Han blev fascineret af den pulpkultur, som serien er født ud af, og det har ført til en årelang interesse for tegneserier, film og fantasy.
Til årets udgave af SCI-FI-CON i Arena Randers fortæller han begejstret om dengang, han mødte Sven-Ole Thorsen, der medvirkede i bl.a. John Milius' Conan-film.
Han fortæller også om det sværd, der er en replika af Conans, som han har hængende på sit kontor på Esbjergs Kommunes Biblioteker, hvor han er biblioteksformidler og projektleder på Fantasy Festival.
Året 1982, hvor Conan-filmen havde premiere, er skelsættende for Jacob Krogsøe. Ifølge ham var det nemlig det år, hvor den amerikanske actionfilms guldalder startede.
Det har han skrevet en bog om, som udkom på førstedagen af SCI-FI-CON i Arena Randers. Bogen har titlen 'Fra det første blod til den sidste actionhelt'.
