
of the day, if it adds to legitimacy. If it
saves them money and it helps them be more productive,
sign them up. So I'm very excited to see the fruits.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
Of their labor.

Speaker 3 (11:14):
Now, considering they have this, I would love to see
things like pregame shows, halftime shows, things like that. I mean,
if you have a whole studio, why not, right, and so,
not that we're going to see that this year, but
you make it to a season three, you get to
a season four, season five, well yeah, I imagine that
every year they're going to be adding more initiatives and
hopefully hiring more people to build out the product, right

(11:36):
and so.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
And we're just talking about it from a production site.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
I mean from a player's perspective, this is pretty awesome too, right,
because we talked about the training rooms and all, like,
there's no the thing with this is there's no team
that has a better facility than the other.

Speaker 2 (11:51):
Now.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
No, I mean it was probably similar last year too,
but we've seen it in the past with the USFL,
even the XFL. There's some that were you know, training
on in NFL facilities, some were training in high school facilities, right,
and so maybe that's not gonna have a huge impact
on your play.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
But sometimes when that game comes down to one.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
Point, hey, you know what, maybe it would have had
an impact maybe right, and so maybe so it brings
a little bit of maybe consistency to it.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
We'll see, we'll see.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Yeah, I think to kind of get some other stuff
I want to list off. So again you get office spaces,
performance center, weight rooms. The content studio is a big
one to me because I think, like, you know, you
want creatives. You know, I'm more involved with the space
now than ever you and I both have been. But
now even you know, side stuff I'm doing outside of
this show, you know it's going to be really based

(12:45):
on you know, having assets that you can use right
and available. You know, we're talking camera equipment, mic equipment,
you know, any and everything in between, computers, editing bays
like stuff like that's gonna be huge. Also real quick, Bama,
I'm sorry, it's based on the connection coming from my place.
Can't do much about it with that camera. But anyway,
you know, that is all fantastic. But like I point

(13:06):
out the warehouse, so like, you know, there, I guess
it was a little more. I wouldn't say I'm prompt too,
but like We've heard from people in the past that
you know, you talk enough, you get enough people on
even discord or on the community servers that have worked equipment.
Equipment is actually a very underrated and underuh I think
focused on subject with these sports properties, you don't realize

(13:28):
how much goes into the logistics of.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Moving around, moving around gear, moving.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Around helmets or pads or any necessary medical equipment. You know,
you got to wash this stuff, you got to set
this stuff up, you got to move pieces for the
actual football playing surface if you own it out to
these places. Some stuff you can keep at stadiums, of course,
but you know it's not everything. You know you're gonna
more often than not have to take stuff back. So

(13:54):
I think that having that again, having a dedicated space,
you know, or re allocating how stuff is used, which
you're still having access to Choctaw Stadium, my guess is
that the warehouse is probably more focused on the stadium,
less on the office building that's a big deal.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
So like they.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
Reorganized and focused up more on I think streamlining their
business and kind of having a more focused hub, which
is cool. Like I'll be again I reiterate, I kind
of breezed over this pr when it came out as
like whatever, it's Arlington, they've already been here at Arlington,
but like it kind of shows they've they've thought this
out on how to improve the business in a second year,
to make it better. And I really love what they did,

(14:34):
Like as a business, I love what they did for
this Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
Now I again, I'd love to see these things happening.
It shows that the Fox and the people behind this
league actually care about this league. And you know what,
it's going to continue because the thing since we've been
covering this, Zach, and we've been covering it seven years now,
we've never seen a season three. I mean technically kind
of if you want to count the USF conference, which.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
I saw you got. I'm on your.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Side, by the way, Zach, with it comes to you
in the ore in the discussion with Arlington a train
Arlington Lane from the X Fan show, by the way,
check them out, he was trying to argue that the
Stallions are not a three peat champion, and me, being
one of the biggest Stallions fans, agree with you, Zach
in your argument that the Stallions are a three peat champion.

(15:24):
At minimum minimum there are three peat USFL champion.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
Here's my crux, and the way I look at it
is that, look, look they the the UFO owns history
of the of these leagues, so I'm going to say
that they have it.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
It's quite frankly, yeah, I think there's three peat.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
I'm gonna I defend that with a little bit of
even diehard feelings towards that because those those are good,
good football teams, all three of them. So yeah, I'm
not going to back off that comment whatsoever. But Arlington
appreciated the banter back and forth. By the way, if
you do watch this episode, because that was fun. I
had a good time. I had a good time with that.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
So real quick, I have to address this.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
Bama boy is asking me, Bama two O five if
I believe in Nolan Hendy, I mean, of course I do.
Twelve And oh baby, I mean if we are going
to see amazing things out of the Roughnecks this year's
ach and you're going to be there for the first game,
just think of how exciting that is just for you.
What an experience you're going to carry over for the
rest of your life.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Yeah, that's gonna be wonderful. The first win of twelve
in a row.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
This history, z act history, back to the making, back
to the back to the topic. I see comments, and
I'm like, so actually, real quick before we get back,
So you can't see the chat?

Speaker 2 (16:42):
Is that you can see it? But you can't. I'm
looking right at it.

Speaker 3 (16:45):
Can you can you promote people's stuff in here? I
do not have access to push it on the screen,
So like.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
If you hover over their chat, it doesn't give you
like a show on screen. No, yeah, I think it's
just a little later.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
Yeah, uh but no, I I've seen I'm obviously following
the chat, so I mean I could see everything. I'm
watching it. I got the YouTube one up here too.
But yeah, that's good. That's good. Anyway, let's move on here.
So yeah ufl HQ. Great stuff there, love it. Now
let's talk what we've been meaning to catch up. A

(17:19):
lot of signings, a lot of a lot of bigger
name signings. Well, well we will talk as much, guys,
and in the chat especially. This is what's great with
the live show. If you have any player you want
us to like, bigger name, you wantus to discuss or whatever,
we don't mind. It's not gonna be forever. We're gonna
we're we have ones in mind. We're gonna we are
gonna circle some of the bigger names. But you know,

(17:40):
don't be afraid to mention if you want us to
discuss one or your thoughts, Like I know you just
asked about we just said someone to ask about Nolan Henderson.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
I don't mind about that. I think it's a.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
Part of what our overall discussion is because we had
a big, bigger name. I think, uh move to a
different pastures recently, uh, which actually screwed. I'll just lean
into that because it's most recent and the jerk Warntano's
going to the San Antonio Brahmas, and to be fair,
Kellen Man's over there in San Antonio.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
But uh, you know, kind of it feels like a.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
Little bit of a loss to a QB room that
I think a lot of people are still questioning outside
you is what I'm reading the room.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
As you know, you say a loss, but I say,
who is it a loss too?

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Is it a loss to us?

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Or is it a loss to him who's event I mean,
he's ultimately leaving the future championship team. I mean, how
would you feel if knowing that there's a team made
for destiny and you're going to the other team in
Texas who's gonna lose? I mean the Roughnecks, the rough
Necks twelve and zero rough up.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
I am sad to see him go though, you know.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
The unfortunate part, just to bring it back to like
reality a little bit, is he never got his true
fair shake last year with the rough Necks. Right he
came in and he actually there are some promising plays,
and right as he was getting into the mix of it.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
He got it injured. Yeah, is out for a couple
of weeks.

Speaker 3 (19:02):
And I mean even coming back from an injury, you're
coming back from an injury on a short season.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
Uh So, I actually am sad to see him go.
Am I worried? No, I don't put words in my mouth, Zach.

Speaker 3 (19:14):
I would never be worried about the Roughnecks and how
they're about to do this season. But I mean this
is it's a good pick up for the Bramas if
you ask me, quite frankly, I think the Bramas had
you know, we might not have seen a lot of
it in the championship last year. But I think they
did pretty well on defense last year. And you know,
I mean from a coordinator standpoint, I mean they have

(19:37):
all the cool technology in San Antonio to where I
mean I'm curious to see how it works out for him, right.

Speaker 2 (19:46):
Yeah, No, I'm curious as well.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
And again I think a lot of people, you know,
I do see one of the comments from mister Smith
here Bramas Kibi room is questionable, which you know, Hey,
to be fair, we do have to see how right
now your QB room is Kellen Mond, Kevin Hogan, and
now Jared Guarantano. So you know, Guarantano, you as you
brought up there is that potential last year, just didn't

(20:09):
have as much time on the field, and you can question,
you know, whether CJ was uh and his crew were
I think leading offensively in the right direction. But you know,
at least he gets to go over and be in
San Antonio. Who you know we have there's a bit
of a track record there with setting up and getting
some good offensive minds there. I'm curious to know that
thattle plays out because Hogan's been the long has been

(20:31):
the longest of experience.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
Man's been looking to get an opportunity.

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Guarantano is the UFL guy more so so, Uh fascinating
saying that plays out.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
I think people want to see mon play.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
But you know that's gonna be the thing is, you know,
will will AJ's offense work the best with who you know,
That's all that matters at the end of the day.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
So I'm fascinated to see how that goes.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
But yeah, otherwise, I mean, for that sake, like I
don't know, Like clearly they're leaning into Jalen mcclennon over
there in Houston. I think that's who they want. I'm
high on him personally. Now if you go into our discord,
which by the way, PFN discord, check that link in
the description after we're done watching, or now.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
By the way, you can do that too, I'm high
on him.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
I know that he's been around the block, but I
still lean on his performances with the Vipers back in
the XFL two years ago to where I think he
could get his actual legit shot to line up. I mean,
keep in mind, dude was playing behind Jordan Tom. It
was gonna be hard to break through with that. Like
Tom has just got that rep behind him no matter what.
So I'm kind of bullish on him. I'm not saying

(21:37):
bullsh on the rough Necks. I'm bullish on him having
a decent season though, And people aren't expecting.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
Well, I'll tell you what you're not expecting. It's what
you already know. Twelve and oh that's all.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
That's all I gotta say.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Twelve and oh, it wouldn't be a show without without twelve.
And oh I was waiting for the quota. If you
didn't meet quota, I would have to report you to
the office.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
Here's the what's the truth of it, Zach. You could
put me on the field this quarterback for the Roughnecks.
We're winning that game. It is destiny. Destiny it first dude,
Wait a minute, you can't be you can't be refn
QB watch me, watch me.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Who is it? Was it? Expert said something about.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
Uh, Jimmy Buffett being dead, not in this house.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
You know that Firsthand's actual.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Jimmy Buffett lives in spirit, man, Dude, Changes in attitude,
changes in latitude.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
I play that stuff on regular. Dude.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
You'll know when I hit it big with bitcoin, when
I just start wearing like those those button up like
Hawaiian shirts, you'll know.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
You'll know there will be signs.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
Yeah, what do you mean you got a cyber truck
that's painted with tropical birds. Actually, that would be my side, like, oh,
you finally got that cyber truck.

Speaker 2 (22:52):
Wait, how'd you get that cyber truck?

Speaker 3 (22:54):
Yeah, people are still shocked that I want a cyber truck.
I'm like, I'm shocked that you wouldn't there. It's the
coolest thing ever.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
It's because you want to put swingers on it when
you do go to big ones, too big ones. So
someone's already thought.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
That, already saw Now somebody posts I think it is
Paul Wall has one, because he's a Houston boy, and
so I need to go become friend. You know, Paul
Wall paid played a concert like not too far from
my house, not too long ago, kidding. I was about
to go up there and be like, show me this,
show me this cyber truck you got, buddy.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
I need to see it. I need to see it.
I love it, love it.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Little known fact, Zach, years and years and years ago,
I played a show with Paul Wall.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
Did you years and years and years ago?

Speaker 3 (23:42):
I don't know he well, he might right, he might
remember me, but it wouldn't be for great reasons.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
And that's about all we'll leave it anyway.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
The story for another day, off season, off topic coming
later this year.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Yeah, exactly exactly. We got all sorts of goodies. The
Paula episode what you will not want to miss.

Speaker 3 (24:03):
Speaking of teeth, we're shining like a disco ball anyway.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
But what signings do cycling back? Cycling back?

Speaker 1 (24:10):
This is some of this is the bigger I think
meat and potatoes signings I really wanted to hit.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
Because they're there are two.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
There are two that stand out the most people have
talked about this last week and a half. Now between
them coming out, Alex Magoo returns to the Stallions and
also to add on, Louis Prez re signs to the Renegades.
Let's go to the Magoo conversation first. I don't want
to mash them together because they both deserve their time.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
So let's do this. Alex Magoo returns.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Now, we always so here's the thing I always you
and I think many of us do in this community.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
We always hypothesize.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
Maybe guys go to their next screen past year, and
maybe it doesn't work out, and you go, damn, that sucks.
I wonder if he'll come back. And Magoo had remember
set the scene it's twenty twenty three, Magoo goes out
has one of the best spring football seasons as a
quarterback I've seen in my lifetime, not saying the best ever,

(25:12):
because if I did that, I'd have people going Jim Kelly,
Steve Young, like, I'm not gonna be that guy. So
we're not gonna We're not gonna do that. But one
of the best I've watched since I've been following this.
And he goes he lands in Green Bay and tries
to make it as a quarterback, then switches to receiver,

(25:32):
jumps around, is cut later this past earlier, this past year.
No one's been talking about him, but you know a
lot of us think he's not gonna be back at
the scene.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
He's trying to be receiver now.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
And this drops like a hammer, And I'm kind of
blown away because I thought he was done trying to
go back to spring football, and I thought he was
gonna recommit to the receiver discussion to do the NFL angle. Yeah,
and now not to mention it. And we'll keep talking
about this, and I know some of these BM fans
in our chat want to know that corral.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
Was already signed on. You have created the ultimate QB controversy.
I know.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Well, I'm actually curious because we have I mean, Bama boy,
this is the one.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
Who do you think is going to start this game?

Speaker 1 (26:18):
Because this is act believe that will be the poll
is I'm going to put up who are great thing
with live shows? Who is going to win this job?
Magoo or Corral, which, by the way, reconfirming Mgoo is
going to be trying for quarterback.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
We have had multiple people.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
On team, on sources that have said this is a
QB signing. Even if the league pr put receiver, they
probably did it because I was the last position he
played professionally.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
He's a QB.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
So this is a competition right now. But I'm going
to ask you guys what we're doing. But yeah, who
wins this That's the thing. Corral didn't win win the
job last year. He split time, but he was their
apparent Adrian Martinez left for the end. He's got a
he's got a pretty solid spot right now with the Jets,
barring any signings or things. Right now, we're like he

(27:08):
was supposed to be heir apparent this year.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Yeah, I'll be honest, I think I agree with Michael here.
I think Magoo will get the starting role. But what
we saw last year is that skip. Whether you like
it or not, Zach was not afraid of a dual
quarterback setup.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
Oh trust me, I know. I guarantee it's gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
If he's not like fully sold in training camp, it's
gonna happen. I think I think we will see Mgoo's
start that first game at minimum, just as his welcome
back play. Right, I could see him mixing up the
quarterbacks similar to what he did last year, just to

(27:53):
see who he's really more comfortable with.

Speaker 2 (27:56):
Going into the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
But I mean, if you're a fan of any other
team in the league, it is hard to not see
what the Stallions are doing right again and just building.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
A team that is unstoppable. I mean, they got if
they could get past Houston, they can get past anybody.
Zact faking.

Speaker 1 (28:21):
I want to laugh at that, But you're not wrong
given the fact that that is the only team that
seems to consistently and whether it's you know well, and
it's the same iteration with the same staff as the
last time with the Gamblers, it's the only team that
seems to get wins on a regular basis now the promise,
but you know, the Broms basically pulled a Buffalo bills

(28:42):
and didn't show up when it mattered.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
So you know that's the thing.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
Like we remember Summerstock when I said, with my prediction,
you can get a win on Skip. Doesn't mean you're
gonna win twice. He never loses twice in a row
to the same opponent. He always learns. But this is
definitely you know, that dropped like a hammer. You know,
I've been waiting to discuss on a show. We just
had to line it up. It's been busy for us,

(29:08):
you know, but like my god, man, like Matt Corrall, like,
here's my thing. How do you feel is Matt Corral?
Like I will say he's probably gonna play it professionally
because that's how Skip Holtz runs his team, where he says,
look like Alex McGoo knows this too, Like he's the
same guy that lost his job Jmar Smith in twenty
twenty two due to injury and basically had to take

(29:30):
a professional team role and go, hey, I'm gonna be
the professional guy here, but I know I want more.
You know, Corral basically did that last year, like hey,
I'll sit back, I'll let Adrian do his thing. I'll
step in and be a hero. I need to, like
he did against my Panthers. But like that's the thing,
do you do you do it again? Like Corral, I

(29:50):
feel like Kraw's a guy that wants to be the
starter bad But like, how do you leverage that in
the league where it's not like you're looking to get
like you're not getting extra money going out anywhere else.
You're getting the same rate, you know, and you have
to hope to God that a smaller pool of teams
wants you, right, you know, Like I threw out the
hypothetical that he goes to Houston, but like that's but

(30:12):
that's the thing, like do you, hey, why would.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
You trade to someone in your division or your conference?

Speaker 3 (30:17):
And be like, you know, do you want to start
conversation about in division shenanigans?

Speaker 2 (30:24):
Because I got you saw.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
I don't want to stray us away from the stallions here,
But I'm still mad at coaching.

Speaker 1 (30:29):
Coaching signings are different. Pal let's let's let's let's pump
the brakes here a second. That's a free agency choice.
I didn't we didn't trade for the.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Guy I can't believe I didn't bring this up.

Speaker 3 (30:40):
Let's talk about this because this, this is the whole
separate thing for the end of the damn show. Anyway,
go on, you just yeah, you hit a nerve.

Speaker 2 (30:49):
I hit a nerve. Not trading for the guy. It's
all I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
Look, I think what logically will happen because we I
haven't the hypothetical of like seeing these trades where like
we as fans hope to God they send someone because
now the one piece is locked up and you, you know,
want to see like an equal like beginning to like
make the competition that way.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
It's not gonna happen Like I'm.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
I am spitballing this, but reality is that you're gonna
see these two stand the same team. Probably and Skip
knows this too because Skip' seen it. Oh well I
had a QB go down. Well, yeah, I'm gonna do.

Speaker 2 (31:26):
Next man up.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
Oh well, this QB maybe he's having a bit of
a rough patch even though he's the guy I've been
leaning on.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
I'm gonna throw in someone that's a.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
Curveball, and you know do I mean Alex macgoo won
a championship like this for God's sake. You know, he
was the he was the essentially the relief pitch man
and won the first USFL championship by doing this.

Speaker 2 (31:45):
So you're playing right into that.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
My thing is can corral, corral his way, his emotions
in to be that guy again. He did it last year.
That's why I'm bringing this hypothetical.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
Also, I saw you bam a boy.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
It's okay. We'll see how that change. Will see if
that changes this year. I I like my odds, even
though some people in the discord don't agree.

Speaker 2 (32:07):
I like my odds. It's gonna just.

Speaker 1 (32:09):
Lay out there. It's time to hunt. I'm gonna hunt
for horse this year.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
See, that's what's great about the off season. Everybody can
still like their odds.

Speaker 2 (32:19):
This duty.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
The off season is the most opportunistic time of the year.
Everyone looks like a winner if you will close enough
of rose tinted goggles.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
Yeah, I mean, I feel like I'm the only one
with like with like a basis in reality when I
look at the future season.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
I mean, I just I don't understand how anybody.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
You're the You're the You're the You're the freaking point
of reality.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Of course, twelve and zero wait till it happens. People
are gonna write books about this, Zach. People are it
might be me.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Tomes will be laced around the around the former empire
of days of yore, where the mighty Roughneck said, true,
baby has he drilled as he drilled in and found
the wondrous UFL championship you so long craved.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
It's it's gonna feel so good Greek poetry emotion, Zach.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
Even if we win at eleven to one, I'm gonna
be angry twelve an oh or nothing.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
I'd rather win no games than win some games.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
Well, hey, you know, you know, maybe you're right. Maybe
you're right. So we have one thing that this next one.
As we talked, we got Perez on the other end.
Perez doesn't have to deal with this as much now.
I think if a certain mister Baker was in the chat,
he would have a different opinion or maybe a little

(33:39):
bit more on a guy he wants to see. But
let's be honest here, the least pres signs back, and
I'll be frank, a lot of us were a little unshirt.
Perez is on the older side. He's been through the ringer,
not saying his window for NFL's closing, but you know
it's you know, you wonder it comes to the point
we've seen in spring football where you start getting like
your late twenties and early thirties, and you start asking,

(34:01):
do I retire and move on to my next chapter
in my life here or do I give it one
more crack at you know, playing football essentially at this point,
and I think he's got that looks like he's got
that sparkstal And honestly, you know, James put it best
in his news release on this man led the statistics
last year in passing everywhere. He's at the top of

(34:22):
his game, the best we have seen him at this level.
So unless the slump just completely drops this season, I mean,
he's gonna go out and play.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
Question is can.

Speaker 1 (34:34):
The can the Renegades finally address the protection problems that
have been plugging him. Whether he won an XL championship
or not, he is, they have not seem to have
found ways to keep him protected as consistently as they
need to.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
No, No, but like you said, his heart's still in it.
It seems like he's ready to go out there. He's
still up there in the stats. I mean, why would
you stop. Sometimes you look at a team's record and
it's not necessarily indicative of all the players. I know
this for stand as Alliance fan, Zach. I mean, going
to the past, there was times where Matt Stafford was
like an elite quarterback. Did that result in any playoff wins?

(35:10):
Absolutely not? Right now?

Speaker 2 (35:13):
Looking at something like spring football, you know, if I'm coach.

Speaker 3 (35:16):
Stoops, yeah, I'm keeping I'm trying to keep this guy
on my team.

Speaker 2 (35:20):
Yeah, and you know he did win a championship with them.

Speaker 3 (35:24):
It feels like forever ago, but it was only two
years ago, right, And so yeah, with spring football, as
you can see, you can go from being the best
team to go in the worst team and vice versa.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
You can go from being the worst to the first.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
With what we saw with the Malers, we saw it
with the Malers in the USFL. And so you know,
I wouldn't count out the Renegades just yet. I mean,
once they get if they did make it to the championship,
can they beat Houston?

Speaker 2 (35:51):
No, No, absolutely not.

Speaker 3 (35:53):
There's no chance in hell. We already saw what happened.
We already saw what happens.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
That is funny though, because uh yeah, the Texas Texas Showdown.
Last throwdown last.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
Year was you know, that was my favorite game of
the year. Didn't exactly go the way that we all
thought it would, but you know what, exactly how I
thought it would.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
Of course, it went the way next win brother, the
way that's win man, That's game of the season last year.

Speaker 2 (36:23):
Yeah. I mean so, like here's the thing.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
Pres comes back and it basically allows Arlington to kind
of breathe. I think of your fan because like, look,
I know that we have buddies that really like Holton,
al Althars or Allers, and I think that he should,
you know, hopefully get some reps. You know, Luke Lannon
has gotten a lot of, uh I think press for
some of his accolades. They brought him in as well.

(36:47):
But I mean, Pres, that's like the the bona fide
start guy.

Speaker 2 (36:53):
You you you need that.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
And I'll be frank, I've been following up and trying
to be like, hey, let's see how the you know,
how has Arlington been doing with some of these key
guys back, and you know, they've kind of been doing
a good job re upping on keeping their top offensive guys.
You know, they got Deontay Burnett back and I think
he had a year that he wishes he was a
little bit better because he can clearly show out. Tyler

(37:14):
Vaughn's their leading passer, came back this year. They've signed
him back on and they also got as well, you know,
few other pieces that I think offensively, you know, they
at least they can show out they need to fix
their run game. Still, that was something that was not
very very good. It was pretty it was near dreadful
last year. But like they do have the receiving options,

(37:37):
they've always had them, They have had the passing options.
Can they protect their quarterback, which they've been investing a
few linemen this season or in this offseason, and can
they find a way to generate.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
A little bit more on the ground.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
You know, defense is what is another whole thing, and
it's weird that Bob Stoops has been struggling in that department,
But you know, overall, can you find some way to
be a little more consistent because they can be explosive.
We saw they can be explosive, but it always found
they always seem to find a way where they would
stumble at some point in the game on that side
of the ball, and put themselves behind the eight ball,
just a tad yep, yep.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
Yeah. Well, and again that's the beauty of spring football.

Speaker 3 (38:15):
What we saw last year could be completely different than
what we see, you know, coming up this year, which
was completely different than what we saw two years ago. Granted,
they won the championship, right, they didn't have the best record,
but we saw that with the USFL too, with both
the Mallers and the Panthers getting in with a losing record. Right, So,
I mean it happens. This is the beauty of spring football.
I love it, Zach.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
I'm and I'm glad. I love you know what. I
might not be a Renegades fan, but I do love
the king of Spring. I love Louise Perez. I mean
I was there for the Mega Bowl in the Spring League.
He was playing there. I mean, I feel like I've
watched this guy throughout his career, Shouster's legend.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
Dude getting signed up and I, you know what, don't
hold us to it, but I think I think I
checked with James earlier. He said it's basically confirmed. But
if all things go well, we should be having a
little conversation with Louise this Monday on around the UFL.
We're only gonna be talking to a spring football legend.

(39:13):
We're gonna be talking to a bowling legend.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
Zach. Yes, I want to say it's seven perfect games.
It could be more. It could be more. Let me
see this, Louise Perez perfect games. Let's see. But uh,
one of the things that I actually enjoyed about the
USFL is sometimes the lead in was those bowling tournaments.

(39:37):
They were for twelve perfect games. I knew it was more.
They still got to say. PBA is still going strong.

Speaker 1 (39:43):
You know, if you want me to tell the Fox
Fox Horn, they've actually increased their ratings going to Fox
from ESPN, So good for them. Louise has got a
bright future ahead in the PBA circuit if he wants
to as well.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (39:57):
Good, good pick up, good signing, good signing to get back.
I see Bama five. Stop hyping Arlington. I still have
a lot of questions about Arlington that I can't fully
get on board with that team.

Speaker 2 (40:11):
But you know, I got to hype up the best parts.

Speaker 1 (40:14):
I mean, Louis has been you know a lot of
people start throwing around the term King of Spring as
since his signing, and I mean if we're talking a
guy that like King of Spring in terms of like
dude that's been through everything and has gone through all
the big outdoor circuits, like yeah, like we should definitely
recognize that, Like he has made his name as a
Spring football legend in that regard, whether it's the Guardians

(40:36):
back in the original XFL, whether it's with the Arlington
Renegades winning in twenty twenty three. You know, he was
really good with the Generals up until he based got
Stonewall by the Stars, and you know, he's made his
impact everywhere. So you know, got to bring that up.
I'm curious, Zack. I'm gonna put this on this side.
It wasn't a good There.

Speaker 2 (40:55):
Wasn't a good point because I saw it come through,
but we were talking about other stuff, so I just
gotta put it in.

Speaker 1 (40:59):
Now this is glories of a live show. I'm glad
you brought this up, but I'll let you read the
question off. So yeah, I just put up back on
the screen again.

Speaker 3 (41:06):
So how do we feel about the NFL taking everything
from the UFL and not giving any recognition. I would say,
I don't know if they're not giving any recognition.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
The one good thing about watching the NFL on Fox.

Speaker 3 (41:18):
At least they do a good job of shoving in
UFL references now we do. I might just be a
Lions fan, so I might see more of it than
maybe some other games. Admittedly, admittedly because I know with
Jake Bates out there, anytime he's out there or getting
ready to come out there or go back out there,
they're like, hey, did you know he played in the

(41:39):
UFL last year?

Speaker 2 (41:40):
I did? Actually Fox?

Speaker 3 (41:42):
Uh, so I'll give him credit there now. Again, just
to be fair, that could be more of a Fox.

Speaker 1 (41:48):
Thing than an NFL thing, right, Yes, I do think
it's more of a Fox thing. But I will put
my two cents, and I believe that the networks in
at least I think whoever is covering the sport is
getting more used to seeing players come from these leagues
and do well. And I think that's what's changing it.

(42:09):
Like I know NBC as well, Like a few Sunday
Night football games, they didn't bring up some of some players,
but they I noticed this year they got better as
the season went on at like addressing, hey, this is
a spring football player, Like that is to me, what
is a sign that you are starting to have people
take notice.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
A little bit.

Speaker 1 (42:27):
More is when people in that professional space like, yes,
the NFL, I get it.

Speaker 2 (42:31):
The NFL's here.

Speaker 1 (42:32):
We're just trying to exist down here, and you know,
kind of get what is in between to make things
where we can watch football and this business can thrive
in between there. You know, we still we're getting to
that point. But I think it's helpful when you have
it that you can acknowledge on national TV, and that
you have these people and personalities knowledging on national TV

(42:52):
that yeah, these stars come from a different league, and
that they recognize that this league is out.

Speaker 2 (42:57):
There right now. And that's good.

Speaker 1 (42:59):
You know, you want that name circling around, You want
the UFL circling around in media circles or on broadcast.

Speaker 2 (43:05):
So I know that they don't do it with.

Speaker 1 (43:07):
The rules, and I honestly I wouldn't expect the NFL
to do it. The NFL has been like if you
look at the NFL's history in terms of like adopting rules,
like we can go all the way back to the.

Speaker 2 (43:18):
USFL in the eighties, for god's like a.

Speaker 1 (43:21):
Two point conversion. Anyone want to ring that bell? Like
they don't acknowledge where they get these.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
Rules like skycam with the excess Skycam.

Speaker 1 (43:29):
I mean the way this works if you notice, like
all they do is they just go in an owner
sees a rule they like or like something like that,
they propose it as their own or they proposed as
something similar, you know, and they throw it in.

Speaker 2 (43:46):
Now fans will.

Speaker 1 (43:47):
Acknowledge it, like we've seen with you know, with like
the sky Judge, Like there's been more replay assist. NFL
has been adding. It's not exactly one to one with
the sky Judge, but it's getting there. They are trying
to implement slow those elements of hey New York calls
out something to a ref makes them change it real
quick if it's blatant and obvious. You know, we're talking

(44:07):
about the kickoff rule of the XFL. Yeah that people
have recognized that, but like no one in a meeting
is going to just like give like we're not gonna
like that's an ideal world you give credit and you
like go, yes, we credit this, but no, they're not
gonna do that in a pr.

Speaker 2 (44:24):
Like they thought that. They see it.

Speaker 1 (44:25):
It's influence, they bring it in, Analysts will bring it
up maybe, but again the NFL, Like we're talking two
fully different circles. Like our circle is still it's still niche.
It's not as niche as like say me talking arena
football to you folks, right, still niche, Like we're not
it's not fully mainstream yet. We got to keep chugging
along and putting seasons down.

Speaker 3 (44:47):
But we're getting there. We're moving the needle more so. Yeah,
all they're doing is stealing. I don't like, well, that's
how this I mean, I don't know what to tell you.
That's kind of how this stuff works. I mean, I mean,
if we go at it like that rot, then you
could somebody somebody could or probably would make the argument, well,
the UFL stole all of the rest of the rules.

Speaker 2 (45:07):
From the NFL. Then, I mean, I mean, how does
the touchdown work? You know they didn't create.

Speaker 3 (45:13):
Just playing Devil's advocate here, because I actually do know
what you're saying.

Speaker 1 (45:16):
And then you can be and then you can want
to like be really silly with this game, like go
all the way back in the day, Well the NFL
stole from college football, Like we just get like really ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (45:27):
And then somewhere a Canadian would say, well, actually.

Speaker 1 (45:31):
Football comes in and then it just gets becomes a
mess and then you're like, is that a is that
a Dayton Flyers jersey? Me me with like my monthly
jersey because fun fact, Monsey, Indiana did have an NFL
team for a few years.

Speaker 3 (45:45):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (45:45):
Just had to put that in there. Uh.

Speaker 1 (45:47):
But it's a copy sports like this, like football, it's
kind of copycat like, especially with the lower ones, Like
the NFL doesn't have to do anything. The best comparison
I have from just like I fall up on the
auto industry a lot. I like reading up on cars
and all that. The NFL is the Toyota of football.
They They are a very well run and highly regarded company.

(46:11):
They are the top company in the biz. Toyota sells
the most cars in the world. The NFL is the
top tier of football, and it makes the most money
in revenue for any football league in the world. And
they don't have to innovate as much to stay ahead.
They are the gold standard. You expect this to be

(46:32):
the gold standard of football. The UFL and leagues like
the UFL, they kind of have to do extra stuff
to get noticed. Like that's that is the whole bread
and butter that's why you see like rule changes like
we've seen in multiple iterations of the sport throughout the years.
When it comes to like spring football, dating back to
like the eighties and the seventies with the even the WFL,

(46:52):
like we can go all the way back there, it's
always been about how do we differentiate from the gold
standard that is the NFL.

Speaker 2 (46:59):
The NFL has got to do much.

Speaker 1 (47:00):
They can lean and look at these guys, pick what
they feel is right, experiment and throw out stuff as
they need.

Speaker 2 (47:06):
That's that's what the beauty for them. They're the top dog.
They have they don't they don't.

Speaker 1 (47:09):
Have to do anything, and there's really no one threatening them,
not even even more so now than it was forty
years ago. This ain't this ain't USFL freaking out the
NFL ex as exacts. This is the NFL going, oh cool,
this little uh secondary thing that our coaches really like
because it gives players more film. That's neat. They're doing
some neat stuff. Let's let's let's talk friendly with them.

Speaker 2 (47:31):
That's it. That's all this is there, And I'll at
least say that much too.

Speaker 3 (47:35):
Yeah, there's definitely a different additord attitude addit toord attitude
between these leagues than there have been in the past.
When you brought up the USFL of the eighties, in
the NFL, even the XFL original in two thousands was going.

Speaker 2 (47:53):
Trying to come up against the NFL.

Speaker 3 (47:56):
Whereas now, not to say that the UFL is trying
to be a feeder league, but they're open to the idea,
and as we've seen, they're open to experimenting on that. Now,
there's some things that we've seen that just haven't come
into fruition. One of the things being at that second
USFL Championship during the media day, we saw Johnston Moose

(48:17):
Johnston talking about trying to work with some of these
teams to where players' rights would go to that team,
but if they would revert and having some kind of
play to where they could maybe come to the USFL,
but once they were done with the USFL, they would
be reverted back to let's say the Eagles or the
Chiefs or the Lions or whoever might be. To maybe

(48:38):
give the incentive for these teams to say, Okay, well,
I'm not gonna necessarily cut them loose, but I'm gonna
let them go get some more reps under their belt,
and you know what, once they've played there, they're my
player again.

Speaker 2 (48:52):
Right.

Speaker 3 (48:52):
Yeah, we never saw that maybe come to fruition, but
I'd be surprised if those conversations didn't stop. And that's
just one example of how we're seeing spring football leagues.

Speaker 2 (49:02):
Maybe not the UFL.

Speaker 3 (49:04):
Exclusively, but we saw with the XFL trying to do
with their partnership with the whatever they had going on.
It wasn't the NFL, but it was something with the NFL. Yeah,
we see the UFL clearly. They have a good relationship
with the Cowboys because it seems like every year the
Cowboys are that team to make that first signing, right, And.

Speaker 2 (49:23):
Sarah loves his spring football yep.

Speaker 3 (49:26):
And I assume that's because of Mouse Johnston and his
tight relationship with the Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (49:31):
You know, probably honestly, I haven't even given to that
as much thought as they should. But that's honestly a
really great way of putting it, because Darrell still has
a lot of high praise for Dallas. Like that's yeah,
you know, kind of helps when you're you know, too
many legendary fullback that comes from that team that was
on a dynasty stretch, like you know, maybe plays a
little bit into it, just saying.

Speaker 3 (49:53):
Oh, it's got it at least a little bit. I'll
say this just because I saw the results of the
poll are up majority sixty six percent believe Alex Magoo
will be the starter this year.

Speaker 2 (50:05):
For Birmingham, So we will find out.

Speaker 1 (50:07):
I think the only question people had about it is
is he rusty? I would say that if he was,
if he was really serious about coming on back, and
that if these guys feel like he can come in
and play, that I think they wouldn't have I don't know,
I feel like they wouldn't have done this signing because,
like you know, I'm not saying he's not doing these

(50:30):
things on the side, but to me, that signifies that
I think they think he'll be fine.

Speaker 2 (50:35):
You know.

Speaker 1 (50:36):
Keep in mind too, his legs are just as deadly,
like if he needs a little extra time to get
the arm going, like we know he has the cannon
and the accuracy to be deadly everywhere on the field,
but those legs are just as bad, and I think
that's part of what I also think that's part of
why they want this, is like Koral can run, but
he ain't. No Adrian Martinez or Alex Magoo running in

(50:57):
the open field. I'm not gonna sugarcoat that he can
get out there and sprint scramble. Like we saw what
Martinez did last year, we saw what Magoo does, and
Magoo was basically, to me, a better version about Adrian Martinez,
was just saying something about Adrian Martinez of all things too.
So yeah, I mean I'm in that voat. I would

(51:17):
put the vote into say, definitely pick him Agoo, but
we'll find out find out. Speaking speaking of the person
that helped facilitate this, because well, Zach Potter is not
here anymore. You know, we've been they've been trying to
figure out, Hey, who is who's running the show in
the GM position. So we finally get that this recently too,
And I wanted to bring that up because, you know,

(51:38):
big deal, big shoes to fill.

Speaker 2 (51:41):
And so they picked up Paul Rowell.

Speaker 1 (51:43):
He's the new GM for the Stallions, former college scout
in the USFL, is the big type. But unlike Zach Potters,
the fun a lot of NFL experience. That's what's the
difference is they're going to a little bit more veteran guy,
but someone that has passed history, especially with the team
and especially with the league that the team used to
more be in a lot of connections there, of course.

Speaker 2 (52:08):
I mean it is funny you bring up the experience thing.

Speaker 3 (52:11):
They're going almost the complete opposite route as they did
with Zach Potter.

Speaker 2 (52:15):
I understand.

Speaker 3 (52:16):
I mean it feels like you can't strike lightning, can't
strike twice. Right to Fay, Zach Potter was an anomaly
in that he was so young and helped assist not
build one championship team, not two, but three in a row.

Speaker 1 (52:34):
Right, pressure for whoever's coming in, That's all I can say.

Speaker 3 (52:37):
Right, So, I can understand Holts looking at this and saying, look,
I can get another young guy, but what are the chances,
What are the chances that that is happening again? Now,
it could happen. There are guys out there. Clearly it's happened.
But then you look at Roel, Who's coming in thirty
years of experience, right, Zach? I mean thirty years of
it on the ground experience. Also like you met Spring

(53:01):
league experience doing some scouting for the USFL trying to
get some of those guys from college into their pipeline.
I mean if I'm skip Holtz, that's exactly what I'm
looking for. He was doing it on a league level
for the USFL, and now he's doing it.

Speaker 2 (53:17):
Just for his team.

Speaker 3 (53:18):
Yeah, and I mean we're already seeing they the Stallions
didn't lose any steam from last year coming into this year.
We just talked about the big pickup Alex Magoo coming
back to their team. I mean, if you have a
situation where your quarterback room is stacked and you're having
to figure out who we're here, just kind of who's
going to be their starter, I don't think that's a

(53:38):
conversation we're having anywhere else in the league.

Speaker 2 (53:40):
At least in such a positive outlook, right.

Speaker 1 (53:44):
You know, it seems like a win win there. I
mean if you won't even talk about like, you know,
keeping going, you know, keeping steady. I mean just even
yesterday we got we got a or actually today sorry,
Jaron Jones getting picked up, which is a huge name.
As for one of the tackles coming in here as well,

(54:06):
like NonStop that that's is more of a spring name.
But like that being said, the playbook is clearly here
for what this has been the Stallion's bread and butter.
You have someone that not only has their head to
the ground in the scouting department for these younger college
guys looking for their next.

Speaker 2 (54:21):
Step up that we've been seeing.

Speaker 1 (54:24):
They have ties and are they're they're here to play.
They're going to the NFL coffers as well, and going Okay,
let's look for these dudes that have experience that are
just needing the film and we're going to get some
dogs from there that just got let go of scout
teams or just got released. You know, that playbook is
very similar with picking up Paul here. I do see

(54:46):
how that continues what Zach Potter's vision was. And you
know what helps as well, and you know, I think
a lot of people would agree is that Zach Potter
did a lot of the like of already early wage
work before moving to Sacramento State to take up that position.
Like this isn't your starting to like right out of
the gate after Saint after going out of Saint Louis

(55:07):
and getting a shutout victory, like they're already a ton
of signings done. So this is basically like, Okay, Paul's
job is to basically weed out who I need now left,
who I'm going to need when injuries inevitably strike during
the season, and can I continue the same standard moving

(55:29):
forward after this season, whether it is they happen to
get back to the top for championship berth, whether they're
still still doing that. I mean a lot of people
are going to say yes right away to that. But again,
gotta play the season, you know, but like not even that,
but like you slidify that spot with someone and you
hope to God when the inevitable question next year happens,
where is Skip coming back or not? You know, because

(55:52):
we've done this two years in a row at this point,
you know you least have the GM lockdown, is how
I view it.

Speaker 2 (55:59):
Yeah, No, that's a good point. That's a good point.

Speaker 3 (56:02):
I mean that would be if I if I was
a Stallions fans, a Stallions fan, if I saw the
news come through the Skip was a stepping away, I'd
be worried.

Speaker 2 (56:11):
I'd be worried.

Speaker 3 (56:12):
But it does seem like he's setting this team up
for success. I mean, quite frankly, it's one of the
they're so good and again, like you said, we still
have to play the season again, but it feels like
they are just stacking upon what they've already stacked upon.
They're just kind of rolling with the punches like they've
always done, no worries behind them.

Speaker 2 (56:31):
Uh. It kind of feels like it is.

Speaker 3 (56:33):
As long as you keep a good amount of that talent,
you might not even need somebody to the caliber of
a skiphole.

Speaker 2 (56:39):
It's not that you're gonna get away with a.

Speaker 3 (56:41):
With a with a bad head coach, right you you
still need I think a good head coach goes along
with what do you?

Speaker 1 (56:48):
What do you get if you throw a a CJ
onto Birmingham?

Speaker 2 (56:53):
That would be the that'd be twelve And oh wait,
you asked that question. After this season, Zach, you just wait.
Cee J.

Speaker 3 (57:01):
Johnson, him and his iPad. He's gonna make all of
you apologize.

Speaker 2 (57:06):
I love it. We'll see say that goes as always.
I'm ready for it. I hope you all are. I'm
ready for the year coming up. That's less than two
months to go, Zackie boy, I know, less than two
months ago.

Speaker 1 (57:20):
I mean we're shoot, man, I mean, training camp is
gonna be here before you before you know it. That's
really creeping up fast. Say, signings are gonna be finalized here.
I mean you're getting roster capacity pretty close now. And
I think it's as we're seeing with a lot of
these signings lately. Our good buddy Nick Thorne, I think
put it best if I remember if I'm quoting, if

(57:43):
I'm kind of quoting him correctly. You know, now with
the NFL year, you had the reserve and futures contracts
go out. You know, the season's basically starting to wrap
up in the NFL, where like your teams are starting
to lock those like kind of smaller time contracts down
that maybe a lot of these guys that want to
play spring football were looking for. Now they can make

(58:04):
that decision. All right, I'm not getting this. How's my
UFL opportunity still looking? And now they're signing these contracts
back and going in like that. That's why I think
you've seen a lot of these bigger names finally land
on these teams again or like re signs again. So
you know we're getting to that. You know, there's still
a few out there. Mark Gilbert, by the way, I

(58:24):
should mention as well, that was another big name. And
then Matt Mangle today. Yeah, for the Memphis Malers are
taking quite good shape as of Wait.

Speaker 3 (58:34):
Yeah, you're not wrong, but no, I love seeing Matt
Mangle back in because that's another one of these guys
that's been around.

Speaker 2 (58:41):
The spring football, right.

Speaker 3 (58:43):
We saw him all the way back from the original
not the original XVl twenty twenty twenty.

Speaker 2 (58:48):
Sorry but you get my point. Yeah, not that far back.

Speaker 3 (58:52):
But I mean he knows, he knows the stuff, and
he's he's a fun personality on the internet, so you
kind of I love that for the league.

Speaker 2 (58:59):
League.

Speaker 1 (59:00):
The league needs more personalities anyway, Like you got your
Darius Victors, your Jay Sternberger's.

Speaker 2 (59:05):
I mean, I'll take all them. Jase is the character man.
Sign Jason, I'll take them all.

Speaker 1 (59:11):
Like that's the stuff that drives interest, is not only
the play, but like the people behind the play, you know,
Like I'm waiting for Darius Victor still gets signed back.
I'm hoping to god he does not get left on
off the sideline.

Speaker 2 (59:23):
I do mean it. The man is.

Speaker 1 (59:26):
A human being. He needs to be on one of
these teams. He's a great sideline interview and we didn't
have as gonna be your last year, but he should
be on a team.

Speaker 2 (59:33):
Damn it. I need to see him back. The thighs
save lives. Damn right they happen. Goddamn right they do.
What a fun week?

Speaker 3 (59:42):
And like I said, Monday, Monday, Monday, Monday, big a
tu If all things goes as plan, we should have
Louise Fores there. If he's not on there that week,
he'll be on there the next week. So this is
why you need to subscribe. Click the Battle of Bilds
morell let you know when we're live, just like we're
gonna be soon with not all only the spring football legend,
but the bowling legend and some Louise Perez. I mean,

(01:00:07):
before we kind of wrap things up, Zachie boy, super
Bowl is coming up.

Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
I don't know if we're going to record another one
of these episodes. We might talk about it Monday.

Speaker 1 (01:00:17):
Do you want to save the predictions? Oh wait, crap, No, no,
we can do this. Yeah, let's save a prediction for Monday. Okay, Well,
well the bigger, well, the big, bigger panel might be
one of the bigger ones we've had in a little bit,
depending on how many people are available, depends what the
weather's like in the trip.

Speaker 3 (01:00:31):
So the weather's like in Michigan on Monday, Oh my.

Speaker 2 (01:00:38):
God, never will get old.

Speaker 1 (01:00:43):
But well, let's save it for then and we'll drop it.
I I have my thoughts. That's all I'm gonna say.
You get rematch, Get Rematch part two? Electric Google wo
is what's happening?

Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
We we all know the deal. So then, Zach, you
know what that leaves us to.

Speaker 3 (01:01:03):
It should be illegal for the Chicago Bears to hire
Ben Johnson away from the Detroit Lions during the playoff.
Maybe that was the asterisk that I should have left
in there.

Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
Because I'll tell you what, Zach. I put my opinion
on the internet, and for some reason, YouTube.

Speaker 3 (01:01:24):
Decided we don't want Lions fans to see this opinion.

Speaker 2 (01:01:28):
And I'll tell you Zach, I looked. I was like, Okay,
let's see what keywords it's picking up.

Speaker 3 (01:01:32):
Ben Johnson, Chicago Bears, Chicago Bears, pocket, No, give it
to the Lions fans.

Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
YouTube.

Speaker 3 (01:01:39):
So here I am getting painted up in the comments
from a bunch of Bears fans who apparently take things
very literal. I don't think it should literally be illegal
in that you should be sent to prison. No.

Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
I understand that, yes, it's.

Speaker 3 (01:01:54):
Not against the actual literal law book, but it should
be against the NFL rules Zach too. Okay, even if
you're not in the division, you shouldn't be allowed to
be interviewing coaches that are still coaching in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
I think that should be a rule. But okay, fine,
you're gonna let him.

Speaker 3 (01:02:12):
Sure, absolutely not in the division, Zach, you should be
as angry as I am if we if your team
was good, let's start there.

Speaker 2 (01:02:20):
If your team was good, good, yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:02:23):
And you were like the number one team in the NFC,
and then you bungled you in the in the in
your first game in the in the playoffs, and then.

Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
Two days later, two days later.

Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
Your offensive corner is like, Hey, I'm the Lions head coach,
Now what what would you think?

Speaker 2 (01:02:38):
You would be just as pissed as I am. Don't
tell me you wouldn't be. I'd be mad.

Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
But you know my counterpoint is, maybe you shouldn't choke
in the divisional round.

Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
Maybe we shouldn't have a head coaches about to leave
right divisional rival making decisions.

Speaker 2 (01:02:53):
In the game. Not letting Sonic the Hedgehog. I know
he's not signing that. People just call him Sonic.

Speaker 3 (01:02:59):
I'm calling him Sabers the hedge on Jamar Gibbs run
that ball.

Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
Because what we saw the following week, what happened.

Speaker 3 (01:03:05):
To the commanders the next week, they got tore up,
They got torp Why did they get tore up?

Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
Because they run the ball, Run the ball. Just send
them out there, send them out there. Oh my god. Yeah, Well,
I don't know how we didn't talk about it.

Speaker 3 (01:03:18):
I'm convinced you're just doing this to test your camera
at this point, because I'm.

Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
Watching that thing.

Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
That's I am fully in belief you're just doing it
for the camera test.

Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
Who knows, well, I can see my hairs going, it's
coming out of the hat.

Speaker 2 (01:03:33):
I'm how you know I'm in a mood.

Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
I always tell people you can always tell about what
mood I'm in by how big my hair is.

Speaker 1 (01:03:40):
My counterpoint, my put my counterpoints are are and I'm
gonna I'm gonna drop it so I don't care tough
shit and.

Speaker 2 (01:03:47):
Don't don't choke. I don't know what to say.

Speaker 1 (01:03:51):
You know, Yes, the report did come out this week
that uh, he did talk to Dennis Allen earlier in
the season after he got fired for this job. You
know what, do you damn job and win and get
to the Super Bowl. I was in your corner. And
unfortunately the guy that I rep hard and have to
defend a lot for my buddy who apparently.

Speaker 2 (01:04:11):
Despises Jared Goff.

Speaker 1 (01:04:13):
I love Jared Goff as a quarterback, and he let
me down in the divisional war.

Speaker 2 (01:04:18):
Oh he let us all done.

Speaker 4 (01:04:19):
Although I will say the commanders got away with a
good one when they when they knocked Jared Goff on
the head when Goff thro they had interception.

Speaker 3 (01:04:30):
If that was Patrick Mahomes, we know what that call
would have been. They wouldn't even have They would have
said lion's touchdown. If that was Patrick Mahone, I guess
chiefs touch up. They would have said, we're just giving
them a touchdown for that, because that's inevitably what's gonna
happen after we penalize you, as much as we're about
to penalize you for hitting the.

Speaker 2 (01:04:50):
Quarterback like that.

Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
Man, I will say this, if it was reverse, yeah,
I would say the same thing you said, Zach A
tough shit.

Speaker 2 (01:04:58):
Get over it? What are you gonna do? Don't this?
And that you've.

Speaker 3 (01:05:02):
Met your super Bowl though we haven't even gotten there,
and now.

Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
You're gonna come back next year. I mean, I don't.
Maybe maybe we will, maybe we won't.

Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
I don't even my guy, I was born ten years
after that. I have no connection. The O six Super
Bowl is the closest thing. But like we had no
chance against Peyton Manning in two thousand and six, you.

Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
At least got there. And so that leads me to
my next point. Zach, I curse.

Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
The ref curses the Bears to not win a championship
for the next forty years. Yeah, yeah, Bobby Lane's not
the only one that could do it, Buddy, I.

Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
Help you enjoy it.

Speaker 1 (01:05:43):
I'm already in forty years and I'm already here. What
do you want?

Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
What do you want from me forty more years? Buddy?
Hope you enjoy I hope it was worth it. Well,
Ben Johnson was worth it, Buddy, I certainly hope it is.
You're talking to like the most reserved Bears fan of
the bid, because like feel bad.

Speaker 1 (01:06:04):
In reality, I should be way more hyped about that move,
and I'm I'm more like, okay, cool, let's let's let's
win some football games now. Instead of I could go
into a whole Bears podcast about this. I don't want
to do this, do that, or I don't want to
do that right now because I will get into a
sad Bears fan.

Speaker 3 (01:06:23):
You don't want to get hyped up comments. You don't
want to see sad Zach. Sad Zach is not it's
not good. People will want to leave a media.

Speaker 2 (01:06:35):
Well, I have a feeling you're going to be happy
Zach next year because our offense was pretty good. We'll
see it does sting, It does sting. Finally, we're a
good team.

Speaker 3 (01:06:44):
We don't just lose our offensive coordinator, we lose our
defensive coordinator too.

Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
Oh I got at least that went to the Jets.
The whole talent drain.

Speaker 1 (01:06:51):
I mean you you want to pull up the whole list.
It's like it's near the whole staff at this point.

Speaker 3 (01:06:57):
And yeah, I know, And it's real fun to see
them go to both the and the Jets.

Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
At least the Jets. It's like, okay, they're not in
the division now.

Speaker 3 (01:07:06):
The only thing that we're the only thing worse than
this is if he would have signed with the Packers.

Speaker 2 (01:07:11):
Oh if he would have signed Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (01:07:13):
Oh yeah, it it'd be FTP Mike forever.

Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
It already is.

Speaker 1 (01:07:19):
But like I mean, you might as well just spam
it every every like two or three hours.

Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
At that point, Yeah, gotta met again. It could be worse.
It could be worse. I'll take it. I'm glad you
you're at least it's your team. I like you. But
if it was like again the Packers, I don't you
might I might have just given up.

Speaker 1 (01:07:39):
I might have just I I like the Lions fan
fan base a lot.

Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
There are.

Speaker 1 (01:07:47):
My fan base is hard to like. I'll be honest
with you, but yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:07:52):
That's just me.

Speaker 1 (01:07:53):
I worked through a lot with being with wearing the
Navy and orange.

Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
Oh to be an NFL North fan, And I mean,
look at us. Look at our sad sack teams in
the playoffs this year.

Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
We were We.

Speaker 3 (01:08:05):
Came in as the hardest division in the league. Couldn't
even get the three teams that made it, couldn't even
get a.

Speaker 2 (01:08:12):
Damn win, all punted first game. Who would have damn
shame shame. Well that was my rant. That's all I have.

Speaker 3 (01:08:21):
I will say, I'm gonna use this as an opportunity
to plug my other channel. If you do want to
go see me ranting about this in a more longer form.
It's a longer it's like three minutes, so it's probably
shorter than I was young.

Speaker 2 (01:08:34):
It's over there and I am dropping a video.

Speaker 3 (01:08:36):
I won't spoil it, but it is in regards to
the super Bowl and who will.

Speaker 2 (01:08:40):
Or will not win.

Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
There might be a couple of videos after I talked
to Zach, so we'll see how funny we want to
get with it.

Speaker 2 (01:08:47):
But that'll drop probably Monday or something. I don't know.
It's coming. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:08:51):
Just look up the ref sets you'll find you'll find
his stuff. It's exactly Yeah, his Bears.

Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
One I thought was pretty hilarious, and I would say
Bears fans in their own way agreed.

Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
It's probably the best way I can point it in YouTube.
I mean, what are you doing to me here?

Speaker 3 (01:09:06):
I will say I was shocked that the YouTube algorithm
even pushed it out because I have not dude, it
has been two years since I've uploaded a video to
that channel.

Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
So that's what's crazy. Is that used to be what
this channel is now? Yeah, we just swapped them this,
so I figure why no, I mean, it's sitting there,
might as well use.

Speaker 2 (01:09:25):
It's got a whole boatload of stuff on there.

Speaker 3 (01:09:27):
So anyway, more content more content to look forward to,
and then Monday we got even more years seven years
of content coming and what.

You want to?

Speaker 3 (01:12:00):
When I go up your chest, shit, I can probably
pull out a rant if I want to. There was
actually something I was thinking about and I just can't
remember what it was, but uh, I don't know.
