Speaker 1 (00:00):
Wide world of the MLB and everything else going on
around the world of sports. Every single Tuesday. That's right,
every Tuesday, we do our triple threat Top twenty five.
That's right, it is Top twenty five Tuesday, as you
have come to expect. And the Warriors finally making some
move with the NBA one week away right around the corner.
(00:24):
They finally decided that, hey, you know what, we need
to have a full roster. We need to get going
a little bit here, but we're gonna start off in
the world of baseball. Baseball has already kicked off three
of its four MLB Worlds Wild Card games of the postseason.
The fourth one underway as Joeyotani rips a home run
(00:48):
just four pitches into the game off of Hunter Green
and the Reds, the Reds, who had a miraculous comeback
to get back into the playoffs. Let's start with before
we get into these matchups, how we even got here.
It was a wild day of baseball. In Game one
sixty two, all of the teams playing at the same time.
There were two teams in the NL that needed to win,
(01:09):
and they were in The Reds and the Mets. Both
lose the Reds find a way in in tie breaking fashion.
The Marlins celebrate like they did something. They eliminated the
Mets from the postseason. Kind of embarrassing for a New
York Mets squad that just came out and paid Jon
Soto seven hundred and sixty five million dollars over the
(01:29):
next ten ish seasons after they made a deep run
in the playoffs last year, they fell off a cliff.
The pitching just was not there like we expected in
the beginning of the season. The Reds find a way
into the playoff shout out Cincinnati. They get a tough
test against the Dodgers in the AL side of things.
There was also some drama heading into the playoffs as
(01:51):
we were trying to figure out who would get that
final seed. The Tigers find a way to get into
the playoffs. Barely, just barely do the Tigers find a
way in. They had to sneak their way in. The
Astros were the odd man out in that one. But
now the Blue Jays. As we take a look at
the overall standings the overall postseason bracket, the Blue Jays
(02:14):
the one seed in the AL, the Brewers the one
seed in the NL, the Phillies and the Mariners, also
with Buys joining the one seed, the Blue Jays and
the Brewers not teams that I expected to have the
one seed at all in any of these any of
these conferences. Heading into this season, Red Sox Yankees in
the playoffs exactly what we wanted to see. That is
(02:35):
a quintessential rivalry, one of the best in all of sports.
You also have a nice division matchup with the Tigers
and the Guardians, the Guardians who of course made a crazy,
crazy comeback to take the division the Al Central away
from the Tigers. Now they play each other in a
three game do or die playoff situation in which we
saw the Tigers take game one the NL. The Reds
(02:57):
versus the Dodgers. We talked about that a little bit.
It's really it's really, you know, David versus Goliath over
there in that matchup. I think there's a chance that
the Reds might be able to pull this one out.
Although we'll go into a deeper dive here and the
Padres and the Cubs. That one should be a lot
of fun. Let's start off in the order of the
games though, as they took place today. Guys start off
(03:17):
with the Tigers and the Guardians, and Nolan, I know,
big Tigers guy, big Tigers fan. They sneak into the playoffs,
they get a game, they get a series against the Guardians,
the team that's made them sweat so much down the
stretch here this season, and Tarik Scooble throws an absolute gem,
both him and Kyle Williams through absolute gems of game.
(03:38):
Excuse me, Gavin Williams, through absolute gems of games. They
went deep into it. They held their opponents to just
one run or two runs. In fact, the Tigers scored
no earned runs in that game. The only earned run
was off of a chopped infield single that Scoopble just
couldn't get to home in time. A crazy way for
(03:58):
that game to go, but it came down to the wire.
The Guardians had a man on third with nobody out
in the ninth, unable to get it through. The Tigers
take that series. They excuse me, the one to er
lead in that series. It's first to two, best of three.
That's a huge win in this one, Nolan. Is that
the way you see the rest of these games playing out?
Or is that just because you got scoo ball on
the Mount.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
And I really hope so. But I think that was
honestly just some much. I think that was from Schoobol
school had an absolute massacot today, fourteen strikeouts, I mean,
just an absolute phenomenal outing for him today. The problem
is that we're hitting is the Tigers hitting just isn't
postseason ready. Yeah, they have good hitters, but overall the team,
they're not consistent enough to be getting those type of hits,
(04:40):
especially against a great pitch like he's all against today. Well,
letting up two letting up two runs. One of them
wasn't even an earned run in one earned run, And
I mean pitching is only going to get better deeper
in the postseason. The matter, the matter of fact is
that if the Tigers can keep up with it, I
think they can. But right now I just got a
little nervous. But overall it was a great game. I
think the Schooble had a great Obviously, fourteen strikeouts. A
(05:03):
lot of those balls that got runners on base for
the Guardians were when I was seeing with a lot
of just dribblers that they just couldn't make the play on.
A lot of not a lot of good hits from
the Guardians at all to get players on base. Just
a lot of dribblers, a lot of drop shots in
the infield, like high like just short bloops in the
infield tires didn't get to. And Josier Ramirez and that
third base and the ninth enning, I mean start get
(05:24):
there with no outs and he's there with one out left.
I believe I forgot who hit the ball or who bunted,
but it was just went right to Schooble. Yeah, made
the play at home. It was great. I mean, it
was a great win for the day today for the Tigers,
must win game. It was in it was not a
co America Park, it was in Cleveland, So I mean,
he love getting away win against, you know, a rival
(05:47):
who'd been playing against for as our seventh game against
them in the past week and a half, two weeks.
There was a great win. I think that that's a
huge amenta moves for the Tigers trying to just get out,
trying to get out of that they do. They don't
play the Guards anymore. The Guardians do want to playoffs.
Been playing there for too long now, we want to
stop playing them. And I think that the Tigers, if that,
you know, Scooble obviously had a great day, but the
(06:07):
matter of fact, we won't get out of the series
unss o'ur pitching steps up. So I mean, if we're pitching,
does like just if every pitcher pitcher like Scoble today, Yeah,
it'll be fine. Is that gonna happen? No, but hey,
never never hurts the wits. But overall, great first game.
It was great, you know, seeing getting a win there
and hopefully come back next to the next game and
just get get the win and move on to the
next round.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
Yeah, ma'reb Game two, Casey May is on the mound
for the Detroit Tigers taking on Tanner Peebe of the
Cleveland Guardians. Do or Die for the Guards. It's all
in Cleveland for these series. The home team plays all
three games there, so that is going to be a
huge one to watch if needed. Game three is going
to be looks like Jack Flaherty on the mound for
(06:49):
the Tigers and Slade Sione on the mound for the Guardians.
These two teams match up pretty well against each other,
and we saw that Actually, all of the matchups so
far have been really low scoring. We got the aces
out for every single team so you might expect that,
but the offenses are going to start to show. I know,
(07:10):
the Tigers offense not really there. I'm not gonna lie
to you. I'm concerned about the Tigers offense the rest
of the way. I think the Guardians will wake up
when they're not facing off against Scooble is a huge
win for the Tigers to get in Game one. Do
you think they'll be able to finish off this series?
Who do you have winning this one?
Speaker 3 (07:28):
So it was nice to see that the Tigers got
that Game one win. Unfortunately for Nolan, it just seems
like it's just gonna be the only one for exactly
the reasons that you said, Jeremy. They faced off against
one of the best pitchers in the league, arguably the
Cy Young winner either him or Garrett Crochet in the
AL this year would be his second Sy Young. Scooba
(07:52):
is one of the best pitchers in the league. He's
gonna get you wins. Even if he didn't get you
a couple against the Guardians before in past series, He's
gonna get you a win eventually. He's just that good
of a picture. It's just it's bound to happen. But
it just doesn't. I just don't have hope in this
Tiger's offense to be able to be sustainable. Yes, if
it wasn't if if the Guardian that basically, if the
(08:16):
Tigers want to have any chance of winning this series,
they have to win Game two. If it goes to
Game three and Jack Flarity's out there for the Tigers,
I just don't see a world where Jack Flarity can
hold off that Cleveland Guardian's offense from putting up runs
and then on the other side for the for the
Tigers offense is going to be able to match up
with that. I just don't see a world with that
where that happens. So, if there's a world, if there
(08:37):
was any chance for the Tigers to win this series,
they have to win tomorrow night. Other than that, I
say the Guardians are gonna win, and I say it's
probably gonna be about I have them about an eighty
five percent chance of winning this series right now, even
though they're down one zero.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
Nolan, what you got here?
Speaker 2 (08:53):
I can't really hate that. I mean, Casey myes. I'm
not worried about Casey Mice. He's been a great picture.
But for the entire year, it's only had a few
bad out but Jack Flaherty since coming back from the
Dodgers this year, has been super inconsistent. He's had great games,
he's had bad games, and his bad games are really bad,
letting up multiple runs in the same n I'm talking
about four or five runs. But when he's playing good,
(09:13):
he's playing like a top pitcher in the AL. I mean,
he's a phenomenal pitcher when he's on. But I feel
like we're seeing more on off games than on as
of recently. But I mean, I'm not too worried. He
was good. He was great for the Dodgers lasty in
the postseason, and he was great for us last year
in the regular season. And he's done. Like I said,
he hasn't had the best season for the Tigers so
far this year. But he's not pitching bad. I wouldn't
say he's up pitching bad. He's pitching a little bit
(09:35):
down to his standard. So I think that regardless of
if we win or lose tomorrow, I think Game three,
if it comes to it, I think Jack Flerity can
pull his own and take us to you know, get
a town of the series.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. The one
thing that we didn't really see and the one thing
that I think we need to remember. His bullpens play
a huge role in in playoffs, especially the player when
it comes to baseball, right. You didn't really see it
in Game one because you have Tariq Schooble, who can
go nine innings eight innings. You're not gonna get that
(10:09):
every single game. You're not gonna get that out of
your starters every game. And at some point you have
to trust your bullpen. You have to trust your guys
to get it done. And I don't know if the
Tigers really have the luxury of having a bullpen that
they can turn to and trust. It's better than last year,
but it's really not that good, and I think that's
kind of a really low bar better than last year.
(10:31):
If you are the Tigers, you just hope that your
starters are effective and can go deep. That's your only
shot because of that. I think Eileen Cleveland in three
in this one. But it's gonna be a really interesting series.
The next game on the docket here we stick over
with the al side of the ticket. The Yankees and
the Red Sox May rob ooh, the classic rivalry reignited.
(10:55):
In October. We saw the Red Sox take Game one
because behind great Garrett Crochet, who went eight innings, one
hundred and fourteen pitches overall, eleven strikeouts on his day,
he absolutely dominated. Had a stretch where he retired seventeen
straight batters. His only mistake a home run giving up
to Anthony Volpy in that second inning, didn't matter. The
(11:19):
Red Sox were able to win that game three to one.
They now lead one to zero. I don't know if
the Yankees are gonna come back from this one. Talk
to me, may Rob. This is a big series for
you guys.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
It's not only a big series for us. But that
was a big crucial loss. You alluded to it. That
was a big crucial loss for the Yankees. They had
that one in the palm of their hand. It felt
like that Red Sox team was struggling on all fronts.
Max Freed was giving them so much trouble. And then
somehow someway in that sixth inning matc that Aaron Boone
(11:51):
decides to pull Max Freed after having four hits through
six innings, six strikeouts, and what happens in that inning
The Red Sox put up two run or the following inning,
I should say, the Red Sox put up two runs
and the game pretty much went wide open. Right after that,
the game went absolutely catastrophic. The Red Sox pitching has
(12:12):
been unbelievable as well. On the other side of Garrett Crochet,
it was Crochet versus Freed in this one, and I
mean it just came down to the managers trusting their pitchers.
Cora is notorious for not trusting his pitches. He is
horrible at doing it. Everybody, every Red Sox fan knows
how bad it is. But he trusted Crochet in this one,
(12:32):
going seven innings, seven and a half innings, I should say,
eleven strikeouts, only four hits in one earned run being
that one home run by Anthony Volpi. But nonetheless, it
was a great game on all sides and major major
props at the end of the game to our oldest
Chapman going down giving up three hits to start off
(12:54):
that inning in the ninth having bases loaded, and then
clawing back getting three straight two straight strike or was
it three straight strikeouts? It might have been three straight strikeouts.
I was working as I was working and watching the
same two strikeouts getting two straight strikeouts to close the game.
It was just a phenomenal game on all fronts. The
Red Sox absolutely dominated, or didn't dominate, but kept it
(13:18):
close and then dominated the end of the game as
they always do. That one of the more clutch teams
in the MLB this year and just one of the
most fun teams to watch. A great win on all fronts.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Great game overall. Obviously I wasn't too tuned in. I
was actually in class for the game. But from what
I saw, I mean, it was just a great outing
from the Red Sox, you know, coming going into New York,
you know, going it was at New York.
Speaker 3 (13:42):
It was in New York, every in New York, so
I had to make sure it wasn't it was.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
You know, it was getting right. But you know, going
into New York obviously against your most heated rival historically
in their hometown, in their home grounds, and being able
to set a statement like that winning through one against
a very good, you know Yankees team, great pitching, just
Max Freed, one of the best pitchers in the MLB,
against great hitters like Aaron Judge, I mean, able to
make that statement. Obviously, the Red Sax were out of
(14:08):
the playoff for race. For a while, they were a
lot of games back in their own division, and they
were able to crawl their way back out through Midway
Low Pass the way to the season and they were
just able to dominate. They went on huge win streaks,
winning games that winning division games that meant a lot.
They're losing to not a lot of teams and beating
a lot of good teams regardless of division or not division.
They're playing great and the Red Sacks recently have been
(14:28):
on fire. I honestly wouldn't be surprised after the Red
Sacks are managed to close us out in two games
in New York, I wouldn't be surprised. I don't want
to jink some but I wouldn't be surprised if that happens,
because without Max Freight, with that Max Friday, the Yankees bullpen,
like the Tigers, isn't just that good. They rely on
one guy a lot, and without him, I mean, they're
kind of just scrubbing the barely scraping the face of
(14:49):
the water.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
Yeah, I tend to agree with you. I think this
was the Red Sox series. I think they win this
one in two. I like Brian beao. I love Garrett Crochet.
We saw what he was able to do against Max Freed,
and as good as Aaron Judge is, he's not enough
this year for the Yankees to get past a red
hot Red Sox team. As the Reds are falling apart.
We'll get to the Reds in here a second. They've
(15:11):
just given up two home runs back to back. They're
now downe five to nothing in the bottom of the third.
But let's talk about that team a little bit. The
Reds find a way into the playoffs a little bit here. Wow,
I was gonna talk about how the Reds had a
little bit of a chance, but seeing as in the
last two at bats they've given up four runs, and
(15:31):
I know that might be a little bit of an overreaction.
This is a Dodgers team that's way too good. This
is a Reds team that is hot, and one of
the more important things in baseball when it comes to
the playoffs being hot at the right time. This Red
Team's is. This Reds team is hot, you can call
them red hot, but they're not quite there right now.
They go up against an absolute monster of a team,
(15:52):
the Monstars over there in La looking for their second
straight World Series title. I think the Dodgers roll in
two in this one.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
With the way it's going, Yeah, no doubt about it.
It's five nothing. Ti Oscar Hernandez show hay. Obviously, if
you mentioned at the top of the show starting it
off for the Dodgers, but ta Oscar Hernandez and Andrew
Edmund over there, Tommy Edmund, I should say, excuse me,
just going absolutely having great games. In general, this is
(16:23):
an unbelievable Dodgers team on all fronts, from pitching, hitting,
even both, from management, from management perspective, on all fronts,
this is one of the best teams in the MLB.
They are one of the best teams in the MLB
and the most competitive division. And we'll get to their
division mate that's in the playoffs right now. They'll be
the last one team we cover here. But the Dodgers
(16:46):
have been phenomenal. I expect them to close the series
out in two games and get ready for the NLDS.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
Agree the Reds team is obviously they're not a bad team.
They're in the postseason, but they're by far, I mean,
the worst team in the playoffs. They managed to make it.
I'm not you know, I'm not rooting against them. This
is a Red team that honestly, no one in my opinion,
even in my eyes, I didn't think they're making I
really did not think they would make the playoffs year.
I didn't think they were good enough team. I didn't
think they were well rounded enough. I don't think Ella
(17:13):
Daela Cruz was honestly that good. I still don't. I
never thought he was that kind of a player to
begin with, but obviously he proved me wrong, and the Reds,
whole team, whole Red team did And now they just
happen to have to go against, you know, a top
three team, top five team in the MLB, one of
the most loaded rosters of all time, and the team
and the team that every bookie, every sportsbook had winning
the World Series. We're having had winning the World Series
(17:36):
preseason like a one hundred to one. I mean, it's
just unfortunate. But they're also playing obviously showhal time, and
they're playing against Mookie Betts, They're playing against Freddie Freeman.
I mean, they're playing against one of the best drusts
of all time. It just sucks, you know this, It's
kind of like the underdog team. No one kind of
no one rooted against for. But no, it's all getting there.
I mean, they're not gonna win. It's gonna be Dodger
(17:56):
than two. But Peo'll see him there. Just they're not
gonna get out of it.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Yeah, I like I said, I just don't think. I
think the Dodgers are way overmatched. I've got one more
series to talk about, and then we'll go around and
we'll take talk about the World Series matchups that we
have here. Who's coming out of the NL, who's coming
out of the AL, and who's gonna win the Big
Commissioners Trophy, one of the best trophies in all of sports.
Right there are the World Series Trophy over there. But
(18:21):
let's talk a little bit about this last series, because
this one is the hardest one, in my opinion, to predict.
You have the San Diego Padres traveling to Chicago to
take on the Cubs. The Cubs, who were the number
one seed in the NL for quite a while there
early on in the year, they can't quite find a
way to finish out the season. PCA really struggled down
the stretch. The pitching struggled a little bit down the stretch,
(18:41):
and yet in Game one, back to back home runs
from Sea Suzuki, Uh from Sea Suzuki and catcher and
the catcher for the cub Excuse me, I'm blanking on
his name. Real quick, back to back home runs give
the give the Cubs a big, big win in Game one.
Now they're playing with house money at home. This is
a This is not a matchup that I expected to
(19:04):
finish in two. I still am riding with the Padres
in this one. Although the Cubs, when Chicago baseball is good,
it makes the rest of baseball good, so it would
be really fun to see them move on. But I
like Dylan Ceason Game two a lot. I really do
like the way that he pitches. I think that Fernando Tatist,
Manny Machado, Luis Arias, everybody on that team is just
too much to be eliminated in the wild Card round
(19:26):
for young Cubs team that just is not quite at
the same level, or at least at least seniority wise.
I think the Padres have enough to get it done
in this series, and I think they move on to
face the Brewers in Round two.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
Completely agree, I mean, don't get it on. The Cubs
have overall been a good gamous entire year obviously at PCA,
who was doing great honestly pre All Star break and
a little bit past the All Star break, but in
retrospect he has kind of fallen off. I wasn't fallen off,
but he's definitely played down to a lot of the
standards of that the fans have had for him. He's
just not been hitting well. He's still a great outfielder,
(20:04):
but he's just heading has just not been going as
well nearly as anybody thought it would take a drop off,
and it has. I mean, he's a bit He's a
huge aspect of that team, and it wasn't able. He
hasn't been able to you know, just carry it over
to the postseason and the rest of the season. Kyle Tucker,
he is a great player too. I mean when you're
going oh and three though in a in your first
post Sheason game, even though he one, you still need
(20:26):
to you know, be making be making players. I mean,
he just gold and get the Dancy Swanson went one
to three as well. I mean the team obviously they won.
It's okay, but you need to be able to, you know,
show your team, show your fans that. Yeah, we're in
the postseason. We can I can still play as well
as I can in the preseason in the regular season,
but this Padjas team is honestly just more well rounded.
I think they're just a better team. I think this
(20:47):
game was kind of like not when say a fluke,
But I think this is the game of the series
of the Pojects will come back down one out and win.
I think Fernando Tatiz has had a lot of posts experience.
They had the name of machado Ian Ryan O'Hearn. Now
being on the on the Padre as well, is if
gonna be helpful to them as well. I think that
they come back tomorrow with more of an ability to
play potes in baseball, come back, win and then win
(21:09):
after that, take to one lead and go on to
the next series.
Speaker 3 (21:13):
I think I'm with you knowing that they come out
tomorrow and get the win against the Cups. But I
think Game three is a big toss up for me.
I don't exactly know who to trust, just going on
the Padres side of things. On the mound, they got
Dylan Ces tomorrow, which we don't really love Dylan SE's
He's not horrible. In four point five Era tour and
(21:34):
fifteen strikeouts this season, not horrible eight and twelve. But
this is obviously a desperate Padres team that's gonna most
likely win tomorrow Game three. Though, you got you Darvish
out there. You Darvish is one of those older guys.
He's one and more. He's not horribly inconsistent, but he
does have some of those bad games every now and again.
(21:55):
And I just don't know what I think. This is
a really really tough off series to pick. I say
it's gonna go three games, but it's a really really
hard series to pick. Also, Jeremy, you were thinking of
Carson Kelly earlier, Yes, with that second home run for
the UH for the Cubs there in Game one. But
(22:19):
I just I trust the Padres tomorrow to at least
even the series, and then we'll see what happens in
game three. It really isn't It really is a coin flip?
Speaker 1 (22:26):
All right, manro I'm gonna start with you here. We're
gonna go back the other way. Give me your team
out of the NL, give me your team out of
the AL. Talk to me about your World Series matchup
a little bit, and give me a winner, all.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
Right, well, you want me to just go straight into
what my World Series matchup prediction you want to do,
because I can either I can go straight into the
deep end and dive in, or I can ease you
guys out there.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Take me through the process. Here, ta take me through
your process.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
All right? To make it easier, We're gonna we'll start
with the NL, just to just to start it off
in the NL. I mean, I really like the Dodgers
to come out with the Brewers. The Cubs are two
really young teams. I also, I didn't even say it
in the last segment, I think the Cubs are gonna
end up beating the Padres two to one. But these
are two really young teams in the NL Central I
can't really trust a whole lot yet. The Phillies. I
(23:17):
think we're expecting a Dodgers Phillies NLCS. At least in
my eyes, these are two of the best. These are
the two best teams in the NL right now that
I really love both sides, Bryce Hartburn show show Hao Tani,
the pitching on both sides, the managing. I really love
both these teams. But I have to roll with the
Dodgers in six in that NLCS, so I have them
(23:39):
going to the World Series. On the AL side of
things is where it gets dicey and you guys are
gonna shoot me. But oh well, let's start off with
the al Central. The Guardians and the Tigers are two
really young teams. The Tigers I can't trust right now.
They're just not one of the better teams. The Blue
Jays are another team that are another team that's a
little bit in consistent. I think they're a team that
(24:01):
showed they can be beat as we close this season,
so but I do I do realize they're on the
other side of the bracket, so it's not gonna really matter.
I expect them to be in the ALCS. I think
whoever beats whoever wins the Red Sox Mariners series, man,
whoever wins that series is going is coming out of
the AL the Mariners being one of the more red
(24:23):
hot teams. The Red Sox obviously have the better pitching,
the Mariners have the better hitting. It's just gonna be
it's gonna be a matchup of who wins that battle.
It's gonna it's gonna be pitching verse hitting. In the
ALDS next round. I expect the Red Sox to beat
the Yankees, and I think it's gonna be a phenomenal series.
I can't wait to see it. These are two of
the best teams in the AL But if I had
(24:46):
to pick one, of course, I'm gonna roll with my team,
and I'm gonna say the Red Sox come out and
meet the Dodgers in the World Series. But I'm not crazy.
The Dodgers are gonna beat the Red Sox in the
World Series if that happens, and it'll probably be in
about five or six games in my opinion, but it'll
be a really fun world series to see Red Sox
firsts Dodgers in the World Series.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
I like it. I like it a lot, I really do.
I think. Uh. I think there's a lot of.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Teams, yeah, there, I think.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
I think there's just I think there's just a lot
of ways this playoff could go. But the Dodgers are
going to be a tough out no matter how it goes. Nolan,
what's your World Series? Walk me through it? How's how
is the MLB Playoffs gonna go?
Speaker 2 (25:26):
Here we go? It was getting even nice and easy
to you. Dodgers beat the reds in in two and
the Padres beat the Cubs in three. Then the Dodgers
play the Phillies. I have the Phillies winning that series
in five, or sorry, in six.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
That's a five game series the way five.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Sorry I thought I have them beating I hadn't winning
at five. Sorry, had the winning it five? I had,
I said five, first I found six. I hadn't winning
at five. The Phillies been playing great this honestly, just
the entire season. I would say. Everybody says they don't
have the playoff experience, and they don't. They get they
don't probably well in the playoffs. I think this year,
I say this in the past like three years, this
is their year. I'm like high, like high, I'm super
(26:03):
high on them. This year. Bryce Harper's is phenomenal. The
Castians is all the phenomenal trade turned, I mean, the
whole team is phenomenal. So I have to go with
the Phillies and the Padres and the Brewers. The Brewers, obviously,
like for the past few years, have always made the playoffs,
but don't really go don't really do too much with it.
They don't really make a big deep run. I but
(26:24):
this year, I think this year is different. I think
this year is they are such They are obviously the
best team in baseball right now overall. And I think
they beat the Padres in four. I think they're just so.
I think they're so good. And then in the NLCS,
I think that even though they're I've been just you know,
talking how good they are. I think the Phillies win.
I think the Phillies are, like I said in my
they're one of my favorite teams in the MLB that
(26:46):
aren't the Tigers. So I had the Phillies making it
to the World Series and the nlside of the Baseball
on the other side, Guardians Tigers. Is this being biased, yeah, probably,
but I want the Tigers. I think the Tigers can
honestly match up well against the Guardians and playing them well,
we've played them enough now to know how they play,
how to pitch against them, who to pitch against. I
think that this is the Guardians or the Tigers series
(27:08):
to win, hopefully, And then we have Yankees Red Sox.
Have the Red Sox. They already won Game one. I
think they'll win Game two, if not Game three. I
think they're just in New York now. They already won
their game. This is their series to win. And then
we have Tiger's versus Mariners. I have the Mariners. They're
just such a good team. Cal Riley is just one
of the best players in Basel right now, and it's
(27:28):
so well rounded. And then I had the Blue Jays
versus the Red Sox. Honestly, I can toss that game
up either way. It doesn't Maddox have the Mariners beating
whoever wins that series. So in my World Series, I
have the Mariners versus the Phillies.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Mariners versus Phillies. Who you got winning in?
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Oh see, now you put me in the spot with
that one.
Speaker 1 (27:51):
You know what can't you can't you can't not have
you can question man.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Okay, okay, Harry, here's the thing. Not really is the thing.
I mean, if cal Rally win the World Series, will
that be one of the greatest single seasons of all time? Yeah?
Is he gonna win against the Phillies? I don't think so.
I think the Phillies. I think the Phillies are a
better team than the Mariners are. I think they really are.
(28:17):
I think they just have better pitching, better hitting. Maybe
not I just because I'm maybe they do. But certain
players play veteran worse in postseason, but I think the
Phillies are just better than Mariners. I think the Phillies
the World Series this year.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
I like it. I like it. Let's run through mine
real quick. I'm gonna start out in the nl just
like you guys did. The Dodgers dispatch the Reds two
games to none, move on to take the Phillies. Padres
take care of business against the Cubs three games in
that one, take on the Brewers, the Brewers first appearance
since twenty twenty one in the NLDS, and it ends
(28:52):
right there. In five games. The San Diego Padres advance
to the NLCS to fake on none other but the
Philadelphia Phillies. I just think there's too many injuries with
the Dodgers pitching staffs. I know the Phillies also without
their ace over there, but still I think that team
is good enough without them. I'm taking the Phillies to
(29:14):
win that series in five games, Phillies versus the Padres
for a trip to the Big Dance, a trip to
the World Series. I'm riding with the Philadelphia Phillies they
make it back to the World Series. This is a
really good Phillies team. Bryce Harper looking to win his
first World Series title. Over there, on the al side
(29:37):
of things, I think the Guardians advance past the Tigers.
The Tigers just don't really have the bullpen. As we
were talking about, Guardians in three games. I think the
Red Sox sweep the Yankees in two games, move on
to face the Blue Jays, then the Blue Jays Red Sox.
That one's gonna be really fun. Another Al East matchup.
I'm gonna ride with the Socks. The Red Sox continue
(29:58):
their magical journey. They advance in five games against the
Toronto Blue Jays. I just really really like Garrett Crochet
and that pitching, and I think that's gonna be the difference.
The Mariners advanced. Likewise, they win in four games against
the Cleveland Guardians, setting up a Mariners versus Red Sox alcs.
Who would have predicted this? How did we get here?
(30:19):
Nobody knows. I'm taking the Mariners. They make it all
the way to the World Series. Cal ralely pushing this
team forward with his big dumper over there. This is
a huge, huge series and I think that's gonna be
the most fun one overall of the playoffs. If it
were to come to fruition, I've got again. I'm taking that,
(30:41):
and I'm taking that in seven games. Mariners move on.
Mariners versus Phillies, the battle of the two seeds in
the World Series. I think it might be their year.
I'm riding with the Mariners. I'm riding with Cal Raley.
I'm taking an MVP catcher and the rest of that team,
(31:03):
one of the best pitching staffs in baseball to take
care of the Phillies. If you can't tell, pitching is
what I think wins championships, and when it comes to baseball,
you see it every year. It's starting pitching against the bullpen.
And I think the Mariners have the best overall pitching
in baseball right now, and I think if their bats
can just be consistent, They've been so hot right now.
I'm really worried about how this break is gonna hurt them,
(31:25):
because we've seen breaks hurt teams in the past. But
I'm riding with the Mariners. They're going to win their
first ever World Series in twenty twenty five. That is
the playoffs. Will keep you updated as things go on.
Bottom of the fourth Dodgers still up five nothing, Shoho
Tani is up to bat, looking if he can continue
(31:47):
his phenomenal day, looking to extend an already huge Dodgers
lead in Game one. But let's talk a little bit
about college football, guys, because it is Tuesday, and every
single Tuesday, we have to go over our college football
Top twenty five. Nolan, there is a lot to talk
about here in college football. One of the craziest weeks,
(32:08):
I would say the craziest week in college football top
to bottom. A lot of things have changed. I have
two teams dropping out of my top twenty five after losses.
TCU falls to Arizona State on the road twenty seven
to twenty four. They fall out after just one week
in the top twenty five, and USC, after me finally
(32:29):
caving and saying, you know what, they might be a
good team, they drop one to Illinois, who a good team,
thirty two to thirty four. It's just bad coaching over
there for USC. They fall out of the Top twenty
five as well. BYU kicks off the top twenty five
with UVA their big win over Florida State being the
number the first team out. Arizona State and Mississippi State
(32:51):
getting some love as well. Those are the three teams
that just missed my play my top twenty five this
week when it comes to college football, Well, like I said,
BYU they have a huge comeback win over Colorado. That's
a solid win. Colorado might not be as good as
they were last year, but there's still a good team
this year BYU comeback. I really like the way that
their young quarterback is playing. And when you have a
(33:13):
defense like that, when you have a stadium that's as
rocking as byuses every single game, I don't get it.
The stadium's in Utah. They just go, don't I guess
there's nothing else to do out there when you are
on a campus in Utah. But they love their sports
teams they go over there. Number twenty five the BYU
Cougars Illinois back into the top twenty five after a
(33:35):
one week hiatus off of the list. They get a
big win over USC Illinois back into the top twenty five.
I really do like this team. I just when you
let sixty three points up on you lose by forty
points to Indiana, you kind of got to drop out
of there. I think Michigan keeps their spot. They were
idle this week there at number twenty three Louisville with
(33:58):
a big win thirty four to twenty seven, and at
pitt they're in line to be a sneaky ACC title
contender after that Florida State loss. Big game against UVA
this week, that should be a whole lot of fun.
They're at number twenty two for me, and at twenty
one Nolan, I've got the utes. Another Utah team, that
one when they play BYU is gonna be massive. As
(34:20):
the Big twelve just has about thirteen teams that are
right there or right at the twenty to forty range,
but none of them really too far up the list. Here.
Utah rounds at the first five of our top twenty five,
at number twenty one, first five.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
I really do like BYU being able to make this
BYU as a honestly just one of the more underrated teams,
just honestly uncomfortable. They have a great quarterback and they
have a great incoming quarterback. Who's that high school crew?
I mean he's a he's really good. I mean they
have a great quarterback system. And BYU for some reason
right now, their defense is good. They're playing great overall
defense against Colorado. Colorado, we saw that a sop. Their
(34:57):
run games out there, pass game pretty well, I mean
for by Houston and mean Coyad's got a pretty good offense,
but you know, seeing them kind of hold them to
as many point I think it was like seventeen points.
I believe in a pretty good game. I think BYU
deserves to be on this list. I like them by
twenty five Illinois. I do like them being twenty four.
Like you said, losing by forty fifty points to Indiana
(35:19):
and then thinking also listen, beating USC, who was honestly
regarded as one of the best teams in the Big
Ten behind the Penn State, Oregon and Ohio State. It's
good to you know, them kind of proving their mark. Yeah,
we got slaughtered by Indiana, but we could still beat
ranked teams. And they beat a ranked team in USC,
who was always known to be a great offensive team.
And the Illinois came in there, shut down their shut
(35:40):
down their offense without without USC's offense, but basically nothing
because respectfully, the defense is they're not a defensive school.
They produce offensive talent, you don't really see it too
many defensive threats coming out of there, So they would
just shut that offense down and get the win. Good
stuff on. Illinois could get much much into bounce back win,
and Michigan I would say, hiatus this week. So nothing
(36:00):
much to talk about there price everyone's looking good though. Louisville,
I mean Louisville is honestly one of the like you said,
one of the most sneaky underdog teams in the a CEC.
Florida say has lost, it's huge for them them losing
to Virginia. Great game, by the way, So Louisville's proven
to be a good team, great quarterback, great offense. I'll
be excited to see how all they playing out the
rest of the year because the EECC isn't looking you know,
(36:20):
it's looking competitive. Obviously have Miami, obviously you have you know, uh,
Florida State, sorry, Virginia, Louisville.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
There's a lot of teams at the top of the AC.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
Lots of great teams in the AEC right now. It's
a lot better than the ACC was last year, a
lot more competitive, and honestly, lois this this schedules, there's
not going to be any acc like, nothing easy. So
I'm really excited to see how all they can perform
come the end of the year when the game starts
to matter the most, and then Utah. Honestly, I don't
have too much to say about Utah. I don't really
don't follow them too much, honestly, but I mean seeing
(36:54):
them in the top twenty. When Utah is good, I
feel like when Utah is good, football is good. Because
obviously they were in the roles of Bowl for your ago,
I was doing their rank. They're a great team, so
I like to say Utah do well. I don't follow
them too much, price to start doing that more. But
Utah twenty obviously they've had a good season or four
and one right now, so can't complaim with the good
Utah twenty I like that or twenty one.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
I gotta say this next section here really put me
through the most because there's a lot of teams that
I want to move up on this list, but there
just isn't really teams that I can put them ahead
of Iowa State one of those teams, for instance, they
fall one spot this week. They didn't do anything wrong.
They actually proved to me they that they deserve to
be this high after a big win over Arizona. And
(37:34):
yet there were other teams that I just had to
put ahead of them. Tennessee. I love the win, the
way I thought, the way they played against the Mississippi
State team in Starkville, Mississippi is a huge indicator of
this team. Joey Aguilar ridiculous the way he is on
Heisman Watch right now. I did not expect that out
of him. I thought the offense might take us take
a step back. The defense is still concerning, but I
(37:56):
like Tennessee a lot. Notre Dame finally shows up fifty
six to thirteen on the road at Arkansas. Sam Pittman
fired after that game. That's all you need to know.
Notre Dame gets a huge SEC win. They have a
big date with Boise State this week. That one loser
of that game eliminated from postseason potential. Over there, Georgia
Tech another team I want to move up. They almost
(38:18):
almost lose to Wake Forest thirty to twenty nine victory,
but they're able to escape. And Missouri another team that
I really want to move up. Beating up on your
U MASS team over there may rob forty two to six.
Oh my god, it's what you expect, right, But but
that was that was a huge showing from Missouri. They're
running back on Heisman Heisman watch over there. I really
(38:41):
am a big fan of this Missouri Tigers team this
year destroyed U Mass forty two to six. They did
give up six points though, you think that's a win.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
No, No, it's you Mass.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
What are we talking about here? It's U Mass football.
It's not you Mass healthcare engineering, or it's not you Mass.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
It's not Eisenberg that we're talking about here.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
It's U Mass football. And there's not much you can expect.
There's no expectations to Mass.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
Six points on Missouri, big big spot for them right there.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
Future MAC team Mass, by the way, future MAC team, I.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
Can see it moving up here. At number fifteen. LSU
down eleven spots after their loss to Ole Miss last week.
That's a big drop. Ole Miss is a very good team.
But I think this was a little bit of something
that I had a while coming. The reason LSU was
so high up is because they beat Clemson in Week one.
That's not that's not a win, that's uh, you know,
aging too great. At this point, feels like anybody can
(39:41):
beat Clemson the way that Clemson is playing football. LSU
down eleven spot. I think it kind of fits fixes
where they were. Similarly, Penn State also down eleven spots.
You might say that's harsh. They lost to a team
that you have in your top five, Jeremy uh and
you'll see exactly how how high excuse me, exactly how
high I have Oregon in a second. But Penn State
(40:04):
hasn't played anybody yet. There's other teams that have a
better resume than them, and I know they're gonna be good.
Fourteen might be a little disrespectful, but I just could
not put them above a couple teams that have proven
that they have big wins against great teams. Penn State
ten eleven spots to number fourteen Texas tech Idol. Last
week they fall a spot, so there's room for other teams.
(40:25):
Florida State with a brutal loss and they only fall
two spots for me, I know, I know Florida State
is a team, or excuse me, and Florida State falls
four spots. Excuse me, I apologize Florida State. Florida State's
still a really, really good football team. They beat Alabama.
Alabama just beat Georgia. You have to respect that. UVA
is not a bad loss. UVA ranked in the top
(40:48):
twenty five of the A people with good reason. That
offense is really really exciting. I just think it was
a trap game for them. I'm not gonna punish them
too much. Vanderbilt rounds out our top are not top ten.
In our top twenty five, I should say they are
up three spots with an absolute dominant win over Utah
(41:09):
State fifty five to thirty three. That one didn't mean
too much. It's just the fact that this is a
Vanderbilt Commodore's team that is for real. I just couldn't
quite put him into the top ten. Big game against Alabama,
that one is going to be must watch television this week.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
No one, I'll tell you that much. I think if
Vanderbilt honestly, well, first off, they had to win the
game against Alabama to be in my opinion ELLEGI. I mean, see,
they're fifteenth the obviously they're in your fifteen. I believe
in ap they are sixteen, so you're right there with them.
But they haven't really you know, they're a the SEC,
so obviously not playing a bunch of scrubs. But this
(41:44):
being is Alabama's their biggest task because last year they
beat him unranked this year. They're going college game Day
sixteen verse fifteen, I believe, or sixteen versus ten. I mean,
it's gonna be an Alegit game. If Vanderbilt can keep
it close or even win the game, I think that
Vanderbilt would be legit. I think they are a legit
team right now. But if they can make us beat
Alabama keep it close, they can prove themselves to be
(42:06):
an even more legit team than they already are. Penn State,
he says this before the show, and we'll say it again.
Drew Aller is overrated and he's not a highsand quarterback.
Everybody in the preaching Drew Aller is legit. Drew House
all this, he really isn't. In my opinion. Tyler Warren
was the reason he was so good. Penn State also
just can't seem to beat get over the you know,
(42:26):
beat big teams thing. I don't really think that's James
Franklin's fault. I think that's the playing on my in
their part. But I digress. They have a pretty rough
scout coming up against going to Iowa and Ohio State
at the playing Indiana at home. We'll see, well, you know,
James Franklin and the Nitty Lions can do. I mean,
that's a pretty rough schedule. So if they can handle that,
maybe a legit. But if they can't beat Ohio State
(42:48):
or Indiana, maybe even lose to Iowa, I think there's
some serious question if James Franklin will be there next
year or in the coming years. Again, Florida State legit
loss to Virginia. Virginia is a legit team. They are
ranked twenty three and the eight people they are a
great team. Virginia is this definite good team. I did
not see being ranked at all. Virginia has not been
a good pale football team, and I'd say probably five years.
Speaker 1 (43:12):
It's been a while.
Speaker 2 (43:14):
It has been quite a while. And no one saw
Virginia beating a Florida State team that came off of
win Week one against not only Alabama, but going from
a team that had two wins last year to being
a top ten team and number eight. No one saw
Virginia losing that or Virginia winning that game, and no
one's sof Fforida State losing that game obviously a phenomenal upset.
(43:35):
One of the greatest crowds rushers of all time. That's doing.
Section just absolutely dismantled that receiver on the ground. He
probably died, Thank blood.
Speaker 1 (43:43):
He was okay, I will say, thank god.
Speaker 2 (43:45):
I think there was like pigeon, that's a pretty funny name.
But he had like a really funny name. He's okay,
thank god. But yeah, one of the greatest crowd rushings
of all time. Virginia AFUA deserve to be ranked now
and the legit anybody that I miss No, that's it. Yeah,
I think that's a really good section right there.
Speaker 1 (44:02):
Let's get into our top ten here, the triple threat
top ten on every single Tuesday. We're gonna start off
at number ten. Welcome to the top ten first time
all season to your Indiana Hoosiers. What do they do
to get here? They beat Iowa by four points? This
is more again other teams ahead of them losing. We
had a lot of teams in the top ten lose.
We had four top ten losses. Last week. Indiana slides
(44:26):
up takes one of those spots away as they are
number ten in the pol Kurtz Signetti has gotten those
boys to win. Google him. All he does is win
Texas idle last week up a spot after a couple
losses from around them, they get a big game. This
is a prove it game. The last time they played
a real team at Ohio State, arch Manning did not
(44:46):
look like a good quarterback. Now he is Florida, we'll see.
This is a big test for them. Oklahoma without Heisman
front runner John Mattier still idles, still up a spot.
They haven't done anything wrong yet. I can't punish them,
but if they lose a game that isn't against Texas,
They're gonna fall pretty far. That's a brutal loss, not
having your quarterback for a month. Ole Miss up into
(45:08):
the top ten. Welcome to the Rebels. Up eight spots
are is Ole Miss. After a massive win against LSU,
they're here to number seven. This is not an Ole
Miss team that I particularly think is a Super SEC
title contender, but they just have found a way to
win games. They beat LSU with a really good defense,
(45:28):
despite that offense not being there. They stuffed them a
couple times. They find a way to win shootouts, They
find a way to win tight defensive battles. Just finding
a way to win is something that needs to be
you know, given there its own props. You don't have
to blow your team out every single week. It'd be
nice if you did, but you don't have to. The
fact that they keep finding different ways to win is
(45:50):
really impressive. Georgia stays at number six, and you might say, Jeremy,
Georgia lost. Yes, they lost, but they lost to a
very good Alabama team. And at the end of the day,
I think is better than Ole Miss. I think Georgia
is better than Oklahoma. I think Georgia is better than
Texas and Indiana and Vandy and Florida State and so
on and so forth. Georgia is the sixth best team
in the country. Maybe just other people had them ranked
(46:12):
too high. If I'm being honest, Georgia very very good
at football. They're here at number six. Alabama, the team
that beat them, Welcome to the top five. Alabama. The
Crimson tied up eight spots. Tied for the biggest leap
with Ole Miss into the top five is Alabama. They
own Georgia. They just simply own Georgia. That's all it is.
At the end of the day, Alabama is just too
(46:34):
much for Georgia to handle. How about Texas, A and M.
They've been winning games that they usually lose, and now
they're up into the top five at number four. Texas
A and M up three spots after last week a
big win at Auburn sixteen to ten. A sloppy game,
but again, it's not about blowing the team out, not
about looking pretty. It's about what the score is on
paper at the end of the day, and Texas A
(46:56):
and M has it in the right side of the
category that w as they can continue their perfect season.
Miami down a spot on a bye week. Again, I
just had other teams ahead of them and a swap
at number one. Ohio State no longer the number one
team in the nation despite a win at Washington. A
more impressive win happen this week. Oregon goes in to
(47:18):
Happy Valley during the white out game at night and
they take care of business in a double overtime thriller
thirty to twenty four at Penn State. Oregon the number
one team in the nation. They have not lost a
game since the playoffs. Too. Since the playoffs of last year,
they haven't lost a regular season game in over a
(47:39):
calendar year. It is incredibly impressive. They have the longest
win streak in the regular season in the country. Shout
out Oregon. They are having an excellent year and they
are back a top number one in college football.
Speaker 2 (47:55):
They're competting the Jet. I think the Dante Moore is
honestly one of the best quarterbacks in footbal right now.
I think it's a top three quarterback in collegetable right now.
It's I think he's just proven to be a great quarterback,
great leader, and they have an all a true freshman
at receiver. They're like, why is he for number one?
I mean, this freshman team, This Oregon team is legit.
Their defense is great, their offense is phenomenal. Oregon completely
(48:18):
deserves to be the number one team. They just proved obviously.
They just beat Penn State at Penn State during the
white out. I mean in that alone, that shod them
up like ten points. But they already high enough they
didn't have to. But they're just so well coached and
just such a well fundamental and such a well like
they're just there's a great, great coach team. They really are.
They have a lot of they're great discipline. They didn't
(48:39):
they had very few penalties that game against Penn State
when it was loud and the deserving environment. They were
able to step up, play the best ball they needed
to when they needed to, and they got the job
done in the Happy Valley and then the rest of
your list. I like it a lot. I do think
that in my opinion. But go back to Old Miss.
I think Old Miss is a legit SEC contender. I
think that Trendidad is a phenomenal quarterback. I think right now,
(49:00):
if he's playing like the way he is, I think
he will be a highest in canadaate the top three
towards the end of the season. I think he's played great.
Elaine Kiffin has been one of the best coaches in
college football so far this year, getting wins and he
needed to. This week. Obviously, you just beat you know,
Brian Kelly and the LS Tree Tigers, who obviously you
had dropped with love in spots. I think that they
definitely could still be up a little higher. I think
(49:21):
less enough. Luke Nussmeyer has still been a really good
quarterback despite the loss. I think that Brian Kelly, maybe
he's not the coach for LSU. I think he is
a great quarterback. Don't get me wrong, but our great coach. Sorry,
but I just maybe he's the problem. I'm not sure,
but I think the roster at LSU is good enough to,
you know, still be a legit team. I think they
still are legit team. I think they will finish easily
(49:44):
a top four, top three. Maybe Lowis still finished his
top five in the SEC, but I think they're a
legit team. But overall this also Texas A and M
is legit. Texas A and M just beat Auburn in
a great game. I think that. Also their quarterback Marcel Reid,
I think I think he also will be a heis
and fort runner towards the end of the season as well.
I think he's phenomenal. Texas A and M is I
(50:05):
said it early in the posts, early in the four
the season started. In the preseason, I said, Texas A
and M is my SEC sleeper team. I think that's
kind of proven to be. Go back into the tapes.
It's there somewhere, but maybe but it's there somewhere when
we did the MC it's in there somewhere. But yeah.
I think that the SEC this year is honestly more
(50:26):
competitive than it's been in a while. I think every
team right now is just honestly can just be anywhere
at the end of the season. I think Missouri could
be a top five. Know Dame Aszuri can win the SEC.
I mean, it's just so unbelievably just good right now.
Speaker 1 (50:40):
The SEC is always top heavy.
Speaker 3 (50:42):
It is.
Speaker 1 (50:42):
You've got you know, your usual suspects, your Alabama's, your George's,
your old Missus, Texas, newcomer, Oklahoma up there, all these
teams in my top ten. But you even go further back,
like Vanderbilt's ranked, you have LSU ranked, Missouri ranked, Tennessee
is ranked. They're very very good this year as well.
There's a lot of great teams in the SEC.
Speaker 2 (51:01):
To your point, I mean, how can I be wrong? No?
But yeah, no, I mean I feel like I feel
like football is great when the SEC is just kind
of loaded, I feel like guys is good. I like
seeing the SEC. I know it's not a good thing
that I want to see. No other conferences, other divisions
you know, spread around and be good as well. But
we have that right now. We have some big twelve
teams in there. We have some pack We don't have
(51:23):
any paths alves so we will soon maybe hopefully. But
I mean we have some acc we have SEC, we
have big ten, we have do we have any Mountain West.
I don't think we do. Ah, there's a Mountain West,
but I mean, I don't know. It's just great when
I feel like alabal is kind of not really top heavy,
but when it's kind of well rounded, and I feel
like the kind of is right now but kind of
(51:43):
not at the same time. But overall whatever, football is great.
This is a great Top twenty five. It's obviously very
similar to the eight P Top twenty five, and I
think you did a great job with it. I think
that next week is gonna be obviously another great week
of Collge football and got some great slates, got some
great games, and next week is gonna be just like
this week, just great one watch again.
Speaker 1 (52:01):
Say you know, like I said, we're gonna run through
my top ten real quick, and then we're gonna get
into some NBA basketball, dude. The NBA is all most here,
right around the corner of the Warriors finally making some moves.
But the Top ten, the Triple Threat show every Tuesday,
Top ten here, we'll run through it. Indiana at number ten,
(52:23):
Texas at number nine, Oklahoma at eight, Ole Miss seven,
Georgia at number six, Alabama five, Texas a and m
in the top five at number four, Miami down to three,
Ohio State no longer number one at number two, and
that leaves the Ducks, the Oregon Ducks back up top
college football royalty for Dan Lanning and the Ducks, they're
(52:46):
at number one yet again. But let's get into a
little bit of basketball here on the Triple Threat Show.
It has been a long time since we talked some basketball,
but it also has been a pretty quiet offseason. After
Sean's promised it was gonna be the one of the
best off seasons of all time, Nolan, it has just
(53:07):
been nothing. Like they went radio silent.
Speaker 2 (53:12):
There's been nothing for the past few months. There's a
few Now, oh, here's this random guy Gains. I knew
his two year to the bowld or like uh nikolea
Yukovitch retiring. That was kind of the biggest thing that
happened this postseason. I mean there really was. I mean,
there really wasn't much postseason, but damn's the liar. No
would do this to us.
Speaker 1 (53:31):
Look, you know the NBA is waking up when one team,
the Warriors, who have literally done nothing all off season,
quite literally made no moves, finally have made a flurry
of decisions down the stretch. They're trying to compete in
the last couple of years of Steph Curry. It could
have fooled me. Didn't think, didn't seem like it the
(53:53):
way that they were making moves this offseason. Curry he's
got what two three four, I don't know, He's got
a couple more years left in him to be something,
to be a championship level guy. They do nothing. Of course,
the big thing with them Jonathan Kaminga. He officially signs
today two year, forty eight point six million dollar deal.
That is I think a lot of money for him.
(54:14):
I don't even know if he's good or not. If
I'm being honest. May Rob Kuminga is a really interesting case.
They also go out and get Al Hortford, who, Yeah,
get the old guys, put them together, make sure that
they got the same tie lone. I like out. I
like Hortford a lot, honestly, but I don't know what
he's really gonna do for this Warriors team. He's not
gonna be able to play the minutes they need him to.
Pair them up with Jimmy Butler, paramo with Draymond Green.
(54:35):
Pair him up with Steph Curry and his brother Steph Curry,
Seth Curry, the Splash Bros. Part two real brothers, this
time coming together in Golden State, May Rob. They're making moves.
The NBA's back. Talk to me, man, what's going on?
Speaker 3 (54:54):
The NBA is back and the world is better when
the NBA is back. My friend, we got when we're
talking about the Warriors here, you mentioned it. I kind
of want to jump into the main thing. First. Of course,
we can talk about the Horfords. It's nice to see
Steph and Seth together, the Curry Bros, the Splash Bros,
the true brothers, like you said, But it's about Jonathan Kaminga.
(55:16):
It's about that two year, forty eight and a half
million dollars and the fact I didn't really look into
it too crazy, Jeremy, Is there any clauses? Is there
a no trade clause in that one?
Speaker 1 (55:26):
I believe there is no trade clause in that one.
Speaker 2 (55:29):
That is what you're deal, only a two year deal.
Speaker 3 (55:32):
But that is what held Jonathan Kaminga all this time
from signing that contract. It was the fact that the
Warriors we're trying to flip him, We're trying to use
him as a trade piece for a much bigger deal,
and Kaminga's like, no, I don't want to.
Speaker 2 (55:46):
I don't want to.
Speaker 3 (55:47):
I've been developing here. I want to continue developing here,
or just let me go. Don't try to put me
in the middle of this tug of war. That's the
essence of what has happened, what was happening there in
Golden State. Nonetheless, Now this is a guy in Jonathan
Minga that has a lot of points, has a lot
of poise. I think he has a lot of promise
(56:08):
in the league. He's still a younger guy. I think
he's a great He's good at finishing at the room.
He's got a nice mid range shot. He's a nice
shooting guard esque player. Uh The Warriors love to use
him as a point guard, but as a two way player,
Kaminga is a good player to have on the boards,
to run the to run the offense, can shoot the ball,
can pretty much do anything you need him to do.
(56:30):
So I think it's a nice addition. This is a
guy in Jonathan Minga that had offers from the Sacramento
Kings for like four years, almost ninety million dollars, the
same as uh I believe it was the same as
Alex Caruso had recently when he got his deal.
Speaker 2 (56:44):
Uh, just or not?
Speaker 3 (56:46):
Jonathan not Caruso, Josh Giddy, excuse me? His four year,
hundred million dollar deal. That is about that is about
this what Jonathan Minga was looking at outside of Golden State.
Speaker 2 (56:56):
It was just the fact that Golden State wouldn't let
him go. It does matter.
Speaker 3 (57:00):
Nonetheless, he's going to stay in Golden State, gonna continue
developing in that group.
Speaker 2 (57:05):
But I think, are are you sold on him?
Speaker 1 (57:08):
Are you sold on him? Really? Because look, he's had
his opportunities, right Jonathan Kaminga, who, let me correct myself,
does not have that no trade clause. It's a team
option after year one of this deal, so essentially a
one plus one kind of deal here for him. But
over his career, I mean, he's shooting just forty five
percent from the field, thirty percent from three. Are you
(57:30):
really sold on Jonathan Kminga? I feel like he's had
time to prove that he could be a guy. I
know he's only twenty two, but he was drafted four
years ago. Like, is Kuminga really going to be that
kind of difference maker and step up for the Warriors
after four years of this system.
Speaker 3 (57:49):
I just think that friction between him and Steve Kerr
needs to kind of get needs to kind of get
let go. Regardless of what the past is, it just
needs to be let go. If these if this team
is going to be if this relationship is going to
be successful here in Golden State, and it kind of
spills into the rest of the locker room when it
isn't when Jonathan Kaminga is being intentionally benched, or when
(58:11):
Kaminga is saying I don't want to play. It's just
it's on both sides. It's not just on one side.
But when that happens, it's spilling into the entire locker
room and everyone is seeing it. The guys like Brandon
Pajimski out there, the younger guys that are watching this
all take place. It's not good at all. It's not
a good team environment at all. Am I sold on
(58:32):
him talent wise, yes, Do I think he has the
poise and the ability talent wise, yes, But is it
going to be in Golden State? That's the question and
where I mean, something had to come together for this
deal to come through, and that's all we can really
hope for So.
Speaker 1 (58:47):
That's the thing. Look, if I'm Golden State, I you
got to pick if Jonathan Kamingo walks, right, he's a
restricted free agent, right, you have the ability to just
let him go basically offer sheet him at the end
of the day. But they weren't really letting him do that.
Like this was a team that wanted to bring him back,
but also has been really noncommittal on his future when
(59:10):
it comes to where he's gonna play in the NBA,
what his position is going to be. Like a guy
that they picked seventh overall, right, I just feel like
they don't fully believe in him, And given a guy
that they don't fully believe in twenty four twenty five
million dollars a year, it just feels like way too much.
I also think Josh Getty got way too much money.
But I'm just not a big fan of the way
(59:33):
the Warriors have handled this entire offseason. They needed to
go all in and help Curry in. Instead, they sat
there twiddling their thumbs until the last possible minute and
brought in a bunch of old dudes and wash dudes
and dudes that are over the hill and dudes that
you don't know, are gonna be able to help Curry
win another championship? What are the Warriors doing? Like this
(59:54):
makes no sense at all to me.
Speaker 2 (59:57):
I wouldn't say Al Horford's watched. I think he's a
great asshall player. It's a great I think he's good though.
Bringing him in though, isn't definitely what the Warriors needed
to do. They needed to go get a legit center
to Pairson up with Jaymon Green. They needed to go
get just someone who's taller than six' ten to be
in the. PAINT i mean they really. DID i, mean yeah.
(01:00:17):
COOL i mean they had a good. Roster the roster
they had last year went to the. PLAYOFFS i mean they.
DID i mean the roster wasn't that, good and they
so managed to do. IT i think that no matter
how big or how good the team, Is Steph curry
will always be there to kind of just rely. On And,
yeah the one year we saw, that the YEAR i
think it was twenty twenty, three the year after they
won the, Championship clay And curry were. Out we saw
(01:00:39):
how bad they. Were it won like twelve. Games they were.
Horrible but Then sir comes back and he just dominates.
AGAIN i think no matter who who they, get they
will always be, contenders just With Steph curry and plus
they obviously you know you have, brand you have. PODS
i think ABSOLUT i Think kaminga is gonna be. GOOD
i Think kaminga four years a lot of time to.
(01:00:59):
DEVELOP i THINK i think that this year, hopefully in my,
opinion this is WHAT i. THINK i Think Johnathan kaminga
will finally him And Steve kerr will figure it. Out
they just got, signed so they obviously wanted to keep
him for. Something if they didn't want, him they would
have let him. Go they would have just sold him off.
Somewhere they see something in. Him the organization thinks that
they know they finally got their. Guy they signed him
(01:01:20):
for a. REASON i think this year they're gonna utilize
him a lot more and pair him because relatively we'reas.
Rosters every starter they have is thirty five plus years or.
Older Jimmy, Butler, curry L, Orford Draymond. GREEN i mean
they've an old. Roster they see this, guys this guy
could be our next young. Superstar he's twenty two years
old or, yeah twenty two to. THREE i mean he
(01:01:41):
can be. GOOD i think he has a lot of
potential and he's gonna be. Good and they should bring
Back James Wiseman James weisman a. Lot but other than,
THAT i Think kaminga's gonna be. GOOD i think that
they signed him for a. Reason forty million. Dollars it's
not a lot of. MONEY nba BY nba plays make
a lot of money that regardless of those guys get
paid so much money it's. Unbelievable BUT i, MEAN i
think he's this is Your Steph Steph.
Speaker 1 (01:02:02):
Curry Steph curry's thirty, Seven, right that's the, Thing Steph
curry's thirty. Seven AND i don't disagree with a lot
of what you're. SAYING i think this is a solid.
ROSTER i Think hortford still got. It, uh you, know
he played sixty games last. Year he can probably give
you sixty games. Again you're gonna have to rest your.
Guys you Have Jimmy butler thirty, five. Right you Have Draymond,
(01:02:24):
green WHO i don't have his age in front of,
me but IF i had to, guess he's probably like
thirty four to thirty five as. Well, Right this is
this is a this is an old, team and typically
when you have a team of really old, stars WHAT
i would like to see them do is fill out
around the, edges go get some young potential, Guys like
(01:02:46):
they didn't do.
Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
That.
Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
Kaminga isn't That like they know what they have In.
Kaminga Seth curry isn't going to be a crazy guy
off the, bench May rob. Right these these moves that
they're making just feel, Like, oh we're gonna compete to
make the playoffs and that's. It and if you're gonna do,
that what's the point of holding on To? Curry just
make one more big, push put all the chips in
(01:03:09):
the center of the table and try and Get curry
one more. WRITTEN i don't really see why they would
be doing anything.
Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
Else, Agreed, Agreed and that is what everyone across the
league is, saying and that he should that they should be.
Doing it's just the fact that someone needs to tell
them that apparently they Thought Jimmy butler.
Speaker 2 (01:03:27):
Was enough to get it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
Done it.
Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
Does it hasn't.
Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
Seemed it hasn't panned out that. Way and with the
additions that they've made in the in the in free,
agency Adding Al, horford keeping a Aging Draymond. Green, uh
just even though nobody probably Wants Draymond green at this
point across the, league you gotta do. Something you gotta
do something either add younger, players and they thought they
(01:03:50):
could do that With kaminga a twenty two year old
And Jonathan. Kaminga yes he's still, Young yes he has
a lot of. Potential you need somebody that can win,
now not somebody that will develop four years from. Now
right now In Steph, curry because in the last few
years Of Steph curry's window of opportunity, here.
Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
Let's, say just wasn't just real. Quick, sorry BUT i
think that that Adding Al, horford they made the playoffs
last year with his exact same. ROSTER i feel like
adding a guy Like Al horford will only honestly probably
boost them a little. More like he, said he's still got.
It he could probably give you fifty five sixty games
maybe if he doesn't get, hurt, Hopefully BUT i think
that this team is still gonna be the, same maybe
(01:04:31):
if not a little bit. Better just with the addition
of Allho Seth curry maybe could boost your shooting a little.
Bit but in cominga LIKE i, SAID i think it'll be.
GOOD i think this team only in my, opinion doesn't
get a lot, better but they improve just BECAUSE i,
mean they really have the same team Plus Al. Horford
that's ALL i think of.
Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
It, no and you're, right you are right about. THAT
i LIKE i, SAID i agree with a lot of
what you were, Saying. Nolan it just at the end
of the, day the fact that they waited so long
to do basically, nothing it just KINDA i just don't get.
It you're wasting a Future hall Of famer and one
of the best point guards to ever play basketball the
(01:05:09):
end of his. Career although, again there's probably not too
much you can do with a super Competitive west. Anyway
but we're gonna talk a lot more. Basketball basketball starts tips,
OFF i believe in a week and a half from,
now so we're gonna break down THE nba season at
some point next. Week we'll break down THE nhl season
at some point next. Week but we will be back tomorrow.
