Speaker 1 (00:12):
Welcome to the Unreligious Podcast, where we spread the love
of Jesus without judgment or by laws, focusing solely on
Jesus Christ and the Bible. I am Chris and I
am Big Drew Ski.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
We are ten episodes away from the one year mark.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Fifty the two will be our one year yep.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Yeah, so we're this is episode forty two, so fifty
two will be the one officially the one year mark.
It's kind of it's kind of cool, you know. I'm
not going to say that. I I didn't think we
would make it this long or anything like that, but like,
you know, podcasting is a grind. I mean, I've definitely

(00:55):
ended podcasts way before forty two, so you know it,
it's been a wild route. But I've enjoyed every second
of it, you know, and it just each week is
a new new topic, new whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
But I've thoroughly enjoyed it. Man. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Yeah, I mean too, We're probably gonna have to do
something something special for the fifty episode fifty two.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
Yeah, I mean we'll have to figure something out.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Yeah, I mean we have to talk through that a
little bit. But yeah, we're basically ten weeks away from
from the Big five two.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
I cannot believe, dude, I can tell you right now.
I don't think my wife thought that I was going
to run with it this long. I thought she she
thinks it was just.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Another one of those.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Pipe dreams, you know, so to speak. When I said
I want to start about She's like, oh, okay, but yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Mean this is mean, you know, like before this, I
mean I was I had already kind of thought about, like, man,
you know, because I had canceled, you know, we quit
doing the college football podcast, and I was kind of like, man,
I really want to do like a Christian podcast. But

(02:11):
then I got to thinking, I'm like, man, that's a
big load to carry by myself, you know, And so
I kind of I was thinking through it and table
in it, and then me and you started talking, and
then you mentioned something about it, and so I started,
you know, You're like.

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Maybe you can help me. I know you've done it
for it.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
I'm like yeah, So like I kind of went into
like helping mode, and then it was just like, I mean,
do you want to I mean, I'll co host it
with you if you want.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
You're like, well yeah, and I that'd be cool.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Like you know, you're like I didn't really necessarily want
to ask, but yeah, like and then it was just
I mean, I don't know, it's it's it's just been
such a blessing, dude, because it's like, you know, I
don't know about you if you've had it happen yet,
but it's like I've had people walk up and be like, hey, dude,
I listen to you all's podcast in that episode, and

(03:00):
it was it's like, okay, cool. And it's like every
time somebody comes up and says something nice, it's like,
oh wow, you know, and like I can tell they've
actually listened because they kind of reverberated back, like oh yeah,
I like how you guys were talking.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
About that, and it's like wow.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
But just I mean, I know, I know my Bible
a lot more, and I mean I was studying it
pretty good. But it's I think we talked about a
few episodes back, but it's like when you're quote unquote
teaching or presenting or whatever, just locks it in way tighter.
You know.

Speaker 3 (03:33):
Yeah, one hundred percent.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
I haven't had anybody walk up to me and say, oh, hey,
you know, we listened. I listen to your podcast. But
I can tell you that along with the things that
happened this week that we're going to go over, we
met with our youth pastor at church for the rush
that's coming up, and we were in there for two

(03:58):
hours through We were in our youth pastor's office for
two hours. We know the youth pastor, we go way back,
like when we first started going to Crossroads, and so
he had mentioned something because we kept talking about ninevah.
We were explaining to him how this is our ninevah
and he's like, you know, I never understood that, Chris.

(04:19):
I listened to it on the podcast and I heard
you say about ninevah, but I never put it together
until you just explained it to me. So that was
a little subtle hint right there that the youth pastor
may be listening.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
To some of these episodes.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
So I thought that was pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Yeah, well, I know when you guys were still on
the island there, you know, you had people that were
listening to it. It's like, I know where I've told
people about it and they said that they were going
to and you know, but that that first time when
you're just talking to somebody random and they're like, oh yeah, by.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
The way, I checked your podcast out there.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
You're like, oh, oh, oh, well happen okay, yeah, but
uh yeah, it's been an awesome wild ride. I guess
just catching up on the week raise report.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Thank you guys.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Uh, everybody in Portugal and Sheboygan and Tennessee and all
over the place that's been praying for my wife. Her
knee had been getting better, so you know, I felt
pretty good about it. But we officially went to the
mri I thing today, the get to get the test results.
No tears, no rips, no nothing. The only thing that

(05:31):
she has is just a little bit of fluid built up.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
The doctor.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
The doctor recommended physical therapy, but then he had her
like kind of do like full range of motion and stuff,
and he's like, I mean, your motion's pretty good. If
you want to go to physical therapy, you can, if not,
just stretch it out and whatever. And so I think
I'm gonna buy one of those it's all over TikTok.
But the home apothecary books that has like the natural

(06:01):
remedies and stuff.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
I was looking the other day.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Apparently green tea is actually which I mean, I've been
drinking it I'm trying to drink instead of zeros. But
apparently green tea is not only good at keep like
keeping cancer and stuff away, but apparently it's really good
as an anti inflammatory as well. So but I'm gonna

(06:29):
look up a few other things that's kind of anti
inflammatory and see if we can't nurse her back without
a whole lot of medical stuff. But yeah, that was
just a absolute blessing. And then I guess it's it's
a combination of moments. But another God moment for me
is my daughter has been watching Meno, which is like

(06:50):
it's kind of like today's generation of veggietails, if you
want to label it like that. But dude, she's learning
so much that it's like keeping me on my toes
like she So I actually left and went to a
men's Bible stage tonight because I had to stay off
to take my wife to her appointment. And I came

(07:11):
back and sat down and she's like, Daddy, look at
this picture I drew. I was like, Okay, what is that.
She's like, Oh, that's Joseph and his brothers, and you
know Joseph the Coat of Many Colors, And I was like,
oh wow, that's awesome, and my wife was like, uh
or she said something about and my daughter said something about, yeah,
that's his mean brothers right there, and my wife goes no,

(07:33):
and she was asking me, but she's like, now, what
was his dad's name again?

Speaker 3 (07:37):
And my daughter goes, oh.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
His name is Jacob, and I was like what what. Yeah, Like, dude,
she's been surprising me so much. But that's just been
such a blessing. And I want her to have that foundation.
But the biggest thing is I want her to see
that foundation and me and my wife. Yeah, And I

(07:59):
think that that's the biggest difference, is like if she
actually sees us living it, I think you know, she's
gonna I think she'll actually at least growing up, you know,
think she won't be thinking like well, my parents are
hypocrites or whatever, you know, this or that. But it's
just been a blessing, dude. But like I said, it's

(08:20):
like keeping me on my toes, dude. She I was
reminded of that Bible verse that talks about how we
should have childlike faith to not because she was asking
she said, well, how come because she's watching her mento things,
She's like, how come God is always like a beam
of light.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
He's not a person.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
I said, well, I said, we're created in God's image.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
I said, but.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
We can't like see God because he's so big and
awesome and amazing that he's just it would be like
staring at a light and if you were to stare
at him, he would be brighter than the sun. And
she was like, I find that hard to believe. And
I said, well, I said, yeah, it is hard to believe.
But I said, but God is so big and bright

(09:06):
and whatever. And then she goes, well, if he's brighter
than the sun, then how come it gets dark at night?
And I was like, because you're trying to explain like
theology to a six year old. And I'm like, it's
hard to explain, baby, But oh, it's your bedtime, you know.
So she's really keeping me on my toes, which is good.

(09:28):
But those are kind of my two God moments of
the week. But dude, we're just I mean blessed, man,
I mean just the whole car situation, in Ivy's health,
and I mean we're just we're just blessed, dude, And
I'm so thankful. But thank you to you, your wife,
the listeners, people at my church, and you know, just
thank you for everybody for the prayers and everything, because
I really do think that that that Land did.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
So yeah, absolutely, I agree. Oh that's good stuff. Man,
that's really good that that her knee is good. You're
not going to have to have surgery or anything like that.
Your athey is mixed in your car, I mean, dude, yeah, yeah,
things are things are good. They're good on this end too.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
Now you had a couple positive things.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
You're out.

Speaker 3 (10:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
So my wife and I we volunteer the second Sunday
Sunday of every month. We do janitorial work for all
three services, just keep the bathrooms tidied up and stuff
in between. And we ran into the youth pastor a
couple of weeks. Well last Sunday of this was three
weeks ago. Anyways, he U. We just sat and had

(10:35):
a great conversation in between services and then he called
us out of the blue. Well, they didn't call me.
He sent me a message. He says, hey, I know
it's a long shot, but would you and Audrey be
interested in being small group leaders at Rush? And Rush
is sixth grade through twelfth grade, and it's all about

(10:58):
building into the students and building into the kids, building
into the next generation. And they do this every year,
and it's the whole school year, and so you have
to commit to Wednesday nights for the whole school year.
And then what they do is like we're new leaders.
So they start us off with the sixth graders. We

(11:19):
move on with them. So next year they'll be seventh
graders and we will be their leaders again, and we'll
be their leaders all the way through high school.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
And that's pretty cool, dude.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yeah, dude, So you get to know these kids inside
and out. Over the years, you get to know their family,
You get to be part of what's going on and
watch them grow and flourish. And yeah. So he asked us,
he said, do you guys want to do this? It's
a huge commitment. If you guys need time to think
about it. I was like, you know, I tried this

(11:52):
once before. I felt like I was called towards like
youth ministry. When we were in Tennessee and I went
to a church there, big megachurch, and I did the
same thing. It was sixth graders that I was going
to help be a small did leader and it was
a disaster. I mean, it like shied me away. When

(12:13):
Charles first reached out, I was like, I don't know
this is my calling. But after he had explained everything
and how well structured this event is, I'm completely at ease.
So my wife and I we were like, we don't
even need time to think about it. You know, God's
obviously knocking on the door, and you don't ignore that.

(12:34):
When when God knocks on the door, you answer it
and you answer the call. So yeah, so that was awesome.
So we're going to be starting training for that. Met
with the youth pastor, like I said a little bit ago,
two hours in his office. It was amazing. And then
we have a possible offer of the house. I don't
want to jinx anything, but prayers would be appreciated. There

(12:57):
is a guy that some people we know over there heat.
This guy is buying a couple of properties to turn
into airbnbs, but they don't they want to move into
our house. Like they want to buy our house to
move into. They don't want to turn it into an airbnb.
They want to live there and make that their home.
Came in a little bit low on the spectrum for

(13:20):
what we're asking for the house, But dude, it's been
on the market for almost a year now and we
have come down forty five thousand dollars on the price,
and I'm just like, at this point, I'm going you know,
God's we're learning another lesson. You know, all I saw
and listeners, this is just a prime example of how

(13:40):
God works. All I saw was dollar signs. Man, if
we could sell this house for this amount of money,
we're going to be able to pay off everything and
still have X amount of money. I'll probably be able
to buy a boat, you know, get a truck. And
God smacked me, dude. He was like, you're looking at
the wrong stuff. You're looking at the dollar signs, and

(14:00):
that's not what it's about. So I think that this
offer was put in front of us so we can
show humility. Does that make sense, Yeah, so we have.
But here's the other issue. We are in a contract
until September twenty sixth with the realtor. This person who

(14:20):
is thinking about wanting to offer money on the house
doesn't want to go through the realtor, and if we
did it at his price, we would lose so much money.
So we're probably going to bite our time and wait
until we don't have the contract anymore and then maybe
we can do a cash sale or something. But anyway, yeah,
great news. Praise God. There's stuff moving on the house finally,
so we may we may have some answer to prayer.

(14:41):
So thank you also to everybody for praying for us,
praying for the house. I know that there's been a
lot of people diligently praying for this, and I appreciate it,
so does Audrey. So yeah, that's that's what we're sitting.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
Yeah, that'll be a weight lifted brother. I mean, you know,
just having that lift at all off of you will
just I think it'll free everything else up to where
you know, you're not going to be having that in
the back of your mind, especially if you could get
rid of that moving into this next chapter.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
That'll kind of be sort of the closing of that season.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
So yeah, prayers that it goes through for sure. Which,
speaking of prayers, we'll go ahead and get into the
prayer request right now. Man. I mean, I don't want
to say this and sound arrogant, but I think I

(15:36):
like all my prayers right now, for the most part,
are answered. I will add one more.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
To the list.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
This is gonna be an unspoken I'm gonna put one
of my co workers is going through just kind of
a family crisis with a prodigal that is causing issues.
It's to the point where this prodigal has come back

(16:07):
and kept causing problems, and it's to the point now
where she's had to kind of tell her like, don't
come back here because like literally she's had cops showing
up at the door and this family member hers is
like looks like another family member, and so the cops

(16:30):
was like going to try to arrest the wrong person.
It's just it's literally causing strife in their family household.
So I'll put that as as my prayer request. But
the only other prayer quest that I have is just
just the podcast topic really and well, I'm gonna put
podcasts topic and technical issues like hopefully we can We're

(16:57):
gonna try to wrap this up tonight.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
So that's all I got.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
Yeah, Yeah, I've got mine in there. I'll throw mine
in there as as we go along. I believe it's
my turn, yep.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
And then obviously, if you guys have any prayer requests,
feel free to email us at the Unreligious Podcast at
gmail dot com. You can send us a message on
our socials. You can comment on this video later. Me
or Chris One will see it. If you guys have
any prayer quests, just feel free to reach out, and
other than that we'll get prayed up.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
All right, sounds good, Father, God Lord Jesus. We are
so humbled in your presence. Father. We have no idea
the majesty that you present, and Father, one day we
will and we look forward to that.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
Father.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Father, you answer our prayers left and right. You do
so much for us. Tonight, we have a few more
prayers that we'd like to send up to you, Father,
and some answers. Father. We pray for our son Tristan
in Colorado. Father, we know that he's working hard. He's
trying to get his car roadworthy so he can make

(18:09):
the journey. I just pray that you bless him where
he's able to do that and get back here where
we are and get plugged in and start learning a
whole lot more about you, Father.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Father.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
I want to pray for Drew's co worker, the family
crisis they're having with the prodigal Father. I just pray
that you show your grace and mercy on them and
show them the patience and understanding and Father. I just
pray that their prayers are heard. And I know they are, Father,
and I know you'll answer them. It's a rough situation, Father,

(18:45):
so I pray peace and understanding over them. I'd like
to pray for my family, Father, the ones who have wandered,
the ones who don't want anything to do with you.

Speaker 3 (18:57):
Father.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
I just pray that you soften their hearts. I pray
that you bring them back around.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Father.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
They all have the seed planet, they all have a foundation,
and I just pray that you just build on that
and bring them back.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Father.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
I want to pray for my sister. She was at
the doctor today, which you know, I just pray for
her health.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
Father.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
I pray that the doctors can find a way to
make her more comfortable. You know what the issues are, Father,
I pray for her health.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
Father.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
I want to pray for my mom and my sister
as well, who are making a trip to Mexico to
spread your word and to spread your love.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
Father.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
We're so proud of them taking this trip for a
week over there to help the less fortunate and homeless
people and kids and just show them the love of
Jesus and how much he cares for them, Father, and Father,
I would really really like to pray that you protect them,
keep them safe on that journey, keep them safe while

(20:05):
they're there, safe travels over and back.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
Father.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
These people love you so much and they're doing your work.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Father.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
I want to pray for the podcast tonight.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
I want to.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
Pray that you keep the enemy at bay, use your
mighty hand and keep him away from this podcast tonight. Father,
is such a tough topic we're discussing, and Drew has
put so much work into it and it's been so hard.

Speaker 3 (20:30):
Father.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
So I just pray that tonight you keep the enemy
at bay. You allow us to get your word out
there to people who might need to hear it. And
I pray that people do hear it, Father, and I
pray that it does help people, anybody and everybody. Father,
we love you so much. We're so grateful for all
that you do and all the answered prayers we do receive. Father,

(20:53):
we love you. We pray this in Jesus name. Omen
This is good stuff. Man.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
That's awesome that this year she's gonna be going on
a mission trip as well.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
So, dude, my mom's going to be eighty in November,
and she's going on a missions trip to Mexico.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Dude, that's so cool, man, she is so cool.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
Yeah, oh man, Yeah, I mean.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
God's really working through your family, brother, in a really
good and powerful way.

Speaker 3 (21:30):
Dumb.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
So just to get I'm just gonna give you guys
a brief free caf and then we're going to go
into the night's episode. But again we're talking about the
demonic stronghold of suicide, which I'm going to try to
not touch my earbud at all tonight, that created havoc
last week for no reason whatsoever other than spiritual warfare.

(21:52):
But so we're talking about the demonic stronghold of suicide.
And again I'm just gonna run over some cliff notes here,
but we talked about how suicide is the spiritual battle,
not just the mental issue. We're not here to condemn,
but to expose the real enemy, which is Satan.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
Jesus came to bring.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
Life and to live, uh, and to give you life abundantly.
We've we've exposed the enemy, the demonk stronghold of suicide.
It's more than just feelings, it's it's a strategic attack
rooted in lies like you're better off gone.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
No one loves you. This pain's never going to end.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Satan's ultimate end game is to kill, still and destroy
if he can stop you from living out the purpose
that God's ordained.

Speaker 3 (22:40):
On your life.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
I mean, that's just the easiest way for him to
not only.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
You, I'm trying to wait through it, okay, not only
to try to get you to stop, but to stop
your impact on others.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
We've talked about, you know, how suicide starts with thoughts,
and those thoughts become strongholds. The enemy targets your identity,
your worth, your purpose. We've also talked about entruy points
of thoughts of suicide, trauma, abuse, rejection, isolation, generational curses.

(23:20):
These these can become spiritual strongholds and ultimately freedom and deliverance. Freedom,
Freedom is possible through Jesus. And so tonight we're basically
we're gonna wrap this up and we're gonna end on
a spiritual note. We talked about in the first episode

(23:41):
just statistics and different things like that identifying suicide for
what it is. Then we kind of went into spiritual
look at it, and then we broke down a passage
from Mark on the third episode and the fourth episode,
it was either the third or fourth episode, and we
just got completely shut out. So but yeah, so I'm

(24:05):
gonna pick back up, and I'm gonna screen share here
too while I'm at it now. Parts of this wrong Window.
Parts of this actually came from the Sunday School lesson
that I taught, which was do you know your enemy?

Speaker 3 (24:20):
Do you know your army? So we're gonna get into
that again. Our theme verse pretty.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Much for this whole series is John ten ten the
thief does not come except to still kill and destroy.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
But I Jesus says, have come.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
That they may have, that they may have life, have.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
It more abundantly. So we're gonna get now. I did
tee up.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
Your spiritual armor last week a little bit, but we're
gonna get into essentially capping this off of how do
you keep the enemy at bay? The number one best
thing is the armor of God, your spiritual armor. I
didn't break into that too much only because us Chris
express that he which either he or me, one of us,

(25:06):
is going to do the armor of God here soon
and we'll see how. You know, I would like to
do it as well. He said he wanted to take it.
So we'll just see where the topics take us. I
know he's going to do don't judge me next.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
So I believe that.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
What I was saying, brother on the on the armor
of God is there's a lot of meat on the
bone there. And like I could do the helmet of salvation,
you could do the breastplate of righteousness. I could do
the sword, you could do they so we could eat
it and make a whole episode out of it.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
I'm sure.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Yeah, So we're gonna touch on that, and so we're
gonna put a pin in that. So I'm going to
move into These are six truths for spiritual readiness. The
first truth is we are in a spiritual war every day, right,
so the second that you've become a child of God,
the enemy is always going to attack that.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
In John fifteen eighteen through nineteen.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
This is Jesus talking, but he says, if the world
hates you, you know that it hated me before it
hated you. So if you are of the world, the
world would would love its own. Yet because you are
not of the world, but I chose you out of

(26:21):
the world.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Therefore the world hates you.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
That's one of the truest verses I've lived this over
the last couple of years, so bad from the standpoint
of like the second that you quit living like everybody else,
you're essentially a target. The second verse is second Corinthians
ten three through six, where we walk in the flesh,
we do not war according to the flesh, for the

(26:45):
weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God.
For pulling down.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
Strongholds, which is what we're talking about.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself
against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity
to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish
all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. So the first truth,

(27:13):
simply put, is the second that you become a child
of God, the second that Jesus takes you and saves
you and pulls you out of that pit. You have
to understand that you are gonna be in a spiritual
battle every single day. It doesn't matter if it's dealing
with thoughts of suicide.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
It doesn't matter if you know.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
You're trying to start ministry or disciple, whatever it is.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
You're in a spiritual battle every single day.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
The second that you've become one of His and like
John fifteen eighteen through nineteen says, you know, he basically said, look,
you're gonna be persecuted because they persecuted me first. Like
it's gonna happen. And so I think knowing that before
you start, and you look at every day as like okay,

(28:05):
you know, like because we think a lot of times
once we become a Christian, like all the lot of
numbers are gonna hit, our car is never gonna break down.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
You know.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
We just think, oh, and there's a lot of people
that preach, oh, if you just keep giving money, you
keep doing this, it's you know, and that's really not
that kind of goes against what the Bible says. We're
gonna have trials, we're gonna have tribulations, and the enemy
is gonna attack.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
Why because you're a threat.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Like I talked about last week, the fifty percent Christian
makes a zero percent impact, Like if the devil's not
attacking you, Although that feels comfortable, the reality is you're
of no threat to him, which I think is worse.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
You know.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
But thoughts on this first one, Yeah, I agree with you.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
The enemy.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
As long as you're doing what you're not supposed to
be doing. The enemy is like, Okay, they're good. I
don't need to worry about them because they're they're going
against God. It's when we take that that leap of
faith and confess Jesus Christ that Satan turns and looks
at us. It says, I can't have any of that.

(29:14):
I got to put this person in doubt. I've got
to make them wonder if God exists, and it's it's
the attack. So you're right, and and you know, the
world hates you. It hated me first, and think about that.
The world hated its savior, So how much more is
the world gonna just hate a nobody like me and you?

(29:35):
You know, honestly, So when we don't conform to the
way society wants us to, Yeah, we get kicked back,
we get we get a lot. And dude, I I
the yet because you are not of the world, right,
but I chose you out of the world. That statement

(29:57):
in itself, we are not supposed to be a world.
We're supposed to be of God, and God takes us,
chooses us out of the world. In other words, leave
all that behind, because eventually that's what's going to happen.
We're leaving it all behind, And I think that when
it comes to the topic of suicide, you have to

(30:17):
understand that no matter what, when you go through life,
you're going to have people that don't like you. You're
gonna have people that hate you. Sometimes that's not what's important.
What's important is who loves you, who's going to be
there for you, and who's going to be there to
help you through those tough times. And Christ is the
first one. God and Jesus are the first ones to

(30:38):
walk with you. If you're not familiar with footprints in
the sand, look it up. Amazing it tells the whole story.
But yeah, you've got to confess. And then once you
do that, you have a loving family. You have somebody
to turn to in those dark times and cry out to,
and he will answer. It may not be the way

(30:59):
you want, not be in the time you'd like it
to be, but I promise you'll be answer.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
I agree ten thousand percent.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
Like you said to me, that's a powerful and terrifying
one that basically says because.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
You are not of the world.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
You know, that's empowering because it's like you're like, man,
I'm like one of his children, right, It's like I'm
not of this world, I should be set at art.
So that's empowering, but at the same time, it's terrifying
because it's like, Okay, because I'm not of the world,
that means like I'm on the other enemy lines, right,

(31:47):
and so I just I think that that's a powerful verse.
So again, you got your spiritual armor, which we're gonna
break that down in detail later, but you got your
spiritual armor. You know you've got that. Okay, you're about
to go into battle against the enemy. So again, these
these six troops for spiritual readiness. Like I said, number one,

(32:10):
you're in a spiritual war every day.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
You have to realize that.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
If not, I mean, you're you're going to lose over
and over and over again if you're not aware that
you're in the battle. So the second thing is, okay,
now we're aware that we're in a spiritual battle every day, right, Okay.
So the second thing is you have to prepare for

(32:33):
that battle before the battle starts, right. So you're in
a spiritual war every day, whether you choose to be
or not. So you have to prepare for battle before
the battle starts. There's a there's a quote that I
love it says, dive your well before you're thirsty. Well,
that's the same thing with this. If you're not reading

(32:56):
your Bible every day, if you're not praying, if you're
not worshiping, if you're not getting ready before that battle starts.
I mean, you can't run out into the battle and
then throw your armor on right like, you have to
do that before you start. So some some verses Proverbs
twenty one thirty one, the horse is prepared for the
day of battle, but deliverances of the Lord second Timothy

(33:21):
four to two. Now, don't worry, we're gonna put all
these Bible verses in the description. If you're taking notes, awesome.
If not, like I said, we'll put those in there
for you if you're listening to this on the go.
But second Timothy four to two, preach the word be
ready in season and out of season, convince, rebuke, extort
with all long suffering and teaching. Now, this is kind

(33:43):
of one of my favorite verses. Verse Peter three point
fifteen says, but sanctify the Lord God in your hearts,
and always be ready to give a defense to everyone
who asks you a reason for the hope that is
in you. But this is where a lot of us

(34:09):
screw up. Chris, I mean I've done it, You've probably
done it. We've all done it. But do it with
meekness and fear. Right, a lot of Christians want to
run around and thump people over the head with the
Bible and be like repent, turn or burn, you know,
and bust. The Bible says we need to do that
with meekness and fear. But that verst right there.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
We just about the whole episode on.

Speaker 2 (34:33):
But always be ready to give a defense. So if
somebody ask you why do you believe that, you need
to be ready for why you believe it. So always
be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks
you for a reason of a hope that is in you.
Just even that part the hope that is in you.

(34:55):
We do a whole episode on that, but you got
to do that with meekness and fear. The last verse
on that point, as Joshua one to eight, this book
of the Wall shall not depart from your mouth, but
you shall meditate in it day and night, that you
may observe to according to all those written for then

(35:16):
you will make your way prosperous, and you will have
good success. Those are some powerful verses, you know, and
we live in this world of like, well there's a
lot of Christians. It's like, oh, just love everybody and
just I mean, the way the world is now, you
got to know the Word or you're going to be deceived.

(35:37):
Right I should. I could have thrown some verses in
there about that. But you have to know the Word
or you're going to be deceived, whether it's through ai,
false prophets, false teachers, any of that. You have to
be preparing every day for battle, because when that coworker
walks up, it's like, hey, so you're you know, you're

(35:58):
supposed to be some kind of Christian, right well, why
is it? Like you've got to be ready to answer
questions in season? And I don't if we were to
condense all those verses, that's I mean, that's a powerful statement,
like you have to stay ready not just for the unbelievers,
but also for the enemy.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Yeah, dude, it is. It's so heavy. Everybody's heard me
say it time and time again. The Word can't be
in you if you're not in the Word is reading
your Bible. And for me, what it comes down to,
and I call this spiritual maturity. All of us in

(36:44):
our early walks with Christ. Well, not all of us,
but me I can speak for me. It was easy
to just yeah, I believe in God, but I'm going
to go out to borrow. Yeah I believe in God,
but I'm going to go do my thing. I believe
and never commit to knowing God, believe in him, knew
who he was, but never committed to knowing him. And
the only way you can get to know God is

(37:05):
to be in the Bible. That's his word. This is
what he told us, and so you know it says
always be ready to give defense. If you're in your
Bible every day and you're reading scripture every day, you'll
know what to say when somebody comes up to you
and says, why do you believe in this Jesus character?
You'll know what to say because you've been in the

(37:26):
Word and you may not have it memorized, but I
promise you, if somebody asks you that the Holy Spirit
will help you out with that, you'll remember Versus you
didn't even know you remembered. And it happens a lot. So, yeah,
you've got to be in the world.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
But dude, it.

Speaker 1 (37:43):
Written in it, right, Dude, meekness and fear. I've never
thought about doing that, you know. I always want to
just grab people by the shirt collar and say you
don't know what you're missing.

Speaker 3 (37:57):
You just don't know what you miss.

Speaker 1 (37:59):
So, yeah, that you're right. The whole meekness and fear,
I mean, we can get into a whole apologetics thing,
you know, That's what this is is knowing you got
to apologetics in case people don't know apologists, they they
actually go out and debate and argue the case for
Christianity mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
And it gets heated sometimes too, and I think a
lot of people forget that, you know, doing it out
of meekness and love. Yeahely can't argue someone into heaven,
you know, past a certain point. You have to show
that love.

Speaker 3 (38:31):
Right.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
So the next point is you have to know your strengths.
Okay and me and Chris, you know, we've talked about
this a lot.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
If you if you're.

Speaker 2 (38:42):
Thinking, well, I don't really know what I'm good at,
like I don't know what you know what I'm good at,
or I don't know what my strengths are, take a
spiritual gifts quiz. That opened up my life so much
when I took that Spiritual Gifts quiz because what that
it gave me assurance for one, but it also highlighted
gifts that I didn't even know was it would consider

(39:04):
the spiritual gift. But the other thing is is that
when you know your spiritual strengths, you know by default
what your weaknesses are. So a lot of people they
get burnt out in church because they just sign up
for everything and they do things that is really not
in their willhouse or their strength. And so what happens
is they just sign up for everything. It doesn't matter

(39:26):
if it's greeting or you know, street preaching or choir.
They just start signing up for stuff and they get
burnt out. And a lot of that comes from you're
not really doing what your strengths are. And so if
an opportunity presents it stuff and it's within your wielhouse,
and you like, okay, this is a strength of mine,

(39:46):
it's like okay, yeah. But then there's also times I
think well meaning church people may not necessarily be aligned
with God's will and they're just looking to feel a
spot and if you if that's not one of your strengths. Now,
I think that there's times where God can use you
and pull yourself out of there, and you can do

(40:09):
something that's greater than yourself. But I think a lot
of times burnout comes from us just doing things that's
not in our wheelhouse. The fourth thing is when we're
talking about spiritual battle, is you have to know who
your commander is. Okay, which obviously for us it should
be God that should be our commander. But John ten

(40:31):
twenty seven says, this is Jesus talking my sheep. Sorry, lady, okay,
my sheep. This is Jesus talking my sheep. Here my voice,
and I know them and they follow me. Okay, he's
the shepherd, right, Luke six forty six. But why do

(40:52):
you call me lord lord and not do the things
which I say?

Speaker 1 (40:58):
The whole verse?

Speaker 2 (40:59):
We can do a whole thing on that one. Actually,
that right there is gonna be a good one for
you to remember on that. Don't judge me, uh segment.
But Luke six forty six, but why do you call
me lord lord and you do not do the things
which I say? It's power for statement Hebrews twelve three.
For consider him who endured such hostility from sinners against himself.

(41:21):
Unless you've become weary and encouraged. I always quote Keith
Brother Keith Boggs, which is the guy that leads our
men's groups. But he says if he's if God's not
Lord of all, then he's not lord at all. The
fact is, you have to know your commander. If you're
running out on the battlefield and you're running around with

(41:43):
your army and nobody knows who's in charge, and nobody's listening.
You know, the if the commander gives an order and
now everybody else goes out on the battlefield just does
whatever they want, well, like, you're not gonna win the battle, right,
So you have to know who your commander is, but
you also have to listen to the orders that he's
giving you. I'm gonna pop through. Well, i'll tell you what,

(42:09):
I'll let you comment on that, and then I'm gonna
pop through. You have to know who your army is
and your enemy and then i'll kind of we'll see
where we're at time wise. But there's a couple of
powerful statements in there as well. But I'll give you
a chance to kind of respond.

Speaker 1 (42:24):
Yeah, I mean your commander. No matter what job you're
doing in the world, you have a commander. You have
a boss, right, and when you get caught up and
you're not sure how to handle a situation or how
to cook the fries, writer, whatever it happens to be,
who do you go to. You go to the boss,

(42:45):
You go to the one who knows how to do
everything right. They come and they help you and they
show you. So it's kind of the same concept. God
is lord of all. I mean, he's outside time and
space and matter, and he's he knows it all. He
knows every things. So why wouldn't you consult somebody who
knows everything? Literally? You know, when you get to that

(43:08):
point where you're discouraged, you're having a hard time, you're
going down that rabbit hole, you're having those thoughts again,
listen to that, you know, go to your commander. Go
to your commander and say I need structure, I need help.
I need you to tell me where I need to
go from here because I'm done with it. And see
if you get answers, which you will.

Speaker 2 (43:29):
Yeah, like you said, I mean, you know, you can pray,
you can read your Bible. There's multiple there's multiple windows.
So number five is you have to know who your
army is. I'm going to quote these verses, I'm going
to kind of summarize them. I will leave them in
the notes if you want to go read them, but

(43:51):
please he ask these four nine through ten talks about
how two is better than one, for if one falls,
one will lift up his campaign, but woe to him
as he who falls alone. Galatians six to one through
two talks about brothers lifting up brothers in Christ. When
you see them stumble. If you're spiritual, restore them with gentleness.

(44:14):
Again gentleness, but also don't allow yourself to be tempted.
Psal On one through three. Psalm starts off awesome but
basically says, blessed is a man who walks not in
the council of the ungodly. So who is your army?

Speaker 1 (44:31):
Right?

Speaker 2 (44:33):
One part of your army is your spouse. That could
be I guess your boyfriend and girlfriend, or it could
also be your wife. Ephesians five is great passage to
read about that, but it out what lines the roles
of husbands and wife, encouraging mutual submission and ultimately, like dude,
the Bible says that when you get married, you become

(44:55):
one flesh with your spouse. Right, So like if you're
at arms with your and you're fighting with your spouse.
You're literally fighting against yourself, right, So, like that's just
it's just not going to work. Another part of your
army is your kids. Probably Verse twenty two to six
says you should train up a child in the way
that they should go, and they want to depart from

(45:18):
it if you're not a lot of times, Chris, we
have a bad problem.

Speaker 3 (45:22):
As a society.

Speaker 2 (45:23):
We treat our church like we do school. We just
want to drop the kids off and let the church
teach them. That's not the way it's supposed to be.
We should be the ultimate scriptural authority in our household.
We should be the theologians to our kids. If we're
not training our kids up, I mean, how many households
do you see to get broken apart because the kids

(45:45):
in charge, right, the kid runs the house, yep, you know.
And if that kid is not being trained up in
the right way, your army has a weak spot. It's
got a big weak spot. So your kids is part.

Speaker 3 (45:57):
Of your army.

Speaker 2 (45:57):
If you're not training them up as soldiers and you're
not prepared, you're not properly preparing them for battle, they're
going to fall the Bible, you know, talks about filling
your quiver with arrows and being fruitful of multiplying. Well,
you know, it's referring to your quiver the arrows as

(46:20):
your kids. And I heard a great analogy on that.

Speaker 3 (46:23):
The reason why in.

Speaker 2 (46:25):
Battle you use arrows is because that arrows designed to
hit a target that you can't reach.

Speaker 1 (46:30):
Right.

Speaker 2 (46:31):
Your kids, your arrows, if you train them up right,
they're going to hit a whole generation of people that
you're never going to see, you know, And so that's
it's a powerful analogy. Another part of your army is
your friends. Iron sharpens iron. That's Probablyverbs twenty seven seventeen.

(46:51):
Who you hang out with, there's great analogy to it.
Says who you run your who you run your race with,
how you're going to finish your race?

Speaker 3 (47:01):
Right.

Speaker 2 (47:02):
If you're surrounding yourself with people that's not godly, and
I'm not saying that you shouldn't you should just completely
do away with anybody that's not godly. We need to
witness to those people. But when it comes to your
inner circle, who you hang out with, you need brothers
in Christ's sisters in Christ. It's gonna lift you up,
push you to be better when you confide in, like,

(47:24):
who are you confiding in? If you're confiding in people
that's not godly, well guess what you're not gonna get
godly advice Like that has to go both ways. When
it comes to your inner circle, your army that you're
fighting this war with, you have to take that in consideration.
If you've got if you're surrounding yourself with friends that

(47:45):
are not that are not mirrors that show your blind spots,
you've got weaknesses all around you. Another part of your
army is your community. This can be your church, This
can be the places that you go who hang out
with that kind of intertwines with friends. Your church again,

(48:08):
you know Ephesians four, great chapter to read, But your
church is a big, big factor because again, if you're
going into church for maintenance, you want to make sure
that your pastor is preaching the word and he's preaching
it properly. You want to make sure that the connection
groups that you again, men's groups. It doesn't have to
be a physical church.

Speaker 3 (48:29):
It can be a small.

Speaker 2 (48:30):
Group, men's group, anything like that, small Bible study, whatever
you're doing. That's all a part of your army. Right
and then the sixth point, and then I'll give you
Chris a chance to I'm gonna let him meditate for
a second, and then I'm gonna let him come back
with and respond. But the sixth fact, the sixth truth,

(48:55):
is you have to know your enemy. Ephesians six twelve
says we did not wrestle against flesh and bud but
against principalities, against powers, the rulers of the darkness of
this age, against spiritual hosts. We've been talking about the enemy.
The enemy is the one that's trying to get you
to you know, he wants you isolated, distracted to where

(49:17):
you can't focus on what gods or danger to do.
Onest Peter five eight through nine says, be sober, be vigilant,
because your adversary, the devil, walks about like a roaring line,
seeking who he may devour. And so and I'm up
through a couple more verses in there, but talking about

(49:39):
your army and your enemy. I'll give you a chance
just to respond. I know I covered some ground there,
but I want to give you a second to kind
of meditate on some of that.

Speaker 1 (49:50):
Knowing your army is I think very very it may
be one of the most important parts of this they're all.
But knowing your army is the same thing as who
are you surrounding yourself with. If you're surrounding yourself with
non godly people, you can expect to lead a non

(50:14):
godly life, which is minus the blessings as well and
the loneliness. I think honestly knowing your enemy, Drew is
I think you have to come to Christ. You have
to understand Jesus, and you have to understand what God
and Jesus taught to really understand the enemy and his ways.

(50:35):
Oh he's not some you know, red faced thing with
a pitchfork in his hand, and this you know tale
with an arrow on the that's that's not him. That's
that's just a made up cartoon of Satan. Satan is
much more diabolical. Satan is much more tricky. He he
He finds ways to manipulate you and trick you into

(50:58):
getting into places and situations that you don't want to be.
When you pick your army and you know that every
one of those people in that army are willing to
go to battle with you, you know you can crush
the enemy at that point. The hardest thing is the isolation.
You need to build this army, and you need to

(51:21):
put into this army, and you need to invest in
this army so they can invest back in you. And
it's a mutual thing where everybody works together for the
good as opposed to if you surround yourself with an
army of non believers, of people that do sinful things
and don't think twice about it, well, that's the army
you're going to be going to battle with, and that's

(51:42):
not a very strong army. So, yeah, I agree with you,
this was amazing. You've got to pick that army and
it's got to have it's got to be christ based,
because if it's not, it has no fulfillment for you. Period.

Speaker 2 (51:55):
Yeah. Well, and you know, we talk a lot about
the spiritual arm of the armor God, but like a
lot of times we walk around and we focus on
our armor. But like your armor, you have to have that.
But at the same time, you know, the Bible talks
about how it takes a village, but like your armor

(52:19):
is only as good as the army that you're fighting with, right,
Like you can have the best armor on the battlefield,
but if you're surrounding yourself with an army that is
not listening to the commander, that they're not following orders,
they're not on the same page as you, they don't
understand the plan. You're just leaving weak spots that the

(52:39):
enemy can attack you all around. And so again, you know,
if you're listening this, don't hear.

Speaker 3 (52:43):
What I'm not saying.

Speaker 2 (52:44):
I'm not saying that you can't hang out with people
that's not Christians or anything like that, like we should
be a light to those people. But you also you
have to use discernment and like, yeah, I'm not saying
go find a job where everybody's Christians or anything, just
put yourself in a bubble. That's not what I'm saying.
What I'm saying is is when it comes to your

(53:06):
inner circle, the people that you're taking advice from, to
tiden in all this, you have to take this into
account because if you're not fighting with the right army,
you're gonna lose the war, right, You're gonna lose the
battle and then ultimately the war. So I actually I'm
gonna scroll down. I'm gonna we're gonna talk about identifying
the enemy real quick or actually, sorry, we're gonna talk

(53:27):
about enemy tactics, and then we're gonna come back up
and talk about different enemies and then we'll be able
to wrap this up. But enemy tactics, now we've covered
this a lot.

Speaker 3 (53:37):
I'm gonna give you.

Speaker 2 (53:38):
Guys a couple of different looks. But tactics that the
enemy uses lies.

Speaker 1 (53:43):
Right.

Speaker 2 (53:44):
John eight forty four says that you are you are
of your father, the devil and the desires of your
father you want to do. He has murdered from the beginning,
does not stand with the truth because there is no
truth in him. Condemnation is another tact if the enemy
uses revelation can be an enemy that the enemy uses.

(54:10):
I mean, devil knows the Bible better than a lot
of Christians, right, So it's like, well, a lot of
times we'll think that we had this great revelation, but
if you don't take that revelation and compare it with scripture,
you could very easily be persuaded in the wrong direction. Right,
Like God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit. God is never going

(54:34):
to contradict scripture. God is never going to contradict scripture.
If you're not sure what to do, you have to
take it and apply it to scripture because the scripture
is truth, right. Temptation is another thing, you know, the
devil oftentimes he doesn't have to tell us to do anything,
He just needs to set it in front of us

(54:54):
and we take debate. Fear is another one. These are
all taxes pactic that the enemy uses. Now we're going
to identify the enemy because it's not always just Satan, right,
A lot of times we just focus on Satan. There's
other forms of enemies within this war. Satan obviously is

(55:15):
the biggest one. John ten ten. We've already read that.
But what about the world? Right, Romans twelve two says,
do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind. Right first, John two fifteen,
do not love the world or the things of the world.
If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is.

Speaker 3 (55:37):
Not in him.

Speaker 2 (55:38):
Oh, Chris, dude, that one's I mean, this is some
heavy stuff. But if anyone, if anyone loves the world,
the love of the Father is not in him. I mean,
we're getting into like discipling to not due but the
world MTV, you know TV itself, you know whatever. The

(56:01):
world is the devil's playground. So even if we're not
loving Satan himself, if we love the fruits of his
labor the world, if we get caught up in the
world and we love the world more than we do
God and our Savior, then that's an enemy, dude. We
have to fight against that. Your peers. Your peers can

(56:24):
often be your enemy, who you go to school with,
who you work with at times, quote unquote Christian friends
that's not in the world and they're not living under
the Holy Spirit, and they're not letting God decide, you know,
dictate their decisions. Even your Christian friends can at times

(56:46):
be a form of an enemy because they're telling you
something and they meanwhile, but they're not telling you something.
From Scripture, you have to use discernment. Proverbs thirteen twenty
says he who walks with a wise and will be wise,
but the companion of fools will be destroyed Matthew sixteen
twenty three. But he turned and said to Peter, get

(57:08):
behind me.

Speaker 3 (57:08):
Satan.

Speaker 2 (57:09):
You are an offense to me, and you're not mindful
of the things of God, but the things of men.
Another enemy can be your own personal flesh. Right, We
fight flesh every single day. I mean our own flesh,
our own fleshly desires. You know, we hear it all
the time. Do what makes you happy, You do what's

(57:30):
best for you. Right, Well, our nature is to sin,
so we if we bow to our flesh, we're gonna
ultimately lead down that path of destruction, which, like we said,
the devil wants to kill, still and destroy if we
lead on our you know, the Bible says leading not
on your own understanding. Right if we're trying to lean
on our own understanding, we're trying to lean on ourself.

(57:54):
Our flesh can let us down. We have to fight
against that. And another thing I'm gonna add Now this
sounds similar to flesh, but I'm gonna tweak it in
a different way. Our flesh, our sinful nature, is one thing.

(58:14):
But to be honest, due a lot of times we
are our biggest enemy. We listen to the devil satan
and we try to focus on our faults, our failures
where we screw up, and dude, we're gonna screw up
every single day. It is what it is. But there's
a difference between living a godly life right, a life

(58:37):
that has the breath of the Holy Spirit on it,
and making a mistake, Like, just because you make a
mistake that we are sinners, But that doesn't mean that
we have to live a sinful life. Right, So a
lot of times we beat ourselves up. We're our biggest
enemy because we're we want to focus on what we
did wrong, and oh, I messed this up, and here

(58:59):
I am God, I'm asking for forgiveness. And you know,
it's just like my six year old daughter, Dude, she
does stuff sometimes that's like, you know, I'll go to
the bathroom and there's like soap smeared on the mirror.
She knows she's not supposed to do it. And then
when I pointed out to her, and then when I
pointed out to her, I'm like, why'd you do that?
She's like, I don't know. Well, you know you're not

(59:20):
supposed to do that, right. Yeah, doesn't mean I love
her any less, you know. And I tell her all
the time, I don't care what it is. Don't lie
to me, just tell me the truth. I want to
know the truth. And there's sometimes where I already know
what she did before she ever tells me. And I
asked her to tell me what she did because I

(59:40):
want her to be honest. With me and tell me
what she did. But I want to make sure that
she's going to tell me the truth. And even though
she messed up, that's more important to me is like, Hey,
you know you messed up, you know you did wrong.
Don't lie to me. And God is no different. We think,
oh a thousand times just today, God, I'm so sick

(01:00:03):
of coming back to you and asking what's the point
of asking for repentance. What's the point of praying to
you and admitting to Where I find the point is
because he loves us. And when we mess up, if
we don't go to him and rectify that, that creates distance,
and that's what the devil wants. Sin is separation.

Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
It just separates us.

Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
It's like and then I'll wrap it up with this
and I'll give you a chance to respond.

Speaker 3 (01:00:28):
But like.

Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
Sin is like if we have a white shirt, that
one little sin. It's like if we took a sharpie
and just you know, hit that shirt with it, or
we stain that shirt, that sin is just a stain.
And although God knows we're going to mess up, sin
is what separates us if we don't bring it to him,
why ie that slate clean we're just getting further and

(01:00:52):
further separated, and that shirt is just becoming more and
more stained. The only way to remove that separation is
that constant contact with God. Repentance is just a form
of praying to God and staying on the same page
with him. Like I said, it's no different than my
six year old. Right, even though there's times I already

(01:01:14):
know what she did before she admits it to me.
I want her to apologize to me so that I
know that she does wrong, she felt bad about it,
and we can have that closeness. I don't want her
to go off do bad things and feel like she
can't talk to me. So, like I said, I'll give
you a chance to respond and then you know, we'll

(01:01:35):
kind of tie a bot on this. And this is
the first over five parter, but we're going to wrap
it up.

Speaker 3 (01:01:40):
Well.

Speaker 1 (01:01:41):
We've been met with this much spiritual warfare through any
of our podcasts before either, so we know that this
one was an important one. I'd just say in wrapping
up for myself through closing, everything you hit on here
is that it's on It's right where it needs to be.
The topic of suicide is a very very hard topic.

(01:02:04):
For not only the people who suffer from those thoughts,
but the families who know that the family members suffer
from those thoughts. It's torture for both. And so you've
got to number one. You've got to not isolate. I
think that is the biggest problem. Is isolation leads to depression,

(01:02:27):
and then you get in your own thoughts because well,
you don't have anything else going into your head, so
you have your own thoughts to sit there and mash
over and dwell on. That's a terrible idea. So get involved,
Get around some positive people, Get around people who are
going to invest in you. And I truly believe that

(01:02:47):
with God working in your life, those thoughts and those
urges are going to become less and less and less
the more you realize you're loved not just by God,
but by God oddly people as well. I don't care
who you are, I don't care what your past is.
I don't care what you've done in the past. That's

(01:03:10):
not what matters. What matters is where is your heart today.
Tomorrow hasn't come yet, it's not promised. The Lord's not
going to promise us tomorrow. Right. It could be the
last day for any one of us or all of us.
So you've got to get connected with God, and you've
got to get connected with people who want to build

(01:03:31):
into you. And I want to build into you. Drew
wants to build into you. This subject hurts me, and
I've said it before on the other episodes. It hurts
me deeply because there's no reason for it when you
have God in your life. And I know that if
you don't believe in God, or you've never accepted Jesus

(01:03:52):
Christ as your Lord and savior, you've heard about religion,
you've heard about Christianity or whatever, I urge you to
try it. Give it a shot. Give God a chance.
If you've never given him a chance before in your
life and you're struggling with this topic, give God a chance.
I think you'll see he's going to do great things

(01:04:13):
in your life and that you do have a purpose
and you do have meaning, and he does love you,
and he does want you to live a life of abundance.
But you have to pick your friends, you have to
pick your battles. It's a hard road. Like Drew started
off with this in the beginning, it's a very very
hard road. You think that, oh, you know, We've got
this awesome, all powerful God who can do anything. Well,

(01:04:35):
yeah he can, but he can also give us free
will because he loves us that much. So read your Bible.
If you don't have a Bible, I can almost guarantee
you can go to the nearest church where you live
and they would be more than happy to hand you
a Bible and start reading and start trying to understand

(01:04:55):
who this Jesus is. Try to understand who God really is,
because I promise you people, it's not a fairy tale.
Everything in this book is for real and it's proven
over and over again archaeology, everything else. So all I
would say is we've said this before. If you're having

(01:05:17):
a hard time, if you're going through that dark moment,
you can reach out on our Facebook messenger. I will respond,
I will talk to you. I will do whatever it
takes to let you understand that Jesus loves you. And
because I have Jesus and me, I love you too.

Speaker 2 (01:05:36):
Yeah. I'm gonna go ahead and get you guys started
to If you're not a believer, you've never read the Bible,
you're not sure where to start. I always tell people
to start with the.

Speaker 3 (01:05:46):
Gospel of John.

Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
And there's a lot of people that when they're talking
to new believers and people that's interested, they say, oh,
go to the Book of Matthew. Well, look in Matthew
starts with a bunch of genealogies.

Speaker 3 (01:05:58):
That's a heart.

Speaker 2 (01:05:59):
That's a hard place for somebody to start everywhere. And
I mean, I don't want to say it like this,
but I think that a lot of times Christians will
just say that because they don't really know what they're saying.
And I think in a lot of times they don't
actually read the Bible enough. They just say, oh, yeah,

(01:06:19):
I go to the Book of Matthew because it sounds good.
But I'm gonna go ahead and start you off. And
this and this is, this is gonna be We're gonna
leave it off. But John one says, in the beginning
was the Word, and the Word was with God, and
the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
Through him, all things were made. Without him, nothing was

(01:06:41):
made that's been made. In him was life, and that
life was the light of all mankind. That light shines
in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome. Now
where they're saying the word, it's talking about Jesus. Now
for those of you, that's okay. So who you know,
what's the big what's the big deal with? I can't

(01:07:05):
spell and talk at the same time, you're like, okay,
what's the big deal with this Jesus? It says in
the beginning was the word and the words with God,
and the word was God. I'm talking about Jesus. When
you go to Genesis twenty six, then God said, let

(01:07:29):
us make mankind in our own image and our likeness,
so that they may roll over the fish in the sea.
Then God said, let us make mankind in our image,
in our likeness. So John one one says, Jesus was

(01:07:51):
there in the beginning. You go to Genesis. Who's that
talking about?

Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
So I'm going to leave you guys on that cliffhanger.
But the reason and while we focus so much on
Jesus is because he is the Way, He is the truth,
and he is the light. If you're living in darkness,
you have to go towards the light. So I encourage you.
If you guys are not believers, you never read the Bible.

(01:08:16):
If you just stumbled on this because of a YouTube
search or Google search or whatever, go to the Book
of John. If you're at the end of your rope,
go to the Book of John and just read through
the Book of John. And then if you have any questions,
feel free to reach out. Like Chris said, one of
us will respond. I've essentially dedicated the rest of my

(01:08:38):
life to trying to disciple people to get to know
the Lord that I love and serve. So that's all
I have. We finally wrapped up this series. It was
touch and go there for a second. I was looking
at the time. I was like, nah, I think we
need it, But we did it?

Speaker 1 (01:08:54):
Mean can they do it?

Speaker 3 (01:08:57):
Yes? So me and Chris love.

Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
You, guys, probably more than you realize.

Speaker 1 (01:09:09):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
This has been episode number forty two of the Unreligious Podcast.

Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
I am Big drew Ski and I am Chris and we're.

Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
Gonna head on out of here.

Speaker 3 (01:09:19):
Guys, take it easy

Speaker 1 (01:09:21):
See you next week.
