Speaker 1 (00:47):
Hellllo, everyone, and welcome to mid Day Missing, where we
highlight current missing persons cases that need more attention. We
do live shows every Monday and Wednesday at noon Central
and then release them on our podcast as well. Now,
as you can see, I am not Darry Truecrime. No.
She unfortunately has some plans this morning that are not

(01:11):
vas that's for sure. But I'm ama and I'll be
filling in for her today, so it'll be a bit
of a shorter show. Probably not as many brands. I
don't know, we'll see you never know what I could bring.
So we got two cases for you guys today. The
first one we have is a teen Shaw. No, there
we go, Sorry, there we go? Okay Now, In the

(01:34):
quiet town of Washburn, Maine, nestled Deep and Ariostook County,
a woman named a Teen Shaw vanished in September twenty
twenty one, and nearly four years later, there are still
no definitive answers. Now. A teen was a native of
Indonesia and moved to Washburn in twenty twenty with her husband,

(01:57):
Mike Shaw, and their four children. Just described as petitgue,
just four feets seven inches tall, with black hair and
brown eyes, Latina was known by relatives as a soft
spoken but spirited woman who often kept in touch with
her family back home in Southeast Asia. Unfortunately, that contact

(02:17):
stopped in August twenty twenty one. Her sister Anita, was
the last known relative to speak with her. In their
final conversations, a teen had reportedly said she was going
to look for work. She was also once active on
social media, but that activity ceased abruptly in the same month.

(02:40):
By September, she was gone, according to documents later shared
by former Washburn Police officer Hunter Bloncio, Mike Shaw told
family members he reported a team missing in October twenty
twenty one. It's kind of a long time because it's

(03:03):
not playing the little video there we go. Okay, that
way you can see all the beautiful pictures of a team,
which is gorgeous. However, Maine State Police where records confirmed
that the report wasn't filed until November twenty twenty one.
Oh this is not looking good for you, Mike Shaw,

(03:24):
nearly two months after she was allegedly seen on September eighth,
twenty twenty one, at their Watchburn home. Suspicious. In the
months following her disappearance, few details emerged publicly. Beloncio, who
was not part of the original investigation, said she became

(03:46):
involved in the early twenty twenty three when several concerned
community members, including an Indonesian family, approached her worried that
no progress was being made. Valencio, a former Washburn officer,
began asking questions and eventually compiled a formal report dated

(04:06):
March ninth, twenty twenty three, which she shared with the
Bangard Daily News. So that's two years after a teen
goes missing. That's interesting. So Blancia's findings raised several red flags. Okay,
red flag number one and wave and I is that

(04:27):
Mike Shaw claimed a teen was working on a cruise
ship but couldn't recall the name of the vessel. Suirly normal, right,
Your wife, mother of your multiple kids, leaving for a
couple months to go work on a cruise ship and
you have no idea what it's called, sir, Get out

(04:47):
of here. When a family friend visited the Shaw home
in December twenty twenty one, she described it as messy,
with trash and a suspicious dark stain on the plywood floors.
Oh boy. Valincio confirmed through federal sources that a team's
passport had not been used or updated, and she had

(05:10):
no social security activity, employment history, or medical records since
her disappearance, and I imagine she was on a cruise
shippy record of all of those things. Unfortunately, there was
no signs of life, no phone use, no sightings, and
no strichal trail. Due to these inconsistencies, Baloncio formally contacted

(05:36):
the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit North in March
twenty twenty three, urging them to take over the case.
I hope Main State Police is better than some of
these other state police. Is that we've seen quote, she's
someone and she's missing, Baloncia said in an interview. Her
family deserves answers and she deserves justice. Bloncio also contacted

(06:02):
the Indonesian Embassy, Border Patrol and the Department of Homeland Security,
though at the time of her report, responses were still pending.
Now adding to the complexity, the case of a teen
Shaw is one of several troubling missing person cases out
of Arista County, which is why this is Maine, Okay.

(06:28):
I didn't really know there was that many people missing
from Maine, let alone. In one County. That's oh boy.
Beloncio's report also mentions her concern about Chandler cole Vin,
sergeant of the Washburne Police Department. Uh. Oh, and we're
got another campon situation on Marian's here. Cole told her

(06:49):
in twenty twenty one that Mike Shaw had said his
wife was on a cruise ship. However, Cole himself was
later criminally charged in an unrelated case. Cool love. That
that's great. Cole had Coal had been involved in the
investigation of Eric Foote, another washburn man who went missing

(07:13):
and was later found deceased. Oh. In twenty twenty four,
Coal was charged with falsifying records, tampering with evidence, and
other crimes connected to that case. Oh no, that's not great,
though he pled guilty to lesser charges in early twenty

(07:34):
twenty five. It is unclear whether Cole's actions are being
reviewed in connection to a teen Shaan's disappearance. As of
February twenty twenty five, the main Attorney General's Office stated
there were no pending charges against him in this case,
but it is gonna seem very suspicious in short. Meanwhile,

(07:57):
the washburn Police Department has since been dissolved. Oh that
means there's a lot of shady stuff going on there. Yikes.
Belsia no longer works in law enforcement, but continues to
advocate for justice in a teen's case. A teen was
officially listed and nameless, which is the national missing and

(08:19):
on an Identified person system in March twenty twenty three.
Her gaze remains open and active with the Main State Police,
who confirmed in early twenty twenty five that investigators are
still following up on leeds and have found no evidence
she is living elsewhere. A searge conducted in March twenty

(08:41):
twenty four did not uncover new locations or known contacts
about her. A letter written by Mike Shaw to a
teen's father. Oh boy, that this is a doozy anyways.
So a written letter by Mike to a teen's father,
referenced in a twenty twenty four article by The Indonesian Lantern,

(09:05):
claimed she may have suffered a mental health breakdown. Oh okay, Mike,
So first she's on a cruise shut and now she
had a mental health breakdown. It's fine, don't worry about her, okay. However,
no formal mental health history has been publicly confirmed, and
the Main State police have not echoed that claim because

(09:27):
it sounds like this this Mike. As of July twenty
twenty fifth, Mike Shaw continues to live in Washburn with
the couple's children. He has reportedly declined interviews with law
enforcement and media start okay okay. The case has also

(09:50):
drawn international attention, especially in Indonesia, where multiple articles have
been published about her disappearance. A Facebook page titled where
is a Teen Shaw was launched in twenty twenty four
and now has over twenty two hundred followers. The page
continues to share updates, missing person flyers and please for tips.

(10:14):
Now he sounds very suspicious, he found. He sounds very suspicious.
The mother of his multiple kids doesn't seem to care
what happened to her. Will they ever find a dean?
I mean, Maine is a very rural area and there

(10:38):
are a lot of woods in Maine. Oh I wish
I had Facebook so I could deep divese case somewhere,
because this is very interesting. If you guys do go
follow that Facebook page and then send me on stuff.
So her case is also listed in the main Department
of Public Safeties Missing person database. Anyone with knowledge of

(11:01):
a teen Shaw's disappearance is urged to contact the main
Stay Police at two zero seven seven four three eight
two A two. If you know something, say something, okay,
even if you don't think it's a big, big something.
It could be two investigators. You just don't know now.

media Next Unfortunately, because there's always so many of these,
we're going to talk about Stephanie Arlene jin Vamron so.
On September twenty third, twenty twenty four, the deep woods
of New Sweden, Maine, swallowed a young girl without a trace.

(12:12):
Thirteen year old Stephanie Arlen Jen Damron had just argued
with her sister over chores. Oh my gosh, she's so young.
Oh exkin me hard. Their family home, a homespun urt
like structor structure tucked into twenty six wooded acres, offered
little room for privacy and Stephanie emotional stepped outside. These

(12:38):
people are living in a yurt in Maine. I can't
imagine that would be very cold, I would think. Okay,
her grandfather figure, Richard, watched her walk off into the
dense tree line. A short time leader, a vehicle was
reportedly heard passing nearby. No one thought much of it

(13:00):
at the time. Okay, but they're like on twenty six
wooded acres, Like how many people are really driving by?
But okay. Unfortunately, Stephanie didn't return and she hasn't been
seen since. Born on October sixth, twenty ten, Stephanie was

(13:22):
the middle child of Christopher Dale Damron and Lisa Marie Damron.
She lived with her five siblings, ages eight to twenty one,
and an elderly man named Richard, who had no familiar
ties but was treated as a grandfather figure. He had
lived with the family for most of Stephanie's life. Okay, okay.

(13:46):
The damn Ron family had moved often from West Virginia
to Texas, Illinois, and finally named now Lisa. The mother
hailed from Georgia and Christopher from West Virginia. Yeah. It
also lived in Florida and Rhode Islands. So these people
are just all over the place. Okay, their lifestyle was

(14:10):
distinctly off grid. I would say so living in a
year name. But okay. The families that dome like home
had no running water, no indoor plumbing, and power came
via a generator. This sounds freaking awful to raise a family.
But none of the children were enrolled in public school.

(14:32):
Of course they weren't, Okay. The family homeschooled and the
older children often transitioned to the job corp programs. It
kept largely to themselves. Though Christopher had several siblings and
have siblings, the family had few ties to extended relatives.

(14:55):
The closest bond appeared to be with Jerry, Stephanie's great
aunt in Illinois. It was just after noon on Monday,
September twenty third, twenty twenty four, when Stephanie reportedly had
a dispute with her sister. Her parents were away in
a ca in Caribou for a job interview and errands.

(15:18):
As the story goes, Stephanie, frustrated, stormed off into the
woods near the rural home in New Sweden, a quiet,
unincorporated community near the Canadian border. She was the last
scene wearing blue jeans a long sleeved blue shirt in
black David Harley Davidson hiking boots. At five foot tall

(15:42):
and approximately one hundred and thirty pounds, with shoulder length,
brown hair and green eyes. Stephanie was described as outdoor, stappy,
and familiar with the forest around home. She had reportedly
gone off before but always came back, but this time
hours turned into dates. On September twenty fourth, her parents

(16:03):
reported her missing. Law enforcement responded swiftly, with the main
state Police Troop F led the initial investigation. Given the
potential for abduction, the FBI's Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team
was activated. The main warden surface service was ground search

(16:27):
used ground search crews sorry K nineteens and aerial units.
The RCMP, which is in Canadian Canadia in Canada worked
contacted in case Stephanie had crossed bordered. The search radius grew, neighbors,

(16:49):
local volunteers, and online communities mobilized. Still no trace of Stephanie,
no belongings, no confirmed sightings, and no sign of TRUP
truck's struggle was ever found. A dedicated website, teen Stephanie
Do Fororg was launched by supporters and as weeks passed.

(17:11):
The law enforcement released updated photos and including one from
the summer of twenty twenty four of Stephanie That picture
right there almost with the flower tucked in her hair,
in hopes it might jog someone's memory. Now there are
no confirmed witnesses beyond family. A car was reportedly heard

(17:35):
passing the house shortly after Stephanie left, raising the possibility
of a pickup, but no evidence of contact or abduction
has been confirmed. Stephanie didn't have a phone, not surprising
these people adopt the grid, and her social media presence
was non existent. While some speculate that the secluded lifestyle

(17:57):
may have hidden warning signs, there's there's been no public
accusation of wrongdoing by family or others close to her.
The case remains active, but unfortunately the trail has gone cold.
In December twenty twenty four, the FBI announced a fifteen

(18:17):
thousand dollars reward for credible information leading to Stephane's return
or an arrest in her disappearance. The dan Round family
has remained mostly private, but the great aunt Jerry has
become a key voice advocating for Stephaney online. A visual

(18:38):
was held in December twenty twenty four at a local
Baptist church, and posters of Stephanie now hang across northern
Maine in parts of New England with the message keep
your eyes open. In the months following, public discourse about
our case grew rapidly, particularly on social media platforms and

(18:59):
true forms well. Much of the focus has remained on
efforts to find Stephanie. A wave of online scrutiny has
emerged around the damir and families lifestyle, their background and
handling of the case. This is no surprise, I mean
the true crime forums do this with literally everybody always,

(19:22):
whether they live in a ur in Maine or not.
The speculation and commentary online highlight the challenges faced by
families of missing persons, particularly when their life style falls
outside mainstream warms. While public interests can help elevate a case,

(19:42):
it can also bring harmful assumptions and distract from the facts.
As of now, Stephanie Dameron remains missing and the official
position of law enforcement is that foul play has not
been rolled out, but neither has possibility of voluntary disappearance

(20:03):
or a tragic accident in the forest. Stephanie has now
been missing for over nine months, so sad. If you
have any information, no matter how significant it may seem,
please call the Main State Police A two oh seven

(20:24):
