Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi everybody, and welcome back to Therapize Tobacca go pod figs.
Did you know that you need two hands to put
on big ass overhead headphones like the professional ones that
smashed together really strongly, so you can't just slide them
onto your head. I didn't, but I do now. I
(00:21):
was in a small car accident. I am okay, I
just have a bruised shoulder, shoulder blade or whatever the
fuck that thing in the back specifically is that got
bruised anyway. I was wearing a seat belt, which is
(00:43):
how I got injured like that. But if I hadn't
been wearing a seat belt, I would have been injured
probably way fucking worse. So PSA and a reminder to
always wear a seat belt. You would much rather have
what I have, which is a bruised shoulder, clavical or
whatever the fuck else that was that fucked up my shoulder,
(01:07):
then you know, like a concussion or a broken nose
or worse. So wear seat belts. They are there for
a reason. They are good for you. And honestly, and
this is me being real poor, I've only ever had
and mostly been in cars that were really old. But
I got to tell you in these new cars. It's
(01:27):
not my car obviously. Them seat belts, they're nice as fuck.
They are very they're very reactive. That shit turned into
a steel rod. Jesus anyway, I'm Gucci, But my right
arm is in like one of those also more modern slings.
(01:51):
They're serious. I thought when they said they were gonna
give me a sling, they were gonna be one of them,
like old fashioned me, like blue singing, that I could
just kind of drop my arm into and still move
if I needed needed to. Kind of, No, I can't
move my arm at all. I can't. I can about
barely flex my fingers and this contraption, which you know,
(02:12):
great steps that we've made right in these kinds of devices.
But Jesus Christ anyway, So I'm it's gonna be potentially
a little fumbly today because I'm I've got like my
left hand, only I can't hear my feedback because I
(02:34):
can't put my headphones on. Typing is also a lot
slower and shit, so I shouldn't have any typosts and
any like thing that I put up there. But it
is tough because my whole everything is set up for
my right hand, and she's son available, So also tired
(02:55):
because nine in the morning for me and I have
not really slept yet, and we've been here before. You know, listeners,
many of you have witnessed the incredible extra wonder of
the world that is my rotating sleep cycle. Currently it's
in one of those phases where I'm not happy, but
(03:19):
hopefully that means that as soon there will be a
phase where I am happier. Everybody wished me so much
luck today is a very risky endeavor scheduling wise, so
doing our best with that. On that note, this chapter
of Pearl Diver number seven, which please remember there are
only oh there are only nine chapters, which, if I
(03:44):
remember correctly, one is an epilogue, so there are only
eight chapters of the main plot in this. So we're
coming down the home stretch for Pearl Diver, and then
the story will be over, and that is so wild
to me. Once it's over, I will take all of
the recordings, cut out the individual intros, and edit it
(04:06):
all together to one long, probably over a nine hour
long audiobook that you can get either as a one
time purchase on the Patreon or will also be given
to access to the people on my Therapized Benefactor tier
(04:27):
on Patreon. So I will say so again when it's
when it's done, and then out. But just so you know,
you can also already get, for example, the full audio
book all in one go, all three chapters of Most
Annoying Customer Number one most Annoying Customer, which is a
Sasu Naru coffee shop. AU that I did. That's very nice.
(04:54):
I listened to it while I was on my way
to the er. I feel like I really wanted to
return to my roots too. I mean not that I
wanted to go to I really did not want this situation. However,
when I was there, I was very upset to find
out that I was actually in so much pain that
I could not focus or on like writing. Otherwise I've
(05:18):
become soft. Otherwise it could have really done a bit
of a of a callback to the year twenty twenty one,
when many of my fixx had the author's notes in
it that I wrote them in the er, or that
I wrote them in the hospital. But you know, I
actually could I genuinely could not do that. I was
(05:41):
it was not capable. Also, back then I could use
my right arm, so typing was a lot easier and
here I was in way too much pain and balancing
my phone in my left hand. So yeah, so that
did not happen and the moment, But that's not to
say that I won't be inspired, although I can't guarantee
(06:03):
that I will, because I I feel like we've moved
a little past having to process hospital visits through fan
fiction and can now just kind of love yap about
them a bit and then let them go. So yeah,
we're here with chapter seven of pro Diver. Chapter seven
(06:23):
is called The Monsters on Your Shoulder. This one's going
to be a doozy. Like I said, this is going
to have angst, h potentially a little violent like fight scene.
Also like potentially fight Seen Incoming has Evil Adam in it.
(06:44):
There will be villain death, There will be happy endings.
But now, but we we have to go through some
stuff to get there first, some angst. If you will, well,
actually even if you want, it's going to happen anyway.
You're just you know, if you're here, that's what you're getting.
(07:05):
So if you're new here and you've never heard of
Pearl Diver and you don't know what much Blossom is,
and you know, I would recommend going to like scrolling
in this show to chapter one of Pear Diver and
catching up. It's a fun time, I think, and you
get all the beautiful medium fast burn of this wonderful
(07:28):
pairing can't keep their hands off each other. And also,
if you want to, all nine chapters are up and
have been up since twenty twenty one on AO three
links in the description. Otherwise, if you're new here and
you're just like I just want to be yap down,
I just want to hear things welcome, who welcome you.
I totally get you. I do that all the time
(07:49):
with my own stuff, to be fair, so I am
mostly familiar, but sometimes I really do listen to my
own stuff and I go, damn, I wrote this, that's crazy. Wow,
I can't remember. And then it's kind of like it
is givering it all anew. Anyway, I've been yapping for
almost ten minutes because I missed you guys. Also, my god,
(08:10):
it's almost Halloween. It's the twenty eighth. I love Halloween.
Despite my injury, I am still doing a costume. I
will be Uh. This is a bit of a deep cut.
There is a the first ever horror film from the
Soviet Union was called Via. It's written VI ioy. It's
(08:33):
on YouTube. I think it's on YouTube, and it's about
like an hour long, and I am obsessed with it.
It's very much the blueprint. It's It's an incredible and
very fun film. And I will be going as Panachka
(08:54):
the witch uh in the movie because I have the
same kind of hair and I do my makeup very similarly,
So I'm just gonna just make up a bit. I've
got a little got a nice white quote unquote peasant
dress and some fake daisies for a daisy chain in
my air, and some beautiful sixties blue eyeshadow. Uh. So
(09:15):
very excited about that. Look. It's gonna look super cute.
I will probably post a selfie, hopefully post a selfie
on the Patreon, but on the free tier, so which
remember you can also just join as a free member,
because occasionally I do yap on there or like give
updates or talk about what's going to be available on
(09:37):
the paid tiers and stuff on the free area Patreon,
which you can find the link for in the description.
So without further ado, the summary for chapters Chapter seven
is in all caps, and it just says, everybody do
the midski shuffle and then it's an asterisk. It's as sobs.
(09:57):
So this is gonna this is good. This is gonna hurt.
This is gonna hurt both of us. All right, let's scroll.
I am so tired. Okay, let's go. Sorry, my the
(10:19):
this sling has a velcro part. When I when I
redid it, it slips slightly. It's really hard to like
move around myself. But it's digging into my shoulder. Um
hate anyway, Okay, here we go. Are you sure, Kojiro?
I said, it's not possible for us. I cannot be
(10:41):
abled responsible for my actions if you continue to pursue
this line of conversation, let it go. Kowdo's tone was final, dismissive,
but ineffective against the muscular man whose hands were roaming
the creamy skin of his back, counting the occasional scales
like precious coins to be valued and cherished. But what
does that mean, Kowdo? Would you lose the ability to
be a mermaid? Because I'd never ask you for that
(11:03):
if that were the case. Kowdu pressed on nuzzling the
back of kwd Sorry, Koduro pressed on nuzzling the back
of Kowdu's neck, I see leaned over him in their bed.
They'd believing again in the morning, after spending the better
part of a week at shore, days and days of
bliss and Kowdo's eyes with one small oh. First, John
(11:23):
pretty early in with one small recurring problem that kept
inconveniently coming up in conversation. No, I'd be able to
transform back in water. I just then, what is it?
We can figure this out? We can't. We cannot just
be happy with this? How can I? If I know
that someday I'll lose you again, you don't have me Kodro.
(11:46):
I'm choosing to stay with you for now. Yes, I
know that's the problem. Why you don't understand what you're asking?
And I then make me understand, help me understand? Why
is is it me? Do you not trust me? After it?
Shut up? Kocho, I swear to God I will bite
(12:06):
you and it will not be pleasant. Stop. You're You've
done nothing wrong. You could never all right, part from
the glaring lack of tact and self preservation instincts. You're
perfect to me, all right, And I hope you heard that.
I will not be saying that again. Kawudo turned on
the bed to lay back, to lay on his back
and cut Kochiro's face as he spoke. Kodro softened instantly,
(12:28):
still dejected but somewhat mollified, and leaned into kiss Kodo
slowly and sweetly. You are the most stubborn creature on
the face of the earth, princess, he murmured as he
pulled back, red eyes fluttering open to meat gold. Yes,
I do believe you mentioned that once or twice, Kowdo replied,
pressing kisses to his face. This conversation isn't over, you know,
(12:51):
of course, darling. Kowdo placated tone indicating full wall that
he did. Fat tone indicates full well that he did,
in fact consider the conversation over and would not be
entertaining it again. Coach Ro growled, I'm serious, Kowdo. Yes, yes, now,
I do believe we were in the middle of something
(13:11):
before he made the mistake of talking. Kowdo purred into
Kodro's neck, turning them over so he was on his
hands above koch row. Oh, I don't remember, Kodro teased,
caressing Kowdo's cheek with his fingertips as the mermaid pressed
hot open mouth kisses down his chest, licking one long
stripe down the middle of the tan man's well defined abs,
(13:33):
smiling against the skin when he shuddered. Then I shall
have to remind you, I suppose, my simple simple man,
Kodro grunted, hand slipping into his lover's open hair as
he moved lower. If I had known that admitting to
be a simple man would get me such a friendly favor,
as I would let you call me that from the start.
(13:55):
As romantic as that is, Kowdo rolled his eyes, lifting
the sheets, I doubt the reminder would have been quite
as friendly back then, Nah, Kochro tested his luck. You
totally wanted me from the start too. Two, I bit
your tongue, and I'm in quite the powerful position now
as it is. I choose my next words widely, wisely, sweetheart.
(14:20):
Kowodo's eyes narrowed as he teased his tongue across a
hip pond. It kissed you back, didn't I? When you
learn Japanese? He tugged down Kowdoo's hair with a smirk
that grew into a grin. When Kowdo's face flushed, Shut up, sappy, idiot,
make me, and so he did. Joe wasn't the only
(14:43):
one pushing Kowodo's buttons. Kowdo had been on the beach
as the sun rose, talking to Karla about the cruise
plans to set sail again eminently, and of all the
places Kodro had described to him. When Mia had joined
them of a draggled cat in arm, he'd warn Koduro
down enough that he'd allow him to adopt a cat
from the town, under the condition that it'd be a
(15:04):
bit older. He'd meant then, because nobody would have to
train it. But Mia had then come home with a
scruffy white cat with one ear and no tail, half
its teeth in a blind eye. He'd named it Gigi,
and that was that. And now wherever he went, Gigi
was either close behind, yelling quietly as if close behind
yelling quietly as if in a steady stream of blackluster
(15:25):
complaints only Mia could understand, or he was in the
boy's arms cherry Mia agreed at the mermaids, sitting Gigi
down on the sand and waiting in to join him
in the shallow water. Mia cherry nodded to the small smile.
What do you need, child, Karla chirped and Mitya gave
her a waif before reaching for Koto's hair wordlessly. It
(15:47):
was still in a high in the high ponytail Kochro
had lovingly put it in early that morning, but Kodo
undid the tie, handed it to the kid beside him,
turning to make it easier for him. Sometimes, it seemed
to Mia would get agitated about something, and rather than
talk about it, he preferred to simply sit near one
of his crewmates oh until he'd calmed down enough to
(16:08):
talk it out. Usually he'd end up with Koduro or
even Rekki, although he'd been hard pressed to admit to
the latter, but lately he'd ended up sitting with Kowdo instead,
braiding and rebraiding the mermaid's hair the way he had
taught them to. Kowdo continued to talk with Karla, translating
with Ta Miya for her, so translating to Miya for
(16:31):
her so he didn't feel excluded, but otherwise allowing the
boy to sit in comfortable silence until he finally spoke up,
a voice uncharacteristically soft against the dull roar of the ocean.
When are you leaving? Kowdo's eyes widened in surprise, feeling
the small hands and his hair hesitate in their movements
for a second. Mia, what are you talking about? Koduro?
(16:53):
And I told you, even with my fin heeled I'll
be staying with you as long as you'll have me.
I thought you talked more with him about this. He
was about ready to make a note to chew Kocher
out for neglecting his duties when Mia huffed, he did,
you did, but Kodo felt the hands brush through his
hair again. But you won't stay forever. You need to
(17:15):
be in the ocean. I'm not stupid, you know, I
know that, Kowdo sighed, turning to pull his hair out
of his grasp gently and face him. I don't know, Mia,
why can't you just stay? Shadow said? Mermaids can gain legs,
so why Shadow should know better than to gossip so loosely,
Kodo said, firmly, brushing MEA's bangs out of his eyes carefully.
(17:38):
I'm not leaving anytime soon, and I won't abandon you regardless.
Look at me. He took in MIA's frustrated pout and
averted eyes and frowned. Mia, I am serious. I'm not
going to leave you no matter what happens between Coachro
and I. Your crew is your family, right, Mia nodded,
crossing his arms. And if Freki and Lana didn't stay together,
(18:01):
they both still love you. Right again, he nodded, but
with a scoff and a muttered So if those two
would ever leave, so it's the same. I'm not going anywhere,
then why can't you? And I don't want to talk
about that. It's more complicated than it seems, and it's
between adults. But even Kowdu didn't feel convinced by his
(18:22):
own words. Luckily, it seemed to Mia was at least
temporarily satisfied with the promise that Kowdo wasn't going to
suddenly disappear from their lives. Mia Kowdu time to get ready.
Kodro's voice boomed over the beach as his impressive figure
bounded towards them with an excited grin and a glint
in his eyes that took Kowdu by surprise. As he
waded into the water, scooping up his mermaid without warning
(18:44):
and kissing him deeply. Kawado smacked his chest as Mia
groaned his disapproval, saying goodbye to Karla and collecting his
cat to head over to the house to grab his things.
What's this now, you Brew, You're scarring your child, Kodu scolded,
regarding Koduro with weary eyes. He'll have to get used
(19:05):
to it, you know, Koju hummed against his lips, carrying
him up to his wheelchair. Come on, Darling, the world
awaits barring some unexpected now, I was about to say,
barring some expected tears from Shadow when he parted from Okah.
Leaving went smoothly. Kodro had left the day before the
(19:25):
afternoon to take care of some errands and get some
last things for their voyage, and the boys had done
well to help Shadow prepare the ship, having done so
countless times before. With little to do in Shadow requiring
some distraction to ease his aching heart, Kodro had been
able to retire early, with Kowudu back in the captain's
quarters again, as the sun began to set the familiar
(19:47):
rhythm of the ocean, rocking them safely on board Kaoudu.
Kochro leaned against the wall and the mermaid laid between
his muscular legs, with his pale back against Kocho's chest,
wrapped in his strong arms. Koto's eyes were closed as
coach rode gently massageous scalp, combing through his long hair
and telling him more about his home, his original home
(20:10):
in a place called Okinawa. Yes, Koduro. Kodo opened his eyes,
pools of gold shining with fondness when Kodu gazed into them,
feeling his mouth dry up. Uh do do mermaids have soulmates?
Kado blinked, what's a soulmate? So no? Then Koduro gathered,
(20:35):
suddenly realizing how hopefully and prepared he actually was to
explain the concept in a way that wouldn't be far
too revealing, too intimate. But then again, that was the point,
wasn't it. Kado had been staring, had been startlingly unwilling
to discuss the actions necessary to gain human form, to
discuss any long term commitments at all. So Koduro had
(20:57):
come to the conclusion that it was perhaps in since
of to seemingly demand commitment from the man without showing
his hand as well. Kodro had known for a while
now weeks and weeks turning into months and months, that
Kowdu owned his heart. It no longer beat steady and
strong inside Cochro's own chest instead residing firmly in the
(21:17):
mermaid's grasp, regardless of whether or not he himself was
aware of his possession. Therefore, Kochro had decided he'd have
to make the mermaid aware, take to leap himself first
and prove to Kodo with no uncertainty, that he wanted
forever with him. Fuck me running my leg fall asleep,
m Jesus mm hmm uh well there fuck oh me
(21:55):
running Jesus Christ. Oh my god, Okay, I'm so sorry.
It's just it immediately went into the like unbearable tickling feeling.
Oh boy, okay, please stop soon. Anyway, What a horrible
(22:17):
moment in the story for this to happen. But it
could be worse, Okay, Okay. I think it's it's getting there.
It's getting there. Okay, Well, there's lots of different stories,
but it's it's people who were meant to be together,
(22:38):
like you and the boys. Not exactly. Well, I mean yes,
I mean you could say that families that need each
other find each other, but soulmates are typically romantic in nature.
I think Oh Cowdo hummed, and Kodu braced himself to
(23:00):
be shut down. But instead Kowdoun nestled more comfortably into
his chest and nodded, continue, Oh, okay, then soulmates, they're
meant to be together, and when they are, it's like
the world makes more sense, like everything before had to
(23:22):
happen so that they would find each other. And then
they never stop loving each other. And people say soulmates
transcend even death, being reborn and finding each other over
and over again, because that's just how strong their bond is.
Kojo trailed off, looking down at the mermaid in his arms,
(23:43):
who was not reacting at all. The box in his
pocket felt like it was burning into his skin. He
really had run errands to prepare for their departure, he had,
but he had also have made one personal errand after
realizing he might need to be the one to prove
(24:05):
his commitment to Cawdu before Kowdu could feel safe enough now.
Cawder didn't like to talk about his past much, and
Kodro understood from what he had shared that his experience
with humans had been tumultuous at best. He'd never said
anything about the humans he'd known before, specifically, but when
it was obvious from the occasional nightmare he'd wake up
(24:26):
shaking Kodro's arms from that. Whatever his past was, it
had been bad, and Koduro was nothing if not dedicated
to proving himself to the object of his affections. So
he'd bought a ring, two rings, really, because he'd gotten
one for himself should Kwdo accept him. However, as he
laid with him, it occurred to him that he should
have perhaps started this conversation by actually telling the mermaid
(24:50):
he loved him. Oh, by actually telling the mermaid he
loved him before waxing on about soulmates. Fuck do you
believe in soulmates? Kawdu tore the man from his thoughts
with a curious tone, pulling all of the focus back
to the pink pulling all of his focus back to him. No, okay,
(25:12):
pulling all of his focus back to the pink haired
man in his arms, who was looking at him again.
Kocho swallowed yes, yeah, I I do. His voice strained marginally,
and he licked his lips. Kawdo's gaze was unwavering and intense,
and he could sense work as if he could sense
(25:34):
Wherekochro's thoughts were, and was more fascinated than alarmed. Uh
do you do you now that you know what they are?
I mean? He asked in return, holding eye contact, Kowdo blinked.
He thought about his journey with Koachro and his journey
before him. How he'd thought he'd found a shared spirit
(25:55):
in Adam and had been horribly, horribly wrong. How he'd
fled and fled and fled for years until he had
seen more of the world than most, and how being
swept up in a storm, How being swept up in
a storm rock current had dropped him at this ridiculous
man's feet. He thought about Mia, who had attached himself
so firmly to Kowodo from the start Rekki and Longa,
(26:17):
who had blossomed right before his eyes, Shadow, who had
grown unspeakably fond of every one on board, Kowudu included,
and Kowodu thought about Kochro, who, in true pirate form,
had robbed him of every broken shard of his heart,
had pieced them back together and then kept it as
if it were a priceless treasure, with a lopsided smile
(26:38):
and a wink Kochro, who looked at him like he
was proof of divinity, who had found his way to Kodo,
even though nothing in their lives could have ever indicated
that they would meet. Kowdu hummed softly, leaning up to
press a soft kiss to Kodo's full lips that was
(26:58):
happily returned, and soon morphed into something scalding and desperate.
Scalding and desperate, clawing at each other with desire and affection,
as if they couldn't possibly be close enough. Kowdu was
short of breath when he pulled back to catch Kochro's
eyes again. I do I believe, he whispered, and Kocho's
(27:20):
eyes lit up like the stars in the skies. He
kissed the breath out of Kowdu all over again. Ko
Ko Kowdo. Koduro kissed into his skin as Kowdo's claws
gently raked over his chest. Kowdu, i'm I'm in Dad
fuck in his shock at both what he'd begun to
(27:41):
understand from Koduro's words and the sudden intrusion as their
door knob turned. Kowdu had violently shoved Koachro away and
off of the bed onto the ground. Kowdu slapped a
palm over his mouth when Kodro cursed, landing hard. Dad
why are you on the floor, Mia tilted his head quizzically,
cat wriggling in his arms as he glanced down with
the approving look. That's a real good question, kid, Kochuro
(28:04):
shot Kowdu a scalding glance, and Kowdo sniffed, turning his
nose up at the man. So naturally, So naturally. Kochu
reached up and gave his hair a good gang, earning
him a clowd of the shoulder and several choice words
that had Mia shaking his head and scolding both of
them to get themselves together. Hey, I didn't come down
here to be traumatized. There's a ship. There's another pirate ship,
(28:24):
Mia explained to the frown. It looks weird and it's
approaching fast. They didn't respond to any of our signals,
Shadows said. Just then, a heavy thud rocked the ship thoroughly,
sending me a tumbling on too, Kochro on the ground
and Kowdu off the bed to join them. What the hell, Oh, oh,
Jesus Christ, here comes the angst. What the hell was
(28:46):
that a fucking cannon? Are you all right? Mia? Stay
here with Kodu. After checking them briefly, Kochu rushed out
of the cat rushed out of the cabin, and another
said rocked the ship. Kowdo took me in his arms
and say quietly to soothe him and the shaking cat
in his arms. Suddenly, Giji began hissing viciously, jumping out
(29:06):
of MIA's arms and clawing at the window behind them.
Kowdo turned and gasped at the side. Away awake a little.
Kaowdo turned and gasped at that I should not choke.
It was about to get really not funny, really quickly, hm.
Kowdo turned and gasped at the side awaiting him the
(29:27):
sight that seemed to somehow be staring right back at him. Mia,
stay here, stay, no matter what happens, you do not
open the door, and you do not leave this room.
Stay down, don't move, promise me, he hissed, grabbing the
boy's shoulders firmly, eyes wide, and chocked me and nodded
and helped Kowdo into his wheelchair. He could still make
(29:49):
it down the hallway quickly, but without help it would
take a minute to drag himself up the stairs. Thank god,
there weren't many, but still I'm coming Kotoro, he promised
to the wind, beginning to claw his way up the stairs.
He was starting to and he could feel it through
the half open door at the top. Wait for me, please.
When Kocho had rushed to the deck, he'd expected to
see a standard pirate ship, expected to have to defend
(30:11):
his family or negotiate a misunderstanding. He'd expected to have
to navigate to He'd expected to navigate to dodge cannon fire.
He hadn't expected to see a fifteen foot tentacle curling
right back before smashing straight into the crow's nest. RECKI.
The shout ripped from his throat as he knew what
(30:31):
is going on. The shout ripped from his throat as
he moved to dodge the falling mast recky reki longa
twin shouts met his ears as a blur of red
and blue came barreling towards him. I'm okay, Joe, I'm okay.
I wasn't up there. Shadow got knocked out. This guy,
guy Guy Kodro shook his head as he rushed to
the helm to try and steer them further away. As
he finally saw what the tentacle was attached, to a man,
(30:56):
if a man then barely. The figure was slightly taller
than Kodro himself, dark horns curling from his head, and
the tentacle that was growing out of his shoulder. The
man wore dark red trousers and no shirt, shimmering skin
covered intermittently in small red and black scales, eyes hidden
behind a theatrical mask, and blue curls spilling around the horns.
(31:21):
His grin was enough to freeze Kodro in his tracks.
Twin fangs pressing into his bottom lip caught your attention. Finally,
I'm not accustomed to being ignored, and I must say
the deep voice projected easily at such a close distance.
Now that his ship was barely feet away from them,
his grin widened unnaturally. I don't much care for it.
(31:45):
Kodro wrinkled his nose as he recognized the words as
English and squinted in confused frustration the sky. This creature
had the balls to attack them in Japanese waters and
not communicate to them. Why what do you want with us?
We have no treasure to steal koju reward in Japanese,
handing the hell back over to Wreki and Laga, Adam laughed,
(32:05):
switching tongues and smirking. Ah. He'd known, absorbing that a
Kodo Kamawi would have more use than just the tentacles.
I'd beg to differ, but I don't beg. You have
my mermaid, he drawled, and I want him back. Now,
(32:26):
give him to me. His tentacle dove under the ship
and emerged only to close the distance, shoving the two
ships together brutally. Now Kodor could see the slender, almost
ghostly bodies of the massive crew aboard the enemy ship,
far more than he knew they could easily take, even
at their best, and Shadow was already down for the
count Huh. Adam's words, however, had far greater impact. You
(32:55):
have my mermaid, You have my mermaid. Kodro's blood ran cold,
and his gaze hardened. The hell I will, Adam sighed,
but it was devoid of any actual frustration. If anything,
he looked amused very well, Who dies first? Adam Kowdo screamed,
(33:22):
albeit as mildly as he could. The ripple of it
shook through the entire ship, causing Kodro to WinCE and
rakking Longa to slap their hands over their ears. Adam flinched,
but otherwise didn't move, a natural smile still in place.
Hello there, kowdu, it's been a long time. Do you
like my newest acquisition. He waved a tentacle at the mermaid,
(33:45):
whose chest was heaving as he pulled himself up the
last stair, fang's bard and gills flaring. Go to hell, Adam, boring,
I've been. It's not nearly as fun as this. He
reached his tentacle towards Kowder, and before before the mermaid
could react, Kodro leaped through the air and sliced through
it with one of Reki's many knives, obviously swiped from
(34:06):
the boy standing at the helm. Adam let out an
unearthly shriek as the tentacle fell to the deck with
a thud, and another quickly grew in replacement, lashing out
wildly as Kodro finally reached, picking him up quickly. I
told you to stay down there. You don't understand what
he is. I thought he was dead. I is Mia, okay,
Mia is fine. He's safe. You're an idiot for coming
(34:27):
up here. You're an idiot for saving me. The two
talked over each other, their eyes running all over as
they reassured themselves that the other was okay, and then
pausing when their eyes finally met Kowdo I later later,
we have to get Adam released a vengeful shout, leathery
(34:48):
wings sprouting from his back as he half leaped, half
flew over the edge of the ship, tentacles swinging wildly
and narrowly missing. Longo ducked just in time. This time
it fell victim to Reki himself, who stabbed it as
it came near, resulting in him getting knocked back several
feet and hitting his head. Longa snarled, pulling out his
own knives. But Kowdo knew the look on Adam's face.
He saw the telltale curl of smoke from his lips
(35:10):
as he inhaled stop long of get down. Adam let
out a burst of flames, and Kowdo thanked every single
god that ever existed for long as quick reflexes as
he fell to the deck, narrowly avoiding the flames, but
avoiding the flames but narrowly. Koduro I love you. Kowder
turned to him and confessed so firmly, so suddenly that
(35:31):
Kodro felt that he'd whiplash as he turned to as
he turned his head to face him. Okay, let's try
this again. Kowdo turned to him and confessed so firmly,
so suddenly that Kowdro limit let's not fuck up the
names that Kodro felt he had whiplash. He turned his
head to face him so fast, you what fuck? Kowdo
(35:56):
sank his fangs into Kodro's arm and used the by
surprise listened to grip to shove Kodo away and launch
himself at the floor. Stop Adam, Stop, I'm here, I'm
right here. Shouts of protest escaped both Kodro and Langa,
the former of which was already scrabbling towards Kowdu when
a tentacle swept him up inches from Kodro's grip. Adam
(36:17):
remained where he was, wings flapping in the air as
he held Kowodo suspended. Kaowdo knew logically that he should
have been afraid he'd seen what happened when a much
weaker version of Adam got a hand on you, but
that only fueled his resolved that he couldn't bear the
thought of losing his new family to something as monstrouses
Adam Kawdo knew he couldn't survive losing them, but that
(36:44):
they could survive losing him. What no scream this time? Kodo, boring,
shouldn't surprise me, though you've always been so fucking boring.
Couldn't fight back, Adam seemed to realize as Cowdo simply glared.
(37:06):
Have mercy on me. Adam seemed to realize as Kwdo
simply glared at him. He couldn't because his scream would
hurt these these humans. He'd easily left Adam to his
presumed death, but when faced with the end himself, the
Mermaid would really choose death over hurting these filthy, fucking beasts.
(37:26):
Adam's grin turned to a snarl before he himself could
stop it. Nothing, He roared, You left me for dead
and now I get nothing from you. You You're pathetic.
Kowdo inhaled sharply as the tentacle around him tightened. Kaowdu
Kodro cried out, reaching out to him, but stopping when
Adam wriggled a warning finger at him, tightening again around Koudo. Ah,
(37:50):
you move, I crush him. I don't need him alive
to get what I want. Human, not that you would understand.
I doubt you know very much about magic, maybe nothing,
seeing as this pathetic little bitch still has a tail. Adam,
stop it, Kwdo hissed, squirming against the sar scrip. You
have what you want? Go ah hmm? What's this? Are
(38:15):
you embarrassed? Kodo? Are you embarrassed that you fell again
for someone who could never possibly love you back, who
couldn't possibly promise you forever and mean it? Leave Cherry alone?
Longa yelled, hands white knuckling the helm as he tried
(38:36):
to angle them away from the other ship. Cherry, what
are you to them? Kowdo? Have you sunk so low?
Adam hissed, lifting Kowdo closer until their faces were inches apart.
Are you so fucking desperate for love that you stooped
to being pet for these primitive creatures? Kawdo spat his face.
(39:02):
You were human too, Adam once, maybe, but I was
never pathetic. It was never weak like this. I expected
to fight Kowdo. This isn't satisfying. Well good is ripping
out your heart if you don't care? Unless oh, Adam
glanced at Kodro, Oh I can can't. I did you
(39:25):
not ask him? Did you not tell him like you
told me. I mean, naturally, I could never give you
what you wanted, but he might have been stupid enough.
Adam grinned again. Kodro's eyes narrowed, helpless, helplessness coursing through
his veins to mix with the adrenaline as he tried
to think of a plan, of anything, anything he could use.
(39:46):
But Adam's voice was booming and impossible to ignore. He
looks confused, Koudo, Should I enlighten him? Adam tightened his
grip around Kowdo again and turned him around so that
he could stare right into koch Rose eyes. Kaowodo knew
his own were now wide with fear and anxiety, Begging
silently for Kodo to not listen, to get away from them,
(40:08):
to save himself. He filled his ribs groan in protest
as they began cracking, and he hissed. Kowdo asked me
many many moons ago, of course, before he tried to
kill me. I didn't ask. I told you about it,
that's all, and you tried to kill me first, you
piece of shit. His first rib cracked under the pressure.
(40:29):
Don't interrupt, it's rude anyway, Kowdo here told me. Yes,
I admit I was curious back then that he could
gain legs if and only if a human fell in
love with him and promised to love him forever. They
didn't really mean it too, because if they broke their promise,
(40:50):
they die quite horribly. If I remember correctly, and dumb
broken little Kodo would be sea bound forevermore. Adam laughed
as he took in the sight of Kodo's stunned face
trained on Kowdos Was that all? Was that all that
Cowdo had hid so carefully. Kodro felt like throwing up
(41:12):
as tears pricked his eyes. Kowdo hadn't wanted to bind
Kochro for fear he'd fall out of love, or never
fall into love in the first place, and lose his
life out of what obligation When all this time Koto
had already been his body and soul forever, Kowdo had thought.
Kowdo hadn't wanted to tell him because he was afraid
of Kodro cursed out, anguish, twisting his expression. If only
(41:35):
he'd told, If only he told Kowdo sooner. Kodo's forever
was his to have had been his to have and
Koto would happily swear it up and down every second
for the rest of their lives. Rings in his pocket
is proof, Koudo. His voice cracked and Kowder broke, face,
crumpling in a combination of devastated tears and fresh pain
(41:58):
as Adam tightened around him once again. This time everyone
heard the crack before coach Ro could move. This time,
everyone hurd the crack, and before Kochro could move, Adam
lifted Kowdo away high out of reach. Again. Just kill me, Adam,
You've had a funny, sick fuck. Adam shook his head,
landing back in his own ship and bringing Kowdo close again.
(42:19):
I'm offended, Kodo. I would never just kill you. That
would be such a waste. No, his gaze turned cold
as he ripped his mask off to reveal burned flesh
around fully black eyes. Now you buried me alive, you
left me for dead. I'm not just going to kill you.
(42:40):
I'm going to get everything I want to know out
of you, and only then, well I eviscerate you. He hissed,
gloved hand coming up tight around Cowder's throat and squeezing
really in a way, I'm giving you eternal life. It
wouldn't kill you to be grateful, you know. Odre growled
(43:00):
and lunged at the edge of the ship to jump
over as Adam's second tentacle pushed them away, but Kowder's
voice rang out, stopping him his tracks. Stop, Stop, Koduro.
Coudo's voice broke on his name, and Koduro faltered. Joss
slack as he stared into Kado's glistening eyes. You owe me,
remember you owe me for the bet. You've said anything
(43:23):
I want. Kodo took a moment before he realized what
Kodo was talking about. That bet, that stupid bet about
Lanka and Reki. If what Kodo was saying wasn't so
fucking get wrenching, he'd laugh. Yeah, but Kowdu not, you've
said anything. I want you to stop. I want you
(43:46):
to stand there, and I want you to let me go. Kaodo,
I can't. I'm not yours. Kawdo had tears dripping from
his eyes, and Kodo felt his heart crack at the
tension in his voice. I'm not yours, so just stop,
let me go. You promised, you promised me anything I want,
(44:08):
and I want you to live. You big, dumb, stupid
wonderful man. I want you to live, he thought. Kodo.
The Kodro stayed where he was, frozen and anxiously looking
at the mermaid held above them, hands twitching to reach
out to do something.
Speaker 2 (44:25):
Kauto my i.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
Kodro was cut off by Codo's agonized grown as the
limb around him squeezed harder, growing impatient. Love Is that
what you were going to say? Adam chuckled. Cute, he
really did fall for another human? Hak Kado, seems like
you never learn, he drawled, bored as his tentacle tightened
around him again. There were more audible cracks, and Kodro
(44:51):
winced at the mermaid's hisses. Adam pulled Kodo in close,
lips brushing against the mermaid's ear. Get a good look coat.
Speaker 2 (45:00):
He asked, because I am going to absorb your essence,
and then he licked his lips and grinned, I'm going
to kill everyone on that ship.
Speaker 1 (45:17):
Ocho. Kodo was wheezed as Adam pushed the ships further
apart with ease, and Kodra watched helplessly. Odo. I love you,
he thought, not once breaking his gaze off of him.
I love you, I love you. I love you and
(45:39):
nuts I promised a happy ending. I did not say
it wouldn't be hard. First, thank you for all of
your love and support, your comments, me in the world
to me. Also a note, the Akkodo Kamawi is a
Japanese cracking type creature, and Chigi is based off of
one of my first cats when I was a kid.
His name was not Chichi, but the description is the same,
and I love him so much. I loved him with
my whole heart. So oh yes, that means that next
(46:01):
chapter a second half of the fight scene in some
nice things, and then we get the beautiful happy epilogue.
So stick with me, and I think that we're going
to have a great time with those next two chapters
of Pearl Diver, and then Pearl Diver's audiobook will be completed.
(46:23):
That's crazy, my god, maybe knowing this for so long
all right, I would normally do a longer inch Field,
But I am sore and tired, and I'm going to
upload this and then try to nap, hopefully before I
have to wake up again in a couple hours. So
(46:44):
I will see you guys next time next month. Actually,
this is the last public episode for October, which means
that unless you're on the Patreon, you're not going to
get to hear from me again this month. But the
patreon still has one left. They are still getting for
the Tears one and two, the podfit four chapter one
(47:07):
of Hell on the Engine that's still coming up. Also,
something special that I did on the Patreon that I
had not told anybody in the public podcast about yet
is I've started doing something called a whip cast. The
name took a minute to workshop, I'll admit, okay, But
a whipcast which means that I record a podfic of
me reading out of my drafts, out of my works
(47:29):
in progress and talking about and annotating them to share
the process, share my vision, share where I'm stuck, you
know what I'm thinking about, what kind of themes I'm
thinking about, motivations, et cetera, etcetera, et cetera. Basically a
pod fix about works that are in progress and illuminating
(47:50):
more of the process, sharing it with you guys. And
of course that means that if you're on the Patreon
and you get like a behind the scenes look while
I'm writing it, and you have any thoughts or you
want to talk about the themes, you could, you can,
you should, okay, and so if you're interested in that,
you should check out the Patreon link is down below. Otherwise,
(48:14):
have a happy, happy Halloween. I hope everybody has a
happy and safe Halloween. Please take care of yourselves. I
hope October has not been full of canon events for
everybody as it seems to have been. It certainly has
been also for me. So you know, if it has been,
(48:36):
you're not alone. If it hasn't been, and you've had
a really good October, then I'm so happy for you.
You know, I haven't had a bad October. I've just
had a lot going on, So okay, I'm going to
see you guys next time.
