Callarogashark Media. Welcome back to theWeekly Mac. I'm your host, Mac
Davies, and we've got a packedshow for you today, including some juicy
updates on the former president's fast foodhabits. Before we start, just a
reminder that not only do I hostanother podcast, Ballot where Politics Intersects Popular
(00:26):
Culture, this week, I'm alsohosting five daily trivia questions. The topic
is presidential history, So check outfive Daily Trivia Questions and Ballot wherever you
get your podcasts. Now, let'sstart with a presidential story. It seems
Donald Trump's staffers just can't get enoughof that McDonald's fix, even in the
midst of a high profile trial.According to reports, the team has been
(00:48):
making repeated visits to a local McDonald'slocation near the New York City courthouse where
Trump's hush money trial is taking place. In fact, the staffers spent another
five hundred dollars at this same Donald'son Tuesday, picking up twenty seven quarter
pounders, twenty seven fries, fileofish burgers, and chicken nuggets, and
just like last time, they didn'teven leave a tip, as one anonymous
(01:11):
McDonald's employee told dailymail dot com Trump'speople came back in today for lunch and
told us not to tell anyone abouttheir order this time. Now we all
know Trump has a well documented loveaffair with McDonald's. His go to order
is apparently two Big Max, twofileofish and a chocolate malted milkshake, and
(01:32):
he's been spotted indulging in the Goldenarches everywhere, from the White House to
his personal recovery from COVID nineteen. In fact, back in twenty nineteen,
during a government shutdown, Trump actuallyordered McDonald's and other fast food totaling around
five five hundred dollars to feed theClemson University football team when the White House
kitchen wasn't open, and in anow viral tweet, the Commander in Chief
(01:57):
even accidentally referred to the fair ashamburgers. Looks like the former president's affinity
for fast food is still going strong, even as he faces legal troubles.
You know what they say, whenthe going gets tough, the tough get
McNuggets. All right, let's switchgears now and talk about something a little
sweeter. McDonald's secret menu items. The chain recently launched a remixed menu promotion
(02:21):
up in Canada, partnering with rapperLil Yachti to highlight some classic off the
menu creations. These include the ChickenCheeseburger, a combo of a crispy chicken
patty and a beef patty, aswell as the Surf and Turf Burger,
which stacks two beef patties with afileofish. And for dessert, there's the
apple Pie Mcflurry, which blends anentire McDonald's apple pie into the vanilla soft
(02:42):
serve. While the special Remix menuis only available in Canada, the good
news is you can actually order mostof these secret menu items here in the
US by just requesting the components separately. As one McDonald's spokesperson put it,
by putting them on an official menu, the chain locks down the recipe for
the now not secret menu item, which makes it easier for anyone to order
(03:04):
the needed parts to make the items. This isn't the first time McDonald's has
tapped into the popularity of its secretmenu. Last July, the chain actually
promoted four fan favorite hidden items, the Surf Plus Turf, Hash Brown,
McMuffin, Crunchy Double, and LandAir and Sea as part of a limited
time secret Menu promotion. So ifyou're feeling adventurous, next time you head
(03:27):
to the Golden Arches, don't beafraid to ask for something off the beaten
path. You never know what deliciouscreations you might uncover. And next,
we're heading overseas to Indonesia, whereMcDonald's has rolled out a pretty wild new
offering, a wedding catering package. That's right, you can now tie the
knot with a side of Big Maxand McNuggets. The all inclusive package,
(03:49):
priced at around two hundred and fifteendollars, includes a whopping one hundred mcchickens,
one hundred nugget boxes or one hundredBig Max to feed your wedding guests.
As a low McDonald's exec Risky Haryatiexplained, many customers told us that
they dated here at McDonald's and wantedto make the full circle of their relationship
where it all began. This isn'tthe first time McDonald's has dipped its toes
(04:14):
into the wedding business. The conceptactually originated in Hong Kong back in twenty
eleven. Their deluxe package over therecan cost up to twelve hundred dollars and
includes amenities like a two hour restaurantrental and a master of ceremonies. But
the Indonesian version seems to be abit more straightforward, focusing just on the
catering rather than venue rentals and otherevent services. As Hariyati clarified, the
(04:39):
package doesn't cover venue rentals at McDonald'slocations, but focuses solely on food,
much like a traditional catering service. Now, there's no word yet on whether
this unique offering will make its wayto other countries, but for the true
McDonald's superfans out there, a bigmacfueled wedding reception might just be the stuff
of dreams. Just don't forget thesechuan sauce. More in a moment.
(05:10):
All right, let's move on toour next story. Taco Bell is getting
in on the Taco Tuesday action, but with a twist. The chain has
announced a new Taco Discovery Box dealthat'll be available every Tuesday for just five
dollars. So what exactly do youget in this box? Well, it
includes a canteena chicken crispy taco, two classic tacos of your choice like the
Dorito's Locos taco or regular Crunchy Taco, and a medium fountain drink. Normally,
(05:36):
ordering those items individually would set youback over eleven dollars, so yeah,
this is a pretty sweet deal.To really maximize the savings, Taco
Bell is suggesting you order two Dorito'sLocos tacos in your Discovery box, which
would typically cost over twelve dollars ontheir own. That's an even bigger bargain.
The Taco Tuesday promotion is running fromnow through June fourth, so you've
(05:59):
got a decent win to take advantageof it. And as we all know,
the key to saving money at TacoBell these days is all about catching
those limited time deals and promotions, because, let's be real, with items
like the seven dollars and seventy ninecent Nacho's Belgrande and six dollars and nine
cent cheese Cassodia, the value partof the Cravings Value menu is starting to
feel like a bit of a stretch. But hey, at least this Taco
(06:23):
Discovery Box is giving us something toreally get excited about. All right,

sweet orange flavor pairs perfectly with theirsignature hot and crispy fries. Whether you're
