This week we had the pleasure of joining the National Seminar Series at Barefoot Resort as the Grand Strand welcomed George Poveromo and his team back after 10 years. We had a great time and were blessed to be joined by some incredible guides that were speakers in this weeks seminar. Capt Jamie Hough of The Redfish Mafia joins us to talk about what going on in his busy life. He also shares some fishing reports from the Holy City. We are also joined this week by another incredible talented fishermen from Charleston, Capt. Paul Godbout. Paul offers an ingenious program in Charleston where he educates new boat owners on every part of owning a boat including operation, maintenance and more. We are also joined by Sargeant Kevin Pardue of SCDNR, Capt Jason Burton, Capt. Jot Owens, and the crew. Good morning, bish heads. Welcometo the Southern English Radio show,
coming to you live via the ToyotaTundra Studio presented by Sparks Toyota where the
dealers always in and by QY WesBows and Morrison Marine O Lake City and

(00:48):
Georgetown where every day is a boatshow every day. And go ahead by
the Freedom Folk Club where the boatis ready. Oh in harmony, Hey
all right, hey, it isso nice to be back here, and
thank you guys so much for lastweek and cover and I do feel a
lot better and you guys did anincredible job and we have more than fifteen

(01:12):
listeners. I'm gonna tell you atleast seventeen because I got so many text
messages compliment how great the show waslast week. So thank you guys.
Fred. I'm so sorry you didn'tcheck your phone, Fred, Poor Fred.
But anyway, y'all did a greatjob. And we are this week
here at Barefoot Resort for the SaltwaterSeries seminar, and we're excited hang out

(01:38):
with all the crowd over here. We've got some great speakers and hopefully we're
gonna have Jamie Huff join us.We'll have the Plounder Pounder will be joining
us, and hopefully George himself willjoin us. But a great crowd.
I think you would call this asellout crowd from what I've told. So
we're gonna have a good time andhopefully some of us will go in and
get some education. You're gonna goin, aren't you, Matt. My

(02:00):
plans were to go in and geteducated. That's for show. I give
you a props, man, becauseyou really and truthfully have dedicated the last
couple of months to You're really tryingto figure out Pishing and I'm not just
talking the river and everything. You'retrying to figure out pishing, and man,
it's fun. You know. Priorto having kids, you know,

(02:24):
I was always in the water, yep. You know, I had my
key West Bay boat and man, there wasn't nobody water. I didn't travel.
I mean, I was out thereconstantly. When kids came along,
and you know, life struck andyou know it had to go on the
back burner. And now I'm tryingto get back into the swing of things

(02:45):
and learn some new stuff. AndI'm tired of the same old, same
old, and I want to getmy boys out there, you know,
And I owe it to them, really and truly. I watched what they
do. They went out there onthat walk the mall, and they they
learned. They just learned. Theylearned how to bast fish, they learn
tides, and they learned so muchstuff. And I'm like, you know

(03:06):
what, I got to get backout there. Yep. I've been exploring
different bodies of water, and youknow, Fred's going to help me out
with learning some new bodies of water. And you know, I'm just tired
of being stuck in a rut.I want to I want to go explore
some more. You know. Thenumber one factor that Tony always makes reference
to in fishing, and I thinkwe all do. We all realize it,

(03:30):
and we all recognize it. Thenumber one factor in success on the
water is what Tony time on alittle thank you, no substitute and that
boys there you heard obviously the oneand only Fred Bord. But you know,
without a doubt, life changed. We got some of us have kids,

(03:53):
and that can be a good thingat about. It's a great thing.
Don't get me wrong, I getit, but it is a good
excuse if you take them fish, yes, take them with you. Don't
leave them at home, take themwith you. And again I want to
say this, I watched and Iread all the Facebook posts from last week.
Oh by the way, Lucas,I'll tell you a little bit about

(04:14):
that real So I've watched the Facebookpost last week from Salt and dude,
it is so awesome to see howSalt has grown and to see the number
of girls, the number of youngyoung anglers that are fishing it and bass
and redfish. I don't care whichone your targeting. And you know we
can make all our drink drinking water, fishing water, whatever comments you want,

(04:38):
just get them out there. Fishing. I can remember, you know,
coach posting and I call him coachPosting. You know, Ravern and
I have a long I call himcoach Captain, Coach Cattain, coach captain.
And Ravern and I we we coachedConway together and we were the defensive
line coaches. And that's such abig group that usually have two coaches for
And I remember we were in ourpractice one day and getting ready to go

(05:00):
to Andy period and Ray said,I'm get ready to start a bass fishing
club. My very question started laughing. I said why, yep. He
said, I just want to getkids involved in fishing. I'm like,
really, when my man went andbought him a new boat and and I'm
like, and I have watched thisthing grow over the years, and I
got to tell you, Rayburn hasdone a phenomenal job with this thing from

(05:23):
where it began to where it isnow. It's it's it's incredible. And
now he's partnering with f c Ayep, and going to expand it down
into Beaufort and in Hilton Head andhe's going to be the fishing contact on
the South Carolina coast for UH forf CFC A yep, and they are
so. So Rayburn next year willbe retiring from teaching, you will,

(05:45):
and so he's going to have alot of time on his hands. And
I think that the the the planthat he's got laid out now is a
lot more clearer, yes, forthose of us on the outside also,
which was a point packed that Ihad not issues with, but I just
couldn't understand where it was going withit, because once again, I have
been a proponent for salt since dayone, actually going back prior to salt,

(06:12):
and that would be the Conway Anglers, the Tiger Anglers, in which
I still say that those first seminarsthat we had at Conway were the biggest
seminars that we've ever had down here. They were big, they were huge,
and to see, you know, what he's got laid out for the
future is great and it's only goingto grow, grow, grow. And

(06:33):
the way you do that is,if you want to learn fishing, you
come to seminars like we're here, like we're at right here today. George
brings in an incredible crowd of speakers, and I think the way he ties
in national guys with the local guys, you get such a good input and
so much intel from you know. You take a guy who fishes in Florida

(06:58):
all the time. Yeah, he'snot going to understand a lot about what
we do, but you can applywhat he has, can apply what he
does. I'll just tell you thatmy jig fishing for sheep said, started
thirteen years ago. I never hadfished for a sheep, said with a
jig, and never would I thoughtof it. My mind were for a
sheep, said, with small, heavy hook and fiddler crabs. Obviously,

(07:23):
never would I thought about a jighead. I go down there. I show
up at Selfish Marina at the filmthe show with Greg Bogden. We're gonna
go selfishing. We hit the jettiesand it's seven foot. We turn around,
he goes hang on a second. He drives over to the bait boat.
He picks up a couple of fiddlercrabs and literally in the channel right

(07:44):
there, looking at Selfish Marina, looking at all buccaneers, all the big
marinas. We start filming the show, catching sheep's head on Jim on the
banks, Yes, on the bankof where the drop off is in the
ICW And it's just like fishing forreef refishing for them. So we're fishing
with a jighead with live with shrimp. I'm sorry, we were using live

(08:05):
shrimp, okay. And so we'reusing a jighead and I'm like, oh
my god, I'm going home andtrying this, Like I am taking this
home and trying it. Well.Sure, and Brooch had just come out
with Fishizzle. They had just comeout with fishes, fishes, fisheszles.
And we went to Paula's reap andput fiddle crabs on it. And it

(08:26):
was this year it snowed at Valentine's. Everybody remember that. And it was
the day after the snow. Westill let snow on the boat. We
had to knock it off and wewent and oh my god. Since then,
you know, if I'm refishing,I'm going to have a jig.
Somebody on the boat or me isgoing to be fishing with a jig.
And I love it. Well. One thing about these seminars, and to
include us in that, is thatpeople are listening to us on the radio,

(08:50):
right, they don't see us.Right, We're we talk about something
and explain it the best we can. Well, we're absolutely approachable. So
you come, you can actually puta face with a voice, and the
same thing with these guys that aregonna be doing a seminar. You you
can go up to George program. You se him on TV for thirty years,
yep. But you can go uptalk fishing with George or with one

(09:11):
of us. And and I wantto encourage everybody. Don't feel like you
can approach anybody. You see everybodyhere, Yeah, everybody there and including
our crowd, and come over andtalk to us. You know, we're
ready to talk fishing anytime, becauseat the end of the day, we're
just like, yeah, we're nodifferent. Yeah, we're the same people
you are. We just love Andby the way, don't be surprised if

(09:33):
we ask you a question. You'reright to that we may ask you a
question. Yeah. Well, Itell you. I'm super excited to hear
Paul Paul Godba talk. Paul isfrom Charleston. Paul is selsfish. If
you were ever on Charleston Fishing dotcom, he was the man sellsfish.
Paul is an incredible wahoo fisherman, but he's also a really, really,

(09:54):
really good bottom fisherman. So Ican't wait to hear him speak today.
I know he's going to be sharinga He also writes part time for Trilogy
Outdoors magazine, so it's gonna begreat to see him and listen to him.
And then the other one, JamieHuff, a great insure fisherman from
Paulie's Island for those that don't know, originally from Paulie's Island, So let's

(10:15):
get that straight. But to thinkthat if possibly gonna be Chris Osman,
Jamie Huff and Jason on stage together, yeah, you know speaking, that's
gonna be fun. Yeah, ifyou're still debating on whether you want to
attend, which you can, youcan, is that you're gonna go,
well are they Are they gonna coverwhat I like to do? Yes,
everything from you know, trout fishingto marlin fishing is covered. You gonna

(10:39):
hear guys that do that with youknow a number of guys talking the same
subject. Yep, their techniques andlike you said earlier, you can learn
the technique from Florida. All thisstuff could apply back to where we are
right now. So if if youan insure guy, all sure guy doesn't
matter, you're gonna get your fill. Plus the some great giveaways at this

(11:01):
show. I know that's it.I'm Matt. I was like, Matt,
hey, man, I'll pay foryou to go fish in the bass
tournament. No, I think we'regonna come to the seminar. Yeah.
Well, I talked to chef Richardthis week. He said he attended one
in California and he was like hidinganyone. He said, he won so
much he want his name called again. He don't think this thing's rick.

(11:24):
I want some stuff. Tell youyou know you mentioned it earlier, you
know about me getting out of theirfishing. But I got to give you
know, I said, I said, my boys, but I got to
give this group credit. Man,y'all have got me back on the water.
You know, I'm out there constantly, but I'm selling boats, I'm
moving boats, I'm touring people.I'm out there all the time. But
I didn't fish as much as Ido now, and I am thankful for
that. I enjoy I forgot howmuch I enjoyed it. Oh, it's

(11:46):
hard enough to get inspired hanging outwith these guys. And I tell you
you know what I just thaw. You get your butt kicked by this crew.
So I want, you know,I want to get out there and
trust me like I've been texting misterReagan over there this week. I got
something that I want to do andhe's been very kind to share some information
with me. And I will neverever ever like and Chris got to know

(12:13):
me. I mean I have neverasked him directly like, hey, where
were you at? Have I?Have I ever asked you and everything?
No? And I would never dothat, but I did. I did
kind of figure out where he mayhave been. Yeah, it's not hard.
And we were just discussing some differentoptions on the area as far as
when to be there and different things. And he had success at a time

(12:35):
that I've never had success. AndI've been fishing there for a long time
in a different tide. You've calledhim in a different tide. But I
mean, it is hard in thiscrowd not to be inspired. And the
fact that we now have seven toeight people. Hello, how many oaths
we got now? Nine? Idon't know. Anyway, we got seven
to nine of us, and meand Tommy and Tony are the three that

(12:56):
fished the least. Remember, ButI remember back in the day when I
used to pick on Tony and Kennyabout how little day fish. Well,
we don't fish anything compared to y'all. So we're cheating because we got we
got intel coming from all different anglesnow, but all right, and we
got the seminar today. But Iyou know, being around this group,

(13:16):
I'm fortunate to get a seminar everyweek, you know, from here.
And when y'all start talking, especiallyTony, because I'm a fresh water guy.
You know what's that commercial? Youknow? E F. Hutton?
You know when he speaks, listenbody, listen, I shut up and listen,
you know, because I've applied somuch that Tony has has said,
I'll never forget. He said, when when the leaves are on the water,

(13:37):
you need to start fishing top water, I said. And I was
out there one day and I sawall this trash on the top water and
my boys, of course fishing waterand fishing worms. That's what they like
to do. Well, I grabbeda wapper popper and I fell in love
that day. I'm going to tellyou another big tip that we'll pay off.
And I know it came up twoweeks ago in the show. We
brought it up. I think whenyou were there last time you were there,

(13:58):
it came up not only those leaves, but if you pull that top
water out and you throw it andyou do not see a bubble trail behind
it. Put it back. Gosomewhere, don't, don't go somewhere different.
You don't know. It's not becausethe fish aren't there, right that
bubble trail pressure baronmetric pressure, huh, barometric pressure. And it is unbelievable.

(14:22):
I can tell you that we havegone into one creek, and Tony
will come completely remember this day wewent into it. Ain't it. We
went into a creek and we gotto the mouth of the creek and I
threw top water the first two hundredyards. Tony's laughing the whole time.
He's over there throwing that square bill. He didn't tell you throwing that square
bill. He catches two fish.Well, we get back and we get

(14:46):
to where the creek makes a turn, and we're back in there a little
further, and all of a suddenthere's a bubble trail. Like how in
the world did all of a suddenthere started to be a bubble trail?
Gets who started catching fish? Themicro mini buzz bait my go to bait.
I needed three rods and that allthree had micro mini buzz baits.
Tied on them because I was losingthem, I'd get tangled up in the

(15:07):
tree. But that little bit ofbeerometric pressure change. When what we was
talking about is when you pull abuzz bait across the water, you'll see
the bubble trail behind it. Yep. If you see them in bubbles dissipating
immediately and it's not leaving a trail, it's because of the barometric pressure putting
force down boom. It's not lettingthat sit on the water. The bubbles

(15:30):
won't sit there. You've got alow oxygen rate and high bearometric pressure.
Yep. So no matter how badyou want to throw top water, let
the water dictate it. I mean, the fish are always the fish first
and foremost should always dictate what thehell you're doing. Anyway, No,
you can't see that on forward faceson, you cannot see And by the
way, just to let everybody know, y'all gotta go check out Trilogy Outdoors

(15:54):
podcast. This week Andrew Upshaw fromLet's Fish TV joined us. It's a
great episode, about an hour andforty five minutes. We got going,
but a lot of great topics covered. Tony. I think you'll agree with
me that Andrew is Andrew's great inthe world of social media, is one
of the best out there, youknow some of I mean, it's hard

(16:18):
to argue with him bout anything. The man was the first college national champion
that qualified for the bast Master Classic. He's got an incredible record, and
he hosts probably one of the mostthe hardest outdoor television shows to host in
thirty nine new episodes a year andcompetes full time on The bass Masters Open

(16:45):
EQ. But it was a greatepisode, and you need to go check
that out trilogy Outdoors on all yourpodcast platforms and what else. It's real
easy to see why Andrew is likehe is because look at his surroundings.
Yep. You surround yourself with goodpeople, quality fishermen. It makes a

(17:10):
difference, it makes you better.Yep. I mean, I mean,
we're talking about it. Andrew does. Andrew does a lot of podcasts,
a lot of different things, buthe does the bass Master's Fantasy Fishing Picks.
He does it with Ish Munro,he does it with Todd Castledein,
who is another one that is likeone of the when it comes to the
world of social media, That manis the man probably one of the top

(17:30):
five in bass, wouldn't you sayprobably five to ten in top He's that
guy that proved everybody that you coulddo it, You could do it right
right, and make not just aliving doing it, but you could make
a good, good living yep, doing it. Like if he never pishes

(17:52):
another bass tournament, Yeah, wellyou're still going to consider him to be
a bass pro even though he's makingmore money than all the bass pros and
he's not pishing an a tournament.Hello, I gotta do some research.
There's your power of social media. He still fishing tournaments. He just doesn't
fish the tour anymore. He gotaway from fishing with the FLW and stuff
like that and just started doing hiscontent and doing his thing. And he

(18:15):
fishes local tournaments. But the localtournaments he's fishing, he's fishing for one
hundred and fifty thousand dollars for thesetournaments. It's amazing. It's just little
local tournaments around Texas and he makesten times it's easily ten times the money

(18:40):
now that he did when he fishedon twenty fish. Yeah, but your
expenses are less. You get topick and choose fish your home water.
Yep. So he actually talked aboutthat. He said, you know,
I got to go do like atwo for one because there was two tournaments
coming up that was back to back, and instead of me having to go
run a hotel room, I hada but did it stayed there so I

(19:00):
was able to stay with him fortwo weeks, cut my costs down and
I got to fish both tournaments asto where that would have cost him another
twenty five hundred bucks and hotel anddriving back and forth and stuff like that.
So he manages his time as wellas anybody. You'll ever see you

(19:22):
on social media. Captain Chris Reganjoined us from Carolina Hook and ply.
You guys have been busy this week. Are you still a fishing captain or
if you've become a what do theycall that? A builder, a carpenter.
Yeah, I'm a laborer this week. Yeah, it's been busy.
Everything is finally getting close to beingdone, so I'll be back on the

(19:45):
lot. It's great, ill,but it looks really good. Y'all did
a good job. Tony goes Man. I said to Tony, I said,
do you really think Jason has hadanything to do with that? I
mean, other than maybe paying forthe bill and standing behind me the fence
and cheering for you'll hang out andcheering like I love it, JAJ like,
oh, we're working hard over here. I'm like, dude, I
know you and I love you alot, but I know who's doing the

(20:07):
work. I mean, I knowwho knows what they're doing, and it's
that man. And of course Nathan. I'm sure was Nate or one of
those was tied into that. No, it was all a it was a
group effort, you know. MI FC new and improved two point zero.
I mean nice, it's gonna bereally nice. Yeah, hopefully within
the next week we'll be able tore merchandise it. I've got a little

(20:27):
bit of you know, touches thedude to finish up. But uh,
it's come a long ways from whatit was, and it's it's nice.
That new aluminum fold up window isgoing to be a lot nicer. Yeah,
lighter, I'm guessing a little bitlighter. The biggest thing was the
other one. You know, itlasted six eight years and uh it just
deteriorated over time. So this onewill last a lifetime and uh, you

(20:49):
know, opens up a little bithigher, so more merchandising, more visual
aspect of it. So it's gonnabe nice, well great. Hopefully this
week the rapt will be on andye know, I got a little bit
of flooring to do and paint's done, and I can't wait to get in
there and see it. Yeah,go see it. I haven't seen it,
seen the pictures, but I haven'tbeen in there since. I have
not even been into parking lot sincey'all. I've seen y'all that day getting

(21:11):
all the lumber. Yeah, that'sright, All right, Well, listen,
we're gotta go to break forty fiveminutes. You got to get out
here still get signed up and ticketsare still on seal at the door here.
We come out to the Barefoot Resorthere at the Comperence Center and we're
gonna go to break. So Jenna, get that tuned up there, Okay,
all right? Perfect, Well, hey y'all, don't go anywhere.
This is Southern English Radio Show onthe gate of one oh seven point nine.

(21:33):
We'll be right back on the otherside of the break. Hey,
y'all, kept an eat here withSouthern English Radio Show. And I'll tell
you what. I am super excitedto be down in the Pond Roads storage
in Merle's Inlet. I'm located withinmoments of either going to the river or
going to put in the inlet.I'm keeping that key west two fifty bay
reef indoors and it is staying ingreat shape. I only have to wash

(21:55):
the boat once now, and that'swhen I put it up, and not
before I take it to go fishing. But you can get incredible options here.
Twenty foot wide, fifty foot deep, with fourteen foot roll up doors,
a most state of the art securitysystem to keep you that peace of
mind on all your products that youmay keep in the storage buildings. You've
got climate controlled or non climate controlledoutdoor storage for trailers, rbs and such.

(22:18):
You can't go wrong. Eight fourthree eight five five seven three seven
five. Give Chris Collins a goodcall down there. We can't wait.
We love broadcasting down here inside thestorage building and you need to come down
here and check it out. Tocome down Palm Road Storage right here in
Merle's Inland. All right, pishheads, Hey, we're back, we're

(22:38):
live. We are here at theSaltwater Series Seminar in North Myrtle at Barepuot
Resort Conference Center. And we're comingto you via the Toyota Tunder Studio presented
by Sparks Toyota where the dealers alwaysin, and by Qus Boats and Morrison
Marine of Lick City and Georgetown, where every day is a boat show everyday,
and by Freedom Boat Club where theboat is Hey, and I'll tell

(23:00):
you what we wanted to go aheadand pop on live. I know,
I know I've sent us to abreak, but we've got quite a few
captains here that are gonna be speakingthat are good friends of virs and person
and foremost we got Captain Jamie HupOn. Jamie, thank you so much.
It's been a while since we've hadyou on. Brother, it has
been a while. I've talked toyou a good bit, but I haven't
been on the show in a while. I appreciate you having me, man,
It's great to have you. What'sbeen going on in Jamie Hup's life.

(23:22):
Let's talk about that. Well,I'll try not to, we'll try
not to get into you can listen. You and I talked yesterday. Man.
I'm telling you you are the epitome. Uh And I think I've already
heard a couple of other people saysomething to you. You are an incredible
son and you're an inspiration to people. I don but like you did make
a plenty page funny comment earlier.Well, it's it's it's it's tough to

(23:42):
take care of the person that afterwhen they beat you as a child.
And my dad, my parents werethe same way. But it's why we're
who we are. That's why we'rewho we are. Exactly. I could
have done without the fistfights at tenand twelve years old, but you know,
other than that, Yeah, I'vebeen taking care of my parents for
a few months. It's kind ofput a halt a lot of things.
We haven't done a lot of travelingthis year. Usually we do some restaurant

(24:03):
consultations in January February, travel toBahamas or South America or something. But
put a halt to those, puta halt to my tournament schedule, just
because we just I have no ideawhat the future holes. You know,
my dad's got dementia, So everyday's a branded. It's like fifty first
dates, yep, you know, except he's not near as hot as Drew
Braymore was in the movie. Sothat's what it's like at home, you
know, you never know what you'regonna get, you know, three point

(24:25):
thirty every morning it seems like hegets something, gets dressed. The other
day he packed up the room andthought we were moving, you know,
So my morning consisted of unpacking theroom. Yeah, the maid used to
come once every two weeks. Nowit's twice a week. It's because I
don't I don't particularly care to cleanup feces in urine. You know,
I don't even do that for dogsmayn So it's just one of those things.
You know, what do they say, twice a boy, once a

(24:48):
man. They wiped my butt fora while when I was young. It's
time for me to do the same. So my goal in life right now
is to alleviate as a bunch ofstress from my wife as possible. Right,
she's an angel for dealing with this, putting up with you, but
I had no idea. Man,she's double angel now. But I told
her a few months ago, Isaid, if you were ever gonna get
out of this relationship, now isa real good time, right, And

(25:11):
she doubled down. She said, you know I'm gonna I'm in it to
win it, and you're gonna haveto help take care of my mom.
So uh, at least there's onlyone of them. Uh. But yeah,
that's that's where we're out in liferight now. It's still fishing,
lots of cooking, trying to getout of the house every chance to get
I went to my first therapy sessiona few days ago. Uh, never
been to that. How did thatguy? Well, I found out blue
Cross, Blue Shield covers it.That's always a bonus, you know.

(25:33):
Uh, it went great. Thehour went by so fast. I love
talking about myself anyway, and that'sall they wanted me to do, so
it worked out perfect. But no, it's just so away for me to
vent. I just the reason Ibring that up. I want people to
know that it doesn't have it's gota negative stigma. It always has going
to therapy. Oh, you're crazier. You got you know, something loose,
screw whatever. Uh. I wentbecause I need to vent to somebody

(25:55):
besides my wife so that our relationshipdoesn't become one hundred percent dealing with my
parents. Yep. Uh, it'salready not sexy because they're living in my
house, but that's better than ushaving to move in with them, you
know. Yep. My family's beenthrough it. God, that's uh,
that's a tough road. It is. It's not an easy one, but
uh, you know, it's justlike any other job or any other thing.
You just put your nose down, grind it out, and uh and

(26:18):
try to find the small moments ofjoy in between the uh you know,
the poop show. That is therest of it. Yep. Well,
I'll tell you what. You're stillputting up a lot of food porn.
Let's talk about the cooking side ofit. You're still Tragger, You're still
with Trager. I'm not with Trager. Oh my gosh, what your world?
Tragger booted me? Uh you know, I don't. I don't know.
That's a that's a thirty eight thousanddollars loss between Trager and uh,

(26:41):
actually forty eight thousand dollars loss.Well, I'm going to personally tell you
this. I know people that BaltTragger's because of you, so do I
I know so many of them thatBalt Trager's because of you. The email
that I got back from them,uh said that they were more concerned with
impressions uh than they were actual sales. Oh boy, you and I are
going to get together and talk aboutthat. I can tell where both gonna
have the same sentiments on that impressionthing. Yeah, well, I mean

(27:03):
I was, I'm getting tons ofimpressions the Eons. They have a board.
They got a board now, andas soon as the company goes public,
Uh, you can just go aheadand write off whatever agreement you had
last year. The minute of thatcompany goes public, it's gonna change,
yep, because those guys they're beingcounters. Man. They could not care
less about relationships. They couldn't careless about you know the fact that I
was the second pro they ever hadand now they've got over three hundred,

(27:26):
you know. But and also we'rein a time when people are giving these
companies everything that they need and wanton social media with regards to impressions,
and they're doing it for just adiscount on product. You know, there
is you know, it's like it'slike being a substitute teacher and getting paid
the same amount as a regular teacher, and now the regular teacher don't have
to go to work anymore because thesubs willing to do it for less.
That's right. So you know, that's the that's the point where we are

(27:48):
in our lives. But it's agood thing. I'm gonna tell you.
I've looked at it from all angles, and I feel like losing Trigger is
a great thing because now I cansay whatever the hell I want to say
on social media. I don't haveto worry anymore about losing sponsors. It's
it's very it's very it's a freeit's a free feeling, you know,
it's very enabling. Uh now thatI don't have to jump through those hoops

(28:10):
and stuff anymore. So i haven'tposted as much food picks and and meat
picks and stuff like that because I'mnot constantly worrying about keeping them as a
sponsor. They make a great product. We had a great eight year relationship.
Yep. You know I made almostone hundred thousand dollars because of Trigger.
Uh. But you know I've soldover four hundred grills also, And
that's that's the kind of the thingthat worries me, is if they're just

(28:34):
worried about impressions, how are theygoing to show the ROI Because that impression
stuff is algorithm and it's basically aconjecture because it's you don't know how much
of it equates to actual salee Uh. Speaking of George bow Baroo. He
and I did a podcast together twoweeks ago. This is exactly the point
we brought up, is those impressionsare they spending money? Are are they

(28:56):
spending money? I equate it tohow much an artist it's paid for a
stream of a song. Yep.You know, there's just no way for
that artist to know how many timesthat song was streamed and whether or not
they're getting shafted on the paychecks. That's right, but you know, everything
goes full circle. Uh to asa as a pro fisherman, to keep
a sponsor for eight years is doingsomething anyway, yep, regardless if it

(29:17):
was product or check. To geta to get product and a check for
eight years is a pretty big deal. So I'm thankful to them. It's
a great company. You know, the CEO is awesome. All the people
that were on the team of meare awesome. I learned a lot,
uh you know, but it's timeto move on. It's it's bigger and
better things to come. You know, one door opens and our one door
closes, another one opens, andyou just got to be there when it
happens. Well, you know you'rein Charleston. I mean you're well,
you live in Mount Pleasure, butyou're in Charleston. And I mean when

(29:41):
it comes to food, everybody's apooty down there. Yeah, man,
everybody's a pooty. Everybody knows aboutyou. I mean, I see,
dude, I mean, you cookfor incredible people. You know. I
introduce you to the ship. Wecall him Michef Jeff Richard and you you
do you know, similar things, but you kind of I mean, you,
dude, you for everybody that comesinto town. Yeah, we've had

(30:02):
the celebrities come into town. Theycalled Jamie. We've had a good run,
you know, because the Darius uhand my relationship with him. Uh,
we've been able to cook for youknow, Lee Brice, Landy Wilson,
turned Piet Troubadours, you know,a lot of great bands. Lee
Brice was a lot of fun.We cooked backstage for him at Credit One
Stadium and brought the big smoke ofthat we called the BBC for all you

(30:22):
people with dirty minds. That's thebig Black cooker. Yep, the big
Black cooker. It's forty feet longand the firebox is big enough you can
grow storisters on it. And uh, I've got pictures at one fifty in
the morning and you know, youknow that concert they all ended eleven yep,
one fifty in the morning. We'restill out there eating oysters and eating
barbecue and having a good time.So developed a lot of a lot of
really good relationships with a lot ofpeople, and honestly haven't run across anybody

(30:45):
in the music industry that's just beenan a hole yet. And I thought
it was gonna happen, but uh, one thing I found out is that,
you know, the people that Dariuscalls to do these events and the
people that I wind up being aroundare they're all really good people. You
know, they're all fun to hangout with. They don't mind hanging out
and shooting the breeze, and uh, it's great. We get all we
get the famous folks to sign theback door of the of the food trailer.

(31:07):
Uh My buddy Ed from bar NeckyLadies wrote up, I was gonna
say, I know you were withB and L. Yeah, Cornbread had
a dream last night and uh andit woke up this morning disappointed that it
wasn't as good as yours. That'sawesome. So well, you know,
we we kind of keep forgetting thatJamie Help's a damn good fisherman. How
about that? What what you know? I dude, I love watching your
morning report, leaving the doc andlisten to listen to well No Ran and

(31:33):
Rave. But just telling it likeit is, and which everybody that knows
Jamie Help knows You're gonna tell itlike it is whether you want to hear
it or not. Nice to say, Oh, you'll ever meet exactly a
lot of people, but it's becauseyou know, I tell you exactly what
I'm thinking. You don't have toworry about wondering when I'm you don't have
to wonder. You don't have towonder. But how's the fishing down there?
The fishing is good? You know. I've got a rejuvenated uh and
renewed enthusiasm about it here as oflate. You know, I won Charleston's

(31:56):
Best Fisherman the first year they everhad that category for a charter charter captain
right twenty thirteen, And the otherday I was notified that I was nominated
for this year. So out ofsix hundred and thirty licensed fishermen and commercial
fishermen and guides in Charleston, I'mgonna share that link on our page.
Are you really? Yeah, I'mgonna share that link on our page.
I got it yesterday from Jamie andI forgot but I'm gonna share that link

(32:16):
for everybody can go vote for himand well, and you know, I'm
about to say something that's kind ofon the same topic as me being the
nice to say hell you ever meet. You know, it's a long standing
joke that the people who win thatthing are people who buy the ad space,
right. I literally when I foundout I was nominated and I was
gonna be one of those five thatpeople were voting on, I bought the
ad space just to keep Redfinn Chartersfrom winning again. Yep. I don't

(32:40):
think I should be in a categorywith a company that has seven or eight
captains, because that's seven or eighttimes the business, seven or eight times
the amount of people they can vote. So I wanted to put on that
little ad. You know, Ipaid five hundred dollars to keep red Finn
from winning. Please vote for me, That's what I wanted to put,
but they would not let me dothat. Well, I'll tell you what,

(33:00):
You're right, and it is toughfor you to compete with those guys.
But it's not tough in the sensethat people that fish would you absolutely
love it. We've got a lotof promurals inlet that come down there.
We've got a lot of mutual friendsthat come to fish with you. They
have a great time this time ofthe year. Let's talk about it.
We're in March. What do youwhat are you doing? Are you are?
Are those trouts still in there?Pretty good? The trout aren't aren't

(33:21):
in there like they are November December, you know, first week of January,
they kind of thin out a littlebit. The bigger Winsi's slide offshore
some and they'll come back in andstart spawning here in April and May.
You know, for years I've beentrying to get a couple of politicians to
help me write a bill to keeppeople from to just put a moratorium on
keeping trout in the months of Apriland May. I think we could have
a real trophy trout fishery, similarto like you know, big Lake Lake

(33:45):
Charles. I really think that wecould have a trophy trout fishery if they
would, if they could keep especiallythe old timers from killing trout over twenty
two inches in April and May becausemost of those are spawning females, right.
But the other the other half ofthat too. If people all talk
about, oh, let the femalesgo, let females, you still have
to have the males. So ifwe could just not kill trout in one

(34:06):
month out of the year, Ithink it would greatly improve the size the
average size of our trout. UHand Georgetown's the same way. Well,
you're yeah, and you're a lotof water. You're sitting at a table
right now with three people that Ithink strongly agree with you on that.
We are. We are as conservativeminded fishermen as you can imagine. And
and I'm all about being proactive. And here's my you know, we we

(34:27):
were talking about UH salesfish or Paulguy Bolt and I We're talking about the
tilefish and the regulations, and thenwe talk about the red snapper. I
mean things that once you let themtouch it, you're not getting it back.
No, And why not be proactive. Let's let's let's self govern ourselves
and let's you know, take amonth put all the fish back. I
love David Platt. I love thatgroup, the Relea Sober twenty. I

(34:51):
love it and I finally joined it. I'm finally logging fish in on it.
But there is a I mean,we can make a big difference ourselves
as anglers, and we push thatevery week. But you know, getting
out there and releasing fish, Imean take it, well, take a
picture and you are I mean, you release a lot of fish. But
I mean, well, he's gotcustomers that won't fish. Well, I
kill the hell out of trout inno yep. But it's right before the

(35:15):
coldest part of the year. Ifwe have some freezes and it's below you
know, the water gets below fortyfive degrees for three days. They're kind
of like oranges when three days offrost, uh makes the best orange.
Four days of frost kills them.Same thing with the trout. But back
to your point about releasing fish, and only fishermen can change the way they

(35:36):
fish, right. But one thingthat every single person who eats in any
restaurant on the planet can do,go in there and say because it's it's
if there's no more consumerism for flounder, for instance, right, they'll stop
Gilnett and flounder in North Carolina, which is going to increase the drum population.
Black drum and red drum and trout. I don't see mullet on menus.

(35:58):
Let them keep gilnut in the mullet, but don't let them kill the
two hundred and fifty thousand pounds ofred drum that they kill in the first
six months of every year because theyonly checked the quota twice a year.
That's right. It's our responsibility togo into a restaurant and say, if
you don't serve local shrimp, I'mnot eating here. If you serve gill
nat flounder, I'm not eating here. You know, if you're selling redfish
that wasn't farmed, I'm not eatinghere. It's up to us as consumers

(36:21):
to demand better of the restaurants, better of the seafood purveyors, so that
there's no reason for them to goout there and pay a lobbyist so that
they can still kill more fish thananybody else on the planet. The red
snapper populations are booming, yep.I can't catch a bottom fish on the
near shore reefs at home right now. If I go out twenty miles,

(36:43):
you're just fighting through red snapper allday long. I can't get down to
the kobes. I can't get theamberjacks used to you're fighting through the amberjacks,
yep. Now we're fighting through thered snappers, you know. And
I mean there's days that I goout there and I drag baits for kingfish
and I'm catching twenty pound red snappers. Yep. You know. I don't.
I just don't understand why we can'tkeep red snappers. Just let's say

(37:05):
you you're you're able to keep onea trip, one per person, one
per person per trip, or justone per boat, one per boat.
That's the problem. We'll even puta dent in it. That's the problem.
When you get the government regulating thatthis was once the same place,
which is which was your point, yep, when it's in place, yeah,
you get it reversed is all butimpossible. So we got to self
regulate, which is what you're talkingabout with the trout. Yeah. And

(37:28):
that's the responsibility of every single consumer, not just fishermen. So we can
all have an You don't have tobe a fisherman to be able to do
your part and demand better of theserestaurants and purveyors, which will in turn
mean that they don't need to gopay lobbyists yep, you know, to
make sure that they can kill allthese flounder North Carolina. And the other
thing is people don't think flounder migrate. You know. Little River is a

(37:50):
perfect example the flounder population. LittleRiver is hurting because of the gillnetting in
North Carolinarth Carolina. The fish don'tknow there's a state line there. No,
you know, I hate going toa restaurant and they're like, oh,
this is North Carolina, reckfish.Do you think that fish knows it's
in North Carolina. I've called itflounder in Little River that was tagged in
Cape Fear River. There you go, so and then being on the line.

(38:13):
But the regulations of North Carolina shouldincrease our population here, should help
us a lot, absolutely from whatthey were doing before with sixty percent of
all southern and summer flounder called onEast Coast called out of North Carolina.
Back to James, do your pointif the restaurant's got demand on that resource
which was coming out of North Carolina. In other words, you go to
merles Inlet eat flounder, it wascoming out of North Carolina. Absolutely anywhere

(38:37):
in the country that's that out inNorth Carolina exactly. So the new rigs
in North Carolina should help the flounderpopulation, and hopefully dn r's do their
sampling and stuff up this way andfind out what's going on. Yeah,
let's get good numbers, good accuratenumbers, no doubt about it. I'd
also like to see South Carolina dand R put a put a cap on
the amount of commercial charter fishing licenses. It's getting it's getting thick everywhere your

(39:00):
little river. I mean there's youknow, there's tons of them up there.
There's tons of merles inland, there'snot Those are places that don't have
rivers. Yep. You know,uh, that's waterway to ocean and that's
it. They don't there's no influxand new fish for the You want to
yeah, and you want to talkabout crowded, you need to come come
hang out with us in merlos In. Oh, thank you. Crowded.
Yeah, six hundred I heard y'all. Yeah, I heard it was now

(39:22):
over five hundred. It's six hundreds, over six hundred. Yeah. Wow.
Now a lot of those are allshore guys. I would say there's
at least two hundred in shore guys. They're just like fishing guys are just
like real estate agents. So fivepercent of them do ninety five percent of
the business. Yeah, you know, you got to think, but that
does we need to break I know, okay, all right, yeap.
That doesn't mean that they're they're notout there on their days off. Still

(39:42):
putting pressure on the fish, allright. Hey listen, Jamie hop anybody
wants to get in touch with you, how can they book a charter with
you? They can go to theRedfishmafia dot com or red Fishmafia Charters dot
com. The apparel sites back up. Got a new dish chart center all
News. By the way, y'allhis his his apparel is unbelievable and uh

(40:05):

get set up. But thank you, Jamie Huff, Redfish Mafia, thank
you so much. Hey, listen, we're gonna take a break. We'll
come back on the other side ofthis great interview with Andrew Upshaw yesterday.

Lake City and Georgetown. Every dayit's a boat show. And by the

(41:39):
we're looking straight out. Yeah,y'all couldn't synchronize any worse, could you
wait out? My phone was goingcrazy last week with text messages of how
incredible y'all did. And then y'alljust go and screw up that harmony.
Right. Actually, they're not goingto make any core any church corps next

(42:00):
no, all right, So wegot Jason the Flounder Pounders sitting with us,
and we just found out you're notspeaking until ten ten o'clock. I'm
speaking at ten eleven, one andtwo. You got the schedule. Let's
talk about it, Tommy, yougot it. Go ahead, talk about
the schedule. So right now, they just started the intros of George and
Joht yep. Nine thirty to ten. We've got how to read an ocean
ten to ten thirty sea trout. That's our buddy. Jason is gonna be

(42:23):
up there. We got ten thirtyto eleven, we got tables and tides.
The Flounder Pounder's coming back at elevento eleven thirty and we got catching
fish with electronics. Okay, good, right, then I didn't know there
was lunch. Well you leave andgo to lunch. Yeah, lunch bread
not foenus. Hobby is all aboutsome food. Ain't mighty if you could

(42:45):
see that spread that y'all have backthere? Are you coming back at?
Are you coming back at one o'clocktoo? Oh? Yeah, yeah,
I'm all right? All right. So we got some red drum bottom jigging
one thirty two, two to twothirty the Kings, that's you two?
Yeah? Why don't they just callit the plounder pounder King Slinger Jason Burton,

(43:06):
I may ensure slam a king ofthon. I tell you you can
go ahead and take from two thirtyto three off. Oh, thank you,
thank you. I'm off sure, trolling tactics. From two thirty three.
I'm gonna be recouping my vocal cords. Getting ready, Hey, what
is the grand prize? The grandprize is an all exclusive paid trip to
the Florida Keys. Yep, that'sat three o'clock. At three o'clock,

(43:28):
and somebody who walked through the dooris gonna win it, all right.
So our other local captains are JoeJose Egler, Joe's Eegler. We've got
Chris Chris Osman, local wise, yes, local wise? Who else?
We got Jamie Huff from Charleston. You've got John Owens from Wrightsville, and
a bunch of national traveling guys.Who's that? That's that's Brandon Okay,

(43:53):
got branded here. You might notrecognize him because he cut his he cut
his hair. Holy crap, Ididn't recognize why he walked up by Mike.
I'm reading his name tag going where'sthe rest of you? Holy crap?
I didn't recognize him with no beard. Man. I'll tell you what
again, folks, there's still anopportunity. I'm sure they'll still let you

(44:15):
get tickets. Come on up here. It's a great, great deal.
And now we were talking to Georgeduring the break and I thought this was
a big crowd, because it isa big crowd over how about five hundred
and eighty at New Jersey last Ohwow? Yep. So we got to
pick our game up, y'all. We do. We gotta pick We got

(44:37):
to pick our game up. Thatroom is passed, it is starting to
fill up. There's probably two hundredfifty three hundred seats in there, and
you got some vendors out here. They got vendors, and I mean there
were people coming in it. Igot here at seven thirty other people.
So wait a minute, it's gonnabe you, Brandon, Chris, Mike,
Mike is now Jamie. Huh.Mike couldn't make it. He came

(44:57):
down with the flu. So Mikeis Mike. I don't know, Okay,
So Jamie's in with y'all. Soat ten o'clock, I'm coming in
for that Sea trout with John,Jamie, Brendan, Jason, and Chris
Osman all star lineup. If youcan't learn from that crowd, you can't
learn. Yeah, all right,So I'll just let you know. We
already talked to Chris Reagan a littlebit yesterday about the New and Improved,

(45:20):
and we've already played that part. But the new and Improved in MYFC,
I'll just tell you, I threwyou under the bus. I like it.
I threw you under the bus.I did say that Jason was probably
the one pointing the fingers and writingthe checks. Somebody's got to do it,
man. It looks great, itreally does. Tony was even impressed.

(45:43):
We've been busy. What are youtalking about? We have we're completely
full makeover of the shack. Weactually painted staying the big wooden deck.
We got all new tables and chairscoming, and we remodeled the entire inside.
It is gonna look better than ninetypercent of the retail stores you probably
shop in. So that's awesome andyou needed that. That's going time for

(46:06):
an update, you know sometimes youknow, you gotta get some new shoes
and a new dress on the oldgirl, you know, maker make her
look pretty. Oh yeah, wellthat's a that's a great deal and we're
looking forward to it. Now.You already mentioned the TVs. You're gonna
have some TVs up in there. We are gonna have TVs. Are you
gonna have any on the outside. We are gonna have some on the outside.
So we're gonna have TVs with differentfishing shows and uh, just clips

(46:28):
from some of our you know, favorite charters and who knows football season comes
around, might have a football gameon, might have some race on.
You know. Are we gonna havegolf on on April fourteenth when we're there
for the Marshall's Marine Appreciation date becausewe need to watch the last round of
the Master. Welcome to the mastasthere we go, we would definitely be
watching it. I can't wait.Dude, that's gonna be so much fun.
Have you been pishing or you justbeen busy? I fished, well,

(46:51):
we went to Mclellanville. We didfish. That's the last time I
fished. We did some scouting theother day. Found a group of fish.
Didn't really fish, was more justkind of looking around. Uh,
but we're we're really ramping up withthe charters this week alone, the weather
wasn't the best, but everybody seemedto be running, you know, four
or five charters, and the guyswere catching them. I know. So

(47:15):
there was a five eight trout caughtyesterday. We had an eleven pound black
drum weighed in last week, sopeople are starting to catch flounder and stuff.
What eleven pound black drum? Wasit legal? Yeah? Twenty five
inches he had he had Jason nightashe was so much for my black drum
on the leader board. Yep,we wait, we weighed, we measured

(47:37):
it because we thought the same thing, and uh it was one hundred percent
legal. Who called it? Ican't remember. The kid's name was Charter
no, it was charter the guyhe left. We talked to him that
morning, saw him at the baitshop. He left and he called us
and said, you know, canI weigh a fish in? And he

(47:58):
pulled up my boat, pulled itout, and awesome thing about it.
He let it go so it wasa live Oh wow. He did not
want to keep it. He justsimply wanted the credit for the board and
he released it. And which isyou know this the radio start back up?
All right? Rodeo is going tostart in April. Okay, all
right, Fishing Chaos and has goteverything pretty much created. We're waiting on

(48:22):
one couple other details to go in. It will be active and live to
register and everything else. Within thenext fourteen days. You'll be able to
register on Fishing Chaos. You'll alsobe able to register with Jason. Those
are all the things that I've gotto get worked out first, and then
I'll get with these guys. You'llalso be able to register on the boats

(48:43):
as you're out there, when youget on the boat and go. The
other thing is the charter boat divisionis huge. That is going to be
the huge thing. We've got athree night, four day vacation for the
charter captain that wins, and aguest uh, and some other prizes,
including an advertising package for the boat. It is by boat, not by

(49:07):
business, so Jason can win it, but he's got to win it on
Fishazilla. But if one of hisguys wins it, he still at least
got it to brag about that oneof his guys want it. I don't
want I'm gonna win it. Iwant exactly. Uh. Yeah, well
we'll remember. So we still havewe have a we have some prizes.
Now we're rolling onto The reason Ibrought that up was is I meant to

(49:29):
say, tell you, guess whatI'm doing tomorrow. What are you doing
tomorrow? Breaking it in? Breakingit in? Boy, buddy, the
Key West? Baby, you gotit? Yeah, congratulations, I bet
I've not heard. Yeah. Sowe were we were waiting. We had
some things to do first and thenhis schedule what in the line with mind?
So we're doing it tomorrow. Uh, we're gonna put it an enterprise

(49:51):
and check everything out and then bytuesday do congratulations. So that is a
great boat. Yeah, it isthe Key West. And I told himself
got a great boat. So wehad a lot of fun on the old
two ten with Avocado. The Avocado. Oh man, we had fun on
that boat. And so yeah,it jotted my memory because I know we've

(50:14):
got a tournament or two get thelaw Enforce got and coming up in May.
But we got a lot of tournamentscoming up. We do we I
mean he starts with the Grand StrandSaltwater English Flounder Tournament in April, the
end of April April, and thatis going to be the start of the
new Marshall's Marine Grand Strand in ShortCup series. Awesome that you're now going
to be eligible to win an extrafive hundred dollars at the end because you're

(50:38):
in a Key West. Yeah, well you're gonna give me this trilogy stickers
on the side. We're gonna getyou some stickers on there. Don't worry.
You want to tell it out?Hey, Hey, let me think
about it. Hang on, DoI want Tommy representing? Hang on?
Yeah? You do? Hey,Yes, we will get you those.
The Cup is going to be ablast, all right. So it's gonna

(50:59):
be fun. And when you signup for the Cup, you're automatically going
to be signed up for the Rodeotoo. That's cool. So you'll you'll
fish all the in short tournaments. And I think we've got one more in
short tournament. Have you? Didyou see we got thrown under the bus
again on Facebook? No, whathappened? The new Flounder Pounder Plounder tournament
this coming? You know something Ihave not had a chance to talk to

(51:21):
you yet about it. Hey,some things in life are relevant and some
or not. Well, we're gonna, we're gonna, we're so this,
this flounder tournament, this other onecoming. But we will have seven or
eight in short tournaments. That's good. So and you only have to fish
half of them, you'll end.The best part about it is ninety nine
percent of them are going to belive release, so nothing, nothing is

(51:44):
going to hurt our resources. Yes, you cannot do a live release with
the Spanish tournament. That is impossible. So that's the only clue. All
right. So also I'll just saythis, Uh, Captain Scotti's in short
slam tournament and Little River is gonnaalso be a kill tournament. And for
valid reasons, I agree Captain Scotty'stournament is going to be a kill tournament.

(52:07):
All others are Libraly I do knowthat every single other tournament is liberally
that I'll take eighty. I'll takeeighty zero. Let's take it. It's
great. Ten years ago they werekilling everything. Now we're putting the fish
back, and look at what youcan do. You can catch them in
another day. This goes right backto what we were talking about with Jamie
Hupp earlier exactly. I mean,be proactive. Let's let's let's do our

(52:28):
job and and uh let's let's keepthe regulations from having to happen. Well,
that's what we're doing. Even internally. We we have a meeting scheduled
for our company and we are actuallygoing to implement our own regulations that are
not legal by means. So I'mgoing to bring this up, and it
is I'm going to what I'm gonnado. Here we go. I'm gonna

(52:50):
bring this up because something ruffled myfeathers a week and a half ago on
Facebook. So I saw a Chartercaptain calling out a group of Chares captains
for killing fish, and I'm justgonna completely call bs on it because the
person that called them out puts morekill pictures up than anybody I know,

(53:10):
and for them to make the commentabout how terrible it is to kill these
fish when they're falling. I boutblew a gasket, and you no idea
because I texted you immediately. That'sridiculous and it is somebody who can't get
out there to do what they're doing, and why he posted it. I'm
sorry, hey, I mean, that's you know, the greatest thing about

(53:31):
this country and is freedom of speech. And you can have your own opinion,
and you know that's your prerogative evenif you're wrong, and you look
like an idiot when you show completejealousy into social media work. I mean,
I think if you if you're doingthat type of stuff, then you're
hurting your own image. So you'reyou're just, you know, nothing,
just dictated by your clients those Imean, serve them if they want to

(53:52):
keep no. No, it shouldn'tbe no. That's what we're going to
talk and tell you. I haveimplemented it myself last year. Our company
will be implementing it, you know, if there's a certain thing. You
know, but like for example,we are not going to keep trout over
twenty inches. I don't care whenour when our customers catch them. We're
gonna explain. We have stickers onthe boat. And what we're even gonna

(54:13):
do is we're actually discussing doing releaseover twenty on flounder, trout and redfish,
and for them releasing them, we'reactually gonna give them a sixty five
dollars shirt for releasing and doing theright thing for free. And that way,
we're gonna do everything we can topromote it. Promote Release over twenty
incredible, that's awesome. Take apicture, get a replica, do whatever

(54:35):
you want. But I mean, let that fish go. I want to
clarify something. But the person thatI'm talking about is a friend of mine
and a great fisherman. Yeah,a great fisherman. Some people just they
say too much, you know,so people don't say enough. They can
hte behind that social media too well. I mean that's the world we live
in. Keyboard bandits are everywhere.Keyboard bandits, baby, I mean,

(54:57):
they could type up anything they want, but most of the time, face
to face they're not gonna I'm lookingat Paul Godboat here, who is sells
fish from Charlestonfishing dot com back inthe day, and you want to talk
about keyboard Warriors Charlestonfishing dot Com.It was a room full of keyboard warriors
and you were not a warrior. You were you were the man. But

(55:20):
unbelievable. And that's another one.By the way, Paul, you want
to come listen to Paul high speedWahoo. He's gonna talk bottom fishing.
I'm sure you gonna talk to bottomfishing. We were just having come on,
come on, Paul, I actuallywant to talk to Paul because we
just had a discussion in the backroom. He is, uh, make
sure I am saying this correctly.Uh. He runs a boat school where

(55:42):
he teaches people, a school offishing to where he teaches people how to
properly operate boats, how to fishand all this stuff. Because you know,
there's a lot of people out therewith a lot of money, yes,
who want to buy a boat, but you know what doesn't come with
that boat, the skills to operateit or the no dog go fish.
So well, tell us what youdid, buddy. I started about fifteen
years ago, you know, andGeorge has been a big benefactor in this

(56:06):
too, because they get a lotof people that live say Lake Marie or
Kiwi or any of the other biginland lakes. Here they have big offshore
boats. They have no idea whatthey're doing when it comes to the big
pond. Yep. And basically Iteach people. I take people and I
got soup to nuts, basically teachingeverything about how to run out of the
harbor. But the main thing Ido is live baiting group or deep dropping

(56:28):
for sword, golden tile fishing andmy love high speed wahoo, yep,
I love my one. I doubtabout it. You love it. And
the other thing is this like whatyou you've started doing and you've been doing
it for a while. I started, well, okay, I got station
here in the Marine Corps in nineteeneighty four. All during the Marine Corps,
I was fishing. Working on mydays off, I'd work on commercial
boats or on Old Randy Scott downthere with the Carolina Clipper and all the

(56:52):
boys with the Thunderstar. And thenI started working on the Shark boat.
In fact, I've got you knowwhat, I've got a sixteen foot seven
inch great white quarter mount on thewall in my living room and yep,
my wife hates it. She wantsit to find a new home. But
I started then. And if youwant to go really far back. I
started in nineteen seventy nine on theback deck of a dragger out of Point

(57:14):
Judith, absolutely terrified, never beenon the ocean of my life. And
my father throws me to the wolvesand puts me on the back of a
dragger with his best friend. Andthat was it. I was hooked.
And when I got out of thecore, I went right back to work
on swordfish boats, snapper group ofboats and all that in Charleston. Yeah,
all that Charleston. I've stayed inCharleston since I got stationed. I
met my wife in eighty six theold Navy Hospital. Three sons and a

(57:37):
whole pile of grandchildren later, andlife's good. Life's real good. Let's
talk about your other business man.I think the oyster idea and what you
do down there with the ship fromOctober season, so the first half of
the year, from April through October, I'm teaching, and then once October
first gets here, I don't geta chance to slow down again until Saint

(57:57):
Patti's Day. Basically around April fifteenthweek cater we do oyster roast, we
do low huntry boil, and Ido all the boat manufacturers pretty much in
Charleston, I do their Christmas parties. I've been doing sportsmen since he had
a handful of employees. Now we'rethree hundred and fifty employees. We do
low huntry boiled oysters and chili forthem. But I also retail oysters.
I've got acreage that we leased fromthe state. We retail bushels of local

(58:21):
clusters, big salty, wonderful oysters. And pretty much every weekend I sell
out. And that'll continue all theway till it gets hot once about April.
Season goes through May, but I'mdone in April because I'm transitioning back
over to the fishing there. We'realso good stewards down there. We replant
shell all summer, we plant,we put bamboo steaks out. I mean,
I've been everything I can to helpDNR. And by the way,

(58:44):
our DNR and our d Heck Departmentof Health Environmental Control head and shoulders above
any guys have ever worked. Theywe never worry about the oyster beds.
I mean they're on top of itall the time checking if we get a
heavy rain, they're checking for vehiclecoliform or any other contaminants. But our
oyster beds. The health of ouroyster beds and our inshore fisheries is fabulous.

(59:06):
If our neighbors to the north tookjust ten percent of what we do
down here and started using it wouldhelp all of us. Of course,
it's possibly. Well, those estuaries, those are the breeding grounds. Yep,
those are the breeding grounds. Andwhen you work out there during the
winter time, you know, Idon't pick oysters as much anymore. I'm
an old man now. I meanthat's a young man's game and uh,

(59:28):
but I still love to get outthere with the crews and the things you
see riding out there. You seein the skimmers hitting the water, or
the oyster catchers and dolphins strand feeding, because in the winter there's nobody out
there and you're down there at Follyor Kio or a captain Sam's it's it's
it's you know, you feel luckyto be out there. I always tease,
I'll put a picture, say myday at the office, and show
us running down the river, andyou know, I'm a lucky man.

(59:50):
My wife lets me fish for aliving year round. Well we all have
to agree with that, Jason,We all agree. We have one wonderful
officers. Oh yeah, yeah, and trade my office for anything in the
world. Now, what are yougonna talk about today, Paul. The
main things he's got me doing sluarytables and tide tables. And you know,
I've got some insight on a fewthings at work. Like we got

(01:00:12):
skunked Monday because of the full moonon Wahoo and I was watching pods of
bait that were acres and acres ofbait dragging all around him. And then
uh, bike turned on about fiveo'clock in the afternoon. We were already
had her. Ye. A coupleof my buddies that stayed out late looking
because they were in the Wahoo series. Uh, they stayed out late and
got some fish. Nothing real bigcame in this week. But that full

(01:00:36):
moon, Boy, that makes allthe difference in the world. But I'm
gonna do offshore trolling of course, the bottom fishing, slut tables, and
he's got me doing one other thing. I gotta look into the We talk
about the We talk about the moona lot. The moon makes everything I
see on group of fishing. Itdoesn't bottom fishing. They don't think it
does. I like, I don'tlook I don't. If I'm going group

(01:00:58):
of fishing, I'm not even gettingup till five point thirty. I'm not
even getting to the boat till sixthirty because i gotta go catch live bait.
And you're not catching the live baitthat I want till that sun's up.
Those hard tales, those cigar menoswere Subiki rigging them. And the
people are like, why are weleaving so late. I'm like, trust
me, trust me, because they'reused to leaving at four o'clock in the
morning. Well, you're not catchingMan Hayden on the beach at four o'clock

(01:01:21):
in the morning. You're not gettingcigar minos. And I've taken two two
and a half three hours to makesure the live well has the right baits
in it, because nothing is moreimportant when I'm going group of fishing than
premium live bait. And I'll tellyou, I mean, there'd be days
where I'll check six different cans finallyget the big cigar menos that we I
mean, just the jumbos or theMan Hayden, I like what we call

(01:01:43):
turbos. Yep, the big ManHayden. But uh, there's to me,
the moon plays no factor and thetide plays no factor other than current
current. That was good. Iwas gonna say the big moons or plus
or negative tides, and you're goingpast the LEDs. You know, grant,
I can hold bottom, and youknow it's sixteen ounces twenty ounces.
But there's days we got to bumpup in two hundred and fifty foot of

(01:02:05):
water. We're looking into big gagsand we'll go to thirty two ounces of
lead to hold a one pound bliner down there. Yep. And when
I show people what we use forrigs in the gear, because I get
all these people going, well,I catch big grouper on eighty pound test,
I go, not like, you'renot getting a forty pound grouper that's
near rocks anywhere near the boat oneighty pound test, I mean a big
gag. When he hits. Wecall him freight trains for a reason,

(01:02:27):
yep. Because when they hit,it's bam, it's on and it's running.
You can talk about enticing the bikeand getting all the bites you want,
but if you're not getting the fish, you can't pull them out in
the rocky. No. Look,I've had two hundred pound leaders come up
shredded to just they look like theylook like a girl's ponytail, just where
they took it down in the rocksand it went two or three times gone,
and you know what it was.I mean, I'm running a one

(01:02:47):
pound b liner for bait because Itell people a GAG's got a mouth like
a five gallon bucket. He caneat a one pound b liner and big
fish big bait. That they do, big fish, big bait, no
doubt about it. And I definitelyadhere to that when it comes to group
of fishing. And so we're gonnaget a break. We gotta go to
break. Paul, thank you somuch for joining us. Man. We're
super excited. I can't wait tolisten to you. And like you said,

(01:03:10):
y'all you can still get in.Still come down. I think I
see George's wife still sitting in thereat the table if you want to come
in at the last minute. Yes, anybody looking for oysters if they're coming
down in the Charleston area, theycan hit me on face. How did
they? Yes, thank you?Oysters? Is my page on Facebook sc
oysters or they can just just huntfrom me. Paul, godbout for you

(01:03:32):
know, getting in touch with me. And here's the other way. Pick
up a trilogy outdoors magazine starting thismonth. And I'm not gonna let Paul
miss another month, but pick upa trilogy outdoors magazine will have all this
information in it too, all right, So we got it right here.
Yeah, make sure you reach outto him. If you're going down to
Charleston, you will not regret it. I mean, like he said,

(01:03:52):
he entertains all the fisheries, allthe boat manufacturers down there, but a
lot more I've seen some who's whoin Charleston that had you your smiling face
out there cooking for them. Allright, we're gonna go to break,
Jenny. You ready, all right, we're having a great time, y'all.
Come out here and hang out.Matt, don't go anywhere, I
promise you, I'm gonna let youtalk. All right, Listen, don't

(01:04:14):
go anywhere. Hey, we're gonnabe right back on the other side of
the break. This is the SouthernAnglers Radio Show on the Gator one or
seven point nine. We all knowthat the Inlet rocks when it comes to

(01:05:44):
up, I got fifteen minutes seatrouts first one. It's me Jamie Huff,
John Brandon and Chris Hosbins. That'llbe education, that'll be Edguco.
We'll be in there for that ifwe can get there. I'm get this
equipment broken down, but we areup here at Bearpoot Resort. You can
still get in, y'all. I'mtelling you if you want to come up
here, you just decided, Hey, this weather looks terrible. I'm not

(01:06:05):
gonna go out. I want toactually go to learn how to fish.
Come on up here, Barefoot ResortConference Center. Come right across the swing
bridge. Take your left into theparking lot. You cannot miss it.
Look for Redfish, Mafia Truck, the Trilogy Outdoors trucks and Maco boats and
uh, you can't miss it.Come on up, yeah, you speakers,
Yeah you can still get in.Yeah. Yeah. If you just

(01:06:25):
ride around can't figure out what todo, yeah, I mean, it's
one of those things. It's anasty saturday. I mean, yes,
perfect. All right, we're gonnaget an update real quick on our j
T. Tompkins, who, bythe way, folks, just so y'all
know, yesterday caught a nine tothirteen a seven eight, Is that right?
Nine thirteen and a seven eight hadthirty five pounds thirty missed a big
one. I'll see you, missmiss the big one. Yeah, you

(01:06:46):
got to go. Miss missed thebig one. And uh, this morning
he's a little bit slower, slowerstart. I think a little slow store
start. He's uh just got asix pounder in the boat. Uh,
and he has moved out of thetop ten. Is that what we're looking
at? I think he is droppedto twelfth. Now I'm trying to pull

(01:07:10):
it up. Now, just pressit again. I do that all the
time. Oh there we go.Now you got if you guys. JT's
the local guy that's doing the bestpro stuff and do it extremely well.
JT. Tompkins, young man, young man, and listen, speaking of
young the leader, Trey McKinney isnineteen, just turned on Monday. That's
amazing. Yeah, electronic dudes ofnew technology, guys. Hey, it's

(01:07:35):
a game changer it is. Wetalked about it yesterday with Andrew. It's
a game changer. These kids arejust unbelievable and well we they put time
on the water. Yep, we'vegot some listeners all over the place today.
Yeah, I want to hear aboutthis so you so obviously. I'll
just tell you that our og ishere in the house from Ohio. He

(01:07:59):
and his wife are in they're enjoyingthe seminar. And we've got and we've
got who where Miss Lisa down inOrmond Beach, Florida in Ormond Beach,
Florida, and my brother Danny downin Beaufort Danny, and then my buddy
Allan up in Boone, North Carolina. So we're like covering it some turf
today. I called Denny Sandbar, you know, because we spent a little

(01:08:19):
time on the sandbar. I couldn'tbelieve that happened. Now, it's unbelievable
that we ended up stuck with mybrother, the guy, Fremier guy in
Beford. He didn't hazle e thatday. It happens to everybody. We
a I think we still had fun. If I'm not mistaken, we did,
and Beaufort can be treacherous if youdon't know where you're going. And

(01:08:40):
he just turned a little bit shorton his turn coming out of land and
remember, yeah, that one turn, and we were coming out of Buffort
River trying to turn upstream, goup Broad River, yep, and then
he just turned a little bit early. Well, I tell you what,
man, it's already been fun justhanging out here for the last hour and
a half two hours and talking withevery body. I know you've enjoyed it.
I've caught you in a lot ofconversations and it's great to see sheep.

(01:09:04):
Richard came up to partake in it, and of course he's having more
fun sitting out here talking with us. He doesn't know what he's missing inside,
but but yeah, he thinks hethinks we know something. When the
experts are inside the building doing thesminar yep, and Sergeant Kevin Pardue is
here. We've got obviously, mistergreen jeans, Tommy mccannon's in the house,

(01:09:26):
Coach Captain Rayburn posting who's here. And Salt always is involved with this
when when George comes to town thatthey were out here today and and and
Rayburn was helping with registration and suchand just a great crowd. Uh again,
a great crowd and a great groupof people. Yeah. If you
guys, if you, if youhaven't attended one of these and you've got

(01:09:46):
any interest in fishing and all, this is something that it's a bucket list
item to do. George is agreat guy. Ye, very approachable.
All these guys are. They giveyou an opportunity just to walk up and
talk, you know, and talkwith these people. You know, you'all
hear us on the radio and comeand say hello and actually meet us.
And the same thing goes with allthese captains. They've got some excellent guys

(01:10:09):
here. Let me tell you thisis the place you can come today and
you can cut your learning curve alot, a lot. There is some
information coming out in this building righthere today. It is many many,
many, many many years and tripsof knowledge to get to where they're at

(01:10:30):
at you want to learn something, today is your opportunity. Well, and
you know you'll look at this asmight be a little bit expensive. But
the thing is when you walk inthe door, they hand you a bucket.
You've got all kinds of boat washand buckets and all kinds of gear
and then you've got an opportunity toon drawings, to walk out here with
an armload of stuff. So inthe end, it's no costs and you're

(01:10:55):
gonna get just a bountiful amount ofTomic knowledge. Yeah. Well, I'll
tell you I was looking and anduh, for those that don't know,
here's a list of all the personalitieswe've mentioned. John Owens, Captain Chris
Osman, Captain Paul Godbolt, CaptainJamie Huff, Matt Upton with Roffs,

(01:11:15):
Harry vernon the third of Harry's,Captain Harry's. We got Captain Mike good
Wines here, Captain Brandon Huskins. We talked about Brandon, who's missing all
of his beard and everything else.Captain Joe Ziegler, Captain Jason Burton,
Captain David Wicker, Captain Alan Winzel, and of course the one and only
George po Boromo and a sala there. That is a great line up.

(01:11:39):
And I'll just tell you that ifyou have not been catching George's shows this
season, they've been incredible. I'vereally been enjoyed them. Sunday mornings on
the Discovery Channel, if I'm notmistaken, on the Discovery Channel and again,
one of the best television show hostsout there in the outdoor television world.
And it's really been doing it fordecades, decades and incredibly edited television

(01:12:05):
informative and it's really cool to seethe places that he goes. Yeah,
and he fishes a lot down inthe Keys, and uh, George has
had some interesting trips. But Ijust spoke to him in a little while
ago and one of the and youcan look this up, one of the
most interesting shows he ever did.He was they were sword fishing down in

(01:12:27):
the Keys and George got pulled overexactly and it was it was dangerous.
He could have he could have died. He could have died right there.
But it gave him an opportunity todo some more education and rethink how he
was doing things. And uh,now it's pretty standard that us what you
do when you get on these bigfish to stay in the boat. So

(01:12:48):
George had the the you know, enough knowledge to not just pull the drag
back and end up getting drowned. But there's something, always something to learn.
And the safety is something that youknow, that's part of what we
talk about a lot. Yeah,I mean, if you notice in there,
I think one of the big tablesis set up in there is uh

(01:13:09):
ac R. Is that right, set up with all their stuff, all
their safety equipment and everything else. And I've got two items that well,
I have one item of theirs andthen I have an EPIRB from them,
and then of course I have mygarment in reach which is similar and uh,
I mean the main reason I gotthat so I can text while I'm
out there, but it works thesame way send out so s and everything

(01:13:32):
else. Safety. Safety is veryimportant. You can never be too safe.
There's no such thing as being toosafe. Yeah, we're we're coming
up to that time of the yearwhere normally, prior to him becoming a
partner and co host, Tommy wouldbe joining us to talk about all the
safety stuff. And we'll do thatin the next coming weeks. I think

(01:13:53):
we're going to do a couple ofrequords. I think we need to do
it on the boat. We didneed to do it, don't you.
I think that would be a goodidea, is that we go f and
then you can go through the boatand pick pick through all my safety equipment.
Well, no, I remember whilewe're pishing and you're breaking rods,
I mean catching too and catching lifejackets. Yeah, that's I was gonna
say. Was we were sitting thereand we took off at the shotgun start,

(01:14:15):
and uh, all the life jacksstarted blowing it o him out.
I got all of them. Hewas snagging him. He had him on
his neck, on his arms. You know. I just snuck in and
watched a few minutes of how toRead an Ocean, which is about over
with, But say, why don'twe I know, I take a second
and go over and tell people someof the topics that they are going to
be discussing today. Yeah, goahead, Tommy, you got well.

(01:14:39):
Come now. They're finishing up onhow to Read the Ocean, and and
I stepped in there. Let metell you something about George real quick.
That I wanted to say was thisis Georgia's event. His name is all
over it. But these captains thatare here, it's there, it's their
time, and so as far asthe locals are concerned, our local guys,
they're doing a phenomenal job. Joe'sup there now, and he was
I was listening to him, andI can relate to him. Ten you

(01:15:00):
know, ten to ten thirty again, we got sea trout going on.
We've got you Mike Brandon. Ofcourse, we've got Jason in there,
Chris, all local guys, localguys, you know, ten thirty to
eleven tied tables and guides. Yep. The salutar table and tides I think
are very important. We've talked, well, I'm not what's the salutar table?
That that is your moon, that'syour peak and low and low that's

(01:15:24):
your major your miners, that's wherethat moon is highest and moon's at the
lowest. There's usually jobs with thetide on tide changes and there. You
know, this is a perfect opportunityright here today to learn to learn right,
yep. And I have that isproven out in King Medicael tournaments to
definitely be an asset if you knowwhat the peak of amen and you may

(01:15:45):
better not be running. Make sureyou're fishing during those times and not running
around you in the water. Ithas age dividends and King Michael tournaments,
I promised, yep. And thenplounder and of course you know Jason Burton's
up there for that. We gotJohn who's a great blounder fisherman in North
Carolina. Captain Brandon Little River GreatCaptain, Captain Chris Ossman and Joe Ziegler

(01:16:08):
will be up there for that. And then at eleven thirty to twelve before
lunch, we got catching fish withelectronics. Here we go here, we
all need to come check out.Yeah, you know, I sure hope
that they have a one device thatI'm quite fond of. I don't know
if they will. I don't knowthey won't. What's up? They don't
wrong company, but they will haveMega Megal Live, I think is what

(01:16:30):
his company is. Well, eitherway, you're right, catch a fish
and they got lunch coming back atone o'clock with red drum again, we've
got our local captain's same thing again. For one thirty two, we got
our local guys bottom and jigging. Now, that's gonna be fun bottom fishing
and jigging. And again you've gotGeorge Harry, Paul Godbolt, Chris Osman

(01:16:50):
and Joe Ziegler up for that. That's gonna be another really good, really
good segment if you want to findsome really good till out about bottom fishing.
And then at two o'clock I reallylike that the King Backerel you got,
Jot, you got Dave got Chris, Jason, and Harry burning up
there, and you're talking about guysfrom Florida. You got guys from North

(01:17:13):
Carolina, you got guys from SouthCarolina. And it's just a lot of
different way and it's just the guysin Florida have different techniques. Will finish
this out? Okay, then wedo it. We'll put John over here
in the show with us. Yeah, I know you do. That's good.
Yeah, man, come on,give us your best three minutes,
give us your guest three minutes.Hey, the one and only jotted down

(01:17:35):
Captain John Owens is with us.John, thank you so much for joining
us. Good. Yeah, yougot you kind of got bumped into that
assistant role with George. I see, yeah, yeah, co hosting.
You're the co host. Yeah, excited, excited I've been. I've been
doing this almost nineteen nineteen years ofthe similar series. I didn't know if
i'd see co host or not.I mean, George likes me, but

(01:17:56):
you know, I can be prettyloudsome Oh he must really like you.
He must really like you to putyou in there. But listen, we
were talking about it. You aregonna be talking Sea Trout with Jason and
those guys. Man, that's gonnabe awesome. You're also doing the plounder,
which I was telling everybody. Youknow, when when you get your
two weeks of plounder, fision orwhatever, I'll be I'm gonna leave it
alone because I know you sit onthe Marine Advisory Board. But no,

(01:18:18):
no, no, it's it's it'stough. It's y'all. Got your hands
pull up there, you do wereally really you know it's getting better.
Fishing is getting better though, butlike I said up on stage with with
four years of seventy two percent reduction, better be getting better? Yeah,
I mean you know we're going we'regoing the wrong direction. The big question
is after this year, this isthe fifth year of that FMP. They
can add two years, they canadd a six or seventh year, or

(01:18:42):
what do what happens next? Likeyou know we're gonna get I need more
time. I mean two weeks. It's I ran twenty two trips in fourteen
days. I had twenty eight bookin fourteen days. But we had that
little tropical system cap the weather canweekend. It was the weekend, so
did hurt my feelings too much?Missed a Saturday Saturday's okay, But yeah,
it's where do we go next? You know, that's the big deal
of fishing is good, the fishare big, but we can't we can't
mess it up again. You know, you guys are regulated by you're there's

(01:19:09):
no there's no involvement of your legislaturein your game decisions, well, in
your game decisions, unfortunately, unfortunately, And that's the scenario. And and
and this is the very scary truthabout this. And I've been told this
many times. If it has anythingto do with thin or feather, they're
not going to touch it. Yep. And that's scary. And when it
does happen, there's usually money behindit, as in there there's a lobbying

(01:19:31):
group has gotten in there and workedhard to do something. But it's it
happens at Marine Fisher's levels, andthen everybody in the legislator gets made marine
Fisher is doing it. Well, let's let's fix that. You know,
if it takes legislative power, thenlet's let's fix that. You know,
I think it would help you alla lot. Oh, absolutely, Well,
we're criticized for the way we doit through the legislation and say it's

(01:19:53):
all it's all political. I mean, yeah, it's all And you just
mentioned something. I mean, inNorth Carolina, we we understand commercial fishing
is a huge, huge, ohyeah factor. And and and they're families
that have been doing it for generations, the generation legacy. But at some
point we understand, at some pointwe got to remember the fisheries. That's

(01:20:14):
it. At some point we've gotto think about the resources. Listen,
I know you're looking at your watchit. Thank you so much, thanks,
thanks for sewing up today, guys. Yeah, man, absolutely,
we're happy to be here. Man, all right, the one and only
John Owens. And listen, we'llput his information up there for jotted down
charges. You gotta go fishing withhim. Great time right up there,
just above the state line, notfar away. Man, he's right there
in more is he in Morehead? No, he's in rightful, rightful?

(01:20:38):
But man, it's a great time. What are we at? Nine to
fifty five? We got five minuteshere? Anybody want to close? About
four minutes? Anybody got the closingthings? I know? Uh, oh,
buddy, look at Sarge. Sargeis running from it. You've never
seen Serge run from a microphone. Now we got a star on it.

(01:21:00):
Now, we got it set R. Now we actually have somebody that actually
does work at dn R. Youmean he's a game warden. He's an
actual game warden. You know.Sorry, Tommy didn't they didn't they name
Tommy the p i O Public Information'sOfficer get because that would be a perfect

(01:21:21):
job. But Tommy's got his bilton this morning, so I don't talk
too much about it. But he'sgot he's shooting a water gun. They
gave him a water gun. Itdoesn't even fit in his holster. Yeah,
but he talks to the Colonel morenine. Oh oh yeah, yeah,
he's plugged in. He's plugged in. Now, Hey, how's everything
to be going? That's busy, busy, So let's talk about real quick.

(01:21:43):
We got five minutes new Marine. We got three minutes New Marine Division.
Is that? Uh? Are y'allinvolved in that too? Or is
that just Georgetown and it's every it'sall, it's coast wide. They're they're
kicking back up the salt water unitlike I had at one time. Right
now, it's it's a it's notits own unit. UH. Officers are
tasked with additional duties to help withthe salt water uh, enforcement, the

(01:22:09):
JAS, the joint enforcement stuff throughno right, no officieries doesn't. There's
an enforcement gap obviously because they're largearea off right off shore, Yeah,
beyond three months well, and wedo a lot of it in shore with
those boats coming back in of course, but that's where we do to three
to two hundred miles stuff and theywe get additional moneies with the state every

(01:22:31):
year to help cover that, andthat's how we make the federal charges and
do those things and carry a duel. But those officers are tasked with more
of the paperwork end of it andteaching and as they what about you guys
that are checking the boats, they'rehelping us do that. That's their main
priority also. But region wide,we're still doing our saltwater enforcement. We're

(01:22:56):
not just leaving it on them.So each unit still is doing the saltward
enforcement. We just have certain peoplethat are there taking additional duties on.
Hopefully it will offentually become I standon right like it used to be when
we had District nine, like NorthCarolina separate. Yep. But I think
that's a ways down the road, gotcha. But you think that's important,
don't You don't you think that's animportant group. Absolutely, I thought so,

(01:23:19):
Yeah, it is, and andand and I'll tell you why,
because these guys are covered. They'retasks with covering an incredible area. I've
always talked, you know, joke, would not joke with Kevin. But
the serious troup is he's got thelargest county east of the Mississippi to maintain
and manage and and and take careof. And you've got, at any

(01:23:42):
point in time, you've got fourto six seasons whether it's fishing, hunting,
or whatever going on. And it'stough. And he missus, Tommy,
you won't find anybody works harder, right, I know you. He
said that to me multiple times. Is only his job, it's also his
hobby. Yep. He loves work. And yeah, we miss him.

(01:24:05):
It's nice having somebody I can dependon the sin, you know. And
I've got other guys. But luckilynow we've got we went from the four
officers to eleven eleven. Yep,our unit led to State, right,
I know, we led to State. I think we beat every other unit
in the region. Added in deeringduck season. We've made some great cases,
made some good federal fisheries case.Yes, recently too. Oh yeah,

(01:24:27):
I've heard, well, I haveheard a little bit. Well,
I'll tell you what. It's beena great time. Serge. I don't
mean to cut you off, butGenna's getting ready to cut me off.
Y'all, it's been a great it'sbeen a great time, and I want
to thank everybody for coming out,Fred, Captain Matt Tony, Debassmaster Carter,
Mister Green Jeans, Tommy mucannan forcoming out, and Shep Richard.

(01:24:47):
