So new rules and regulations one not new rules and regulations,
some extra advice and help for the nomad visa. This
is a digital nomad visa. There's tax incentives for people
joining now and lots of people going down this route
for the digital nomad visa. A bit more information about
(03:36):
that coming up very very shortly on the show. So
I get a lot of people say to me, Brexit's killed.
It can't move to Spain now, I can't get the money,
all sorts of excuses that they can't move to Spain,
And really only a very very few amount of excuse
excuses are what's stopping people. If you really want to
make it to Spain, then there is always options if
you look hard enough and follow the right people and
(03:58):
following your dream is so you can make it happen
if you just follow the right people and get the
right information. And I love trying to help people follow
their dream if it is moving to Spain. And I
have top experts over on my help page now giving
free consultations to find a solution for you. So there's
always ways around it. And you know this digital nomad visa,
(04:20):
there are some great tax incentives now, so if you've
got a contract with a non Spanish company then you
may be eligible to get this digital nomad visa. You
need to be self employed for three months and having
an income of around two thousand, seven hundred a month
then you can apply for this digital nomad visa. Also,
your family are eligible to come with you on this
(04:41):
digital nomad visa. There are some new Spanish tax breaks
as well to help people and applicants. There's twenty eight
thousand British people have applied for this visa over the
last two years here in Spain, so twenty eight thousand
people now working as digital nomads here in Spain. This
has become one of the most popular visas now to
(05:02):
get if you come into Spain. So if you want
more help and advice on this digital nomade visa, I've
got experts over on my help page. That's the information
page David wrightonline dot com that can help advise you.
It may be another route you haven't looked into to
get you over here to Spain to follow your dreams
and talking about follow dreams. A bit of heat there
(05:23):
from Rita or Okay, So we've got a live guest
on the show to they We've got Patrick Crichton. He's
a language teacher and we're going to talk about Spanish today.
So Hi, Patrick, can.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
You hear me?
Speaker 7 (05:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (05:35):
You like me on again? Be here?
Speaker 2 (05:38):
Good now?
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Patrick, give us a little bit of a lesson so
you know, ordering it's something we can do here in Spain.
So you know, most people are going to be going
out over the weekend and be ordering some bits and pieces.
So give us some tips as regard to ordering here
in Spain.
Speaker 9 (05:53):
Yeah, sure, So what you want to think about in Spain,
they're very direct, They're not like as English vocal we
kind of beat around the bush lot. When we're ordering things,
will say I would like or please, can I have?
Don't worry about any of that fast When you're ordering Spanish, right,
what you want to say is things like this, you're kiero,
which means I want, and it sounds rude for US
(06:14):
Singlish folk, but in Spain it's completely normal.
Speaker 8 (06:17):
So don't be afraid when you look at the many
just to say you're kio and in order kiero. Yeah,
I want to be a little small bit kana, kierola,
baya or whatever you want to order.
Speaker 9 (06:30):
So that's the first thing I would definitely say, get
kiero in It's nice and it's important. Direct After that,
you can say on me, which literally means again for
us English folk theore it sounds rude, doesn't It means
put me, But they use that in Spain and it's
very very common.
Speaker 8 (06:47):
They'll say me, yeah, so you say put me upon me.
Speaker 9 (06:57):
It's very common now me as well.
Speaker 8 (07:00):
I'm sure you've heard that a lot.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
See that one. Yeah, I heard more upon me not
so much, but dummy damros. For me personally, I found
that quite rude. I don't use it myself, but I
hear a lot of Spanish people say, yeah, Dammian Sylvesa,
it's like give me. But it's quite rude, don't you
think all is it?
Speaker 8 (07:18):
It's definitely not rude for the Spanish. No, But what
I do, because yeah, I do feel rude saying it
like dam is quite direct. So what I do is
I say may that's and it takes the edge off
of it. So mayor is to me, that's you. That's
what I said, that's that's.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Yeah, that's very polite in it. That's very polite Spanish.
It's better.
Speaker 8 (07:42):
It's yeah, it's polite, but it's not beating.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Around the bush.
Speaker 8 (07:44):
Because you can imagine if you're away to if you're
a in Spain, it's the height of summer as well,
you're super busy.
Speaker 9 (07:51):
You don't have time to listen to someone's preamble. You
need them to like cut to the chase. So is
a good way around that.
Speaker 8 (07:58):
You can also use nip on is from you can
say that.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Great. So there's a couple of simple tips if you're
over the weekend. We'll be back with Patrick right after this. Okay,
So we've got Patrick Crichton in the studio today. He's
a language teacher, and giving us a bit of some
tips and some advice from speaking Spanish. So Patrick, so, yeah,
we know it's all beer. Now we know how to
ask somebody to put something on the table. So what else?
(08:30):
Going to the bathroom? Where's the barroom? About that?
Speaker 8 (08:33):
Yeah, that'd be useful enough. You've had a few too
many kind of what the bathroom is? Right, so you
can say donde style.
Speaker 9 (08:40):
That's a very common person Also in Spain they called
then or the bathroom the toilet la.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
You can say that.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Or yeah, I say dons d labanable? Now correct me?
How bad is that? Dont labaniel as sufficient?
Speaker 8 (09:06):
Yeah, I think it's great. It's perfect. Yet as finish people,
they wouldn't even necessarily say they and they look at
the look at the wag like that.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
Yeah that a lot.
Speaker 9 (09:19):
But yeah, like I thing it's like to people like
you can say their til.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Yeah, I like to adding the don their bit like
where it is, because you know, if you're ordering a
beer or something, this is quite different. It's all of
your shore asking the directions. And if you're sitting in
the in the place, or you're walking towards the back
somewhere looking and you catch the waiters. I it's pretty
obvious what you want, you know. So these are some
simple tips to help people out this weekend. So we
know how to get a beer and put something on
(09:45):
the plate. Just briefly go over those again. Force the
first couple.
Speaker 8 (09:50):
Yeah, so you've got the start and all the beer ones. Yeap,
ordering a beer okay, so you can say kiero, ki
ordas or mad as slightly more polite, you can say that.
(10:13):
And the last one we're going to go over with
the bill, right, yep. The bill is called la cuenta
in Spanish, so you can just pop your hand up
and to say.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
Lauenta, or or if you want to be a bit
more polite, you can say ma tris la cuenta metris
is to me, yeah, is from the tray.
Speaker 8 (10:36):
Which means to to bring, So could you bring me
the bill? I go for that one personally.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
That's quite quite polite. I think my Spanish friends and
that's like that la qua quite direct. But I think
I use that personally. I use that quite a bit.
It's a bit rude, but as you say, it's not
really rude for the Spanish, is it not at all?
Speaker 8 (10:57):
Not at all, not at all.
Speaker 1 (10:58):
No, brilliant.
Speaker 8 (10:59):
It's completely great.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Okay, So well there there you go. You've got some
tips there to get out this weekend and try a
bit of Spanish with the locals. Thanks very much, Patrick,
and Patrick gives a free trial lesson over on my
member site and on my website if you want to
go over there and check that out. Patrick. There that's
David wrightonline dot com information page and find out all
about Patrick's lessons and he's free trial lesson. So thanks
(11:24):
very much for join us on the show today, Patrick,
you next time man, thanks having me.
Speaker 2 (11:32):
On with you. Luis in now and join the play.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
You're listening to the Right Way with me David right
here on our Maria Radio one O seven point five FM,
hot and humid here today in al Maria for lush
for about thirty six degrees to mars. I's warming up
nicely out there. Okay, So second guest on the phone today,
we've got Josh Williams, their financial expert with a few
tips today. Hi Josh, welcome to the show.
Speaker 7 (12:11):
Hi afternion, David, thanks for having me.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Good good Josh, so yes, so residency, tell us a
little bit on the latest on residency.
Speaker 10 (12:19):
Josh, Yeah, so the majority, I'm sure of your listeners
are who are living in Spain our resident. That there
may be the odd one or two that are not
officially resident. We all know someone or a friend of
a friend that spend more time in Spain than they
(12:42):
officially should, you know, potentially still paying taxes back in
the UK, but spending more than half a year or
more than one hundred and eighty three days. It's the
actual limit here in Spain. So you know, if you
are spending more time in Spain than you are in
the UK, and you should be to go and that
being in Spanish tax resident and the EU have passed
(13:06):
a ruling for EU countries literally a few weeks ago
to allow countries such as Spain to step up the
enforcement and tightening on that one hundred and eighty three
that they residency rule. So it's important, you know, tax
authorities to getting more serious about this and looking at
things like mobile phone tracking, flight records, even where family live.
(13:29):
So it's no longer just about how many days someone
thinks they've been here.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Yeah, yeah, and you know that has the end of
the tax office here pretty much connected to everything with
the banks and god knows what else now, so they
are tightening up a lot here as you say, so, yeah,
just play it with me a little bit. We'll be
back with Josh right after this. Okay. So yeah, we've
got we've got Josh Williams in the studio today giving
(13:54):
us some tips on that. And we're talking earlier Josh
about the residency since brexiting that of it's up for
renew now it's it's time for the five year renew
and actually got some tips on that as well. Josh.
Speaker 9 (14:06):
Yeah, I mean it's a.
Speaker 7 (14:07):
Bit more of information, a friendly reminder, I guess for
listeners there were listening to the show here in Spain
or maybe in the UK where he may be. It's
been five years now since that article fifty has be
was fully recognized and put through. So if you were
(14:29):
like myself who became a resident prior to Brexit and
had the old nie cards or bits of paper, the
green cards and then applied for the tie, there was
a five year typically it was five year, could have
been ten being on age, but five year card timeline
on that and that is obviously coming to a close
(14:51):
or coming to expiring now if you did that five
years ago, so you know, make sure that you know
the cards renewed and needs to be could be applied
for within thirty days before inspiring and up to ninety
days after.
Speaker 10 (15:08):
And it's important you know about it. TIE is essential
for tax, healthcare, banking, you know, and if if you
don't have that up to date, it can provide potential
problems with with bureaucracy.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
Yeah, enough, trying goes fast here in Spain, and it's
often you missed checking the dates and stuff like that
in the cards. I know a couple of years ago
when I was looking at my driving license and I
found it suddenly found that the ten years had gone
by it and you don't get a renewal here in Spain.
It had gone past and I'd actually been driving for
a couple of months without a proper driving life. So
(15:44):
I actually quickly go and get that sort of up.
So it's worth checking the dates on these papers and
licenses you get here in Spain. Also, this can affect
your taxes here in Spain, isn't it.
Speaker 10 (15:55):
Yeah for sure? Going back to my first tippy, you like,
just to make sure your residency is in order, a
lot of people are not declaring residency or tax residency
in Spain because they fear and it's fair enough you
know that the taxes in Spain are higher or maybe
higher sort maybe a bit of naivety or bearing head
(16:18):
in the sand. Well we're guilty of that, but it's
generally not especially for the tirees who are really built
assets assets up maybe in the UK. So it's it's
it's important to seek advice to make sure to provide
a comparison of tax scenarios. But typically a financial advisor
like ourselves would be better suited for that than an accountant.
(16:42):
It's an accountant doesn't know what products are available to
produce Spanish taxes, whereas we are we're really aware of
we'll work with the necessary providers that provide those those products.
So yeah, sort of it all links back, you know,
just to make sure you.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
Check the on your cards, make sure it's all up
to day, and if you need any tax help or device,
you give a lessons a free consultation as well.
Speaker 10 (17:06):
Is that right, Josh, Yeah, yes, we have a free
discovery call to make sure who are on the same
path on the page. There's there any specific areas that
we can help with. Its full blown tailored financial planning
and then we put together a plan, a structure, and
it's suited to that individual with future circumstances in mind,
(17:28):
and we don't we don't charge for any of those meetings.
So Josh Williams ambient wealth.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
Yeah, okay, brilliant. Thanks very much for that. Thanks those tips, Josh,
and thanks for johnas on the show today. Have a
great weekend, Josh Williams, and cheers.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
Mateers one David Wright help and advice for living and
working in Spain. You're listening to the Right Way, The

Website and here he is, legendary Davis.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
A very good afternoon to Chris and Nicki. Johnny's in
the comments section. Good news Chris heals up for sale.
Get you out here soon, mate. It's very very warm
here in al Maria today. Thirty five degrees here at
the moment here in retamar and forecast a little bit
warmer over the weekend. Got a little bit of cloud
at the moment actually, but very very hot and muggy.
(18:29):
It was in the swimming port earlier and it's like
bath wall at the moment. It really is warm here
in Spain. But there you go. Another a few more
weeks of this hot weather and it should start calling
off just a little bit.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
But there you go.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Okay, time for a bit of a sing along one now,
very good afternoon and welcome to the Right Way with
me David right here on al Maria Radio one of
seven point five FM up next to it's five o'clock
hit mix with Rob mank in about forty five minutes, sorry,
fifteen minutes time, so stay tuned for that.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
See those riots on TV up in Mercia this week,
not good at all. There was some locals apparently there
was a local man, a sixty eight year old man
was attacked and badly injured and beaten up by some
local immigrants, and the local youths came out on the
streets and started some major riots over the last few
days up there. In some reprisals, they're saying that the
(19:23):
locals are saying that these immigrants don't fit in with
their cultural differences, and they've employed extra police staff in
the area to calm it all down. But yeah, it
really kicked off a little bit up there in Mercia.
I can understand the reasons to this, but obviously there's
no reason to be violent about things. But yeah, this
is increasingly happening all over the country here at the moment,
(19:47):
there's lots of immigrants coming in and filling up these
small villages. Story the other day about village, a beautiful
little village in southern Ireland, two hundred and sixty residents
and three hundred immigrants. Hells in a hotel there. Yeah,
you can understand some of the locals concerns on this,
but this is the first time this is erupted here
in Spain. But personally I don't think it would be
(20:08):
the last one. Hopefully it will be, but you never know.
Things are heating up a little bit in wishing Well
there by Ilia. I don't know how you pronounce it.
I suppose I've missed that one up, but there you go.
Trying for a Spanish one. Now, a bit of Ricky Martin.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
David Wright help and advice for living and working in Spain.
You're listening to the Right Way right with David Wright.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
The Afternoon Show.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
Yeah, so Chris is Chris Lovelace in the comment section,
got his house up for sale in the UK and
moving out to Spain. Hopefully, very very soon. It'd be
nice to catch up with again.
Speaker 10 (20:47):
Chris.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Where is it again? You're moving to what part of Spain?
Let's known the comment section. There's a couple of plots
of land for me. Remember where I'm living, Chris, still
up for sale. Maybe you come around here. I'll give
you a hand and build your own house like I did,
recommend it in this heat, they mate, it's pretty hot
at that moment. Yes, So, lots of people moving to
Spain this year. There's always a way. People are finding
a way to come out here. And it is a
(21:09):
better life here. It really is twenty three years here
in Spain now and I absolutely love it here. There
is lots going on this weekend as well, and lots
of fiestas. Remember, pretty much everything shuts down here in
the Anw're area in the next couple of weeks, ready
for the August holidays. Here all the banks and the
official government buildings will be going on half hours or
(21:31):
closed for a couple of weeks or so. Some of
them will be closed for a month, so make sure
you're aware of that check before that's going to all
be happening over the next few weeks or so. Some
of them are on half hours or what they call
holiday hours. Now they're going later and finish later as well.
So yeah, just be aware of that. Spain sort of
shuts down for the heat. With the heat at this
(21:53):
time of the year. Okay, we're going to let's have
some adverts. Yeah, so we can remember. It's pretty busy
out there this time of year, and the beaches are
getting pretty busy as well. I'm off to the beach
tomorrow for sure. We a few friends. We've got a canoe.
We're going to go out in the canoe, a kayak,
whatever you like to call it, a little bit of
snorkeling out there. The sea has been a fantastic temperature
(22:16):
at the moment here in alm Moria and crystal clear,
and there was loads of dolphins jumping out there a
couple of days ago, so amazing here in Spain, it
really is fantastic. Got everything, So yeah, I'll be heading
off to the beach at the weekend. Let us know
what you're doing in the comment section. Got anything special
going on this weekend? There is loads going on in
and around the Almorria area and hits tell us a
(22:38):
bit more about it is. Yes, So whatever you're doing
out there this weekend. Stay safe, be careful. There are
quite a few police out on the streets as well.
Early this morning, I was there's a couple of roadblocks
here on the main road towards ALM Maria Airport, so
I watch out for that up next five o'clock Hit Mix.
Thanks for listening, everybody, stay tuned, have a great weekend.
Speaker 7 (23:08):
The end of the end, it's almost
