Speaker 1 (00:00):
And welcome back to Therapized Bacca Go Podfics with Yes
you saw correctly. This month's special treat another chapter of
the Adventures of Red Riot and Baka Go Kotski. This
time we're here for issue eight. Red Riot meets his match. Ah,

(00:22):
shit's happening. I'm really excited about this one. It is
going to have a new tag which is Slight Angst.
That's appropriate for classic comic book and the sledge Villain,
although that won't be happening in this chapter, but it
will be appearing at the very end of the chapter,
so it will be in here to what capacity, I

(00:46):
can't say. You're gonna have to either read it or
listen till the end. But welcome back. We're here with
the eighth chapter of the Adventures of Red Riot and
Baka Ukotski. And uh yeah, I'm so I'm stoked, honestly,
we're just I know. I usually I yap so much
and I miss you guys, and I could yap to
you forever and many a time. I'll tell you this

(01:06):
many a time between when I can do episodes, because
I only do two episodes a month here for the
Public Pod. Many times in between I've been like, but
I miss you. What if I just yep what it was? Like?
What if I upload the thing that's just me apping?
And I'm like, then everybody will be confused as to
where the story is. People will get hypes that there's
a new story. There will not be a story. There

(01:27):
will just be apping. I don't know about that one,
and then I don't, But I'm just telling you that
I think about it. Okay, I think about you guys,
and I miss you in between. So I hope you
guys miss me too. And I am really really stoked
to just bring you guys teptic. So we're just gonna
dive right in because I'm really stoked. Also, I have plans,

(01:48):
so I'm gonna try to get this done in less
than forty forty forty three forty two minutes. I can't.
First of all, y'all don't know when I'm recording this.
I could have said anything and you wouldn't have known.
But no, I was like, oh, forty five is not accurate.

(02:09):
What's the clock? I had to do math and that
takes me a minute in my head. That's embarrassing. Well,
and look, and now we've apped a bit, so I'm
so excited, so excited. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay.
Here we go beginning notes. Lord, she fought me. This
chapter had hands. Ivory wrote it so many times. But

(02:31):
this leads us into our final act, our last four chapters,
and they are doozysze. So there'll be more notes at
the end. But until then, let's get going. Get the
hell out, deco, Kotsky growled, tensing in Kishima's arms as
he turned to glare at the man in the doorway.
Medoria maintained an unimpressed and somewhat exasperated look on his face,

(02:54):
closing the door behind himself and looking around. Sorry, not happening. Touchhan,
go anywhere until you let me do my job. They're
gonna have to talk to me at some point. Oh,
I'll fuck and talk to you. Kotsky went to step forward,
but was caught around the middle by Kiashima, who pulled
him into a hug from behind and pressed a calming
kiss to the side of his head. I have to

(03:15):
go pick a blue Remember it's okay. I'll see you
tomorrow morning. I'll bring breakfast to the office. All right, yeah,
all right, Kotski felt some of the fight leave his
body again in Kiroshima's arms, and he allowed the other
man to press a final kiss to his temple before
letting him go and Kiashima's quiet farewell to Dekku. Kotski
felt all of that fight walk right back into his body.

(03:39):
You're fucking unbelievable, Kosky bristled, and you're the worst fucking timing.
You are the most annoying fuck on the entire planet.
Deku ignored him, kneeling down instead to Greek Queenie, who
was nosing around his sneakers. If you didn't keep leaving
the family group chat, you'dn't known I was coming. Fuck now,
I'm not getting expanded with eight hundred daily texts from
the three of you about the stupid shah anyone's ever

(04:00):
heard of. You just want me to join so you
can demand pictures of my cat. Kotsky clicked his teeth twice,
and Queenie abandoned deck Wo's penning to run over to Kotsky,
who picked her up with a smug grin. Deck Wu
looked a little exhausted and irritated. Kotsky huffed out a
satisfied breath, but kept his expression as neutral as possible,
which was to say he looked extremely self satisfied. Fine,

(04:23):
give me your articles to edit. I know you have
them ready to hand them over, and I'll have the
edits ready for you by lunch. Why not by morning, slacker,
Kotsky poked and Decu fixed him with an unimpressed gaze.
Because I'm not working overnight just because you play keep
away with my work all day. Katchan Deko took a
deep breath. Are you actually that mad that I'm here? Fuck? Fuck,

(04:46):
asked motherfucker He knew Kotsky. He knew Kosky hated it
when he fucking cried. All Decko had to do is
make those freakishly round eyes water and Koski feels stressed,
spike in his chest? Was he really that mad? Okay?
Sure he was mad, he'd been bly Dekus. Showing up
at his workplace after they had such issues together professionally
before was tough. He judged up a lot of uncomfortable

(05:07):
memories and feelings. Their relationship had always been complicated. Family
was always someone complicated. Kotsky loved his family, but their
relationship was at its absolute best when he didn't see
them every day. His parents lived in a suburb just
outside of the town they'd retired to, just outside of
town where they'd retired around the time Katski started working

(05:27):
at the paper, and Deku, who had been with them
since Kotsky was three after his mother passed, had been
on track to be a writer just like Kotski, but
for another paper in another city, or so Kotsky had
initially thought. It was often stressful, competing constantly as they
did for the same awards, the same internships, the same gigs,

(05:48):
but it was also how they spent time together. I'm sorry,
my throw, I really joyed for secon one second when
Kotsky brought the When Kotsky thought back to high school,
he didn't remember any parties or social events. He remembered
sitting at a kitchen table across from Deku, both of
them surrounded by books while his dad periodically placed snacks
at their sides that didn't entirely starve while trying to

(06:09):
meet whatever current deadline they were racing towards. He remembered
both of them getting chosen for the school paper, both
of them buying for the best pieces and alternating the
winds every loss had burned in Kotski like a hot poker,
pushing him to work harder to make up for it,
and every time he won, he knew it did the
same to Dekku, and he knew he couldn't rest a
second lest he be bested again, and he was then.

(06:30):
So the cycle went on, and when he thought of university,
the only thing that changed was that their parents had
to drive up to see them once a month to
bring them some home cooking Dad and yell at them
to get some fucking sunlight Mom. The only thing that
was never much of a competition between them was likability
through school, university internships, even mentorships. Plus Ultra Daily was

(06:53):
the first paper where Koski had been without Iszuku, and
the first paper where he'd been free to establish himself
outside of the constant comparison him. Sure, he wasn't missed
her popular, but he was respected and his work was respected.
Sarah shared their cubicle wall without a fuss. Sometimes Kotsky
would gruffly toss him an extra granola bar if he
had one, and Sarah didn't complain when Kotsky stole his supplies,

(07:15):
and he never tried to make Kotsky engage in small talk. Cuminari,
as annoying as he could be, had no hesitation, and
perhaps he should have some hesitation in bothering Kotski or
yapping his ear off, or inviting himself along to wherever
Kotsky was going. And Isawa. Kotsky respected Isawa more than
any person he'd ever met except his parents, and Isawa,

(07:37):
for all his exasperation, respected Kotsky. He'd become the mentor
Kotsky had always secretly dreamed of having. Kotsky had been
ready to compete with Dekku from Afar, finally on more
even ground, now that the social aspects of their jobs
would no longer get in their way. When Deko had
announced he was switching gears to focus on work as

(07:57):
an editor, and blown there carefully, finally, carefully balanced dynamic,
completely out of the water. Even with a couple of
years since that, he's had to calm down, and fuck you,
he has calmed down. All that means is that when
they saw each other for holidays or parent birthdays, Koski
didn't immediately try to throttle the little shit on site,

(08:17):
and instead he let everyone have several hours of family
time first. He even let Deku provoke him into it
sometimes because Kotski could be fucking mature like that. That
didn't mean he wanted Deku to waltz into his paper,
become his editor, insert himself as an option. He knows
damn well that everyone will compare him to and that

(08:38):
anyone would choose over I'll always prefer you, no matter what.
Koshima's words echoed in his mind, bringing his internal spiral
to a halt. Okay, not everyone, maybe not everyone would
choose Dekku over him. Cat John Deku prompted with road brows.
I tried to text you, but you forgot to unblock

(08:59):
my number. I didn't go out for this job. I
was looking to move up and I saw what was
looking for an editor, and my boss recommended me. I
had an offer waiting before I even knew it had happened,
and it was too good of an opportunity to pass up.
Kotsky gritted his teeth as the attention he'd managed to
lose crept back and again, I need to brag, Deku.
I don't need to hear how he I don't need
to hear how they begged you to fucking come here.

(09:20):
Deku groaned, That's not what I meant or what happened.
Are you really that fucking mad at me still for
not writing anymore? Because I crazily maybe was really excited
to work with you again. Katsky narrowed his eyes as
he held Queenie a little bit tighter, allowing her to
burrow into his chest and neck. What do you mean again,

(09:41):
We've never fucking worked together on anything. Deku was silent,
worryingly silent, for a concerning amount of time before he
very quietly murmured, put Queenie down, the hair on Kotsky's neck.
Soka stood up, Fuck you, you don't tell me what to do?
Put her down, contents so I can hit you. Fuck you.

(10:02):
But Kotsky let Queenie jump out of his arms as
he dodged a well timed smack. Get the fuck I
know you're not that fucking stupid catch on. Deku grabbed
the nearest thing he could reach, a throw pillow off
of the couch, and started beating Kotsky over the head
with it. Where was red Wyat? I was doing so well,
red Wyat, wed Wyat? Where was wed Wyat when you

(10:25):
needed saving? Where was red riot when you needed saving?
Huh quit, Kotsky swore, before all but tackling Deku around
the middle, knocking them both into the living room section
of his apartment as they tumbled onto the floor. Real
mature asshole, Kotsky griped as he grabbed the throw pillow
from the floor and started smacking a Zuku with it

(10:45):
repeatedly until the slightly younger man pinched him in the side.
He swore again, losing his balance as he jerked back.
Deka took the opportunity to sweep Kotsky's knees off of
the rug and flip them around, now pinning Kotsky with
the same pillow pressed to his chest. Kotsky only imagine how
ridiculous they looked, two grown men in their thirties, both
still in their rumpuled work clothes, Deku still wearing his

(11:06):
blazer even though was hanging onto his shoulders. For dear life,
will you fucking work with me again or not? Deku
pushed down on Kotsky's shoulders through the pillow, and Kotsky
managed not to stick his tongue out before he threw
one leg up, effectively kicking Zuku's lower back and sending
him tumbling off of him. The two panted on the
floor for a moment, eyeing each other warily. Kotski thought

(11:28):
about Kiroshima, about how the direct communication had so narrowly
avoided so many and how their direct communication had so
narrowly avoided many little misunderstandings that could have gotten in
their way. He imagined Kiroshima standing in their doorway watching
them tussle, and wondered what he would say. Oh fuck wordlessly,

(11:49):
Kotsky got up and grabbed his bag, pulling a USB
out of the pocket and unceremoniously dropping it on Decu's head,
where he was laid on the carpet. Still. If I
hate your edits, I'll get you fucking fired. Deki's annoying
ass bug eyes all but sparkled, and Kotsky frowned. And
don't fucking tell anyone related. Kotski relaxed a little as
he saw Deku roll his eyes but nod. If they

(12:10):
see a single family photo, they'll know katsch on. Haven't
they seen any? He looked around, and the apartment walls
barren of anything, with the occasional piece of all my memorabilia.
Did you even have any up here? I don't see them. No,
I know what you all look like. I don't need
a fucking reminder. Kotski deadpant, conveniently ignoring that there was
a photostrip of pictures of him and Kami at a
festival she'd forced him to go too, stuck with a

(12:32):
Magnetu's fridge next to a couple instant photos she'd taken
of Queenie and her various Halloween costumes as he reached
out to drag Deku back up to his feet. His
parents and Deku may be annoying, but nobody could contain
the overbearing power of Kami when she wanted something. Kotsky
knew the limit of his stubbornness, and that limit happened
to wear six and chiels and never stopped talking. So
you're not, Matt. We're fine. We don't need to talk

(12:54):
about it. We're not going to talk about it. Oh
did you finally process some thing on your own? I've
changed my mind walking to traffic, see if I care
ha get and cry about that one later too, or
is that reserved for stupid shit we said in high school?
Deku dodged a swipe of Kotsky's hand with ease, clutching
the USB tightly in one hand and smoothing out his
blazer with the other. Okay, it's late. I'm gonna go

(13:17):
home where you're welcome anytime, and you'll find the address
in our texts when you unblock me. I'll send you
my edits at noon. Oh and catch on, Deku babbled
as he made his way back out to the door,
waving a quick goodbye to Queenie, who had taken to
an armchair to sleep while they duped their feelings out.
Kotsky felt Koski felt ten years older all at once
as he saw a familiar spark of mischief in Deco's eye. What, Dokku,

(13:42):
you might want to schedule some time in DECI shin
so tomorrow about your new relate. Kosky shoved him across
the entryway and slammed the door in his face, glaring
into space as he heard his fuck ass laughter echoed
down the hallway. He let out a deep breath before
gently collecting Queenie and heading to his bedroom for the night,
depositing her on the bed before trudging into the back
room to wash the day off, the day that had

(14:03):
felt like it lasted weeks. That's how he thought about
it as he felt the warm shower water wash some
of the tension out of his body, distress at work,
rejecting Red Riot Karoshi by confessing to him doing things
out with Deku Chress on a cracker, Kosky was going
to sleep like the fucking dead to night. There was
a knock. There was a knock on glass, as in

(14:28):
the glass door of his balcony. You've gotta be fucking kidding,
he groaned. Okay, he whined a little, but fuck it,
nobody could hear him. Wait, he paused as he heard
a faint grinding, sort of distorted bark. Red Riots laugh.
But how unless he that fuck? Kosky grabbed his robe

(14:51):
and tied it around himself tightly. As he stormed out
of his bathroom, out of his bedroom and opened the
balcony door. Red you better be fucking dying, Red Riots
before him, closer than expected, with a clearly smug expression
on his sharp features. Just checking in on my favorite
civilian fanboy. I don't think you're supposed to have a favorite.

(15:11):
Kosky raised an eyebrow before glaring and fuck you for
not telling me you a fucking super hearing took you
long enough. I was getting worried that smoke Inhalaesia had
done some brain damage after all. Nice, Seriously, why are
you here? You're pretty on edged today. When we spoke,
I figured i'd drop by and check on you. You
said we're friends, right, Friends check on each other. Ryot's

(15:35):
words would have sounded a lot more genuine if he
didn't look so goddamn smug. Koski didn't know what he
could possibly be so smug about, but he was far
too tired to try to figure it out. Friends usually text.
But sure, I'm fine, tired, going to bed, He gestured
to his robe, before pausing as he saw red Riot
look at him up and down much slower than necessary,

(15:57):
and Kotsky began to smirk to himself. And I'm spoken
for now, so consider your hopes crushed, he snorted. Red
Riot grinned, jaw dropping to accommodate the stretch of his smile,
fangs glinting in the low light as he smoothly replied,
I'm devastated. I can tell Kotsky couldn't help. Kotsky couldn't

(16:19):
help it, as his own grin broke out on his face.
They stood there for a long moment, just grinning at
each other in silence, until a cool breeze reminded Kotsky
that he was dripping wet on his balcony in just
a fluffy rope. Well, I can see you're all set,
then guess I'll have to go drown my sorrows all
by myself. Riot barked a laugh again, and Kotsky shook

(16:40):
his head a small laugh of disbelief, escaping, you're fucking weird.
You know that. It's important to me that you know that.
May have heard it once or twice. Good night, fanboy,
Riot smiled as he dropped off of Kotsky's balcony like
it was just a street curb and not several stories high.
Kotsky shook his head as he headed back into his
apartment hum finally finishing a shower and crawling into a soft,

(17:07):
warm bed with Queenie curling up beside him. Before succumbing
to sleep, he managed to reply to whatever nonsense came
he had sent him with the driest update of his
love life he could think of. So that when she
lost so when she woke up, she'd lose her mind
and spam him in an absolute state, and he could
enjoy the slow torture of making her wait for their
weekly call to get the fold details. And replied the
sweet good night text that he'd received from a too,

(17:28):
complete with a cute picture of a sleeping blue ride
on his bed pillow, completely ignoring the expensive beds he'd
bought her. The day had been exhausting, true, but also,
Kotski thought as he fell asleep, not quite so bad
after all. From there, the weeks began to fly by.
The spring came properly now, with no residual bouts of

(17:51):
snow or icy rain, finally warming everyone back up, bringing
color back to the landscape. The mob outside their offices
dwindled after some counter protests forced them back. Inspired citizens
coming together in the wake of Kotsky's series of articles
about acceptance of superpowered people and the ways they're set
up to be neglected by society, more initiatives had started

(18:12):
popping up all over the city. Plans for super shelters
were being demanded from city officials. Local politicians had begun
choosing official stances on people with powers, some against but
most in favor of them. Though of course, not all
for the right reasons. It was still a mess, but
a mess that was moving moving, Kotski hoped in the
right direction, albeit slowly. After a couple more talks about

(18:35):
it with Kiroshima, Kotski ended up calling his dad and
talking out the situation of trying to work with Dekku.
And it had been his dad who pointed out the
possibility that they could potentially and not that he needed
it be better as a journalistic team than they were apart. Embarrassingly,
this had not occurred to Kotsky, who typically absolutely fucking
hated working with others directly, and he said as much,

(18:56):
only to be humbled gently again when his father calmly
mentioned how much working with Kaimi had helped him, especially
in regards to broadening his horizon to more points of
view he hadn't been aware of before, seeing the world
through Kimi's eyes. Fuck, when do I get the old
man wisdom so I don't have to go throw this bullshit? Then,
he asked his father, only for his dad to laugh
and reply hopefully not for a long time. Raising you

(19:18):
two keeps me sharper than Sudoku at work. Kotsky and
Agro had decided to continue keeping a low profile and
keep their budding relationship just for themselves. Deku had been
sworn to secrecy via ancient fraternal ritual Kotsky had written
to break into his apartment and steal his mint conditioned
golden age. All my vacing figure, All might action figure.

(19:39):
They took their lunches together when they could, which wasn't
as often as they'd liked, but enough to make them happy.
Sometimes Danki would invite himself and Sarah. Even Shinzo would
sometimes drink his coffee in the group's immediate vicinity. Deku
was sometimes nearby as well, but he had hit it
off best with the layout department Mina and Uaraka, as
well as the younger Ida and Toto, much to Kotski's chagrin,

(20:02):
as he was fairly certain that the combination of Dekku's
and Totoroki's personalities together was a recipe developed in a
government facility specifically to make him insane. Fortunately, Deku kept
his word as Kotskid always expected him to, and kept
their relation a secret, at least for the time being,
seeing as it had been a little over two months
since he'd joined the paper, and nobody had abandoned Kotsky

(20:23):
or compared the tu in anyway. A lot of his
initial anxieties were settling. His relationship with asau was unchanged.
If anything, they had commiserated an unspoken solidarity when Azuku
had been particularly energetic during a meeting when the coffee
machine was broken and Isaua had looked across the desk
to suddenly meet Kotsky's eye, and in that moment Kotski
had felt a kinship with his mentor as they both

(20:45):
tuned Dikku out for a few minutes out of sheer
self preservation. A couple hours later, a coffee from a
nearby cafe had appeared on his desk when he'd returned
from a quick visit with Kiroshima under the guise of
dropping off paperwork to Dekku. The coffee had been perfectly strong,
no milk, no sugar, no name on the cup. Only
when Kotsky looked around did he see an identical cup

(21:06):
in Isawah's hand. Before his boss had shut the door
to his office and closed the blinds with little more
than a subtle nod in his direction. Even Red Riot
was doing well. He still teased Kotsky occasionally about breaking
his heart. He saved lives, rescued cats from trees, spoke
more consistently to the public when performing his heroic deeds,
which were doing wonders for public support. Bits and pieces

(21:29):
of merchandise were starting to pop up. Nothing officially licensed
or affiliated with him, but vendors shilled shirts with his
hero name on them, and there were stickers with his
likeness tagged all over the city. They had accepted him.
Kotsky had one of his stickers on his water bottle,
and he felt a small burst of pride every time
he looked at it. All in all, Kotsky was happy,

(21:50):
really happy in a way he'd never been as fully before.
Happy enough, in fact, that as he sat down on
a blanket in one of the city's parks for the
paper's annuals spring picnic, he didn't even glare. When Cuminari
began his apparently obligatory reading from the Hall of Fame
February second, Baka go v Shinso received a citation for

(22:14):
calling him, would you like to do the honor? Shinso?
Cuminari grinned, and Shinto leaned in to read from the
thick folder in his hands. He called me an insomniatic
caffeine addict with hair like I stuck my dick in
a socket. Shinto Drawled, running his hand through a forementioned
hair and doing nothing to help his case in Kotsky's opinion,
As he snorted into his cup while everyone laughed, even

(22:35):
Isawa seemed to have a bit of an upticker on
the corner of his lips. Kotski glanced around until he
found Adro's eyes, from where the other man was standing
a bit further away, previously embroiled in some conversation with
the layout team in Saro. Adro's gaze was soft and
endlessly fond, and Kotski felt his cheeks warm up under
the affection. He sent Adro a small private smile and

(22:56):
couldn't help but widen it when he saw how every
inch of Adria seemed to instantly light up in response.
Cuminari was in the middle of building up to his
next highlight when suddenly everyone was hit by sprays of
water from every angle. Startled and scrambling like everyone else
to shield his eyes and move out of the way,
Kotsky realized that the sprinkler system in the park, but

(23:18):
not the entire sprinkler system in the park had gone off.
In fact, only the sprinklers running directly through their picnic
had gone off, effectively splitting the group in two. As
most of them laughed off the incident as an accident,
maybe even as a funny future anecdote. Kotsky could see, however,
the flash of red that was a dy row. Kotsky

(23:40):
could see the flash of red that was agi row,
shielding the layout team from the worst of it as
he moved them back out of the blast, eyes immediately
scanning for and finding Kotsky again. The blonde went to
wave him off when he froze in the middle of
raising his arms as the water. Oh my god, Oh
my god. Let's hope I don't get copy. I should
be fine. Sorry, my alarm went off in the middle

(24:00):
of raising his arms as the water coming out of
the sprinklers suddenly turned green and thick, quickly bursting the
thin sprinkler heads open to rapidly pour undulating ooze over
the wet grass growing as it fed by the moisture,
and Kotsky stumbled back as it pulled towards his feet.

(24:20):
The others at his side, the others on his side
of the divide, several feet away from him. Still, what
the f he began before the slime began instead of pooling,
to pull and snap itself into a tower, into a mound,
growing broader and taller rapidly, as Kotski realized too late

(24:41):
that he should have been running from the moment it
turned green, because now it had eyes, and now it
had a mouth, and now it was facing him. The
end of the chapter and notes, I'm so tired, key smash.
I have a heart condition, and I have meds. I
have to have my meds adjusted, and it's been very,

(25:02):
very stressful. This fig is a big comfort and a
joy to work on, even if sometimes my deadlines are
a little fuzzy and everyone's knowing it so much, and
it makes me so happy. I love love love you all,
smooches all around. I can only echo this sentiment, I
love love love you all, smooches all around. I'm so
excited because the next time we update, like you guys
get another project from this, we'll be up to date

(25:24):
with how far the fick is progressed. And I have
happy news. I have been working on it a lot,
so maybe we'll be so lucky. Who is to say,
maybe we'll be so lucky, And I don't want to
chox myself, but it would be very cool if maybe
by then ten chapters are out instead of just nine.
But yeah, I am so stoked that everybody's been enjoying this.
I really enjoy reading it. I could. I would reread

(25:47):
this a billion times if I could, And you know what,
maybe one day I will and actually not have any
mistakes in it, although I think they add to the
flavor and the vibe. It's like a little I don't know,
it makes it more fun and personal. So yeah, I'm
very excited about sharing this one, and I look forward
to hearing everybody's reactions to the sledge villain who has

(26:12):
now appeared. He is now on the scene. Also, if
you guys appreciated that the title of this is Red
Right Meets His Match, which actually is about him being
together with Kotski finally being matched, but also meeting the
sledge villain with whom he is fight wise very incompatible technically,
So we'll see how that goes in the next update.

(26:35):
And if you can't wait, you can go read the
next chapter on AO three. The link is in the description.
If you want to have these episodes without ads, you
can go to the Patreon, get on one of the
Patreon tiars and enjoy that. So I'll see you guys
next time. I have to go so that I can
be ready for my plans and yeah bye,
