Hello lovelies, if you're watching this, Happy Monday. I hope

I am Terry True Crime and welcome to Midday Missing,
where we highlight current missing person cases need more attention.
We stream shows every Monday and Wednesday at noon Central.
(01:06):
Now I am pre recording this just in case I'm
not able to go live on Monday since I will
be traveling to LA So just wanted to let you
guys know that upfront. But let's get into today's cases now.
(01:26):
First up, guys, we have Chelsea Michelle Cobo, who was
born November eighth, nineteen ninety three in New York. Now,
there's not a ton of stuff online about her early life,
but we do know that Chelsea was adopted by her
biological aunt when she was a toddler. Now, Chelsea was
(01:50):
still very close to her adopted mother, but also had
a good relationship with her biological mom, so basically she
had a close relationship with both. Now, Chelsea was said
to be friendly but was on the quiet side, unlike me. Now,
she did welcome a baby boy in twenty fifteen and
(02:12):
lived at home with her adopted mom and her son,
who she was raising as a single mother. Now, in
twenty sixteen, life took a dark turn for Chelsea when
her biological mom passed away. Chelsea took the death of
her biological mom very hard, and she sunk into a
(02:34):
deep depression. Now, wanting to get her mind straight, Chelsea
checked into the Coney Island Psychiatric Hospital. She would spent
two weeks in the hospital, where she was diagnosed with
bipolar depression and continued with outpatient treatment. First thing I
have to say is Chelsea, amazing that you realize you
(02:56):
needed help and you took the steps to get help. Now,
Chelsea's family noticed a huge change in her behavior and
personality upon her return, and not in a good way.
Chelsea had suddenly turned into an extrovert and was always
going on and on texting and calling people, which was
(03:20):
a huge difference from her homebody personality before entering the hospital,
so it was not a good change for her. Now,
her adopted mom discovered that Chelsea had befriended her roommate
from the hospital along with her roommate's boyfriend. Chelsea admitted
(03:40):
to dabbling in drugs, which was a huge shock for
the family because Chelsea was someone who had never shown
interest in drugs. A few weeks later, Chelsea came home
in the early morning stumbling and bruised. God, that is
so scary now. Chelsea could not remember what happened or
(04:03):
where she had been. Her mom was very concerned and
took her to the hospital. At the hospital, sadly, it
was confirmed that Chelsea had been drugged, robbed, and sexually assaulted. Guys,
my heart just hurts for Chelsea. This event helped lee
(04:24):
Chelsea to deciding she needed more help. Her mom dropped
her off at the nearby hospital, where a van picked
up Chelsea to take her to the rehab facility about
an hour away. Upon arriving at the facility, Chelsea checked
herself out and is said to have reached out to
her old roommate had become her friend from that psychiatric hospital, who,
(04:48):
along with her boyfriend, picked her up. After learning this,
Chelsea's mom was very concerned and tried everything she could
to find her daughter. After not being able to locate her,
the police were called and she was reported missing. During
the investigation, it was discovered that Chelsea had been texting friends.
(05:13):
Sorry texting friends during the drive to the rehab facility.
Trying to score drugs. Guys, this is not in common, okay.
Drug addiction is an evil, evil disease. Sadly, as we
have heard before, law enforcement does not seem to take
(05:35):
a missing person's case serious. So Chelsea's mom worked non
stop trying to find her daughter. Once please started tracking
her movements on the day she checked out, they discovered
that Chelsea had been seen at a club and that
she had left around one forty five in the morning
(05:56):
with the man. Now May six, sixteen's the last day
that Chelsea Michelle Cobo was seen. Her mom, Rose continues
to search for answers to her daughter's disappearance. Everyone, Chelsea
is not just a person who is struggling with addiction.
She's also a daughter and a mother. If you have
(06:20):
any information regarding the disappearance of Chelsea Michelle Cobo, please
please contact the New York Police Department at two one
two six nine four seven seven eight one. Oh, guys,
this case just it's hard, Okay, Just going to be honest,
(06:44):
it's a hard one. Now, if you know of or

this next case is a little different. However, it is
a case that has a family still seeking to find
their left one. On August eighteenth, nineteen ninety three, twelve
(07:32):
year old Sarah Annwood vanished while riding her bicycle home
from Norwich Corners Church in Sashchwat, New York. I think
I said that right less than half a mile from
her home. She disappeared without a trace. Sarah was born
on March fourth, nineteen eighty one. She was the youngest
(07:55):
of three children. She was the daughter of Robert and
Francis Wood. Now. Her dad was the pastor of Norwich
Corners Presbyterian Church and Sarah loved dancing, poetry, and Dolly
Parton songs. Well, I'm a huge Dolly fan, so I
can say Sarah had excellent taste in music even at
(08:16):
a young age. Now friends and teachers remembered her as
a bright, happy, always giggling little girl, and she was
someone who could light up the room Now, on that
August morning, Sarah had gone to vacation Bible School at
her father's church. She was in a cheerful mood, singing
(08:36):
nine to five as she hopped on her bike and
called out to her brother see you later. Around two
thirty pm, she was last seeing pushing her bike up
Hackadam Road, less than half a mile from home. Guys,
I have to tell you I love everything about Sarah
singing nine to five and going to vacation Bible School.
(08:59):
I mean I was raised Catholic. That my aunt Hallie,
who I would go to stay with in Galveston for
a bit every summer or summer, always sent me to
vacation Bobble School at her church. And I loved every
second of it. And I have some great memories. Now,
Sarah was last seen wearing a pink T shirt with
(09:20):
guests who on the front, turquoise shorts, brown sandals, and
her prescription glasses. Sadly, she never made it home. Within hours,
her family knew something was terribly wrong. A search began
almost immediately. Her bicycle was found leaning against a tree
(09:43):
in nearby Her coloring book and crayons were hidden in
the brush. Place Quickly determined that she had been abducted.
Hundreds of troopers, firefighters, and volunteers scored the area. The
community till ribbons, printed missing flyers, and raised a reward
(10:04):
that grew to more than one hundred and fifty thousand dollars.
Her case was featured on forty eight Hours and America's
Most Wanted, but despite the massive search, Sarah was never found.
Three years later, in nineteen ninety six, investigators finally got
a break. A Massachusetts janitor named Louis Stephen Lyn Junior
(10:30):
had been arrested for attempting to abduct another twelve year
old girl. Evidence tied him to other child abductions, and
under questioning, he confessed to killing Sarah as well as
murdering twelve year old James Bernardo in nineteen ninety Lent
claimed he abducted Sarah at knife point, took her to
(10:53):
the Adirondack Mountains, and killed her near Raquette Lake. Even
drew a map, but despite weeks of searching with troopers,
stocks and volunteers, Sarah's body has never been recovered. Lent
was sentenced to life in prison for Bernardo's murder in
(11:14):
twenty five years to life for Sarah's to this day,
his refuse to exactly reveal where Sarah is buried. Out
of this tragedy, Sarah's family built something lasting. Okay, they
took their pain and their hurt, and they funneled it
(11:37):
into something good. They founded the Sarah Ann Wood Rescue Center,
which later became part of the National Center for Missing
and Exploited Children. Their work has helped recover thousands of
children across the country, and every year, cyclists in Upstate
New York ride in Sarah's honor and the Ride for
(12:00):
Missing Children, wearing her favorite colors of teal and pink.
I love that it's now been more than thirty years
since Sarah disappeared, and still her body has never been found,
and her family continues to hope for answers that lead
to her remains and the chance to lay her to rest.
(12:27):
In the years since her abduction, reports of child abduction
in New York's have decreased significantly. Sarah Ann Wood's case
stands as both a tragedy and a call to action,
reminding us the importance of protecting children and supporting families
who live with unanswered questions. If you have any information
(12:53):
about Sarah Ann Woods, please contact the New York State
Police at three three six six six thousand. Her family
has found justice of the courts, but has not had
the closure that they so dearly desire, and that is
(13:13):
to lay their suitet Sarah to rest properly. Guys, that's heartbreaking.
