and she's with Autumn Becomes Me. She started the blog

a YouTube channel. She travels all over the New England area,

(02:27):
looking for fun or exciting things to film, or cooking
up something delicious in her kitchen to share with her viewers.
She's also a certified life coach, focusing on helping people
build better lives for themselves. She lives in Massachusetts, just
outside Boston, where the her two cats, tie Bolt and Moto.

(02:47):
Welcome to the program, Heather.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Hi, thanks so much for having me.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Well, I'm so glad you could join me on such
short notice. You know, I found your blog on line
and it was so intriguing that I thought, you know,
I think I need to get this lady on program.
So the chat a little bit.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Well, I appreciate that.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
Well, I'm glad you can join me. And you're first
of all, how did you get interested in travel and
going to all these different weird places? How did that
work for you?

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Well, it's kind of a funny story. So in twenty
twenty one, I became divorced, and I just was like,
you know, rather than feeling bad about it, I was like,
I'm gonna go and take myself all the places that
I wanted to go when I was married, but I
just didn't. And so I kind of was like, why
not record that as well, because it's supposed to be

(03:48):
fun and I don't have anyone with me, so I'll
just share it with my viewers. And it kind of
went from there.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
So now you've created a blog and then you have
a YouTube channel as well, and I watched that and
it's you do a really nice job. It's very intriguing.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
So of course you're near Salem, being I am, yeah,
and you've made several quite a few trips there, I understand.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Yes, definitely.

Speaker 2 (04:19):
Can you give us a little bit of history first
of all about Salem and of course the witch trials
and the witches.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Absolutely, so there's there's been a lot of documentaries about it,
but basically, uh, basically what happened was I've always heard
that there was something wrong with the corn and that
there was like a fungus or something that was causing hallucinations,
and that two you know, smaller kids, you know, ingested

(04:50):
this and they start having these hallucinations and every kind
Everyone kind of went, oh, it's witchcraft because obviously it's
back in the time before you know, microscopes and things
like that. And uh the titsuva who is the uh
kind of like the nurse maid. I guess she was

(05:11):
blamed for a lot of it. And from what I gathered,
she was a person of color, she was, you know,
a single woman, and she kind of I guess was
one of the first victims of it.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Yeah, I'm a direct descendant of for beca nurse. Oh.
I've always had an interest in the Salem witch trials
and Salem itself and have been there a couple of times.
I'll tell you what it kind of going there. The
first time, I went with my daughter and my best friend.

(05:48):
And as soon as we hit that town and I
started seeing these buildings, I was like, I know this place.
I remembered this la. It was like deja vu, and
it led me down a pass to discover that there
are DNA memories. There's memory in your DNA, and hope
view your own DNA, you can see what your ancestors saw,

(06:12):
you experience, what they experience. It's pretty wild.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
That's amazing.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
Well that is that is that visit to Salem made
me start thinking about it and then and then trying it.
So I have done that. But the other thing is
there's a certain kind of a feeling in the air
when you get to Salem that's unlike anywhere else. Do
you feel the same way I do?

Speaker 3 (06:38):
I do. And it's so funny because, like you know,
witchcraft isn't like my my everyday practice. I like playing
around with it, but I wouldn't call myself a professional.
But when I get there, it's almost like I feel
bad about that, and I'm like, you know what I really,
you know, just go in the woods and you know,
break out some tarot cards. It's just it kind of

(07:02):
ignites like a curiosity and almost, like I want to say,
a whimsicalness about it. It kind of brings you back
to childhood, where you know, you can just go have fun.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Yeah, and I think you kind of feel safe in
an environment where it's anything is accepted, not just witchcraft,
but you can you can have any type of an
interest and it's okay to talk about it with other
people because they will they will understand yes.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
And they're so friendly, like I have never encountered a
rude shop owner there, Like everyone is just happy to Yeah,
it's just a happy atmosphere for sure.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
I agree. I've we spent some time there during both
of my visits. There is one strange thing that happened,
and we haven't discussed this, but I'm going to ask
you if you've had the same experience. I was in
a shop. It was a really cool shop, and the
three of us were there and talking to the shop owner,

(08:08):
and somehow the subject of elves came up. And so
she was talking about the elf parade and she said,
the elves do a parade there every year. And I said, okay,
I said, are these elves real elves? She goes, oh, yes,
they are. Right on cue. This woman opens the door

(08:30):
to the shop and she was very tiny, she was
under four feet tall. She had pointed ears, and she
walked into I am not kidding. She walked through us, smiled,
and then went into the rest of the shop and
the three of us are looking at each other and
I look at the shop owner and she goes, there's
a community of elves in Salem. So yeah, My question was,

(08:56):
have you heard of this.

Speaker 3 (08:58):
No, no, I want to. Okay, So when you said elves, like,
there's so many variations of that, I'm like, is it
like Santa's elves or is it like Lord of the
Ring elves? Or like, what kind of elves are we
talking about? I have never encountered them.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Yeah, I didn't see any I didn't see them before.
After that, I didn't see them the next visit. Uh,
it was just like we're talking about it, and right
on cue one of them walks in.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
That's crazy wild. Oh my goodness. Did they say when
this parade happens because I loved her?

Speaker 2 (09:34):
I don't. I don't remember. But we're going to have
to look that up. I know you're going to have
to look it up, you know, because that's what you do.
And i'd be interested to see some video about that. Yeah,
maybe one of the shops. No, no, well hopefully not.
I don't know what the deal is. Maybe it's a

(09:55):
secret parade. I mean, how are you going to do that?
So as far as witches, yes, were they the first
doctors and therapists?

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Oh? Yeah, oh absolutely. It's so funny because, like I
think that's one of the reasons I love them. So
much too, is because you know, especially for me, I
have you know, I've been to therapists for myself. I've
also you know, I'm a life coach and everything. And
you got to think all the way back in like

(10:33):
seventeen eighteen hundreds, they didn't have you know, Sigmund Freud
to pool from or things like that, you know, and
I feel like every community has that wise woman that
was kind of a mainstay in the community. You know,
she was the one you'd go too if you were
having trouble getting pregnant, and she was also the one

(10:55):
you'd go to giving birth, like she knew what to do.
And I think too, you know, even though they probably
weren't called psychologists or therapists back then, you know, these
were deep thinkers. They had, you know, the ability to
kind of see beyond, I want to say, what everyone

(11:16):
sees normally, you know, in their day to day and
see more of the deeper spiritual side of things as
well as maybe some of the emotional stuff. And then
I even think about, like, you know, if you had
something like epilepsy or depression, you know, did they know, oh,
Valerian root will help with depression or you know, and

(11:38):
we call it potions and things, but it could also
be just early doctor pharmaceuticals.

Speaker 2 (11:45):
Right, right, exactly. Yeah, so there there are a lot
of misconceptions and it makes you wonder. Of course, there
was a time when whiches were good that, like you said,
they will go visit it the local witch for assistance
with any type of ailment or issue. And then they

(12:07):
became bad. So yeah, all bad. Even the good witches
were bad. And then they did some really really horrible
things to them. They blamed terrible things, They blamed curses
on them, they blamed their their crops failing crops on witches.
They thought they had the ability to do that.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
No.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
No, they just knew the secrets of natural herbs and
you know, things in the field, and they shared that
information down through their family lines. Yeah. And there still
are witches today, real witches today, And you've had some
interactions with real witches. Can you tell us about that?

Speaker 3 (12:50):
Yeah, So I go to a thing every year. It's
because it's one of the most viewed episodes on my channel,
and it's called the Salem Nightfair, which it has a
very spooky air about it. I don't know if it
would be well taken by little children because it is

(13:12):
it does really embrace kind of the darker side. But
even there, a lot of the witches I've encountered have
been really friendly, and one in particular I just met
them this year where this woman went by the house
house Freya, and she did all kinds of really beautiful candles.

(13:35):
I actually have one burning right there, and it's just
beautiful how she she puts crystals in them. She puts
helpful herbs that are supposed to enhance whatever you're going
after on them. And they smell great too, by the way,
So even if you don't like go for that, at
least by it for the smell. But she was very friendly.

(13:59):
And then I also talk to the Elder Sisters and
it's a group of three women who they are witches
and they make really great bath salts and it's so
relaxing and nice, and you know, and a lot of
them too are just they have an interest in more

(14:22):
homeopathic you know, healing or which I really appreciate, you know,
I doctors and pharmaceuticals definitely have a medical place, but
it's so nice to have a gentle, you know, way
of comforting yourself when you're you know, rather than taking
an aspirin, it's nice to go and take a nice

(14:43):
bath soak sometimes.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Oh yeah, I absolutely believe that the natural way is best.
And there are so many things that people can do
for themselves using natural products or you know, if they
learn how to grow there herbs or forage in the forest.
But if not, you go to someone who does know
these things. And to me, that's a lot better than

(15:10):
putting chemicals in your body.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
I agree. And also too, it's the intention, like I
don't know, I get mommy feelings like oh, this person
made this really gentle, nice soothing sell for me, and
it's like just the intention that they want you to
feel better, like how can you be mad at that?
It's so nice and comforting. And then there was one

(15:36):
oracle that I saw that gave me goose bumps, and
they were called the Eyes of the Oracle, and they
did a card reading on me, which again like I
have a very psychological approach to things, and they were like, oh,
think of a question, and I did and I didn't

(15:57):
have to say it that the cards I pulled, it
was like, oh they knew and it was spot on amazing.
So and again super friendly.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Well, that's awesome. I yeah, I ran into a lot
of people there that were a lot of fun. There
was a we took a tour called mass Hysteria Tours,
and I don't think they're in business anymore. It's it's
been quite a while. But they took us around in
a hearse that had been modified.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Oh I love that.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
So I don't know. There's maybe ten or twelve of
us that fed in this vehicle and they took us
around on tours and we had a couple of spooky experiences.
I mean, do you know about the crazy which lady
in the real estate office, the haunted real estate office

(16:58):
on the second floor of this building.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
No, okay, does she sell good houses?

Speaker 2 (17:05):
I'll tell you really quick. No, she's long dead, but
she appears in photographs. And so the tour stops in
front of this building. We don't go in the building.
We're just sitting in the hearse and she's explaining to
us that this real estate office has got hauntings going on.
Doors close, they lock on their own, and so if

(17:28):
a person's in a room, they have to make sure
they can get out of a room. You know, things
moving around, light's going off, and on, and they just
kind of get used to it and they ignore it
and they think it's kind of funny. It's a bunch
of them that work there. And so in this one
picture from years ago, I don't know if I can
find it on the internet now, but there is. They

(17:50):
took a picture of everybody at the holidays to do
a holiday picture, and when they developed it, they find
this crazy, while old haired woman with her hair just
sticking out all over, a crazy ghostly figure in with
there with the people. And that woman wasn't there for

(18:10):
that shot. Okay, wasn't there. So she's telling us that
since she's passing the picture around, I look up at
the windows and in one of the windows I see
that woman and I said, oh, just like the poster
up there in the window. And everybody turns around and looks,
and the tour guide looks. She goes, that's not a poster. No, Yes,

(18:38):
she was the scariest looking crazy woman I've ever seen.
And I'm you know, I'm gonna have to find that picture.
Yeah that was crazy. But next time you take the trip,
try to find out about that haunted real estate office
and see if it's going on.

Speaker 3 (18:57):
Yeah, oh my gosh, like, what did she go through
that would come? I mean, real estate's tough, but.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
That I mean, well, yeah, why Obviously the building is
very old and you know, anything could have happened. But
the this thing looked like a banshee, you know, just
a wild, crazy woman that you see in movies. H
and that was in real life, at real time.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
How did you feel seeing that?

Speaker 2 (19:29):
I was like, oh, okay, I thought that was a poster.
No it's not. And the tour operator opted to leave
very quickly, and we weren't. We weren't unhappy with that decision.
That was just hoping that she wouldn't attach herselves to
us or leave that building. But obviously she couldn't leave

(19:50):
that building. She seemed to be maybe she's trapped there,
I don't know, but she didn't didn't follow us, Thank goodness.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
That's good. Yeah, I'm sad that she's trapped at work though.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Yeah, that's funny, especially in a real estate office.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
You know.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
Oh gosh, yeah, I'll bet I'll bet she's bored. You know,
I'll bet she's really just trying to liven things up
around them when they're working and causes them, you know,
grief hiding I.

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Was stuck at work forever. Yeah, i'd be a mess too.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
Oh my gosh. Well anyway, Yeah, we've got about five
minutes before the break, so let's talk a little bit
about symbolism and rituals and things that you've learned about
witchcraft in psychology.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
Oh man, I don't know if I can fit it
in five minutes. There's so much.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
No we could. We can always come back in Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:46):
So I guess I want to start, probably with tarot cards,
mostly because I feel like that's a good starting point
for symbolism. That's pretty much all they are. And I
have my own set and I will I don't read
for other people. I just don't have the confidence, but
I like reading for myself. And like, one easy symbol

(21:10):
that I can kind of briefly touch on is the
symbol of water playing kind of symbolic to emotions, so
you can' I also do like dream interpretations, and a
lot of times if a person sees water in their dreams,
depending on the state of the water, it represents their

(21:30):
inner emotions sometimes that they don't even know that's going on.
It's like under the surface. Okay, yeah, yeah, so like
for and it's also situational, So like, I dream a
lot about swamps and gaiters, but I grew up in Florida,
so that's not too weird for me. But I have

(21:52):
a lot of Northern friends where if they said, hey,
I had this weird dream of the swamp and there
was these gaiters, I probably kind of pause and sit.
They're wondering, you know, do they feel, you know, kind
of dark or murky about a situation? You know, and

(22:12):
what are the gators doing? Is it's scary? Do they
feel at ease? Like it's very symbolic.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Yeah, so, yeah, I didn't know you did dream interpretation too.
That's interesting.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
Yeah, oh sorry, Yeah, it's it's a fun part of
my job because again, it's all about the subconscious and uh,
that's probably the best way that your mind will talk
to you is through your dreams. So I encourage all
of my clients to try to keep a dream journal
like by their bed, and even if it's a little

(22:51):
snapshot of a dream, like, it's good to record it
to get in the habit of that.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
What can that tell you in a journal? What can
that when you first wake up in the morning and
you write down what you remember, For your dreams. I
mean a lot of a lot of times people forget
completely about their dreams, so it is important to write
them down right away, right right, yes.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
Oh sorry, I would say meditation helps, So if you
want to even just start remembering your dreams, meditating on
a regular basis helps. Another thing I do is called
check ins throughout the day, where sometimes I'll just ask
myself and it sounds so silly, but I'll be like, oh,
are you dreaming? And the reason is is that when

(23:37):
you are in a really vivid dream, sometimes it can
kind of feel like regular life. And if you ask
yourself are you dreaming? Throughout the day, then when you're
asleep you can sometimes keep those little check ins, and
that's where you can start lucid dreaming and all kinds
of stuff.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
Do you do lucid dreaming?

Speaker 3 (23:56):
I've had one. I've had one lucid dream and it
was so much fun, but I haven't been able to
get back to that state so and my cue there
was that I was supposed to trip and fall down
the stairs, and instead I kind of just floated, and
then when I got to the bottom, I was like,
I'm dreaming, illen.

Speaker 2 (24:17):
There, and it was Yeah, so you took control of
of the situation so you wouldn't fall. Yeah, that's pretty awesome.
All right. Well, we are up on a break and
we are going to be back in a few minutes

Speaker 2 (26:38):
We're back with unex News. I'm your host, Margie k
and this evening we are speaking with Heather Autumn about
some of her travels and experiences. And you know, with
witches and witchcraft and Salem. Salem is a cool town
and there are lots of places to go. This place
in particular, when I arrived and I couldn't believe how

(27:03):
old it was and how haunted it was. What was
your experience with this House of Seven Gables.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Oh man, it's a very I want to say ominous,
but also a very dominant house. And I want to
say that energetically, like when you walk up to it,
it's it has a presence. It's not like your neighborhood house, right,
And it's not just because it's big or black. It's
just a you can tell something's happened there. But it's

(27:37):
just an energy thing.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
I don't know, Oh it does. It does have that presence.
I can tell you. I felt it when I got
out of the car.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
Oh you did to okay it?

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Oh yeah, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
But it's nice that it's kept up, you know, and
there's a history that is preserved there. I'm really happy
that Salem is not completely commercialized crazy and there's still
pockets where it's like preserved.

Speaker 2 (28:07):
They've seemed to have done a pretty good job at
preserving history. And these buildings that are from the seventeen hundreds,
I mean, you just don't see that anywhere else. It's
kind of rare. Now on the East Coast, there are places,
and of course, you know, that's where our civilization pretty

(28:27):
much started in the US, besides Florida before that, But so,
what are some of the cool places you've visited in Salem?

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Oh, my goodness, So there's a place I'm trying to there.
It is so the Coven's Cottage. I don't know if
you've been there.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
I have not.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
It's oh sorry, So there. It's just so instagrammable. But
they don't let you take pictures inside, which I'm so
disappointed about. But they are. It's it's like when you
walk in exactly how you imagine a witch's store to
look like. There's herbs hanging from the ceiling. There's all

(29:15):
kinds of like sage bundles, but they're they're not just
sage bundles. They're like decorated with flowers. They have all
kinds of like if you're looking for a specific item
for your spell work, they have different little pots where
you you know, like one is like crushed eggshells, another
was like I want to say, deer antlers or something like.

(29:38):
It's it sounds creepy, but they can do it in
such a beautiful like way that it's not scary. And
then I've also been to Oaken Moss, which is a
newer store. I want to say that it's opened in
the last two or three years. I want to say
more more like three. Here's three or four. It's new,

(30:00):
it hasn't been there forever. But again, I have to
watch my pocket book when I go there because they
have beautiful candles. They also have these drink mixes that
you can mix with you know, your vodka or whatever.
And it's fun because it's sort of like it's very
I want to say poshy and herbal, but you know,

(30:22):
it's still fun.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
I love places like that too. And then what about
this place, the Witchery.

Speaker 3 (30:32):
I love them. So they helped me make my very
first Witch's broom this year and super friendly staff. I
went there in July and they were just very kind.
Like I messed up my broom a couple of times
and they were like, oh, it's fine, let me just
help you correct that. And you can pick out your

(30:55):
own colors. Yeah, that's my room.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
That is so cool. Look and it's it's multi colored.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
Yeah, I chose so those are color splashes, and I
chose orange and black because I was recording for Halloween.
I do a lot of my recording months before Halloween.
And then I liked the symbolism of like the moon
because of course, a lot of rituals are based off
of that. And then I have kind of a ma

(31:23):
cob side. I collect some tax I've just started to
collect collecting taxidermy, and so that is a kind of
like a part of a spinal column on that one.
I'm sorry, I know that's horrible.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
Earlier before the show that you have a couple of snakes.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Thanks, I do, okay, So past Salem, there are other
events I go to throughout October, and one is hosted
by the I'm gonna say it's an audio shop called
Evens and Oddities, and so they have all kinds of
different vendors there. It's a great fun. It's another very

(32:08):
popular thing. But so last year I got this guy.
It's a little snake in a jar, oh my, and
I decided to name him Frank. And he lives like
with my crystals.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
So I like snakes because they're kind of symbolic of
just transformation and rebirth yea. And he looks creepy, but
he's just chilling, he's happy, and I decided to get
him a friend this year. This is a rattlesnake and
that's preserved.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
And I actually that is yeah, I don't want to
see a rattlesnake unless it's in glass. Well.

Speaker 3 (32:51):
I had my viewers name her because I don't know,
I felt like he was a he. I have no
proof of that, and I just felt like she was
a she, And I was like, what do I name her?
And one of my viewers came up with the name Marylyn.
So I have Frank and Maryland, kind of like Frank
Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
Uh huh yeah, okay, sorry, interesting that a great Uh
now what else I mean? I know you coach, you've
been to Salem many times. What kinds of festivals are
happened in the area? What is what is really interesting?

Speaker 3 (33:30):
Yeah? So once a year they hold the Witches and
Psychics Fair, which I want to say, if you don't
like the super spooky side like the Salem Night Fair,
I would recommend this, especially if you have like smaller
children and what that. I've been there once and there's
tons of different vendors. Some of them sell more cute things.

(33:55):
I want to say. Uh, so, you know, cross stitch
is one thing I saw. It was like little witchy
sings and there were there was a vendor who did
just witches, hats and things like that. And I would
also say that there's a lot of I mean, it's
about witches and psychics. So if you're new and you

(34:17):
want to get your tarot read or your palm read,
then this is a great starting point.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
How many witches are there in Salem?

Speaker 3 (34:28):
Oh my goodness, I don't know. I want to say
that there's probably quite a few, because it seems like
every store has at least two or three that you
can schedule with.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
Yeah, several years ago I looked it up. I can't
remember what it is, but there there were a lot,
and it's a it's a community of psychics and witches
and like you said earlier, people who read taro and
do palm reading and things like that. So it'd be

(35:02):
a fun place for anybody to visit, just to you know,
to to have a good time and get those things done.
But these gals are real, They're they're for real. They
are and uh and they're super nice. There is one place,
oh gosh, uh, this place looks intriguing vamp fangs? What

(35:25):
is this one all about?

Speaker 3 (35:27):
So I've there's actually parking near them, which is why
I know about them, because I walk past, and they
make custom vampire fangs, so if you are interested in
having your own set of fangs. From what I I
haven't had them. I haven't gone there and experienced that,

(35:49):
but from what I've heard, they'll take an imprint of
your mouth and everything.

Speaker 2 (35:56):
Yeah, So I'm I am going to do a vampire
show sometime soon, probably at the beginning of the year.
So I definitely want to get in touch with this
group to see what that's all about, because I wonder
if they make permanent ones in addition to the temporary
ones I'll put. There are some people out there who

(36:17):
would do that.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
I've heard of Denis doing that, but I'm not sure.
I think they do it with like a resin. They
don't actually file down the teeth.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
Oh gosh. Yeah, no, no, no, permanent, no, probably adding something
on that could be removed, Yeah, I think, yeah, that
would be the safest.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
Yeah. I saw a program once. It was it was
kind of geared towards that where they use it's kind
of like the same enamel that they use when they
fill in a cavity and they use like a little
UV light to cure it. I don't know. I don't
know if any reputable dennis that do that.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
No, I don't either. I don't think any of my
dentis in Kansas City would do that.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
They should, that's I mean, if it doesn't hurt the tooth.

Speaker 2 (37:07):
I suppose I suppose to each his own right, right,
And then what about this place?

Speaker 3 (37:15):
Oh, I love hex. So hex is a bit I
want to say darker, but not like against it. If
we're going to use Salem nightfares, like the darkest scariest
hex is probably in the middle. It has things like
voodoo dolls, and I mean they do have like a

(37:36):
little altar where if you want to kind of write
something to your loved ones and then put it there
if they do a ritual for it. Ah, But I
do want to say they're a bit darker. They sell
like railroad spikes and things for hexing as opposed to
maybe just positive spell work.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
Uh huh. So if you're really rude, really hacked off
with somebody, that would be the place to go. It
has its place, yes, be forewarned, because there is such
a thing as karmo, right.

Speaker 3 (38:10):
Yeah, that's probably why I wouldn't hex anyone, just because
I would be afraid of it. Coming back to me,
but I'll let somebody else do.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
That are extreme circumstances, but that's true, like if your
husband's snores or you know, things like that. So what
are what has Salem evolved into over the years? What
is it now?

Speaker 4 (38:35):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (38:35):
Is it all commercial? Is it a tourist trap?

Speaker 4 (38:39):
What is it?

Speaker 3 (38:41):
I want to say it has in my opinion. This
is just me, but I do feel like it's gotten
very touristy, especially during October. And I get it, like
it's a popular area for things in October, why not.
But I've also kind of noticed being a little touristy,

(39:02):
you know, and it's off season like in July. And
I only say that just because I feel like sometimes
the shops or the parking or the interactions can be
expensive when maybe they shouldn't be, right, But I also
want to say, like that's kind of Boston in general, though,

(39:25):
Like parking in Boston's insane.

Speaker 2 (39:27):
So there's no free parking, no, right, right, Yeah, it's
probably a limit on time too of all the people.

Speaker 3 (39:39):
Oh absolutely. In fact, like especially during October, it's wild
there there are so many people. So I want to say,
if you're not a fan of crowds, you might want
to go earlier in the day, so a lot of
the shops will open around eleven ish. So I want

(40:01):
to say, if you show up around eleven, maybe get
some breakfast at like Goola Gulu, uh, you know, and
wander around. That should be fine, But definitely towards the
evening it gets more popular.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
Oh I'll bet, I bet. Do you see people walking
around in witch attire?

Speaker 3 (40:18):
Oh? Yeah, that's normal. That is completely normal.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
Okay, okay here all year round.

Speaker 3 (40:24):
That is the place where if you want to wear
your witch's hat or if you have a fairy, you know,
a favorite Harry Potter house that you associate with, that's
the place to wear it and nobody will question you,
nobody will think it's weird.

Speaker 2 (40:39):
Yeah, it's great. Probably the only town in the United
States where you could do that.

Speaker 3 (40:45):
Oh probably I would. Yeah, it's just and they embrace it.
They just go for it.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
Yeah. Yeah. So what's good about the place the you know,
is it very accepting of everybody?

Speaker 3 (41:03):
Absolutely. I think that's one of the things that I
really like about it is they allow curiosity. Right, So
for people like me who you know, maybe they don't
you know, I don't have like a practice, like I've
you know, said, but I have curiosity sometimes, so if
I have a question about a tarot card, they're not

(41:24):
going to roll their eyes at me. And you know,
it's it's just very positive. They're willing to sit down
and kind of talk things over with you and get
your questions, give you insights. I go shopping there sometimes
for crystals and they're you know, I'll go in and say, oh,

(41:45):
I have you know, this issue that I want to
meditate on. What's a good crystal for that? And it's
been so friendly. It's like they get excited and it's
not even their problem. They're like, let me help you
find this crystal.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
And yeah, and it's good to talk to an expert
sometimes when you need help with something. Absolutely, Now, do
you have some of your crystals with you to see?

Speaker 3 (42:12):
I have three diets out.

Speaker 2 (42:15):
Oh sorry, yeah, let me see them.

Speaker 3 (42:18):
Oh so I have this, Uh they.

Speaker 2 (42:21):
Were that's unusual is that this is a pyrite sun disk.
Oh wow, and it's.

Speaker 3 (42:29):
Supposed to be good for prosperity and money things. I
love it. So it's kind of a little bit rare. Yeah,
my more expensive stones, but.

Speaker 2 (42:41):
I have not seen one of those. And I thought
I knew all the crystals, so ohkay, interesting.

Speaker 3 (42:49):
I also have this one, which is Ocean Jasper. That's
pretty yeah, this one they also have cards go with them.
This one is the Stone of Atlantis. It's for joy,
conscious awareness, strength, and energy. So that's fun, okay. And

(43:13):
then lastly, because of this program, I wanted to show
you this one and this is a witch's broom.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
And oh yeah, what is the mineral?

Speaker 3 (43:26):
This kayanite black kinite earth.

Speaker 2 (43:32):
Yeah that's unusual as well.

Speaker 3 (43:35):
Yeah, it's from manifesting and the stone of conscious Awareness.
So I love them. I have an extensive crystal.

Speaker 2 (43:45):
Collection, so do I. I have always been obsessed with
crystals and stones and fossils, and yeah, it doesn't matter.
If it's something, I will go crystal digging or you know,
digging for gems, gemstones, and if it's I like them
in their rough state and I like them in their

(44:07):
finished cut state as well. So but no, no, there's
no difference in the energy. Can you can get a
rough state emerald that's beautiful in the matrix And I
have a lot of them and I put them put
them around the house and there I don't feel or

(44:29):
sense any difference in the strength of it. If anything,
the cut stone is a little bit weaker in strength, Yeah,
but not much, not much. So you know, there is
something to be said for having nice jewelry, so you can, yeah,
you can justify the purchase. Let's put this way by

(44:53):
having a variety. That's uh, that's yeah, that's my opinion.
We've got the Salem Office of Tour It's info at
Salem dot org. And then of course your website and
your here's your website, Autumn becomes me dot com. And

(45:14):
then you would get a link to your YouTube site
from there, I assume absolutely.

Speaker 3 (45:20):
Or if you go on YouTube and just google or
we'll look up, Autumn becomes me. It's the only one, okay.

Speaker 2 (45:27):
And then what social media platforms are you on?

Speaker 3 (45:31):
Oh my goodness, I'm on Instagram, Facebook, I have a Pinterest.
There's so many things. I would say. Just google, Autumn
becomes me, and I'm the whole first page and possibly
part of the second.

Speaker 2 (45:46):
Okay, Okay, that sounds good. What are your plans for
the near future.

Speaker 3 (45:52):
Oh man, Well, definitely going back to Salem. That is
so much fun there. And also there's whole bunch of
new stores that have opened that I haven't been to
this year. I had to skip it. I went to,
you know, of course, the Salem Nightfair, but I wanted
to go back into Salem, and it was just I couldn't.

(46:15):
I was just too crowded and I was too busy.
But I've heard that there's bunches of new stores of
you know open over there.

Speaker 2 (46:22):
Well, I'm going to have to make a trip back
there myself. Maybe we can go together and do a
show together or something. Yes, yes, yes, What is the
symbology of the broom? Why do witches want to have groups?

Speaker 3 (46:39):
Well, I've heard that it was originally for the application
of certain oils and it you know, of course, oil
is absorbed better in certain areas of the body. I
don't know how we want to kill deep we want
to get into this, but so that's one theory. The
other is that it's more to just sweep out negativity.

(47:03):
So if you have one in your house, you can
use it ritualistically to you know, obviously, you know, we
have things like vacuums and all, but it's more of
an energetic cleaner, so which I kind of like to
think of.

Speaker 2 (47:17):
You know, do you have a broom over your doorway.

Speaker 3 (47:23):
No, I actually have it usually sitting by my fireplace. Uh,
this way over here, okay, but I actually brought it
out for the show.

Speaker 2 (47:34):
Yeah that's nice.

Speaker 3 (47:36):
I like it just because it reminds me that there's
more to life than what we see. You know, there's
this spiritual side that you know, we can influence to
some degree, which is nice.

Speaker 2 (47:49):
It certainly is. Now, there are some rituals that you
practice in your healing and your life. What is the
cord cutting?

Speaker 3 (48:00):
Ooh, I like cord cuttings. So a cord cutting is
basically where you have two candles and then you tie
a string around them. Usually, and I'm gonna say this
because I just learned this, don't use yarn because it
can be synthetic and it doesn't burn properly. Oh yeah,
I found that out this last one. I was like, oh,

(48:20):
I won't use that anymore. But like natural hemp cording
works just fine. And what you do is it's sort
of like one candle represents you, and then you have
this other candle representing either a person or a situation
that you have been giving to energetically that you no
longer want to give to, and you put salt between them,

(48:43):
and you can use different herbs in my cord cutting.
I didn't do anything to the negative candle, I want
to say, And for mine, I just put lots of
you know, lavender for love, and I think I also
use sage for prosperity, things like that. And then you
tie the string between the two candles and you light

(49:06):
them both at the same time, and as they burned down,
they ignite the cord, and the cord burns and breaks,
and it's kind of symbolic of taking back your energy
and which I thought was kind of just on a
psychological level, it's beautiful. You know, you're you're giving yourself
a visual to remember for a painful time that you're

(49:29):
trying to release. And then on an energetic level, it's
kind of nice because it's of course very symbolic of
just the ending of a thing. And I don't know,
I liked it.

Speaker 2 (49:42):
It sounds like something that would actually help people feel
like they've released from whatever the negative issue is.

Speaker 3 (49:51):
Yeah, it's very final, though, I will say, because mine
went so badly. My candle like burned in because I
use this isn't that yarn. It burned up really fast
and I had to look it up and Google, and
they were like, if the cord is burnt and cut,
it's cut. Don't read into it, you know, like right,

(50:12):
which made me feel better because at first I was like, oh,
what does that mean?

Speaker 2 (50:17):
Okay, we've got a few more minutes here, so let
me ask you about a ritualistic bath. What is that? Oh?

Speaker 3 (50:24):
I love this? Okay. So if a cord cutting is
about kind of releasing something, taking back your energy, a
ritualistic bath is sort of like taking the time to
I almost want to say, surround yourself with what you
want and release kind of like the worries of the day.

(50:45):
So you can even do this in the shower where
you've had a tough day, you come home from work,
you know, getting under the shower and just like thinking
of all of that stuff that you dealt with throughout
the day. Going down the drain it's very metata native.
And then the whole bath part, it's a chance for
you to kind of soak in some herbs that have

(51:06):
spiritual meaning. And it smells good, it's relaxing, it's all positive.
I highly recommend it sounds happy. Do you have any recommendations?

Speaker 2 (51:21):
Oh gosh, yeah, But I do most of my work
like that, like a chord cutting by visualizing it during meditation.

Speaker 3 (51:35):
Oh I like that.

Speaker 2 (51:37):
So I it A lot of people believe that every
single relationship you have in your life, there's a chord
leading from your solar plexus to that person, and whether
it's a fleeting moment or it's a long term thing.
And so when I meditate, I visualize a chord going

(51:59):
to that particular person that I want to distance myself from,
and then visualize some scissors and they cut it right
in the middle between the two of us and boom. Yeah.
So it's a meditation thing.

Speaker 3 (52:15):
And you don't have to worry about your fire alarm.

Speaker 2 (52:18):
Oh that's true, or synthetic chords.

Speaker 3 (52:24):
Exactly.

Speaker 2 (52:26):
Yeah. Yeah. So then what about do you do a
lot of work with the tarot cards?

Speaker 3 (52:33):
I do. Actually, I would say if there's one tool
that I use the most, it's tarot cards.

Speaker 2 (52:38):
Okay, yeah, And is that something you do on a
regular basis and you do it for other people as well.

Speaker 3 (52:47):
I don't do it for other people just because I
don't have the confidence, but I do it a lot
for myself, especially for like problems I want more insight
on I don't necessarily do it for the future because
I feel like the future is changing so much with
every decision that it's hard to like if it says

(53:07):
I'm supposed to do something like and I don't, what
does that mean? I overthink a lot? Okay, just another
reason I do this tarrow because if I need insight
on something, it's almost like a very direct way of
like channeling on a question as opposed to the future
of the past.

Speaker 2 (53:28):
Right, And we've got a question from chat. How many
decks do you have?

Speaker 3 (53:32):
I have three. I have a traditional rider wake, and
then I have one that is inspired by dreams, and
then I have a shadow deck and I use them
all for different reasons.

Speaker 2 (53:46):
What is the shadow deck?

Speaker 3 (53:48):
The shadow deck is more I think it's called that
because it's artistically it's a black card and the designs
are done in gold. I wish I had that with me,
but it's a beautiful card. But I kind of like
using it more for like the deeper Like I'm dealing
with the trauma. How do I see this trauma differently?

Speaker 2 (54:11):
You know?

Speaker 3 (54:12):
Is it helping me in some way? Is there a
way to release it? And I don't know, just having
a darker deck kind of keeps me in a mindset that,
oh okay, you know, this is a different part of
psychology than the happy part.

Speaker 2 (54:29):
So for people who identify as witches, how would they
find out about meetings in Salem?

Speaker 3 (54:36):
Oh Man? So I would start with the Boston calendar.
There's always tons of like events happening, especially around October.
But I would also check meetup, meetup dot com. There's yeah, yeah,
I think you probably have a better bet looking there
as opposed to the Boston calendar. If you're looking for

(54:59):
like a coven to or meditation groups or terror readers,
I would go there first.

Speaker 4 (55:06):
All right.

Speaker 2 (55:07):
Well, golly, Heather, an hour has gone by way too
fast because I've got a myriad of questions. I know
if we get together we will be talking for hours
on end. But thank you so much for being on
the program tonight.

Speaker 3 (55:21):
Oh thanks so much for having me. It was fun.

Speaker 2 (55:24):
Well, I really appreciate it, and hopefully we'll get together
again soon.

Speaker 3 (55:28):
That sounds great.

Speaker 2 (55:29):
Thank you, all right, good luck with everything that you're doing.
Thanks bye bye. Well. This was another episode of Next
News sticking with the dark Side, little darker side than
normal witchy stuff, and of course, we are a paranormal channel,
so we have to cover this. Thanks for joining me

(55:50):
this evening, and I'll see you again next week.

Speaker 3 (56:14):
