Speaker 1 (00:01):
The news, opinions, commentary, and interviews. You need to start
your day and you're listening to the West Carol Morning Show.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Wednesday morning, fifteenth day of October. I'm Wes, thanks for
joining me. Yesterday, the fourteenth of October, was the birthday
of Charlie Kirk, who was assassinated back in September. Yesterday,
(00:29):
the president and many others gathered to celebrate the life
of Charlie Kirk on his birthday and he was presented
with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. And Charlie Kirk's wife, Erica,
gave a fantastic speech just talking about her husband's life,
his legacy, the birthday present that would top all birthday presents.
(00:55):
She could never beat that with her husband getting the
Presidential Medal of Freedom, something that she knew he would
have cherished and appreciated, and probably not something that he
ever imagined would have been awarded to him. It was
a nice moment, and it was a nice gathering of
people yesterday to celebrate his life. Didn't stop people on
(01:17):
social media from running their mouths. I think we've learned
that the worst of the worst are out there, and
the people who celebrated and high fived and laughed and
all the horrible things when he was shot and killed.
You know, many of them back for more, back for seconds.
And you know, I don't really like to spend a
(01:39):
lot of time talking about them, other than just to
point out that they're still there. They didn't go away,
they didn't learn. Maybe some of them did, maybe some
of maybe a couple of them had someone who actually
cares about them reach out and say, do you know
you look like an absolute jerk. You look like a again,
if second go around, you look like a complete jerk
celebrating the death of a human being over you know,
(02:02):
just political views. And it all played out once again.
But it was a nice day yesterday for the friends
and family and people who were close to Charlie Kirk
and people who had been praying for his family and
continue to pray for his family. Overall, a nice day.
And this, as Erica Kirk pointed out, the president had
(02:26):
been in the Middle East bringing peace to the Middle East.
I know we got some complications. It's not nobody said
it's going to be smooth and easy. I told you
yesterday this was one of those things, going back to
when I was in high school. It was like, man,
could there ever really be peace in the Middle East?
And it was it seemed like, you know, the Red
(02:47):
Sox or the Cubs winning the World Series kind of
like it just seemed like there's just no way. You know,
if you believe in curses, you think there's no way
this is ever going to happen. So we knew this
wasn't just going to be an easy piece of cake,
you know. Thing there were going to be hiccups. They
were going to be well what about the dead, hostages
and all those things. We knew there were going to
(03:07):
be complications and hopefully, you know, this is going to hold.
But for the moment, you know, the president did that.
He for a moment in time, and then he went
and he met with other leaders in the area, and
then he came home as as sorry, added a bunch
to Erica Kirk. All she pointed out was it was
(03:28):
an honor that he returned home from the great work
he was doing in the Middle East to be part
of this ceremony to honor her husband. So a really
nice moment yesterday, and a lot of people were gathered,
a lot of people, you know, there for her for
(03:49):
turning point USA and As Erica Kirk pointed out in
her speech, you know the people that are now, you know,
running the chapters of Turning Point all around the country
in the schools. The new ones especially like they're the
ones that we'll have an opportunity to pick up the
torch and carry it and move forward and keep his
dream envision alive. You know, something that he had spent
(04:11):
since he was eighteen years old, and yesterday would have
been his i think thirty second birthday speaking of picking
up torches, or at least attempting to pick up torches.
It's gonna shift gears a little bit. And I want
to talk about Don Lemon. Have you seen the video
of there's multiple videos of Don Lemon embarrassing himself. He's
trying to now do this. He's going to go out
(04:33):
in the streets and interview people. Now, I'll be honest,
I'm sure he's got video of himself out in the
streets talking to people that doesn't embarrass him, it doesn't
make him look really dumb. But the ones that tend
to go viral the ones that really make him look stupid.
And he's had some of the a few doozies here lately,
(04:56):
one in particular, where he's out talking with some people
on the street in Chicago, I believe, and he approaches
a woman and he starts talking about, you know, immigrants
that in the country, and this woman says, well, they're
here illegally. They need to be taken away, and don
(05:17):
Lemon quick to come in and say they're not. They
haven't done anything wrong, they haven't broken the law. It's
not illegal. It's just a misdemeanor. And this woman asking questions, well,
why are they being taken out? There's there's you know,
you're saying that they did something wrong and they're being
taken away. There's consequences when you do something wrong. And
(05:37):
it really made him look stupid. First of all, misdemeanors
are breaking the law. I don't know when we've decided
that a misdemeanor. You know, you speed, you break the
law and then you have to pay a fine or
you go to court or whatever. You could go to
jail if you don't pay the fine. It's breaking the law.
(05:59):
There there's there's there's motor vehicle laws that are misdemeanors.
There's a number of laws that are missed in petty theft,
small little thefts and things are missing, they're still you're
still breaking the law. It's such a flawed argument to
try to say that people in the country illegally aren't
breaking the law. And he's trying to win over people,
(06:21):
and more importantly, he's talking with people in Chicago, in
this case, a black woman and a black man who
were part of this interview, and he's just assuming they're
going to be on his side. He's just assuming that
they're going to see things the way that he does.
I think a lot of people on the left, a
lot of Democrats, have missed the fact that there are
(06:42):
a lot of people breaking away. They don't want this anymore.
And for all of the talk about, you know, the
criticism that Charlie Kirk was and it was a proponent
of this replacement theory that's been called conspiracy theory, and
it's been called you know, it's a white white people scared.
(07:02):
It's a it's a a one of those things that
you say, well, just just white people afraid of people
of color. You know, that's a it's a white power thing.
You want to just keep you want to keep everything
pure and white in America, And that's not it. At all.
It's the concept, the philosophy, the theory that you have
(07:27):
a certain group of people in this country on the
left primarily probably got some rhino Republicans in there that
are more than happy to have people flooding across the
border because they feel like eighty percent of the time,
your hedge and your bets, they're going to vote Democrat
whenever they get an opportunity to do so. Once they're
(07:49):
just allowed, well, we're just gonna let you stay. We're
going to allow you to stay. You're gonna be here.
This is it. We're drawing the line. This is no
more to the next group. And that's kind of what's
been happening. That's what's been happening. So you can sit
back and you can say it's not a real thing
(08:09):
if you want to, but it's what's been happening. And
you can say, well it's it doesn't have to be
about white people or not. Go get in line with
everybody else and we'll let you in. You just got
to go through the process. That's basically it. Oh you
got a criminal record, Well, no, you're not coming in.
(08:30):
We're not going to do that. Oh that's why you
snuck in. Ah, got it. So anyway, the fact that
these oh and Charlie Kirk, you know, people were accused
him of being, Oh, this is what he's you know,
spouting off. This is one of the five egregious sins
of Charlie Kirk or whatever they were calling it. And
(08:51):
one of the things that I think many on the
left haven't really had a chance to wise up to
is we've talked about it here. We have a lot
now of Black Americans and then some Hispanic Americans who
came in the country legally. Go down to any part
of Florida that has a heavy Cuban population, talk to
(09:15):
them about whether they want people just flooding across the
border or not. No, they don't. They went through a
process to be here, and they're happy to be here,
and they want to stay away from socialism. They want
to stay away from communism, they want to stay away
from big government. It's why they came here. They want
to get away from those things. So they feel like
(09:35):
people are being allowed in to replace them. This is
what we learned in polling in the last election. A
lot of Black Americans feel like, wait a minute, Democrats
were telling us they were looking out for us, and
now they're not paying us any attention. They're worried about
the interests of the people that have come in and
where they're going to be, what free things they can
(09:58):
get without even contribut to the cause. And then they're
also worried about you know, LGBTQ plus people more than
they're worried about Black Americans. They this has been a
big revelation that came out in polling as people were
going in to vote, and they're realizing, well, wait a minute,
(10:18):
you're not looking out for us. So this is this
replacement theory thing, and I don't think people like Don
Lemon realize it. And you have Don Lemon, now who's
he's you know, had his job at CNN. You could
make the strong case he was a DEI higher. I
don't know what the process was. I know a lot
of people feel that way. I can't tell you definitively
(10:41):
that's the case. All I can tell you is he
lost his job after he said some really offensive things
in the direction of women, women being past their prime.
So Nikki Haley specifically, she was past her prime. He
starts pulling out the stats on this and saying at
what age women are past their prime. I mean, you
(11:01):
gotta feel like you can say anything, to say something
that stupid, you gotta just believe that you can say
anything at all if you think you can do that,
and he loses his job. And this is also applies
to all the people who said horrible things about Charlie
Kirking got fired. They got to believe that whatever they
want to say, you can say it because you've been
(11:21):
getting away with it. Any horrible, despicable thing you want
to say, you could say it because there hasn't been repercussions,
there hasn't been punishment. Suddenly there's punishment, and these people
are confused, Wait a minute, what happened? This used to
be okay. It's the same sort of shock that comedians
must have experienced when they were out, you know, with
(11:43):
their other comedians, different races, giving each other a hard time,
joking about this, joking about that, doing their accent, doing
their voice, and you know, taking opportunities to say, hey,
this is a stereotype about you. Here's a stereotype about you.
And they were doing all this stuff on stage and
(12:05):
then suddenly one day it's like, no, you can't have
your job anymore. We're not going to let you come
and do comedy here anymore. We're not gonna support you.
You can't host the Oscars, you can't be on Saturday
Night Live. What happened. Nothing's changed, And there's that realization
that happened with a lot of people with Charlie Kirk,
the same people who were running those other people out
(12:25):
of those jobs, because comedians got to be able to comedy, right,
they got to I'm not defending all of it, but
you know, there's got to be a certain amount of
freedom to say I'm going to try this joke. If
it doesn't work, doesn't work. And people weren't trying jokes
on Charlie Kirk. They were trying despicable like, oh good,
(12:46):
he's dead.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Ha ha ha.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
That's not a joke. That's a big revelation of who
you are. Anyway, back to Don Lemon, So what he's
doing now is he's trying to You got all these
people that are trying to go after what Republicans have
been doing. You got candidates that are saying, well, we're
going to start a podcast, we want to be on podcasts,
we want to go on shows, we want to go
talk to people, we want to go talk to some
(13:10):
of the you know, the kind of the bro podcast
they call them. And these weren't people that were saying, hey,
we're we're going to specifically look for conservative or Republican candidates.
These were the people that the candidates said, hey, we'd
like to come on your show, and they said sure.
Why would we not want to talk to a political candidate,
a presidential candidate. I've talked to many over the years
(13:33):
political candidates. I've talked to presidential candidates. I've interviewed them
one on one. I've had the ability to do that.
You do it. I've interviewed on both sides. You do it.
You have the opportunity, you take it. That's what you do.
You don't know when someone's going to be president, you
don't know. You take it. That's what the podcasters did.
(13:56):
So you got all these folks on the left now saying, well,
Bro culture, we got to get on these shows, We
got to be interviewed by these people so that we
can be taken seriously. Let's start our own podcast. We're
gonna do that. I'm gonna talk to people. You got
folks like Gavin Newsom who's like, I'm gonna I want
(14:16):
to do one of these shows where I just talk
to everybody. I want to be like Bill Maher and
just talk to people, just sit down and talk to him.
And they expose you. Charlie Kirk is one of the
people he talked to and exposed him. They call you
out for who you are, and that's what's happened to them.
And they're trying to say, Hey, we want to do
these podcasts we want to do. We want to go
(14:38):
out on the street and talk to people. That's what
Don Lemon wants to do. Not as a candidate, but
he thinks that's the way to approach people. He wants
to get out. He's not Charlie Kirk. He'll never be
Charlie Kirk. He can't express himself. That's not a crime,
that's just a misdemeanor. You realize how easily Charlie Kirk
could have destroyed someone trying to make that our argument
(15:00):
to him if he walked up to him on the
street and that's what they said. I mean, most of
us could destroy that argument. This woman, this random woman
that he walked up on, destroyed his argument right there
to him. It's not the first time either, he's been
lit up multiple times by people on the street. So
this is the strategy. We're seeing it all playing out,
this desperation, and it's not going well. They're trying, at
(15:26):
least at this point some of them are, but it's
still really sad and I don't see any of these
strategies working for them. They're going to have to find
something else. Today's show brought to you by Columbus State
University's Coca Cola Space Science Center, Inspiring and educating the
youth and future STEM leaders and STEM career holders that
(15:50):
really of all ages. I mean, they do it for
school age kids as school age kids visit the Coca
Cola Space Science Center, but they also do it through
their university program where you can learn engineering, astronomy, physics,
and the careers in space and STEM fields are booming
right now, and you can learn more about maybe getting
(16:12):
your degree on their website CCSSC dot org. While you're there,
also check out some of their upcoming programs. They've got
this incredible collaboration that they do with the Schwob School
of Music from Columbus State University called Music under the Dome.
It's unlike any concert experience that you can get anywhere else.
(16:34):
It's one of those things that when you're watching it
in Columbus, Georgia, you think, is this really in Columbus, Georgia.
I mean, this is a major city attraction that happens
right here in Columbus inside the planetarium at the Coca
Cola Space Science Center and the new season of Music
under the Dome. Check out upcoming dates for the shows,
(16:57):
and also check out when the next astronomy coming up.
Where you can get outside. Sometimes you do it at
the Cocola Space Science Center. Sometimes you get outside somewhere
outside the city lights. You don't want any light interference,
and you can do that as well upcoming Astronomy Night events.
Also on their website, it's CCSSC dot org. As Sean
(17:17):
Cruisin says Charlie Charlie SamSam Charlie dot org, I just
remind you that it stands for Coca Cola Space Science
Center CCSSC dot org. Today's show brought to you by
Overhead Door Company of Columbus. For all of your garage
door needs, commercial or residential. Maybe you have regular maintenance
(17:39):
that it's time for. It's always good to get maintenance
on anything that has parts that move and have electronics.
The folks at Overhead Door Company of Columbus can take
care of square and that away for you, and while
they're there, you can always ask them questions about some
of the maybe cosmetic changes you'd like to make to
your garage door. Maybe your cur appeal isn't quite what
(18:01):
you want it to be and you need some repair
work done to the outside door. Maybe you need a
brand new garage door completely. Maybe it's making a noise
when your garage door opens and closes. Maybe it's some
sort of insulation issue that you've got with colder or
warmer weather, sometimes that stuff gets in and it's inconvenient.
Maybe you're looking at a situation where you'd like to
(18:22):
add a screen door to your garage door system that
you can put down and you can use your garage
space as a sort of outdoor but indoor, you know,
if you like to work on your own cars in there,
or maybe you just want a little man cavid you'd
like to be able to open the door up and
not invite all the insects in. They can do that
for you as well, and again they do after hours calls.
(18:44):
There's nothing worse than that thought. Of having your car
trapped inside your garage and your garage door won't open
and you need somebody to come help, And they do
those as well. Seven oh sixty five eight forty five

oh dccolumbus dot com more West Carol Morning Show. Right
after the break, well, have you already bought candy for Halloween?
(19:18):
And have you already started eating the candy that you
bought for Halloween? A new survey found most Americans don't
wait until Halloween night to indulge in the candy stash.
Many actually go through it twice before Halloween arrives. In fact,
twenty six percent of respondents submitted to restocking their supply
three or more times. I mean, if you're an adult
(19:43):
and you're not trick or treating anymore and you're just
missing out on some of that candy, I can get it.
I do, but three or four times that's a bit much,
don't you think? Is your pet scared of Halloween decorations?
Most dog owners know that when you walk your dog
through the Halloween season, it can be tough, with decorations
(20:05):
triggering a fight or flight reaction from dogs, and I
mean it's basically theater decorations or costumes or whatever, but
dogs don't know that. So you may know a giant
skeleton in someone's front yard isn't real, but your dog
doesn't know what it is and sees it as a threat.
(20:27):
Same with trigger treatings. Actually on how a trigger treater
is actually On Halloween night, your dog doesn't know the
costumes aren't real, so your dog can be pretty anxious
about all of it. Just leave the light off Halloween night,
or maybe you know you sit out closer to the
road in the driveway and visit the little ones as
(20:50):
they come up there, or you want to leave the
light out if you've eaten all of your candy four times?
So how much are parents supporting their gen Z kids?
A recent survey found nearly forty percent of recent grads
that don't have full time jobs, and many are still
job hunting or stuck in part time roles, and as
a result, parents are stepping in big time, over half
(21:12):
spending more than five hundred dollars a month supporting their
adult kids. I mean, they're not really kids anymore at
that point, are they? And one in three spend over
one thousand. Some even expect to spend more than twenty
thousand dollars before their child becomes financially independent with their
own full time job. And the way it's breaking down,
(21:34):
rent primarily kids living at home, rent free bills and
living expenses, whether it's utilities, Wi Fi, groceries, transportation, cash,
a monthly allowance for adult children, student loans helping to
cover those, and then you know career things, coaching, resume services,
(21:55):
and that's sort of clothing for interviews. I think that's
I think you will find more people would be happy
to do that for their kids that they're trying to
kind of nudge them out of the nest, you know,
career coaching or resume services or a new suit for
an interview or whatever. I think that's probably I think
more people would be there than wanting to pay their rent.
(22:17):
And I'm not saying that everybody who pays the rent
wants to pay the rent. I'm just saying, if you
sometimes like a savory hangover cure and have deep pockets,
you might consider getting a bloody Mary at Claudio's Waterfront Restaurant,
Long Island, New York A one twenty dollars brunch beverage.
It's pretty huge, contains the usual tomato, juice and vodka,
(22:39):
but also features a one and a quarter pound whole lobster,
eight shrimp, celery stalks, jalapeno olives, bacon strips, and just
a image and video of this particular bloody mary has
gone viral. It's pretty ridiculous, and I don't know that
(23:00):
it really counts as a drink when there's that much
food involved. But bad news for countless dozens of people
worldwide who use iPhone's Clips app, Apple is getting rid
of the video editing feature. Once upon a time, it
was an easy program for creating social media ready videos,
but now with Instagram and TikTok offering pretty much those
(23:20):
features directly on their platforms, it almost seems like it's
not necessary. But if you're one of the people who's
still using Clips in twenty twenty five, Apple suggests saving
your videos to your photo library before the app goes
away completely. So that's a heads up. It's going away.
It's going away, you Clip users yet, yeah, iPhone Clip users.
(23:45):
Astronauts who live in glass houses shouldn't throw moon rocks.
Not a common expression, but it could be in the
future with NASA teaming up with California based company called
sky Reports. Sky Ports added an art at Nice sky
Ports and they're playing to build lunar glass homes on
the Moon's surface that will serve as futuristic habitats for
(24:05):
astronauts to live in and work. The glass domes will
be made from lunar regolith, which is dust and rock
covering the Moon. Scientists figured out that it contains silicates
which can be melted down and shaped into glass that
would be stronger than typical glass we have here on Earth.
The idea is currently being researched as part as NASA's
(24:27):
Innovative Advanced Concepts Program. Can we get some of that
glass here on Earth once we start regular trips back
and forth, you know, get some of that dust down
here and let's make that hard to break glass. Let's
see how that goes. Maybe make some windshields out of it.
That'll do it for this Wednesday edition of the show.
Thanks to our sponsors and patrons. Thanks for listening. I'll
(24:48):
catch you back here tomorrow morning.
