Speaker 3 (01:24):
So, yeah, it's Valentine's Day, fourteenth of February, and maybe
you did know, maybe didn't know. It's originally from the
Roman tradition The story goes at Sank Valentine, a Christian martyr,
was executed on the fourteenth of February way back in
the third century, and the legend says he secretly performed
marriages for soldiers that were forbidden to marry. So there
(01:47):

Around the Afternoon Show with David Right.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Okay, So I'll see on the Telly this week that
Malaga Airport has set records already. This January just gone
a ten percent increase on tourist traffic coming in and
out of Malaga. They say that twenty twenty one million
seats have been sold on airlines for the cost of
their soul this year. And they record, they reckon, they're
(02:23):
going to break all records this year. Then remember last
year was a record breaker for tourist traffic in and
out of Spain and the last January this January just
gone one point three million passagers flew through Malaga Airport
alone in January. That's incredible. So yeah, this is one
of the busiest airports. I think it's a third or
fourth busiest airport.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
Here in Spain. But they're set to break all records.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Even with all the things that are going on in
the world at moment, I guess everyone's fed up with
the UK, So all coming out here. Okay, So three

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Okay, So Wine on Friday, a little bit later on
the show today and talking to Wine is a bit
of an article that made me laugh in the news
this week in the Granada, they had these big awards,
the Goya Awards of Film ceremonies up there and lots
of big celebrities, Spanish celebrities went to these awards and
a big wine company from Rioka donated to massive bottles
(04:28):
of red wine, special vintage red wine bottles that they
got all the actors to sign and take photographs in
front of these big bottles of wine. And at the
end of the event, everyone was going home and everything,
and these two bottles disappeared and nobody knows where these
two bottles are.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
So yeah, if you get offered a couple of very
large bottles of.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Wine a SMOTHEREDI actors signatures, then you know where they
came from. Whitney Houston there. Valentine's Day Special. Absolutely amazing
that one.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
The afternoon show, you're listening to the Right Way with
David right on al Maria Radio one seven point five FM.
The comments section is open, so come chat with David now.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Okay, so we've got a live guest on the show.
We've got Josh Williams, financial expert hijos.
Speaker 5 (05:20):
Can you hear me? Okay, can hear you perfectly?
Speaker 3 (05:22):
David?
Speaker 7 (05:23):
Thanks for having me on in this Valentine's Day.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Yeah, So Josh, what about we talked about pensions a
little bit today quickly, so can you just you know,
some people have got the UK pensions, Is it a
good idea to transfer their pensions over to Spain? And
what do you recommend on that.
Speaker 7 (05:39):
That's a very very broad question, but it depends on
individual circumstances, really does. It's very difficult to transfer a
private or work based UK pension to Spain itself as
there are several HMRC qualifying rules required to allow transfer overseas.
(06:01):
What a pension holder or UK pension holder should consider
our schemes designed for non UK residents. So the UK
government recently removed an exemption which prevented UK pensioners or
pensions as you say, being liable to a twenty five
percent transfer charge. That twenty five percent charge will now
(06:22):
apply on overseas transfers, commonly known as as a qurops.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
One of the.
Speaker 7 (06:28):
Latest innovations provided by the pinches industry in the UK
is the development of the non residence SIP, which is
also known as a self invested personal pension or an
international SIP. Now these SIPs are designed specifically for non
UK residents and offer access to multi market, multi currency
(06:49):
investments just like a curops, and also can be benefited
from a flexible access drawed down in the currency of
a member's choice.
Speaker 5 (06:58):
So these are ofs to consider, okay?
Speaker 3 (07:02):
And what about the taxes on the pension here in Spain?
Speaker 5 (07:06):
Is pitfalls in doing that? Is it taxes different here?
I suppose they are? What should we know about that?
Speaker 7 (07:12):
Exactly right? Yeah? So everyone should should be a whare
how the pensis at tax should be reporting UK pension income.
Under the UK Spain double Taxation Agreement, most UK pension income,
including lump sums received by a resident of Spain is
liable for Spanish tax and no longer subject to UK tax.
(07:35):
There are what there is an exemption for this for
government and civil service pensions which are taxed that source
in the UK, but the UK States and occupational schemes.
Your pension income is treated as general income a subject
to Spanish scale rates of income tax. These can vary
according to which region an individual is resident. In Spain,
(07:59):
the taxation of UK private pensions in Spain is much
more complicated. It can give rise to confusion over the
meaning of an annuity in Spain. And given the complexity,
we do recommend that anyone would take personalized and specialist
advice from an advisor with foreign knowledge and experience in
(08:20):
both UK pensions and Spanish taxation, because you know, consolidating
several pensions into a single international ship like I mentioned earlier,
could work well for one person but not another, and
that's why we're here to help those individuals.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Yeah, okay, great, a good bit of advice, Josh, Okay.
We'll be back with Josh after this soft sail there
and tainted love. And we've got expert financial advisor in today,
Josh Williams, and he's talking to us about all your
pension things today.
Speaker 5 (08:52):
So Josh.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
Yeah, We've got a question from Malcom in the comments section.
Should he speak to a UK advisor or Spanish advisor
when he's now living here in Spain.
Speaker 5 (09:03):
Would you reckon on that.
Speaker 7 (09:05):
Yeah, that's that's a very good question, and it's a
question I'm asked Austin. Since Brexit, UK advisors who had
previously been assisting and servicing their overseas clients have majority
of those advisors have had their passporting licenses remote removed
(09:26):
due to the UK leaving the EU. So UK based advisors, regardless,
rarely have an in depth understanding of Spanish tax may
not be able to keep up to date and react
quickly where needed. So most UK advisors are not regulated
either to give advice to e residents because of what
(09:46):
I mentioned a moment ago. So you know, if an
individual needs personalized advice, it should come from a Spanish
based advisor who can provide relevant pension advicessors and covering investments,
a cross bord attacks in a state planning relevant to
both the UK and Spain.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Perfect, brilliant. Okay, Well, thanks very much for joining us
on the show today. Josh, and you give a free
consultation to the listeners here on AMRIA Radio and I'll
leave your details in the comment section now if you
want to get in touch with Josh have a free consultation.
Thanks for joining us on the show today.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
Joe the Sunny Coast of Spain. It's Friday. It's the
Right Way with David Right show more personal advice, great
tips and top expert guests. Everything you need to live
the Right Way in Spain.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
Okay, so we've got another guest live on the show today.
We've got Heavier Gonzalez. He's a linguistics professor. Hi, Heavier,
can you hear me?
Speaker 7 (10:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Yeah, yeah, Hi Davi.
Speaker 5 (10:50):
Hi, and welcome to the show.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Now, you've got a bit of an interesting story you've
told me sometime ago about why you've created this methodology,
this new system, a way of learning languages. Can you
just tell us a little bit about why you've created
this system?
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Yeah, Actually, you know, I guess that everyone knows how
terrible we SPUNNI or start with languages with English then,
because for example, my example is that we studied, all
of us, we studied at school many years English, but
(11:29):
with those methods, these traditional methods. So you know, I
was supposed to know English when I went to England
first time, I was like two thousand and four with
my friend Bruno, and you know, like when I got
there to the airport, I thought that I knew in
English and I was asking directions to get the bus
(11:51):
we wanted to go to Bournemouth, and that I was
able to say a sentence. But then that we applied,
I didn't understand anything, you know, because they focused a
lot on reading and writing at school. But still, you know,
we don't know much. So uh So, yeah, when I
(12:12):
was I didn't understand anything when I was there. Uh So,
then I started teaching Spanish myself. I was, you know,
with these traditional methods. They focused a lot on grammar
as well, and I was doing the same. I was
teaching grammar, you know, properly, but that I realized that
(12:35):
it wasn't working, you know, uh the same as myself.
My students, you know, they knew the rules, that they
understood the rules, but then when understanding or when trying
to speak, they weren't able, you know. So I I
started researching. I got my pH d h and I
(12:56):
realized that there was a need or a more natural method,
and that's why I through research and through my own
experience then with my with my kids that they are bilingual.
I was traveling and I was living in different countries,
and I realized that that when you start understanding first,
(13:19):
and when you follow the same way as when you
do with your own language, with your native language, you know,
is everything much easier.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Yeah? Yeah, and I know the system a little bit
because I joined your course, I did the course, I
got the certificate, and I'm now teaching some of my
students this methodology that you've introduced, and I must have
met it is amazing. It's very gets great results fast,
and then there's no reading, no writing, is what I
like about it, because when I used to go to
(13:50):
lessons here years ago, it was so boring sitting in
classes learning all the verbs. But we're talking a little
bit more about this right after they spared with me, Yeah,
so have I. Uh, this works with any language, doesn't it.
It's not just for learning Spanish or English. You can
use this methodology for any language, Is that right?
Speaker 7 (14:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (14:10):
Yeah, actually it's with any language. We are starting now
teaching Polish. I'm based in Poland and we have some
some teachers, some Polish native speakers teaching Polish. So it's uh,
it's showing that it works with with any language, any age.
Speaker 5 (14:32):
Yeah, brilliant, brilliant.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Okay, we'll be back with heavier right after this. But
there's Sam Cook there and nothing can change their love.
Speaker 6 (14:43):
David Wright help and advice.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
But living and working in Spain, you're listening to the
right way with David right.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
Okay, So we've got Heavier Gonzales, the linguistics professor on
the phone today talking to us about languages. And there's
no system that is created to learn languages a lot faster.
So have you the system that you're using. I mean,
I'm on the course with you every Thursday night we
do life training. I'll leave a link in the comment
section if people want to get in touch with you
for that. But the British people were a little bit
(15:17):
lazy when it comes to learning languages. And a lot
of British people living here in Spain for quite a
long time and their Spanish is pretty pretty poor. So
this is a great system, a great methodology to learn
Spanish really fast.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
But British people, is it not?
Speaker 4 (15:33):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Yeah, yeah, Actually it's really motivated because it's natural. You
don't you don't need to study grammar rules. They were
completely boring. So it's it's since day one. It's it's
about conversation at the beginning. You don't if you don't
want you don't need to say anything. You're just pointing
(15:54):
or saying yes or and this way it's it's it's natural,
you're learning in the natural week.
Speaker 7 (16:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (16:03):
Yeah, I've noticed when I've got some students Spanish kids
that I'm teaching and they love it. They love the system,
and I'm seeing results as well. So if anybody wants
any information on this course or if they want lessons
with Havevier. This is a linguistics professor. You can't get
a better teacher than this, with this brand new system,
(16:24):
fast course and learning Spanish, So contact Heavier. His details
are in the comment section now. So thank you very
much for joining us this afternoon.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Have you, thank you, Thank you.
Speaker 5 (16:34):
David's all the.
Speaker 6 (16:36):

Speaker 6 (17:26):
The Afternoon Show with David Right.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Okay, So it's Valentine's Day and it's wine time Friday.
So we got air wine expert Amy Bingham from Walk
and Eat Madrid on the show today. Hi, Amy, and
Happy Valentine's Day.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Happy Valentine's Day, David, thanks for having me on the shourday.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
So, Amy, being Valentine's Day, I'm sure you got something
special for us. What have you got for us today?
Speaker 2 (17:50):
Well?
Speaker 1 (17:50):
I thought since we're celebrating Valentine's Day, we should talk
about some pink wines, some roses, and particularly wanted to
talk about what I think are some pretty great roses.
As we know, rose often gets a pretty bad rap
as sort of the leftover wine, the kind of the
byproduct of making red wines. But there are some really
(18:11):
fantastic roses, particularly those made by wine makers who are
specializing in this style. Now, there are various different ways
that you can make rose, and depending on how it's made,
will really change sort of the quality of it. What
you want to be looking for is a rose that's
made sort of on purpose, So a winery that is
(18:31):
using their grapes and pressing their grapes, mixing the skins
with the juice and letting it sit for a very
short amount of time so that those red skins dye
the juice that beautiful pink color and making it on purpose.
A lot of times what wineries are doing is making
a red wine and then just sort of letting a
bit of the juice seep away to concentrate the red wine,
(18:54):
and what's left is sort of a pinkish wine. The
bottle that is rose. But what we're looking for is
sort of those those wines that are made on purpose
and they can be fantastic.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
So anything special we should be looking out for on
these rose eyes.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
I may so because it is a celebratory day, I
thought I would recommend my favorite rose cava. So my
favorite sparkling pink wine and Spain comes from a winery
called r bart ll O p O r T or
p A RT and that is a cover from Catalunya
and They make a really spectacular, very food friendly rose cava.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
That's great.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
Thank you very much for joining us on the show today.
Amy absolutely, my brother.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Have a great weekend.
Speaker 3 (19:41):

will be up next with the five o'clock hit Mix.
