Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, Faxs, and welcome back to another jam packed show
for you today, this twelfth day of December. We have
a ton of crime related topics we're going to talk
about today, including a family that is suing Royal Caribbean
Cruise Line after a man allegedly was served thirty three
(00:20):
drinks and died aboard the cruise ship. We're going to
tell you about a tragedy in Arkansas where a mother
and her twins are found dead amid a very messy
divorce and custody battle with her a strange partner who
is a prominent doctor in the Arkansas area. I'm gonna
bring you a little closer to home in Louisiana, where
(00:41):
a ten year old boy jumped from a vehicle after
a carjacker takes his mother's suv. We're gonna go to
Florida and discuss a murder charge for two teenagers in
connection to the death of a fourteen year old girl.
And in New Jersey, a Santa and former elementary school
(01:02):
teacher is arrested for possession of child sex abuse images.
In South Carolina, it's drugs and crab legs that are
on the menu for inmates who are delivered a feast
via drone right to their prison. Pretty wild story there,
and another Louisiana prison escape, this time in Saint Landry Parish,
(01:26):
leaves one still on the run as of this recording.
To cover those topics and more, you got to listen
to Crime Wire Weekly today.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
I'm Jim Chapman and I'm Kelly Jennings.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Kelly, we're closing in on Christmas fast.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
I know, I'm excited.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Y'all done shopping?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
No, No, I'm never done shopping.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Christmas or not.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
No, that's just what we do. Actually, I started years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
I shop all year long, actually, and then I put
it away so and I found that.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
It works wonderfully for me.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Yeah, that's smart, and you can hit.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Sales and be you know, reasonable about things that you know,
it's just not the Christmas holiday.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
It just hit me, I don't know, a few years ago.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
I figured that out when I had by the time
I had three children, I was like, you know, instead
of dropping all this money in one two months, why
not do it?
Speaker 1 (02:13):
You're around, Yeah, boy, you got some them kids be spailled.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Yeah, indeed, listen, you're round. Listen.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Life is short, and if I have the ultimate goal
that when I'm dead and gone, that my kids sit
around the chair or the table and they reminisce about
how awesome Christmas was, And so I'm making it happen
and Daddy, Daddy's making it happen to you.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
There you have it.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
What about y'all?
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Uh? I wish I could say, yeah, oh yeah, I'm done.
Everything's rap. A few things have been bought, but you know,
I'm typical dude. Last minute, I mean, like three days
before I'm like, and Amazon, Yeah, can they make it
in the next three days? And do I need to
go not to shot.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
Like belabor the point or anything.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
But my kids and I all sat down too, and
we wrapped all our teacher gifts for Christmas last night.
And they were so excited to do it and had
so much joy in their hearts. And you want to
pass that on.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Yeah, yeah, no doubt about it. All Right, Well, let's
get into some crime related news for today.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
I'm ready.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
We're going to start off telling you about Royal Caribbean
cruise line.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
There is still say Caribbean.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
How do you say Caribbean. I think it's either.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Or well, I think Royal Caribbean goes to the Caribbean.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
It's possible. Well, Potato patah, you're right, all right. The
family of a thirty five year old man who died
aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise after allegedly being served thirty
three alcoholic beverages has filed a lossuit seven months after
an autopsy ruled his death a homicide. Michael Virgil, who
(03:48):
is thirty five, and his family boarded Royal Caribbean's Navigator
of the Seas in Los Angeles. This was way back
in December of twenty twenty four for a four day
used to in Sinata, Mexico, a trip they intended to
be a fun vacation. What began as a routine departure
(04:09):
quickly unrivaled, the lawsuit said, after an onboard incident involving
security that would later become the center of a legal battle.
The family, which includes Virgil's longtime fiance and their young
son who has autism, has filed a wrongful death complaint
in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
(04:31):
The lawsuit alleges the cruise line is responsible for his death,
claiming he was overserved and then subjected to what it
called an excessive use of force and fatal actions taken
by the crew members. According to that complaint, the family
was directed to a bar with live music because their
cabin was not ready. As they waited, Virgil's seven year
(04:53):
old son grew restless and left with his mother to
go check the room. Now that left Virgil alone. The
lawsuit claimed within hours of the ship's departure, crew members
were negligent in serving him at least thirty three alcoholic drinks,
after which he became intoxicated, you think, and increasingly agitated.
(05:13):
While trying to locate his cabin, Security and crew members
allegedly tackled and restrained Virgil, compressing his body until he
stopped moving. The complaints said that, at the direction of
the staff captain, the crew injected him with the sedative haliparadol.
I think is how that's pronounced. And you used three cans,
(05:34):
three cans of pepper spray, three cans, hen three cans, man,
that whole boat must have been full of pepper spray,
like just.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
Real quick, even in prison, Like when you spray somebody,
you have to do it in so many second bursts
so that you don't overuse the spray and you have
to document the bursts.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
They acted like they was spraying glade.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
Damn, I don't even get crazy with liesol.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
The Sea said that the combination of restraints, sedative use,
and pepper spray caused significant hypoxia, impaired ventilation, respiratory failure,
cardiovascular instability, and ultimately cardiopulmonary arrest. The medical examiner later
world that death a homicide. The medical examiner wrote the
(06:18):
cause of death was from the combined effects of medical asphyxia, obesity,
cardio myopathy no cardio megalae.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
You should be a doctor, Jim.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
I'm gonna get clowned on this one in the comments,
and ethanol intoxication. The report also said the injury occurred
from the body compression during restraint by multiple ship security
personnel and ingestion of ethanol. Virgil's body remained refrigerated on
board until the ship returned to Los Angeles two days later.
(06:57):
Michael's family has suffered unimaged well, heartache and torment caused
by Royal Care being crews that from the attorney, what
we're supposed to We're supposed to be a beautiful family
vacation came to an unimaginable tragic end due to the
way the situation was handled. Courses is from the attorney
(07:17):
for the family, you know, and he's gonna certainly spend
things his way. The complaint also notes Virgil purchase the
Deluxe Beverage Package, which gives passengers access to nearly all
of the ship's drink offerings for free, you know, for
that one price, not for free. But a little bit
(07:37):
of a problem there, you know. I saw some comments
originally when this story was posted online, and they were
kind of saying, hey, he fafo' he got really drunk
and got belligerent. But I mean, thirty three drinks. You
got to know when to cut a man off too
or a woman for that.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Yeah, you would kind of think just because of the
amount of money they have. I mean, listen, I know
people have it's their responsibility to take care of themselves,
but once you become impaired, that kind of goes out
the window.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
Is that judgment? Certainly, at least mine gets clouted Garan
Kelly where other people's clothes.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
Okay, they don't know that.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
And I don't know why we were just talking about this,
I said, Man, I get I get so happy. I
ended up coming home with an extra vest on one
time because.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Yeah, I was like where they held this cup was
adding closed.
Speaker 3 (08:26):
But uh, you know, it seems like their system would
at least flag if so many drinks have been served
in such a short amount of time, even if you
connected throughout the ship, just as a safeguard for themselves.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
It seems like that would be an in you know,
in there. But another thing.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Too, is that hal a paat all specifically it's specifically
it says you should not have alcohol while you're taking
this because it leaves. It can lead to your central
nervous system completely shutting down. But it caused both drinking
and that medication will drop your blood pressure. So whoever
made that call to give him that, Uh, I don't
(09:02):
think that they were well advised.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Yeah, I know you're dropping your blood pressure. It seems
like they were trying to calm him down, like sedatium.
That's what it said in the Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
But but sedation has to be safe. I mean, if
you if alcohol induced, you know what I'm saying, Like,
there's got to be They've got to look at the
counterintuitiveness of what they're doing.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
I just I'm curious who oversaw that.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
I don't mean to get too techy here, but like technical,
I mean, but I wonder who oversaw that and could
make that command because they're not doctors.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Oh, they've got doctors on those ships. Medical doctors. I
had to see one one time.
Speaker 3 (09:36):
No, I know that, but they said, this is the
crew captain that directed that correct or is that the restraint?
Speaker 1 (09:42):
I think the restrained? I don't. I don't think they
specified who directed the shot.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Well, and then you have photos here print out where
he is like looks like he's punching at a wall.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
He's a big old boy too.
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Yeah, right, which played a part I'm sure as well.
I mean, yeah, you're not. You're not backing one hundred
and twenty five pound kid, right, you know this man
looks every bit of three hundred pounds.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Right.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
But regardless, it suggests here, if you weren't overserved to
that extent, maybe this situation could have been possibly.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Avoided, so that I agree with.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Yeah, I mean, just while thirty three drinks, what kind
of drinks? It couldn't have been thirty three shots? I
mean because a blood alcohol content based on something I
just skimmed over said it was point one something I
mean what, I know, that's what's weird.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
About it to me.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
That doesn't do I know math.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
I know it's not math and the math is it mathing?
Speaker 3 (10:32):
But if they were super weak drinks, maybe some of
the drinks they did realize were not he was overserved.
Maybe they were giving him drinks they didn't have alcohol
and it maybe that's one of their procedural things.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
I don't know. That seems like it would be smart.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yeah, that's good. I didn't noticee alcohol content.
Speaker 3 (10:47):
That's in right, Well, it just was posted yesterday. That
was the New York Post that said that. Again, so
I don't know. You know, I haven't vetted that. I
was just looking while you were talking. And that's not
mathing to me either. So wouldn't that be genius though,
if they were serving him drinks that did not have
alcohol in it because he was over served.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
It was like a placebo. Yeah he was drunk.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Yeah, but he paid for a package of unlimited drinks.
They just gone on, Yeah, here's you some orange juice, sir. Yeah,
this is a screw screwdriver.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Yeah. I don't mean to laugh. I mean, the poor
guy's dead, but it is damn Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
Sure he had a family.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Yeah, so let's go to Arkansas now where a heartbreaking
incident occurred in Bonanza, Arkansas this past week, where a
mother and her six year old twins were found deceased
in their home. And this tragic event unfolded during an
ongoing divorce and custody battle which has raised concerns about
domestic violence. Authorities discovered the bodies of forty year old
Charity Bialis and her children during a welfare check at
(11:44):
their residence, and that home was valued at approximately seven
hundred and sixty thousand dollars situated near the Oklahoma border. Now,
Charity's exchanged estranged partner, doctor Randall Bialis, has a documented
history of domestic abuse. In March, he faced legal action
for allegedly choking his wife, leading to charges that included
aggravated assault and domestic battery. Ultimately, and this is wild
(12:08):
to me, he pled guilty to a lesser offense of
third degree battery, resulting in a suspended sentence and a
court ordered fee that exceeded fifteen hundred dollars. Shortly thereafter,
Charity filed for divorce and sought sole custody of the children.
The discovery followed closely after a divorce hearing at the
Sebastian County Courthouse, where it was reported that doctor Billis
(12:31):
had been awarded joint custody of the twins. This decision
added further complexity to an already tumultuous situation. In an
emotional post on social media during the summer, Charity voiced
her fears regarding her safety and the welfare of her children.
She linked her experiences to the ongoing discussion about domestic violence,
emphasizing the systemic issues that she felt shielded her estranged husband.
(12:54):
This is a direct quote. I am the victim, yet
I've been treated like the problem, while the criminal, a
local doctor, is being shielded by the very system that's
supposed to protect us. Highlighting her attempts to communicate her
concerns to law enforcement officials who she felt were not responsive.
Charity's family has since expressed their belief that doctor Balis
may be responsible for the deaths, speculating possible motives related
(13:17):
to financial gain. Following the incident, doctor Balis's legal counsel
indicated cooperation with law enforcement, expressing a hope that the
investigation would clarify the circumstances surrounding the tragic event, adding
a poignant layer to the narrative. One of Charity's oldest
children remarked on her struggles, stating, my mother fought for
nine months to save her life and them babies, and
(13:40):
nothing happened. This situation is echoed by disturbing details regarding
doctor Biallis's past. His first wife died under controversial circumstances
in twenty twelve, officially recorded as a suicide, though her
family contests this account.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Yeah, and you know, in this situation, uh, the his
it's important, and he hasn't been charged with anything yet.
But the history dictates that I'm trying to tell Kelly
to turn the page.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Oh I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I thought you were talking
with your hands.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
So the history dictates here that this guy certainly has
a past.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
And if I in a past where some violence was involved,
he got an ex wife or or whatever that committed suicide.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
Uh yeah, And look, people don't change their colors here.
And if he is involved in her demise here, I
noticed that his attorneys didn't emphatically say my client is innocent.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
They didn't say any of that. They said, we are
cooperating and whatever.
Speaker 3 (14:47):
So I'll say this third degree, this third degree injury
that he pled down to, that still means that there
was is in Louisiana, at least you've caused injury to
somebody and choking someone. That actually ups the domestic abuse
charge because in Louisiana, you know, it's domestic violence with strangulation,
(15:09):
and they add that specifically because you strangle somebody, you're
cutting off their air supply. You are taking away their
ability to survive if you continue with that. So I
don't I'm not sure why he was allowed to it,
says Plea down. So again, it's a different state and
I haven't looked it up, but definitely sounds like she
was suffering long before her ultimate demise.
Speaker 2 (15:32):
And the twins, it's a little boy and a little girl.
Yeah kid, and she's a beautiful woman.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
And a doctor. I mean, someone that financially it seemed
to be was in a great position. But it just
goes to show you that, yeah, I'm just financial status
doesn't dictate your happiness.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
And the fact that he was arrested tells me a lot.
Speaker 3 (15:54):
In former because there's a mugshot of him in his
orange shirt. I think that is I think that's a
prison jumpsuit. They're probably from the original domestic violence situation.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
But I would not be surprised.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
I don't know, but I would not be surprised if
this does not turn unfavorable for him.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Yeah, certainly a lot of circumstantial stuff going on. All right,
Let's go to South Carolina and four people are accused
of setting up hidden cameras at a woman's home. Their
names are Adam Midget, M I, DG. E. T. T.
So I'm not being politically correct here, forty three, Rana Midget,
(16:37):
Matthews fifty one, Bonnie Midget, and Rebecca Broom. They're all
in their forties and fifties, with the exception of Bonnie Midget,
who is seventy four. Each are charged with voyeurism. And
we've talked about many stories with this issue lately. Adam
Midget is security. I'm sorry, that's just a I feel
(16:58):
weird saying that name, but dding he could be French.
He's a security operations coordinator with the Charleston County School
District and he is also an Edistowe Beach Patrol officer.
Edistowe Beach Police Chief Daniel Seal said that Adam Midget
(17:19):
has been placed on administrative leave without pay. Investigators said
that Adam Midget's wife discovered a black camera lying behind
the couch in the living room pointed towards the front
door that appeared to be recording people entering the residents.
So she basically notices that. She also noticed the air
(17:42):
conditioning vent on the ceiling looks slightly ajar. That could
be a definite sign something's going on while she was
laying on the bed. The next day, officers were reported
finding three additional cameras, one camera outside the home, a
camera on the balcony pointed towards their bedroom, and a
camera attacked to a pickup truck registered to Adam Midget.
(18:03):
The woman said she purchased an SD card reader to
confirm that she had recorded both inside and outside of
her house. Investigator said she identified four people shown in
the footage installing the cameras that I would say that's
some pretty good evidence. It's right as her ex husband,
Adam Rana, Adam Midget's sister Bonnie, and Adam Midget's mother,
(18:26):
and Rebecca Broome, a family friend, were installing all this stuff,
the woman said. Adam Midgett also added himself as an
authorized user on her son's cell phone plan, which granted
him access to her call records. She said she had
access to text messages that shed his involvement in installing
the cameras. And all four suspects are currently being held
(18:49):
at the Charleston County Jail.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
Mom, and there's photos of these of this motley crew.
But mom and sister. You can tell who's related, who's
the family friend. But Mama's sister looked the same age.
That's interesting to me. Yeah, they look the same, but
they looked like him. And you know, it doesn't say
much about their marital status, but it looks.
Speaker 2 (19:11):
Like he thought she was cheating.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
Yeah, maybe I mean, or he's stalking her to that point,
is what I'm saying. That he's trying to catch her
doing something. I don't know why your family would get involved,
thinking that they're gonna, you know, be helpful in something.
What I mean, what's going on?
Speaker 1 (19:28):
Well, and I noticed her, you know, it said that
he got put on her son's cell phone plan. He
kind of manipulated his way into that. Maybe it was
some sort of custidy thing, and he was trying to
prove that she was unfit.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
Oh, it's something like that ex husband. I was reading
that as husband, so that's probably part of it. But
my goodness, how did he have access to the home
to do all of that? Like m I have so
many questions you.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
I mean, it was all set up outside though.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
No one was in the the air vent right above her.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Bet well, there was one, that's right, there was one inside,
but the majority of them were outside of the home.
Speaker 2 (20:08):
That's creepy.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
And then and then he's the supervisor in the school district.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Doing all that.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Like look, I mean with technology, a lot of this stuff,
you know, outside of this incident, A lot of this
shit happens when it's people that you don't even know.
I'm gonna tell you what. Airbnbs. If you get an Airbnb,
you better check every corner of that Airbnb because people
can install shit you would never think was a camera,
(20:36):
looks like a smoke detector and it's you know, I
check it out.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
I'm not big on Airbnbs. I'm gonna be honest.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
I've never stayed in one. I know friends that do
that love them and that you know they can be
great deals. I've just never stayed in one. So I
can't say I have.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
And it was cool, but I just, you know, I
always think everybody's I don't know, I think everybody's weird,
including me, and so I'm always like, what's going on?
Speaker 2 (21:00):
Like you know, you don't. I don't want to be paranoid,
but it's like, are the sheets clean? Are the you know?
Speaker 1 (21:07):
It might be something you want the internet call.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
My family laughs at me though, because like when we
go on vacation, first thing I do is a sweep
of the house.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
Man.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
I go through, looking through like every cabinet, every door,
every everything.
Speaker 2 (21:19):
And one time there was wrong with that. There was this.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
Third story bedroom up there and I'm like looking around
and there's a little door behind a cabinet that was
in there like a movable chest, and my sister's like,
what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (21:31):
I was like, hold on, you know what.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
I like pushed the chest and I opened the little
door and I found their Heidi hole for all their
cleaning supplies, like all the extras, the little shampoos and stuff.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
It was the hole.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
I think you covered too much crime.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
But I got that extra pall milive. I used it.
We had some clean dishes.
Speaker 3 (21:51):
All right, Let's move on to Florida, and this incident
here has sent shockwaves through the community. Two teenagers from
Florida have been charged with pre meditated murder in connection
with the death of a fourteen year old girl.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
The Santa Rosa County.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
Sheriff's Office reports that sixteen year old Gabriel Williams and
fourteen year old Kamari Blevins allegedly lured the young victim
her name was Danica. I think it's Danica, or it
could be Danika. I don't know exactly how you would
say that Troy, into a secluded area where they shot
her multiple times before attempting to dispose of her body.
The investigation began when Danica's mother, Ashley Troy, reported her
(22:27):
daughter missing, along with her electric scooter, which had disappeared
from their residence. In a grim discovery made days later,
authorities found a charred body approximately fifty yards or into
the woods. Alongside the remains, the deputies located a black
and red electric scooter and nine millimeters shell casings. The
remains were identified as Danica's through her clothing and the
(22:49):
scooter's description. According to information provided by a witness cooperating
with the investigation, It's alleged that Williams and Blevins had
premeditated the act with intentions to shoot her intentionally just once. However,
Williams reportedly confessed to firing multiple shots and later igniting
the body. He expressed to detectives that Danica's earlier comments
(23:11):
had provoked his reaction. During police questioning, Blevins opted to
seek legal counsel and was subsequently taken into custody as well. Currently,
both individuals are detained by the Department of Juvenile Justice,
while investigations are underway to accumulate further evidence, particularly pertaining
to Williams's specific role in the incident. In response to
(23:32):
this event, the Santa Rosa County School District issued at
heartbelt statement expressing their condolences over the loss of Danica,
who was a student at the district or within the district.
The district acknowledged that the two suspects are also students
and confirmed their commitment to fully cooperating with law enforcement efforts.
As part of their response, additional counseling and support services
(23:52):
have been made available for students and staff affected by
the tragedy. And you're looking at these pictures or the
mug shots of the these are kids, man.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Yeah, just obviously horrible, tragic. I'd be curious to know how.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
They got the guns, that's my question too.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Uh. And then you know they try to hide the
body after they did it, so yeah, probably planned out. Yeah,
absolutely in advance. There's not a ton of details out there.
This is trending heavy on you know online right now.
Unexplainable and horrible. This poor fourteen year old.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
Yeah, two boys that are going to go attack one girl.
And then something she said at the scene is why
he shot her multiple times. Yeah, I'm sure she was
bucking up when she realized there was a problem.
Speaker 2 (24:44):
Yeah, you know, and.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
These look like normal teen y'all will post the mudshots
on the Facebook page, but just look like normal everyday kids. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
I'll be interested on this one to know the story.
There's got to be more to.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
This, all right.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
Well, let's go to you Louisiana, you know, and we're
gonna try to bring a few more to Louisiana stories
because we want to be Louisiana centric, right that we
stay in Louisiana sometimes, you know, because we are Louisiana people, right. Uh,
that's a inside joke for whoever posted the comment.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
They posted, Yeah, somebody, I know, I'm going to tell
the people I don't care.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
We're all friends here.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
Somebody posted a nasty comment about our show.
Speaker 2 (25:26):
And said we need to be Louisiana centric. Like, we
know what. We never said Louisiana Crime Weekly. We said crime.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
That's right. We talk about crime all.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Over you know what. Everybody counts every state.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
Every state, but we are going to Louisiana for this one.
And a ten year old boy was recovered unhurt on
this past Monday after leaping out of his parents moving
suv during an alleged carjacking in Kenner, which y'all Kenner
for those not from Louisiana's right outside of New Orleans. Uh.
The dangerous drama star already around one forty five pm
(26:02):
when Kenner police saved thirty six year old Mackenzie Switzer
pulled into a parking lot. This is on Veterans Boulevard,
major thoroughfare in that area. She was in a Chevrolet
Malibu or he rather was in a Chevrolet Malibu Boo
that he had already stolen from New Orleans. Police said
Switzer abandoned the stolen Malibu and climbed into a Nissan
(26:25):
road that had been left running in the same parking lot.
Switzer allegedly stole that vehicle, driving off the victim's ten
year old son steal inside. Authority said the young boy
acted quickly and courageously, opening the door and jumping out
of the moving vehicle to safety. Police said the boy
was uninjured and officers were able to track the stolen suv.
(26:47):
And this was kind of the cool part. The kid
was smart enough to leave his cell phone behind. The
cell phone had like Life three point sixty installed, and
so his mother was able to pull that up see
exactly where that vehicle was going. Police said the stolen
rogue was tracked to a Metory car dealership, where Switzer
(27:08):
allegedly was found trying to enter another vehicle belonging to
the business, and at that point he was taken into custody.
Switzer was booked by Kinner police with illegal possession of
stolen things, carjacking, simple kidnapping in some traffic violations, that's hilarious.
They probably gave him like speeding or running a stop
sign or something just to stack charges.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
There was no resisting on there.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
There is not. But if you look at the mudshot.
It sure looks like he might have resisted. Kinner. Police
reminded murturists never to leave a vehicle running unattended, especially
with children inside.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Yeah, someone assisted him to the ground.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
I'm assuming that arrest because he's got blood going down
the side of his face.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
But you know, I don't blame mom here. I mean,
you're just running into the store to grab something. He's ten,
it's not like he's an infant, and you know these
things happened. But I would suggest locking the doors even
if you, you know, if you're just going to run.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
In, I say, don't leave your kid in the car.
And I'm gonna say this. I got three of my
never left my kid in a vehicle to run inside
a store. Ever, I'm too paranoid. Man. Well you're looking
and pulling dressers out of an Airbnb, but you'll leave
your kid in the car.
Speaker 3 (28:17):
Well, I'm just saying if she was just running in
to grab a candy bar, so that can happen, it
did happen. I'm just saying, I don't blame mom. I
don't think she was being neglectful or anything. I blame
this bad guy. This bad guy who did the ultimate Now,
little boy, listen to me right now. That is an
epic story. I hope you tell that everywhere you go.
(28:37):
How you dove out of this moving vehicle and I'm
so glad you were smart enough to take matters into
your own hands and get the hell out of.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
Dodge and leave yourself.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
Awesome, leave that phone behind. That's a be a cop boy.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Yeah, maybe that's a you know things to come.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Yeah, man, quick on your feet, that's awesome. And then
mama's just tracking down what a team. Their Halloween costume
better be like superhero. Yeah, they're a dynamic duo.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
That's awesome.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
All right, let's go to New Jersey now, where a
retired school teacher who now works as a seasonal Santa
Claus character has been arrested in New Jersey for alleged
possession of child sex abuse images. Mark Poulino, sixty four,
has been charged with one count of second degree distribution
of child sexual abuse material, one count of second degree
possession with the intent to distribute the child sexual abuse material,
(29:27):
and one count of third degree possession of child sexual
abuse material, and one count of endangering the welfare of
a child. Detectives with the prosecutors Internet Crimes against Children
Unit learned of the inappropriate material belonging to the Hamilton
Township resident on December fourth, Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta Marbray
said due to Paulino's active engagement with young children as
(29:49):
a Santa character who is available for photographs and private
corporate and organizational events, detectives worked around the clock to
obtain a search warrant and kudos to them for that
they recognize.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
This community danger.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
Paulino is also said to have recently retired from the
Hamilton Township School District as an elementary school teacher, which
is scary according to prosecutors. A website believed to be
Paulino says he is quote recently retired from the Hamilton
Township School District as an elementary school teacher and is
now a Sana character available for photographs.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
And private corporate and organizational events.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
On Friday the December the fifth, the Prosecutor's office obtained
a search warrant with assistants from the prosecutors Economic Crimes,
Cybercrimes and Domestic Violence units and the Hamilton Police Swat Team.
Marbray said authorities were able to seize multiple items of
evidentiary value as he was taken into custody without incident.
If convicted, the retired school teacher should face or could
(30:46):
face up to ten years in state prison and a
fine of up to one hundred and fifty thousand dollars
for his second degree offenses. The investigation remains ongoing.
Speaker 1 (30:55):
And if you look at the picture of this guy,
of course we'll post it. He looks like he look
like Santa Claus. He does like he ain't the one
that has to wear a beard. He grew the beard
and he looks like him. But you know, it's sad
that you got to worry even about that. Well, he
can't even take your kids get a picture with saying
(31:16):
them more because he might be a peak.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
And what about the parents that are going, oh my god,
he taught my kid, my kid in his custody for
you know, a year, and maybe he didn't do anything,
but he sure was interested. I mean, he's got the
material on his computer or wherever they got it from.
So that's that would be very damaging to me as
a parent to wonder, you know, one.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Hundred percent what could have happened. Yeah, but it just
don't seem like you know, whether this was an issue
or not. When I was growing up, you never heard
stories like this. Now it seems like every Christmas we're
covering a story of some perverted saying.
Speaker 3 (31:56):
Well, and I take my kids to Basspro for pictures
with Santa, and I know notice last year, and I was,
because you know, you pay attention to things. I noticed
last year the kids do sit on the lap of Santa.
But I noticed that his hands stayed closed and his
hands where his arms are like kind of out around
the kids, but hands closed, And I thought, I thought
he must have some type of special training or advisement
(32:18):
on doing this, because celebrities also, i've learned, do some
type of training if they're smart with their care team
or whatever that whenever they take pictures, you'll notice they'll
have their hands open. A lot of times, males will
have their hands open and up around like the shoulder
area when they take the photographs, so that they're not
accused of groping or touching too low or something like that.
(32:40):
And I think that would be important too. If you're
in If you do these things with children, that's sad,
but just to protect yourself, you know that maybe positionally
you'd be very careful.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
Well, even police officers are trained when they do, you know, searches,
when they search somebody for their throw them in the
cop corp for example, the these back of their hand.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
Especially when you're searching a few you can't grab right well,
and because you're female.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
Or male, huh it want nobody grabbing my jump well?
Speaker 3 (33:11):
No, but like pocket, whenever you're searching somebody's that's my.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
Dog, sir. There's a there's a video. There's actually a
video of that that I'm where a guy was. It's
on video and he with the cop was checking him
and he goes, what is this and he goes, it's
my dick.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Yeah, yeah, I've seen it with a They have one
with a girl that she says, that's my who, and
it was a girl searching her and she's like, no,
you've got something in there. She's like, no, I got
a fat who.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
She tells, well, here's the deal.
Speaker 3 (33:46):
Like, when we search pockets, you're going to use your
fingers because you're trying to manipulate anything that's in the pocket.
It's not technically a search if you're just kind of checking,
you know, the pockets but if you're going to go
near private areas, that's when you use the back of
the hand because you're that you can feel are on
the front of your fingers. But when you're doing just
a pie.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
You can't grab from the back, so no one can
accuse you of grabbing the stuff.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
So like females when you're checking, because females can hide
in their brawl anything. You know, lots of things could
be hidden in there, and so you're you're you're checking,
but you're not grabbing.
Speaker 1 (34:17):
Right. There, you go, there, you go. Right, let's go
to South Carolina. And this is gonna be a short
but sweet one because it's something that is happening all
the time and I wanted to take a little time
to talk about it. But in South Carolina, plans for
a crab boil and marijuana delivery were thwarted by officials
(34:37):
out of South Carolina prison.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
