Speaker 1 (00:13):
Welcome to the Unreligious Podcast, where we spread the love
of Jesus without judgment or by laws, focusing solely on
Jesus Christ and the Bible. I am Big Drewski. Chris,
who normally does the intro, couldn't make it tonight, and
so I'm having to fly solo on this one. Also,
(00:33):
I want to go ahead and apologize in advance as well.
I'm having to use my my whatever they're called, my
beats audio, not my usual mic, which i'll explain just
spiritual warfare man. It's it's it's a real thing. But
I'll explain that here in a minute. But so again,
(00:56):
Chris couldn't make it tonight. He he actually chipped his
like a week or two is back, had to have
a dental procedure that you know, his tooth was cutting
into his gums and all that stuff. So I'm kind
of flying solo tonight. We'll be back on the regular schedule.
Should be next episode. But this is episode number I
(01:20):
believe twenty seven, the resurrection episode. This is a big one,
you know, the resurrection episode. You know we're diving into
basically the moment that really changes everything. I mean, with
no resurrection there's no faith, no Christianity. Christianity is just
(01:40):
basically another religion, like without the resurrection. Dude, there's I
mean nothing really like it's that's that's what makes Christianity
what it is. But if you're new to the podcast,
if you have any questions, well, first off, welcome, But
if you have any questions, feedback, or you want us
(02:01):
to cover specific topics something like that, feel free to
email us The Unreligious Podcast at gmail dot com. While
you're at it. Also show some love, like subscribe, share
this with somebody that needs some encouragement. Also, we're trying
to get ranked, so be sure to leave us a
review that helps us more than you guys know, I
(02:24):
don't even care for ranked dead last. We just want
to be ranked on the podcast things. That way we
can kind of know sort of where we're at. And
also we've got YouTube, Instagram, just look up the Unreligious Podcast.
We have a TikTok, but I don't really use it
that much, to be honest, we don't use the Instagram
that much either. Facebook's probably better. I do have big
(02:44):
news though we are we had a massive swing and
listens over the past week or so. I don't know
if we've got new listeners, that's burning it down. I
don't know if you guys are sharing it whatever, but
for what reason, we had just a big, big swing
(03:05):
in views. And so what we're gonna do, and let
me see if I can pull this up real quick too,
But what we're gonna do is we're gonna to celebrate that.
We're gonna run a limited time, limited edition set of merch. Now, again,
we've talked about this before, but we don't really make
that much money off the march, you know, it's literally
(03:28):
just to help basically just you know, promote things or whatever.
It's not like a money making thing for us. But
limited time we have. First off, we do have some
new merch and we're only really promoting this on the
podcast because we don't want to promote you guys. But
(03:48):
we have a limited edition design that's called the first
five hundred design. What that is is me those of
you that's watching this on YouTube can kind of see.
But on the front of it you have a alternate,
really cool, sleek looking unreligious podcast logo, which is pretty nice.
We've got some different colors and stuff like that, and
(04:10):
then on the back it has a limited edition I
was one of the first five hundred followers hoodie and
me and Chris don't put our faces on stuff often,
but it's actually got our faces and it says we
were the first. But we are really close to five
hundred listens. Actually, as a matter of fact, by the
(04:31):
time this episode drops, we're probably gonna be at five
hundred listens. But we are running this limited edition line
of merch. We've got hoodies, we've got AirPods, cases, we've
got stickers, sweaters, I believe, We've got some metal signs
(04:51):
pretty cool. We got coffee mugs, and then we also
have some new designs on the store too, if you
guys have not seen that. Again, we're not putting us
out on Facebook a whole whole lot. This hoodie right
here is really cool. It's unreligious all over print, unreligious
podcasts on the front, Jesus on the back. Pretty sweet.
We got some tumblers, all kinds of stuff. But this
(05:13):
limited edition merch Okay is only going to run on
the first five hundred design that is only going to
run until June first. After June first, it's gonna go
away forever. You guys will not be able to obtain
this design, maybe we'll do another one for you know,
(05:34):
the first five thousand or something. But if you want
to be able to say, hey, look, I can prove
that I was one of the first five hundred followers,
you have that opportunity to do that with that extra merch.
There is a link in the description as well, so
feel free to check that out. But yeah, that is
something that's really cool. Just to catch you guys up,
(05:56):
Me and Chris always do kind of catch up on
the week. Niko know, Iam Maliava. Iam Maliava, the Balls
quarterback abandoned the team in the middle of the night,
just like Lane Kiffin did back in the day. If
you're a college football fan, you know it's been all
over the place, so you know, that was a big
one for me. But you know, it just really cemented
(06:17):
the fact that I think college football is kind of dead.
You know, you got college football players holding out for
contract extensions and all this stuff, and it's, uh, it
was just really disappointing, man, because it was like, dude,
you know, if some IF player doesn't want to stay,
that's fine. I can live with that. As I'm cracking
open my Coca Cola zero. If player don't want to stay.
(06:41):
That's fine. I can live with that. But it's like, dude,
you know, I just I don't know. But he you
know which if you don't know anything about college football,
he was the starting quarterback for the Balls, which the
the players can actually make money now, that's the thing.
So some of you guys may have men unknown that,
but the college players can actual try to make more
or they can make money now. But he was trying
(07:03):
to hold out to make more money. It ended up
backfire because now he's going to go to a terrible
team and you know whatever, it's I guess that's karma.
But snack Man hit me again, which was which was
so nice, so needed, which those of you that's listened
to the podcast, for snack Man is just the guy
that I basically work with that literally hits me up
with snacks from time to time. But every time he
(07:25):
hits me, it's just at the absolute best time possible.
So that was pretty cool for me. My god moment
was not only the fact that I ended up getting
a pretty decent tax return this year, but the craziest
thing is is not only did this tax return, it
was enough to actually help me pay some bills and
(07:48):
do things I needed to do. But also I got
this tax return back in seven days, dude, which is like,
I don't think I've ever got a tax return in
seven days. Have you guys ever got a tax turning
that quick? Or am I tripping? Because I feel like
seven days insane. Literally went on a Saturday to get
my tax return done, and then by the following Saturday
(08:10):
that money was in my account. I mean, just insane.
Like I said, I've never gotten one that quick. So
I was blown away by that. But it was just
nice because you know, I've been wearing my prayer journal
out here lately, and I've been writing basically that, you know,
I'm just praying that God will bless our finances and
(08:31):
if he, you know, if it's like I want to
turn my finances over to God because I know that,
you know, that's like one area where I think all
of us struggle at least a little bit, is actually
trusting God with our finances. So I wanted to make
it a point to turn that over fully, you know.
And so I you know, I've been and He's really
(08:56):
blessed some other things too. I mean, I can't really
tell the person's name, but a buddy mine was praying
that a close friend to his be you know, basically,
he wasn't doing good. He was essentially on life support,
wasn't looking good, really bleak, and just every day. Man,
I was just basically praying, like, God, if it's your will,
please miraculously hell this guy in a way that only
(09:18):
you can get credit, you know. And even the doctors
were like, yeah, it's not looking good and this and that,
and then he was able to make him one to
eighty get back on his feet, and you know, just
I mean, just the way it happened was pretty much miraculous.
And it wasn't like just because my prayer, because it
was like we had a bunch of people praying. But
just there's so much stuff, and I'm trying to take
(09:40):
my prayer journal and I'm trying to go back through
and highlight the things this God's doing. And it feels
like it's been fifty to fifty here lately. But literally,
I've been praying that God would anoint my finances and
it's like I've had some things happen. I've had some
side gigs start happen to where it's been able to
help me make a little bit of extra money. But
then getting my actually turned back and I got a
(10:01):
little bit more than I thought I was going to,
and then you know, the tax trunk come back in
seven days, and I just was like, dude, I've never
had one come back that quick. And it's just it's
crazy how it's like when you start actually living for
God and just thanking for the good, trusting him in
the bad, and everything is just crazy how God works.
(10:22):
But you know, but like I said, I've been wearing
the prayer journal out. I definitely encourage you guys, if
you don't have a prayer journal to start one. I
had a pretty funny moment too with my taxes, which
you know, it wasn't funny at the time, but I
drove all the way out there with the wrong laptop,
(10:43):
which was like, I live like thirty minutes away from
where I was doing my taxes or whatever. So I
drove all the way out there, and I had a
video gig after that, which again, those video gigs have
been blessing me. People's like paying me to do their
video stuff for him and it's awesome. But so I
grabbed the wrong laptop. All my tax stuff was on
(11:05):
this other laptop. Drove thirty minutes to get out there,
and then I sit down to do it and I'm like, crap,
I don't have the right laptop. So I called my wife.
Sure enough, she doesn't have a clue, like how you know,
to get to what I'm trying to get her to
get to and how to you know. It's just it
was a mess, and so I ended up having to
drive all the way back and I'm sitting there my
tax lady staring at me and she's like, well, you know,
(11:27):
do you have the number. I'm like, listen, I don't
have nothing. Okay, it was all on that laptop. So
she's like, well, you can come back, but I have
to work you in. So I drove all the way
back thirty minutes, got the laptop, and when I walked in,
my wife was like profusely apologizing and you know, and
I was a little short with her on the phone.
I didn't feel like I was necessarily rude, but I
(11:48):
was a little bit short with her, and she was
kind of apologizing, and I just came in. I sat
down and I got the laptop up and I was
testing it and I was like, look, it's not your fault.
It was my fault. I grabbed the wrong lane up talk.
You know, I needed that laptop to work, but you know,
it's not your fault. You don't know how to work it.
(12:10):
You know, the spreadsheets and stuff that I needed, and
none of that was your fault. I just, you know,
because she was gonna drive it out and meet me somewhere,
and I said, look, I had to test it myself
to make sure it was working. Otherwise there's no point
you driving out here. And so in that moment, the
whole you know, situation completely de escalated. But it was
just like you know, at the time, it was like
(12:31):
stressful because you know, I didn't know if I was
gonna have to reschedule, and of course it was like
two weeks or something before the deadline and stuff. But
you know, in that moment, though, I was able to
calm myself and just be like, look, you know that
none of this was your fault. This was my fault.
I don't blame you. I'm not mad at you or nothing.
(12:51):
I'm mad at the situation, but you know, it's whatever.
And so in that moment, she kind of breathed a
sigh of relief and you know, me and Chris talk
a lot about going to church. I'm a part of
a men's Bible study as well, and I talked to
a lot of godly men in my life. But you know,
we talk about those and I wrote it down in
my notes. I wish I had my notes with me
(13:14):
from Sunday, But you know, we talk a lot about
getting rooted, getting involved in men's Bible study and a
prayer group and all this stuff. But in those small
moments where usually I would have blown up and made
a big deal and you know whatever, I recovered and
was able to keep my calm, and in that moment,
(13:36):
I was able to kind of calm everything down. And
I'm not saying I'm perfect, because I'm far from it.
I mean I still lose my cool sometimes and I
could be a little bit more patient at other times
and stuff like that. But you know, surrounding yourself with
godly men who were just there for you, that listen,
that are going through the same stuff that you are
and can actually give you scripture and stuff is incredible.
(13:59):
And in that I realized, like, dude, that's you know,
that's the the whole point, you know, like that's that's
why you're doing this is is it gives you the
ability to to, you know, actually test your faith and stuff.
And I'm gonna talk about some spiritual warfare stuff here
in a minute too, but so getting into you know,
(14:25):
sort of I'm leading into the resurrection episode, but leading
into that. Uh. Palm Sunday was this past Sunday and
had awesome service. Brother Keith brought the fire, dropped a
lot of wisdom on the Tuesday Morning Bible study, the
Men's Bible Study. I woke up puking Wednesday morning with
(14:50):
a just terrible, terrible, terrible migrain and I ended up
sleeping for like half the day and had to sleep
it off. I drove halfway to work and ended up
to call my boss and say, dude, I can't do it.
I'm puking, I'm you know, and I get terrible migraines.
But drove all the way you know, down, like I said,
about halfway and turned around, went home, laid laid down,
(15:13):
and uh, you know, literally slept for half the day
and I don't remember exactly, it was probably three thirty
ish or so. Got up be bopping around. I was
I was exhausted and hungry, and all that, and uh,
you know, I realized, hey, dude, if I end up
getting better in time, I may actually be able to
go to church, which I usually don't ever get to
(15:34):
go to church on Wednesday nights. And you know, that
in and of itself would be a blessing. And so
I ended up, you know, just throughout the day it
was able to nurse myself back a little bit, and
it was about an hour before church, and I looked
at my wife and I said, you know, I think
I'm gonna go to church. Not of course I had
(15:54):
I may even still have it those of you that's looking.
I had particul hemorrhaging like all around my face from
where I was like feke and my guts out, and
she's like, really, are you sure? And I was like yeah.
It was like I think I'm at least okay to go.
And so I looked at my younger my older daughter,
and I said, hey, you want to go to church tonight?
And she loves going to church, which is awesome, And
(16:15):
but you know, we ended up having a better Man's
Bible study, which if you guys have never heard of that,
I highly encourage you to do. To get involved with that.
I actually have my curriculum right here. But better Man
is just a it's a curriculum. It's awesome. Highly recommend it.
But it was just good. We you know, went and
(16:37):
sat around and talked and got to you know, and
we talked about authenticity and we talked about Good Friday
coming up. And there's this when I texted my wife
and I said, hey, look, you know I'm gonna have
to come home or whatever. My head's hurting too bad.
I didn't see it at the time until I was
getting ready for church, but she texted me back as
(16:59):
she said that, Mayrin, which is my five year old,
was like, you know what, mommy, we need to pray
for daddy and pray for his head. And you know,
in that small moment, you know, I realize as imperfect
as I feel, and I know that I am, you know,
in that small moment, I realize, like, dude, I'm doing
(17:22):
something right for my five year old to say, hey,
we need to pray for dad's head. And it was
you know, she kind of checks us sometimes. But you know,
in the Bible study, we were just talking about, you know,
how do you implement God into your life, your marriage,
your household, whatever, if God's not usually there, and it's like, dude,
(17:43):
you know, my answer was authenticity, Like just be yourself
one hundred percent of the time. Don't be churchy in church,
and then you know, quote unquote real in the real world.
Be the same person all the time because your kids
will see that difference. And that was just kind of
a reminder. I feel like of how far that I've came,
(18:05):
and people have asked me before. You know, I carry
my Bible to church, and I've had people ask me like, dude,
there's like a thousand Bible apps. Why don't you just
do the Bible you know, Bible app on your phone?
And you know, when my kids they see my phone
in my hand all the time, but when I'm carrying
(18:26):
my Bible in they know what that is. You know,
when I'm sitting down and I'm physically reading my Bible,
they know what that is. And I'm I was flipping through,
you know, my Bible the other day and it was like,
and I'm one of those I don't know how you
guys feel about it, but I'm one of those. I
think it's perfectly fine to write notes in your Bible.
(18:50):
I encourage it but I know there's some people that
don't like that. But as I'm flipping through my Bible,
it dawned on me, Dude, there's a whole lot of
highlighted parts in here. There's a whole lot of you know,
read underlines, and there's notes in the margins, and it's like,
you know, three or four years ago, it wouldn't have
been like that. And coming into this Easter, this has
(19:11):
been one of the most unique Easters of my life.
The first time I started going back to church was Easter,
and I was hung over. The second time I went
to Easter, you know, we were going pretty regularly, but
it was just Sunday morning thing. And then it was like,
(19:32):
you know, the third Easter. I think this is like
the third or fourth, but you know, the third let's
just say there's a third one in there. Like I said,
I can't keep track of them. But by the third one,
it's like we're doing connection groups and we're rooted and
I'm just a totally different person. And this has been
one of the most emotional easters for me because like,
(19:55):
I'm the closest to God I've ever been to my
walk right now, and the most like attacks that I've
ever been in my life. Right now, I'm good emotional
things about it, but like it's just funny how it's
like when you just try to like live a life
(20:19):
that's pleasing to God. And you know, me and Chris
talk about it all the time, but it's like all
I want to do is when I get to Heaven,
I don't want to be like one of those people
that just barely skips through, like and skins his teeth
on the way in. It's like, when I get there,
I want to hear, you know, well done, my good
(20:42):
and faithful servant. Like I don't want to just be
there because I made it, you know. And it's just
it's one of those things where it's like, you know,
like I said, this is the closest that I've ever
been in my walk, and so this Easter has been
the most emotional that's ever been. But it's like, you know,
on top of that, you know, I'm also the most
(21:05):
attacked that I've ever been. You know. It's like, you know,
never in my life have I had you know, this
many people like talking crap about me behind my back,
and people that you know, used to be close friends
or you know, whatever that's just like, oh, you know,
just it's just it's hard to explain. It's like the
(21:26):
closer you get to him, uh, the harder it becomes.
And I think that that's kind of a compliment. But
you know, me and a close friend of mine, one
of actually well right now is one of my best friends.
I've known him for a long time, but we just
recently started getting closer and talking more. And he's kind
(21:49):
of on his own walk, and you know, and I
prayed about a year ago that you know, God, if
you're gonna if if you want to use me, I
want to be there to disciple men, and I want
to be there to be a lot to those around
me if there's people that are open to that sending
my way. And of course I've had all these these
(22:09):
you know guys stumble into my life here lately, but
you know, he's one that I've known him his whole life,
most of mine, and we're just never really that close.
But here over like the last well since Thanksgiving last year,
the friends list opened up a little bit, uh, and
he kind of worked his way in and now I
(22:31):
basically talk to him every day and we've become really
really good friends. But you know, I was joking the
other day because I go in late on Fridays, and
he said he was going to take off for good Friday.
When I was joking, I said, oh, we're going to
have a Bible study and he's like, oh, well, I
mean I'm open to if you're open to it. I
was like, oh, well, okay, well that's cool me and
(22:52):
I said I'll prepare a little something, you know, and uh,
but I got a little emotional because it was like,
as I was preparing this like lesson if you want
to call it that. It was Thursday night, it was
about eight o'clock ish, and I'm recording this on Easter Sunday.
(23:16):
By the way, I'm actually about to leave when this
episode is over and go hang out with my extended family.
And like I said, i'll get into that story here
in a minute too. But like you know, I was
sitting there preparing this lesson and it was somewhere, you know,
on and off between six o'clock and eight o'clock, eight pm,
and I just remember thinking, you know, he was probably
washing feet right about now of his disciples, knowing good
(23:40):
and well that Judas was going to betray you and
then it was like, you know, they were probably sitting
down about to start getting ready and eating, and you know,
we know that that's the last Supper, but his disciples don't.
He does, Jesus does. And it's like, as I was
sitting down, I was just like, dude, you know, I
(24:02):
was putting myself in the timeline, and I just was like, dude,
you know, like yeah, and then you know, I knew
somewhere around midnight, you know, he was gonna be basically
getting captured and then tortured all throughout the night, and
it was really hard for me to like prep that
lesson or Bible study or whatever you want to call it,
(24:25):
because I was literally just all I could think about.
And then it was like, even as I was laying down,
I had a hard time going to bed because I
was like, dude, you know, he's probably in the Garden
of Gasse himone right now. He's probably praying and his
disciples have done fell asleep once or twice or whatever.
He's crying tears of blood, and it's just like I
was just running through it in my head, and it
was like as soon as I woke up, I looked
(24:47):
at the clock and it was like six am, and
I was like, you know, he's probably going through the
last little bit of trials and stuff. And then you know,
on Friday, I woke up and me and my buddy
was meeting at eight o'clock, and you know, he sat
down in the morning and when he sat down, I said,
you realize, like, you know, like we were talking about
the timeline. I was like, dude, most likely right now
(25:10):
he was he's being led up, you know, to the
to the Illa Galgatha. And it's like, you know, our
Bible study ended at like nine, and I was like,
you realize, like as we're about to leave, he's probably
on the cross. It was just like I just kept
thinking about it, and it's like the closure that I get,
(25:32):
the closure I get in my walk, it's like the
more these things affect me, you know. And it's just
on the last episode, I know, we talked a lot
about we talked about the death of Jesus, and then
today we're going to talk about the resurrection of Jesus.
But it's like, you know, good Friday is should be
(25:55):
called Brutal Friday, right, But it's like the reason why
we call it good though, is because of what happened
at the Cross, you know. And it's like my church
had three services. They had the Saturday night service, which
we went to, you know last night. It's like said,
(26:16):
today's Sunday as I'm recording this, but and it's just
a banger, dude, and it you know, like we went
to the Saturday one that way or Sunday was freed up,
and I had some people that said that they may
or may not visit, so I was kind of like
leaving my schedule open to go back. But you know,
like going to that Saturday episode was or that Saturday
(26:40):
at service was awesome because it was like everybody was
that was there was there because they wanted to be there.
It's not like on Easter Sunday when you have people
that's like, Okay, well this is the one time I'll
go because it's Easter, or their guilt trip by their
mom or their dad or their grandpa or whoever. And
it's like everybody was there wanted to be there, and
(27:01):
it just it was really awesome service. But it was
like as they're singing these songs about you know, death
being defeated and Jesus beating the grave and all this,
it's just it's it's really emotional for me because it's like,
you know, that's it's like that's my god, that's my father,
that's you know, at times fells like your brother, your
(27:24):
best friend, your confidante. You know, it's like, I don't know,
it's just it's it's just a really emotional time, but
it's really happy time. But also as a part of that,
you know, like I said earlier, there's been a lot
of just spiritual warfare with this episode specifically, but even
(27:48):
the last one. You know, me and Chris sat down
we were going to record the Covenant episode before we
recorded the first Easter episode, and we had technical difficulties
and it was like then we record did Easter episode
and you know, it went great, but it was like
I still had some technical difficulties beforehand, and then this
(28:09):
episode so just again letting you behind the curtain, which
you know, it was funny. Me and a co host
of mine that was on a podcast before this. We
always talked about how you should never like let anybody
look behind the fourth wall and talk, you know, just
talk about the episode as if it's dropping the same
day it drops. But you know, me and Chris Prey
will obliterate that role on this one. But like, you know,
(28:31):
so I'm gonna breakdown the fourth wall. But you know,
we recorded that episode like two weeks before it dropped,
you know, and in between that, you know, we had
a two week buffer, and it was like everything that
could happen has essentially happened. I mean, you talked about migraines,
Chris chip to two had to have a you know,
(28:54):
dental surgery. They're still trying to look for houses, which
we'll pray for that here in a second, but you know,
and it's like, coming into this episode, me and Chris
were talking and we realized our schedules wasn't going to
sync up. And I was like, well, well, how do
you want to do it? You know, maybe one of
us could record it, you know, separate or you know,
(29:16):
like what's your thoughts on it? And he was basically like, dude,
you know, with everything going on and the dental stuff
and the house stuff and whatever, and he's like, you
got all the equipment and stuff. He's like, why don't
you just record it and then I'll catch back up,
you know hopefully, you know, And like I said, he's
still recovering for that when we'll pray for that here
in a minute. But it was like I was like,
(29:36):
all right, and then you know, I don't know if
it's Tuesday or Wednesday. Really bad my brain and then
I couldn't end up not being able to do it Thursday,
and then I was going to record it Friday, but
then it was like, you know, my daughter, my youngest daughter,
my new born, was like screaming her head off, and
it was like, you know, we ended up running late,
(30:01):
and then it was like, well, I'll just try to
record it after the Easter service, I guess. And then
my daughter for some reason didn't fall asleep again, and
then it was like ten o'clock and I was too
tired because I'm like when I record this, I want
to be fresh, focused and everything. And it was like
stuff just kept happening and kept happening, kept happening, and
then today's Sunday woke up and I had to run
(30:25):
to the store to get a few things. And the
original plan was going to be my wife and my
daughter was gonna go ahead and leave a little earlier
to go to the Easter celebration or you know, celebration
of my family, and you know, they were gonna go
do that, and then I was gonna record the episode,
and then I had to run to the store to
get a few things, and then it was like got
(30:47):
held up there and then my wife, you know, I'm
not gonna get into too much detail, but you know,
mother nature kicked in and it was like, you know,
then it's like I get home and then were like
rushed around trying to get ready. And then it was
like my daughter, Emma, the youngest one, dropped a little
piece of bacon on the floor and I went to
(31:09):
pick it up. And then when I went to pick
like I literally reached as far as I could to
get it, and then as I was bringing it up,
she like bent over to look, I guess or something.
It was like I accidentally like smacked her on the
cheek and then she fell back and bumped her head,
and so I was like care, you know, I was
holding her, trying to you know, comfort her, and then
it was like I reached over to grab my my
(31:31):
cup that I was you know, I had a coke
zero in it and it was a full cup from
where I went to get breakfast, and then accidentally, just magically,
the cup just like slipped out of my hand and
exploded all over you know, the rug, the floor, the pave,
like everything that we had sitting over here, my ministry documents,
(31:55):
which if you don't know what I'm talking about, go
listen to my My My testimony episode. And it's like,
you know, exploded all over the ministry documents, my laptop,
my camera bag. And now all of a sudden, she's
got a you know, you know, we're wiping this up
and whatever, and we're getting frustrated and it's like and
(32:16):
she's like, well, maybe you can record it later. I'm like, well,
if I push it off, these drop on Monday, and
it's like all this was happening, and the whole time
I was just sitting there thinking, I was like, dude,
it's literally just spiritual warfare, Like that's all this is.
It's literally just the Devil's doing everything he can to
(32:37):
stop this episode. Even before I went to do this episode,
my laptop was freezing up and it never does that,
you know. And there's only been just a few times
that we've had technical difficulties like this, and you know,
one of them was the Christmas episode, and then the
last time was when we did the first Easter episode
(32:59):
and then you know this time was this time, and
so I'm just sitting there like, dude, it's just spiritual warfare,
and I know why the devil tries to fight, But
in my mind, I was still sitting there thinking, dude,
why why this? Like you know, we talk about Jesus
every episode. Everything we do is to try to to
(33:22):
tell you guys about Jesus. And it's like, you know,
but why this specific episode, And then you know, it
just kind of dawned on me. I was like, it's
because this is like the most important one. Like of course,
you know, the Devil is going to try to like,
you know, split me and Chris open for an episode.
(33:44):
And then of course once he's you know, he splits
us up for an episode, he tries to attack me
because the guys, I'm telling you, I was this close
to just saying now, I record it later. But in
my mind I knew if I record this episode later,
you know, my newborn's not gonna fall asleep or something's
gonna happen, and then I'm gonna be either I'm gonna
(34:07):
have to record this episode when I'm super tired and
not attentive, or I just wouldn't record the episode and
it doesn't drop Monday, and then you know, who knows
when me and Chris can sink back up and get
it dropped, and then it's like we're a week. It's
just all all and I just it's literally just spiritual warfare.
And it's the same spiritual warfare that attacks those Sunday
(34:30):
mornings when you roll over and you've got every excuse
not to go to church, and most people give in,
but me and my wife have got to the point
now where we're like, as soon as one of us
is like, well, I guess we could stay home, the
other one's like, you know, if we stay home, it's
gonna be an awesome, awesome service, right. And it's just
spiritual warfare. But the reason why that spiritual warfare is
(34:51):
happening is because the resurrection is what changes everything. You know,
I was watching a video and I'm not going to
show it to you because it's just graphic and vulgar
and disgusting. But there's this LGBTQ crowd that did an
episode or they did this like big public display where
(35:12):
they were basically, you know, you had quote unquote Jesus
on the cross and then you had this other like
gay guy that came up and was basically doing a
strip tease on him while he was on the cross,
and he was doing all these disgusting motions and stuff,
hanging from the cross and hanging all over Jesus, and
then he like at one point rips Jesus off the
cross and does like a lap dance on and just
(35:34):
just completing total blasphemy. And I was sitting there watching
this hurt, disgusted, annoyed, angry, all the emotions, and I
was skinning through the comments, and somebody made the comment
of like, oh, yeah, but they don't have the guts to,
you know, do this about Mohammed. And somebody commented on
that that comment and said, well, yeah, like because no,
(35:57):
you know, nobody's going to talk bad about a dead man,
you know, or it's easier to make fun of a
dead man, you know, or whatever. And you know, however
it was that they worded it, but the thought was like,
you know what, that's exactly right. It's funny because people
attack Jesus exactly like they did in the crucifixion still
(36:20):
to this day, because of the power that's in his
name and without the resurrection. Like me and Chris, you know,
we talked about the death and all the prophecies that
were fulfilled. But on the last episode, but it's like
without the resurrection, you know, Christianity is just Christianity. It's
(36:41):
it's just another religion. It's just you know, it's another
set of rules, and it's another set of of ideologies
and stuff. And so what makes Jesus different is the resurrection.
And if he if he is who he says he is,
(37:04):
then that changes everything. And if he is who he
said he was, that's why they killed it, because he
proclaimed to be God. And last week I was trying
to rack my brain to remember I was trying to
remember some verses Chris pulled I think one or two,
(37:25):
but it wasn't the verses I was thinking about. But
the verses that I was thinking about was Matthew twelve eight,
John five seventeen through eighteen, John five, twenty one through
(37:48):
twenty seven, John six thirty five, John eight fifty eight.
Let me just read a few of these in Mark two,
Mark two five through seven, also in Matthew too. In
Luke five, Jesus said, your sons are for your sins
(38:10):
are forgiven, and the scribes says, who can forgive sins?
But God alone, and Jesus was forgiving sins. He claims
to be the Lord of the Sabbath in Matthew twelve eight,
The Son of Man is the Lord of the Sabbath.
He places himself above one of God's most sacred commands,
(38:32):
which is to keep the Sabbath holy. And everybody that
knows knows that God God still technically works through those
It's I can't I don't have time to unpack the
whole thing. But essentially like God is the only one
that can, you know, work on the Sabbath, we as
humans are supposed to take that day of rest, and
(38:53):
so Jesus is basically saying, well, you know, I'm the
Son of Man is the Lord of the Sabbath. He
heals the man on the Sabbath, calls God his father,
claims authority to judge and give life in John five,
just as Father raises the dead and gives them life,
so the Son gives life, claims to be the bread
(39:14):
of life. He uses the divine name I Am before
Abraham was I Am, which is the same verbiage that
God used when he was talking to Moses, on and
on and on. He claims unity with the Father and
John ten and then eventually, you know, just before Pilot
(39:35):
or whatever. But you know, he claimed to be God
and that was why they killed him. And still to
this day we still treat him exactly the same. We
still spit in his face and make fun of him
and blaspheming to his face. Why because of the message
he preached, right, And it's just it's it's it's uncomfortable
(40:01):
when you look at the scriptures and you look at
the scriptures of end Times and you read about what
happened to Jesus and how they treated him and all this,
and it's just like, you know, it's difficult because it's like,
you know, we still to this day are doing the
(40:23):
same exact things that we was doing back then, you know.
So I'm gonna go ahead and get into the kind
of the outline. First, I want to go ahead and
pray this up a little bit as I'm switching my earbos.
I want to pray for Chris's tooth and his health
(40:45):
situation and his house situation. I'm also going to pray,
you know, I want to thank God for my recent
financial lift. And then if you guys have any prayer quests,
make sure you let us know as well. But yeah,
(41:05):
I'm just sorry I was thinking out loud, but I'm
gonna go ahead and pray us up. And like I said,
I do have notes some referred back to, just like
make sure not forget stuff. But God, we want to
be with Chris, and we just pray that his tooth
and his dental issues and the complications from that, he
has a speedy recovery. You know, me and him both
(41:28):
have really bad migraines, so I can't imagine the migraines
he's getting just on the side of all this stuff.
But pray for speedy health recovery. Pray that his house
in Portugal cells, and that they can find the right
home to be able to minister to those around them
there in Wisconsin where they currently live. God, I want
to thank you personally for my recent financial the burden
(41:52):
being lifted off a little bit. I've been praying really
hard about that, just because we're struggling so hard, and
I want to thank you for that. God. I want
to pray for the listeners. I don't know where they're
at with their walk with You. I don't know if
they know you, don't know you. Maybe they knew you
once but they stray away. I don't know where they're at, God,
but I can pray that hopefully I can make some
(42:16):
some impact on their life and meet them where they're
at today. But I pray that whatever pain, afflictions, depressions,
whatever issues that they are dealing with, God, that you
can help work through that with them so that they
can know you and be closer to You. God. And
we pray for this country. This country is more divided
(42:36):
than it's ever being God, and I just pray that
you can just heal this nation and that we can
see souls saved if people get close to you before
and time runs out. God. And I just pray that
on this podcast you can help me reach those that
need to hear this message and you can just talk
(42:57):
through me. And I pray that no spirit but the
Holy Spirit be allowed to operate not only in my
house right now, God, but on this podcast. And so
you're having the name we pray Man. And like I said,
so much spiritual warfare has went into this episode. I
came so close to not even recording it today and
trying to do it to not but some of the
(43:18):
points that I want to go over is the resurrection,
it's aftermath. Like I said, last week, we talked about
basically the death of Jesus, all the prophecies and everything
that he fulfilled, and you know, we we talked about
the Roman how they how the Romans basically perfected crucifixion
(43:41):
and and all that, and then by the time we
got to the end of the episode, we didn't have
as much time to talk about the resurrection. So so
Palm Sunday, Jesus basically comes in on triumphal entry. Everybody's
you know, laying laying palms at his feet. He's riding
in on a donkey. They're praising him, Hoseana, Hoseanna in
(44:03):
the highest, They're praising to be God. And then literally
by from Sunday to Thursday night, all that's crumbled. They've
grabbed him. They basically took him, put him on trial,
sentenced him to death for what they thought was blasphemy,
(44:24):
not realizing that he was God. By nine am Friday morning,
he's hanging on the cross. He hangs on the cross
from about nine am to threem I believe, and then
they put him in the tomb and then you know,
that's kind of where the story picks up from here.
(44:48):
All this was happening during Passover, and so when they
put him in the tube, and they had to put
him in the tomb, wrap him up super tight with
spices and all this stuff because Shabbat or the Sabbath
was coming, and you know, you're not allowed to like
go anywhere or do anything really on the Sabbath. You're
(45:11):
supposed to rest and keep it holy, you know, so
they basically, you know, by the end of the day Friday,
he's essentially being prepped, you know, put in the tomb,
and you know that was where they basically thought it was.
It So, and the Resurrection Sunday isn't just a holiday.
(45:36):
It's the foundation of our faith. If Jesus didn't rise,
then our hope is hollow. But he did rise, and
because of that everything changes. What happens is now, obviously
when we say resurrection Sunday, that's the metaphork significance of it.
(45:58):
We don't actually officially know that it was Sunday. It's
just the significance of it and when we celebrate it.
But so what happens is early Sunday morning, Mary Magdalen
and some of the women they go to honor Jesus's body,
and when they show up, they realize the tomb is empty.
(46:20):
This is in Mark sixteen one through eight, and actually
I'm going to read that Mark sixteen one through eight,
and just an honor of Chris, I'm going to read
this in the night v When the Sabbath was over,
Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Salome
(46:44):
brought spices so that they may go anoint Jesus's body
very early on the first day of the week Jesus
or sorry, just after sunrise. They were on their way
to the tomb, and when they asked each other, who
will roll the stone away from the entrance of the
tomb because this tomb was estimated to be like a
two ton tomb, which I don't even know how much
(47:06):
two tons is. I know it's a lot. And they
sealed it, which we'll get to here in a little bit.
But they asked them, says, well, when we get there,
who's gonna roll the stone away? Because it took like
twelve or fourteen Roman soldiers are having many people like
push it away. It was massive. But when they looked up,
they saw that the stone, which was very large, had
(47:26):
been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw
a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on
the right side, and they were alarmed. Don't be alarmed,
he said, you were looking for Jesus the Nazarene who
was crucified. Well he's risen. He is not here. See
the place where they lady, But go tell this, Go
(47:48):
tell his disciples and Peter. He is going ahead of
you into Galilee. There you will see him just as
he told you. Trembling and bewildered, the women went out
and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone
because they were afraid. So the stone being rolled away
was more than just logistics. It was a supernatural mic
(48:10):
drop that death couldn't hold him. The type of tomb
that Jesus was in, he was buried in a rock
cut tomb, which is a style Kautmann in Jerusalem during
the Second Temple period, which would have been you know,
five hundred and sixteen BC to a d. Seventy ish.
But these tombs were usually carved out of lamestone, often
(48:30):
including a small chamber and nisus nishe Nietzsche, How do
you say that I always get confused for laying bodies.
Joseph of Arimathea, which we talked about a little bit
on the last episode. The tomb belonged to Joseph of Arimathea.
He was a wealthy member of the Jewish Sanhedron who
(48:54):
was also a secret follower of Jesus. This is Matthew
twenty seven fifty seven through sixty. I'm gonna put all
these scriptures in the notes too, don't worry. This fulfilled
the prophecy Isaiah fifty three to nine, which said that
the site would be buried with the rich in his death,
which we talked about on the last episode. The stone itself,
(49:21):
the tomb was sealed with a large stone, often a
disshaped rock, rolled into a groove in front of the entrance.
This type of the tomb closure was typical for the wealthy.
These stones could weigh one to two tons, making them
very difficult to move without multiple strong people in special tools. Now,
(49:45):
the Romans seal in the guards. According to Matthew twenty
seven sixty six Roman guards were stationed and the tomb
was sealed by official authority, which most likely was with
ropes and or like some type of seal that they
used to do this. They would do this to prevent tampering.
So again, the the Jewish Sanhedrin, the Pharisees, the Jews,
(50:11):
they basically they go to the Roman authority and they're like, hey, dude,
look y'all better put some people out front and make
sure this thing is locked down, because what's gonna happen.
He's been running around to everybody he's gonna come back
and raise from dead after three days, and so what's
gonna happen is is his disciples are gonna go steal
(50:31):
the body. They're gonna steal it. They're gonna make it
look like you did it. That way they can brag everybody.
You know, we ain't gonna let it happen. So they
go and they get a bunch of Roman guards to
stand guard. Then they seal it with this two ton.
Speaker 2 (50:46):
Stone and they actually physically seal it with the binding
you know, wax wrote, you know whatever that they used
to find this to the Great because they wanted to
make make sure that it was impossible.
Speaker 1 (51:04):
Impossible for him to you know, look like he raised
from the dead. Also, breaking the seal was punishable by
death under the Roman law. Let's keep that mind. So
the Resurrection Morning, the Gospel state that the stone had
been rolled away early Sunday morning, despite its massive size
(51:25):
Mark sixteen three through four. The angel's action Matthew twenty
eight two in moving the stone is often prevented as
a divine sign not to let Jesus out, but to
let witnesses in, which is incredible because again, he could.
He didn't have to roll the stone away, Dude, he
(51:45):
could it just and popped out. But they moved it
as a sign to basically show the witnesses. It wasn't
so Jesus could get out. That's that's the part that
cracks me up. So just sorry, I was just I
was thinking about that for a second. Usually when Chris
(52:09):
is talking, I can sit here and kind of ponder
these deep wonderings in my mind. But just the fact
that they did this was only really for them. And
then also I believe I can't remember if I need
to look it up, I guess, but I can't remember
if the Roman soldiers were like asleep or dead or
what happened to the Roman soldiers. But they were stationed
outside and it was literally like, you know, wow, just
(52:33):
it's incredible. And also don't miss this that God chose
women to be the first witnesses of the resurrection, which
was a big deal at that time because, for one,
it basically reminds us that God vades everybody, regardless of
statue or background. But also at this time, so women
(53:01):
in this day and age here that we're talking about
were basically considered they wasn't considered reliable witnesses in legal setting,
especially in Jewish courts, a woman's testimony was often not
accepted unless no men were available. Josephus, a first century
(53:22):
Jewish historian, even wrote netlocket let not the testimony of
women be admitted on account of the levity and boldness
of their sex. So to me, and we've talked about
this for it only further proves that, in my opinion,
the Bible is true, because if they wanted to cook
(53:42):
up a story to make it credible, they wouldn't have
had women be the first to even discover the body.
This would have been considered embarrassing. If someone were making
up the resurrection story, they wouldn't have chosen women as
the first primary witnesses because that would actually hurt their
case rather than help it. This concept is known as
the criterion of embarrassment. If a detail would be considered
(54:06):
embarrassing or counterproductive, it's more likely to be historically authentic
because no one would invent it on purpose. Now, this
is a thing that come out later after it. The
other thing is all four gospels agree. Every gospel Matthew, Martin, Luke,
and John records that the women were the first to
find the empty tomb. The consistency across all these multiple
(54:28):
sources only strengthens the credibility of the account. Mary Magdalen
has mentioned my name in all four, indicating she was
well known in the early Church. The early Church's radical
view of women, again, was much different than that of
the time. The early Christian message elevated the status of women.
(54:49):
Jesus repeatedly honored and included women in his ministry. This
was countercultural, and the resurrection narrative fits that same mold.
So in short, the fact that women were the first
witnesses is not only countercultural, but it actually adds historical credibility.
If early Christians had fabricated this story, they would have
likely said prominent men like Peter John, someone like that
(55:13):
found the tomb instead, So so they go. They basically
see that Jesus isn't there. They run back, and then
they basically go grab some of the disciples. They run
back to the tomb, they see it's not empty, and
(55:33):
at this point or sorry, they see that it is empty.
And at this point words start spreading like wildfire. And
again me and Crystal hash over some of this again,
I'm sure in our episode, But the rest of the
story is what always cracks me up though, because we
as Christians kind of forget. Okay, he came, did some
(55:54):
awesome stuff, died of brutal death, and then he rose
from the grave. Well, a lot of Christians just think
that's he just descended, like after he rose from the dead,
you know all the Easter plays you go to after
he raises, he's standing there and then he like ascends.
But he was here for a minute afterwards and made
quite a few appearances. He didn't just disappear. He showed
(56:19):
up a lot on the road to uh e Maaeus
to discouraged disciples or walking and Jesus meets them. That's
in Luke twenty four. They didn't recognize him at first,
but when he breaks the bread boom. That's when they
see him, because he shows back up at one point
because they're like, dude, is he a ghost? What's going on?
Is this a ghost? Is this legit? And then he's like, dude,
(56:40):
I'm hungry, and so they sit down and start eating
and they're like, well, surely a ghost wouldn't be eating food.
So again, it's funny, he's doing all this so that
we believe, right, even like the tomb that wasn't for him,
he didn't need the stone rolled away. That was for
us to be able to see it, which is in crazy.
And then you have Thomas who says, unless I see it,
(57:02):
I won't believe it. Jesus meets him in that doubt,
no shame, just love again, Thomas basically is like, dude,
until I put my fingers in the holes of his
hands and feet, I won't believe it. Because Jesus appears
to some of the other disciples first, because they were
I think at one point they're like in the upper
room or something, and Thomas just happened to not be there,
(57:26):
and so he was like one of the last ones
to see it. He's like, nah, dude, I'm not going
to take your word for it. I have to see
it for myself. Well, what's funny is he's labeled as
doubting Thomas because of that. But it was a very
human reaction, Like if your best friend was brutally murdered
and somebody said, hey, y goo, dude, Ray Ray back,
y'all like, nah, dude, Ray Ray ain't back. I see
(57:46):
him dead. No he's back. I'm telling you, dude, he
was dead for like three No, Ray Ray's back. I'm
telling you'd be the same way. You'd be like, no, dude, No,
I got to see it for myself. So not only
is this a human reaction, but Jesus make a point
to circle back around and say here, dude, here I
am dude. Look, touch my hands, fill my feet, like,
see the wounds for yourself. That's in John twenty twenty
(58:09):
four through twenty nine. If you're doubting right now, you're
not disqualified. Jesus welcomes with real questions and real people,
even God in the Old Testament. I forgot what the
Bible verse is, but he says, come, let us reason,
and so I believe it was for forty days. I
should have wrote this down in the notes I don't
want to miss quote, but Jesus goes around for like
(58:31):
I think it was like forty days after that, and
appearing to the disciples, teaching a little bit more, and
then as he was about to leave, he basically sends
out the Great Commission, which before ascending the heaven, Jesus
gives the disciples the mission go make disciples, teach, baptize.
(58:55):
I'm with you always, Deuces, and then he has sinned.
That's Matthew twenty eight eighteen through twenty Obviously I kind
of took some liberties on the Deuce's part. He didn't
say that, But the call is still active. It's not
just for pastors, it's for us. We're all called to
be above reproach. It's just the pastor's you know, choir
(59:17):
leaders say. School teachers were called to be even more
above approach. But whether it's your job, your family, or
social media, wherever you are, you've got a platform to
shine his life. And the thing is is a lot
of times we get caught up in the what did
Jesus say versus what did Paul say versus? What did
his disciples say? And what Jesus said, and did we
(59:45):
take his concrete fact right. Obviously, where the discombobulation happens
is either you don't believe that Jesus was who he
says he was and you only believe the old Old Testament,
or maybe you don't believe the Old Testament all if
you believe in another religion. But when he left his
(01:00:07):
disciples in charge and eventually Paul converts and all that,
that's where doctrination, theologies, denominations happened. Because when people they
(01:00:29):
like to kind of like say, oh, well, Jesus didn't
say this, the disciples or Paul did, and then you
have people such as myself that I believe the whole
Bible cover to cover. But when you start getting into okay,
Jesus died, now what, that's where the disciples take over.
But it's important to remember the disciples Paul the quote
(01:00:52):
unquote early Church, if you want to label that, they
were doing what he told him to do, which is
when he left, he said, go make disciples, teach, preach,
baptize in the name of the Father, of the Son,
and the Holy Spirit. And so when you get to acts,
the acts is basically the acts of disciples. And we're
going to talk about that next week, I believe I
(01:01:14):
haven't talked with Chris again yet, but I believe on
the next episode we're going to do Okay, Jesus died,
now what And that's where theology and denominations start to
kind of split off a little bit. Some people say this,
some people say that, but the resurrection. What we know
is without the resurrection, Jesus is just another great guy
(01:01:40):
that he came, he lived, said some cool stuff, did
some cool stuff, and then died. And I've said this before.
If you're listening to this and maybe you're contemplating making
Jesus the Lord of your life, your savior, so many
people say, I just can't wrap my head around a dude,
you know, a person raising from the dead. It's just
(01:02:01):
not possible. Well, you're right, a person can't do that.
However God can. So literally, he's in heaven, he comes
down to Earth through the virgin birth, he lives, he dies,
he's just going back to Heaven. It's really not that
(01:02:21):
art of a concept. So if you don't know Jesus,
I encourage you reach out, reach out to us, and
we will help try to get you in touch with
the Jesus that we know and we serve. So I
hope that this episode has done the Resurrection justice. The
(01:02:45):
Resurrection transformed a bunch of fearful, hiding disciples into bold,
world changing preachers. Why because they've seen that there is
in Jesus. It wasn't just a metaphor, wasn't wishful thinking.
It was a miracle and it still is. So what
does this mean for you you today? It means that
there's hope. It means that pain, sin, addiction, anxiety, none
(01:03:06):
of these things gets the last word. Jesus beat death
and he can do that. And if he can do that,
he can handle whatever weight that you're carrying the Easter season.
We don't just remember the Resurrection. We live in the
power of it. Hopefully year Roalm. I do want to
