I think it's in our best interest to stop talking about Trump running for VP... especially now that he's said it's "not cute" and that Vance or Rubio would be great Presidents.

Speaker 1 (00:01):
The news, opinions, commentary, and interviews you need to start
your day. You're listening to the West Carrol Morning Show.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Tuesday morning, twenty eighth day of October. I'm Wes. Thanks
for starting your day with me, having your coffee with me,
your ride to work, your ride home from work. I
don't know whenever you're listening, so used to it being morning,
and that was the idea that I would have it
ready for you every morning. That's the reason it's still

(00:32):
called a morning show. And I've done a morning show
for so long since O seven, It's been like eighteen years,
so and I kind of missed it, I guess at
the beginning of the month. I don't know if I
talked about it, but I had another anniversary for my
time in radio, thirty one years in broadcasting, so I
kind of blew past that, coming up on two thousand

(00:54):
podcasts that I have produced and been in, and I
guess if you count the times that I've been interviewed,
maybe I've already surpassed that as far as content goes.
But still having fun doing it and still appreciate you
joining me for it every day or however many times
a day, or maybe I've got a few friends to say,
I'm getting caught up. That's fine too. An important thing

(01:17):
is this that you get there, you know, just listen.
That's all I want. That's what we want for the
support side of it is just the listening. So it's appreciated,
and I'm sure I'll thank you again at the end
of the show. I tend to do that. A couple
quick things. November first, Saturday, It's happening at six pm
at the Coca Cola Space Science Center inside the planetarium. There.

(01:37):
It is Made of Stars the podcast live, I think
where we're just calling it made of Stars Live. Either way,
we're going to do the podcast hopefully with you in
attendance checking it out with us this weekend, Saturday, six pm.
It's a free event. You don't need a ticket. You
just need to show up. Bring your family, bring your friends.
If there is someone in your life that is interested

(01:59):
in podcasting, if there is someone in your life that
is interested in space, space news and astrophysics and all
those fun things, by all means, please bring them along.
And I mentioned this a couple times. I've got people
that have told me, Hey, my kid would love to
come watch you put one of your podcasts together and

(02:20):
it's like it's not overly exciting. It's just sitting there
watching me talk when I'm at home in my studio.
Put us in front of an audience, it'll be a
much more fun experience. That's my thinking on it. And
you put me and doctor Sean Cruisin from the Coca
Cola Space Science Center together in front of an audience,
we'll have a good time. We'll cover the topics that

(02:41):
we cover on the show each week. We'll give you
an opportunity maybe to ask some questions, and we'll work
whatever we can into the show, and then that will
be the show for not this week, but hopefully for
next week. So that's the way it's going to work.
Six o'clock. Immediately following, they will have the Astronomy Night,
which is a regular event at the Cocola Space Science Center,

(03:02):
and doctor Rosa Williams and company will run through what
you'll get a chance to see in the sky, weather permitting,
assuming that we'll have nice skies for you. But she'll
talk about whatever's going on in the sky just the same,
and hopefully you'll get a chance to look through the
telescopes with her and her team there, So it's happening Saturday,

(03:24):
six pm. Immediately following will be the Astronomy Night and
we hope to see you there. And just a quick
mention again about the Nutcracker. Come see us as we
put on the great annual Tradition family experience that is
the Nutcracker. Rivercenter Box Office, Rivercenter dot org. Thecolumbus Ballet

(03:44):
dot Org is where you get your tickets. My seventh
time in the role of the Mother Ginger, we're close
to having a promo together for that that we worked on.
I got a little look at the rough cut the dailies,
if you will, and actually it's more than the day.
It's mostly put together and it's I think that they
did a great job putting it together and I'm happy

(04:07):
to be a part of it as always. And I
met my new poly Co stars, the Paula Chanel's that
I'll be dancing with this year over the weekend and
really excited about getting back on stage with them. All Right,
I want to talk about something that has been floating
around for a while and it just won't seem to

(04:28):
go away, in spite of the fact that I think
the question has been answered a few times by the president,
and it's just one of those things that I feel
like it needs to really be addressed. And I think
we may have talked a little bit about it before,
but the fact that there are a number of people

(04:49):
that I know that continue to bring it up. Someone
that I got to know that was running for the
House representatives over the years of me doing this job
has recently posted it again and shared it, and I
think they're just kind of trolling people with it. I hope.

(05:12):
I don't know that there's a need to do that.
That's why I'm not saying who it is, but that's
you know, people control. There's things that I have done
over the years that certainly fall under the category of trolling.
I don't think I do any sort of trolling when
it comes to politics, not in the last twenty years.
I probably maybe not in the last twenty I don't know.

(05:34):
There's a point where I stop. There's a point where
I realized it's just silly that social media and it
could be used for so much more than just you know,
politics all the time. But in this case and this,
people are within their rights to do whatever they want
to do. And this particular person shared this again, and

(05:55):
it started some more conversations. There's already some conversations going.
I don't think they started them, but they started conversations
with some of the people they're connected with. And I
feel like it's worth addressing it again. And this is
something that has come up a number of times, and
one of the people who Steve Bannon, is one of

(06:15):
the ones who keeps saying it, and I guess publicly
has said it, and it's his quote that keeps coming up.
But this idea, this notion that Trump will continue to
be president beyond this term, and the idea is in
early in this second presidency, Trump made a comment where
he just sort of said that, you know, there would

(06:38):
be people that would love for him to be president
beyond this term, and that he had people looking into
how he could do that and these sorts of things,
and I think he was trolling. Now, let me say this,
I think when you are you have the job, and
you're and you're Donald Trump, the trolling is to be

(07:01):
I don't think you should expect anything else from him.
That would be like, you know, being surprised. You know
that if you had Siegfried and Roy surprised that the
lion attacked one of them. It's a lion. If you're
surprised that Trump is doing this, you haven't been paying attention.
And that's the reality. And now we can make the
case all day about whether it's necessary, whether he should

(07:24):
be doing it, all those things. That's all conversation to have.
I wish some of this kind of talk would would
certainly go away because I don't think it's productive and
I don't think it's constructive in any way. And there's
a few things I'll get to on the back end
of it, but anyway, so people started looking at what
would be the justifiable reason that he could serve another term.

(07:47):
And the idea that was floated around and has been
floated around is that, you know, you can only be
elected to two full terms, but there's that two year
window like two terms or I'm sorry, or ten years.
So it's the two four year terms and then there's
a two year thing there where for example, if for

(08:12):
some reason JD. Vance were to become the current vice president,
were to become the president and serve two years, he
would still be eligible to be elected two more terms
if he became president with three years to serve, and
then he would only be eligible for one more term.
That's the idea, is that you can only serve up

(08:33):
to ten years as president. Now, some people have tried
to say, wow, it says you can only be elected twice.
So if hypothetically JD. Vance runs for president in twenty
twenty eight and Donald Trump runs as his vice president

(08:57):
and then he steps down, JD. Vance steps down, Trump
could then be the president again. Now, technically, by the
way it's worded, we're saying basically that could only be
possible for two years anyway. But it's one of those
thought exercises when it comes to the law, like you're
trying to find the loophole or whatever. Now, Trump, since

(09:21):
all of this conversation, has now said more than once
and again just recently. I guess, like I don't know
yesterday or day before it's come I think it was
on the plane maybe, but he someone asked him about
it because it keeps coming up, and he basically said, look,
this is we got other great people to move this

(09:43):
past this on to. He says, we have great people.
I don't have to get into that, but we have
one of them standing right here. We have jd. Obviously
the vice President is great, Marco is great. I think
I'm not sure or if anybody would run against those.
I think if they ever formed a group, it would

(10:05):
be unstoppable. He went on to talk about Democrats. He says,
they have Jasmine Crockett, a low IQ person. They have
AOC's low IQ. If you give her an IQ test,
have her pass. Like the exams that I decided to
take when I was at Walter Reid, I took those very,
very hard. They're very they're really aptitude tests, I guess

(10:27):
in a certain way, but they're cognitive tests. Let AOC
go against Trump, Let Jasmine go against him. He went
on to say. He says, the first couple of questions
are easy. A tiger, an elephant, and a giraffe, you know,
and then you get up to five or six, and
then you get up to ten twenty twenty five. They
couldn't come close to answering any of those questions, So

(10:47):
that's what he says. He says, when asked specifically about
whether or not he would want to run as the
vice president, he says that he would be allowed to
do that, calling it though too cute. While I guess

(11:14):
on the plane a press reporter asked, is it the
White House or the White House's counsel or your legal
position that you could do that? And he says, you'd
be allowed to do that, but I wouldn't do it.
I think it's too cute. That's the way he worded it.
All right, So couple things here, and I've seen a
few people that are diehard Trump supporters, including this person
who ran for the House. And again, I'm not knocking anybody,

(11:37):
like you do your thing. There's so much going on
behind the scenes. If I've learned anything in the eighteen
years that I've been covering politics, I've learned there's a
lot more going on behind the scenes than anyone can
fully understand. I've had the privilege of having the curtain

(11:58):
pulled back for me few times. It's a little scary,
be honest with you. There's things going on that you
probably should know. But I think many people will happily
keep their blinders on and say, well, that might affect
the way that I would It would affect the way

(12:19):
that I vote, It would affect the way that I
make decisions about how I vote. And it's some pretty
scary stuff. You start talking about candidates that are manufactured,
and Trump addressed two of them, AOC and Jasmine Crockett,
are not the people that are put forward for us

(12:40):
zoron Mom Donnie is not the person that's been put
before us. They're just not. This is not who these
people are. They're putting on an appearance, a public appearance.
It's almost an improv show. They're very calculus, very coordinated.

(13:01):
And the way that the support has come in for
these people to put them in positions to try to
create a eventually a long term candidate. Mam Donnie obviously not.
He's a Uganda born great by the way, over the
weekend addressing by Bill Maher that Mam Donni comes, he

(13:25):
still has a dual citizenship with Uganda, a country that
would kill you for being homosexual, and that he should
renounce that citizenship because of that. And you know there's
people saying, well, why should he renounces anyway, So we

(13:48):
have a situation here with the president where I mean,
even if he could still serve as vice president, you
create this dynamic of why would why would we want
to welcome this in? Why do we want to welcome
in the oh? And I don't know to finish the

(14:10):
thought But my point about the person who was running
for the House, he can say what he wants to
say because he's he may be playing a long term
game with that, and I don't know, I don't know
what he's doing, but he's I defend his right to
say whatever he wants to say about all this. But
my point is, I think we by having this conversation
where we run the risk of opening up the door

(14:33):
for someone else to try to do this. What happens
when it's a candidate that you don't like. What happens
when it's the other party that says we want to
try to stay in power forever, We want to get
an AOC elected in her thirties and try to keep
her in office as long as possible, and find some
ways to help make that happen a manufactured candidate. What

(14:57):
happens when it's not what you want? And and now
you run the risk of creating this dynamic where you're
basically saying someone could get in and just keep running
and be the vice president and then have someone step
down for him. First of all, can you imagine asking
jd Vance or Marco Rubio to win an election and

(15:17):
then step down as president of the United States, so
that Donald Trump could then become the president again. That's
a hard ask, It's an unreasonable and unfair ask for anyone.
And it sounds like Trump has thought all this part
through and I think he understands we're getting to a
stage where age is going to be a factor. If

(15:39):
he could run again, age would certainly come up even more.
It's already starting to come up. On the left, they
don't I don't think that they have figured out yet
that he is not running again. I don't think that
they understand that they're not running against him anymore. He
is finishing things out. There's still a way to go,

(15:59):
there's still but they should be focusing on the midterms.
I think they're putting midterms in jeopardy with Mom Donnie.
Some people are starting to say, nah, that's not going
to be the case. They certainly have a very powerful
group behind the scenes that are doing everything they can
to change America as we know it. The people behind

(16:20):
Mom Donnie are certainly in that, and it's people like
George Soros, who has given you know, two and a
half million dollars. I think, according to there's a Fox
Fox News Digital investigation into it. And there's also you know,

(16:41):
some of these groups that are supporting him from behind
the scenes that he has been supportive of and worked with. Sorry,
Fox Digital is the one who did the investigation and
not a coincidence. Again, this is a manufactured candidate. Linda
Sarsawer and others have done everything they can and to
make this someone through their my Muslim vote dot org

(17:05):
that they work together on. So this is been doing
this for over five years, five six years. They've been
working together in some capacity, according to this particular research
done by Fox Digital and I'm quoting that source. But anyway,

(17:26):
so why would we want to create this dynamic? Why
would we want to make this ask of someone who
could win the presidency and be the president? Why would
why would we want to do that? Why don't we
want to stir this pot again and try to create
this dynamic of a president who doesn't want to leave office,
even though he himself is saying no, this isn't going
to happen, This isn't how it's going to play out.

(17:49):
And I think for the people that are continuing to
say it, you know, you have Bannon and others that
are continuing to to bring this up as if it's
someone who is not going to leave office, even though
he himself has said that I just gave you the quote.
This is too cute. And I think we need to

(18:10):
get to a point where we realize there are other Republicans,
other Conservatives who can step in and be president, and
I think Vance and Rubio are I think Rubio has
really has done a lot, He's added a lot to
his resume during this Trump administration, and I think that

(18:33):
he would be a very strong candidate. And I think
folks on the left would have to try to navigate
this idea of a Hispanic American running as a Republican
and they would really struggle to try to figure out
how are they going to compete against that and try
to do something that hasn't been done before. And we've

(18:55):
already seen some of the challenges if they try to
just play this as a race based decision on who
their candidate is. If Republicans are just organically producing someone
who happens to be Hispanic, I think it creates a
really odd challenge for Democrats in this next election. Today's

(19:17):
show brought to you by Columbus State University's Coca Cola
Space Science Center inspiring and educating the youth and future
STEM leaders and STEM career holders that really of all ages.
I mean they do it for school age kids as
school age kids visit the Coca Cola Space Science Center,
but they also do it through their university programs where

(19:40):
you can learn engineering, astronomy, physics, and the careers in
space and STEM fields are booming right now, and you
can learn more about maybe getting your degree on their
website CCSSC dot org. While you're there, also check out
some of their upcoming programs. They've got this incredible collaboration

(20:04):
that they do with the schwob School of Music from
Columbus State University called Music under the Dome. It's unlike
any concert experience that you can get anywhere else. It's
one of those things that when you're watching it in Columbus, Georgia,
you think, is this really in Columbus, Georgia. I mean,
this is a major city attraction that happens right here

(20:26):
in Columbus inside the planetarium at the Coca Cola Space
Science Center and the new season of Music under the Dome.
Check out upcoming dates for the shows and also check
out when the next Astronomy Night's coming up where you
can get outside. Sometimes you do it at the Co
Cola Space Science Center. Sometimes you get outside somewhere outside

(20:47):
the city lights. You don't want any light interference, and
you can do that as well. Upcoming Astronomy Night events.
Also on their website, it's CCSSC dot org. As Sean
Cruisin says Charlie. Charlie SamSam, Charlie, I just remind you
that it stands for Coca Cola Space Science Center CCSSC

(21:07):
dot org. Today's show brought to you by Overhead Door
Company of Columbus for all of your garage door needs,
commercial or residential. Maybe you have regular maintenance that it's
time for. It's always good to get maintenance on anything
that has parts that move and have electronics. The folks
at Overhead Door Company of Columbus can take care of

(21:30):
squaring that away for you, and while they're there, you
can always ask them questions about some of the maybe
cosmetic changes you'd like to make to your garage door.
Maybe your curb appeal isn't quite what you want it
to be and you need some repair work done to
the outside door. Maybe you need a brand new garage
door completely. Maybe it's making a noise when your garage

(21:50):
door opens and closes. Maybe it's some sort of installation
issue that you've got. With colder or warmer weather, sometimes
that stuff gets in and it's inconvenient. Maybe you're looking
at a situation where you'd like to add a screen
door to your garage door system that you can put
down and you can use your garage space as a
sort of outdoor but indoor. You know, if you like

(22:12):
to work on your own cars in there, or maybe
you just want a little man cavid you'd like to
be able to open the door up and not invite
all the insects in. They can do that for you
as well, and again they do after hours calls. There's
nothing worse than that thought of having your car trapped
inside your garage and your garage door won't open and
you need somebody to come help, And they do those

(22:33):
as well. Seven oh six thory five eight forty five

O dccolumbus dot com more West Carol Morning Show. Right
after the break, Chainsaw Man the movie UH seventeen point

(22:56):
three million at the box office over the World Weekend
black Phone two on the Move thirteen million, regretting You
twelve and a half, twelve point nine million, closer to thirteen.
Here's where it gets a little interesting. Springsteen delivered Me
from Nowhere, the biopic Jeremy Allen White playing Springsteen underperformed.

(23:21):
That's the way they worded it. It's floppish. It's getting there.
Four million, sorry, fourth place, nine point one million, with
a four point nine million for the latest Tron movie,
tront Aries. They're just under five million. And then the
fifth spot. Interesting to me that we have a movie

(23:42):
about Bruce Springsteen. There was another movie years ago about
the student who loved Bruce Springsteen and wrote papers about
him and things, and that was entertaining, that was good,
and that was out still at a time where Bruce
Springsteen certainly was, you know, flipping the bird at you know,

(24:03):
many Americans. He's really done it here lately, really upset
half the country. And we're at the point now where
I think people are deciding to show their disapproval by
not watching things, not attending, you know, movie screenings and
that kind of thing. I think that this is a
reflection of that. I don't know that it's necessarily one

(24:29):
of those like direct like dollar for dollar. But I
think there's something there, don't you think there's something going
on there that we're We've hit this situation that people
are letting, letting some of these celebrities know, we don't
like what you said, We don't like that you said it.
We don't. I think there's I think there's something there.

(24:50):
I don't think it's a coincidence this movie didn't do
well or people just don't care. It's the time of year,
it's a weird time of year to release a movie
like this. A lot of horror movie we're starting to
get into this holiday season. I don't think that's going
to help it either. And the Tron movie hasn't really
done that well either. But I don't know that any
of them at the box office have done very well.

(25:11):
According to a new Flex Job survey, nearly one in
four American workers didn't take a single vacation day this year,
even though most have access to paid time off, and
the reason a mix of guilt, pressure and overloaded schedules.
Thirty three percent of employee surveyed said they felt they
had too much work. Thirty percent worried about falling behind.

(25:33):
Twenty nine percent said that they'd feel guilty about leaving
their team shorthanded. Twenty five percent thought their boss would
react negatively if they took a full week off. No surprise, though,
we need the vacation days. According to experts, they say
taking time off from work prevents burnout, makes you a better,
more productive employee, and if you still feel guilty about it,

(25:58):
they say that you're part time off is part of
your pay and it is not a perk. With more
jobs consolidating and with fewer employees, I think in many
businesses and they basically say you will not now do
the job of two other people on top of the
job that you've been doing, and with people accepting that,

(26:22):
it really does make it hard I think to play
catch up once you do get behind, and there's a
lot of challenges that go with that. Now. Conversely, if
I think if employers are not going to let you
get your time off, I would think there should be
something there pay them for their time off, even if
they're working something that I would think that would be

(26:45):
a nice anyway. According to a new survey, in New
York City is the scariest place in America. To spend
Halloween while it up. Looking at one hundred cities, found
New York was the best place for Halloween. The criteria
included a bunch of factors, from a number of cost
and candy shops, to number of Halloween events, trigger treaters,
trick or treat stops, even weather. New Jersey was sorry.

(27:09):
Jersey City in New Jersey was second, Miami, Vegas, Chicago,
La DC, Anaheim, Boston, and then Gilbert, Arizona. It sounds scary,
It sounds like an intimidating place to go Gilbert, Arizona.
So there's a new travel trend making waves and it
might help you breeze through the airport and keep peace

(27:31):
with your partner. It's called airport divorce. Not quite what
it sounds like. It's basically just separating while you're at
the airport. The idea couples intentionally split up after passing
through security and each go their own way until it's
time to board the plane. One partner might grab a snack,
the other might find a quiet corner and to read
or work, and then they reunited the gate, refreshed and

(27:54):
ready to go. Airports can be tense environments, and they
say it puts a lot of added stress on couples,
so the airport divorce could prevent that, and it has
the full support of many mental health experts who think
it's just a smart way to avoid unnecessary conflict. One
of the aspects of this that we don't do this
when we travel, but I like to get on the

(28:15):
plane as early as I can, versus we tell you
a long international trip, Jill would rather get on at
the last possible second. I like being in the seat, settled,
my overhead stuff at where I want it, and just
kind of know, especially when we're traveling with our boys,
I like to know that all of our seats are
where we want them, where they're supposed to be. And

(28:36):
Jill thinks I don't want to be on the plane
any longer than necessary. So we kind of have a
little bit of that when it comes to travel. But
that doesn't even always play out that way because sometimes
we're you know, delayed on a flight or whatever, and
that shapes out that way. That'll do it for this
Tuesday edition of the show. Thanks to our sponsors and patrons.
Thanks for listening. I'll catch you back here tomorrow morning.
