They Called Her Georgia Lee...

In August of 1997, 12-year-old Georgia Leah Moses went missing in Santa Rosa, California. Nine days later, her body was discovered along the 101 Freeway in Petaluma, about 20 miles south of her last known whereabouts. In spite of many leads and an eye witness description of the last person she was seen with, no one has been arrested or charged in her abduction, rape, and murder. After 24 years with no movement in the case, Angel (Georgia's younger sister) has taken the investigation into her own hands. Since the case is still technically active, resources were limited and information was scarce. So, in 2020, she started from scratch. Retracing every step and every avenue she could think of to gather information on her own. She began reaching out to friends, family, law enforcement, and the residents of Sonoma County to try and piece together the full picture of Georgia's tragic death. In October of 2020 I joined Angel in her hunt for justice, hoping that my history in Sonoma County and my father's connection to the Sheriff's department might help us get some footing with those who have been holding on to her case all this time. But honestly, it was a long shot to begin with, because if next of kin can't get a straight answer, then how would I? Although there are many hurdles facing us, we did get some answers and from some pretty unexpected places. However, with every question we checked off our list, more questions arose. As the months pass and we dig deeper into what was really going on with Georgia in the last year of her life, a story filled with twists, turns and shocking revelations continues to unfold. Similarly to “They Called her Georgia Lee” I’ll be working with families in the pursuit of justice for cold cases that have sat idle for far too long.

The show will feature exclusive audio interviews with law enforcement, experts, advocates and of course, above everything else, families and friends of the victims… because who better to tell ...

Today’s episode is dedicated to those who shared their stories with us, to those who never got the chance to meet this girl, and to those who hope in silence that a Georgia will come along and show them their own strength.

With only two scheduled episodes left, we’re taking this one to Remember Georgia and her lasting impact as told by those who knew her best.

Potential evidence lost. More people coming forward that were never interviewed before. Crime scene evaluation.

We have so many clues, but what do they say?

Going back over everything, Angel and I realized that we needed a trained eye to help us decipher some of these puzzle pieces. We reached out to a 30-year-violent-crimes veteran who sat down with us to do just that.

Plus, we spoke with Mindy Luby and Celeste Winders from Strate...

What does it mean to be a “true crime fan”?

This week we talk with Sarah Turney about her experiences in the true crime community, how tiktok helped catapult her sister’s case forward, and how for her and Angel, the reality of advocating for victims and victims families is not like what you see on TV.

This a two part episode:

Part 1: Promises, Promises.

Since the beginning, the relationship the media had with Georgia was disappointing at best. From articles that victim shame, to ones that completely gloss over her altogether, none of them did her justice. There have been people coming out of the woodwork getting more coverage riding the wave of her name and getting in their fifteen minutes than the story of her life ever did.

*EDITORS NOTE* In this episode I mistakenly give the date June 18th as her second funeral. She was buried on June 17th, 1998. I know it's a small detail, but details matter.

On October 24th, 1997 Mourners gathered from all over the county to attend Georgia’s funeral.

Then on June 17th of the following year, she was finally buried with no family in attendance. Someone made sure that was the case. Someone made sure that no one in Georg...

Georgia was last seen on August 13th, 1997 and in the time between the last sighting and her body being found it seemed that no one knew to look for her. But is that really the case?

Surely someone had to know something was wrong… Someone had to know that she was not where she was expected to be. But the more people we talk to the more we realize that “Where was Georgia?” is a question that goes back months before her murder.
