whatever, be honest, the NewMovement Live DJ Drewsky in a building.
Now we got actor, radio hosts, artist A and R producer Vio G
hanging out with us today. Thankyou so much for having men or It's
(02:23):
an honor to have you here becauseyou wear so many hats. Right.
But for the people that don't knowvio G, I want to take it
back. What came first in yourcareer? Was it the music? Was
it producing? Was it TV?That's a really good question. I was
away from even a young seven yearsold. Music was always still in my
life. Engage my parents always toldme, like, just go for it.
Like just part of what you doin general and anything that you put
(02:46):
in together as an entrepreneur or asan actor or our model. What are
you going to do is just focuson what your goal is. And the
first thing is basically was always music. Music. Yeah, yeah, So
what were you listening to? Becauseyou grew up in l S. Did
you grow up? Okay, Sofor people that don't know Lower east Side,
New York City, it's a bigLatin community, right, shout to
(03:07):
some of the artists from Lower eastSide. I got True Life, you
know it's from I don't know ifyou you know True Life you might know,
but there's a lot of talented artistsin the l e S. Right,
I'm shouting to DJ Tracy's from le S where you guys work together.
We're gonna talk about that too, because you got your radio show.
But what were you listening to?What type of music was viol g into
(03:27):
at that time? I could goon to like maina sansa, I mean
freestyle or not like freestyle rap, like freest Spanish regular and just so this
goes on like you know, Rand B pop everything. So at what
age did you say you know I'mgonna start. You said eight eight years
old. But were you recording musicat eight years old? Oh no,
no, I would say later onin my life, I will say,
(03:47):
wrong, I'm on my teens orso I started more focusing like on that
motion, like okay, maybe asan artist, like full honest, and
I stow the storm at the ageof fifteen years old. Wow. Yeah,
it's just something with poetry and thencombined with song writing, so you
know, it's like cool cool likewith that. Yeah, definitely. And
I feel like when I fishly wentthe first on my studio actually was in
(04:09):
high school. In high school, yeah, big show to Beth Abraham Hospital
in the Bronx and yeah, andI actually have the honor to record your
studio for free. And I justjust don't call DROs. My first song
ever, it was of course breakingup. I mean, who don't do
break up songs? Right? Right? You know when you're young, that's
it affects you so much. Butyou know a lot of a lot of
(04:30):
girls that go in the diary andwrite about it. You instead went into
the booth and made a song aboutit. Oh yeah, definitely. And
I was like a fifteen sixteen, like I'm still trying to figure out myself
like puberty and that. So itwas a great song. And then that
was a first experience. I lovedit. I just and it was just
after that it was like I washooked on it, like studio and all
that, and uh, since Dan, I just had a passion just to
continue on working on it. Doesthe guy that broke your heart that you
(04:53):
made that song about, is hestill around? Does he know what veryl
G is doing? Does he knowveryl G and DJ Drewski on a new
movement right now? No? Fortunately, I always watching shout inspiringly. So
that's your first song fifteen. Youcatch the bug and you're like, not
only do I want to make music, but I want to tap into radio.
(05:15):
I want to be an actress.I want to So what what came
after the music? Was it radio? Oh? Actually no? No,
actually true story, music was Iguaid, where's the first? Fashion wise?
I will say later on I tappedinto acting cause I was doing it
actually in junior high school and youknow, behind the scenes and doing some
plays here and there. So actingwas like a second the second book they
(05:36):
called it. So I was Iloved it. I was like, you
know, you get to wear differentoutfits and be somebody else for a day
because you definitely have that personality.Opiate appreciate that, No, but yeah,
it was just something that's still me. I just loved it and I
just went with it. And whileI actually audition for the Professional Performing Art
School, I didn't unfortunately make it, but my mother you did it book
(05:57):
because you know what with them,it's like is you have to be a
ninth grade so it's that's how entrylevel. But if you were like,
let's say a senior, they're notgonna select you. So but it was
okay, so good, I'm herenow, so please stop you. That's
right, very and now you haveyour own radio show on radio definitely.
Yeah. So yeah the music thing, how that came about actually me and
(06:17):
my big shout to my management, jam Fine Media. We did the pilot
first m TV show and Vergi spalike TV show n not gonna win holding
up, okay, make sure thatfor three years this year uh so we
we did the pilot. It wassuccessful, a lot of artists coming in
from different states. Now we usedto be before those slobally right. And
(06:38):
then I said to him, Isaid, you know, let's tap into
radio. What do artists want?Radio magazine? All this all sources,
So we turned into detail for thatwe've been making it. Got willing knock
out again two years January, Sogratulation. It's an amazing experience, like
all kinds of people and their storiesand how they get inspired with their own
music and their own story exactly. So usually on other side, you don't
(07:00):
want to ask him a question.Today we're asking you the question. So
we're talking. We're talking all niceand you know the history, but I
gotta ask. I get a littlejuicy. Of course, you and Cuban
link have a song together, droppedthe video. You got real sexy in
the video. There's a part inthe video where you and Cuban, you
know, get a lot of clotheson and then he has his shirt off.
(07:26):
You have Levan Jerie on little something. I had to show little did
it go any further than the video? No? No, professional all the
way. And that's my manager alsomy man, and he was there.
Yeah, so you like make sureyou don't do anything. Yeah, of
course he was an ultimate director.I wrote. I wrote the treatment for
(07:46):
the video Listen let you get alittle bit but not too much. But
how was that experience? Because youknow, for us in New York City,
Cuban link is og in a senseright, so to know be making
not only records with him, butnow you guys are doing videos together.
Speak on that experience. Wow.So actually, prior to that video with
(08:07):
and That's song Come with Me,we met actually two or three years ago
while at the Eminent Studio and manas well in station. So we went
through another producer and I was like, hey, one day sort of Cuban.
It was up real cool guy tothis day homeboys, So definitely,
definitely, and we just had wejust had a chemistry there. And then
we always talked through him through mymanagement and their management. And one day
(08:30):
we're like do it try to becausehe actually was a guest of mine.
Yeah, he was there for thetwo times, and we just always had
that chemistry his friendship. So yeah, you're both well, no, he's
Cuban, but no, he's he'sCuman, he's just straight. Well I
thought he was mixed Puerto Rican.Nobody heard that he's cute, but no,
(08:50):
no, but I mixed myself,so the warm But yeah, I
actually had ancestry dn there I believeand I found out. Yeah, listen,
I got I am black, Okay, I love it. I am
Spanish and I have Irish, Sweden, Jewish. I am a missed much.
So I love it. And that'swhy you can do the versatility in
(09:13):
your music, because she can doan emotional record, then she can do
a dance record, and she couldjump into a whole protest lane and then
do a record for Black Lives Matter? What what made you do that?
Actually? So with that, soagain I have to get credit to my
management and Previdia. We worked alongwith that project, the constable, that
(09:33):
video, and you're going through whatGeorge Flo went to last year now over
a year. The case now isbeing you know, he finally got hit,
you know the rightness of the situation. I feel like we finally nipped
it in the butt. And Ihad to pay tribute for George Fory's family
and I did reach out to them, and one of his sisters through Facebook
actually saw the video. She puta big heart and that mean my thing.
(09:56):
That was the ultimate side. Ohyeah, definitely definitely. And I
was just saying, wow, andpeople we have over fifteen k us like
people are because of course you geta negative comments. Of course, let's
put a territory. So you justgot to keep pushing, you know,
and put out there the world thatyou know with this situation happened. Fortunately
that we have to make it animpact by artists. You know. Of
course it's great to talk about drugsex. Not we caught us to morm
(10:18):
but yeah, but we have tokind of use our platform as artists,
use our voice exactly with that andthen also when I ask your other question
so we can take it back,Okay, I was, He's like,
what happened? I was going toget back to a Cuban nowhere we got
there's too much juicy. So yeah, my management then spoke. We did
(10:41):
the concept. You know, thesong itself calling Me actually is about you
know, him telling me like leavemy man. I'm good. You know
you could be my girl. Youknow. It's kind of like situation tutorial
thing, you know, right,so it was a kind of cool.
It's like Spanglish for people that haven'theard it, yes, because the hook
is like in Spanish. But thenyou guys go back and for it so
(11:01):
you don't have to be you know, you don't even have to know Spanish
to listen to it because there isEnglish parts of that's something you wanted to
do, Hey, let's mix itup. I did yeah, because I
feel like, you know, beinga Latin, I wanted to embrace my
culture, but also I wanted alsoto affect everyone else want not just so.
But then in mine I spoke tohim. He was like you,
I like to be you to doit his wrap. I did my partner
(11:24):
study this part. We met up. We did nothing and us history.
Watch the video yet real spicy vineg is real comfortable and then video yeah
no, no, you're good toget actually real quickly. You guys could
(11:46):
vote for the song covered me Uh. It's at www dot LG radio dot
com. Dominated Yes, nominated forartists this year for Latin. So we're
trying to get that word. Sosee vote tell them one more time than
I G or the website. Soyou guys go to www Dot l d
on radio dot com and go toland category click it is once a week
(12:07):
guys, and then until I thinkJuly or so, and then that's about
it. So make sure you govote, go run it up, let's
get it. Who do you knowwho the other nominations are. There's a
lot of artists, independent artists onthat, so I can't really give the
full names. Don't even matter.I mean no, I don't. I
give them props. It all workhard for it, you know, till
you don't matter. She's act fifthnomination. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
(12:33):
well listen, I just give love. Keep spreading love, spreading the positivity.
We love it in the music. Now, you have an album sitting
over here. Yeah, so youactually this is yours, my gift that
you welcome and I'll sign of you. It's called Victory. Victory album came
out last year and we're doing theVictory Album to now because of COVID,
(12:54):
you know, correspond to that.So with them in mind, we're doing
a couple of days right now andI'm actually a part of the I believe
it's rock rockout against say one moretime, rock out against bullying, Rock
out against bullying. And that's withDJ Nectar. He's gonna be a part
of network and a follow on line. Yeah, and then we're doing a
couple of things with them for Vegas, right and for Vegas, yes,
(13:16):
yes, August, and I'm excitedfor that and in July fourth for the
also doing event for them as well, and that's the city. And outside
of that, you have your ownindie tour going on. Yes, yes,
definitely. So we're actually next weekwe're talking we're gonna be on the
eighteenth and nineteenth. O wait,Buffalo, New York because we did the
last one in twent New York.So we're going back to up there and
giving the Rstal performances and a bigshelf to mister two eleven and everybody is
(13:39):
just high all that. So it'sit's gonna be crazy. And it's a
two day event, so two daysin about two yeah, so I can't
wait. And then you're moving itaround right then, going to like Binghamton
and I believe it's you know,it's it's it's definitely a Buffalo. And
then we're going back to the Queens, New York. We have to do
the Hall of Fame that's in theJuly twenty four for that one, and
then we're doing all over the placethat Queen's UH artists want to get involved.
(14:05):
How do they get them? Uvedto hit you up on Instagram?
Yeah, Instagram the best way theycould find me at official as you know,
trying to get the check, soright, I'm trying to check your
yeah, yeah, so definitely, then you can find me. There are
my artists paid for o G onmy website. W W W got it
(14:26):
album out records. Now you gota magazine. I don't. I don't
have to sleep. He's not playing, she is not playing. Definitely,
so I'm here. We actually thisis over, gonna be making on October.
Got willing two years for this publicationcalled rog Spotlight Magazine. Just I'll
get the branch off the spotlight rightright right, So this year we have
(14:46):
on June issue. She is anamazing model plus size mode. I thought
that was you know whatever I mean, I mean one of the glasses.
I mean, I wish I couldlike that. I have money dances sometimes.
But yeah, Tourney was city artistand she's all from California as well,
so big shout to her. Andshe's she made it for the cover
for this issue in June. Andyeah, so we have a lot of
(15:07):
great artists here, a lot ofads features all that sorts. We have
a lot of people with our lifeto be a part of this. So
again, how the same thing ifthey want to be a part of this,
Yeah, they could contact me eitheron my social media, my Instagram,
my website, or my Facebook.Got it? And then I see
you have your acting guide. YeahI got, I got, I got
like over thirty publications or like Idon't sleep. I write poetry books,
(15:31):
uh books as well and also justpersonal books. I feel like you need
to inspire people, right right,So how do you want to be remembered?
How does Vero g want to beremembered? With everything going on and
so much positivity and just you know, giving people platforms and just you know,
I feel like you live it,you really live you know the lifestyle.
(15:54):
How do you how would you wantto be remembered when it's all said
and done. I think, youknow, living my legacy that's actually threw
my dad. Don't cry, Idon't try and try. He always was
a person who gave back and thatwas a bigger points for him. And
actually talking about that, we're doingback to school event, our second annual.
Another event. Yes, we didlast year and everyone covered it.
(16:17):
It was amazing. This year wewant to make a bigger ever. Would
love to have you been part ofit, a volunteer, just right back.
Anything for the kids. I appreciatethat. Yeah, and we were
making it bigger this year for thekids, boot bags, everything, food,
all that. We were hooking itup. So back to what you
mentioned. I my dad's myration, you know, and we saw how he
gave back to community. That's whyI went to the Mega Legacy to give
(16:38):
back. That's how verg wants tobe. Remember, thank you someone you
know that gave back to you know, people that just were in your life,
you know, whether you knew thempersonally, it was a complete stranger.
But I think I think that's agreat way, and that's how you
receive blessings as well. Now Isaid don't cry because you know hold but
(17:00):
that's a great segue Vero to talkabout your record don't Cry, which is
based on domestic violence. Yes,so I'm an it short story short,
but I have been a victim. Not this guy. No, No,
he's cool. He's just kidding. You know. We want to make it
(17:22):
lighthearted because I think when you talkabout domestic violence, it gets so serious
that people don't want to pay attention. Right, there's there's men that should
be listening that you know, theyget nervous, right, But I think
it's good for people like you thatexperience, that to speak up and for
men to listen to these stories beforethey even get involved in you know,
any situation like that or women, because there's men that get abused as well
(17:45):
exactly, and children as well. That's a dynamic. And I want to
add as well, but that wedid a docu film over a year ago.
I was called through Their Eyes theMasks Behind the Masks picture out to
Seana Grady, she was a producerfor that docu film. We put out
There Be Free, that's break within Brooklyn t Station and we got to
I wish I could bring the warsthat they should have. Well, we
want the B three Awards for thedocu film for People's Choice, so one
(18:18):
and everyone is in New York.Emmy, Yeah, we're first. Yeah.
And then also I have a petitionat www dot change dot org and
it's called in Domestic LINEUS and we'retrying to get petitions. We have over
fifty nine votes already or signatoris sowe're trying to get up to one hundred
Senators to get out there. AndI also vote for vote forgive me.
(18:38):
I also email. I've written toJoe Biden President, so I personally sent
to over a month ago, waitingfor him to respond back, but to
get a resident respawn. Come on, I'm trying to get busy going through
a lot and still handling COVID.I'm trying to definitely appreciated. But you
(18:59):
were to speak on your experience withdomestic Yes, yes, So with that
in mind, you know, Ihave been many years of the victim of
domestic violets, A great victim.I have been homeless and pregnant, been
a foster care system and more things. I went through my life and I
felt i'd written this book. It'scalled Trials and Tribulations and Autobiography or virgy
is out in Amazon. You guysget a copy and it talk to more
(19:22):
than death of what I went throughas in my childhood thirteen years to now
and those things I went I wentmentioned to you guys, it's been it's
been alone ride, right, andI feel like, you know, telling
my story my testimony could inspire someonesome Wow. She she's a phenomenal woman.
She's doing her own. Nobody's backingme. It's just me and my
management working Togever had my hand andwe're you know, before the meeting him,
(19:45):
I was just just trying my bestas an artist, trying to give
myself out there, and even priorto that, even more through these of
a past, A lot of peopleare like, I would have been dead.
It's true. Yeah, I meaneveryone could handle that pressure with that,
you know, that's a lot ofemotions. But yeah, you know,
you stay busy and created a careerout of it. But for people
(20:07):
that are maybe gone through it nowor that went through it that just can't
break through, what do you thinkit took for you to really, you
know, emerge from that, youknow, that nasty dark feeling. Do
you think it was a combination ofthings or was it just maybe love?
Like what was it that helped youget through it? I would honestly say,
my family, my son may sellto you. Nicholas, you know,
(20:29):
I know you're watching. He motivatedme so much. My family,
those who are you know, myclothes, my my management, And I'll
be honest with you, it's beensomething that I done. My mind looking
back at it and I'll talking toyou has been a journey and I feel
like, you know I'm here fora reason. You know there are times
I mean with you, I'll bereal. I committed suicide a couple of
(20:52):
times, but it didn't work.So I'm here for a reason. Gus
said, no, that's your time. You got people that care about you.
I love you, right, That'swhy do this every day. And
I'll be honest with you. Justski, I know, sleep and that's
try to be like three o'clock.Okay, everybody worried about I do this,
and I don't do this for profit. I do because I want to
just show people that people do care, people love people, and that in
(21:15):
this world is unfortunately is negative inthis world, and I just want to
bring some light to people's lives andday that's great. So family, really,
you feel helped you through through thosedarkest times definitely, and you know,
and it developed the character you aretoday. You know. I think
it's sometimes it takes people to gothrough rough times to be able to come
out of it and teach others.Because there is a young girl or a
(21:40):
young man right now that you knowis sitting there going through a dark time
right now and just trying to figureout how do I get through this or
should I take my life? Youknow, what advice would you give to
that person? I will say,I think the first, first, and
foremost, I think you just haveto know if nobody tells you, I'm
telling you that you are love, that you know. Whatever you're going through,
(22:02):
no matter what, you're being bulliedor being attacked. No, at
the end of the day, you'rehere for a reason you that's use that
time, utilize that for yourself whateveryou want to do. But don't take
your life because it's not worth it. There's people that you know even don't
care about you and and never knowwho you're impacting. So that's why,
end of the day, if thoseare listening or viewing, what do you
(22:23):
want to call it? Please? You know, if you I want to
maybe I want to pack somebody oneperson out who's watching this exactly, don't
take that choice, make the nextchoice and do something for yourself and for
your future. Yeah, we weappreciate you being able to speak up and
be open about it, right becauseyou never know what someone's going through.
But from your experience, and youcould say, yo, I don't even
(22:47):
want to talk about it, butwhat was probably one of the worst things
you went through? Right Because someonemight be going through something super simple and
they think it's the worst, right, But you can sit here and say,
yo, I've been through this,So what what do you think hurt
you the most? Because you spokeon being bullied, you spoke on people
you know trying to hurt your feelings. What really bothered you the most because
(23:07):
you said, you know, Idid attempt to try to take my life.
But what pushed you there? Whatdid you let happen that pushed you
to that moment? I'll be honestwith you. Jew Ski. Over a
year ago, I had a groupof friends who I thought were my friends
in the industry, and I realized, unfortunately is a cut through business right
and I'm a personally giving an amorial. So basically where it got to that
(23:29):
foot where I almost it in mylife because it was bullying online. It
was really bad, just like bullyingbullying, and it was just they were
just sending people different, disrespectful stuffto me and my camp and I said
I can't and luckily big shots ofGemini Staxes, even besides my management,
they took me out of that situationa dark place because it was getting really
(23:49):
bad. Was it like name calling? It was just very very direspectful for
women, names and things that youknow, I looked out for the I
fed them, we get them apartment, We took care of her, you
know, we gave them a spot, a platform. There was times I
didn't judge them anything, just toget our shows, just to get that
exposure exactly. So it's like ahurt because I'm a person I give,
(24:10):
especially people close to you. Becauselisten, I've been through the bullying I
did reality TV. You got tounderstand, like, you know, for
people that listening, because we're talkingon the topic, like I went through
a lot, like being on RealityTV, being a white guy in Ah.
You know that environment, you catchheat, so you have to be
(24:33):
strong. You have to be youknow, you know not I don't want
to say cold, but you gottasay, you know, I know who
I am and I know what I'mhere for, and I can only imagine
what people go through because I wentthrough it, you know, to the
mact like coming directly to family, trying to like stop money and stop opportunity,
you know, just but a lotof it was like bullshit, and
(24:56):
I was able to just keep onmoving and not pay attention to it.
But but I know, like somepeople, you know, they go through
it, and you know, tobe able to sit here and talk about
it. I think it's a it'sa great thing that we can inspire other
people to, like, keep onworking and keep following your dreams. You
know, if you want to putout on music, put out music,
you want to teaze, you wanta radio show, go for it,
(25:18):
for it. So you might not, right because we got a little deep.
Let's talk about some of these tattoosI think you had. He's spotted
real fun. What does that meanto you? Actually, it was a
Mother's Day give for a couple ofyears back to myself and a big sal
to Brian my tattoos in Brooklyn. He did this for me. And I'm
(25:40):
a big fan of hers. Ijust love I know, I know she
has whatever, but you know,I just love the way she kind of
cared herself as a woman. Say, she's another one that probably went through
a lot, yeah, in herlife, even the industry back then,
right and then she was she wontdough so much, but she had beautiful
light about her and her gift asan actress and she just wanted to be
(26:03):
loved. And I felt like alittle connection towards it. Okay, I've
seen that spotted that I said that, what does that mean? I know
you had a couple one on yourLegro Cubil already got you already got type
of vibes. But the Cuban songvideos out now, make sure will run
(26:26):
it up. Did we miss anythingbecause you have a lot going on?
Oh god, I at the moment, I think for now, I mean
pretty much. I'm actually working ontwo EP albums this year. When it's
cool here I am and it wascool energy that one thing that's coming out
next year. Well, I'm working, I'm working on I'm actually we're gonna
go the studio work again and yeahand I can't wait, and just something
