Delphi, Indiana, two best friends, Abigail Williams and Liberty German, decided
to spend their day off from schoolexploring the local trails near the Monoon high

leaving their community devastated and in fear. That After the girls were dropped off
at the trailhead by Liberty's older sister, Kelsey German, they plan to enjoy

June twenty third of two thousand andthree. Her mom, Anna Williams.

She was an only child. Abbigail, affectionately known as Abby, was a

bright and creative thirteen year old.She was a seventh grader at Delphi Community
Middle School. Abby was involved invarious activities, including band where she played
the saxophone, and she loved todraw and paint. She had a close
bond with her mother, Anna,and enjoyed spending time with her friends and

participating in outdoor activities. Now Liberty, Liberty rose Lynne German is her full
name. She was born December twentyseven of two thousand and two. Her
parents are Derek and Carrie Derek Germanand Carrie Timmis, and she also was

have siblings. She had Kelsey,which was her older sister, along with
a half sibling from her parents otherrelationship. Liberty was known as Libby.
She was fourteen years old and alsoa student at Delphi Community Middle School.

She was known for her outgoing andcompassionate nature. Libby was active in sports,
playing volleyball, and she was amember of the school band, where
she played the saxophone alongside Abbey.Libby was tech savvy and enjoyed spending time
on social media and with her friends. She was especially close to her sister,

Kelsey and her grandparents, who playeda significant role in her upbringing.
The discovery of the girl's body wasa devastating blow to the Delphie community.
The investigation into their death quickly intensified, and a critical piece of evidence came
to light. Liberty German displayed remarkablepresence of mind, had recorded audio and

video on her own phone before herdeath. The recording captured the voice of
a man saying down the hill,and a brief video clip showed it an
identified man walking towards the girls onthe bridge. This evidence was released to

David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three).
