Speaker 1 (00:08):
Channel time and what is going on wrestling Fantasie Fall,
Welcome back to the channel. On today's a dish. We're
bringing back a familiar face. It's Robert Stone. How are
you doing today?
Speaker 2 (00:25):
I feel like I like I'm almost like a co
host of your show. Now this is like third time
in six months.
Speaker 1 (00:31):
Maybe, yes, yes, I think if you're pitching this, I'm
in it. I'm into it all right, I love it.
I have a history wrestling channel going on. I think
we could bring you in get your historic facts about
being attacked dressed as a wrestler once on the highway.
We have so much to talk about that. Uh, you're good. Yes, Yes,
Today though, as we're recording, it's actually Eddie Guerrero's birthday,
(00:52):
which is amazing because we're still celebrating Eddie Guerrero's work
in the ring. We're still seeing spots that we use
from him. Well, it makes any Guerrero so special. You
think that wrestling fan is still celebrating his birthday, Well, I.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
Think just when you hear wrestlers that I've been in
locker rooms with them before, wrestlers that have wrestled them
before just always have great stories about how helpful he
was in the ring, how great he was in the ring.
I you know, even at that there are guys from
that time frame that I guess I was around or
got to know, but I never I've been in a
few locker rooms with him once when I was like
(01:25):
an extra when I was really young, but I never
really got to chat with him or I certainly was
never in the ring with him. So I can't speak
on that, but I think it's just you know, when
you have a great rep and you were you know,
you added a lot to this industry, Like why wouldn't
you still be talked about how old would he have been?
How old would he have been today?
Speaker 1 (01:41):
I really fifty eight would be how old he'd be?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
So wild? Yeah, I was. I just saw Chavo a
week or two ago and he was talking about him.
He always at some point brings him up. But you wonder,
I wonder if he would have still been wrestling, you know,
Chavo is still going.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Man, imagine Well it's weird because lately the past couple
of days, AI video has been popping up everywhere, like
Tupac showing up on Raw and the Attitude Era, and
one was Eddie Guerrero, I think being a car salesman,
it was very strangely weird, and I just thought to myself, like,
is this the the path we're going down? We're like, well,
well we can't have any Guaro because he's not alive. Well,
looks a I have a crap out of him and
(02:21):
have him fight Damian Priest an episode of SmackDown on USA, Like,
is that the path we seem to be going down?
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Five? Where are we going to be in twenty thirty five?
That's the question?
Speaker 1 (02:33):
WrestleMania on the Moon. I believe, Yeah, I believe that's
the goal though. The goal this weekend though, is to
watch ww Crown Jewel. You can watch it into so
many different places right now where the ESPN involved. But
Cody Rhodes for Seth Rollins is the match everyone is
trying to figure out who is going to win Vegas odds.
For you personally, who do you got Cody?
Speaker 2 (02:55):
I mean, Seth Cody? How do you not go with? Yeah?
How do you not go with Cody in a match
like that? It's just I think when when I hear
Cody's in a match, you just kind of always go
with Cody. I don't know, I think that's who my
money would be on. I don't know if I have
a good enough reason to give you, but I'm just
picking Cody, all right, all right.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Well, because he's had a good track record at least
on television against Seth Roland and matches. Because the time
when he took off his robe and showed that he
was bruised from head to toe on his pictorial muscle
like that, to me was one of those moments I
don't think I'm supposed to you know, as a kid,
when your parents are telling you, hey, don't watch certain things.
You see a bruise like that, you're thinking me, my
friend shouldn't do this in our backyard and on trampoline anymore.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Body bodies aren't supposed to look like that. Like that
color on my skin, is it? You're not supposed to
see purple?
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah, regular wrinkled skin. You know, that's all I want.
But either way, But also coming up, you have Evolved
a huge event October fifteenth on tube out. Tell me
why this event is so much bigger than the rest
of the weekly episodes we have so.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Well, it's the first ever official to be special of Evolve.
But both championships are being defended in one night. Kelly
Armstrong's defending her Evolved Women's Championship against Kendall Gray and
Jackson Drake is defending his Evolved Championship against Bryce Donovan.
So both champions have been defended, but never in the
same night. Plus a bull rope match Brooks Jensen against
(04:25):
Tate Wilder. I mean, bull rope matches are few and
far between, you know nowadays, So I think that's going
to be a vicious It's a dangerous match as it is,
and I think they're going to leave it all in
the ring for this one. And it's crazy because we
were just we had our first interview as Evolve was debuting,
and now we're already at our first special. And you
(04:48):
fig back to even the first ever Evolve show, the
og Evolve was in two thousand January twenty ten and Rawway,
New Jersey at the rec Center. It's, you know, smaller venue,
and to think fifteen years later they're having this massive
special on TV for the world to see just how
far the name Evolved has come. And wrestling is wild,
It is.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Pretty wild, and you brought up I want to bring
up the bull rope match for a second, because I
remember when Steve Careno fought Dusty Roads and an ECW.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Event one Living Living Dangerously Yeah, two thousand, I believe,
two thousand and Steve Creno was uh there was a
lot of red on his face.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Yes, the King of Old the King of Old School,
I believe. And that was one of those great bull
roop matches. Obviously there have been huge bull roup matches
in the past, you know Rodney Piper, Greg Valentine, other
things like that. But this the Dusty Roads Karna one
I always bring up because anytime I get to go
to events where you have tryout and Steve Creno's there,
I always want to be like, excuse me, excuse me,
(05:43):
sir man that time you were bleeding forever on your face?
Do you remember that? Like I feel like Chris Barley
sometimes when I talked to wrestlers, like remember that time
you did that.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
Cool thing that was in Was that in Jersey at
Asbury Park? Maybe? Or am I I could be wrong.
I might be wrong. One Living Dag wasn't Asbury Park.
I don't remember if it was that year, but I've
spoke to him about that match. Also, I brought it up.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Good God, are you done it for me? Every time
I see him, I'm like, oh, man, I can't believe
that's the king of old school Steve Carena. And then
you got you know, Prince Albert Matt Blum there too.
So it's always just funny when you see certain people
like I remember that person is a train and now
they're training in today's future with NXT stars every single
week and you know NXT in TNA working together we prod.
(06:29):
We talked about this before. But this weekend I will
be attending live Boon for Glory. What NXC wrestlers will
be involved with the biggest event of TENA wrestling Bound
for Glory. Now there is a Battle Royal, you know,
call your shot, twenty men, twenty women, come on, and
I think we need Robbie E to make an appearance
inside this Call your shot gone. Is this possible?
Speaker 2 (06:52):
You know aip okay, anything is possible. That would be
amazing when I mean, can you imagine just that the
hair spiked up overly spray tand the oil glistening on
my b I mean, come on, I still have my shades,
and you know the necklace is packed away somewhere I
could find them. Hey, you never know, right, it's wrestling.
(07:13):
You never say never down for Glory. Wow, it's it's
gonna be an awesome show. But how cool would that be?
Could you imagine if the boom hit?
Speaker 1 (07:21):
If I'm there live and it happened, and you don't win.
You know, I've seen that sign, you know, if Johnson
doesn't Johnson wins me Riot, well of Robbie doesn't win
see fall Riots.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yeah, I better started just in case I get the call.
I better start doing push ups now. I gotta like.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
That will.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
I've won Team Tag Team Championship gold at Bound for
Glory before, so you know San Diego twenty thirteen. You
know so? I mean, hey, I have a history with BFG.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
You also won the Turkey Bowl. I believe in TNA
as well.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
Well, let's not talk about it.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
That's not that's not on the table. I didn't get
the notes. I wasn't allowed to ask that question. I'm sorry.
I didn't mean to pr I'm so sorry about the
Turkey Bowl comment. Coming up though, also is Johnson's last match.
He's only got a few more appearances left. He will
be the Boston Garden Masion Square garden. You know, we
have Surbarrviisaries, Crown Jewel, but also Washington last time. Nobody
(08:17):
knows who Johnson is going to take on in his
last encounter in the w W Rings. Now, if you
had the books in your hand, if you're putting this
story together, who is John Cena fighting? And why is
the reason?
Speaker 2 (08:32):
Oh man, I'm the wrong guy for these questions.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
You're not the wrong guy.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
He is the whole John. The whole John Scena thing
has been you know, amazing for the past year, and
I've kind of like taken the choice to as opposed
to because I feel like everyone's been overthinking whose opponents
are going to be and I kind of wanted to
like take a step back and almost just enjoy the
past year as a fan of it and and watch
(08:58):
it and kind of see what happened. So I haven't
really been I know a lot of people have been
so excited for the AJ styles and like even that
everyone was like it should be AJ for this match,
and I just wasn't thinking about it much because I
want to just sit back, be entertained, enjoy it. And
That's what I'm doing. So I say I'm the wrong guy.
For it, just because I haven't put thought into it
like that. I just want to watch it, be surprised
(09:19):
and see what happens. Like everybody else, Well, who do
you think?
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Well, thanks for politicianing your answer.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
Who do you think? Who?
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Who would I want? And who'd I think want?
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Okay, who would you want?
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Well, unfortunately one of those people doesn't work there anymore,
so I would have to go with someone from his past.
That's I don't want to say names. But the thing
with this is I think someone from the past should
be wrestling him, not someone new fighting him, because we're
looking forward, Like the nostalgia tour that we were on.
I was in Saint Louis when Rainey Orton fought John Cena.
(09:54):
I was there for seeing pumpas John Cena. That was
like a nostalgia running wild inside my veins. And and
so I think that's what people want, and people are
looking for, not looking for. Hey, it's this new person
taking on John Cena. That's my personal opinion. That's how
I feel. But is that how you feel? Is it?
Without saying names? I guess is it you want a
(10:15):
nostalgia tour or this was? It didn't matter what happened.
It's john seen his last year. It's all enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
Honestly, it's Johnsen's last tour. Let's all enjoy it. And
I know that's not the answer you are, but it's
really how I feel.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
You know, it makes sense. I do understand. There's lots
of rumors people really want a gauntlet match so he
can fight all these wrestles in a row where we
get Johnson versus five people. So if you didn't get
your dream aj Styles match, you're gonna get the other
four or five that you never ever were received.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
And then if you're going through his past, I mean,
one of them could be Bull Buchanan, who's with originally.
I mean you can listen to anyone who's been with
him on that, you know, right?
Speaker 1 (10:54):
Good God?
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Speaking of his son, Brooks Jensen is in that bull
rope match involved this wed Day on succession.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Hopefully B Squared will be there.
Speaker 2 (11:05):
They'll be supporting them from home of course.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Of course. Now, one thing I keep seeing online is
TV shows when they have long seasons or short seasons,
people get all upset. But with we this is no
off season. Do you, as a wrestler performer, do you
feel like sometimes there should be just a grace period
of Rustmania happened, that's a season finale. Let's not have
(11:28):
a row the next night. Let's pause and come back
a month later or two. So we're all getting jazzed
out with movies, Marvel Star Wars. You don't have them
every single day. You have them spread apart.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
No, And I think it's just only because I've been
I don't know. It's the only thing I've ever known
that every wrestling fans ever known. It's always been like that.
So I think to take that away, I think we'll
almost make people just yeah, like okay, of course, don't
want it more. When you don't have something, you want
it more, but you still you want it every week.
And like the example you use, if WrestleMania happened in
(12:01):
the next night there was a Raw, I mean that
Raw is, you know, one of the most exciting raws
of the year that people look forward to. So after
the big shows, when you're saying it could potentially and
then there'd be a break, I think those next episodes
of Raw and SmackDown are the ones that everybody wants
to see the most, you know, the fallout from it
and so now, because I feel like this, that would
(12:22):
be weird. What would everyone do on Monday night and
Friday night?
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Well, you can have Raw, do you know a season
and SmackDown can come right after that season. You have
different characters, different stories, all prepped and prepared.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
That's how it'd be.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
It'd be very odd. I agree, very odd.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
If the arenas are still being filled every week and
the people are still wanting to watch take with what
works true true?
Speaker 1 (12:46):
I agree. Listen, I've been watching since I was a
little kid, so there is no off season for there.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Was a great question. Yeah no, that's a cool thought,
and I'm curious I actually to see what most people
would say about that. But if you're a true wrestling fan,
I think you're just gonna I know, why would I
want to have less wrestling?
Speaker 1 (13:02):
You know, you're right, But also they'd be like, ye
as you know, you're on the internet with this. Half
of me be like that's a great idea. Give give
someone the rest. The other half's like, how dare you
take this away from me? So it's really all up
to you, I guess on that point, I have some
rapid fire questions for you. Uh, here we go, coffee
(13:22):
or energy drinks, Coffee early Bird or night Owl early
Bird theme song you wish was yours for entrance music, Michael,
you're gonna do the dance too, I mean I could,
and the and the chaps.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Guy, I would pull that off.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
Come on, it's true, you already have the gear ready
for Roberts. So yeah, first WWE match you ever watched?
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Ah Man, I owned the first. I just know. The
first match I ever watched was Dance Spivey Verse Sting
Sunnay main Events the six o't five show. That was
the first ever match I remember seeing because my brother
was watching and it was WCW, So that was just
the first wrestling match I ever remember seeing with Sting
Verstan Spivey.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
Wow and your dream tag team partner.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Dream tag team partner. I mean honestly, it was same
with the music. It's my favorite growing up. Would probably
be Sean Michaels.
Speaker 1 (14:21):
So then what is it like for you being around
him as a colleague and employee, Like it must be
I would think mind boggling because you're obviously at work,
You're doing work, but I'll see like, oh my god,
with Seoan Michael's over there.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
Yeah, no, you you are, But I mean it's been
so many years now. When you work with someone so
closely for so long, eventually, you know, every few months
you do have to say to yourself, that is like
Sean Michaels that I just had a conversation with you.
Don't get me wrong, You get lost in it and
you forget because you know, you're at work, you're it's
a busy day, you're talking to someone about important things.
You forget who it is that you're actually talking to you.
(14:52):
But I do remind myself every now and then how
cool it is to be, you know, hand in hand
and talking to him. And he's taught me so much
and his his mind for wrestling, in philosophy obviously it's great.
And even I've heard him at time speak highly of me,
which has been, you know, amazing to hear. So it's
very fulfilling.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
That's awesome to hear. Yeah, he he. He was gonna
sound like a little pathetic for me. But when he
used we used to do NXT zoom calls monthly, and
I always had my babies, my kids behind me, and
so finally after like six of them, he was he
would stop noticing this one guy keeps having babies with
him all the time. I'd be like, yeah, Sean about NXT,
how we have exists Sunday or what do you think?
(15:33):
And uh, eventually I saw him in a hallway when
she's like and in my half my brain is like,
don't say anything. Act professionally. Other half is like, oh
my god, That'shean Michael's And when I go hey, I
just want to he goes, oh, hey, Steve, how are you?
And I'm like, I think it was one of those
moments of of oh, I'm this is supposed to be
a professional environment, but yet I have fanned out of
my mind seeing Sean Michaels here, which was great. You know,
(15:53):
it was a nice moment.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Well, about uh give or take about two years ago,
my kids came with me to an NXT show they
can during the day. My wife brought him and they
were out by where the ring where it was where
the ring is during you know, some rehearsal stuff, and
they just again they don't really at this point they're
five or six, They don't know who anyone is or
so they go right up to Sew Michaels because he's
(16:14):
there with a headset on and they just go up
to him and they just go who are you right
to him and I'm just like right there and I'm
just like whatever. Sean goes about one inch from their
face and just goes, I'm the boss. I think that
day they questioned see him punk, They asked him who
he was and why he was here. There was someone
else they went up to all so just going around
like they owned the place, just like question who these
(16:37):
big stars are? So you know, it is what it is.
It is.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Yeah, kids will the darnest things. And the last question
before he wrap this up, what's the best piece of
advice you've gotten from a WW veteran backstage?
Speaker 2 (16:53):
A good one too, I think, just the best piece
of advice. And I think this is something that I
would give this someone too if I talk to him now.
Is just like it's not always about you, Like you're
you're a part of this massive show. You're part of
this massive company. But you can't get caught up in
forgetting that you are just a part of it. Not
(17:15):
everyone is the main character in every movie or every
TV show at every time. You just got to stay
level headed, appreciate that you're here, and just realize that again,
you are helping this show. You're not always the show.
Sometimes you're just a part of it and helping it.
And I think if you could have that mindset, you
can really you can really enjoy your career, you know,
and not get frustrated with anything.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Do you remember who said that to you?
Speaker 2 (17:39):
I don't, but I just know that. I just know
that's something something that someone told me early on, because
right from there it was a click for me, and
then I used it to tell a lot of people
the same thing. And I can't remember who said it
to me, and not that it's this secret or anything.
I feel like a lot of people say that and
have that same mentality to me, it's common sense. But yeah, no, man,
(18:01):
I can't.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
We'll just say at Sean Michael, so you can say
grace with your kids, insulting them exactly. There you go, Well,
there you go again. WW Evolved next week on two
b October fifteenth, huge event, all the championships, two of
them on the line, bullroop match. That's exciting. Of course
This Saturday is Crown Jewel. Then you have Raw, you
have an XC, you have SmackDown, you Evolve and bound
for Glory is also this week in which I'll be
(18:23):
there live, and it's.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
Gonna be October. October twenty fifth. How Looween have a
golf so.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
I'm gonna have to get a dressed as Robbie. There
you go, boom my kids. Will you know what they'll
say to me?
Speaker 2 (18:36):
What kind of hair you got under that hat? You
don't want to know, Robbie.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Well, thank you so much for being here. I'm see fall.
He's Robbie. I'm never gonna interview him again. I have
a great day and we'll see you next time. Bye bye,
