Speaker 1 (00:15):
All right, welcome to another edition of Tighten Up with
James Jr. I'm James Lott Jr. And I wanted to
talk to you about how generations are viewing plastic and
cosmetic procedures these days. Everything's changing now. And I mean
when I you know, I'm a I'm a gen exert.

(00:35):
I remember when I was a kid, it was done
in secret. You didn't talk about it. You know, it
was like it started to come out. And this is
way back in the day. It was never celebrated. It
was made fun of. It was a joke thing, you know,
Joan Rivers, Phila Stiller, all the the whole thing about
them earlier, the early proponents of plast surgery, and then

(00:58):
it started to morphrom them in this end story where
now it is I don't want to celebrate it, but
it's accepted. But still there's some jokey factor in there,
right well, gen Z which is not because this is
two dass after me. So when I'm talking with the millennials,
lineal is kind of are in between. I start talking
to my grandchildren who are gen zs and they're friends

(01:18):
and somebody these nephews and what's going online and I've
been fascinated with gen Z and soon to be jen
Alpha as they start getting of age, what their thoughts
are on things that we just, you know, we have.
And one of the things that I decided to talk
to them about was how they view as well because
their nose done, or get some high cheek bones or

(01:40):
you know, once they get a BBL or whatever, they
they it's a whole different thing. And I'm noticing just
from Mike because it is my again, it's my asking
people my experience. It's a mixture of kind of like
they're into body positivity, they're into individuality. Uh so, they're
into their own eye the beholder beauty. They don't go
for beating standards anymore, classic standards anymore. And also online

(02:06):
has a lot to influence in there. So one of
the things is that gen Z seems to be okay
with plastic surgery cosmetic procedures. Feel like they feel like
it's a form of self expression and they're not ashamed.
They're like, ro need to heide it. I have my
nose done. They just don't really care. They feel like

(02:29):
it's very much a personal choice and they don't view
it as vanity. I mean they tell you do anything.
It's kind of vanity, right, but they don't view it
that way. They just view it as well, you know it,
don't you know what's done? You should lip done? You
lip done? You want to add this? Sakos are piercings, tattoos.
They're much more lenient about it than past generations have been.

(02:52):
They also see all this stuff on TikTok you know,
big Instagram, Snapchat. There's a lot of this kind of
filtered reality that happens and curation of how we look
on our social media. And I don't know I'm talking

(03:14):
to them. They were just some of the ones I
talking to. They felt like it's average and kind of normal.
If you want a rhinoplasty or some botox or some
lip fillers, they don't. They don't have that. They just

(03:35):
go okay, I think it's just something. They see it
all the times. They're like, okay, you know, bloble lips, things,
anything that kind of They just be like, oh, they
don't care about age. It's like in terms of like
I'm fifty to do it, They're like, well, I do
it now. I'm kind of good for a while. But
they see their favorite stars doing it. They see their
favorite as young as their twenties are doing it. They're singers, actors, dancers,

(03:59):
So they're just kind of like, Okay, I guess it's
kind of normal. It seems that there are a lot
of gen zers who are going into preventative measures more.
They're trying to like I said, I just mentioned Earli
about getting botox or twice. I guess too early. From
that's that's what I think. They're trying to get it

(04:23):
in order now so that they so it's just now,
it's just maintaining a maintenance later, not waiting till it
starts to happen, and then they're trying to do preventively.
I again, I just say said, I just don't know
how I feel about that personally, but they I see
what they're saying. They're kind of like, well, if I
look the same way the whole time, then no one
will do this on this on they talk about, right,

(04:45):
I just like to say the whole time. Yeah, they're
also very transparent. I just said earlier. They don't shame.
It's no shame, right, They're transparent about everything. Gen Zers
are transparent. They talk about all kinds of stuff. So
they're much more transparent about it. So they got something done.
I think my grandson he was promote blast my grandchildren.

(05:07):
He went and got his nose that he had accepted
and stuff done. It was bothering me. He said, we
just get done. I'm having to work it out. They did,
and I have another another gen z or. She was like,
I'm getting my lips done, and my am, I I'm
getting an eyebrow left or something like that. And she
did it and she's only in her twenties and she
was like, it didn't hurt or anything. It was great.

(05:30):
She feels better. And she told me, buddy, why she
did it. But you're you're about to hear maybe more
stories about why people do what they do. And it's like, yeah,
it's not even anything crazy. Gen Z is about personal agency.
You know. Many of the other generations we had to
grow to that they could are coming up already, just like,

(05:53):
it's my body, my choice, I'm gonna do what i want.
I'm asking permission from anybody. And I think it's and
it seems to me and I talk to about of them.
Our generations are all about perfection. I want the perk face,
the perank body, perc boobs. It's not that for them.
It seems it seems like once I talk to you,
it's more about it's I would to feel comfortable with

(06:15):
my skin. I want to look a certain way, and
I perfection, but I just I just rather have bigger lips.
They're gonna be perfect, but I want bigger lips for
rare reason. You know, I want I want, you know,
a more shaped eye just because I just want that,
you know, my nose shaved down just because I want it.
It's not even about like I gonna be perfect. Where

(06:35):
some of our old generations were really overboord on that
now and many of them now this is the part
I'm not sure about. But a lot of them are
saying it's about different checking out during procedures, going to

(06:59):
where it's is not expensive, looking looking, looking out for
themselves and and really doing and doing deep dives into
what is good for them Now. I don't know that's
true or not. I'm still trying to figure that out.

(07:21):
If people are if that generation is very much into it,
I'm not sure if they really are. And I know,
for me, I research everything. I guess I'm over over researcher.
I want to check it out. But they're saying a
gen Z's researching too, So I guess we'll see if
that's true or not. But I'll be curious. Yeah, gen
Z gets older, it gets a tear thirties and forties

(07:42):
and fifties. Hopefully I'll still be around. I'll be curious
to see what they how they actually how they age
and how they really view aging. That will be very
interesting to see, right And if I'm still here, I'll
be covering it. I'm James I Jr. And between having

(08:05):
guests on the show and talking about different procedures, I
have to come on here and talk about just what's
going on out there. And I'm going to continue that
as I do this show kind of mixture in of
things I'm finding out and plus stuff. So there you
have it. Hope you enjoy it. List see other episodes.
