Speaker 1 (00:10):
Hello, and welcome to the Wolven Energy Podcast. My name's
Damon Smith and I'm your host for this episode. Thank
you to everyone who's supported the Wolven Energy Podcast to date.
Change is fundamental to shamanism in one sense. Shamanism is
all about spiritual specialists shamans who engage with and create
(00:35):
changing energy patterns in the world and use those energy
patterns to pursue high levels of shamanic technique. And in
the mainstream podcast we've talked about this an awful lot,
so I'm not going to go back over it. The
concept of a spiritual rebirth is also prevalent in esoteric traditions,
even in the Freemasonry, where it's part of the Master
(00:57):
degree or the third degree of the Blue Lodge infree Meacenary,
and in many of these traditions, and this has to
do with the point in a shaman's life where they
undergo a sort of ritual death, ritual death, maybe not
a spiritual death where they throw off to a certain
(01:19):
extent the nasma, or perhaps see through the miasma and
take on a new life that is much more grounded
in nature and natural processes, natural principles, everything in nature,
without exception, involves energy changes, and we've talked about how
the eeging is a kind of meismatic representation of natural
(01:39):
energy changes, and that you know, of all the books
in the world, of all the ancient books in the world,
if that one disappeared, it wouldn't be too much of
a problem because somebody with an understanding of those energy changes,
pretty much any experience shaman could probably with enough effort
reproduce that book if they wanted to, whether they would
want to use a different matter, but those energy changes
(02:01):
exist in nature first, and they exist in the book
known as the Eujing. Second. When we started the Woven
Energy podcast, Joe and I took a decision to do
what's known as long format that is roughly our long episodes,
and I think there was a really good decision at
that point in time. We had time to get together
at the same point in time and do these long
(02:22):
format episodes. They proved to be quite popular and we
got quite a following, and we still intend to do
those kind of episodes going forwards. But my life on
the road is has especially over the last couple of years,
has made it virtually impossible for me to continue with
(02:43):
Wolven Energy in the same way that we've done it historically. Now,
that's not Juell's fault, that's not Graham's fault. It's entirely
down to choices that I've made about my working life
and what i want to do with my working life.
I have been a lot of upsides to that, but
there have been downsides too. The main downside has really
(03:06):
been damaging the podcast. I wouldn't say that I've damaged
Wolven Energy because actually, in the background, an awful lot
of work has been going on with myself and the patrons,
or some of the patrons, at least on wolven Energie itself.
If you want to think of Wolven Energi as a
kind of introduction to shamanism through two things. One is
(03:27):
to using more English words for things that there are
no English words for. I've had to make up some words.
Part of that was what we call the Arma Bello effort.
And also to crystallize my main way of practicing and
teaching shamanism. As you all probably know, all those long
term listeners know, I'm a spurs dance specialist. I do
(03:50):
quite a lot of drum. I can do homo look,
I can do various other techniques, but the richness of
spurred dance has always been my forte if you like,
my men thing in shamanism, and so what has been
going on is figuring out how to do and practice
and teach woven Energy. That's what I'm going to call it,
(04:11):
Woven Energy being my crystallized introduction to shamanism through spurt dance.
There's actually been quite a lot of work being going
on on that, and so the new circumstances that I've
been in for the last couple of years have kind
of led for me to a choice between allowing the
podcast to die or changing the overall format of World
(04:33):
An Energy from what we originally set out to do
that was so successful long format, too short format so
that I can fit in recording sessions opportunistically here and there.
I kept hoping that I would get to the end
of projects, get to the end of things I was doing,
and have some breathing space to make some long format episodes.
But that just isn't happening in my life anymore, and
(04:55):
it doesn't look like it will be for the foreseeable future.
So the plan now is, rather than allowing Woven energie
to die, which I certainly don't want to do, and
rather than just settling on teaching woven anti spirit dance
to people who I have contact with, which is basically
the patrons in the UK and a couple of people
overseas who I do kind of zoom sessions with, to
(05:18):
make that Spurt dance more available to more people through
doing short recordings, short instructional videos and putting them on Patreon.
Again shot being the upput of word, because I have
to fit these things in between my hundreds and hundreds
of miles of driving and you know, wherever I am,
(05:39):
wherever I need to be, I fit them in and
short periods of time, because short periods of time I
do have. Long periods of time I tend not to have.
So that's one of the one of the intentions is
to start putting videos on Patreon, shot videos of primarily
focusing on spurt dance and my way, as you know,
(05:59):
coming from lots of different shamanic traditions, a kind of
distillation of that and my way of introducing people to
shamanism through spirit dance. So those things will appear on Patreon,
start to appear on Patreon shortly we'll see how it goes.
I'm not promising to do loads and loads of episodes
really quick or anything like that. They will appear gradually.
(06:20):
But the promise I will make is that stuff will
start coming through at a higher rate than it has been,
which isn't a difficult part of reach. As I said,
we're still going to try to do long format episodes.
I will get together with Graham and do more herotics episodes.
I'll get together with Joe and do more woven Ancie
podcast on shamanism episodes, and indeed tam Or we might
(06:41):
do some episodes on energy outs. But people who are
interested in staying with us through this change should understand
that those things, at least for the foreseeable future, will
have gaps between them. They will not be coming out regularly.
What will be coming out regularly or semi regularly this
type of episode episode in which I just sit down
(07:01):
with the Bold recorder that was purchased for us by
the patrons. Thank you ever so much, guys are your
support on this project has been not only invaluable, but
it means that wolven Agie exists. The wolven Angie podcast
exists when it wouldn't have done without you. So I
can't say enough how much we appreciate our patrons. And
(07:24):
those are the type of episodes, short episodes like this
one that I'm going to be producing. The additional episodes
that I do with Joe and Graham and Tamo and
Wolven Agi, Heltex and Angie Ards. You know, I'm not
planning to discontinue those, or we're not planning to discontinue those.
We will do them, but we'll just fit them in
where we can. The Combined Shaman Expert Dance incorporating all
(07:45):
of the traditions I practiced, and for fans of shingy
who I know there's a few, listen to the episode.
The good news is that that will include all of
the shinghi animals in depth, plus a bunch of other
things from different branches of shamanism. For instance, we've got
the whole of Mickey's tail Dory. We've got some of
the outtake traditions. We've got a little bit of stuff
(08:06):
from South America. We've got some of the older Japanese
traditions often coming into the kind of saky banner, and
all the shinshukure and their movements there, but always focusing
on the spirit dance aspects, and I will teach the
spirit dance along along with the twelve basic techniques that
(08:28):
I've put together. The twelve basic techniques will be just
like Spurit dance, and then after that it will be
animal spirit dance. And you could say that normally twelve
techniques wouldn't be enough to learn spirit dance, but these
techniques have been selected for their ability to teach newcomers
and to do some fairly rich spirit dance, and these
(08:51):
particular techniques I think are enough to make the weave
rich enough without it becoming ritualistic, without it becoming stale,
at least to begin with. And after that we go
into the animals, which effectively means infinity additional techniques. The
twelve techniques that we've selected are very conducive to creating
a weave. We know that because we've been trialing this
(09:13):
with patrons in the UK and the arts to say
that they'll take you up to level three or four
in a kind of seven stage model. All twelve will
eventually appear as shots on Patreon, and my plan is
to make longer videos for slightly longer videos for higher
level patrons to give a bit of extra value to
(09:34):
the people who've given us that kind of level of support,
and those videos will be more around how to teach
the techniques to other people, how to use them with
a shaman's staff, and how to use them with a
shamon's drum, and how to dance them with one more
of the shaman's and create a kind of collaborative weave.
Those will be for the higher level of patrons. Those
videos shot format videos of the Spirit dance techniques are
(09:58):
coming through Patreon. We've had a lot of different ideas
for outlets. For instance, originally there was the Groove and
we've had a discussion group on Slack. I'll reward the
text on Patreon shortly to make the levels match what
we're intending to do going forwards, but we'll keep the
original levels out. It is so if you're one of
(10:20):
the high level patrons, you don't need to do anything
at all. You get access to all of this stuff
as it becomes available. The key is that all of
these things will be done in my available time, so
the quality level might be a little bit lower. The
recording set up I'm using right now will be indicative,
because this is that little recorder that the patrons bought
for us, a little potboard recorder. I'm carrying this recorder
(10:42):
around everywhere with me from this point forward, so I
can just whenever I get a chance, I sit down
and do these things. The audio and the different environments
will obviously vary, but this recording quality will be indicative
of what we've got rather than the we do have.
Still the quite good quality recordings set up when I
can get back to base and make it available for use,
(11:04):
but my ability to do that is virtually nil at present.
At that setup, also donated by the patrons, much appreciated.
So these short format videos are going to be my
primary way of teaching spirit dance. And I get tired
of saving saying Wolven Energie spirit dance, and I get
(11:25):
tired of saying Wolven Energie, you know, kind of martial
arts stuff and all this kind of stuff. As far
as I'm concerned going forwards, in terms of the Woven
Energie name, I'm just going to use that name Wolven
Energy to refer to the spurad dance and the few
things that go around it, to broaden it out under
richer shamanic system. I will leave the patrons discussion group
there the one on Slack, but I'm unlikely to be
(11:48):
able to participate in it, at least in the short term.
I would much rather if I do get any participation time,
I will be putting my focus on Patreon, and I
will pretty much be responding to questions, comments and stuff
about whatever the latest thing I've posted is there. I'm
unlikely to go reading back through all of the stuff
(12:09):
on there. Again, it's just about time and ability to
fit these things in. If I do, you find somebody
who has the time to administer it, then we can
add more people later. But I'm not banking on that
or anything. So to mark this change a new beginning,
we've created a new version of the original Woven Energy
Sappling World Tree logo. It's only been slightly modified, and
(12:31):
the idea of the modification is to incorporate more of
what we've like pattern into it. The new logo is
just the same meaning as the old logo. It's the
three realms, it's the upper realm in the Middle world
and the low world of shamanism, and it's sampling because
what Woven Energy is about it's about bringing new people
into the shamanic tradition, which I think we've been very
(12:54):
successful with, and also people who've studied shamanism for quite
a long time but want to get a new take
on it. You know, our take is famously quite real
world and practical. Who want people to do shamanism, to
participate in it, to learn through it, through that tradition.
And so the logo has been modified slightly, just slightly
(13:15):
to incorporate more of a weave like pattern. And the
only place at the moment where you can see the
new logo and indeed the old logo because it's still
the fav icon on the site, is the wolvenedgi dot
com website, and it's been in the new logos incorporated
into the picture of the girl doing tyrt the on
the wolvenedgiy dot com site. So that's pretty much what
(13:38):
I wanted to go over. The idea is very appealing
to me because I don't really want this thing to die.
I think that it's it's been beneficial, helpful to a
lot of people. I'm pleased with the people who I
interact with, I mean the patrons who I interact with
reasonably regularly. I've been astonished by the ability that's been
(14:03):
gained by some of the patrons who are further afield.
It just amazes me that you guys could could pick
up this stuff to that level so far away from
me here just sitting to talking to you through a microphone,
and from Joe and Graham and Tamil. It's absolutely astonishing
what you guys do, and I do hope that you
guys will continue with us. One of the things I've
(14:24):
learned in the business world is that there are some
people who really don't like change. And that's okay, it's
totally okay, but I suspect that clear and tell for
the Wolven Auntie podcast generally not those kind of people.
And I do hope you'll enjoy this new format for
Wolven Energie format, both in terms of how I'm teaching
(14:45):
spot dance and also in terms of how we collectively
are running the podcast. I really hope you enjoy it
and continue to get stuff out of it. Another thing
to note is, as you know, there's a huge volume
more content in the back catalog for the Woven Edgie
podcast that isn't going anywhere. It's staying where it is.
So hopefully those two things together will be enough that
(15:10):
wolven Edgie remains a valuable thing to our listeners into
the future. So thank you very much and I'll see
you next time.
