bad money stories and chronic self sabotaged. So what we do is have real
(00:24):
and inspiring conversations with amazing entrepreneurs whohave done just that. So get ready
to get untethered and get prosperous.Hey, it's way, and welcome to
another episode of the Untethered and Prosperouspodcast, which is all about helping you
becoming more untethered from your bad moneystories or your chronic self sabotage patterns to
(00:47):
leave a more optimal and more prosperouslife or business. And once again we
have an eight minute mic drop wherewe have an upcoming amazing guest leave a
tip or strategy in eight minutes orless for you to get excited about and
maybe immediately apply and then look forwardto the full episode. On this episode,
we have Carmen Williams from down Underand I won't go into too much,
(01:10):
but she has a seven figure vabusiness, so you definitely want to
listen in to what she has tosay. So Carmen eight minutes or less,
leave a type of strategy so youcan draft a mic and leave the
interview. Thank you. So inthe podcast we talk about feeling all sorts
(01:30):
of emotions and having beliefs that mightnot work for you, and I think
the key thing is is to recognizethose but then not let them stop you
from taking action. So I've stillgot some of those things going on,
but I recognize it and then ifI can see it for what it is,
I can still take action. Ibelieve that in business, taking action
(01:51):
is like one of the most importantthings. Even if it doesn't turn out
being the right action, you justneed to keep on moving, keep on
trying things, keep on doing things. And if you let a feeling stop
you, I think that can beproblematic. Yeah, And what would you
say is one way that you dothat? Do you journal it out,
(02:14):
do you talk it out, ordo you go into a meditative slumber.
I think it's recognizing it however thatworks for you. So for example,
sometimes I have a bit of anxietyand I'm speaking to one of my children
who also sometimes experiences that, andI said, the anxiety isn't the problem.
(02:34):
Obviously, you need a manager, you need a reduced stimulus and whatever.
So you need it when but itbecomes a problem if it stops you
from doing things that you want todo, so going up and you know,
doing that presentation or speaking to thosepeople, or jumping on the plane
if you're scared. So you know, you could become aware of it through
journaling. I don't really do journalingthrough talking to a friend, through just
(02:59):
stopping and go what's going on?From me here? Why aren't I doing
this right? And you know whatdo we say to people? And I
don't know if this has ever happenedto you, but for me, it's
like I don't even realize I've stopped. I basically very you know, very
covertly distracting myself into staying in action, but in the wrong type of action,
(03:23):
so I don't take the action thatI should be taking. Yeah,
sometimes I do that as well, and so I might catch it a little
bit further down the track than maybeideal. But recognizing that you're not making
that important phone call and you're sortingyour inbox instead, like that's a good
sign. To go, Okay, what's going on from me here? Right?
(03:46):
I've got the benefit of having abusiness partner who because I take lots
of action usually, and so ifI'm not taking action, she sometimes recognizes
it before I do and says, hey, Carmen, what's going on for
you around this? Right? Oh, that's so good right there. It's
almost like an accountability action partner, right, yeah, Well she just sees
a difference in how I'm acting.Yeah, And I think that's something to
(04:09):
be said around those if you don'thave a business partner, or maybe have
a mentor or a coach that youcheck in with on a regular basis that
is intimately aware of you know, your your behavior patterns, in your habits
and all those different things that youdo, so that they can say,
hey, by the way, whateverhappened to the thing you said you're going
to do but you're not doing. And I think that could be a way
(04:30):
to do it as well. Notin a because I know a lot of
people love accountability, but I hateit. I do like the supportive like
instead of going, you know, why aren't you doing that, it's like,
hey, come and just let's stopand think. Like I've recognized this
before you have, and let let'sexplore what's going on. So that's a
(04:51):
sort of tone. I like, other people love accountability, so whatever works,
I say, yeah, well,I mean it sounds like, well,
because marines, both of you aregreat coaches, so I mean that
you would it would only be natural. And that's why I say, like,
now, yeah, you're right.I mean I joined an accountability program
(05:11):
many years ago, and it wasn'tit was. It got to a point
where it's they don't tell me whatto do. I'm gonna do. I
gonna do what I want to wantto do. I quit because sometimes if
I'm not taking action and I stopand think about it, it's because I've
made a decision that I want toredo. And so maybe that's it's good
(05:33):
that I've recognized that I'm not takingaction because now I want to do something
else, or I've reconsidered what's importantto me. So yeah, I think
it's I think it's quite nuanced.That's that support, and so it's good
to go to someone you know, like yourself, who's really experienced in supporting
people around that. Yeah, thatyou know, So I for those of
you are listening, if you don'thave a coach or a mentor get one
(05:54):
because or a good, really goodpartner that also coaches really well instead of
just calling out in yourself. ButI think that's a that's a perfect eight
minute my drop, because it's achallenge that I think so many people struggle
with, even it doesn't matter ifyou're six, seven, eight, nine
figures. I talked to a ninefigure entrepreneur and I we were just having
drinks and he was saying something verysimilar that, you know, it's like,
(06:18):
I know what I need to bedoing this, but god, it
still is a issue with me.And then I was like, Wow,
that's really cool. Can I interview? I wasn't going to confere him.
He's like, no, we justwe're just friends. Let's leave it at
that. But I listened to yourstuff. But I think that's a beautiful
(06:44):
thing. And however, you whatevercheck in system you build into place,
I think there's almost a systematic wayyou could do that once you understand the
way you uniquely work. Like yousay, it's very nuanced depending on how
you uniquely are right. But Ithink that's a beautiful tip and strategy that,
in spite of herself, has helpedyou achieve great results, helped a
lot of people, help a lotof your clients, and allow you that
(07:06):
freedom to be able to continue towork on that and still move forward in
life in a very powerful way.So I think that's good. I think
you can drop the mic. Nowwhat are's still doing here? I still
see you, you said left thebuilding. Well, thank you, Karen,
(07:29):
Thank you so much for that. And if you know, like I
said, if you want to hearmore, then you've got to subscribe to
the podcast. Hit your notification becausein a week or two, Carmen's full
episode is coming out, so youcan get I'm telling you there are layers
and layers of nuggets from this amazingwoman and what she has done in her
life and also to impact others, and then more to come beyond that with
(07:51):
her and her business partner. Sothat's pretty much it. So with that
being said, again, thank youfor that. That was an amazing tip.
