The Best Christmas Music.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
Time to break out the festive bangers, classic hits, to
favorites and the best of today It christ Wonderful Christmas.
There and Paul McCartney. So in the news this week
because see Spain's labor Minister Jolanda Dies has said that

(02:19):
the government are working really hard on new plans for
the working hours here in Spain for next year, and
they're going to be reducing the working hours from forty
hours a week to thirty seven hours a week for
Spanish workers and this should all kick off around May
of next year, twenty twenty five. So that's good news.
If you're working in Spain thirty seven hours, that's good.

(02:40):
And yeah, some of the Spanish government's buildings, the local councils,
things like that done a lot more online working now.
A lot of people are working from home and they're
reducing some of their hours. Some of them are already
on thirty five hours a week, believe it or not.
But yeah, so it's going to be across the board
from forty hours week down to thirty seven if this

(03:02):
new law comes in and it looks like it should
come in around May of the next year. Tracy Chapman
there and fastcar.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
David Wright, help and advice for living and working in Spain.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
You're listening to the right Way, the right way with
David Wright.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
It's Friday, It's Friday, and that Friday feeling getting you
into the mood for the weekend.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Yes, well it's Friday. That means it's one time Friday.
And I've got my live guest today, Amy being on
from Madrid. Hi, Amy, can you hear me? Okay him? David?

Speaker 4 (03:41):
Have you wine Friday?

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Thanks for john us Amy And yeah, I mean we've
had a couple of questions in the comments section. I
think you can get access to that and Sylvia is
a bit of a cider drinker, so she's had a
question there and asking for some recommendations for Christmas. What
can you do to help Sylvia?

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Absolutely so.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Most of in Spain is coming from northern Spain, usually
the Studias region, and there's a very cool craft producer
there called Exner ex ny R that I think is
making the best ciders that are that you don't have
to part from on high, which is the traditional Austorian way.
So if you don't want to splash slide all over
your floor Christmas Day, I'd go for the Exner kraft Sider.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
That's my favorite. Brilliant, brilliant, that's great. And also, I mean,
I've had a question from Terry and she says, looking
for wines is so many good wines in the supermarkets
here in Spine it's hard to tell. She's read the labels,
and now is this something specific we can look at
on the labels of the wine to judge if it's
any good or not.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
You know, I love this question because labels for wine,
I think are notoriously difficult to get useful information out out.
So what I always look for, if I always recommend
on our tours that people look forward looking at wine.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
Is to look for a couple of words.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
So the first one in Spain I'm not looking for
is nines niehras, which means old vines. It's been as
some of the most incredible vineyards in the world was
really really old vines, and those old vines tend to
make wines with really concentrated and intense, sort of interesting flavors,
and so you'll often see venias vehjas if it's an
old vine wine. And then also, as you know, if

(05:17):
you've heard me on the show before, I am a
big proponent of ganic wines. Gives you a little bit
less of a headache the next day. So I always
keep an eye out for that organic label, which looks
like just a little leaf and usually the back label
in a little square there to the EU organic label.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Yeah, yeah, you said this about on the shows before,
and I like a little bit of Carver. So there's
my wife, and we've gone up a little bit in budget,
as I told you earlier from the two ic five
mark donas about seven eight or even nine euros last week,
and offend that the more you pie, the better quality
is obviously, but also we don't get any headaches. But

(05:54):
you say all carver now is organic, that's right.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
As a vast harvest, I believe this is the twenty
twenty four harvest. All kava must be certified organic. It's
one of the old wine mentions in the world that
requires all of their producers to produce organically. It's really extraordinary, brilliant.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Great, well, hang on the line. We'll be back with
Amy after this. But are you be faulty there? And
red red wine? And talking of wine, we've got Amy
Bingham from Madrid. Hi, Amy, she's going to be giving
us some recommendations for wines. Now, Amy, I've had a
question in the comments section Profits of the Day Jay
so won't say who it's from, but David, can you

(06:36):
recommend in spining where to buy savignon blanc? Can you
answer that one?

Speaker 4 (06:43):
Yeah, it's a great question. So when you're blank, is
a French grape that isn't often grown here in Spain,
but we have a grape here that is super super similar.
It's convert and that grape is most commonly grown in
the region of Weether, which is one of your classic
tapas wine often the main white wine choice that you're
giving it both bars here in Madrid. I'm not sure

(07:05):
how it is where you are, but d vejo from
whether it would be my sort of recommendation if you like.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
So, yeah, I mean we're talking about paying you know, price,
isn't it And I think you know, I know, speaking
from my Spanish wife's point of view. They don't like
spending a lot of money on buttle of wine, and
you can get some really cheap wines here. But what
is an average price for a dacent buttler of wine?
I mean it's a bit difficult to answer, I presume,
but you know, for a Christmas bottle of bottle of wine,

(07:30):
should be paying three or four years? Or should we
splash out a bit more? Is there really a lot
of difference?

Speaker 4 (07:36):
You know, I really think that there is. You have
to think just the cork, the bottle and the label
is going to add a minimum one from and so
if you're only spending about three the euros, you've got
one year on packaging, one year out in markup from
whatever store you're in, which means the liquid and sign
is really only worth one row or less. Now, the
bottle doesn't go up as the price of the wine

(07:58):
goes up, and so you just gain quality of wine
as that price goes up. So the difference between a
bottle of the costs about three euros and a bottle
of the costs eight europs is going to be wine
that is two, three, four, five times as good. So
I wouldn't say, you know, look for something in sort
of the seven to ten range, and I think if
you're used to those sort of three to four euro bottles,

(08:19):
you're going to be really surprised the huge increase in
quality you can find by just paying a couple of
yuros more.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Yeah, I definitely agree with that as far as I'm
not a big red wine drinker, but when we buy
the cover, we have splashed out probably three times the
amount we normally pie and notice a difference big time.
So I mean, what about Christmas lunch is coming up
for Christmas? What do you recommend now people should they
ever read? Should they have a wine? Is it down

(08:45):
to personal ties? What would you recommend for the Christmas meal?

Speaker 4 (08:50):
I mean, my go to is always all of the
above for a celebration meal. You know, usually your Christmas
meal lasts quite a long time. You might eat a
couple of bottles. So I'd always recommend starting off with
some bubbles with your appetizers. If you're going to do
some cured meats or some cheeses, Cava is one of
best pairings with those types of appetizers, And the wider
red is really depending on your preference and what you're

(09:12):
having We're going to have a salt csted fish for
Christmas dinner this weekend is at a pre Christmas dinner
and so I've got a nice bottle of white wine
kind of teed up for that. But then on Christmas
Day we are going to go red because we're having
some nice roast beef and we're going to go with
the Monastrel from Jumia, which I think is a very

(09:34):
crowd pleasing, easy to drink red that goes well with
just about any sort of roast dinner.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Sounds great, great, thank you, I met with it back
with I meet right after this.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Getting you into the mood for the weekend.

Speaker 4 (09:48):
Live David Right, David Right, David, David.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
David the Afternoon Show. So we got Amy being from
Walk and ate Spine in the comment section today answering
your questions. So Amy, tell us a little bit about
these tours you do in Madrid, and I think you've
got some Tappas specials on at the moment. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
Absolutely, So we do all kind of tabasan wine and
market experiences for in Madrid for both couples, families, groups
or groups sort of anybody that wants to explore from
Madrid through its food is what we specialize in.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
So Amy these tours are they open all over Christmas?
Are you on holidays at the moment, when's the best
time to come up there?

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Absolutely, we are open all through Christmas. We're almost sold
out for the Christmas holidays, which is very exciting. But
do have a couple of spots left for some tapas
and wine, also for a bit of market and churros
experience as well.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Brilliant, great and all the recommendations that Amy has been
giving us over my shows. You can access all these
bottles of wine or the recommendations and check check out
her website as well, Walk and Eat Spain dot com.
That's in the comment section now, or you can go
over to the information page. That's David Wright online dot
com information page. So thanks very much for joining us, Amy,

(11:06):
and have a great Christmas. Thanks, cheers all the best,
see you later. It's Friday.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
It's Friday, and Friday feelings can leave you into the
mood for the weekends.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
The comments section is open.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
Shard live to the DJ right now via our website
and here he is.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
The legendary Davis Ray. You're listening to the right way
with me David Wright al Maria Radio A one oh
seven point five FM, and I've got another caller here.
We've got a special guest to hear today, sponsor all
of my shows as well, Paul from in Dullo Transport, Hi,
pol can you hear me? David Good and got one

(11:51):
of your friends in the comment section. I think Sylvia
is a long running fan of Airs, and she's in
the in the section. I believe that you helped her
out a little while ago.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
I was, yeah, I was listening. I was listening to
Aim on the on the wine section, and Sylvia said
about cider. Well, I'm a West Country boys, so yeah,
that resonates great with me, and I do. I do
like the Spanish siders, especially some places like Stories where
it's a bit cloudier and more like more like the
West Country. And I'll be looking forward to maybe cracking

(12:23):
aside or open with Sylvia in the new year, because
we've got stuff in storage and I think we're looking
to hopefully deliver it towards the end of January.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
Well there you go, Sylvia, not long now get your
stuff in. I know it's great. I was waiting ages
for mine when I moved over here. To come over
on a low loader. But just talking about your business
a little bit, Paul, Now I believe you do. You
pack up for people and you unpack as well. Is
that great, Paul?

Speaker 2 (12:51):
This is what we've been doing this afternoon. Actually is
the last job of the year was packing somebody's goods up,
which was all done in stood by two o'clock. That's
all into stories now and it will be away from here,
going to the UK on the second of second of January,
the first trip of the year, first trip of the
new year.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
Yeah, I remember, it was a long time ago now,
twenty three years ago, nearly. It's incredible. But when I
moved over here, I had a big, big truck, brought
one more stuff over and I just piled all the
boxes up outside, literally outside. They wouldn't bring them into
the house. So I spent about two and a half
hours just bringing the boxes into the house. So that
was a bit of a nightmare for me.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
But when we delivered, we'll place the fur industry.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Where you want it in the house, really and yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
If the boxes are clearly marked with kitchen lanes whatever,
then we don't have a problem opening the boxes and
unpacking on the first services taking the paper and boxes away,
no problem at all.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Nice.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
We'd like to do it because it recycles the materials
as well.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Yeah, and talking about the materials, I mean I had
a visit up to your warehouse a little while ago,
and I was surprised you've got an in house shop
there where it's open to the public to come in
and buy the stuff to do the packing themselves.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, we got everything there. We've got triple
cardboard boxes, all different types of tape, environmentally friendly tape,
most of it's paper, very very specific. We got all
sorts of wrapping materials. You can buy Kraft knife and
market pens and it's like Santa's Grotto at the moment.

(14:28):
My colleague Daniel loves Christmas come first as Resember.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
That was it.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
There's four Christmas trees in there at the moment. But
that's that's Daniel for you. We've actually just shut the
doors on it now for the year. One o'clock the
door shuts for the last time, and then two o'clock
once once the jobs were finished, the boys went their
own separate ways, handshakes and everything else, and they're looking

(14:52):
forward to a nice Christmas break well deserved as well.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Yeah, okay, and we'll be back with Paul White after
this last Christmas.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
It's Friday, It's Friday, and that Friday feeling getting you
into the move for the weekend Live David Right.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
David Right, David David.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
David The Afternoon Show. Okay, So I've got Paul Bert
from Indaralo Transport and Storage on the line, and we're
talking about his business and just help people move into Spain.
And it's not just Spain, it's all over the place.
And people when they're here as well, Paul, if they
want to move like I have moved quite a few
times here. You do local movements as well, is that right, Paul.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean just just this last week
we've been down to Malaga and Gibralto, so yeah, we've
been We've been moving people locally all around the Hacker.
And that's what there is is our staple business keeps us,
keeps us going, you know, five days a week. But
then the international stuff is biggest, bigger, and it's better

(15:51):
planned as well.

Speaker 1 (15:52):
Yeah. And we were just saying about the weather. I
mean absolutely claorious here today, twenty degrees today. I was
down out in the minor bike of call any excrewse
to get on a mind of way and down at
the beach front here and I had had the jacket off.
It was so hot, unbelievable. Took a couple of videos
and pictures that there's a guy fishing on the beach
here in near Almarria City with his shirt off, some

(16:12):
baying as he's fishing. It's a different worlding now, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
It's here, David. It's why people moved to Spain, isn't it.
Two weeks ago we were down in less near Grass
for lunch and there were people sunbathing, bikinis and whatever
on the beach, you know, in and out of the water.
And then last weekend I was in Malaga to see
Christmas light and it was bitterly cold, which was great

(16:36):
for what we were there for. And Spain's just so
diverse for all that, isn't It's just fantastic.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
So Paul your clothes for Christmas at the moment? So
when are you back? Open? And wins the chop open
if anybody wants to contact you.

Speaker 2 (16:50):
The doors open again at the warehouse and the buff
pack store of that they open again on the seventh
of January. If anybody does need anything urgently, they can
contact us through the website. We're always monitoring their emails.
If anybody needs has an inquiry, you can go through
the website and do that where there's a chat Bob
there as well, so we're always available that we've We've

(17:12):
got a truck coming in on the third which is
taking a removal up to Luxembourg and as I mentioned earlier,
our first trip of the new year. It leaves here
on the second of January, gone back to the UK.

Speaker 1 (17:25):

been an absolute pleasure. And thank you for the suppoint giving.

(18:44):
so some news about legislate legislation. I can't even say
that word that's coming out in May that could help
British people that I've moved to Spain after Brexit get
legalized if they haven't got the correct paperwork. Now, this
new registration legislatstration here you go. I can't say anything
says that if you've been living in Spain after Brexit

(19:07):
for more than two years, a short interview and you
will be granted legal status here in Spain. So yeah,
check it out. This is in could be I think
I saw it in the article in May. So I've
got the information on this over on my information page,
the whole article there. If you've been living here in
Spain a bit worried about paperwork, you're not properly registered

(19:29):
here in Spain and you haven't had a chance to
do it with a bit naughty. If you haven't done it,
then you might be able to get this grant status
where you can be legal here with just an interview.
The information on that is over on the information page.
