Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, everybody, Welcome into the Triple Threat Show. I'm your host,
Jeremy Lapitez. Today is a beautiful Friday. No excuse me,
it's not November yet. It is October, October tenth, ten ten,
and it has been a beautiful day. Thursday night football
took place, and what a beautiful game it was. The

(00:21):
New York Giants dominate the Philadelphia Eagles thirty four to seventeen.
They don't let him score a single point in the
second half. We'll break down that game, how Jackson Dard
is going to be a future franchise quarterback, and much more.
We'll also to do, of course, our game picks every
single Friday. We are red hot on this season. May

(00:43):
Rob with a blistering record of fifty wins on the year,
fifty to twenty seven and one. I'm a couple games
behind him forty eight twenty nine and one. I'm gonna
catch him this week. That's my promise to you guys
in the audience. We'll talk about the big trade that
took place the Browns and the Jaguar swapped cornerbacks, and
then of course a little update for the MLB playoffs.

(01:05):
It's been crazy. We have a couple game fives, which
is basically a game seven, the two most beautiful words
in sports. We'll talk about those at the end of
the show, but we're gonna start off with the game
from last night. Welcome in May, Rob Vitemi show, my
show host and friend. Here. He is here to help

(01:26):
us break down everything. Let's start off in Thursday night football.
The New York Giants dominate that game, a game that
I thought about texting you guys at the beginning. You
all have the Giants winning by fourteen, right as a joke.
But you know what, the second Jackson Dart touches that field,
there's a different energy and I'm gonna say, hand to
God my fault.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Right.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
I was not high on Jackson Dart entering this season
because he was raw out of college, and you can
still see a lot of the rookie mistakes. But we're
not here to harp on those. We are here to
talk about a Giants dominating victory where he looked amazing,
zero turnovers, hitting tight window throws. Going through his reads,
That's the thing that I was the most concerned with

(02:10):
with him coming out of college. Going through his reads.
He was always a one read quarterback, but his athleticism
helped him make up for it. I didn't think he'd
be able to do that at the NFL level. Clearly
he can't. His legs are something that no Giants quarterback
really has ever had, maybe going all the way back
to fran Tarkenton, which crazy that you have to go

(02:31):
that far back, right like like this this is this
is a this is a different energy around them. To
combine that with a hat trick hat trick from Cam
Scatabo over there, Oh my goodness, that team has a
different energy around it. And I have not seen a
Giants offense move up and down the field like that,

(02:53):
even in their loss against the Saints. The reason they
lost that game. They didn't dominate that game is because
they turned the ball over. They were consistent, instantly moving
the ball up and down the field. That defense is
good enough to shut down well, we haven't really seen
them play against an elite offense yet, but I do
believe they're good enough to shut down an elite offense.
They did it against the Chargers, they did it against
the Saints, they did it against the Eagles, right, they

(03:15):
did it against the Commanders as well. They've really shut
down every single offense that they've gone up against, other
than the Cowboys. But again, I just think that Cowboys
offense is really, really good. It's an elite offense. But
that was just a weird game. Overall, this Giants defense
is one of the top five units in football. Most Likely,

(03:36):
they intercept Jalen Hurts. That never happens. They intercept Justin Herbert,
that never happens. Right, They're forcing turnovers, which is huge.
One of the biggest things in the NFL is winning
that turnover battle. But Jackson dar looked really good. He
had a couple more sacks from Spider Man over there,
Brian Burns doing his thing on the defensive line, Cordero

(03:56):
Flott with an interception, and of course Cam Skataboo with
a hat trick in the end zone. That just like
I said, and I can keep saying this a million times,
it's not just the fact that they're winning they rob
it's the fact that the energy around that building is cheerful.
I don't think there's been a cheerful Giants building since,
like before I was born, even when they were winning football,

(04:17):
even when they were winning Super Bowls. That was a
Tom Coughlin locker room. You're not cheerful in a Tom
Coughlin locker room. That's just not something you're allowed to do.
It's a different it's a different vibe around them, and
they might not win everything this year, but if they
keep playing like this, as I said at the beginning
of the season, they're not going to be a good team,
but they're gonna be a frisky one with a defense

(04:39):
as good as theirs. If they can put up twenty
seven points a game, they can contend for a wildcard spot,
even with a tough schedule as they have right now.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
No, absolutely, Uh, really quick. I just think when we're
talking about this Giants offense, I always said it was
going to be Dart season. I knew it was not
Wilson year. I knew it wasn't the Jamis Winston experiment
for like the fourth or fifth time it was. It
was always gonna be Darts. It was always gonna be
about Jackson Dart, the kid from uh, the kid that

(05:12):
just showed up out of nowhere at an Ole miss
that has honestly put up an absolute show, has been
an absolute tank for this team. His ability to throw
the ball is something that's so underrated. He's making Wondale
Robinson look like a wide receiver. One can you imagine
Malik Neighbors was still in this offense for the Giants,
And I know it hurts to think about, but still

(05:34):
Cam Skataboo's playing like an absolute monster. That defense is
probably the most underrated unit in the league right now.
They put everybody unnoticed last night. They're just a really
fun team to watch. This is probably the most fun
Giants team I've seen in years, from even going back,
like you said, to the calm Tom Cloughlin Eli Manning days,

(05:56):
this is the most fun Giants team that we've seen
in a long long time. They could be legit, they
could be like a team that could ruin some team
seasons and we're just gonna have to wait and see.
You know, I mean that last night I think meant
more to the Giants that did the Eagles. At the
same time, are the Eagles kind of fraudulent? This is

(06:16):
the other side of the argument when when you can't
get Saquon Barkley going is putting the ball in Jalen
hurt Hans. Is that gonna be an issue down the line?
That is gonna be something that's a big time question
that we're gonna need answers to moving forward.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Yeah, let's talk about the Eagles a little bit here,
because that was the other thing that I wanted to
get to. It's not all sunshines and rainbows for one side.
They've got to lose the game. Saquon yet again, was
just not super involved in the offense. Twelve carries for
fifty eight yards. He was cooking at the beginning. He
had two runs for thirty one yards after that shut down, Right,

(06:53):
ten carries for twenty seven two for thirty one. That
is not acceptable. You need to get him going right.
The Eagles had a player's only meeting after the loss
on Sunday. That is concerning to immediately follow it up
with a loss to the New York Giants, a division rival,

(07:14):
and not just a division rival, but a division rival
that objectively they should have beaten. Right, this is a
much better Philadelphia Eagles team. And it's not even that
they lost. They got blown out in this game. May Rob.
They lost by seventeen points. They scored zero points in
the second half. Zero. The offense has been awful, and

(07:37):
this is what I was really concerned about. With the Eagles.
This is why, and they're probably still gonna make the playoffs, honestly,
but I had a missing the playoffs at the beginning
of the regular season because they lose Kellen Moore. But
it's not just the fact that they lose Kellen Moore.
They lose Milton Williams, they lose Josh Swett. They lose

(07:57):
a lot of really great defenders on the other side,
and you're seeing that effect how they play defense the secondary.
You lose CJGJ, who was like a vocal leader, like
you might not love the way that he provokes people
on the field, but he was Philadelphia like. He was
a guy that got that team going. And you can
see the difference with the Eagles defense when he is

(08:19):
and he isn't there. The Eagles have been to two
of the last three Super Bowls. Every single time they've
made the Super Bowl, CJGJ has been there. He was
there the first year, then he goes to Detroit, he
was there the second year they win a Super Bowl.
Then he goes down to Houston. Now he's on Baltimore.
But this defense is just regressing and you're seeing this
team not have that I guess vocal leader. Jalen Hurts

(08:43):
isn't that leader. AJ Brown is too unhappy to be
that leader. Saquon Barkley could be that leader, but he's
not getting the ball. He's not that leader right now.
It's just a mess over there. And I'm not here
to put anyone on the hot seat, Nick Sirian. He's
not getting fired. But there is a lot of concern
with this Eagles team. And there's even more concern because

(09:05):
after last night's game, when they ran the Tush push
four straight time, I saw legitimately not a single person
anywhere in sports be like, it's fine, the Toush push
is fine. That might have been the death now for
it prime time four times in a row. This is
the last season for the Toush push too, and that's

(09:27):
been the secret sauce for Philly being as dominant as they.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Are, no doubt about it. I mean, we were all
everybody was texting about it. I was texting you about it.
I was texting everybody that I knew was texting about
it and saying the Toush push should get banned right now.
When you have a play that is not only unguardable
or unstoppable, I should say, this isn't basketball and you

(09:52):
run it four straight times. It's not about a play
that's just unstoppable anymore. It's the fact that you can't
run any except that one. When a play gets that
egregious and abused to that degree, that's when you got
to step in if you're the NFL and say something
about it. In my opinion, I think they will. When

(10:12):
When will that come? I don't know. It could happen
at the end of the year. I doubt it happens
in the middle of the year. If it just happens
in the middle of the year and they come out
blatantly and say they cut the neck of the they
just cut the throat, and say nope, we're banning it
right here, I'd be a little bit shocked about that.
But just talking about the Eagles for a little bit,
I mean, you lose Blanketship. Blanketship and Cooper dejen were

(10:35):
hurt last night. They both got hurt midway late in
that game. But if we're talking about the offense specifically,
we saw against the Buccaneers they had thirty total yards
in the second half. We saw against the Rams they
got bailed out by blocking a field goal at the
end of the game. We saw against the Buccaneers they
gave up a thirty one to three lead in the
second half, or was it just the fourth quarter. They

(10:57):
gave up a seventeen to three lead in the fourth
quarter against the Broncos in their first loss last weekend.
This Eagles team has looked fraudulent for a little bit now.
A lot of people have just kind of turned a
blind eye just because they're four and zero. I've I
personally have said they're not. They're probably the second best
team in the NFC until last night. Now I think

(11:19):
they're probably the third best team in the NFC as
of right now. They they don't look good. The NFC
Conference is loaded right now. I don't know how good.
I don't know what to expect. The rest of the
NFC East is up right now. The Commanders get their
starting quarterback back. The Giants are on the up and ups.
The Cowboys look like their offense has finally found a spark. Here.

(11:42):
I don't know right now, Jeremy, This NFC East, specifically,
the Eagles do not look like a team that's gonna
be competing for a little while here.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
So here's what I'll say to that, I understand what
you're saying. I think you could legitimately make the argument
that they're the fifth or sixth best team in NFC
right now. And the reason I say that is because,
look at this. You brought up a really good point.
You'd take a look at their last couple games. This game,
they've played one half of football. It was the first half,
and even that half wasn't enough. In the game before that,

(12:15):
they played one half of football against the Broncos, the
first half, and that half wasn't enough because the Broncos
came back. The game before that, against the Bucks, they
played one half of football. That was the first half.
It wasn't enough. Against the Rams, they played, guess again,
one half of football. It was the second half this time,

(12:38):
and it was enough. Look, you can't play two games
over the stretch of four games. That's what they've done.
They've played two games over the stretch of four games.
It is unacceptable. They need to play better. This team
is imploding on itself right now and it's their fault.
They need to figure out how to get that offense going.

(13:00):
But the big question I have for you, and then
I want to move on from this topic is about
Jalen Hurts, and it's going to be very broad. Is
he a good quarterback?

Speaker 2 (13:14):
I think his ability to read the pocket, to escape
the pocket is very good. His ability. He is the
only quarterback in the league that can run the tush
push because he can squat five hundred pounds while he
can run like a four to eight forty like. He's
quick and very strong. He's probably the only quarterback that
can do that. Unfortunately, uh not, Unfortunately, he's the only
quarterback that can do that. However, over the next few weeks,

(13:40):
over the next three or four weeks, we're going to
learn a lot about Jalen Hurts because defenses are now
just going to say, we're going to start loading the
front lines to stop Saquon Barkley. Force you to throw
the ball downfield, beat us that way. He hasn't done
it all year. He hasn't. Aj Brown's fed up with it.
Devonte Smith is fed up with it. You see their

(14:01):
body language on the sideline. You see them walking out
of the tunnel after games. After the Buccaneers games, both
players looked visibly upset last night, a little bit less
because aj Brown had like eight catches for sixty yards
or something. But at the same time, I think it's
just gonna be about how Jalen Hurts can throw the
ball downfield. Right now, I say he can't. He cannot

(14:24):
throw the ball at a high level, and at one
of the top ten esque levels in the league. I
take Yeah. I would take Sam Donald's accurate throwing ability
over Jalen Hurts right now.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
I would say that, and that's fair. Here's the thing.
I'm not ready to go that far in your direction.
I see where you're coming from. But you look at
the stats. You look, you look at the stats. Right
it's it's not the prettiest when it comes to yardage total,
but everything else is normal. Right, He's not getting those

(14:58):
touchdowns through the air, but he's contributing the touchdowns on
the ground total touchdowns thirteen on the season. That averages
out to a little more than two per game. Right.
You have sixty eight percent completion percentage one hundred and
ninety five yards per game. That is not great, but
it's winning football games. The issue is Jalen Hurts does

(15:21):
this a lot, and we talked about this last season too,
But then he has his moments where he can just
you know what, I'm gonna win the game. He did
it against the Rams, that last drive he decided I'm
gonna win the game. He did it in the Super Bowl,
he said, you know what, I'm gonna win the game.
So there are moments where Jalen Hurts comes out and
he legitimately plays like a top five quarterback in the NFL.

(15:44):
And then there's games where he comes out and he says,
I don't need to do that. I'll just be the
fourteenth best quarterback in the NFL. And even that makes
you an above average quarterback at minim look at minimum,
with what he can do, he's still an above average quarterback.

(16:04):
But to talk about him as a top five guy,
it's hard to do because of how inconsistent he is.
He has all the weapons, there's no excuses. He has
maybe the best wide receiver corps in the league behind
the Bengals. Right, you have DeVonta Smith, who I think
is arguably a top fifteen receiver in the NFL. You

(16:25):
have aj Brown, who I think is arguably a top
three receiver in the NFL. He's definitely top five. You
have Saquon Barkley, who is arguably the best running back
in the NFL, and Jalen Hurts is behind arguably the
best offensive line in the NFL. You have all the weapons,
you have no excuses, and yet he's not quite producing.

(16:46):
I don't necessarily think that makes him a bad quarterback,
but does that make him a great, top five, elite
quarterback that is worth all of this money. I don't know.
He's a really unique talent and it's a really tough
guy to analyze. I'm gonna lay on the side of
he sits somewhere between nine and thirteen in the quarterback rankings,

(17:08):
which is still really good, right, but it's not to
the level that people were talking about him at the
end of the Super Bowl. Don't get fooled by one game.
Don't get fooled by one big game. But may Rob,
I do want to move on here. I do want
to talk a little bit about a big trade that
took place over the week. The Browns and the Jaguars
made what I think is one of the more interesting

(17:28):
trades I've seen in a while. They swap cornerbacks. It's
basically one for one. You're sending a sixth and a
seventh the other way. But Greg knew some down to
Jacksonville for Tyson Campbell. These are two really good corners.
It feels like a lateral move. I've seen people pointing
to the play against the Chiefs for the reason the
last couple plays against the Chiefs for the reason why

(17:50):
Tyson Campbell was moved away from Jacksonville over to Cleveland.
But I just don't understand that move if you're Jacksonville,
right these are both really good corners. Again, it's kind
of like you're trading one for one, and that's fine.
Greg Newsom has a longer injury history than Tyson Campbell.
Tyson Campbell's been paid for year seventy six million. The

(18:12):
corner market right now is over that. It's at about
four years, one hundred million dollars right now. That is
a difference of five million dollars per year that we're
talking about going to your corner and he's in a
contract year. Tyson Campbell's locked up. Greg Newsom is not.
This is a team that's already paid their quarterback. Questionably,

(18:34):
are you really going to want to take on another
big contract for a corner that you don't know is
gonna stay healthy. Now they're gonna have to that move
doesn't make sense to do if you're not gonna hold
on to Greg Newsom at all. But this trade kind
of perplexed me a little bit. I think the Browns
get the better end. They get a very similarly skilled
corner and they don't need and they basically get a discount.

(18:55):
They don't need to decide whether or not they're gonna
keep Greg Newsom in the offseason.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Yeah. I mean, Greg Newsom is one of the more
underrated cornerbacks i'd say in the league. He's a great
He was in Cleveland for what four years. I was
trying to look up his stats really quick. But he's
been He's been one of the more lockdown corners in
the league. And there's not very many these days that
you can say are consistently year in year out, one
of the more top ten cornerbacks in the league. And

(19:21):
that's what Newsom is. He has been like that for
the Browns for a long time. If it's from the
from the Jaguars perspective, i'd say they wont But from
the Browns perspective, I don't know why they traded him away.
He's easily outside of Miles Garrett and he's the leader
of that secondary unit if you're the Browns. So I

(19:41):
personally don't understand the move. I'm kind of perplexed by it.
But if you're just trying to do it just to
get a new younger cornerback cornerback in there, I know
Newston has a little bit of a mouth, can sometimes
just instigate players, can be a little bit vocal out
there on the field. But at the same time, it's
just Greg Newsom. He's just a gro He's a guy

(20:01):
that shows up, shows in, shows out every week, and
is the best player in the secondary for both sides
most likely every single game. So he's able to take
away at one side of the field, take away the
best receiver on the other side of the field, and
from the Brown side of things, I just don't understand
why you trade him away.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
Personally, So I'm on the other side of this. Like
I said, I think the Browns win this trade. I
understand Greg Newsom is kind of underrated. I think you're
underrating how underrated Tyson Campbell is right, this is this
is an elite corner over there. Like I said, I
think these two are pretty similar in skill level. The
reason I've been pointed seeing that I've been pointed to

(20:40):
is the lack of effort on the Hail Mary esque
plays that the Chiefs are running with twenty seconds left
in the game, the one that hit Hale Mary, the
one that hit Hollywood Brown in the head. Apparently that
was Tyson Campbell's man and he was just nowhere near right.
That is not good. You gotta play defense. But like
I was telling you on your live stream on Monday

(21:01):
when we were watching that game, that's just prevent defense.
That's what that is. If you're playing prevent defense, it's
not a man defense. You're just playing deep zone, deep zone,
and you're seeding the first ten, fifteen to twenty yards,
Which is why Bush to why prevent defense is my
mortal enemy and I immediately hate anyone that ever runs it.

(21:23):
I hate prevent defense. I'm not sure if you've heard
my rant before. I'm sure we'll do it at some point,
but I hate prevent defense with a burning passion. It
does nothing good. Prevent defense is bad. But if that's
the reason, that shouldn't be the reason. Again, it's just
a more expensive corner. That's the only thing that the
Jags are getting, and you don't even know if he's
going to resign with you. Hopefully he does. But could

(21:46):
you imagine if Greg Newsom and Tyson Campbell were in
the same room. Oh my god, Oh, Travis Hunter would
never have to play defense again. There is a lot
to like about this trade. There's a lot to dislike
about this trade. At the end of the day, It's
more of a lateral move than anything, especially if the
Jags are able to pay Newsome. But if they're not

(22:07):
able to pay them, this is gonna go down as
one of the more head scratching moves in the middle
of a season that we have seen in a long time.
You don't often see one for ones in the NFL, uh,
but you have more of that. No, I just say, yeah,
let's let's get into some game picks here. We've got
a little bit of a tight schedule year, and game

(22:27):
picks are going to be the big thing. We have
a whole bunch of games to run through and let's
start off in London. The Jets, the only defeated team,
completely defeated team zero to five left in the NFL,
taking on the Broncos in London. They are the London

(22:48):
Broncos for this week. They are hosting Broncos. Favored by
six and a half points in this one. The defense
for the Broncos really good. I'm concerned about the way
they're gonna travel. That's always the concern. I'm always concerned
about how the Jets are gonna travel. That's a double
concern for both of them. Justin Fields does not look
like the answer at quarterback. The one game that we

(23:09):
saw the Jets offense kind of work was against the Bucks,
and that was with Tyrod Taylor. Justin Fields doesn't seem
like the answer. I think the Broncos went big in
this one, despite it being in London, which adds a
little bit more fog to the air of a football game.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
I agreed. I'm taking the Broncos defense to dominate the
Jets offense and then Bownecks to take it from there.
He's an underrated quarterback. I think he just had a
rough start to the year, and I expect him to
finish strong and continue to play hard. So I'm rolling
with the Broncos by probably ten points.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
Indiana Jones and the Indianapolis Colts host Jacoby Bursett and
the Arizona Cardinals. Potentially, we don't know who's in at
quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals. But we do know that
their running back room completely is depleted. They lose James
Connor for the year, they lose Trey Benson until at
least week ten, is what I'm hearing. Imari de Mercado

(24:07):
broke a big run, got hit by his coach, and
probably is not gonna see the field. Most likely you
have behind them Michael Carter, who I just don't think
is really an NFL level running back. And you have
you know, Bam Knight, who shout out Bam Knight. We
like Bam Knight. He's not really an NFL level running
back either though. Right this is a Cardinals team that

(24:29):
really relied on the run game last year. That run
game hasn't been there. Kyler Murray, I don't know if
he's playing or not, But what they're gonna need is
a big game at a Marv in his dad's house, right,
That is what they're going to need. I don't know
if they're gonna get it. If Jacoby Brissett is starting,
he might just force feed Marv. That's something that they
kind of got to hope for. This is a Colts

(24:49):
team that picks up Jermaine Pratt after he gets cut
by the Vegas Raiders earlier this week. That's a big
pick up for them. I think the Colts dominate in
this one. I don't think it's going to be particularly close.
This is a Jonathan Taylor feast game. He's going to
have another three touchdowns. Probably Colts dominate, continue to show
why they're one of the best teams in the in

(25:10):
the AFC.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
Steal in my thoughts before I even say them. Absolutely,
I'm rolling with the Colts to get this done as well, Jeremy,
They're just gonna blow them out. The defense is loaded,
Daniel Indiana Jones has been showing up and showing out,
probably the MVP candidate right now, or at the very
least most improved candidate to win it this year, and
that Colts offense is flying high. I'm rolling with the

(25:33):
Colts to get it done by probably double digits as well.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
Who all right, tell me a little bit about this
Chargers Dolphins game may rob.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Right off the bat.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
I know you got this one.

Speaker 2 (25:48):
Two teams that I mean from the Chargers perspective, an
offensive line that's absolutely reeling, needs a spark justin Herbert's
running for his life. They got no running backs back there.
It's kind of it's pretty much Herbert Herbert throwing it
up with a prayer with like a two second pocket time. So, uh,

(26:08):
I think the Dolphins can get the jump on this one.
I say the Chargers are on a little bit of
an upset alert here, but I'm still picking the Chargers
to get it done. Their defense is really good. John
Harbaughs still a legit coach, and I expect him to
get it done.

Speaker 1 (26:22):
Yeah, the Chargers at odefa Oway from the Ravens this week.
That's a big ad at their pass rushing area. Especially
with Killiel Mack dealing with an injury, that's gonna be huge.
The big concern, like you pointed out, it's that offensive
line for the Chargers. Joe Aalt is not gonna play again.
They're down to their third string guys. That's not okay.

(26:43):
That's why that they had, That's why they've been in
such trouble these last couple of weeks. That being said,
this is a Dolphins defense that is not very good
at all. Justin Herbert, when he has even a second
to throw, is an MVP level quarterback. He has three
legitimate weapons, and wide receiver Quick Johnston has come out
of nowhere to be amazing at the wide receiver position

(27:04):
this year. Keenan Allen has returned and he's just all reliable.
And then you got Lad Lad McConkey. Nothing you can
do about that. That's a really good unit. The Dolphins
secondary is maybe the worst in the NFL, despite the injuries,
despite them not having running backs. May Rob, I'm rolling
with the Chargers in this one. I just don't think
the Dolphins are good enough as a team. I don't

(27:25):
think that offense is good enough to keep up with
the Chargers. We just saw them blow a seventeen point
lead to the Panthers, so I just don't believe in them.
Maybe they can get the jump, but I think the
Chargers find a way back. Patriots favored by three and
a half traveling to the Super Dome. Spencer Rattler gets
his first win of the week of his career last
week one in ten on his career against win against

(27:47):
the New York Giants. The Patriots coming off the biggest
win since Tom Brady retired, most likely they beat the
Bills in primetime. Against the Bills, Drake May coming out
party looked really, really good. The Patriots should dominate this one,
but there's always a concern. The concern being we saw
how good the Saints were at forcing fumbles, and if

(28:10):
there's one thing to be concerned about what the Patriots
may rob, it's fumbles.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
It's one guy.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
It's not just one guy. They've had a lot of
issues fumbling the ball. Ramandre Stevenson is going to play
a role in this game. Whether it's a good role
or a bad role is yet to be determined. That's
not usually the hinge point when we talk about the
Patriots Romandre Stevenson, but I think he truly is the
hinge point in this game. If he cannot fumble the ball,

(28:40):
if he just keeps the turnover sheet clean, I think
the Patriots win this one easy. I still think the
peach Patriots win, but I think it's gonna be a
little bit more of a sweatfest than we're hoping. If
you're a Patriots fan.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
I think that Saints defensive unit is really underrated. I
agree with you, Cam Jordan's playing out of his mind
on that D line. He's always been one of the
more vocal leaders of a defensive unit. He's a veteran,
so I expect him to continue to show out for
the rest of the year. But yeah, I mean, it's
just from Andre Stevens with the fumble problem. Man Drake

(29:16):
may doesn't have that problem. Travon Henderson doesn't have that problem,
Keshan Boodi doesn't have that problem. Hunter Henry doesn't have
that problem. It's literally just Romandre Stevenson and everybody in
Boston knows it. I'm happy other people across the league
have started picking up on it. The problem is there's
just nobody else behind a rookie running back, so you
don't want to just throw him into the fire and

(29:37):
ruin him. Ruin him. That's why Stevenson still has continue
getting the load that he gets. But I mean, I'm
still rolling with the Patriots to get it done to
pick apart that defensive secondary. But yeah, it's gonna be
an interesting game for sure in New Orleans. It's gonna
be interesting to see how that Patriots young team, young

(29:57):
offense is able to handle that environment.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
The other thing is it's it's it's a potential letdown game.
They're coming off with the highs of a revenge game.
For Stefan Diggs beating a division opponent, getting all this
positive attention. They need to get their heads in the game.
They can't fall into a trap here against the Saints.
Brown's taking on the Steelers. May Rob talk to me
a little bit about it.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Brown Steelers. I mean, the Steelers are at the top
of the AFC North most like could actually stay at
the top of the AFC North and end up winning
that division with how future it it's been. On the
other side for the Browns, It's gonna be about how
Dylan Gabriel can handle that defensive pressure. The defensive pressure
from the d line the Steelers is legit one of
the best ones in the league. TJ. Watt's going to

(30:39):
be out there, the rest of the rest of the
team is gonna be out there ready to go after them.
It's gonna be about how they can get that defense,
how they can get the run game going, how they
can get Cedric Tillman going as a wide out. I'm
still rolling with the Steelers to get it done. It's
in since it's in Cleveland, right, Jeremy, it is in Pittsburgh.
It's in Pittsburgh, then I'm definitely roll with the Steelers then,

(31:01):
no doubt about it.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Yeah, I think the big thing to take a look
at Dylan Gabriel rookie quarterback. But also the Browns are
coming back from London straight off of that flight. That's
a tough one. I think the Steelers role in this
one as well. Cowboys take on the Panthers in Charlotte,
North Carolina. The Cowboys three and a half point favorites.

(31:22):
We've talked a little bit on this show about how
good that Cowboys offense is. Ceedee Lamb is still a
question mark, but George Pickens has been dominating is in
his absence. I think this is a good Panthers team.
You get a potential Bryce Young breakout game against a
not great Cowboys defense. This game's gonna be kind of close,

(31:43):
but I'm leaning with the Boys in this one. I
think the Cowboys get it done. They continue to improve
despite their defense. Because Dak Prescott is playing at an
MVP level right now, I agree with.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
The Cowboys are playing unbelievable. The Panthers are kind of
reeling a little bit. If you told me before this season,
I thought the Panthers could be able to upset the Cowboys.
But with how the Cowboys have been playing offense recently,
with how they've been playing defense recently. You got to
give credit to the head coach, Brian Brian Schottenheimer with
how he's been able to coach up this team, use
the pieces that he has, use the coordinators that he

(32:17):
has to make the most of what he has. And
Dak Prescott looks legit. Let's see what this team looks
like when they get cdee lambacking. They could be a
decent team that could make a push for the playoff
wild card spot.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
I agree, it's very dangerous team as long as Dak
stays healthy. Game of the Week mayor rub game of
the Week sound the alarm. The Seahawks and the Jaguars
are Game of the Week. Who would have guessed that?
I know I wouldn't have at the beginning of the year.
Sam Darnold playing amazing football. Right now, he's completely transformed

(32:50):
his career. Egg on my face, I was wrong about
that one. The Jaguars with Trevor Lawrence continued to win games.
That defense is the driving unit for that one. These
two teams very similar, both led by very good defenses
with very competent offensive weapons and very good quarterbacks question

(33:10):
mark at the end of good there they're playing great,
but are they really great? We don't know great coaches
on either end as well. Jaguars favorite at home by
just one and a half points, so neutral site. This
is a pick'em game, basically, is what Vegas is saying.
I talk to you about this game before we went
live on this show. This is the toughest game in

(33:32):
the week for me to pick. This is the only
game that I had to really sit, consider, ponder and
be like, ah, I don't know which way this is going.
The Seattle Seahawks have my brain. I think they're going
to win this game. But the Jaguars, something about this
grit in this team says they're gonna find a way
to pull it out here. At the end of the day,

(33:52):
you go with the brain. I'm going with Sam Darnold.
I'm going with the Seahawks. Despite the injuries to that defense,
I think they find a way to get it done.
This is a very good matchup, and I think this
is one that we could see never mind not a
super Bowl matchup. I'm taking that back. The NFL has
been weird, man. You look at the AFC playoff picture

(34:13):
right now. There's only one team that you would expect
to be in there right now, and that's the Bills.
It's kind of disgusting, honestly, but I'm taking the Seahawks
to win this game on the road. The Jaguars just
make too many mistakes and I don't think the Seahawks
are gonna do that. I think they'll be able to
capitalize on it. I'm taking the Hawks on the road

(34:33):
over the Jaguars.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
See, I am looking at that defense and the way
that they performed against the Bucks last week. I mean,
Sam Donald put that team on his back with the
way he was throwing the football. He did throw a
pick late in that game that kind of iced it.
But the way that the Seahawks have been playing defense
last especially last week with how and going to this
week with the amount of injuries that they have, gives

(34:58):
me a little bit of cost to paust. On the
other side, for the Jags, the way that they showed
up against the Chiefs, going down fourteen to nothing, fighting
clawing back making it twenty one to fourteen, even though
the game leading touchdown was from a pick six off
of Patrick Mahomes. This Jaguars team has grit. They have

(35:19):
their team that's gonna be a dark horse in the AFC,
especially come playoff time. They're a fun team to watch.
I wouldn't. I'm not ready to say Trevor Lawrence is
legit yet or not. I don't know if I'm one
hundred percent sold on him. But in terms of the
run game with ETN and Twoton check mark, the wide
receiver room with BTJ and Travis Hunter check mark. I

(35:42):
think the defense check mark. They have. They have the
pieces to be to be a good team. I'm not
ready to say great yet, and I'd say the Jaguars
might actually win this one. I'm picking the Jags to
beat my Seahawks in this one if I'm being one
hundred percent honest.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
All right, split decision on this one. We need more
split decisions. I can catch up to here a little bit. Uh,
talk to me a little bit about this Rams Ravens game.
Rams favored by seven and a half, traveling to Baltimore.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
If anybody feels like gambling, take Pukahs over receptions, take
Puka's over yards, take Rams money line. The Rams are
gonna blow out the Ravens. The Ravens defense is atrocious.
The Rams are. The Ravens defense is atrocious. The Rams
have been dominating in every which way on all of

(36:31):
their opponents, even against the Eagles, They're only lost or
even against well, including the Niners. I guess they lost
to the Rams and are the Niners and the Eagles.
But the Rams are probably the second best team in
the NFC right now. They're legit team. Sean McVay has
been coaching his tailoff, and the Ravens on the other
side have been reeling. Lamar Jackson doesn't look like he's

(36:54):
gonna be playing. Zay Flowers looks like he's banged up.
I'm roll with the Rams to get this one done
by a pretty wide margin.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
Honestly, you know what, I'm on the same page as you.
No Lamar Jackson in this game. The defense is just
half of the unit as it was at the beginning
of the year. They bring in a couple reinforcements, but
I just don't know if it's gonna be enough. The
Rams dominate in this one. Matthew Stafford has another huge game.
He potentially throws his hat into the name into the

(37:23):
ring for the MVP conversation. He's having a very good year.
As well. Phukunakua throw his hat in there as well.
Shout out to the Rams. They go out dominate this one.
The Titans at the Raiders, ew, just straight up ew.
You have Gino Smith, who's leading the league in interceptions.
He's looked like Jets Gino all season long. It's been

(37:44):
kind of bad. Cam Ward has shown flashes, but he
hasn't really been enough with a really bad Titan surrounding team.
The Titans luck into a win the other day against
the Cardinals. I guess that's a little bit of a
silver lining there. This game means nothing. This game is
going to be the worst game of the week, I
do believe, and I am taking the Raiders to win

(38:06):
this one in an ugly slugfest.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Yeah, I'm actually gonna pick the Titans just because the
Raiders are that bad at football. Right now, Gino Smith
looks horrible. I never thought I would say that about
the Gino Smith that showed up in Seattle and showed out.
But he doesn't look like that guy. Like you said,
he looks like Jets Gino. He looks like he reverted
back to his twenty sixteen, twenty seventeen self. When this

(38:33):
guy was just throwing picks for a living, and worse
than he looks, worse than Jamis Winston in Tampa Bay.
If you guys remember that thirty touchdown, thirty interception Jameis
Winston over there. But Cam Word is just a guy
that's kind of just playing by himself. But I trust
him to throw the ball more than Geno Smith right now.
It's just flat out what.

Speaker 1 (38:54):
I think that's fair. Ashton Jent, I think is gonna
be the big difference maker in this one. I think
he all over the Tennessee Titans. Packers favored by fourteen
and a half against Joe Flacco and the Cincinnati Bengals.
May Rob talk to me.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
I love it. I love it. They finally got a
quarterback that's not Jake Browning. I just had to say
that off the bat. Joe Flacco is a guy that
could actually throw the football decently. Jamar Chase is jumping
up and down. T Higgins is jumping up and down.
This Bengals offense might actually have life, might have a
spark here. It's just gonna be about how they play together.

(39:35):
It's gonna be about how the defense is able to
stop the Packers offense. If they can get it done.
If they can, if they can get stops on the
defensive side of the ball, the Packers could be on
upset alert. I'm being so serious. That is how much
I like the addition of Joe Flacco, how much I
think this Bengals offense has the potential to be really good,

(39:56):
just to be it's just gonna be about how that
defense can get stops. I really think the Bengals could
win this game. I'm being so serious, and I'm I'll
say it. I'm gonna pick the Bengals to win this game.
That's my upset of the week.

Speaker 1 (40:06):
Upset of the week for May Rob the Bengals over
the Packers. I'm not that bold. I can't do it.
I can't do that. The Packers defense is too good.
I don't think Joe Flacco gets them twice. Just I
simply don't. The Bengals defense really, at the end of
the day, not good enough. And I'm taking taking the

(40:26):
Packers to win in this one. Pretty big. The forty
nine Ers take on the Buccaneers in Tampa, another contender
for Game of the week. Mac Jones once again quarterbacking
the San Francisco forty nine Ers questionable at receivers for
both Ricky Pearsall and Juwan Jennings, but we saw that
that didn't matter for the forty nine ers last week.

(40:48):
Christian McCaffrey is just one of the best running backs
in football. The Bucks have some magic up their sleeve though,
four and one, four game winning drives from Baker Mayfield.
This game is going to be close, because that's just
how the Bucks play football. Is it sustainable, definitely not.
Is it fun? Absolutely it is. I'm taking the Bucks

(41:08):
to win yet another close one and yet another game
winning drive from Baker Mayfield and the Boys.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
I agree depends on who's playing a quarterback for the
Niners or not, honestly, because if Mac Jones plays, it's
kind of tough for me to pick against Mac Jones
right now. But it's also really tough to pick against
Baker Mayfield with the way he's been playing. What five
game winning drives now for Baker Mayfield and that Bucks offense,
they've looked phenomenal. I'm picking the Bucks to win this

(41:36):
one in a pretty tight game and a fun game,
and probably in my opinion, this is my game of
the week over the Seahawks and the Jags.

Speaker 1 (41:44):
That's contender Game of the week for sure.

Speaker 2 (41:47):
Last thing, shout out that Niners defense. They've been showing
out the way that they played against the Rams and
we're able to turn the ball over on Kien Williams.
The amount of times that they got that done against
the Rams is the reason they won that game. So
shout out that Niners defense without Nick Bosa.

Speaker 1 (42:01):
Fumbles are a problem. Fumbles are a problem. The shadow
of that Niners defense causing turnovers is how you win games.
Sunday Night Football, the Detroit Lions travel to the Chief's Kingdom.
The Chiefs, believe it or not, favored by two and
a half points in this one. I think the Lions dominate.
I don't think it's that close. You want an upset
of the week, that's my upset of the week. Give

(42:22):
me the Lions over the Chiefs domination.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
Yeah, just hammer the Chiefs. The Chiefs are gonna be fun.
I mean, hammer the Lions. The Lions are gonna go
into Kansas City, beat the brakes off the Chiefs, and
then everybody's gonna understand that the Chiefs are mad. They're
not as good as they everybody says they normally are.
I know they have Patrick Mahomes, but one player does
not make a team. So yeah, give me the Lions
by domination.

Speaker 1 (42:46):
Domination for the Detroit Lions Monday night football double header
for you, may Rob, I'm gonna give you the Bills
at the Falcons. Talk to me a little bit about
that one.

Speaker 2 (42:58):
This is an interesting one. This is a game that
I've been watching for a little while. You got Michael
Pennix going, Josh Allen, I should say, going into Atlanta,
It's gonna be about how Michael Penis plays, how that
Atlanta Falcons offense is able to pick apart that Bill's defense.
If they can get it done, I could see the
Falcons winning this game. I'm not crazy, though, I'm not

(43:19):
crazy the Bills are gonna win this game. It could
be a tight game, it could be a fourth quarter
type of game. Whoever, it could be a game winning
drive from the Bills. But I'm picking. I trust Josh
Allen and that Bill's offense to get it done. As
especially after a tough loss against the Patriots. I could
see them coming out in either blowout fashion if the
Falcons offense doesn't show up, or just a close game.

(43:42):
In general, It's gonna be a fun game though for sure.

Speaker 1 (43:44):
Two big factors in this game for me. The Falcons,
first of all, one of the more bipolar teams in
the NFL. Right, they're either really good offensively or they
can score zero points against the Panthers. We don't know
what we're gonna get at a Michael Penix. We don't
know what we're gonna get out of that offense. The Bills,
on the other hand, have been playing with their food
all season long, and that food kind of finally went

(44:05):
out and bit them in last week's game against the
Patriots on Sunday Night Football. I think they say we
need to lock in, we need to get this done,
and I think the Bills just absolutely dismantled the Falcons.
Josh Allen with an MVP level performance. Last Game of
the Week, Hail Mary Part two. The Bears travel back

(44:25):
to Washington to take on Jayden Daniels and the Commanders.
Commanders favored in this one, another potential Game of the Week,
simply for the storyline the number one pick from last year,
Caleb Williams against the number two pick in Jaden Daniels,
the way that that game went and the way that
It changed the trajectory of both of those two game

(44:45):
seasons for these two teams. The Bears after the Hail
Mary loss fell off a cliff. The Commanders after the
Hail Mary win, rose to heights as high as the
NFC Championship game. That was a massive game for how
we looked at these two quarterbacks and who knows how
it would have gone if that Hail Mary wasn't completed.

(45:06):
But the Bears come into this with some rage. They
come into this with some anger. The Commanders looking to
build off of the success from last season. Doesn't sound
like Terry mcclaurin is a go. But Deebo Samuel has
been playing great. They have a running back and Bill
Krossky Merritt Bill continues to dominate. He had over one

(45:28):
hundred yards and two touchdowns last week. This is gonna
be a really, really good game. My underdog of the
week for real, though, is the Chicago Bears. They get
their revenge at home, excuse me, on the road against
the Commanders. The Commanders are yet to lose at home.
I think this is the time they get bit by
an angry team that's out for blood. Give me the

(45:48):
Chicago Bears.

Speaker 2 (45:51):
I could see it. I mean by storyline wise, I
could see it. But I just can't see the Bears
getting it done. I just don't think they have the talent.
I don't think Caleb william has the ability to get
it done against a red hot good Commander's team. Commanders
are my second best team in the NFC right now.
They get Jayden Daniels back. I think this team is

(46:13):
loaded on both sides of the ball, not just on offense,
on defense as well, underrated defensive unit, and I expect
them to go out and win this game against the Bears.
It's gonna be in Washington, Yes, Are the Bears gonna
be out for blood? Like you said? Yes? Is it
gonna be a storyline type of game, especially after that
Hail Mary? Yes? But I'm picking the I'm picking the
Commanders to get this one done by probably six points,

(46:36):
I'd say, honestly.

Speaker 1 (46:38):
All right, covering the spread there for the Commanders too.
My three games of the week I kind of talked
about him the Seahawks, the Jags, the Niners at the
Bucks and the Bears at the Commanders. You get another
game that you're looking at this week? Or are those
the consensus games of the week.

Speaker 2 (46:54):
The Bengals and the Packers. Bengals going into Green Bay
and getting that one done, we'll.

Speaker 1 (47:00):
Take a look. Those are games of the week for us.
Keep an eye on those games, but let's take a
look at some other games of the week. In a
different sport, the playoffs are here. They are in full force.
In baseball, we had a brutal elimination game yesterday in
the middle of the Philadelphia Eagles getting dominated by the

(47:22):
New York Giants. The Philadelphia Phillies lost in maybe the
most brutal way possible. The Dodgers advance. They are going
to take on the winner of a do or die
Game five between the Brewers and the Cubs today. Game
five is where it's at. But let's talk about that
Phillies game a little bit, because that one, Oh my god,

(47:44):
bottom of the eleventh inning, tied at one, bases loaded,
two outs, Young pitcher Kirkering is in the game, gets
a chopper hit right back to him, fumbles it a
little bit. Catcher points to first base, gotta get the
force out, Gotta get the force out, throws a wild
throat at home. Dodgers walk it off, advance to the

(48:04):
NLCS yet again. Talk to me about that one.

Speaker 2 (48:08):
A little bit crazy error on the part of the Phillies,
kind of throwing away their season. But I mean literally,
I mean this is a Dodgers team that had been
beating the breaks off of the Phillies the first two games. Yes,
when it transferred over to LA was a little bit
of a different story at least in game three. Yes,
but I mean Phillies up back against against what they're

(48:30):
back against the wall, showed up in Game three and
won it. Now in Game four, it was a close game,
trying to force it to a Game five, an elimination game.
But the Dodgers are the best team in the NL
probably in the MLB in general. I'm not shocked that
they won in the fashion did they win? Was I
a little bit shocked? Yes, But the Phillies are the Phillies.

(48:52):
I think they'll be back. They just got to make
some adjustments, get some young talent in there, continue to
build that rotation back up, and I think they can
be back into it. They're gonna stay in them on
the competitive side of things. But definitely an interesting loss,
for sure. Definitely a tough, tough loss.

Speaker 1 (49:07):
Yeah, On the other side of this. On the other
side of the isle, May Rob Da Yankees lose, They're out.
The Blue Jays take care of business three to one
in that series. They survive and advance to take on
the winner of the Detroit Tigers and the Seattle Mariners.
That game actually is today the Cubs and Brewers is tomorrow,

(49:32):
but tonight tonight may Rob Tarik Scooble on the mound
for the Tigers taking on George Kirby, a rematch from
Game one that was three to two in favor of
the Tigers. Maybe the best pitching matchup. We're gonna get
all playoffs long. Who you have in this one. It's

(49:55):
hard hard, It's a real hard matchup. That's the one
that we the game four. I think we needed to
see the Seattle Mariners win. They don't want to go
up against school ball again. Do they got a shot
against Scooball a second time?

Speaker 2 (50:08):
This is a really, really tough game. I think the
Tigers might actually win this game in Seattle. This is
a young Mariners team. It's gonna be up. It's gonna
be up to the rotation whoever can get it done.
And in Seattle, who's that pitcher playing tonight. George Kirby, Yeah, Kirby.
It's gonna be up to Kirby how he's gonna be
able to battle. It's gonna be about that that starting

(50:30):
pitching battle between school Ball and Kirby. I don't expect
school Ball. School Ball's gonna be on his a game.
He's gonna be ready to go. I think the Tigers
are gonna get it done, and I cannot believe I'm
saying that. I didn't think they were gonna beat the
Guardians in the wild Card. I didn't. I definitely didn't
think they were gonna beat Seattle. But now they've found
a way to climb back into this series and tie

(50:52):
it up two games apiece. The Mariners could be on
upset alert here tonight. Jeremy, I don't know. I might
have to roll with the Tigers on this one.

Speaker 1 (51:00):
I'm on the same page as Utuari Scoobale is gonna
go nine innings. He's gonna go at least eight innings,
because that's just what he does. In two games this postseason,
he's gone fourteen point two innings. That's insane what he's
done so far this postseason. He's gone eight and six
and two thirds. That's ridiculous. The Mariners desperately need to

(51:23):
get to the Tigers bullpen. If they can knock Schooball
off early, they've got a chance. But I don't see
a world where they knock Schooball off early. Schooble is there,
He's going to dominate, and the Tigers are going to
advance to the ALCS, which isn't crazy because, like you said,
I thought the Guards were gonna beat them the way
that they were playing at the end of the season.

(51:44):
I love this M's team. They're my World Series pick,
but the way that it's going right now, you don't
want to face Schooble on a Game five, an elimination game,
a do or dive baseball game, and I think they
move on to play the Blue Jays Tigers. Blue Jays
on the other side, Cubs versus Brewers, Cubs force a

(52:04):
game five, three home runs in that one, the Brewers
looking to hold on. The probable starters have not been
announced yet, but you would expect it to be the
ace from each team. Who do you have winning that one?

Speaker 2 (52:18):
I'd probably you said the Cubs and the Brewers. The
Brewers are most likely going to get this one done.
They're the best team in the MLB for a reason.
Are they a little bit young, Yes, but so is
so are the Cubs. Been PCA and Sean Tucker. I
expect I expect the Brewers to get this one done.
They're at home in a big time game. I'm wrong

(52:41):
with the Brewers to get it done.

Speaker 1 (52:42):
Yeah, the Cubs blanked the Brewers in Game four. That's
the big concern with me. Man. The Cubs are going
to show up at least a little bit offensively, but
the Brewers they don't show up offensively. That's gonna be brutal.
They need to show up offensively, and I'm not convinced

(53:03):
they're gonna do it. I think the Cubs find a
way to win this series. I think the Brewers will
get eliminated. Yet again, it looked like they were there.
They were up two oho in the series. Like I
said after they were up two oh. They win ninety
percent of the time that series. But it's also the Brewers.
I feel like the Brewers can't win anything in the
playoffs and they have to go to a do or
die Game five tomorrow. That's gonna be absolute cinema to watch.

Speaker 2 (53:32):
Absolutely. I would be shocked if if the Brewers lose again.
I don't think the Brewers are ever gonna survive the
allegations and how fraudulent they are in the playoffs. That
would be four straight times or probably more than four,
but at least four straight times that they've gone to
the playoffs either won the division or won the conference
and lost come playoff time. This would be a abysmal loss.

(53:55):
If you're the Brewers, they got to win this series.

Speaker 1 (53:57):
I hope they do. Honestly, I'd rather them than the Cubs.
But excuse me a lot to look forward to this weekend.
