Speaker 1 (00:00):
That's me chilling in the most dangerous food in the
Dominican Republic. La Corenta eat does Most people come to
hoods like this one looking for guns, drugs, prostitutes, chillers
and poverty. But today I'm on the hunt for three
different things. Good vibes, good people, and a good ass
time from.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
The Dominican Republic. I'm here with Joe.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Now, what it up? Everyone?
Speaker 2 (00:21):
We're out here aheaded to Cornas forty two. The hood?
Is it really the hood? I'm getting ahead of myself.
Speaker 4 (00:27):
Man La GUARDENTI doo the trenches A hunto Domingo. We're
gonna go check it out for ourselves that he is
really as bad as everybody says. It's gonna be gonna
be a completely different vibe than where we are right now.
Right now, we're in the center of the city. This
is more of the upscale neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
As you can tell.
Speaker 4 (00:39):
They have ikea that's a chop them all right there.
People hearing Dominican Republic will not do what we're doing
right now. No, hell no, because they say that it's dangerous.
But here instead of guns.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
They have my chickens, cut my neck clean.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
We're definitely gonna get looks. I'm not bringing my wallet.
I'll take whatever cash I need.
Speaker 2 (00:56):
With the cameras got out fat Do we want to
bring that?
Speaker 3 (00:59):
Do we want to test it out? Does he want
to test it?
Speaker 4 (01:00):
Don't get that that shifting the road quality.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
We went from paved road to straight dirt.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
After picking up our local guide in Guardian Angel Juan,
it was time to enter what is supposedly the most
dangerous hood in the Dominican Republic.
Speaker 5 (01:16):
Hey, what's up? What's up, Juan, I'm from ny tours
o places tourists do not usually come to.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
I take them there. A lot of people love to
come and visit, and I got to see a.
Speaker 5 (01:25):
Lot of people probably drinking, a lot of people playing,
a lot of people doing all kind of stuff. I
will say that you could come whatever you want in
the dre you just got to be conscious of where.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
What you have when you.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
I wouldn't recommend you to go everywhere without having a
local with you. You could do it if you want to,
but you would have to probably not have valuable things
on you. That's all the guy was with meeting today.
He is one of the one of the boss that's
in the place and he constrals the area.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
So it's like the mayor the king. There you go,
he's sipping while motorcycling chorus. That's where it comes with
a matter of fact, So is.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
That why they're driving is a little bit questionable. I here, probably.
Speaker 5 (02:06):
It's his interest in the twenty two street from there.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Now me, she went went straight for this heels like
Quarente does.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
And you know these people on these homies or what
one of them that I know introduced me.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
To the rest of them. This is starting for in there
right now. This is the bus around this area.
Speaker 6 (02:27):
That's how don't get I'm you don't get out out,

I'm feeling great. We're gonna happen one of the motorcycles.
How you yes going.
Speaker 7 (02:50):

Speaker 3 (02:54):

the castle, so on the record.
Speaker 8 (03:46):

Speaker 3 (03:47):

Speaker 8 (03:49):
Okay, I'm your hand in the national Okay, having in
(04:12):
make you all that international?
Speaker 1 (04:19):
What's something people misunderstand about CORIENTI does.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Don't say you'll never be here? Is the boss?
Speaker 9 (04:25):
You guy?
Speaker 3 (04:29):
You know?
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Okay, we're in the studio. That very nice.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
How people came out, you got the bottles over and
they got the president.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
All right.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
So then boys music originally from the d R is
some mix of hip hop rap and things like that.
But we made our own thing from everything. This is
where they've been making this type of music. And a
lot of artists, like famous artists call me here you
know what.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
You don't know what that was?
Speaker 5 (04:58):
And then look at that from for.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Persona, no as me pegros.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
If an average creamer came in here with you without Tonio,
how the experience? Okay, okay, let's site the fact that
showing up here with the camera as an ethnically ambiguous
(05:33):
caucasianoid from America with a fanny pack full of cash
is not a good idea on paper. The hospitality and
vibes out here was nothing like you'd see strolling through
the trenches of Saint Louis.
Speaker 2 (05:50):
What do people do for work here?
Speaker 5 (05:52):
A lot of people from these areas are leave the
day by day. People that sell things on the streets.
I don't know if you've noticed these pickups that are
selling plants, tomatoes, whatever they find.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
That will seldom that.
Speaker 5 (06:03):
We're heading towards Ozama River, that's one of the most
important rivers in something of the Mingo area. Yeah, Dominicans
are very approachable. Dominicans are usually saying Hi, slay're.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Okay, must okay us call us to be that ye.
Speaker 3 (06:26):
My people raising.
Speaker 2 (06:28):
My game, you know, coming down.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
Okay, smells yeah, smells yeah, gonna be.
Speaker 9 (06:49):
Said.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
I don't know, went through the border of Mexico. Okay.
Speaker 9 (06:56):
If anyone watching wants to be a father, then they
come down and step mother like a very nice we're
walking through.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
We're getting the invites into the house. You wouldn't see
that in the States.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
By the way, this community has proved my point what
I told you earlier. Esthetically, it may not be the
nicest stuff, but as far as community, you see people
sitting outside in the States, I live in the upscale
neighborhood and you don't see people sitting outside. And this
is supposed to be like dangerous stuff, but you see
people coming out here, talking, cooking as running outside. The
cords here are a place for people to come. Is
where you watch sports, was where you drink beer. It's
like a gathering point and they have them all throughout.
(07:25):
Whether it's an upscale community, it doesn't matter. Here miles
are a place for community to meet up. Here you
can find everything. It's like a mini grocery store.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
As you can tell. The kids are out here playing
the gaming with something the tablet. And if it's so dangerous,
how these kids out here?
Speaker 9 (07:37):
True?
Speaker 1 (07:38):
Right?
Speaker 3 (08:09):
And mao.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
D real quick.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
You might be wondering how I stay connected online when
I go to foreign countries across the world, like right
now in the Dominican Republic. I remember when I was nineteen,
I took my first trip abroad by myself to Italy
and I had no cell service, no data and I
had to hunt down a physical SIM card across Rome
without navigation because I had no data. It was hell
and I wish I was better prepared. Now I just
(08:33):
use eSIMs, like the sponsor of this video. Sale It's

Speaker 8 (09:48):
So hold on.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
I've noticed I haven't seen a single homeless person as
you might see him in the United States.
Speaker 5 (09:52):
Dominicans are people that are like family oriented, and whenever
something happens to a family member, it is more probable
of a person taking them into the house than having
them on the streets. They are from the people, but
I don't think it's as much as in the United
They are like everywhere. No, no, there are probably some
(10:14):
of that he's dancing.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
That's that collection.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
Unfortunately, the people that live around here do not have
access to a main road. Unfortunately have this littering issue
because the.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Chat shucks can know where to put it exactly.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Tony puttings taking us to the pools here, taking bats
in here in this water.
Speaker 2 (10:40):

to that?
Speaker 3 (10:53):

in quarte? Does don't in n y? Should I jump in?
It's you're right, I'm gonna jove. Okay, that's good. Were
(11:23):

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Las Ninius ben Vandos acquented US.
Speaker 7 (11:35):
Americano s l A.
Speaker 1 (11:45):
Alright, we have a sack one right here, Dingo congetto
place Semino.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
I want to wow the love out here. You see
esto them what I'm saying? Money alright, waiting.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
We definitely overpaid volume thousand, but plans hands for the
whole village.
Speaker 2 (12:23):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
That's about for those that don't know.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Right now the conversion rates for one dollar, it's sixty Dominican.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Pays you pay how much?
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Two hundred paces and beat dollars kids, so all the
kids get to eat. No, they're happymanct all right, that's
a window. Nice again.
Speaker 3 (12:39):
I'm out here, don't.
Speaker 5 (12:41):
Yeah, yeah, we gotta get out of here.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Bus even that, no right, no bus even a gona go.
Now everyone's asked for money. We got paying out two
three asking for a game boy. You don't have to, okay,
what's about to go down?
Speaker 5 (12:52):
It's about to go down for ross or something right
now like some games. Something we gotta lead for sure
now to us today.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
So we were told to dip because something dangerous went down.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
They kept it vague.
Speaker 5 (13:12):
Something was about happen because they know you here. They
didn't make it clear what was gonna happen, but they
are just saying that something could happen for us.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
So someone's plotting like a robbery of us.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
So we're getting an escort out of here. One of
our boys helping us.
Speaker 5 (13:29):
Ubino tours are the dot com narrowly avoiding getting robbed.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
My next stop was so Soon, a coastal town known
for beautiful beaches and sex tourism.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
In fact, to this town and.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Many other poor coastal towns like it here and made
the d R an attractive destination for people all over
the world looking to buy sex. I pulled up to
see if the reputation that reality and why the ladies
were out here work in the streets. Real quick YouTube
does not like it when I talked to prostitutes and
watch the full interviews with these girls. Go subscribe to

Back to the video if.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
You would have come to Dominican Republic fifteen twenty years
ago and see what Dominican Republic is today. You wouldn't
believe like what you see in front of your eyes today.
So when they come back to dr whether it's from
Europe or the US, they're in complete shock. And I
know because of the comments that I get, people are like, wait,
that's Dominican Republic. That's not the Dominican Republic that I remember,
because Dominican Republic used to be like this, no power,
no water, it was extremely rule. A lot of Dominicans
(14:37):
are coming back. They see that there are opportunities here
that weren't that weren't available about twenty years ago when
they left.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
What do you think The biggest reason for that.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
Is foreign investments of another tours and that's blooming is
of real estate tourism and vound of foreigners that are
investing here in Dominican Republic. A lot of those projects,
that Blue Mall was actually designed by Venezuelan So a
lot of the malls, you have a lot of people
from Venezuela that left Venezuela because of the social unrest,
because of the economic state, have come to Dominican Republic
and have invested a lot of money in these projects.
(15:06):
We're coming up to a really nice view. This is
kind of like the peak of the mountain. As you
can tell, it's gotten much cooler up here. See and
this is this is an example. Here we're in the
middle of nowhere, but look how nice a little restaurants are.
Entrepreneurship is live here. We are literally right now, in
the middle of nowhere.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
As night approached and as we drove to the capital
city of Santo Domingo, I was surprised to see some
insanely bougie malls, stores, cars and hotels. We got the
Many back, we got the Mercedes bench, we got the
Louis Bataon.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
This reminds me of the Vegas Ship. It's that movie.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
Who would have thought a couple hours ago we were
in the hood. Now we got Louis Bauton, we got Tudor,
we got mom Blanc. We got money out here. I'm
not sure where the money is from twenty thirty minutes away.
Quarn't thirty dos right here? You can buy a robust Okay,
we're going to the food festival right now. We saw
a ton of cars coming back into Santo Domingo. What's happening?
Speaker 4 (15:52):
One thing about here in dr that I love is
the work live balance. Like I mentioned earlier, Santo Domingo
is a hectic city. But one thing that people do
here Friday after the work they go to the beach,
they go to the mountains. And as you can see
right now, it's seven twenty in the evening, people are
coming back home, get ready for the work week.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
And then tomorrow the chaos ensues with the traffic. Here's
not flamingo. Okay.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
Another thing, Look at these parking attendances. These are parking
attendants right here. See how they're trying to see. These
guys don't have any permits for any of this, right,
they want to give you a parking spot.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
They don't have permits.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
It's not their business, right, But you still have to
tip them, sure, right, and they get pissed if you
don't tip them.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Why do the people drive so crazy out here?
Speaker 4 (16:26):
I mean, look at this, Look at the movies, Look
look at the look.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
At that moment.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Yes, so the use of space is highly efficient here, right.
You don't see any inches unused on the roads. Look
at how tight we are. Would you say the dr
right now is developing or third world?
Speaker 4 (16:37):
It's developing, The IMF said if I'm mistaken by twenty
thirty two or twenty thirty six, quote me on that
if Dominican Republics continues at the pace that it is,
it'll be considered a first world country.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
WHOA, that's big right for the Caribbean. And compared to Haiti.
Oh night and day difference.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Day it's night and day.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
I mean Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Amosphere.
Earlier this year, Dominican Republic got ranked the number one
place for mental health and.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Happiness in the world.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
This is the largest food festival in all of Dominican Republic.
You have thirty of the best restaurants here and it's
it's it's an experience that if you come to Dominican
Republic and this event's going on, you.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Have to come here.
Speaker 4 (17:10):
The first thing is people think that this place is dangerous.
As someone who came from the States, I don't see
this on a Sunday. We've been driving around the city.
You've seen people outside, You've seen people sitting outside the
put the models. You've seen kids running around being kids,
things that you don't.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
See in the States. In today's day and age. They
say that in.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Dominican Republic you can't go out with your cell phones,
you can't do your things.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
And look at us right now with recordings.
Speaker 4 (17:34):
We have our mics on and as you can tell
one thing about Dominican Republic, it's very family oriented. Notice
how many kids here are on their phones, are on tablets.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
I want you to observe.
Speaker 4 (17:44):
And that's why I always say money doesn't buy happiness
and living in Dominican Republic. It's proven to me because
people that have nothing, no water, no power, none of
those things are happier than maybe you and I that
make a shitload of money. Sure, some poms on our
handsdayswantoe home an element.
Speaker 11 (17:59):
Go yo.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
He's making seventy five bucks an hour pretty much. Can
you ask him if he thinks it's easy or hard
to be an entrepreneur here in the d R.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
What do you think the limiting factor, like getting out
of the mud out here is the slily going prendy.
We have a free market here, we have low regulations,
and we have guys like him who are tenacious.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
And they're doing it the legal way.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
He has his permits, he's paying his fees and he's
not making millions dollars.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
But if you noticed three hundred bucks in a day
is not bad.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
Yeah, he's making ten grand a month. Al ust how
much do you make a month?
Speaker 3 (18:47):
Man? You milam on miel, I know, let's have a
grand yang already if you havena.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Okay, I think.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
It's about like eighty ninety bucks. You know, here's your mom.
Speaker 9 (19:03):
Would you ever take your business to the United States?
Or is it better to run a business here in
d R he's jammy don't and last statusnedos you don't
go for me down the room boot us on Dominicans. Now, okay,
there's a perceived sense of safety in the States that
you have and maybe you don't have here.
Speaker 4 (19:22):
No, I think it's vice versa. Over there, I feel
more threatened than I do here. Always over there, I
don't feel safe going to a shopping center. I don't
feel shafe going to a concert because mats shooting is
a thing over there. There's never been a mass shooting here.
The worst that's gonna happen here is they're gonna take
your wallet and your cell phone and you're gonna get
on your way right if you year robbed. I send
my daughters to school with a peace of mind. Every
single day. I don't have to worry about some crazy
(19:42):
person walking in there with an ar and shooting it up.
Speaker 3 (19:45):
Kids are learning values.
Speaker 4 (19:46):
They're not, you know, being pushed certain agendas that they
are Back in the States.
Speaker 1 (19:50):
People are eating their third fourth meal, hanging out with
the family, vibing social right above the supermarket. So oh what, oh, yes, yes, God, yes,
trying to lose my cigar virginity.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
All right, hey, you don't swallow this.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
You've shown us all around this country. Where can the
people find you stay informed on everything Dominican Republic and
all your ventures?
Speaker 3 (20:24):
Check me out on Instagram and YouTube. Jay gives Back.
Speaker 4 (20:27):
We're out here showing a different side of the Dominican Republic.
I want to thank you for taking the time coming
out here seeing like n checking out the progress and
what the Dominican Republic has improved on
