Where you can find out all the answers to whatever
you need is in prayer. God hears us, he listens

in accordance with His will, and it has to be
in accordance with his timing. But guess what. The Lord
loves hearing his children talk to him. And even if
(03:42):
it's not something that you're in need of right now, but.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
Valentine's a Happy Veterans Day, Happy Veterans Day in that dance.

Speaker 4 (09:34):
I appreciate it, and I appreciate you know those who
you know tell me as well, thank you for your service.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
And it's an.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
Honor that you know, when we're younger, we may not
always really know what we did while we were in
But the thing is is that we know now as
we've gotten older, that it really did matter.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
So Happy Veterans Day to you, all.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Right, Right, So today today we're going to the Word
of God.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
We're going to the Word of God.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
And I'm gonna talk about veteran homelessness because there's a
lot of veterans that are on the streets today.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
And a lot of veterans are homeless.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
Some homeless because of life situations and it's caused them
to maybe sometimes feel more comfortable being homeless. Some are
homeless not by choice, and so therefore they need the help.
They need help to get on their feet. Some are
(10:41):
addicted to certain drugs and alcohol, and some are dealing
with mental health issues.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
And so we want.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
To take care of our veterans a nation that doesn't
take care of their veterans is not a good nation.
And we as a nation should always support our veterans,
take care of our veterans. And regardless of you know
who you voted for or whatever, I do want to
(11:12):
say that during the time of Donald Trump's presidency, the
last time he did take care of the veterans. And
so we want to always take care of our people
who are serving and those who have served. And one
(11:34):
thing that we don't want is if we can eliminate
veteran homelessness, then that's something that we.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Should try to do.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
And I want to go to First Samuel chapter twenty one.
First Samuel chapter twenty one, and we know that David
was anointed to be King Saul's successor, but it was
a good while before he became king and doing in
that time, King Sauw was jealous of David, and so
(12:05):
he often spent his time trying to kill David. He
was often in pursuit of David. It kind of reminds
me of that movie called The Fugitive and with Harrison
Ford and then it used to be a series back
in the day, I think sixties or something like that,
and it was. It ran for a few seasons and
(12:26):
was called the Fugitive.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
And I forget the main character in there, but he
was a doctor. His wife got killed.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
By one armed man, but he was accused of it,
and so, to make a long story short, he wound
up being a fugitive on the run until he could
prove that the one armed man actually did it. But
today I want to read in First Semul chapter twenty one,
because David during the time that he was on.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
The run, he didn't have a home. He had to
go from place to place to play. Imagine that you
have this.
Speaker 4 (13:02):
Enemy that's pursuing you, and so you're never able to
settle roots. You couldn't set roots in any city, in
any place. You always had to watch your back. You
always had to be on the goal because your enemy
was constantly pursuing you. And this is what the life
that David had to live for a long time before
(13:26):
he became king. And so in First Samuel chapter twenty one,
in verse one, it reads, David went to knob to
a Hemelech.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
The priest.
Speaker 4 (13:38):
A Hemelec trembled when he met him and asked, why
are you alone? Why it's no one with you. David answered,
a Hemelech, the priest the king sent me on a
mission and said to me, no one is to know
about the mission I.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Am sending you on.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
As for my men, I have told them to meet
me at a certain place. Now, then what do you give?
What do you have on hand? Give me five loads
of bread or whatever you can find.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
So let me stop right there.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
So this priest he saw a Himelech, and I mean
a Himelek was the priest, and he saw David by himself.
Now he probably had heard some rumors because it says
her that he trembled when he met him.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Now we know that David had killed Goliath.
Speaker 4 (14:27):
Okay, so at one point he was really popular with
King Saul. But then King Saul started getting jealous when
the women was saying, Saul has killed his thousands and David.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
His tens of thousands.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
And so even though David was bringing Saul's success, you know,
God had blessed David and he was a mighty warrior,
and David was actually bringing success to King Saul. But
King's allowed his jealousy, he allowed his envy, he allowed
his pride to get the best of him, and so
(15:09):
his pursuit of David caused.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
Him to be on the run. So maybe this priest
had heard some.
Speaker 4 (15:15):
Rumors and he knew that things were not good between
Saul and David. And also remember that David had married
one of Saul's daughters, Michael Okay had married one of
his daughters.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
But that did not stop Saul from.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
Pursuing David because Saul knew that David had been anointed
to be the next king of Israel, and Saul was
not happy about that. So when David meets with this
goes and see this priest, he didn't tell him the
truth about why he was alone and why he didn't
(15:54):
tell him that he was on the run from Saul
or anything like that. So he made up this story
that he was on a secret mission for the king.
But at the same time, he asked the priest to
give him some bread, if he had some bread. Now,
David knew that the priest kept bread in the lord's
house because that was the requirements for the priest to do,
(16:17):
was to always keep fresh bread in the lord's house.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
So David was.
Speaker 4 (16:23):
Hungry and he wanted some bread. Now verse four, the
priest answered David I don't have any ordinary bread on hand. However,
there is some consecrated bread here, provided that men have
kept themselves from women.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
So the only ones.
Speaker 4 (16:41):
That were supposed to eat this bread was the priest.
Actually was supposed to be the priest. But definitely they
cannot eat the holy bread if they had been intimate
with their wives or anybody else. So David replied, indeed,
women have been kept from us as usual whenever I
(17:01):
set out. The men's bodies are holy, even on missions
that are not holy. How much more so today. So
the priest gave him the consecrated bread, since there was
no bread except the bread for other presents that had
been removed from before the Lord and replaced by hot
bread on the day it was taken away.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
So let me just stop right there.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
So even though this bread was for the priest, this
consecrated bread was for the priest. David was hungry, his
men were hungry. He was in need of food, and
so despite the laws that that was supposed to prevent
him from being able to eat this bread, the priest
(17:49):
gave it to him because he met He needed his
physical needs met, and so the priest.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Gave him the bread.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
Now, one of Sali's servants was there that day, detained
before the lord. He was dog the Edamite Salce chief shepherd,
and so David. In verse eight, David asked a Hemelech,
don't you have a spirit or a sword here? I
haven't brought my sword or any other weapon because the
(18:21):
king's mission was urgent. The priest replied, the sword of Goliath,
the philistine whom you killed in the valley of Ellah,
is here. It is wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod.
If you want it, take it. There is no sword
here but that one. David said, there is none like it.
Give it to me, and so we're gonna stop right there.
(18:44):
So this priest met David's physical need. David was in
need of food, and he was in need of a weapon.
And we know that no soldier who goes to war
can be successful without being on all right, So David
needed a weapon and he needed food.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
He needed nourishment.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
And even though that this went against you know, the
Mosaic laws for David to eat the show bread, his
physical need was in need, and so therefore the priest
gave him the bread and also gave him the weapon
he needed.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
To defend himself, and.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
You would think the priest probably would have asked, well,
how are you going on the secret mission that's so
secret that you don't have a weapon. But David made
up this story because he didn't want to really tell
the priest all what was going on between him and
King Saul. So one thing that is important to understand
(19:54):
is before we can actually even minister the people spiritually,
we also need to minister to their physical needs. That
means that if they're homeless in need of food, feed them.
If they need something to drink, give them something to drink.
If they need clothes, give them clothes, if they need shoes,
(20:15):
give them clues. Meet those physical needs and then tend
to their spiritual needs. One thing Jesus did when he
often healed, he often said, your sins are forgiven, then
take up your bed and walk. So he met their
spiritual need and their physical need. We often sometimes we
(20:36):
tend to maybe think about the spiritual aspect without thinking
about the physical aspect as well. So we don't want
to just say, oh, trust in the Lord, but then
we don't do anything to help that person that person
to gain trust in the Lord. All right, we are
going to take a quick break and will be back
(21:01):
in just a moment.
Speaker 5 (21:18):
If tomorrow all things were gone, work for all my
life and I had a start again, just my children,
n my life.
Speaker 6 (21:32):
Thank my lucky stars to be living here, because the
Frank still stands for freedom and they can't.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Take that away at a bottle to be an American
where he stand a land.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
Free through our rod.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Forget the people who died, who can't that tight to me?
Speaker 5 (22:01):
And at that he spend that next to you and
defend her still today because there ain't no doubt at.
Speaker 7 (22:12):
This land god less than.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
From the lakes of Minnesota.
Speaker 5 (22:33):
To the hills of Tennessee, across the plains of Texas,
from see the side see.
Speaker 6 (22:44):
Detroit, down to Houston in New York too them this
pride and every American heart and it's time is standing.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
And say that a pow to be had americant where
a standl and three to not all get the men
who died.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
We gave that put to the meat and a bad
He said.
Speaker 6 (23:16):
That next you, and you can hear still today because.
Speaker 3 (23:22):
It ain't no doubt.
Speaker 5 (23:23):
I love this Landst.
Speaker 7 (23:26):
Go Las.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Said, can a pow to be had?
Speaker 7 (23:37):
American War the Spando lore and I all who gets
the men who died who gave that fack to me?
Speaker 5 (23:49):
And I bad He said, let me and have been
her still today because it ain't no doubt.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
And that is God blessed the USA, and it is
you know, God has given us a lot of blessings
here in the United States, and it is important for
us as a people to remember the blessings that God
has given us because.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
We are we're on a destructive path.
Speaker 4 (24:41):
And even though there was an election and a change
of parties, the people in this nation need to change
and go back to God, the one who has blessed us,
because without the Lord, there are no freedoms. And today
(25:04):
I want to again go over talking about veteran homelessness.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
Veteran homelessness, and so.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
This is an article from VA News and it says
each year the federal government devotes billions of dollars to
the noble goal of ending veteran homelessness. It is a
big chunk of change, and many wonder where exactly the
money goes. That's why we're gonna talk about that today.
And again you can find this information on news dot
(25:36):
VA dot gov. And it says that we turned the
tables a little bit in this episode. So this is
an article that they're talking about with regards to the
spending budget or the fiscal year budget for the Veteran
Homelessness Program, which is three point two billion dollars. So
(25:58):
there's three point two billion dollars and these funds will
go to care for three hundred thousand veterans for the
fiscal year of twenty twenty five. I want to break
it down because if you are in danger of homelessness,
or if you are experiencing homelessness, then you need to
(26:18):
know that there are funds available where they are helping
veterans to get into safe housing. So prevention services, which
help veterans from becoming homeless in the first place, there's
an eight point twenty five million dollar budget for that.
(26:40):
So if you're in danger of being homeless, please talk
to someone at the VA, let them know your situation
so that they can help you to prevent you from
becoming homeless. Another is transitional housing, which provides veterans with
safe places to stay temporarily. That is that has been
(27:01):
allowed at six hundred three million dollars. Also, permanent housing,
supportive services like hood VA supportive housing like hood Vash
program that gets veterans into rentals and provides wrap around
services that has been allowed at one point one one
(27:22):
point one billion dollars. Now, these are grants, so if
you've ever heard of hud Vash, these are grants where.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
You apply, you have to be seen at the VA.
Speaker 4 (27:33):
I believe if you're getting like a ten percent disability
or higher, you can double check that. But if you're
getting at least ten percent or higher and you're experiencing
homelessness and you could talk to a VA rep, they
will help you by you applying for that hud Vash grant.
(27:54):
Normally the grants are limited, so I don't know if
this has been it seemed like there's been an increase
where there's more there's more grants available. And what it
does is it works along with the I'm trying to
think of the service. It works along with the public
housing service citizens and so therefore they will try to
(28:17):
find you housing or either rental or or before it's
renting a house up to a certain amount and then
you can have that pay for Now just recently and
I stand corrected, but you may want to double check
this and I'm gonna have to double check this myself.
(28:40):
But it used to be where there was an income
limit with regard to this program. If I'm right, and
I think now, if I'm not mistaken, there that has
been a change. But please check it out just to
make sure. I ran across some article that and I
(29:01):
didn't go into details about it, and I think it
said that there had been some changes in that. Just
check that, just to make sure. Also, treatment which includes counseling,
medical care, substance treatment, and other services that help veterans
stay housed, and that has been allowed it three hundred
(29:23):
and seventy million dollars. Employment and job training to help
veterans prepared to seek employment that has been afforded two
hundred and fifty dollars, fifty million dollars, two.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
Hundred and fifty million dollars.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
Administrative costs include research and evaluation that has been allowed
twenty seven million dollars.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
All right, So.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
Another I want to go into just a little bit
more for as how this is making a difference. So
it said that by reducing the number of veterans experiencing
homelessness or given night by or given a night by
fifty two percent. They have reduced it by fifty two
(30:13):
percent since twoenty ten, and we often exceed our housing
goals early. In fiscal year twenty twenty four, we met
our goal of housing forty one thousand veterans by August.
That's why it's so important that if you are experiencing
homelessness or you about to be homeless, please talk to
(30:34):
a VA service rep who can help you. The most
important thing that they want to convey is that they
are doing this job to help people, help the veterans
to get back on their feet. So if you are
a veteran who is homeless or at risk of homelessness,
(30:57):
or need to contact or connect with Veteran Justice out respecialists,
call the National Center for Homeless Veterans at one eight
seven seven four eight VET. That's one eight seven seven
four two four three eight three eight one eight seven
seven for the number four aid VET or one eight
(31:20):
seven seven four two four three eight three eight. You
can also visit the VA Homeless Programs website to learn
about housing initiatives and other programs for veterans exiting homelessness.
Check out the Ending Veteran Homeless podcasts. They have one
Onnews dot va dot gov. That'snews dot va dot gov.
(31:45):
Also learn how to get involved with helping housing homeless vets.
If you are a rental agency, if you are a
landlord that you're looking into helping UH specifically veterans, and
you want to see how you can get in the
program where the government possibly pays you to house veterans,
