David Right, David Wright, David David David the Afternoon show.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Good David Right one seven.

Speaker 4 (00:42):
Lay tune in now and join the play.

Speaker 5 (00:49):
Very good afternoon, and welcome to the Right Way with
me David right here on our Maria Radio A one
oh seven point five FM. The comments section has reboots,
so come and say hi, Come and keep the company
here this afternoon. More tips and advice on living and
working in Spain. And I've got two live guests on
my shoulders. They're going to give you some tips, maybe

(01:10):
save you some money on your expenses here in Spain.
That's all coming up a little bit later on in
the show. Well isn't it hot? Are you getting used
to this heat? Sylvia in a coment section, Hi Sylvia,
thanks for joining us this afternoon. This is your first
summer in Spain, our guests, and it's starting to warm
up nicely now. We got thirty seven degrees here in
and we're here today. Forecast a little bit cooler over

(01:32):
the weekend, dropping down a couple of degrees, but it's
going to be a lot hotter in the next few weeks.
And on that theme.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
What seven light well tune in now and joining the place.

Speaker 5 (01:58):
Very good afternoon to Carol Joy this in a comment section.
Maria and Catdog all join us in a comment section
and hired to Tim the legend as well. Yeah very
hot here today, And yeah, Sylvia, you wait till end
of July augusty it starts to really warm up then.
And actually last year wasn't too bad. But a couple
of years ago we did the top one hundred degrees
here for a week or so. And now where it

(02:19):
gets pretty hot. But Inland Spain. I remember when I
came to Spain many many years ago. I was working
up in Tabernas near Minnie Hollywood there, and it was
in June and July, working for an English company up
there doing some renovations on some houses, working outside all day.
I thought I've made a big mistake moving here to Spain.
Then it was really really unbearable. I remember I had

(02:40):
a higher car then and they used to get in
the car to come home at five o'clock and it
would be around forty four degrees up there in to Berna.
So yeah, if you're living Inland, I'll bet you know
what the weather's like up there. It can get very
very hot here in Okay. So Sylvia in a comment section,
says she was staying in a cave house in August
last year. Yeah, there's lots of these cave houses and

(03:01):
the temperature is amazing in them. I was doing some
work a few years ago on the way up to
Granada on the road there from Alnmorea to Granada, on
the right as you leave alm Moria, there's quite a
popular area there just on the right there there's loads
of cave houses and they don't look much from the outside,
you know, normally just a door or window or something.
You go in and they open right up and at

(03:22):
some amazing temperatures that it stays the same pretty much
all year round in there. So a great option if
you want to get away from the heat here in Almeria.
Something else as well. Several years ago, I was up
in near the desert into Burners, because we have a
famous desert up there near Minnie Hollywood, and I went
on a survival course, believe it or not, in July,

(03:43):
and it was funny because it was very very hot
up there during the day, but it wasn't a sweaty heat.
It was amazing dry heat in the backs of Midie Hollywood.
There's some ramblers there, you can walk around there. There's
a course I did up there, four day survival course.
In the evenings it does get pretty chilly up there,
so it's proper desert weather up there. And you would

(04:05):
think there's not much to eat up there in the desert,
but surprising what we found up there. I won't tell
you over the year some of the things we had
to eat, but so, yeah, quite interesting a survival course here,
and I think it's still going as a guy out
there that still does the survival course up there is
x sas guy and still living in Almorant does these
survival courses. So if you want to find out more
about that, is some information on that over on my website.

(04:26):
Why Why from.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
The Heart of Southeast Spain Maria Radio.

Speaker 5 (04:31):
Did you're listening to the right way with me? David
right here on our Maria Radio A one oh seven
point five FM. And yeah, bit of a thing today
for summer songs. It is pretty warm here today. And
I was just reading later earlier on about the life
expectancy in Spain. There's been some new test results out
eighty four and a half years old in life expectancy

(04:53):
here in Spain and in the UK seventy eight and
a half is the age there. So yeah, life expecting
t in Spain is highest in Europe. Put it down
to the Mediterranean diet, healthy lifestyle and the more outdoorsy
type activities people get up to here in Spain. Also
new factors come into this as well as the doctors.

(05:13):
Apparently there's three point two doctors per per one thousand people,
so three point two doctors per one thousand people in Spain.
In the UK there's only two point one doctors for
every thousand people, and that's made a big difference. And
they're also saying that in the UK life expectancy has
dropped over the last few years because of the underfunding

(05:35):
of the NHS. Well that's a obvious one in it,
so there you go. So yeah, if you're living in Spain,
life expectancy is average average of eighty four years old.
And also they're saying there's a difference between the two
countries of ten years of healthy older people. So Spain
has ten years old ten years older people are ten

(05:56):
years healthier a ten years. The last ten years healthier,
so as you get older in Spain, that is the
last ten years over the people living in the UK.
Is it down to the diet, I don't really know.
I suppose we do a lot more fish here, at
least I do a lot more fish here and fresh vegetables.
I know, for one postally I go to the market
every Sunday where I am here in Almria, and we

(06:17):
buy fruit and freg nice and fresh, locally grown stuff
most of it. And it's gone up a little bit though.
I don't know if you've noticed that as well, but
we used to get everything for around a euro a kilo.
That's fruit and vegetables all mixed in together, one eurokilo.
It's now around one twenty a kilo. Still can't complain.
It's still very good, very fresh most of the time.

(06:37):
And the cherries last week were absolutely amazing fresh cherries.
So yeah, So do you think it's the diet. What
do you think it's down to the life expectancy of
being better here in Spain? Let's know. In the comment section.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
Right David right, David right, David David The Afternoon Show.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
I see ever reckons it could be olive oil down
to the olive oil. People live longer here, And actually
that's a good point because the extra virgin olive oil.
All of my Spanish friends, my wife swears by it,
and there is a bit of a taste difference as well,
and it's something I wasn't too keen on when I
first moved there. I must have meant, but if you
ever tried a bit of olive oil with some salt

(07:20):
in it and just dipping the bread in it, it
is absolutely lovely. Yeah, I do. I've got used to it,
and it's supposed to oil your joints and be very
very good for you as well. It's probably the same
price as petrol here at the moment. It's very expensive
olive oil, extra virgin olive oil, that is. Yeah, it's prices.
I've gone through the roof. They said it was all

(07:40):
due to the drought we had a couple of years
ago with the olives and that. So I don't know
myself with ego, but yeah, olive oil, I like it,
and that could be one of the factors that keeps
your joints nice and oiled up.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
One now is one that always reminds me of when
I was first started work in the UK at seventeen
years old, I worked in a cabinet making factory as
an apprentice. And I used to go to work in
the mornings at half seven and there was no windows
in the factory, and we finished work at five o'clock
and we came home in the dark. So for about
six months of the year I was working inside, never

(08:16):
got to see the daylight at all, except at the weekends.
A great bunch of guys all had radios on their
benches as we were working, all tuned into Radio One
back then with all the famous DJs, and this one
used to be playing all the time. We used to
turn the sound up when the summer comes and this one.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (08:35):
So today on my show, I've got a very special guest,
got Caesar Talisco, who is a tax expert helping US
Canadians and now British people living in Spain. So hi Caesar,
and welcome to the show.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Hi David, thanks for having me on the right way.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
So Caesar, you can help British people, American people, Canadian people,
everyone really with their taxis here in Spining. Is that correct?

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Let me clarify that my firm does US taxes. That's
how it started. We now offer a Spanish taxes for Americans,
but it could be anybody Canardian, UK or Australians who
need to do the Spanish filing we can do. We
are not able to help with Canadian tax filings you
get TIX filing or Australian use US filings and Espalish

(09:26):
filings no matter where you're coming from, if you're coming
from the US, Canada, UK, whatever.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
So see, so when people move to Spine, there's a
few things I need to get done correctly, the pipework
and that. But taxes is something that often gets put
back to the end of the queue. But there are
some important things people need to do when they move
here to Spying to register their taxes. Can you just
give you some infro on that.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Yes, everybody is different, but I am going to use
the example of someone who moves at the beginning of
the year to make it easy to explain. Because if
you move at the beginning of the year, you are
going to be a tax ress in Spain for the
whole year. And when you are a taxes in Spain
for the whole year, you need to pay taxes to
spend in all of your income with some exemptions if

(10:08):
there is a treaty. For example, American experts don't have
to pay taxes to spend on their pensions from the government,
right it is used to calculate their marginal rate, but
they don't pay direct taxes on their government pensions. And
all the treaties may have the same provisions. So one
of the things we have seen that people neglect to

(10:30):
do is to announce themselves to a senda that they
are going to be taxpayers. They do that with Moelos there,
and you know, you can have your knee or another ide,
but that by itself doesn't fill your information in all
the government organizations. You know how bureaucracy works, not only

(10:51):
in Spain but all over the world. But this part
of the buocracy is a different animal. So even if
someone is raised with immigration, I guess and you know
in patron and and all of that, this is our
separate registrations to be made with acienda and you that
with morelo er, you can do that ahead of time

(11:13):
or at the time of filing. But we did it
for a few people this tax season, and it was
a little bit of a problem because you know, it
was a rush and you know, information had too match
and and so on and so forth.

Speaker 5 (11:26):
Yeah, yeah, Okay, we'll be back with Caesar right after this.
Come on down to Valerie and sensations.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
David right, help and advice for living and working in Spain.
You're listening to the Right Way, the Right Way with
David right, Okay.

Speaker 5 (11:45):
So we've got Caesar Teleisco in the studio today giving
you some tips and advice on taxis in Spain. Now, so,
so we did talk about the importance of opening up
twin accounts here in Spain if you're married and things.
Just tell us a little bit about the implications regarding
the tax on that.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
They must open a bank account in their name, right, So,
some people don't do it because they don't need to.
When people are married, I recommend each of them open
a separate bank account in their names because because when
you file your taxes with a cenda, they check all

(12:24):
the information and all of all the names on your
knee on your tax declaration, on your make account had
to match, and in one of them don't match, it
doesn't work. Talking about many people are doing this these days.
They obtain the digital normal BIZA and one of the
requirements is that they're going to be autonomous in Spain. Right,

(12:48):
this is this is not my area we're expected directly.
This is immigration issue, but it spills into tax. If
somebody has a digital nomal business, their promising they're gonna
raise it as autonomo, and they usually don't, or they
they leave it up for later. No, they have to
raise it as soon as they arrive, as soon as possible. Right,

(13:11):
they can do it themselves if or they can hire
somebody to help. We have helped a few people last
year and this year to do that. So they need
to raise us autonomo and they need to start paying
their estimated income taxes, which is twenty percent of their
income and also estimated source security taxes.

Speaker 5 (13:32):
Okay, so, and I believe you give my listeners a
free consultation.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
Is that great for your listeners. I can give a
physical consultation to get to know each other and see
where I would match and I know I think that
we do, and maybe your listeners may want to before
they go to Spain. We can do simulations or what
the tax is gonna be, because that's like the question
of everybody's mind. If I move to Spain, how much tax?

(13:57):
How much tax am I gonna pay? And we are.
We have helped dozens of people know this amount so
they can decide I'm coming to Spain or never mind.

Speaker 5 (14:06):
Yeah, it's always good to get some figures before you
moved to Spain, so you've got some idea how much
you're going to pay. So that's great. Thanks very much,
Caesar Tellisco for joining us today on the Right Way.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
Thanks for having me on the Right Way.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
Thank you, Caesar. And there's a great reekill Caesar Felisco
there helping people with their tasts this side these films.
In the comments section. You're listening to the Right Way
with me, David right here on a Maria Radio one
oh seven point five FM. Coming up here in about
fourteen minutes time. It's a five o'clock hit mix with
Rob Mac with all the latest releases, so stay tuned

(14:42):
for that now. If you're looking for expert helping advice,
I've been building up my website now here for many
years and I've got a completely new, refurbished website David
wrightonline dot com. There's lots of experts over there that
give free advice to my listeners. Anyone that wants to
go over there. So you know, we don't like to
talk about text on sometimes it can be boring and that,
but if you're living here in Spain, it's one of

(15:03):
the things you need to get sorted out. And I
had a story from somebody a couple of weeks ago
that paid a tax bill here fifteen thousand euros that
they didn't need to pay if they'd done something the
correct route. They made a bit of a mistake on
it and they had a tax bill of fifteen thousand euros,
something that they could have avoided just by speaking to
an expert, something they thought that they didn't need to do.

(15:24):
They thought they'd done it right, but they didn't and
that was the cost to them. So yeah, it's always
worth going to speak to somebody. And these experts are
people that I know and trust. Over my twenty four
years here, I've gathered these team of experts and they
give a free consultation. So it's worth going over having
a look at the experts there, see who they are
and how they can help you, and just book a

(15:45):
free consultation with them, and just to make sure you've
done everything correctly. Here in Spain. There is some problems
with the paperwork here. It can be a nightmare, but
there's always somebody here that can help you avoid the
stress and problems and probably save you some money as well.
So go and check it out. Caesar's got some videos
we've done together and you can go and check it

(16:05):
out and see Caesar there and how he can help
you with your taxes. There's other top experts there as well.
And as some of you know, I get a lot
of my information on most of my information from Alejandro
Salvador from several door tax illegal who is also the
Honorary British Consulate for alm Moria, and he gives me
updates from the embassy here in Spain and in the UK.

(16:25):
So the information is good, it's new information and you
can speak to these experts directly with a link over
on my website. So go and check it out when
you get time. David Wright online dot com. So I
see on the news this week that Spanish citizenship was
up by thirty percent. British people take in the Spanish

(16:46):
citizenship here in Spain. You need to be here for
at least twelve years, living here in Spain for twelve years,
and or if you can do it quicker, if you're
married to a Spanish person, there is some tests and
exams you have to compleat, and you have to have
a fairly good level of Spanish speaking. There's some information
more about this on my website if you're interested about

(17:08):
taking the citizenship now. I did look into it several
years ago myself. Some of the tests are fairly strect
that at the time, you have to write a letter
and respond to a letter in Spanish, so that can
be quite difficult for most people. And yeah, it doesn't
really seem to be much benefit, I don't think from
me personally. I know that when I've traveled, especially when
I've traveled to America with my Spanish wife, I've got

(17:31):
preferential treatment by going through the border where she had
to stay in different queues, much more time wasted with
her waiting with her. They offered to usher me through
a little bit faster, and I asked the security there
why that was, and they said because of the British passport.
So twice that's happened to me, once in Los Angeles
and once in California. We got transferred through and they

(17:55):
tried to usher me through when I showed them I
was with my wife. They said no because of verse passport,
so that's one of the reasons I didn't go for it.
I just feel that the English passport does have a
little bit more clout over the Spanish bumbleank, let's know
what you think. Have you ever thought about taking the
Spanish citizenship or is a residency here enough for you? Okay,

(18:17):
So coming up in about four minutes time, it's the
five o'clock Hit Mix with Rob Mac and stay tuned
for their all the latest releases. There. I've been keeping
you warm with all the summer hot, Hot summer records
here today tunes wherever you'd like to call it. And
now let's call you down a little bit with Gwen
Stefani and this one is appropriately called cool. But that's

(18:40):
just about it for another show. Thanks very much everybody
for listening and joining me. I appreciate your comments. Stay tuned,
five o'clock Hit makes where I Walk back. Have a
great weekend.
